Ep 074: Never Change Who You Are: Reagan Hopkins on Faith, Identity, and Trusting God When the Path Changes

What if staying true to who you are becomes the very miracle you’re praying for?
Reagan Hopkins was raised on quiet, faithful habits—family prayer, scriptures, and choosing God one decision at a time. As a competitive water polo athlete, those choices were easy… until they weren’t.
When competitions went national, playing on Sundays became the norm—and the pressure to compromise grew louder. Reagan prayed. A lot. Then, in the middle of a pool, a teammate looked at her and said, “Never change who you are.” With the help of a wise mother, Reagan knew God had answered her prayer. From that moment on, she became “the girl who doesn’t play on Sundays”—and the peace that followed confirmed she was exactly where she needed to be.
Her faith carried her forward—to a mission call to Quito, Ecuador, far outside her comfort zone. Language barriers, physical pain, and months of unanswered questions followed. When the pain became unbearable and support was scarce, Reagan clung to her patriarchal blessing—feeling the Lord’s comfort when she needed it most.
Eventually, a compassionate mission president helped her see the truth: coming home wasn’t failure. It was mercy. God had seen her. Heard her. Loved her enough to invite her to care for herself.
Three years later, Reagan still lives with daily pain—but also with deep trust. God isn’t finished writing her story. Through service, humanitarian work, and her mission-focused heart, she continues to seek the One—Jesus Christ—finding His love in moments big and small.
If you’ve ever wrestled with disappointment, identity, or unanswered prayers—this episode is for you.
