Premier League Referee Controversies

Speaker 1

Welcome to the OnForm podcast . My friends Appreciate all you guys for tuning in . We got a lot to talk about today . Oh , my word From the David Coote stuff and , of course , liverpool and the positive things . I see that comment already from Dan about the positivity . What's up , brian ? How you doing brother ? Good to see you . My man , thanks for tuning in and yeah , I mean I get the stance on a lot of this stuff . I do , I understand it .

Speaker 1

Or some fans are like , hey , it's like water under the bridge and you know , you kind of move on , but you know , as for what the sport will look like moving forward , man is a whole different kind of question , is a whole different kind of thing that I think a lot of people are worried about when it comes to the officiating , and I think they've been worried about for a long time , right , as all of us have probably been really worried about for a really long time when it comes to the officiating in the Premier League and it's making sure it's not biased , making sure it's not influenced by outside you know influences and things like that . So we can all have a fair shot at this thing without any bias when it comes to the officiating , and I know we're all human and it's kind of hard to even really come to a world where all of that's going to even be possible , right , where you know all of us are going to have a favorite team , where you know whether we're an official or we're not an official , all of us are going to think one of the other managers are not , is , you know , is not one of our favorites and the other ones are going to love the managers . Right , and I hope that the referees , they understand those things , they get those things and they understand that their job is to be not biased whatsoever when it comes to these types of things . But when you see a video like that one , it's kind of hard to think that that is not the case . Right , it's kind of hard to believe that there , there isn't , you know , referees out there that are making decisions based off of who they like and who they don't like , which is what we always feared , right ? That's the one thing that we feared with this whole introduction of VAR the influence of referees on the game increasing literally season after season after season . It's the one thing that we all feared , right , was something like this happening so ?

Speaker 1

Um , and then red chili said just found out that the pgmll hired a tech firm hoping to find out if the if coot's video was real . It looked pretty real to me and a lot of that stuff , that the deep fake stuff which is becoming very convincing these days that didn't look altered at all From the first moment that I saw it . It looked legitimate from the very , very beginning . And then the fact that the follow up video is like make sure , make sure that that it wasn't real . Ah , that it wasn't real , ah , that it wasn't real . It looks real to me . And from what I understand , is that he actually has already admitted it . From what I heard is that he actually admitted it , that the video was real . I think that was their efforts in trying to save face , but the evidence is just too overwhelming . And then I don't know if you guys saw the follow-up video where he's quite literally saying make sure this video doesn't get out . If this video doesn't get out , I'm screwed , if this video gets out , I'm screwed . Right . And uh , he was right . So , and then , reese , what's up ? Brother checking in , see you , brother , I see you right there . And then , uh , dan said uh , coo admitted it was real . Yep , he did , and I saw that that came out and it looks like the um the pgmol is is going to um suspend him indefinitely or he won't be able to ref um a game ever again , which is crazy , because he just came off of a suspension for the penalty that he gave against Manchester United . Um , and that West Ham game which ultimately led up to Eric Tenhag being fired , right .

Speaker 1

So when people say that , oh , it's all good , like it's water under the bridge , let's just move on from these moments . Let's move on from these these refereeing mistakes , I people's livelihoods , right , are at stake with these decisions . Right , like obviously 10 hogs not going to be broke anytime soon . But when we're talking about a team , a bottom half team , we're talking about a team fighting for out of relegation . That's not the case for a lot of these other teams where they don't get million , multimillion dollar contracts , where the manager is , you know , trying to make a breakthrough and he doesn't know if this is going to be a long-term thing for him , if he'll ever get another management job . Making sure that these decisions are done the right way is , like , so , so important and you just don't even under , we don't know the impact of one singular decision on a game what it can . It can do for the rest of the game , right , or for a club's well-being as a whole , right . So it's a lot .

Speaker 1

It's very layered and I know that . You know he's had some decisions , some questionable decisions , with us in the past and you guys will have to tell me which ones they are . I've seen a couple of them . I think it's like four in total . I know it was the Pickford thing that he went through VVD and I don't think he even got a red card for that , did he ? And then also he was refereeing the arsenal game where um odegaard dribbled the ball . I remember that one uh . And then I'm seeing dan said that roger handball . He didn't give uh because uh cost us the league and the pgmol knew about it four years ago and that's why he didn't ref an lfc game three years . I did not know that . I did not know that . And it's kind of ironic that he comes back on a Liverpool game and that's his last ever game in the Premier League . So I think that's kind of funny how that ends up working and how poetic that ends up being .

Speaker 1

So it's crazy , it's corrupt , red chili , um , and it also doesn't look good that a lot , of , a lot of the referees go to saudi arabia in in the off season and they coach these random friendlies and they're paid six figures to ref these random friendlies and they're paid six figures to ref these random friendlies . That's sponsored by the people who own Manchester City and it's just like well , that's . You know they can take jobs outside of , you know , the Premier League . We can't , you know , keep them from making money outside of the Premier League . You know that's not right , but I get that , but it's a vested interest in another team that's hosting these events . You know what I mean . Like it's a conflict of interest when it comes to those things . And this is like obviously going like a layer deeper outside of the whole David Coote thing . But just like the referees and the officials in general who are going to Saudi Arabia on the owners of Manchester City's dime and they're doing these one-off games , they're being paid an absorbent amount of money and then they come back and then they officiate a Manchester City game .

Speaker 1

Like there's no way you can be unbiased when the club that you literally just worked for over the summer just changed your life with life changing money , and then you go and you officiate a match for them in your regular day job , your regular job , that you're not going to be biased . There's no way . There's no way , exactly , reese , exactly . Unconscious bias exists in every aspect of life , including football . Every ref is guilty , and it's true , but so and then he rescues . So I'm not mad about certain outcomes . It happens , but folks have to be right to be angry with Couture , right , and it's true , and I think that's the thing . We do have an unconscious bias and I don't think we need to like . We do have an unconscious bias and I don't think we need to like amplify it by having all these conflict of interest and things like that . I just don't think we need to do it .

Speaker 1

In the city's case , it's weird , but Coots will be the sacrifice to keep the PGMOLs going in business as usual . The ref situation has been pretty well known , that they are biased and make calls on bias , right , exactly , exactly , and I think this will just be something that kind of keeps everybody off their back , like what Brian said . They finally did something to one of the refs or one of the officials and Coot was on the fence for a long time . I mean , he was suspended from Liverpool matches which I did not know , and then obviously he just came back from a prolonged expansion and now he's fired . So if we didn't see anything like that coming , we kind of are crazy , but we'll see what ends up happening .

Speaker 1

What that whole organization is about Officiating keeps being strange . I don't know what you do . I really don't know what you do in a situation like this . Do you bring in another organization that's probably just going to be very similar to to what we already have ? Do you ? How do you change officiating ? How do you ? I just don't know . I don't know how you do it right ? Um , I'd look at american sports , but ours aren't , isn't always the best , especially in the nba . It's terrible . In the nba , I hear n NFL officiating is okay , but it has its issues . I mean , when you leave it up to a human being , it's very , very hard to be unbiased , like what Reese mentioned . So it just may just be like one of those part of the game type of things , but this is a whole different level , right ? So what up ? Trap Joe ? Hello everyone , I see you , brother , I see you . Welcome

Premier League Referee Controversies Continued

Speaker 1

in my man .

Speaker 1

What's your thoughts on ? On the whole david coot thing and uh in the uh in the referees and the officiating and stuff like that . I'm no expert , by the way . I'm just expressing my thoughts on what I think and , um , what I think maybe should change right . So , and then Dan said , yeah , red , uh , red chili , red chili . It's massively shady as you're replying , um , we still had a 55 percent win rate despite David Coote in that season . That's pretty crazy , uh . And then Reese said league titles weren't necessarily won or lost because of Coote , at least as far as we know . Right , the problem , how is how upfront he was with these feelings . Right , that's the uh , the one , the main thing . That kind of rubs you the wrong way . It's different if it's a video of him .

Speaker 1

Just me , I'm like , yeah , jorkin clopp isn't one of my favorite guys , you know , we get into it a lot , um , and he makes it . You know , he gives me the hair dryer treatment every time I see him , you know , know what I mean ? I think it's obviously like the way that he said it that makes it sound like he has a deep disdain for Jurgen , especially . You know , adding in a nationality to a slur and a curse word , or whatever you want to call it , right Towards him . I think you have to look back and be like damn , were those ?

Speaker 1

Were those calls biased , since he feels this deeply about jürgen klopp and liverpool ? That's kind of crazy . The way they're talking . It's different . If he says something like you know you know , jürgen klopp isn't my favorite guy to uh , right , it's very xenophobic , right . So it's just . I mean , even if he just called him a cunt you know what I mean Like that's fine , but to add the nationality in the beginning of it , it's just not . It doesn't look good , especially in today's landscape where everyone is very sensitive to those specific types of things , right .

Speaker 1

So it's a tricky subject , for sure , and I knew that a lot of the fans were going to start breaking out the receipts and being like he caused this . The one that I really don't like is the one where I don't even know who the ref was , but he disallowed that Lucho goal against Tottenham and Jeremy Doku kicked Mac in the chest . Those were two blatant calls from last season , right From last season , that I think we didn't get and we should have got . That actually did cost us the season . I think there was like three or four moments in total last season where it was just like what . And if you actually add up the numbers , if that would have been a win instead of a draw or a loss , we would have won the league . Actually , if you added up mathematically , those are the ones that bother me the most .

Speaker 1

But Brian said in England , a ref at that level they're known for having an inflated ego , et cetera , et cetera . It's true , it's almost like they're superstars . They have a lot of influence over the game , they get the spotlight almost every game and it's almost like you get the feeling that they're trying to overcompensate for the stardom that's on the field and they feel like they need to be a specific way , because these guys are millionaires , make all this money , they're famous , so I need to be an extra , extra over-the-top asshole so they respect me , which you don't need to do that . Just be a good ref , right then trap joe said when be uh , when betting houses and big money are involved , there's a big chance for rigging and all the other uh and under the table salaries . It's true , you can totally . I don't put it past any of these refs . I don't put it past any of them because I don't know how much Premier League refs get , but when you're getting . If you can get 100K for ref in one game over the summer , come on now . You and I both know we'd both take that right and we'd both be susceptible to that bias .

Speaker 1

And then Sifu Ujinsi . So what's up , boy , what's up my man , how you doing in it , what you doing , brother . Drop down what you think about this whole thing . The David Coote thing , brother , while you're in here . And then Reese said by the way , the Rodger Handball thing isn't true . Tierney was on the field and Kavanaugh was on VAR , not Coote . So that's been debunked . Yeah , it's the other ones , like I was mentioning before , it's the other ones for me that piss me off , and I doubt David Coote was even involved in a lot of the ones that I just brought up the Tottenham game , the man City kick in the chest to Maka , the yeah , and I already mentioned the Tottenham offside with Lucho . It's just like damn bro , those are some terrible calls that potentially cost Jurgen Klopp a fairytale ending . So , and I truly , truly , truly believe that .

Speaker 1

But now to go into the present , because we've just been . You know , this is one of those things that you kind of have to go into the past a lot for , whatever , whatever and what it may be , but into the present . How about Arna Slott ? How about Arnaz Slott ? Real quick , fantastic , fantastic stuff .

Speaker 1

Alex , what's up , man , how you think David Coote is enjoying his time in the Slott Penitentiary ? He actually went to the Slott Penitentiary , which is absolutely hilarious . Which is absolutely hilarious . He will be serving a lot of time there , unfortunate for him . Obviously , he can get jobs other places . I'm sure Saudi Arabia would , would more than than welcome him . I'm sure they would , they would , they would accept a referee of his caliber up there . But we'll see what ends up happening with him . But first game back from his suspension , last game ever in his career in the Premier League , at the very minimum . So perfect . But let's talk a little bit about the league Enough about the referee and stuff Stuff .

Speaker 1

We really can't change in the past , unfortunately , I guess it kind of ties into the whole Manchester City thing . What happens there , that's something that everyone's kind of just let die after Manchester City has been on this losing streak . But that's something that I want resolved as well . But speaking of Manchester City , we're going to talk about the on-form and the out-of-form teams for this week and my three . I heard it David Coote . I heard Amazon is hiring . Yeah , put the groceries in the bag , bro . But for my out of form teams for this week , you can probably guess who they are . We're going Manchester City as that first one .

Speaker 1

Manchester City is that first one , and I might sound a little biased but I'm going to put Arsenal in the mix in there too To go winless . I think they're winless in their last four , if I'm not mistaken . Somebody correct me if I'm wrong , but I think they're winless in their last four matches and their last three they beat Preston Tough . Last three they beat Preston Tough . It's tough to beat Preston man . One win in their last . What it looks like five games Lost to Bournemouth right before that Shakhtar game .

Speaker 1

They are not in a good way . They are not in a good way right now . They're not in a good way right now and you can kind of see it falling apart a little bit for Arsenal as they're kind of going on and I get they're missing some key players . I get Saka was out , I get Odegaard was out , I get Saliba was out for a little bit . But if you're a championship winning team , you're a championship team . But if you're a championship winning team , you're a championship team and you are trying to win your title , you have to muscle through adversity and win .

Speaker 1

Anyway . If there's anything from when we won the title and when Manchester City won all their titles , regardless of who was injured , who was out , who was available , who wasn't , we found ways to win games that's changed a lot for Manchester City , right , that's very , very changed . That's changed a whole ton for Manchester City , because before it didn't matter who was on the pitch , manchester City was winning . Now they're very reliant on Rodrigo . He makes them tick , he gives them the defensive solidity that we're talking about , and that's why those two are in my out of form category this week . They have to be .

Speaker 1

I can't pick any other , anybody else , but those two . They're both winless in three and four games . First time that's happening in Pep Guardiola's management career , and I kind of saw it coming for Arteta . So , seeing Holland laughing losing the cup game , I was like be careful , what you wish for . He ain't laughing now . That's true , dan , he's not laughing now . And they cannot find a way to get these results . And Brighton , surprise , surprise , they're in my on-form category this week . They are a dangerous ass team . They are a dangerous ass team Like we've been talking about for the past two , three weeks .

Speaker 1

I said be careful with Brighton , and I said this in the beginning of the season that don't be surprised if Brighton is hanging around the top four come the end of the season . Don't be surprised , don't ? They have a good young manager , a fantastic system , money well spent . By the way , this summer they finally spent all the money that they've been collecting over the past five , six , seven years from us and all the other teams around the Premier League getting all their players and it's just coming together for this team . It's like a FIFA created team .

Speaker 1

You do a takeover of a created team and you're like I'm going to focus on youth talents we're going to sell when they become superstars and we're going to hire a good young manager . We're going to play expansive football and we're going to build a good young manager . We're going to play expansive football and we're going to build our club up the way that it should be no outside influences . We don't need to be state owned or anything like that , we're just going to . You know , do it the right way . That's , that's Brighton .

Speaker 1

You look at a club and you say , damn , they did it the right way . That's Brighton , I'd say us too . We're a phenomenal example of that at being a mid table . You know top four every once in a while type of team . When I first started watching Liverpool and now we're a big dog right you were one of those teams that's always at the top . Now you're thinking , damn , liverpool don't deserve to be anywhere else .

Speaker 1

And what Brighton has done to put themselves in contention to be a serious top four contender is nothing short of amazing . Man , going away to them is going to be tough . I know we beat them in the cup , but it's not the same . It's true , and they played a lot of their youngsters in that game and as soon as they brought on some of their senior players , we started having some troubles with those guys . So that'll be a game that we look out for for sure when we come back and we play them for the third damn time this season . I remember when we I remember last last season we played wolves like four times or something like that . I feel like that's the case with Brighton . But Brian said a herd seller is amazing .

Speaker 1

I think a lot of it has to do with him for sure , and also , just like the , the foundation that the Brighton scouting and backroom staff has done really well to build and that you know it's not off of what was already there with Potter , with Deserby , with now Hertzeller , who I think maybe in five and six and seven , maybe 10 years time , we could be talking about him being the Liverpool manager . I think he has that thing that we look for in a Liverpool manager . When Slott has already done the treble and the quadruple with us and now he's ready to manage the Dutch national team and win a World Cup with them , I think he'd be a great option for us . But fantastic organization similar to ours . As we now are seeing that it was not Klopp who was the man , it was not Klopp who was the secret sauce behind Liverpool's resurgence . It was us , it was Liverpool as a whole , it was Anfield , it was the fans all around the world that made Liverpool special . And then the way that FSG built the foundations of this club for it to last a long time . We're seeing now because it's gone from club to slot in such a seamless way that it was never like a Fergie situation where Fergie was the man he was holding Manchester United together and now he's gone . It's kind of collapsed . So it's fantastic . I love it .

Speaker 1

We played Fulham four times too . I was sick of seeing them . I remember that too . Yeah , it was ridiculous .

Speaker 1

And then , what's the future of Luis Diaz and Gakpo man from ? Uh , I don't have any insider information on on on Diaz or Gakpo . I think they still about . I don't know , I don't . I mean , if you're artist slot , you you're going to have a headache . You have a headache selecting between those two . It's like Lucho's on a freaking hot streak , gakpo's on a hot streak , mosala's on a hot streak . Nunes is coming in and he's doing a job , right . It's just like who do you pick for the front three ? But right now , I think those three Lucho , gakpo , salah are undroppable . I think those three Lucho , gakpo , salah are undroppable . And if we're talking about the future of them at the club , I think Gakpo stays for a very long time . I don't know about Luis Diaz .

Liverpool's Future Players and Potential Targets

Speaker 1

I remember seeing a post recently that he was very , very close , or a report came out that he was very close to leaving liverpool in the summer , but he decided against it , probably mainly because barcelona could not afford him . I think there was actual traction and actual something behind a lot of those reports , because his dad kept running his mouth and now his . His dad doesn't talk at all all of a sudden , right , but his dad kept bringing up Barcelona , how Lucho always wanted to be a Barcelona player when he was a kid and he loves Barcelona and Lucho will be a Barcelona player one day . I think there was something there and I think they were trying to work a deal behind the scenes , but it just never was able to materialize . And that's why we were going after Gordon , not because we wanted to replace Gakubo or Lucho . I think it was because we thought we were going to have to replace Lucho . So we were going after Gordon as a Lucho replacement , not so much as competition for Lucho and Gakpo or trying to push Lucho out .

Speaker 1

I think Lucho maybe came to the club and was like hey , if I'm hearing a lot of rumors about Barca or Barca has talked to my agents , you know we want to do the deal . We're not sure with Juergen leaving all of this extra stuff , and 50k a week is a travesty right . He should be getting paid much , much more than that and I'm sure he wants more money , um , which he can't get at barcelona . So I think they maybe explored a deal and um and this is all speculation , by the way , except for the report that came out . That's the only thing that I can confirm .

Speaker 1

But this this is my speculation that Lucho decided to stay when Barcelona said we're going to go and buy Dani Almo instead . That's the money that we had allocated . We're going with Dani Almo instead . We're not buying anybody else . So he's like you know what . Forget it . Let me stay here at Liverpool . Let's see what this Arnest Locke guy is about . The rest is history . Who knows if something ends up happening in the meantime ? But right now , I don't know if you leave on this type of form , or maybe you do . Or maybe you do Because we've seen guys be in the form of their lives and leave Liverpool before Some of our best players ever , right ? Luis Suarez , coutinho , I mean Michael Owen , you know a lot of these guys that we've seen be in the form of their lives , scoring at will , like Lucho is right now and leave because they're on a hot streak . Who knows what happens with Lucho ?

Speaker 1

I think Gagpo stays . I think he really likes Liverpool . I think he really likes the city that he lives in . It's a slower pace . He seems like a chill kind of guy from the interviews that I've watched of him , he's kind of like a slice of life type of individual where everything's kind of slower for him . He's not a big partier into fashion , none of that kind of stuff . I think he likes Liverpool and I think he likes playing under Arneslott . I think he has a good relationship with Arneslott just from some of the few interactions that I've seen in training and on the pitch .

Speaker 1

But I think Lucho does get a contract extension . I think they will offer him a contract . I think they'll offer both Lucho and Gakpo a contract extension when it's time and it'll be up to them if they decide they want to stay . But I think Gakpo stays the most likely out of the two . Yeah , yeah , give Lucho a pay increase just to play in the middle . He is something else as a false nine and it's the middle . He is something else as a false nine and it's the movement , it's the pace , it's the dribbling . It gives a lot of these big , big defenders so many issues . I don't know if he plays there long term . I'm surprised he never got a chance to play there under Jurgen Klopp , who loves to mix , match and move people out of positions . But we'll see . It might be something long term . We might see a Gakpo Diaz Sala combo , right , gakpo Diaz Sala , call it GDS or GLS , I don't know what we're gonna call it , but um , they look good . They look good together , um , and Nuno Nunez . Nuno Nunez is also somebody that's coming into form .

Speaker 1

I saw , I saw , I saw um a stat from from Darwin that he's on like 55 goals and assists . I'm like 120 something or 110 appearances for for Liverpool , I think . I think he he gets a little bit too much flack , undeserved flack for the numbers that he puts up they're not terrible . It's not 80 to 100 million worth that's for sure what we paid for him , but it's not bad . There's forwards with worse numbers than him . But of course , I saw a comment on the channel the other day . It's just like that's great , but we didn't pay him to only get 55 goals and assists .

Speaker 1

In what three years ? That's true , but who do you replace him with ? Who do you go out and get and replace him with ? That's going to be worth it and that won't be a similar situation that we have with Darwin , where maybe he's killing it in another league and he comes to the Premier League and finds out it's not that easy . And then we just have two players that aren't bad , but they aren't what we paid them , what what we bought , if that makes sense , right .

Speaker 1

And then dan said with nunes , having a kid could turn him into a beast . Look what happened to curtis jones . The nunes has been a dad , so hopefully this kid does something for him . Um , and in terms of around curtis jones it has turned into . And he asked all of a sudden I don't know what the hell is going on with him . The tight control , the , the ability to keep the ball away from his opponents in such tight areas I always thought that was his weakness . It's his strength . He has been playing outstanding . Could you imagine two scousers on a world class level playing at Liverpool at one time ? Trent and Curtis I'd love to see that . And then Harvey Elliott getting back into the mix . I know he's not a scouser , but you know a semi-academy , a product that we bought really young , and he was in and out of the first team in the beginning , but I think he's very special too .

Speaker 1

We have so much talent , we're so deep at Liverpool in terms of talent . I know a lot of people say we need to buy , we need to buy . We need to buy , but if you actually look at the talent that we have at the , at at our disposal at the club , you got Dominic Sabasai , who's 23 . You got Ryan Gravenberg , who's 22 . You got Curtis Jones , who's also 23 . I think , maybe turning 24 . You got Harvey Elliott , who's 21 , 22 years old . You got Connor Bradley , who's 21 years old . You got Morton , who had a phenomenal little cameo , who's 20 , 21 years old . You got Stefan Bajcetic , who's out on loan , who's a teenager still . You got like bro . You got Trey and Yoni , who's 17 years old . You got Rio Numuja , who is 17 years old .

Speaker 1

On and on and on . It's just like who are you going to go get ? Who are you getting ? Who are we getting ? Who are we getting ? That's better than this crop of youngsters and the potential and the ceiling that they could potentially be at is outrageous actually . And I forget , and you forget , that a lot of their senior players are still very , very young , like I mean , even even Macca is 25 . Even Macca is 25 years old , which I think we forget , because he looks 30 . Because he looks like he's in his 30s with the beard and all that stuff . But Maka is 25 years old , like bruh . We have the midfield set for a few years , maybe 10 . You know if Maka can get the Luka Modric treatment , you know what I mean . And Gakpo is still super young , 24 years old . It's just like what . That is insane .

Speaker 1

The only thing that I would look into is maybe , you know , getting maybe a front-line player , one that's like a little bit younger , amar Moosh . I saw someone mention Gilchrist . He would be the one that I'd want . I mean doing that celebration whenever he scores would just like make my damn life If we got Gilchrist best celebration probably in the world . Right now . I'm hearing he does not want to go to Manchester United and follow Amar . Let's pray that that's the truth . Let's pray that that's the truth . And I think he's one of the only bona fide goal getting scores out there . Like I'm talking early 2000s type of score .

Speaker 1

I'm talking Luis Diaz or Luis Suarez era . I'm talking Fernando Torres era . I'm talking Adriano . I'm talking Raul . I'm talking Diego Forlan , these types of finishers . That's just like , yeah , he wasn't at a big club , but he was a dog . You know what I mean . Like we had so many of those forwards back in like the 2008 , 2010 era . You know what I mean mean , and it seems like that breed of forward is just kind of gone . Carlos tevez , uh , I mean sergio aguero was in that . That , um , that era too , it's just ridiculous amount of talent in forward positions , and they were in abundance . Everybody had a good striker , you know what I mean . And now that's not the case and I think he's's one of a rare , rare breed .

Speaker 1

But speaking of left wing , I don't know how Rio might change the dynamic for Gakpo and Diaz when extension time comes . Kid is already practicing with our top guys . Very good point , reese . Very good point which I think maybe changes the stance of Liverpool on how much money they offer Luis Diaz . I think we keep Gakpo and he understudies Rio . And I don't know if we keep Lucho because we were so happy to let him leave this past summer , at least from what the reports that I saw .

Speaker 1

I can imagine FSU trying to cash in on him again . He'll be 20 . He's 27 now . He'll be 28 next year . You know , you know how Michael Edwards rolls , guys . He'll be 28 in January . So by next January , by the following January , after this , the next January transfer winner not this one coming up he'll already be 29 , almost 30 . You know how Michael Edwards rolls . You know how he rolls . He does not give contracts to players near in their 30s . So that could affect it . We'll see . But Brian said things are very good right now .

Speaker 1

That said , what happens in January ? How much does Virg Salah and Trent contract situation affect in January ? I think it affects it tremendously , brian . I think it affects it tremendously mainly because a lot of the money that they're probably pulling it all together , knowing FSG , that this is all the money that you have , this is for renewals , this is for also transfers Make it work . And if we're paying Trent an extra 10 , 15 , 20 million onto his contract , that's 10 , 15 , 20 million we cannot use in the transfer window . And same thing with Verge and same thing with Mo that that money will already be allocated to their contracts and they won't allow us to use it . That that money will already be allocated to their contracts and they won't allow us to use it . So it's going to make it really tricky

Liverpool's Contract Negotiations and Player Transfers

Speaker 1

.

Speaker 1

And I'm hearing Trent wants to become the highest paid player in Liverpool . He wants to become the highest paid . I'm hearing that and it's constantly coming out that he wants more money than Mo and he wants more money than verge . And I also heard I guess we'll do off press now that section Um , and I also heard that he's already had his mindset on not accepting a contract , regardless of how much it is . I'm hearing that a couple of times . Again , it's international break . You know , people do do this type of stuff , they do baby content and stuff like that , but you have to think there's almost six months left in that contract . Why is there no deal signed , especially for Trent , who is a younger player ? I get Salah , I get Verge . They're older players .

Speaker 1

No-transcript him being in a Liverpool red t-shirt . He is going to terrorize the Premier League . The fact that he was able to perform against some top competition in the Champions League makes him even more scary . That always is my telltale sign of a talent . If they can perform in the Champions League , then they can perform in any league , and he's just on fire . He's on fire .

Speaker 1

And then Brian also followed up . I wish we were keeping Kalahar . By the way , he's good enough to be number one if allison goes , and he is . I just don't know if he's better than marmo , uh , than marmar d'arcevilli . I just don't know if he's better than marmar d'arcevilli . I don't know if you've seen any of the uh , any of those valencia games or any of the games for uh for georgia in um in uh at the euros ?

Speaker 1

That boy is an animal . He is a special , special goalkeeper like we . Like allison went and had a baby . Yeah , allison went and had a baby and it was . It was gg marmar darceDarcevilli .

Speaker 1

Like , can you go find me an Allison dupe ? Go , it's Gigi Marmar-Darcevilli . He might be a better stopper than Allison is His reflexes and his stopping ability is crazy . He might not have great a better distribution than Allison and that's the one thing that I think sets Allison apart from a lot of the other goalkeepers is that Allison can rack up assist , he can get that ball to Mo Salah and Mo Salah will put it in the back of the net . But the reaction time that this man , gigi , has is crazy . Go look him up . If they , if Valencia is playing this weekend . You guys have time check him out , bro . He's been been one of the better , the better goalkeepers in La Liga for a while and now I think he's the best . I think he is the best in terms of shot stopping .

Speaker 1

But speaking of young talent , jaden Danz needs a chance in the first team Very impressive . Danz fell in a well well , somewhere saw him on milk garden , I'm no joke . I haven't seen him in any training videos . I haven't heard his name mentioned , nothing like where is this kid ? Like ? I know he was injured , but it's been like six months . Like where did he ? He like scored two , like two bangers , like won us a cup , and then was just like , all right , I'm gonna retire . Where did this kid go , bro ?

Speaker 1

And then alex said , uh , it sucks that lucho hasn't worked out the way that we wanted him to . I know he was supposed to be the um , he was supposed to be the saudi omane replacement , and now he's coming into that form that we all knew lucho had . We all knew lucho had this type of form in him where he could be dangerous and deadly . And now I think it's just too . It might just be a little bit too little , too late because of the way that we run our , our , our , our club , because we just don't give contracts to older guys . So , and I can't even believe he's been with the club for so long . It's kind of cool how time has kind of flown , that Lucho has already been at the club for like four years , five years , almost . So Brian also said I don't see how Trent thinks he's going to succeed in Madrid . I don't see it . I think he struggles there . I think he does too , and it's the same thing with Mbappe no-transcript .

Speaker 1

But he decided to go to a place that already had a great scoring setup . They already had things set , they already won a Champions League , they didn't need to fix anything . It was one of those things that was like it ain't broke , don't fix it . And they tried to fix something that wasn't broken and they broke it Right . Bellingham was great as a number nine , as a false nine , and Vinny Jr was great on the left wing and Rodrigo was great on the right wing , and they had it dialed in . They had the system dialed in . You know what I mean .

Speaker 1

They had Art of Goulair coming up in the ranks to be their next Luka Modric , and now where does he fit in ? Where does Indrik fit in this whole thing ? Where does Artagulier fit in this whole thing ? Where does Chua Mini fit in this whole thing ? Now that Kamavinga is is on form and is performing better , where , like ? Where , are these players going to fit in and play ?

Speaker 1

And then their back line is tragic . They spent all this money on the front line that didn't need to be fixing , when they probably should have went and got splashed some cash on a center back and a right back and a left back is what they should have did , but they didn't do that and now they're reaping the consequences of the decisions that they're making . The galacticos didn't work the first time and they're not , and they don't , and it won't work again , so we'll see . It's annoying Klopp . Let them run down at the same time . How does your three best players end up like this ? It's true , and it could have just been a situation where they were refusing to sign contracts . We don't know . We'll never know what really happened or what's happening behind the scenes , until somebody writes a memoir or that damn documentary that was supposed to be coming out comes out . We'll never know . We'll never know , like , what happened to that , to that documentary special that was supposed to be coming out , that on amazon that never came out . So that was interesting .

Speaker 1

But , um , our goalkeeper room these days , my god , especially considering how bad it used to be . I know so good . I mean , pepe Reina was really like was our best keeper we had in a long , long time from like all the way back to obviously you know Dudek and stuff like that . But Pepe Reina was like . He was like our best goalkeeper that we had for a little bit . Then we went to carry loris carrious , and who remembers um peter goulash he was a was in our troop as well for a little bit . It's kind of funny . I think people forget about that too . But um , I think didn't we have brad guzon as well at one point ?

Speaker 1

But um red said I can see t Trent becoming a Coutinho 100% . I mean the way that Trent plays . It fits so well with a setup that Liverpool have right now . I promise him Real Madrid is not going to conform to the way he wants to play . He will conform to the way that Real Madrid wants to play , not the other way around . We accommodate Trent , we accommodate Trent . We accommodate Trent a lot on field and I don't think he understands that Canate puts in a quadruple shift so that he can do what he does best right Get forward and be creative and be attacking . That's the main difference between him being at Liverpool versus him being at Real Madrid . It's a difference . He thinks he's going to go there and become Jude and become Mbappe and become a Ronaldo , but you're not that kind of signing for them . You're more of like ah , this is a needed signing versus this is the superstar , big , big , big signing that we're going to make for the summer . So you're not going to get the preferential treatment that you think you're going to get . And then Alex said give it till next season for Mbappe .

Speaker 1

Remember Cristiano Ronaldo had a bad first season with Madrid too , did he ? I remember Cristiano hitting the ground running . I remember they didn't win a lot , but I remember he was scoring a lot . I remember I thought that was the case in his first season at Madrid , but I could be wrong . I could be wrong that in 09 , he was 80 million . Can you believe that he was 80 million euros , bro ? Put this in perspective Sabaslai , sabaslai was 70 million y'all . How times have changed , bro ? For another 10 million , you could have Cristiano . But let me look at this season that he had with my , with my lead in his , in his 08 season . Let me see oh , they don't even have all all of the seasons on here . Oh , wait , no , it wasn't 08 or 09 . Was it 09 ? Was it that long ago , guys ? No , it wasn't . It was 09 . That's so crazy . It was that long ago . That's actually kind of crazy . I don't know , I can't find the stats on it , but I thought he did okay because that's when got his .

Speaker 1

He won the back-to-back Ballon d'Ors , right ? I don't know , somebody will have to look that up . But , per , this is Anfield Dan's back running at the U21s as of October 3rd , but no further details beyond that . Doesn't sound like he's more involved yet . I hope he comes back soon , man , hope he comes back soon . Yeah , and then Ibu is the man . Could he potentially be the best center back in the Premier League right now Over his partner ? I think so . I'm going to be really , really honest . I think so . I'm going to be really really honest . I think so . I'll have to look up the Opta stats on that , because I love looking up the Opta stats , but I think he's close . You guys tell me . You guys tell me what you guys think .

Speaker 1

And then they had cr7 playing as a striker instead of a left wing like mbappe . Uh , no , I remember that he went back to the wing but then got hurt , and then he was forced to play as a as a forward and change his game up a little bit right , or or it's like a combination of both , but a big shout out no , no , afcon this year . Afcon was last year , if you guys don't remember that . So Afcon won't be in for another three years . If I'm not mistaken , it's on a three-year time clock , right , because I know it's always either one after or one before the world cup . No , so , um , yeah , afcon won't be for for a little bit . It's kind of like . It's like their version of the euros . So , oh , it's every . It looks like it won't be until 2025 . So it's going to be next year . I don't know , you guys have to let me know , but I could have swore afghan was every two or three years or something like that . But we'll see .

Speaker 1

Um , which also makes the marmoush deal kind of a little complicated as well . Right , I'm seeing , I'm seeing a lot of chatter on Marmoush as well . All right , guys , I'm bought in . I know I was a Marmoush hater , I know I was an Omar Marmoush hater , but that free kick you banged in y'all it got . It got me believing . I'm a believer now and I think that him and Mo Salah are the only players in Europe right now that are in double-digit goals and assists right now , or in 20 goals and assists . 20 goals and assists I think that's what it is , which would essentially still be the same thing . I'm a marmouche believer , not for 70 million , like like they're . They're they're mentioning out there for not a whole ton of proof of record . I'm giving them a . I'd say 50 million is fair for Marmush , not 70 , 80 like I'm hearing .

Speaker 1

But as for the winners in this week , the on form category , of course we're going . Liverpool FC , you got to top of the league , top of the league in the Premier League , top of the league in the Champions League , which is now a real , in the champions league , which is now a real league , an actual league , which I love . I don't know about you guys , but I love this new format . It also could be the fact that we are , um , you know , doing really well in this new format . But , um , uh , what more can you want from from an rns slot side man ? We are , we are just absolutely humming . This week is going to be great . I'm seeing a lot of people have pulled out of . Uh , what more can you want from an Arnett Slott side man ? We are just absolutely humming . This week is going to be great . I'm seeing a lot of people pulled out of international duty and they're going to be resting . So I think that's a positive thing , especially for our squad . I think Macca's going to travel , so that game back against Southampton just expect us to rotate a lot of players . I think a lot of the especially the guys that are going to be traveling long distances don't expect to see him there . So I'll be interested to see if Harvey maybe gets a run out in that game , some of the guys coming back from injury . If Morton gets another shot in there , I'd love to see that as well . So we will see what ends up happening there .

Premier League Team Analysis and Predictions

Speaker 1

As for the other teams that are in the on-form category for me this week , ipswich you got to give Ipswich a shout out Finally getting a win , baby , taking a huge scalp off of Tottenham . They're finally , you know , clicking in a way that I think that they could have . I think they stave off the drop still . I know it hasn't been great for them , but I still think they stave off the drop . And then , honorable mention to , obviously , wolves as well . Wolves get in their first win against South Hampton .

Speaker 1

Um , it's kind of like a bottom of a barrel type of battle , but shout out to them . I think they are a talented team , um , that just need to kind of put it together . I don't think they deserve to be in the bottom of the table just from the talent that they have . Um , but we but my other team would be Brentford man . Brentford they Frank , has just put together a really great another one of those organizations that do a really good job in recruiting that don't overspend that . You know , do it the right way , have a good , solid manager that they've been given . They give them time right , they give them an opportunity to prove themselves . And they're 11th in their Premier League and they're climbing their way up , man , and the crazy thing is like , from third all the way to 11th , it's like the difference is only one game , three points , one win .

Speaker 1

We could see Brentford hanging around in that top four too . Newcastle is in the mix , aston Villa is in the mix . All these teams are still in the mix . Really , the only distance and separation that we're seeing from everyone outside of that top three , I would even say top two is us and Manchester City , which is kind of crazy . You know , we're at 28 points , man City at 23 points , everyone else is in that 19 to 16 range from third all the way down to 11th , and if we want to get really , really tricky with it , you know you could even go all the way down to 13th place where Manchester United is , and you could say you know they're still the mix to to have a top four finish . So I mean that that last those last two , uh , top four spots , they're up for grabs and I think we're gonna have a lot of surprises , um , going into the end of the season and who ends up in those last couple spots .

Speaker 1

Brighton is there , non them . Force is there . Fulham have been quietly putting together a really great season . Brimford , like I just mentioned , is they're like a live by the sword , die by the sword type of team , and it's really fun to see . And Bournemouth are still in the mix too . And we can't write off Manchester United . Manchester United are still there too , just barely . But it's tragic that they let Ruud van Nistelrooy go for Ruben Amram . I think he had something good going there , but expect to see Ruud in management somewhere . I can see him going back to the Dutch league and making a big impact there , but City will be on for him .

Speaker 1

After the break they face Tottenham , but City will be on for him . After the break they face Tottenham . I hope we have a random Tottenham masterclass that they typically are . They're due one typically that , like randomly , tottenham will just put on a phenomenal performance , they'll look like a huge threat championship material and they just randomly just bang in like a 4-0 win against manchester city . Hopefully we get one of those um . They've already beat them this year in the um in the carabao cup . I know they say city , we're trying to lose , city , never try to lose anything . Let's be real there . So they have that going into it . We will see they have a job to do . But if anything , we'll just beat them . We see them in in a couple of weeks .

Speaker 1

But those are my on-form teams . Out-of-form teams , I'm saying Manchester City and Arsenal . Arsenal , it's a huge blow for them . I know it was only a draw , but in those games you expect to win right . In those games , when you're trying to be a champion , you got to win those games't . You can't lose two games . You can't have four draws .

Speaker 1

I already said it they're out of the title race and if you look at the odds , the odds makers are now predicting they only have a 4% chance of winning this . It's totally a Spurs thing for them to lose to Ipswich and then absolutely skunk city . That's like so Spursy , but can't stay . I have to attend my niece's engagement party . Hey , tell her we said hi . Tell her , we said hi , happily . But we're about to wrap up .

Speaker 1

Anyway , I just want to go over some of these title predictions and then tell you guys about some of the content that's coming out over the international break , of course , but the , the opt to analyst has us at a four , has Arsenal at a four and a half percent chance of winning this thing ? Four and a half percent , they're done . Manchester City have a 34% chance of winning it and Liverpool have 60% chance of winning it . We can't blow this boys . We can't blow this boys . We cannot blow this boys . This is the chance that we needed . This is the chance . This is it , guys . We got to capitalize on this thing , man . So I'm excited for the weeks to come . It's going to be a really cool break . I'm going to be coming out with some different types of videos , some breakdowns and analysis and stuff like that that I used to do .

Speaker 1

If you've been following the channel for meet , we're still going to do a podcast on the following Tuesday , even though there's no matches . We'll talk about any rumors , any news and all of that good stuff . But I appreciate all of you guys . And then Dan said the audacity of slot winning it on his first try . I mean really , I'm out of control , outrageous .

Speaker 1

If he wins it on his first try , guys , we might have to build this man a statue , even if he just does it one time , bro . I mean , juergen has one , has one win , one title , and he's getting a statue . We might have to give him one too , especially if he can pull off a Champions League win out of this campaign too . He may have to go on the Mount Rushmore of Liverpool managers , bro . If he's able to pull out a double in his first season , a Champions League and a Premier League double in his first season manager of the year , mo Salah gets the Ballon d'Or and , depending on how things go , maybe Queeby and Callagher gets a Golden Glove . Who knows , dude , if Allison comes back healthy or not , or if , you know , slot changes his mind and decides to go with Callagher as the , as the number one for a little bit right now , where we've had a brand new manager that was essentially , for the most part almost unknown , come in and turn the entire league on its head and shake everything up unbelievable stuff
