Andy and Kennedy are look back on a Maroon Memory of Hibernian 0-4 Heart of Midlothian from 2nd April 2006
Hello, welcome to Old Castle Rock. We're back. It is still in the middle of the great international break of 2026. And it's Andy Dixon and Gavin Kennedy. We're here to talk. We would say we'd talk everything heart and Midlodian, but really there is absolutely nothing that has happened. Heart and Midlothian, why do you don't think in the last week? I don't know. No games. There's not even been any bounce games or anything like that. So first and foremost, Mr. Kennedy, how are you? How has your international break been treating you?
SPEAKER_03Oh, be great. As you know, I went to Amsterdam with the boys, uh, so feeling very relaxed after that. And yes, I did actually receive a Heidegger Museum tour, so um you'll find that quite amusing, eh? So uh but I enjoyed it, it was a good laugh. So let's go. Yeah, exactly. Aye.
unknownAye.
SPEAKER_01So aye, um so I don't think there has been much else that has happened, and it was announced first and foremost that we have sold out our initial allocation of semi-final tickets. Um so I mean it was pretty plain sailing when they went on sale on last Friday, but it's for me, and we've sold the first bit, so we'll see. Interesting how it comes then going forward. Um so yeah, I mean anything else in regards to uh hearts that I've missed Kennedy because I can't think of anything, I'll be deadly honest.
SPEAKER_03I can't think of I had to think earlier, I couldn't think of anything either, to be honest with you. Um it's just like you say, it's been very good. The only thing we could maybe talk about is the fact that uh the SFA agreed with us on the last bot that the decision was correct for our bendy's goal, that it should have been ruled off ruled off or the hat fault. Whether you agree with that or not, are two different very subjects, of course. Um, as everyone else, uh football's an opinion, so um I don't know if you want to leave it at that because we already went into it last time, so I aye, I think we'll leave it, we'll leave it there than now.
SPEAKER_01Um I think we'll wait because obviously we've still not had Fleming's uh take on anything yet, so it's uh we'll we'll definitely go into that. But basically, I was saying to Kennedy, what is it you want to do this week? Um and Kennedy has said a feature that we are going to we were going to introduce and we are gonna do it a bit more regularly, is something called the maroon memory. Um basically we're gonna introduce it, but having two games a week at this point has been quite hard when we've got so much football and everything to talk about. So, Mr. Kennedy, you have been able to pick this the first maroon memory of the uh old castle rock era. So, what is your maroon memory?
SPEAKER_03So, my memory being fitting, uh uh we're gonna be playing them obviously at Habden for the semi-final. I thought my maroon memory would be from uh April the second of 2006 when we beat Hibernian 4-0 at Hamden at the semi-final in the Scottish Cup. So that's why I chose that particular memory for that. So it might uh bring back some uh happy thoughts to the fellow Jabbo's once for on the international break. Uh five particular because uh he told me to watch the game again, and I actually ended up watching it three times because I enjoyed it that much. So and there were so many things I forgot about what uh happened in the game as well, uh, which is quite funny. Um talk me through then, talk me through then the first the bits of the game then, what's well for first bits I can remember um was actually not to do with the game, it was uh the pre-game. Uh first of all, uh we were uh we got we'd get my friend to drive us over uh because those days it was quite hard to get buses or whatever you so my friend just decided because the article was going to take us through. One of our best mates who was meant to be at the game decided to go to a party the night before, got so hammered, completely missed the entire game because he was so hungover. Uh so that was quite eventful. Um getting to the ground as well, drinking in a car, I was so nervous. I was like, I was barely sipping my vodka and coke at my mate's car. I don't know about anyone else's nerves were like that day, but mine were shot to bits. I thought, oh my god, what's gonna happen here, etc. etc. And then obviously later once we get there, we announced the teams. So, Dickel, do you have the teams or do you want me to do it for you?
SPEAKER_01Or I do have the team, but if you want to go through the team, big man, I will wait, I will bow to you and you can take us through it, take us away.
SPEAKER_03Yep, so it's Gordon, Nielsen, Boo, uh Presley, Boo, State, uh, Webster, Judas, uh, Gon Calvis, uh, Chesnowskis, Bruno, Hartley, Scatchow, Elliot. That's Elliot with one T, not two, and Jan Savskis, if that's pronounced correctly. Uh so I, by the way, what a fucking team I is. Um, it was so good. But I do remember getting a message from my hips friend who was at meant to be at hand in that day, and he mentioned me, I'm in the pub with Mark, and I've decided I'm not going to go to the game because we just seen your team and you're gonna hammer us. And boy, was he not wrong. So here's the thing, right?
SPEAKER_01Here's the thing, just in regards to the team, okay. So actually, I'm gonna talk you through because I was I actually wasn't even 18 at this point. Okay, I wasn't eight. I was I was still I was still under 18 just quite. But basically, I remember going to the game. I remember being in the game really, really early, right? I remember being in there quite early. I remember you'd obviously down and you're you're in the you're in the west stand as normal. I think I was quite low down in the west stand, and it felt like lots of hearts fans were maybe in there quite early. And you remember as the game was building up, it just look looking over, and their end didn't seem to be filling up. Now, I don't know if that's just me, I don't know if it's just a a memory that I've kind of given myself away with some of the pictures that I have maybe seen, but as far as I can remember, their end didn't fill up as you'd maybe expect it to when you look about the end the end that we had. Um and certainly I was like, right, okay, and then obviously they played Seven Nation Army, and I mean it actually had made a that's made a little bit of comeback recently uh over different reasons, but then obviously Seven Nation Army move morphed into a different song, and that kind of highlighted the whole of the the start of that game, wasn't it? And then when you go into the team when you do go into the team and you look and you're like right, so I th the one of the big ones is that Takis Fisas didn't start the game. Takis Fisas was on the bench.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01When you look at the when you do you look at the bench, I mean if you were to take out Gon Calvez and you put in Fisas, um then that's probably just about one that's just about your strongest team, I would say. Um I can't even remember, it's been 20 years, but I can't remember if Fisas had maybe picked an injury up, and that's why he put in that's why Gonkalvick came in. Well, aye, this was the next thing. Was that a Vladimir Romanov decision? Because up until that time.
SPEAKER_03Because there was he wasn't on pure form at that point, he was one of our best players. So was there someone said in the dressing room, or has there or someone's been said to train in? We'd we don't we may know ever knowing unless we speak to the big man himself, eh?
SPEAKER_01Well, this is that, and then but then the end as well, right, is that when you think and jumping ahead and won't again, there's no point, there's no like spoilers, like but Abby Paul had barely I don't know how many games Abraham Toll had actually played for Hass at this point, and he's not anywhere to be seen, but he'll start this he'll start the cup final. So again, it comes down to just how how many of these wild decisions actually happen. Um so yeah, I mean it's no much there is no much more uh changes I would I would have probably had uh to be honest in in regards to the to there. I mean, obviously Roman Bednar doesn't he play. I think he was maybe injured at this point. Um obviously Elliot starts over post-bacill, but again, Elliot was was in that wee bit of a run, wasn't he? He was a wee bit that he was getting that push.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh within the first team as well. He was the one of the next big Scotland copes as well.
SPEAKER_03Cavazola as well was on the bench and he wasn't used as well, I don't know. He was such a use bike.
SPEAKER_01I liked him, but again, I wouldn't he's no as good as Chesnewskis or Mikelunis. And I I always to be fair, I always preferred I always preferred Chesnowskis over Mikel Unis, but either the E2 um is always we're always going to one of the two is more you're gonna be a right hand side. Obviously, I think one of them, one of them could Cesnowskis could play left as well, but again Scatchel's your your left your left winger at this point. He's still he's still a left winger rather than where he moved into the middle near his later time. But uh aye, I mean in regards to their uh quickly their team as well, all Zivi Malkowski, and it's not a bad team either. You mentioned their team, it's not a bad team, right? Okay, O'Connor's been sold and reared and injured, right? But I mean Malkowski's shite, we'll give you that. Gary Caldwell, David Murphy, David Murphy, Krakener Black, Gary Smith, Stephen Glass, Christopher Hogg, Stephen Whitaker, Kevin Thompson, again Scott Brown must be injured as well. Benji, Ivan Sproul, Stephen Fletcher. Stephen Fletcher's 19 years old at this point, he's only just turned 19. And then obviously Conte Condy, even Kennedy's cancer, JM McCluskey, Simon Brown, the other goalkeeper, and Jay Shields was the uh the goalies. Kennedy, I'll let you take us away about the match.
SPEAKER_03So I um started off with quite fast pace. Um the Hibs players obviously where they enjoyed it. Um they did have the ball uh just before the first goal as well. And uh this is where I really remember is that it was Vegas, whatever his name is, um he loses the ball and uh breaks out into a wee attack, and we had four players against three, and we just completely carved them right open. Elliot made a great one, two almost with Hartley. Um and uh the ball from Elliot, and then uh the finish from Hartley as well on the right side of his foot was just exquisite going right past into the corner that A, and uh oh the scenes were absolutely wild, and that goes in A. So um you can see the collapse of the Hiv said already. Um as you said, there was hardly any to begin with. Um but uh it was it was absolute wild scenes like um grateful. What did you think?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean it's hard, it's hard to get a proper just being at the game, and you just you take your your memories at the game at the time, but you're I was quite low down in the wet in the Weststands, so you don't really you generally don't remember it, and it seemed quite a nervous first half as well. I mean when you do watch back the highlights and it's obviously a really well it's a really well move good move for the goal and Hartley takes it does take the goal really well, but not much happened in the first half, like really realistically, not much happened in that half. Like it was it was probably quite cagey, it was something nobody had nobody had seen it before. We hadn't we played them in a semi-final ever, we'd only played them once at Hamden, and it was the occasion, it was it was quite the occasion, it's quite ironic now that how many times we've probably played them in the last 20 years at Hamden and semi-finals and a final, but um yeah, I mean when you look at the finish as well, it clip Hartley clips it on the outside of his foot and just as it's running past him. So, again, that's a technique, it's been in the right place at the right time and have the confidence, you know. He's just taking that little flick um to get the to get the ball away. But aye, it's uh it was certainly in regards to the first half, I don't think there was much else that I can think of. I I'm just trying to remember obviously check my notes as well. I actually got it running.
SPEAKER_03Well, you also had um it wasn't really a chance to talk about, but um it was a substitution made and it was uh Verratt State, whatever you want to call it, Presley, um, and he got subbed for FISAS and he had at 45 minutes. Not sure if it was injured.
SPEAKER_01Well, this is aye, because I remember this at the time. So we had we went again heart and glogan injuries, but we went through the whole without going through like obviously blow by blow, but we did go through this point where Presley picked up an injury and FISAS come on, and then so Fisas came on and went into left back, and by the end of it, Fisas was was playing centre half. So it was just obviously the way that we had to the way that we did have to play because um we had to we basically brought on Presley gets himself injured that comes on at half time, Fleesas comes on at half time, Gon Calves gets injured, he takes quite a bad injury. Yeah, and then we bring Mikael Innis on, and Mika and I can't remember how we would have shaped up, but basically the players there is that Fisas went into play at centre half, and I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Don't forget Chesley and Mefa always like to like sort of switch wings as well, eh? So it was never sort of like a stable sort of like wing, especially with even Oscus on the bench uh doing the decisions there, you know what I mean? So um it was always quite chaos organized, chaos if you like it. Um not to use a current pun, if you know what I mean, but uh that's exactly what it was like back then because of the Vlad platform. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, Free Fash comes on, he comes on at half time. He's when he won he wins the free kick, doesn't he?
SPEAKER_03Um he does, aye. Um basically he was he was trying to turn to Pastor Rudy, he was making a run, and then you just get sort of like ninja down uh by a shocking tackle. Um so you're just like uh you're not surprised that um I think it was like Thompson possibly had done it, uh, because he's one of the ones that got boot. Um but yeah, went right down. And like it was so it was such a weird position because you thought to yourself, your keeper is like just like Bowski, it's just like he's just looking towards the left hand that right hand at first of a goal trying to measure up the wall with one person, and it was like because he's just expecting a cross all day every day, um and then he just walks further and further away, and it's like his position is not actually criminal. If that was a heart's goalie, we would be going absolutely ballistic out of that. Um it was just mental while he was doing that, and then obviously Hartley sees a gap, hey, like a pro and just decides to ask it, go for it, and then it's just such a well-taken free kick, but at the same time, it's just so easy for him because there's daywall, there's no pressure on him, he just has all the time in the world just to get enough run-up and then just like slot home. It's just incredible free kick play.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Aye, absolutely, and then obviously you've got I obviously you mean you remember you you're talking about what do you remember the three kick? I remember this, I remember watching it, and you're like, he's not gonna have a goal three here. And he does, and he puts it in, you're like, Wow, I can't believe he's he has actually he has just done that. Um so aye, and then obviously that's true, you're two-nil up, and it it seems to get a bit you obviously you get more relieved, don't you? As they as the game goes on, and um obviously it's 2-0 2-0 at that point, and then it's uh no long after that is when Gun Calvays gets himself injured and Miko comes on for him. Um so aye, and then going through it, I I don't remember too much of the game. Obviously, you're going with the highlights, the next thing I was saying, the highlights, and again it comes this comes from my memory of the game probably doesn't follow how I think the game how the game actually went. Because I I thought we were more than two-nil up when Sproul goes to gets himself sent off.
SPEAKER_03I thought that as well, to be honest with you, uh rewatching it again. You know, till you watch the highlights that you realize it is 2-0 when Sproul gets kicked with his frustration and kicks out, he kicks Miko in the What happens is that Miko like goes for a challenge first of all, and I think that pissed him off, if you know what I mean, because he got the ball off him and he got it cleanly too, and he just goes wild swinging and kicks and tries to chop him down and then and then decides that to stand on his back. You know what I mean? It's it's absolutely madness from a player of that quality to actually even think about doing that, and it's just like you actually like it was actually such a hip thing, if you know what I mean, for them to do something so idiotic um on a big game like that. I figured it was just at the stage where it was just wanted off because of how the game was padded out, and he got his wish because it was like it was one of those days where you didn't need VAR for that, you know what I mean. The referee would have sent him off all day long for that, surely, you know what I mean? So um uh because it's such an easy decision for referee where it's not even needed to consult with anybody.
SPEAKER_01By the way, the tackle for Miko, when you look back on it, the tackle that he makes is a it's a cracking tackle. It is and then obviously at 2-0, at 2-0 you're stretching the game, and the boss obviously lumped forward, and Malkowski comes barring out for it, basically, and Jankowski just gets that we touch on the forearm and rounds him and just rolls it in. Um it's crazy. I don't know what the goal is doing.
SPEAKER_03That and it's a terrible goalkeeping decisions, you know. He was just so he thought he had so much more time on the ball, but he didn't. And he thought, I'll get my snowpower, and then when he realizes he doesn't, he makes an absolute dog's bill out of it, and then like in Selfskins has just got that league quality to take the ball off him and run them in his slot home with an empty net.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Oh, absolutely, and then he rolls it in, and then you're three nil up, ten minutes to go, and that's you're probably all looking again. If you're the hibs go, you're you're absolutely devastated because you've just got you're down for two of them. And then, but you know, and at this point, you can next game over, you know exactly how this is, you know exactly how this is going. Absolutely wild. Um at that point. Again, I don't really remember, I don't know how much too much of this, as I said, because the game didn't. You probably were away, you've probably got a had a chance.
SPEAKER_03No, no, I was this was the days when I was with Dr and uh we had a car, so we didn't have to dodge away early, like you know what I mean. So I was stuck I was there till the end. But I I still can't remember Smith being set off, like I was hilarious.
SPEAKER_01Obviously 29, and then it was so stupid again.
SPEAKER_03It was just like he just pulls them down by the shark. He doesn't even try to win the ball, he just purposely does it. Thinking if I do this it might stop it from being four, but no, he's absolutely decision to stop.
SPEAKER_01It's a definition, it's what it's what we would call now though. Like what you're calling dogs, aren't you? Like it's a definition of dogs, though. Like, okay, what I mean, you're denying the goal score opportunity, it's a it's a cynical professional foul. Um to be fair, if he probably lets he probably probably let's postbistle get the ball. He's going, he's probably is going away for goal. Um but again, absolutely stupid decisions. You're nine men, you're giving Hartley the chance to get the penalty, get the hat trick, and he takes the penalty well, and again, you're suddenly your full-null up, and you generally at this point you've you're absolutely buzzing. There's always a bit me when I play them, I want to get seven, eight, nine, ten. But again, you're always you've talking, you've you've talked about the aim and in the semi-final, and something at the at the end of that game, I was like, we'll never see this again. We'll never see them at Hamden. I was 17 years old at this point, by the way. I'm 38 now, and we're now racking up more and more and more of these appearances. Um, so yeah, I mean, in regards to that. So what what is your overall memory of? It's 4-0, Kennedy, right? 4-0. We've won the game. You think this is the once-in-a-lifetime Edinburgh Saint Ember, Edinburgh Derby. What is your feelings? What was the what was the the what was your biggest takeaway after it? What was the biggest memory you have after the game?
SPEAKER_03Just remember being really emotional and like really happy and like absolute buzzing. I was like, I just remember because uh I don't know if you if you have memories of the telly of seeing a load of like big inflatable bananas behind the go. Uh, because that was me and my mates. Um we did that for a laugh for Tommy Tony Mowbray chant, you know, with uh each bananas with his feet and all that. Um so we had them at that game and they were like hitting each other with him and stuff like that, when we were winning, and it's just like just having banner with it, you know what I mean? Um just have a great time of it, eh? And uh I can remember one of our lasses that was with us, he had uh vodka purse, and he was like putting it into coconut and stuff like that from the Vivendi machine, Vivendi and stuff like that, you know what I mean? And we were just drinking it in the stadium and stuff, eh? It was fucking brilliant, eh? It was just it was such a good laugh. Um like everyone was just absolute bouncing. It was just the atmosphere was electric. He was singing the heart song like mad, singing a European song like mad. It was just one of the greatest arbies, like one of the top five I would say at least I've been to in all my life. Um just like from the start to finish. It was like start in the morning, it was so nerve-wrecking. I was like, I was my stomach was in bits. I was like, I could hardly eat anything, you know what I mean? I was that nervous and that, and and then eventually once uh the nerves calmed down, the realisation hit that we just we were smashing them, and it was just like this is a great day, an absolutely fantastic day. And I really, really hope that we could do it again and emulate what that day was all about, um, just like putting them in a place and making them realise that they're not as good as they think they are, because they're so deluded. So deluded.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. That's the thing is that thinking everything we done that whole within that whole season, right? How mental that whole season was from the way that we started that season, like a train, sacking Burley, bringing in Rex, having a bit of falter, like even the whole Webster thing as well, and we we forget Webster played that game, he doesn't play much after that. But then the whole Dundee United thing was prior to because that was a February where the whole February I think it was a February after the semi-five or TF, is that what happened? Well, yeah, he he came out the team because Tal comes into the team, Tal takes his place in the team, but then but Webster because Webster doesn't play, doesn't I think he he technically gets offered a medal and doesn't take the medal because he's obviously played the games up to the final but again everything else because obviously Graham Rex gets sacked, even how this comes in, Webster the whole the whole Webster getting dropped at Dundee United and Robbie Nielsen gets dropped, and then with the whole crowd singing won Robbie Nielsen and everything else, the way that we obviously finish that season, obviously, and then to beat them in the semi-final to obviously to get to the final and it's the final itself. You're thinking it's basically a gloried, a glorified win. You're gonna you should win the game because the semi-final was tech the final the semi-final is technically your final with playing Hubs, and then we nearly made a Dugstanny that whether obviously taking great night penalties. Okay, yeah, we should have had a penalty, we should have had a penalty when they he sends off Paul Hartley, can they wait to get the red card out? But you do win the cup final, and you're like, right, and then as this as it goes, the Romanoff, and again, that's that's a totally different three sets of podcasts that we've already done in regards to Vladimir Vladimir Romanoff, but it's it's just meant oh and again probably I think that team is probably as good a team that we'll ever put out of hand in for a for a very, very good long time. Realistically, player for player, pound for pound, I don't think we'll put a better team like in our lifetimes, like before.
SPEAKER_03Um you've obviously uh just for the thing, who else, like Takas Visa's European uh like cup winner for Greece, you know what I mean? Gordon, you know what I mean, uh Snake, um you know what I mean? There's this there's just so many. Um Hartley, Scatchell, Aguilar, Benfica, you know what I mean? And like it's just incredible that that team. Um really and uh even like the bench as well, you're just like that bench is crazy too, eh?
SPEAKER_01Um look at our look at our squad, like when you go back and you look at the squad, right? Craig Goddin, Scotland International, Stephen Presley, Scottish International, Paul Hartley, Scottish International, Andy Webster, Scottish International, Chesnewski, Lithuanian International, Jankowski, Lithuanian International. Scatchell had been in the Czech Republic squad that season as well. Obviously, Elliott is a Scottish under-21 international, and Robert this the this season gets Robbie Newson his co-op to the Scottish international and he becomes a Scottish international. And then the bench, you've got FISA, you've got FISA, Greek, obviously Greek International and European Championship winner. And then Stevie Banks is obviously never going to be a Scottish and English international, but he's a very solid goal. Well, aye. And then Postbissal, I think he played for the Czech Republic, and Mick Lunis, obviously, is a Lithuanian international as well. And you look at that team, you look at the strength in that team, and it's wild just how strong that squad was. And that squad barters just about any squad that we've that we've had in our lifetimes, and I mean barters them. And that bear in mind that bear in mind that obviously Bednar isn't the playing either.
SPEAKER_02Um and it's it's crazy.
SPEAKER_01It is crazy, and I mean obviously your other players within that squad, and like your Neil McCann got injured, so he wasn't the he was coming to the end, but I mean Neil McCann, he's injured, he gets injured in February, March against Kilmarnock, and it's that's him out for the for the rest of his time. He probably doesn't play again four hearts, but it's uh it's mental. Actually, and Abbey Tal, we've mentioned Abby Tall already, he's not even came in to that squad yet, and Julian Brelli is injured. So or no, he must be injured because he's no playing, so there's another player, there's more players and more squad strength and depth in that squad. It's frightening. Then again, then again, it should have got it probably could have got closer than it was. Outside interference is probably one of the reasons why it doesn't get to where it is. And I mean, as a 17-year-old laddie, it was so stability like the kidna scott, eh?
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? So yeah. Well, there is that.
SPEAKER_01And this is this is probably the reason why it doesn't go any f it doesn't go much further than when it does, and then obviously he goes on to win the cup, and again, the other memories and stuff, the European nights could be something else that we can we can discuss at a later date. I think when we I think I think bear in mind my I mean one of the overlasting memories as well. I I joked that I was 17. I wasn't joking, I was, but it didn't stop me going out and woke waking up on a friend's couch the night after uh the morning after and stuff, and it's probably the first proper night out that I had after the football that night. Yeah, and it was it was, and it was again everything going back and watching it and just feeling just that feeling you beating name at hand and thinking you're never ever going to see it again. I think I've said that a few times, but it is one of these memories that you're never you're never ever going to take away, and when it pops up at the beginning of April every year, you definitely don't check out.
SPEAKER_03There we go.
SPEAKER_01But I but again, I've obviously not watched the highlights in chronic chronological order because I've totally forgot how the game actually went and in regards to games to send it off. But I'll never forget that we were making subs and like at the end by the end of the game we had a makeshift defence, and you like still managed to beat them, and they'll always say, Oh, but our team was near that strong. Well, aye. But again, you go through that. I I'd hope so when you look at the defence. Aye, we'll started with, and then some of the players you're bringing on, we should be able to keep that to keep that clean sheet. But yeah, what a night, what a marine memory it was, Kennedy. So thank you very much for introducing that with us.
SPEAKER_03That's alright.
SPEAKER_01Um and then we'll finish it off. Just obviously, the traitors are going to be starting back this week. Um, this is why we we kind of got the record this week because the traitors are starting, and you came what it's like for the apprentice and the traitors. It's like he's no got the eye, it's like he's no got the eye player or a pause button on his telly. There we go. So I'm gonna ask you, Gavin Kennedy, who is the biggest heart of Maglobian traitor?
SPEAKER_03See, that's quite a hard question, like I said earlier, but I have come up with the answer, and it is Mikey Stewart. I'm only joking, it's not him. He's a weedick, but he's no traitor.
SPEAKER_01See, when I was thinking of this question the other day, and I was thinking, this generally could be Mikey Stewart, right? Somebody that played for heart. Played for heart when he was part of a cup winning team at Hibs. He won the week with them, and then he came back and he captained hearts. There's one of your biggest traitors, right?
SPEAKER_03And he won the way for captain, say, because he took the half as well. Chuck toys up for Pram and everything, eh?
SPEAKER_01Jeffrey's bundle, that's not aware of that.
SPEAKER_03Right, 100%. He never liked the way, he was never his cup of tea, yeah. So uh he was always uh Shabalazo's boy, eh? Let's be quite honest with you, like you know what I mean. So um but I um so I actually came up with the biggest rat bastard of all time, and for me, it's not Derek McKinnis, it's actually Chris Robinson, former chairman of Hartley.
SPEAKER_01Wow, I was not I was not expecting that. I was generally not expecting that that you were ever gonna say I was expecting Stephen Presley, because that that's the right answer. Um to me that's the right answer. Um, but I was not expecting Chris Robinson. So tell me how Chris Robinson is the biggest traitor in Heart and Midlodian, Gavin Kennedy.
SPEAKER_03Well, first of all, as you know, um I spoke about this before, so I'll try not to get emotional about it again. Um my dad uh was in the director's box at the time, and he was one of the first group to be anti him for what he was doing with the club. Because my dad was quite business astute and he was quite clever in terms of like how businesses should be running, stuff like that, and he thought Chris Robinson wasn't doing the job that he was meant to be doing because he saw nothing but the debt increasing since Marcia left. It was getting worse before it was getting better, and he didn't know uh Hurts were going to have any stable future, to be quite honest. And him and his friends in the Gustave Club at Key Dragworth got banned from a director's box because he challenged Chris over this. Um he got sent to the executive club, which is now actually the what and you would mean stand the media box in the end that towards the end of it is rain. Um, and also the fact that Chris Robinson is nothing but a lion rat. Um, he did everything in his power to get rid of a tie castle. First of all, by doing a joint stadium with Hibson Street, and is that my race or maybe right?
SPEAKER_00I mean that was something I remember it being talked about at the time.
SPEAKER_03I remember he was talking about Hibson Street and uh when you share a cup of coffee with him, say, let alone a fucking stadium with those cuts in, you know what I mean? So that was a no-no, it was right on the other side of a town as well. Um it's really hard to get to. There's no pubs or boozers or any sort of like thing after the games that we could have used, you know what I mean? I just think it would have been an absolute shampoo idea. He was just thinking of getting rid of his debt so he could sell it on for property, and then obviously he tried it again with the whole Murrayfield thing, and then that's when obviously the pads took a big revolt against him and then eventually led to Save a Hearts of like Gary Mackay and all that. Um, you had also um the also the Vladimir Romanov coming in and uh taking the debt off him, which meant that he wasn't responsible for anything anymore, and uh basically it meant that he was gonna walk away with like money, which he never should have got. Um, the way he treated Leslie Deans um was disgusting as well because uh Leslie Deans saw right through as well. He was also a good friend of the family, uh he sold a lot of our houses. Um, I've got had a lot of time, uh, rest in peace, Leslie. Um but I this everything about Chris I absolutely despised and hated off of me. I know he's got family, and I know he's done what he felt was good, but no one in the club uh ever trusted or liked him because of how he came across, and if he wanted something done, he was gonna do it no matter what anyone said. And it was that shareholders meeting with Tycastle and Burryfield when the whole entire uh room was like shouting and booing and chucking stink bums about the place, and uh that actually happened, um you know what I mean, and uh aye, and then he had to get literally a police escort in and out of the building because he was like being threatened that much uh for what he was doing to our beloved uh CM Tecastle um and I. Biggest rat, that's uh nothing much more I can really add to that to be honest with you, mate.
SPEAKER_01Right, fair aye, that's fine. Um I'm not sure how we can actually go with that one uh wee bit further, but so I'm absolutely flabbergasted, mate. I still kind of get over that. That's what you decided with Chris Robinson. Like, I I get it, I absolutely get it, and there's gonna be loads of people that will definitely agree that Chris Robinson is probably the biggest traitor at heart at heart of Maglovium. I mean, for me it was Presley, it's always gonna be Presley, you're gonna be a Scottish Cup winning captain and sign for Celtic and then do what you did. Um again, coming up at time. Newcastle pumping your chest, everything else, giving it big licks. I get it, I get what his reasoning was for doing it. But you don't do it, it's as simple as that. Um and I it's a bit of a shame because it's probably ruined any legacy that he should have at hearts as a Scottish Cup winning captain, because at the moment they don't they don't come around too often. Um but fuck them, simple as that. Biggest traitor. I mean, people will talk about some of the other ones that have guessed less than the summer, but for me nothing touches nothing touches Stephen Presley as the biggest hearted Midlodian traitor.
SPEAKER_03But that's not your way about angel, if you know what I mean. That was your first real traitor, if you know what I mean, from that sort of era, if you're talking about being like 17 and all that, you know what I mean. So that's why it would be stuck to the memory.
SPEAKER_01I but I remember fucking Save Our Hearts. I'm in the footage, I'm in the bloody cat the news footage, ESTV. I was at the rallies, I was on the parades, I remember Save Our Hearts, I remember everything that happened with Chris Robinson. I know that's fucking young.
SPEAKER_03Well you're gonna be me anyway.
SPEAKER_01Well, I am younger than you, but I still remember it all. I still contributed to save our hearts. So I still contributed to save our hearts and everything else. Like I still remember it. What's that? I believe you, don't worry. It's always Stephen Presley. Fuck him as well. Um yeah, I mean, is there anything else you want to talk Hartley McLaulden before we go? Um I think mean Kent mean Fleming are going to record something about the tenant sixes um come over the next couple of days, and then we'll obviously preview St. Murray next week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think that's it for nobody. So, like you say, as up but we'd have it in a world of hearts with a sucky international breakfast. Uh Clark's gone. So, hey.
SPEAKER_01I genuinely thought you were going to see Steve McMahon in there for some weird reason. I generally thought that's what you were going to do.
SPEAKER_03I wasn't gonna say Clark there, I had to think about his actual name. I was like, wait, I thought you know what I mean. Oh my word.
SPEAKER_01It's been a it generally feels like it's been six months since the last time Hart's played. It's been a it's been a week.
SPEAKER_03The week to ten days in it.
SPEAKER_01So we've still got another ten days to go.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's why we do these pause to keep everyone entertained by the international break and sons. So we can define something.
SPEAKER_01The great international break of 2026, honestly, uh, has been something else. But again, oh I mean uh absolutely but thank you very much for everybody that has been listening. Um obviously at Old Castle Rock, we have been highlighting men's mental health, especially, but anyone's mental health. Um September has been Suicide Prevention Month. It is definitely thought-provoking and tear-jacking. Um, and just oh just to remember that if you haven't heard anybody, heard from anyone, just give them a wee message just to let them know that you are there for them. Again, if you're feeling really down, if you're feeling that you are at the lowest point, is reach out to someone, they can help you, they can make that difference. There is people and there is organizations there that are there to help as well. There's the Samaritans, um, there's they're there 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You have Andy Mann's Club, um, there is they have meetings all over all over Scotland. Um look on their website, you'll be able to find the closest one to you. Um there is also breathing space, another place that that will help you if you you do need that. And there is other there is other ones out there as well. There are the three that I have obviously found and I have talked about, but sometimes just chatting to a friend can certainly help getting something off your chest and not letting things build up because letting things build up certainly uh is not good for you at all. Um, so again, it is okay not to be okay. Um, if you do feel that you do need to reach out, reach out to one of us. If you want an anonymous conversation with a couple of weirdos about heart and midlothing, we'll chat to you about that, we'll chat to you about anything. Honestly, we're there, your your good friends will be there, and if you've not heard for someone, reach out to them as well because you never just never know when somebody is struggling as well. Okay. Um, but again, if you do want to get us, you can get us on all your social media sites, you can get us on the good ones and the bad ones, um, all your streaming sites as well. Um, and again, thank you very much for listening. That's a bye for me.
SPEAKER_03And before I say bonjour, um I just see that James Austral Discord for Scotland under 21, so for me, cheeky hitter with ice we crossed, or at least uh some of the Scotland internationals can play well for uh country, so happy of that. Uh Bonjour.
