Opening And Mission Of The Show

Monique Robinson

Welcome to a Better Chance for Youth television show with your host, Monique Robinson, where we highlight, celebrate, and recognize students from all over the country who are doing great things in the classroom, community, and athletics. Every student deserves an opportunity. An opportunity for hope in a future. So let's celebrate our students, the next generation of teachers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and future leaders. Join us on another incredible segment of a Better Chance for Youth show with your host, Monique Robinson. Hey guys, welcome, welcome, and welcome. I know I always be clapping like I'm, you know, cheering or something. I don't know what's going on with that. But I am so glad to see another day and to be on this side of um heaven. Now, um, most of us here in San Antonio in Texas, we're kind of like, you know, like the end of the day because we can't go nowhere. And we can, but they highly encourage us not to do to the ice. But y'all know your girl is from up north. And yesterday I was at Club Dollar General, and it was like a vibe because they was the only place that had anything you could think of focus. So today I um gotta tell you a couple of our announcements. I'm so excited. Today we kick off our 50-50, um 50-50 campaign with our HBCU icon community icons. Um, that's you know, I hope I pushed the right button. The faces behind the people right here, you know, we have some of the best people who will be here that weekend. We're gonna celebrate them. They are our Nagaral class and they're from those schools right there. So if you see it, um, you might want to, you know, help your school win so they can be, you know, overall champion of the day, get bragging rights because they're school one. So anywho, we also have our uh this weekend, and I don't have the graphics for that, uh, but I can't wait. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain or anything like that, because we get to do our African American History Fair, which is my favorite event other than the send-off, because send off is vibe too, if you've ever been, and I will be sending out that information soon. Um the African American History Fair. I'm sorry, I lost my train of thought. The African American History Fair allows our young people to be highlighted by portraying their favorite African American hero. Now I do kind of do with twists, I don't really let them do the famous five. Use your head, I'm not gonna, you know, you know who the famous five is, but I get excited to see our young people come to life and bring in black history to life. Yeah, I got my sign in the back. Y'all see I'm I'm ready. Um, also oh yeah, wrong graphic, but yeah, that book is my newest book, Sensational Shaitan, and it is actually out on Amazon. Now, if you buy it from me, you know, I might cut you a deal or give you a promo code or something, but it is available. And voting starts for our HBCU People's Choice Award. So we got a lot of stuff going on here, but it's all for a good cause. So it's like, what do I do? Do I vote for my favorite place or do I vote for my school? Hey, whatever you want to do, it's all going to our students because we are a total 501c3 public charitable organization. I said all that. And speaking of that, if you look on the top of your screen and you just so happen to want to send a seed, we do accept donations via give a fly and our um if you don't have give a fly, you still I think it's like a tap give done. So we are accepting donations. Anything that we're raising from this point to the end of the year is totally going towards the HBCU send-off. What's that amount for? But the HBCU send off, I love that event. So anything you send, I will go towards that. Use the QR code, scan it, or you can go to give a fly, tap them done, and it is under a better chance for you for futures incorporated. I feel like the uh person doing the church announcements. Oh, anyway, I am I think I'm done with all the announcements for now. So we are actually going to take a short commercial break. And when I come back, we're gonna bring our guest on that's gonna be here for the day. She's no stranger to us. Now, she might have changed some things and may have, you know, got some different businesses under her belt, but she's no stranger. But I can't wait till she comes on and tell us all of her exciting news right after this.

Guest Q Introduced

Monique Robinson

Welcome back, welcome back. So, um my my seniors, I know it's crunch time. We only have a couple months left, and you know, life is about to start life, but guess what? Don't give up. Um, that is the only thing I can tell you. If you need me, you know how to get me. And then I need to reach out to those young people who was at that presentation a couple weeks ago. I think I'm gonna just call them on the phone because the emails I like to reach out to our young people because the ones here. So if you were at that in service and you're watching this or your parent is watching, uh, check the link, get at me. Um, I really need to ask you all some questions and see how we can help you further. Um, also, while I'm thinking about that kind of stuff, um we have today, um, today, just keep reiterating, today, um, we have one of our board members who will be on here, but she also has her own, like she does a whole vibe. Now she probably started laughing because y'all know I have jokes for days, but um, like I said, she is no stranger to our show, and she also has multiple businesses, and I just think she's a whole vibe. So I'm gonna bring her on, and I will admit, and she probably laughed. Let me bring her on. Hey lady, how are you?

SPEAKER_06

Hello, hello, how are you? How are you? Hello, all of the people, how are y'all doing today?

Monique Robinson

Good, been scratching my nose on public. I'm sorry, it was I felt like it was something there, and I'm sitting here going like this, I ain't see nothing. But I am good. How are you on this cold Sunday, even though it's not really that cold inside the house?

SPEAKER_06

Just trying to stay warm, you know, staying warm, staying busy.

Monique Robinson

Awesome sauce. So, what have you been up to now? I you like no stranger. I didn't say your name because I always allegedly get accused of saying your name wrong. So tell the people what your name is and tell them what you do.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, so my name is Sequitez. I'm known by Q. Um, I licensed skincare professionalist. I am also certified in the medical industry in the skincare world. So I also do injections such as Botox, fat dissolving, which is like the liquid lipo. I do the medical grade chemical pill. So I really love and I'm all about like actual skin and aesthetic transformation.

Monique Robinson

Oh wow, that's a lot. You don't be scared.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, and one of one of the big drivers to my spa is actually um the Japanese head spa, which is an actual amazing relaxing service, um, very beneficial.

Monique Robinson

Yes, I had this, but you know, we're not gonna talk about my session because they don't the only session that I've ever had to take the client's phone, like give me your phone.

SPEAKER_06

No, no phone.

Monique Robinson

Put me out out there on front street. I'll just play. But it was so relaxing, though. I must say, so if you are interested in that, I can't. Well, let me see.

SPEAKER_06

Peach might let me, she might let me get it now, but because they kind of oh you know, you gotta you gotta come before the retwist. You can't, you you cannot get me first dick. Okay, you cannot.

Monique Robinson

I will come before the retwist, but let me tell you, that day I slept so good. Like I was, you know, I'll be honest. I'm very, very, I'm probably the worst patient in the world because I ask a thousand questions, and if something is different, I look at it kind of weird, if that makes sense, and so but I'm also like I don't have a high tolerance for medical pay. So I'd be thinking, like, is this gonna hurt? It'll hurt a little bit, I ain't knowing. Like, it's okay, right?

SPEAKER_06

Right, like, no, it's a full relaxing service, full relaxing.

Monique Robinson

I'd be like, mm-hmm. But you said something earlier, um, and you were talking about injections. What is that entail? I'm scared of shots. Let me be honest. I'm not like COVID. The lady had to count me down and talk. When I go to the doctor, they have to like trick me into giving me a shot.

SPEAKER_06

So I understand. So, yes, I'm a certified injector, and I work under medical direction, so I keep everything safe and fully professional. Um, so with my injections, I offer like facial balancing, like the fillers, the chin, cheek, you know, the jawline, you know, get your face balanced out real good. Um, I also offer Botox. Um, so for everybody that needs, you know, wants to look a little bit younger. And also the Botox is also medically um used as well. It also helps with headaches. Um, people come and get it in the armpits for overly sweating, hands, feet, for sweating. So the Botox is a very beneficial medical um procedure as well. Um, the other injections that I offer is the fat dissolving, which is the I choose to use the PCDC, which you can get it in the stomach, the double chin, the bra, the back fat, the thighs, the arms, just the hard to lose fat areas. It's like liquid lipos. So once I go in and inject it, that fat's not coming back. Um, on top of that, I do the medical grade chemical pills. So I offer like the VI pills and stuff like that, which actually gives your skin a real transformation. So that is the medical side of the spa.

Spa Hours And Access

Monique Robinson

Wow, that's kind of cool. I mean, that's that's a lot. Like, I've been to the spa, I haven't been to the newer part yet because you I know you changed since the last time I've been there, but like, what are the hours of the spa?

SPEAKER_06

So I'm open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday, you can catch me as early as 8 a.m. And depending on the day, like Saturday and Sunday. Sunday I close a little early, I close around 6 p.m. You know, gotta get ready for the week. Um, but on Saturday I'm also open until 8 p.m. as well. Okay, sound that sounds like I like to make it yeah, I like to make it convenient for the people that you know work and can't come to get relaxation until after work, but also the people that want to come while the kids are gone, you know, or want to skip a day of work and come relax with me, you know.

Break And Sponsor Message

Monique Robinson

Hey, either way, no problem here, no problem here. I'm gonna take a short, short commercial break because you know we gotta help people out because a lot of people they sew into us, and so I just like to make sure that they're covered. Right, of course. And afterwards, I want you to tell us because you got two other businesses that you kind of like holding back and don't want to tell us about. So after that, um, after this commercial, you you on the spot, yes, ma'am.

Um, he will be acknowledged at the fall in May, I know. So, therefore, you guys that want a game, y'all can quit trying to steal my game, and you can get your own from him. He'll be here, Mr. Maurice Jordan. Uh congratulations. But uh back to you, ma'am. What's what's this business? This other business you got.

SPEAKER_06

So I also have the HBCU major eight team, Royal Motions. We are a major eight team from ages five and up, um, on up to high school. My oldest, my oldest girl right now is a teenager, 13. Um, my youngest is five. Um the dance team is not just a team, it's like a sisterhood, like it's a bonding thing. So I not only we not only dance and perform, we compete, we travel, we do social, we do social events like community service and stuff like that because I want to teach them more than just dance. I want them to have discipline, confidence, and leadership in the community. And the only way that I feel, the best way that I feel that I do that is by leading them. And I don't know, I just have a passion for little girls and like seeing them do their thing on the dance floor and like being a part, like to see them grow, especially new dancers. I love new dancers because to see a dancer grow from beginning to just something uh beautiful and amazing is just I I love it, I love it.

Monique Robinson

Awesome, yeah. Because I know last year, you know, we made a truce this year, so I ain't gonna bring her name up. Like, I don't want no problems to that, but she got lucky that she got lucky. I'm just gonna put it that way because I was battling her for real. She's lucky this year.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, she says she's friends this year, y'all friends.

Tax Services And Purpose‑Driven Work

Monique Robinson

We're not beefing, we friends this year, so give her the day out. So um, right, right. Yeah, you you talked about your majorette, but you got one more thing that you do that you kind of like not telling us about that's important, so y'all might need to get there with this.

SPEAKER_06

I am also a professional tax preparer, you guys. So if you guys need any taxes done, I like to specialize in small businesses and business taxes, 1099, um, independent contractors, W-2's all of it. Any anything you need done with your taxes, feel free to contact me because I'm also a tax preparer.

Monique Robinson

Awesome. Look at you just you know, making all the coins when I grow up, I'm gonna be like you.

SPEAKER_06

So um, well, you know, with this economy, we gotta have a million things going on.

Monique Robinson

You make bad, you gotta have about 99 hustles, you gotta have a couple of things.

SPEAKER_06

Right, right. Right. But honestly, with me, Dr. Dr. Robinson, I honestly each business that I have, it's it's a passion behind it. So it's not even for the money, it's it's it's literally each each business that I open or own or anything like that, is for I do everything with a purpose. I like I like I tell my girls on the team move with a purpose all the time. So I like to make everything intentional and with a purpose. So honestly, if I was making nothing from it or something from it, everything that I'm dealing with and have my hands into, it's a passion for me. So it's it's about giving back for me.

Monique Robinson

Okay, well, I truly can see that in how they perform and how they um they just get excited when they dance. I'm like, mm-mm, that's too much work for me. Okay, I love it. I love it, I love it.

SPEAKER_06

I love it from the girls, from the girls to the clients at the spa. Like, I just love like seeing giving a person confidence and giving a person a smile is you know, it makes my day, so it is it's worth it.

Booking Details And Promo Code

Monique Robinson

I can truly, truly understand that I can see how that would be kind of like you know what we do here at a better chance. We don't get uh paid. This is totally volunteer based, and you know, 501c3. So everything we do, we just pour back into the community, into the young people across uh the land that we actually help. So before I let you go, do you have like ways that people can contact you? Do you have like contact? Because I know they're gonna ask because y'all go get that Japanese, it'll change your whole life.

SPEAKER_06

Ask me right, right. And I have great specials going on, great deals going on. And if you use the code ABCU when you book, you'll get an extra ten dollars off.

Monique Robinson

Okay, let me say promo code. I need to book under my name in this.

SPEAKER_06

Um, I can be found on any social. Um, I have a number 726 223 9100. That number can reach me. At any time, text, call, any questions, any information, I can give it to you, no problem.

Monique Robinson

Awesome, awesome. Look at you. You just got all this stuff going on since last time we talked. You know, you you know got established like a ring of things, that whole business, balloon business.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, well, all right.

Monique Robinson

I'm I'm proud of you. Anyway, we can support, you know, we always are here to assist and help. But um, thank you for coming on. I truly appreciate you.

SPEAKER_02

Like, look, can you come on? Because we need you. I I need the world to know about you. So, welcome to the show. Our guest, um Hey, how are you? Oh, Siani? Can you hear me? I don't know, the technical difficulties let me try it again. Are you with us? Are you with us, ma'am?

SPEAKER_04

I can't hear you.

Monique Robinson

Oh no. Oh, with the punches. Sorry, yeah, we had a little technical difficulties. I don't know what's going on. But anywho, welcome to the show, Siani. I am so glad you were able to grace us with your presence today and on this cold Sunday.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you for having me.

Monique Robinson

Anytime, anytime. So uh you a big senior. You ready you ready to graduate?

SPEAKER_04

I am. I'm ready to go. I think I got a senior artist. I'm ready to graduate.

Monique Robinson

You ready to graduate or you ready to yes?

SPEAKER_04

Both. I'm ready for college.

Monique Robinson

Okay, okay. We'll say it there.

SPEAKER_04

I'm just excited. I'm just excited.

Monique Robinson

Now, I I had to have you on the show because I follow you. You know, I follow everybody. I'm I'm you know, just like that. And I you have a unique hobby. Yes, and when I've seen that, I was like, what? Um tell us what this hobby is.

Raising And Showing Pigs In FFA

SPEAKER_04

Um, I raise pigs, so I've been in the FFA program at my school, James Madison High School, for four years now. And every year I get like a baby, I go and buy a baby pig like about this size from breeders in the middle of nowhere, and I raise them until be like until they're like 300 pounds, and I show them every other week at major prospect shows in front of different breeders and in front of different um companies and stuff. And so I get uh money sometimes doing fundraising for my animals, and um it's just like really just having a big baby that you take care of every day, and you get to um make sure you maintain the hair growth and everything. So I really enjoy um showing pigs.

Monique Robinson

Oh my god, you just made me like have a whole Charlotte's Web moment in my hand. Like, girl, that's how did you get into that?

SPEAKER_04

Um, I've always just really liked pigs, and so when I found out that I could do it in high school and do it every single day, um, I finally got to experience my freshman year. And my freshman year, it just started off with just learning, learning like the like the small things about pigs, not necessarily getting to do the hands-on part. And then my sophomore year is when I got to do the hands-on part, going to buy my own pig, and then raise them into these really big animals every day. And so um, being in the FFA program really allowed me to do everything that I wanted to do with animals, so yeah.

Monique Robinson

Amazing. That is that is so that's really cool. I'm I'm will not lie to you. I'm scared of animals, like all my friends.

SPEAKER_04

They know if if it's a dog, a cat, uh I would say pigs, they're really lovely animals and they're very smart, so you wouldn't be scared of them if you got to meet one. Yeah, they're very they're really sweet, they're really sweet and loving animals. They love to be rubbed on, love to be pet, like they're really sweet animals.

Monique Robinson

You like keep them inside the house?

SPEAKER_04

No, we have barns at my school, so every pig has their own pen, and so you keep it um full with hay, and so that's what they lay on, and then every day you feed them two to two times a day, and then whenever you feel like it, I do in the morning and the afternoon, um, like hair and skincare treatment for them, so it keeps their hair clean, keeps their hair growing and everything. So basically, it's just like a baby, you have to make sure you take care of it every day, um, keep it like their body moisturized and all of that and stuff, and so just keeping close eye on them.

Monique Robinson

I have learned something new today. That's so cool! Well, congratulations on that.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, because that has to be a tax now, not it is very time consuming as well, too.

Academics, Sports, And Honors

Monique Robinson

Oh, wow. Not only are you handling business with the pigs, but from my research, you also are handling business in the classroom. Now, that GPA, I was like, whoa, yes, ma'am what's that looking like? I know, but I want the people to know.

SPEAKER_04

So, all four years I've been taking honor classes and AP classes as well as being a dual sport athlete with track and volleyball. Um, I've maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom, and finally recently just um got recognized for graduating with honors, uh cum laudi for maintaining my 4.0. So I'll be graduating May 25th with honors.

Monique Robinson

You go, girl. That's a that's black girl magic. She ain't playing with nobody. Okay, well, congratulations, definitely.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you.

Monique Robinson

That is a hard you you have younger siblings, yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_04

I have a little sister.

Monique Robinson

Oh lord, that's a tough act to follow. Oh goodness. Well, she probably is. I mean, yeah, you set a standard, so she just gonna meet it too.

SPEAKER_04

She's gonna fall behind, she's gonna fall behind.

Monique Robinson

She's an athlete too, yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_04

She does basketball and she does a little bit of volleyball, and then she's also a chef as well.

Monique Robinson

So oh, that's oh, oh wow. So y'all just have y'all be y'all keep your parents busy.

SPEAKER_04

Booked and busy around here, yes, ma'am.

Monique Robinson

Golly. Well, I'm glad you were able to spend a little time with me today. Now, uh, you guys, if you're watching, um, hit the like, share, comment. Also, if you look up, um, we do have our givea fly code. And um something that she kind of caught wind of this morning is Ciani is actually one of the two candidates um for our HBCU community awards. And so this year we have two scholars that are HBCU bound, and Ciani got her note this morning. I hope you got it this morning.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I did.

HBCU Goals And Veterinary Path

Monique Robinson

So I'm excited for her for that as well. Now, when you go to college, what do you what do you because you done you got pigs, you got all kinds of stuff going on. What are you, what are your goals when you get to college?

SPEAKER_04

So when I get to college, I plan to major in pre-vet med because I want to become a doctor, um a veterinarian, and specialize in radiology. So I'm planning to go to an HBCU, um, hopefully North Carolina AT, uh, where I can join their agriculture program and still be hands-on with the swine that they have. Um, because I got to visit there on a college visit for uh track, and so I really fell in love with the campus, got to see the pigs and like the farms and stuff. So I really hope to go there, still do athletics as well. Because I've been doing athletics my entire life. And so um, beyond athletics, I really plan to um start my veterinarian uh career and be hands-on with the pigs as well.

Monique Robinson

That is truly, truly awesome. Um, so your ultimate goal is to go to a school where you can still connect with the pigs because that's your future goal is being invented. Okay, look at you! She got the young people. Y'all need to be like her because she has a plan. I'm just saying. I'm just you know, I breathe. I deal with young people all the time, and sometimes I'm like, what do you want to do? And they like, uh no, y'all need to have a plan. She done told me A, B, C, Andy. So that means you're gonna finish there, go to grad school, and and look at you. And then you still gonna play basketball and all that too?

SPEAKER_04

Uh volleyball and track. Um, if God has a plan for me to still continue to do both, I will. Um, also, um, if I don't get to still play track and volleyball after college, I plan to be a volleyball coach and coach AAE volleyball. So therefore, I still have a little piece of that sport side with me as well. If I'm not being the one to play it, girl.

Monique Robinson

You on the ball. Um, well, I am extremely proud of you. So this week, if you do get our newsletter, you will see Siani's full story. Am I saying your name right?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, ma'am.

Scholarships And Community Support

Monique Robinson

Okay, I have to ask because I have like that southern very select few that can get it right the first time. So yay! Um, so you will see her full uh story and her pictures as well in this week's newsletter. I am extremely proud of you. Uh, she is one of our scholars that um attends our monthly meetings, which we haven't had our monthly meeting this year because this year started kind of rocky. So I do apologize. Uh, we had some unforeseen circumstances and some losses, but we are back. But Ciani is one of our uh our scholars, and um, I will probably not be able to vote because I was like, who do I choose? Because I have both of them that are my scholars, but hey, uh, I'm proud of both of them. So either way, I'm proud of you. And then also before we go, uh before I let you go, what do you need from like the colleges and the alum? Like, is this is it scholarship stuff? Like, what is it that you need? Because guys, if we got a young person as powerful as this, y'all need to be paying attention.

SPEAKER_04

Well, with me um planning to go to college to still do athletics and still be hands-on with the swine. Um, my mom with my mom being a single mom as well, and having four kids, and I've always been the expensive one. Um, I would love to get support from all the alumni and all these colleges with scholarship, a scholarship that I could apply for to get scholarship money and help fund me go to college. So um a lot of scholarships that I could apply for with help and just support from any and everybody that I that I can get support from.

Closing, Voting, And Final CTAs

Monique Robinson

Awesome, awesome. So I would definitely pair you with some of our scholars that we have at the school that um school of of choice, and then also I'll see what I can do on my end. But I truly, truly appreciate you taking time out of your day on this cold Sunday. I haven't been outside today.

SPEAKER_04

Yesterday I was it's freezing outside, but it's getting it's getting hot. The sun in Ken out, so everything's unicing right now.

Monique Robinson
