A surprise package hits the mailbox and suddenly the show turns into something you can’t script: real gratitude, real emotion, and a reminder that the people from your past can show up right on time. I’m Monique Robinson, and I’m sharing important updates for A Better Chance for Youth, including the wins, the growing pains, and the community partnerships that keep our scholars moving forward.
We talk through this year’s HBCU send-off support, why I’m grateful for board members past and present, and how partners like the Urban League helped us provide practical essentials that make college life easier. I also give a clear update on the Takeisha A. Davis Scholarship, including the first cut and what it means to keep going even when you don’t make the first round. If you care about HBCU readiness, scholarship guidance, and youth mentorship in the community, this is the kind of behind-the-scenes clarity families rarely get.
Then the episode shifts into a special treat: MzMo Music. After losing my writing coach, I found a new way to cope, process, and tell the truth through songwriting. You’ll hear songs about love, boundaries, consistency, betrayal, healing, faith, sisterhood, and Black Queen energy, plus where to stream the catalog on major platforms. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs encouragement, and leave a review with the song theme you want me to create next.

Season Updates And Board Thanks
Monique RobinsonWelcome, welcome to the show. So today, um, it's kind of like I don't have a guest, but I need to give y'all some updates because a lot, a lot, a lot has been happening. So if you are reading our newsletter, actually, I didn't even welcome you guys. Hey, welcome to the show. I am your wonderful host, Miss Mo, Dr. Mo, whatever Mo you want to call me today, but as long as it's something pleasant. But anywho, now back. We have had an amazing season this year, and every season bring on new things, new responsibilities. So if you are reading our newsletter, you notice that I thank all of our board members, past, present, current, and even ones that may not be with us uh moving forward, but it's okay. Um, sometimes you have to grow, go, and move in order for more things to be able to get accomplished. Now, I have had the pleasure of um a lot of things happening.
HBCU Send Off Partner Shoutouts
Monique RobinsonSo the first part of the show will strictly be um ABC and some of our community partners. So I would like to also thank anybody who contributed in any way to our sixth annual HBCU send-off, I think it's six or five, I done lost count somewhere. But each year it gets better and better, you know. And I am so amazed and so proud at a lot of our scholars and alumni that took the responsibility this year. Shout out to two major origin organizations, um, Austin Area, Urban League, in collaboration with the San Antonio Satellite Office, um, came through in a major way. Shout out Mr. Quincy Dunlap, uh, Mr. Dodie Watson. Um I said his last name wrong, so sorry if I did. But um, they came through with the clutch with the microwaves, other essentials for our scholars, and our board members stepped up as well. So I would just like to thank anybody who took part. Uh, because the list can go on, and when you start naming names, sometimes you actually forget some. So um, it is truly not my intent if I forgot you, but know that you are notily appreciated. Now, we also uh Cassano, uh, Mr. uh the person there in charge of that office is sowing a seed in our scholars' lives really soon. Um, I did get that update, their processing is paperwork, but make sure we're gonna make sure they get this. So it has been a wonderful season. And the last update before we go into a commercial and you know about another project that is coming through, not ABC, but it's another company that I have acquired. Um been doing some work with, which is really cool.
Scholarship First Cut And Top 50
Monique RobinsonBefore we go to break, our uh Takeisha A. Davis Scholarship Updates. If you are getting a newsletter, we did our first cut. And if you were cutting the first cut, please, please, please, don't take it as a hit, don't take it as a loss, take it as you know what, I'm still gonna work with this organization because someday we may be able to connect you with something that's gonna impact your life. But thank you, you know, thank you for applying, thank you for even going an extra mile and following through. But now we are up to our top 50. So, you know, but I just thank them and I really appreciate them for giving their all. So after this commercial break, I have another announcement because this show is uh gonna be different today.

Unboxing A Classmate’s Surprise Gift
Monique RobinsonUm Miss Mo, Monique Robinson. I am here today, and like I said, we don't have a guest, but I'm just providing updates and some real exclusive information that you are only gonna get here today. I don't even know if I'm gonna submit this. I might because it's important. Now, like I told you before break, uh sometimes we have people that I won't say sometimes, all the time. I have people that just, you know, show up for me in major ways. You know, either it's dropping me a letter, Monique. I'm thinking about you, Monique. Um, I heard that you did a thing here. So today, oh Lord, I want to turn my back to you guys. I get this nice package in the mail, and I'm gonna unbox it on here. I don't want to tear the paperwork because I want to make sure I send a nice, I mean nice things, you know. So I have a package, and just tell you a little story about this package. This package is from one of my classmates that knows me personally. Um and young people, if you are watching, even some old people, never you never know how life will end. And you know, I'm gonna say it that way. You never know how life will end to reconnect you with people that you uh grew up with. So this person has sent this lovely uh package, and I'm struggling trying to open it, but I don't want to break nothing. She sent this lovely package to me. She actually went to, we graduate together from Colonel White High School for the Arts. And then um I remember being in Cleveland for a workshop. And I was in Cleveland for a workshop to help out Mr. Anthony Brown, Dr. Anthony Brown, and I heard this person scream and they ran towards me and they hugged me, and it was just like, who is this? And it was Shantae, Shantae Coasting. Um Lord, I think we've been in the same homeroom together from seventh grade all the way up to our senior year at Colonel White High School. And so those who know, I did a thing on March 29th, 2026. Um and Shantae said, I gotta send you something. Now, those who know Shantae, Shantae was so quiet in school. And when I seen her in Cleveland, girl, you wrap this. When I seen her in Cleveland, she I was just so amazed at what she blossomed into. Shantae was a very quiet, unless you're probably watching this, like, why am I telling her business? Okay, I think that's it. Nothing in there. Okay, nothing in there. Shantae, what is this? A box of boxes? All right. Those who know, Shantae was extremely quiet in high school. Um, she wasn't like, you know, so to see her on stage with her sorority, Shantae is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Row Sorority Incorporated. And so to watch her lead that step team, watch her on the Macy's parade, I was, you know, I became like a fan. I was like, Shantae, you better go. I am so proud of you. So on March, this March, uh, when I became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Shantae sent me a nice note and said, friend, sister, I got you. So I'm unboxing this gift, so I don't know what's in here. We will see. Um, I'm like this. Oh my god. So it has like it, it has like so many things. I love it, I love it. And it has I know how I am about that name like that. So I don't know what else is in here, but we're gonna look we're gonna go deep sea diving because paper. Love it. I don't know how I'm gonna pack it back, so I'm scared to take it out. What else is in here? Oh my god. I love it. Okay, yes, I am number 64 of 76. I have 76. Beautiful, amazing. I love it. Pencil holder. Okay, Chante. You uh I'm trying not to cry on camera because I don't want nobody talking about me today. Whoa. Okay, now you outdid yourself. I will show pictures later, but this is amazing. I'm trying not to cry because these are oh my god, it's so beautiful. Everything in here, I love it. And then you can even have my name on everything so that you can take it. But I love it. Shantae, you have truly showed up and showed out in a major way, and I don't have anywhere to put this stuff on my desk. That means I need to clean up my desk, but I'm loving this purse. Uh I don't know what this is in here. Um, but I like this right here. So, Shante, thank you so much. Oh my god. Um I'm speechless because I should have when you posted the picture, because I'm nosy, you posted the picture on social media, and I was under the impression that I was like, okay, well, those are nice. She got some trinkets. Girl, you have outdone yourself. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. Um I appreciate you. This this is is wonderful. I um didn't expect any of this. So I had to go to a commercial, so I won't start crying because those who know me know I get real. But I thank you. Um people who know me personally know that I um this has been a lifetime goal for me uh to complete my mom's legacy because my mom is a crowd member of the uh Dayton Alumni chapter of Delta Single Data Sorority Incorporated, as well as some of my other family members. And hey, I'm I'm speechless. I definitely have to go to commercials, but thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I truly, truly appreciate it.

Why I Started Making Music
Monique RobinsonWelcome back, welcome back. As you see, I am still trying not to cry, but um, the second half of the show is definitely going to be something that is a special treat. You know, the gifts I wasn't expecting, so that was a true reaction. It wasn't stage. Y'all see me struggling opening the box, but the second half, you guys, is up for a definite treat. Alright, so you all see me caught off guard by the wonderful gifts. So this is my gift to you. So a couple months ago, I started a um a new way of coping with some of the things that I was experiencing as soon as January hit, this year is like a natural. Um, my writing coach passed, and here I was with a whole notebook of stories and things that I sit and think about sometimes. So you all will be the first to be introduced to Miss Mo music, um, learning how to do the video graphics, but however, you can like, share, comment, listen to the songs on all music platforms, Spotify, iHeart music, and let me know what you think. So if you're watching, I will play all the songs that I have videos for. However, it's like 27, 28 songs in the catalog, and let me know. Um, if I get enough interest, then maybe I'll start singing my own music instead of writing.
Miss Mo Music Theme Track
SPEAKER_20Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_19Step up, lean and big dreams on the screen again. From the block to the band to the big stage playing. We talk, wins, talk, grind, talk. Yes, you can.
SPEAKER_07Hey, welcome to a better chance TV. Speaking to the future on your stream, with your old money, Robinson, you see. We talk like talk, fuss, talk, great, we talk like talk, fuss, talk, race.
SPEAKER_13Two jackets kicks on her feet, only the chair, oh, cool, on beat by life, right on the next big day, now they all night, two doors, swing wide, nice, put it, put it, doors, all the stop we just stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, and we're gonna be able to watch the light.
SPEAKER_10Join us as we talk like entrepreneurs, tips, and tips on the leg, while we hide the cube across the leg, across the legs, across the leg Top, talk, talk, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_16You
Love Story Song And Romance
SPEAKER_16smile across a crowded room, like somehow we'd already met. You knew my favorite songs by heart. Remember things I never said. Long drives under city light, talking till the morning came. You looked at me like I was home, and I believed you felt the same.
SPEAKER_14Coffee dates and Sunday lights, dreaming about what we could be.
SPEAKER_16You had me falling little by little without ever asking me to leave. Forever in your eyes. After all these next things. That's just real. At first you couldn't get enough. We call it into something. And I'll see you later. Turn into baby next jump. Uh the money, straight, slowly, ugly, just a bit. Start a mistake, so it's standing right here. You want it all the best of me.
Setting Boundaries And Choosing Peace
SPEAKER_14Stop watching my phone light up. Stop making excuses for someone who never showed it up. I realize real love shouldn't never feel like guessing. It doesn't leave your heart constantly second-guessing. Consistency speaks loud as a sweet. Words ever will love isn't a host often too grown for games, too grown for hide and seek. If you can't say what you mean, then don't come looking for me.
SPEAKER_16He'll truly everything so his actions will say everything is worth a truth. Because we all have this patient and then you have to see Pillar my trust. He'll love me consistently, exactly where I am, completely me. With too wrong for gaze. I'm not playing this game anymore. If your actions don't match your work, I'll ride out bad though. No more confusion, no more wondering why. The next love I accept will never leave me. Questioning why my defense is real, but so is the love I'm saving for someone who's real. I don't regret loving you. Yay. You tell me what love should never be. Sometimes a lesson is greater than the loss. You showed me that chemistry isn't commitment. Potential isn't a premise. So I keep my heart open, but I'll never abandon my peace. And I'm not playing this game anymore. The next man who finds me won't have to decode my heart. Cause simply love and honestly, consistently, completely. No more mixing. Just real love that kind of never leaves you.
Anxiety, Decisions, And Growth
SPEAKER_16Standing in the valley where the choices echo. Every path looks possible. Every step feels fragile. My mind runs ahead of my feet. Every outcomes I haven't lived yet. I wait tomorrow can scarce today. Afraid of losing something, I haven't even gay. I ask myself who I'm becoming. But trying not to disappoint who I've been. Each decision feels like a door. Then I closed forever. Once I remember to open it like choice, this can make me stress and feel worthy. Because choosing means trusting, trusting means letting go of control. I don't know if I'm ready for that. I stand still long enough to listen to the small voice beneath the noise. It says growth is never comfortable. Peace doesn't come from certainty. So here I am unsure but peace. Shaking but still stand in the value of decision. Learn that even as decision is part of the journey. And
Sisterhood And Mutual Support
SPEAKER_16hand in hand, side by side, working together with purpose and pride. My sister, my friend, I you'll keep her until the very end. If you're smart, it's hidden by the weight of the dead. I'll remind you that still right away. If your face is shaken, lean on me. Together, the thing will ever be. When you go to the whole design, never take a look from mine. Let's move for every queen to store. And together we'll open every door. No comparison, no competition. Just love with the brain, it's a wheel and bring the change of eyes. Remind you just how powerful you've always been. The doubt comes back in your book. Celebrate.
Legacy And Community Purpose
SPEAKER_16What is the legacy we're leaving behind? We all build this, we all dream us, we all believe this, we all believe us, we're starting for party, we both want family, we give one purpose. We're building too, we're raising bodies, we're generating celebration, you're doing season you it's bad, it's not even a lot of people that are.
Healing After Goodbyes
SPEAKER_16Some people are a season, not for ever in the plan. I'm good. Not because I never cried, not because I found a way to hide. To face the hurt and let it be real. Every scar became a lesson I could use. Every goodbye led me to the truth. I finally see what I misunderstood. I'm good. I stopped asking all the questions that never have replies. Stop searching for the reasons and the silence of goodbyes. Now I wake with hope inside me. Peace where fear once stood. Life kept moving, so did I. And somehow that's been good. I don't hate you, I don't blame you anymore. Some doors close because they're meant to make us walk towards something more. If I store read it, then maybe that's what love can do. Sometimes letting go is loving yourself too. I'm good because my heart still beats, still believes there's more to see. I found strength inside the pieces. What was left behind by me? Tomorrow doesn't have to look like yesterday. Grace has a beautiful way of making broken things brand new. And today I finally believe it too.
SPEAKER_15So if I'm saying this is because I trust you.
SPEAKER_03What's
Honest Love Without Pressure
SPEAKER_03real with you than chase a moment we might lose? I don't want more than what is right. I don't want the birds, it's like pressure, it's like fear just love being honest.
SPEAKER_16I love you, I do, but I love who we are too.
SPEAKER_15And I feel you, I do, that's why I'm careful with you. Some of them don't need a move to prove it on Swedish still is true.
SPEAKER_04We don't have to go too far. Don't know how deep we are. If I ever lean, it's comfort first. Not temptation, not a thirst. I'm not asking you for the truth. I'm just trusting you with truth.
A Friend’s Voice Note Of Strength
SPEAKER_16Girl, answer your phone. I know you're sitting there crying, second guessing. Replaying old memories like pain ain't already took enough from you.
SPEAKER_15So since you won't pick up, listen close.
SPEAKER_16You left and sis, I'm proud of you. I remember the nights you defended his name. Smiled in public, watched carrying shame. Kept pouring up then with nobody. Pretty become who you needed. Not who he was then. You guys are you still surviving this business? You started calling, don't let's commit. Made excuses for finger and forgot the woman God created you. But look at your mouth, breathing different, sleeping deep. No longer begging for crumbs, it's somebody else's table. Girl, you didn't look good on you. So cracked, you need to, but don't you uh oh I let you in deeper than most.
Betrayal And Broken Trust
SPEAKER_16Shed my fear, shared my hopes. Years of laughter, years of pain. Thought forever had your name. I called you my best friend, my sister in this. Never thought loyalty would end like this. You know my heart, you know my scars. Do you cross the line? We swore to God. I replay old pictures, hear the jokes we shared. You was in my corner, or I thought you came. Late night talk, showing up unannounced. Now it's silence with cries, just the sound. You watch me cry, watch me pray. Promise me you'd never change. So when you cross me, it hit twice as hard. Betrayal could be because you knew my heart. Listen, it turned into a running round. How you say you love me, why you tear me down? You move a real shady, so you dressed it as K. Acting like you found me, but you wasn't there. The most positive for you. Strangers couldn't do what you do. All then yes, all that trust. Now sitting here questioning us. You hated me, friend, always drama. I ignore the signs I wanted to believe. My best friend wouldn't play me like an air. You know, I don't say I don't recognize the woman in here.
Faith, Regret, And Coming Back
SPEAKER_16I smile unfamiliar. I used to pray without thinking twice. Now I hesitate, like I'm not living right. I let somebody get too close. Get too close. Ignore the warnings I felt the most.
SPEAKER_23I felt the most.
SPEAKER_16Told myself would make it last. Make it last. Now I'm sitting here face to face with my past. Faith feels distant. I won't pretend.
SPEAKER_23I won't pretend.
SPEAKER_16Some nights I don't know how to begin. I know you're near to the broken hearted. I feel so far. So disconnected. So chase attention. I chase relief. I chase anything. Quiet the breed. Now I'm face down on crying out. Two conviction hit in the fellow part. Your heart people think of the smiles.
SPEAKER_15We speak
Black Queen Energy Anthem
SPEAKER_15life, we elevate, create the future, we generate. When one wins, we all feel proud. Support out loud, joy unbound. Black queen energy stands tall, unapologetic, through it all.
SPEAKER_16Power and peace, voices aren't even, every step says, We are queens. Black queens, we stand firm. Purpose and stride, good and true, nothing I high. History strong in every vein. Racing the wall, popper written our name. Pressure comes, but we don't bend. From a legacy that doesn't end.
SPEAKER_05Crown set high, spirits align. Confidence calm, brilliant mind. Black Queen energy stands all. Apologetic through with all. When peace voice is serene, Feet ups says we are quick. Black Queen Energy stands tall. Apologetic through with all. When peace voice is serene, fee steps up says we are quick.
SPEAKER_23We are quicksomed, brilliance, off like low.
SPEAKER_16Wisdom speaking, steady growth, ownership, vision, wealth and mind, breaking barriers, read a finding time. Degrees are lessons learned from every trial. Elevation turn, healing work, standards high. Respect within no need to try.
SPEAKER_05Black Queen energy stands all on the photography still without one feet twice away, three steps, the golden street, that steps straight, Black Queen energy stands up on the apologetics, do it We up with that Queen energy stands up We up we're so I played some of them I didn't play all of them But however if you like, share, comment, enjoy the music, whatever, you can hit it up on Miss Mo Music on any platforms.

Monique Robinsonbelieve YouTube, iTunes, iHeartRadio. Those songs are originally written and produced by myself. If I get enough likes, I might actually start singing some of the songs because it's not that hard, and I have a studio equipment here to do that. Davis scholarship program, please, please, please check your email. We did our first cut. I'm kind of saying because I don't like to see people go.
