Freedom Fighter Podcast
At the Freedom Fighters Podcast, we passionately believe in freedom—not just as a concept, but as a calling. We believe that God, our forefathers, and our own choices lay the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today. This podcast is our way of exploring what it really means to live free—financially, personally, and spiritually.
Each episode dives into the real stories of people who are fighting for something bigger than themselves. We believe true financial freedom comes from faithfulness, integrity, and the courage to keep going, even when life gets hard. Through honest conversations and powerful lessons, we share the tools, strategies, and mindset shifts that help others pursue freedom on their own terms.
We’re here to grow, to give, and to open doors for others. Because when one of us breaks free, it creates a ripple effect. And we believe that kind of freedom is always worth the fight.

The individual books, you know, they have a story from the author, but it's a consolidation of their lifetime worth of knowledge that you can't get, mean, in my lifetime, I can't get all the degrees that all these people have, but I can get the most important pieces of all their knowledge and to be able to consolidate that. And then like you said, take action, implement those things.
I mean, that's where the change really happens. So, Tanner, I of want to do a little different, I guess, this one. We sit here and we talk about books all the time. We point them out. You know, I got a lot of them back here and but we never really talked about what books have done for you, how books have helped you, how they've acted as a mentor to you, stuff like that. So I of wanted to take a second and talk about the impact of books and what they've had on your marriage, your kids, your real estate and entrepreneurship, the whole gamut of things, your spiritual life.
When I first got into the entrepreneurial journey, I've talked about this a couple of times in the podcast, but it was post COVID and we had lost, I think it was somewhere around 12 family members to various different reasons. And we realized that we weren't leaving our kids with anything but debt. And we started, we realized we needed to change something. Started watching YouTube videos and found a guy that had, you know, some catchphrase about like, if you want to be wealthy, you need these five books or.
something like that. And so we watched them and I was like, all right, so ask my wife, what, what book should we get? Like I, you know, should we start with this one? And you know, is Napoleon Hill or, know, John Maxwell, stuff like that. And she's like, let's get all of them. And we had maybe 200 bucks in our bank account at the time. And I was like, all of them, like that's going to be all the money that we have. And it almost to the dollar was exactly. And she said, no, just buy all of them. She's like, but the stipulation was you gotta do something with it. And I think the first one that I read was called the Automatic Millionaire.
Have you ever heard of that one? So that one just transformed the wealth journey and understanding money and looking at tithing and putting aside money for yourself and just basically Automatic Millionaire was like hiding money from yourself. And it was...
I learned how to do this with my military paycheck as I'm still active duty at the time. I can go in and set up different distributions where I want a certain percent of it to go somewhere else where I'm not even looking at it. And so I started setting these things up. I contributed more to my thrift savings plan and doing those kinds of things. And then before I knew it, I had $5,000 in a bank account and I was like, and started investing in stocks. And so that just changed the mindset.
Most people say the first book that they read when they got into real estate investing was a purple Bible, right? And I didn't read Rich Dad Poor Dad until probably the third or fourth book. And by then I was already all about investing. And so I think the big thing that shifted then was I, you know, I'd only ever read books that I was forced to.
