Welcome to Dougie Wuggy Story Hour. Coming to you today from Hillcrest Elementary School, the home of the Hillcrest Carnival. All right. I'm here today with a nice group of first, second graders. Any third graders?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02Okay. It is the second to last day of school.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_022025. And we're about to go on summer break. And this is our last class of the school year. We're about to start summer camp. So yeah. Let's give it up for the 2024-25 school year.
unknownWoo!
SPEAKER_02Okay. All you listening at home, it's probably already going to be summer break by the time you listen to this. So hope you're having a good summer. And maybe I'll see some of you in camp. If you don't know the name of the camp, it's called called ColeArtsCamp.com. And you can come and sign up for the camp and see Dougie Wuggy tell stories in person, do some music, do some dancing, do some art, and put on shows. And yeah. All right, on to our story. Today's story is called How Sif got her golden hair. Now, Sif, for some of you who don't know, is a goddess. And she is married to a god named Thor. Now, some of you probably have heard of Thor, right? Big buff dude, he's got a hammer, and he protects all the gods and goddesses in Asgard from the giants and from the monsters. And does anyone know how Thor got his hammer? I see some hands raised. Did he get it from the dwarfs?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Now, one day I'll tell you the story about how Thor got his hammer from the dwarfs, because that's a very cool story. But no, I'm not going to tell that story today. Today's story is focused more on his wife and the god Loki. Now, Loki, as some of you know, is half god and half giant. That means he's really good sometimes and he's really bad sometimes. Now, Loki is also known as the trickster god. He likes to play pranks, and sometimes he does, sometimes his pranks are just kind of ha ha, and sometimes they're like, oh no, like really nasty. And sometimes they're like even more deadly. Like in the end of all these stories, did you know that that Loki becomes like a super bad dude? Like the evil side of him takes over. Like instead of 50-50, it's like he gets 60%, 70% bad, 80%, 90, and then finally 100% bad? Yeah. And he marries a witch. Did you know that? Yeah. He marries an evil witch, and they have th and they have three evil children. One is this giant wolf, one is a zombie, and one is uh like some kind of um monstery thing. I forgot exactly what it is. Um anyway, hands down. So this is a story about when Loki does something kind of uh medium bad. Not horrible, but pretty nasty and mean. Yeah, it's a little more. So, yeah. On the scale of one to ten, one being really nice, ten being really nasty, this is about a five or a six, would you say? Somewhere in that in the six range. Um it's just basically a nasty prank. And you know why, you know what? Now, I have to give you a little backstory. Thor and Loki do not like each other. They just don't. They're half-brothers. They have the same father, which is Odin. He's the king of the gods. They have different mothers. And um they're always arguing, and they're very opposite because Thor is like um basically very brave, very strong. Uh maybe not the smartest of all the gods. And Loki is like not very strong. He's kind of a weakling, but he's the smartest and the trickiest of all the gods. And they just don't like each other. They're always getting in arguments and you know, whatever. And one day they get in an argument about something. I don't know exactly what. They were arguing about some silly thing. And they really started arguing, and they started saying mean things to each other, and Loki got really, really mad. Really, really mad, and he was like, I'm gonna really do something bad to Thor. I don't know what though. And then he said, hmm, I know I'm gonna do something to his wife. Now, Thor is married to Sif. Now, Sif is one of the most beautiful of the goddesses. She has long, long, long, long blonde hair all the way down to her feet. Okay, and she's extremely proud of her hair. Every morning she gets up, she combs her hair, she brushes her hair, she admires herself in the mirror. She's like, I'm so beautiful, my hair's so and Thor's always saying, Oh, honey, you have such beautiful hair, and everyone's always admiring her hair, and she's just very proud of her hair. And then Loki thinks, maybe I should just shave her head. Cut her head, cut her hair off so she's bald. Would you say that's pretty nasty, a pretty nasty prank? Yes about a six on the nasty. An eight?
SPEAKER_00Shave seven or nothing cut. She'll grow it anyway.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well. Yeah, it does grow back, but she spent a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long time. Like, um, like hundreds of years maybe, I don't know, because the gods and goddesses don't age the same way we do. We don't really know how old they are. So she's been having been growing this hair for a long time. I mean, how would you like it if you woke up one morning and and and you went to go brush your hair and you were bald?
SPEAKER_01I I like haircut, I liked it.
SPEAKER_02Well, some of you guys with short hair wouldn't mind, but some of you ladies that have long, beautiful hair, I don't think you'd like that. I would not like it. No, no, no, no, no. Man, I freaked out last year when I went to get a haircut and and the lady cut it way too short. I was like, oh my gosh, it's way too short. I really didn't like that.
unknownWe got a haircut.
SPEAKER_02Okay, back to our story. I love haircuts. So I'm gonna go over here and close the door because it's a little noisy in the hall. Okay.
SPEAKER_01He has a Okay.
SPEAKER_02Back to our story. Okay. So it's a little quieter now.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. You guys ready for the next part of the story?
SPEAKER_01Yeah!
SPEAKER_02All right. Okay. So Thor thinks, okay. I mean, Loki thinks, okay, I'm gonna wait till Thor's out of town. Because Thor's always leaving to go on some mission, like he's always fighting some monster or some giant or something or something or something. And and finally he's called out on a mission to go battle some kind of giant, and he gets his hammer and he tells his wife, okay, honey, I'll be back tomorrow. I gotta go take care of something. She said, Okay, I don't like it when you leave. He said, I know, I'll be back as soon as I can. And so she's alone in this big palace that she lives in. She doesn't really like it when she's alone, because I don't know. You know, Thor is, you know, he kind of Yeah. And and she's kind of lonely in this big palace. And and so Loki's like, today, tonight's the perfect time to do it. So you know what he does? He does something very tricky. He makes a tea. And guess what he puts in the tea? Sleeping powder. Because he knows all about herbs and plants, and he chops up these herbs and plants, and he boils them, and he makes a tea that if you drink two or three cups, it will put you to sleep. It's like a sleeping pill, except and but he makes it sweet, he puts a lot of honey in it, and it tastes really good. And he goes to her palace and he goes, and he's like, um, he knocks on the door. She's like, What do you want, Loki? And he's like, um, I was just checking on you because um, you know, I know that you don't like it when Thor leaves, and I just want to make sure you're okay. And she said, Yeah, I'm fine. He goes, Well, I know you have trouble sleeping when Thor's away. She goes, Yeah, how'd you know? Oh, yeah, Thor mentioned it to me. I brought you some some tea. She's like, okay. And he said, It'll it'll it'll help you sleep. She's like, It'll help her sleep a lot. And and then she's like, okay, fine. And then he said, and I brought some homemade bread too. He likes to bake. And he made some homemade bread and and he put butter on it, and and he made the tea really sweet, and she's like, Mmm, this is really delicious. He goes, Want another cup? And she's like, sure. Another cup? She's like, sure. And then after the fourth cup, all of a sudden she's like, Yeah. Oh, oh, oh, Loki, I I need to lie down. Thanks for the tea and the bread. I really have to. And she just passes out, lies down on her on the floor, pulls up a little pillow, and goes to sleep. She doesn't even have the energy to go to her bedroom. She just kind of sleeps. You know that feeling like you're watching TV or something, you're too tired to go to your room, and you just like fall asleep on the couch or on whatever. Okay. And that that happened to me a few nights ago. I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up like at 2 in the morning, like, oh wow, the TV was still on. I was like, oh boy. I guess I was tired, huh? And then I just crawled into bed. So then he makes sure she's really asleep. He's like, okay. Makes sure she's really asleep. And she's like rushing. And he takes out some scissors and he cuts off her hair right to the skull. So she's basically bald.
SPEAKER_00She's bald, not right.
SPEAKER_02And and then he grabs her hair, bundles it up, and just leaves with this little snicker, like, that'll show Thor. That'll get him. And in the morning, Sif wakes up. And she's like, oh man, I slept really great. She goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth and brush her hair, and she's like, oh, what a beautiful. She starts screaming. And and like her sisters, the different, all the different goddesses, they hear her screaming, and they run over to her palace and they're like, what is it? And and then she she has like a shawl on her head, and they're like, they're like, what is it, Sif? And then she takes the shawl off and they're like, all the goddesses are like, oh my god, oh my goddess. And we'll say, Oh my god, oh my goddess. And so and then she's just like, um, she's like, who did this? And she said, it had to be Loki. It had to be Loki. And so she's like, he brought me this tea, he must have done it to knock me out. And they're like, oh, Thor's gonna be so mad. And she's like, oh, Thor is gonna murder him. And then when Thor gets back later that day, everyone's like, Thor, he's like, what? How did your mission go? Good. And they're like, um, you better brace yourself. There's a little bit of trouble at home. He goes, What? Um, well, um, yeah, I mean, um, well, you'll see. Yeah, you'll you'll see. It's something with Sif. He's like, what, is she okay? Yeah, she's okay, I guess, sorta. She's pretty upset. Upset about what? Oh, you'll just go see. So he goes home. Sif is in her room, hiding under the cover. She doesn't want anyone to see her. And then he's like, Sif, what's wrong? And she goes, Look! And she takes her shawl off, and she is bald-headed. And he's and Thor's like, who did this? She goes, Who do you think? He goes, Loki. Had to be Loki. Getting back at me for that argument we had. She's like, he brought me sleeping tea, knocked me out, and shaved my hair off.
SPEAKER_01He's like, and Thor screams out, Loki, Loki, I'm gonna kill you, I'm gonna find you, I'm gonna strangle you, dude. I'm gonna bash you with my hammer.
SPEAKER_02And Loki's hiding. Loki's like, oh man, why did I do that?
SPEAKER_00Stupid, stupid, stupid. Thor's so mad at me. Thor's gonna murder me.
SPEAKER_02And he's hiding, and then finally, Thor says, he goes to the king and he goes, Look what, look what Loki did to my wife. And Odin's like, oh my gosh. And his wife, the queen, says, Oh my goddess. And then Odin says, Loki, I'll give you 10 seconds to show up here, dude. Ten seconds. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two. I'm here. What? What is it? Why did you shave Siv's hair? It wasn't me! You can't prove it. It wasn't me. It wasn't me. No one can prove it. And then Thor just grabs him by the shirt, picks him up, grabs his hammer, and says, I know you did it. I'm giving you five seconds to confess before I bash you. Thor smash, Thor smash. And he goes, Okay, fine. I did it. What's the big deal? It's just hair, it'll grow back. She's always bragging about her hair, and you're always bragging about your wife's hair. Oh, she's so beautiful, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. We're sick of hearing it. Okay, it'll grow back. It's not that big a deal. And Sif is crying. She goes, it is a big deal. It took me 250 years to grow my hair. And you just shaved it off for nothing. I hate you. Loki, eh, whatever. I don't care. Everybody hates me. And then Odin says, Loki, you went too far this time, dude. Too far! I know you are smart. I know you are clever. I will give you one week to figure out how to fix this. You need to find a replacement for her hair. Something. A wig or something. Go ask your friends the dwarfs. They know how to make stuff. Well, it's true. Loki is friends with the dwarfs. The dwarfs are very good at making things. They made Thor's hammer. They made a flying pig for Baldur. They made a ship that folds up and goes into your pocket. They made a spear for Odinum that always hits its mark. And they are known throughout all the nine worlds for making very cool and magical things. So Loki goes, okay, I'll go ask the dwarfs. They owe me one. They owe me a favor. So he goes down to the land of the dwarfs, which is called uh dwarfheim. Means the land of the dwarfs. And they're like, What do you want, Loki? You always come here when you need something. You never visit us just to say hello. You always come here when you need a favor. What favor do you need? I know you need a favor. Yeah, I need a favor. What is it this time? I need a wig for Sif. Why, Sif has beautiful hair. Uh, well, I kinda uh did a little prank and I sorta kinda, let me guess. You shaved her hair off. How'd you know? I'm guessing. Why did you do such a nasty thing? I don't know. I was just in a mood, okay? It's not for you to ask why. I just need your help. Do me a favor. Can you make a wig for her? They're like, uh, a wig. We've never made a wig before, especially for a goddess. And Loki's like, it has to be really good. It has to look like hair, feel like hair, has to be gold. They're like, okay, you need a golden wig. Yeah. When do you need it? In a week. A week? It's gonna take us a month to make it. I have a week. I will give you guys extra treasure, whatever I'll owe you guys. I need a wig in a week. And they're like, okay, fine. So they get a bunch of gold, a whole big pile of gold, and they make a fire, and they start making strands of hair, one by one, one by one out of gold. Like literally, like thin hair, just like your hair would be. Thin, flexible. One strand after another strand after another strand. I mean, it's taking a long time, right? I mean, there's thousands and thousands and thousands of hairs on your hair on your head, right? And and Loki's like, come on, guys, come on. It's like I have one more day. I have to be back in a week. I have to be, or they're gonna kick me out of Asgard. Okay. And and they're like, don't rush us. It has to be good. It's for a goddess, okay? It's gotta be perfect, it's gotta be fantastic. I don't want it to look cheap. Okay? You can get a cheap wig anywhere. This is made by the dwarves. Come on, we have our reputation. So Loki's like, come on, guys, don't sleep, just do it. So they don't sleep, they don't eat, they just work on the wig, they work on it, and then finally Loki's like, okay, enough's enough. I gotta take it. They're like, one more minute, and they do the last strand, and they said, Okay, it's finished. They put it in a box, and Loki rushes back to Asgard and he goes, I've got the wig. And all the gods and goddesses, they come into the palace, and Thor is there, and the king and the queen and all the gods and goddesses are like, hmm, let's see what he's got. This should be interesting. And Thor's like super, he's still mad. He's like, he's like smoke's coming out of his ears. He's like, he's got his hammer, he's ready to bash Loki if it's and and then Odin the king says, All right, present the wig. And he takes the wig out of the box, and there's Sif, she's got the the shawl on her head. She takes the shawl off, she's still got her bald head, and Loki comes over, he puts the wig on her head, and everyone's like, whoa, that is nice, and it fits perfectly, and it's all the way down to her ankles, and it's flexible and it's beautiful, and it's literally made out of gold. So she literally, she literally has golden hair, and then something magical happens. The wig attaches to her skull, it starts to grow like real hair. It like literally attaches because the dwarfs had put magic in it. So it's a magic wig that literally attaches to her skull and it grows like real hair. So now she literally has golden hair. And if she cuts it, it'll grow back as real gold. So, like if she goes to a store and needs to pay, instead of paying the money, she just gives them a snip of hair, takes her scissors out, here, that should pay for that. And they're like, oh, Sif's hair, cool. I'm not gonna I'm gonna keep this. This is like an autograph. And that is the story how Sif got her real golden hair. And did did did Thor ever forgive Loki for that? Not really. Although Sif really did like her golden hair. She's pretty happy with it. But it really made Thor super mad, and he never really forgave his half brother for that. And that is the story of how Sif got her golden hair. Okay, that's it for this time. See you next time. Bye bye. Say bye bye, everybody.
