Hi, happy new year. Happy new moon in Capricorn. I'm going to speak to the new moon in Capricorn, the astrology right now, and really bringing in this Mars retrograde because it's such a part of this time. And I also want to touch on Capricorn as well. I've been reading on Substack and Instagram this morning about how. People don't feel as though with the wheel of time, you know, here, it's just the beginning of summer. And for all of you in winter time, it's the beginning of winter post solstice. And it doesn't feel like a time of new beginnings. So I want to speak to Capricorn because on one hand, it's, it's not really. Capricorn, I always refer to it as being the architect. We're beginning to scaffold and look practically at what directions do I want to move myself in next year. We begin to look at this chunk of time this year ahead and contemplate how we're going to carve it up with the choices that we make, with the habits that we have, all these kind of things. It's not necessarily a time of actioning all of those things, though I know for myself personally, this is always just an absolute favorite time period for me. And I have been working in my personal life on entering this year, already having smashed some personal goals, one in particular. And I just met it this morning, which I'm very excited about. I do love this time of year, For me, one of the greatest joys in the world is buying a completely clean, new diary. And that's how a new year feels to me because it's a fresh chapter. It's as yet unwritten. There's mystery and there's unknown. To me, that's incredibly exciting and thrilling it allows my mind at least to walk in with a whole sense of Yeah, freshness, newness. What could be, what could I invent? I was reading moon lists this morning by Lee Patterson, who I really love. And I'm sure you've all heard of moon lists. I think she's just a very clever legend. And she put up this Ursula Le Guin quote, which I'm going to read for you now. So this one is from the January prompts for inventing a life, which is from moon lists on Substack. And this Ursula Le Guin quote, is all of us have to learn how to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills. We need guides to show us how. If we don't, our lives get made up for us by other people, It's so important that we grab our own life by the reins and bring about a lot of self responsibility in acknowledging what we're choosing consciously and unconsciously. And I think, again, that's another reason why this time of year is so brilliant because we're able to look back We have the data of a whole year that we've just finished and the years before it, and we're able to pull out the experiences that we've had, the dominant feelings that we experienced, the growth that we did or didn't maneuver through, the initiations that we experienced, and we're able to take stock. And from that place, we enter a whole new field of possibility with a sense of what we want to choose and invent. and craft in the year ahead. And as I was saying in my talk on the astrology of 2025, I feel that this year ahead is one of experimentation and whole new streams of consciousness, not just streams of consciousness, whole new ones available to the collective available on these mental planes. It's moved through the ethers, the consciousness, these super highways of ideas and of the collective consciousness. It's like this whole new streams of what is possible, whole new maps that we can create now, which again, to me feels just incredibly thrilling and the self responsibility piece, which is so much to do with Capricorn and Saturn. If you've had your first or second Saturn return, then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about because it is an initiation into a whole new level of self responsibility. it's this time of going, Okay, what do I want? Where do I need discipline? Where do I need more structure? Where do I need to be more accountable for this habit that isn't working to my favor? Whatever the thing is. We're in this time of the architect and going, okay, what does the landscape look like? What do I want the landscape to look like next year? What mountains do I want to create and then ascend and claim as my own? What are the directions that I want to move myself in this time period that we've carved up and announced as 2025 Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn is referred to as the Lord of Time. And also the Lord of Karma. And when I'm talking about karma, this is how I would define it, certainly in a Capricornian way. It is reaping what you sow. It is seeing the fruits or the weeds or the degradation or the bounty that is a byproduct of what you have been creating or not creating your habits, plentiful ones, not so abundant ones. You get to see the evidence of your life thus far. Again, I think this is why Saturn Returns can be so intense. Because there's a level of realism that can sometimes feel stark. I think it's just incredibly important to have those experiences. I've had them a number of times. And I was just thinking then as I was saying that, the most patently clear one that I ever had. was in my early 30s in Big Sur and I was there with a person that I just shouldn't have been there with. I shouldn't have been in the vicinity of, and at the same time happening in Big Sur at Henry Miller's place was this incredible wedding of one of my favorite musicians and all of these people Some I knew and most I knew of were all in Big Sur at the time, just by happenstance, was I there at the same time. And, and I could see very, very starkly, the direction that I thought my life was going to go where I could have been with these people at this incredible celebration. But instead I was with this terribly unwell person. Who was, yeah, I just shouldn't have been in the vicinity of. That crushed me so deeply and at the same time it really just slapped me in the face, you know, in a brilliant way because it was like, wake up dickhead. You're not where you thought you would be and in fact you're far, far, far, far, far from it and you need to take action to change the course and the direction of your life and Still took me several months to do that, but I did. Uh, and that's a very Saturnian feeling. And maybe you've had it before where you just really see the gulf between where you are and where you wanted to be or where you thought you would be. And it can feel very serious and intense and unattractive. But for me, at least it's those times have been motivating, deeply disappointing, and then motivating once I get over myself and stop wallowing. Astrologically, we go through Sagittarius, you know, this beautiful expansive time and, and Mercury is still here in Sag, which I love. I love that for this new moon because on one hand, our mind is able to cast out these visions. We're able to expand the field of what's possible for us through what we take in, in our eyes and throughout all of our senses, what is the field of my life and my world and where and how could I expand it? So on one hand, we have this ability to dream big. And then with the sun and the moon in beautiful Capricorn, where we understand that Let's say the curriculum of Earth, of human life, is maneuvering through time and space. There's no hacks, you still have to reorient your life and move towards those things, right? I don't really believe in hacks. But you might, and that's cool. so we marry this expanded vision and this sense of possibility and the excitement of what's possible, we marry that with this earthy practically intelligent energy that goes, okay here's The vision. Here's the direction. Now let's work backwards. How do we get to the top of that mountain? What steps do I have to take? Where do I need to be disciplined and refined in the moves that I make? Where do I need to hold myself accountable so that I can maneuver through these things? There's no realm. In which we can achieve all our goals through being lazy and dissociated and tapped out and just hanging on the internet looking at other people who've achieved their goals, you know? So it's these kind of energies we get to have these visions which are almost like architectural in nature. What are the plans? Now again, This isn't necessarily a time to be actioning them, but you can also do whatever the hell you want at any time of the year. Uh, get very bored of any kind of prescriptive sense of this is the time to do this, this is the time to do that. I'm just speaking to you about the current symphony, let's say, that's playing in the ethers. And Personally I think we have this expanded vision. Then we bring in the architect's vision through Capricorn. We make the plans. We take a good look at ourselves, a good hard look at ourselves. And we assess through a very realistic lens, which I think is always great. You know, it's marrying the dreams with How do we get there in reality? And then we go through Aquarius and then we go through Pisces. So for me personally, I never, energetically at least, I never have any real propulsion to make moves until that autumn equinox or the spring equinox for some of you, which is the first day of Aries. Which is usually around the 21st of March. That, to me, is the starting point. At least in my own life. That's usually when I begin level 1 of astrology school. In that time too, because it just feels like there's the propulsion, there's the forward momentum. Again, there's, there's no real rules here. I do want to speak about the astrology of this new moon. So, it happens on Australian time, the 31st of December, just after 9am. So tomorrow at 9am Tuesday, which will be Monday night for the Euros and the Americans and everyone else listening. and so while the sun and the moon are together, the north node in Aries is squaring the new moon and then Mars, which is retrograding, is 150 degrees away from the new moon, which is called a quincunx. Both of those aspects are, I'd almost say, at loggerheads with the new moon, which to me makes sense because Aries is about forward momentum, initiating action. Your wants, your needs, your desires. Mars is the ruler of Aries. It's our will. It's our determination. It's this forward momentum. It's our desires, again. And it makes sense for me, in terms of what I was just saying. Like, yes, we build out the scaffolding, but it's very natural that you might not have the energy right now to make the moves towards that thing. I mean, we've just finished the year. The idea that we have to get going on January 1st is kind of ridiculous. It's not necessarily how I play, you know? I don't understand why that's the rules. That we have, what, a week off and then it's like, okay, cool, back to the action, back to the action energy. No, we still have to take these architectural blueprints through the realm of Aquarius. It's into this realm of ideas and very, very expanded vision. we get to be the Eagle that flies over the architect's visions so we can see it from a whole new perspective and bring in whole new energies. And then we completely dissolve in Pisces and we go into the imaginal and we vision more and more and more about what could be. And then by the time Aries comes around, it's this. This birth canal, you know, from Pisces into Aries, it's an absolute birth canal. We go from the embryonic fluid of the cosmos to me, myself, and I. And that's when it feels like there's this, more of this forward momentum. Also, with this Mars retrograde, it's currently at two degrees of Leo, and on the 7th of January, it will flick back into Cancer, where it will spend two months. And then, on February 24th, it will start to go direct and move forward through cancer, and then move forward through Leo, which I think is April 19 to June 18. And it means that for this first six months of the year, Mars is maneuvering only through two signs. It's actually been maneuvering only through these two signs since the 5th of September, when it first moved into Cancer. So that's incredible. That's very bizarre and unique. And for it to be happening during this time period, I think it makes a lot of sense, because to me, the way that I'm imbibing that is this forward momentum, our will, Our willpower, our self determination, this initiating energy, you know, Aries gets things going, Mars gets things going, it begins things. It's moving through this realm of our vitality right now. What am I doing that makes me feel alive? What am I doing that drains my vitality? Where am I putting my energy and how is it affecting me? And then as it begins to move through, back through cancer. We get to look at how do I feel about these architectural blueprints, you know? What's my intuition saying to me? How does this meet my emotional self? What action am I taking to nourish myself very, very deeply so that I can go out in the world and have these roles and responsibilities the nourishment that I'm bringing to myself so I can renew myself and go out into the world and do these things. It also feels like, with this timing, with the Mars Retrograde, it's allowing us to dig deeper and deeper and deeper into what are your heart's desires? The deepest desires that you have. And then when we take that into the realm of Capricorn, we can think of it like this. What are the mountains? What's that I wish to climb in this lifetime? Invent and climb. What's the legacy of me as an individual? And that could be purely personally with yourself, the legacy that I want to actualize within myself or in a grander sense. What are my biggest ambitions? So to me it feels like we get this time period, well we're in it now, you know, it's the beginning of summer, and it's the beginning of winter, we still have several months of hanging out in this energy and percolating in this energy. And yes, while we can make the moves now, I'm not saying otherwise, it's also this time to dig and dig and dig and to keep looking at these visions. How do they make me feel? Does this bring me a sense of fucking life and vitality and fun? You know? So we're really getting to check in so that At least, this is my theory. As we get all of these new transits happening in this year ahead, the moves that we make are precise. There's precision to them. Yes, it's a time of experimentation, a year of experimentation. We're landing new things, so many new things, and we, we should be taking action towards them and playing with them. And at the same time, it's like, if I'm going to make a move, I've spent all this time revisiting my list and looking at how I feel about these things and truly digging into it rather than, you know, on New Year's Eve, going, okay, what are my resolutions? No, that's, that's cheesy, man. Well, we want to look at this over a time period, like play with this, craft this. I've been writing these lists for the last four weeks already because again, it's just the type of thing that really excites me. to speak of moon lists again, Lee Patterson put up this really cool list yesterday, sometimes I see these ins and outs lists, and she had this beautiful one called Away From and Towards, and I love that, so I did one of those as well. You know, it's like, it just feels so, I don't know, semantically that just feels bang on. Um, don't know if that makes any sense, but. It just feels right in my body. It's like, what am I moving away from? And what am I moving towards? Something else that I just wanted to touch on is our unconscious self. While we're in this beautiful Capricorn season, we get to be an archaeologist and to look at the year that was or the years that have been. If there's anything that you're calling in, maybe it's hot babes. Maybe it's a new career or whatever it is. We really get to look at, okay, well, what are my experiences with them thus far? How did I show up there or didn't show up there? The crux of what I'm wanting to say is what have you been choosing? What has been actualizing in your reality? And yeah, some of that may be deeply initiatory, but what was it asking you to look at and have you looked there? You know, we really get to use this very, very grounded, clear, intelligent time to look at the more grander directions of our life. Like I said, Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is the lord of time. So when I think of the time that I have left here, and hopefully there's a lot of it, how do I want to carve that up? What am I choosing in my daily life with my habits? That I have, the things that I do, the way that I think, the behaviors that I have, How am I moving myself? Towards those things or away from them, and then what can I do about it? How can I lovingly pick these things up and look at them and call in help if you need it, and begin to move forward with more of these things. Capricorn, Saturn, Hades, It's foundational energy. What is the foundation that you're walking upon within your psyche, within your daily life? what are your dominant thoughts and thought patterns? It's a great time to be an archeologist so that the architect's vision feels, I guess, more realistic, more achievable, not in the sense of, you know, Make yourself small. I will never ever suggest that to any of you. I think all of us could do with being a little bit more bombastic, personally. Myself included. In terms of the reality that we're creating 97 percent of it is unconscious. So where can we bring in more consciousness? Where can we see our own patterning? And not in a way that's like shameful or disappointing, but in a way that's like, Alright, cool, well I'm going to hang out here and I can build a new foundation in this area. When I was first learning astrology, a long time ago, one of the ways that my teacher described a Saturn return was, If there are any potholes in your foundation, you will face plant in them during that time period. And that's what I mean by the stark realism. It's like, Suddenly you can't look away from the things that you've been able to look away from for years. And these energies are always working in your favor. You know, Saturn to me is like, it is a paternal energy. And to me it's like, well actually I always think of my strict teachers when I think of Capricorn. And I learned the most from them because I had to show up. I had to do the work. And I'm very thankful for them. And yeah, we can call in gentle lessons, but If there's anything that you need to see, don't look away from it. Make friends with it. Okay, I think that's all I have to say. Hope you have a great one. I would utilize this new moon personally. I will be utilizing this new moon. I'll certainly be refining my lists. and even with that I should just say, I have brought in a lot more realism with my lists. Sometimes my financial goals are like, I'm gonna make blah blah blah blah blah amount. And, it's grand. And I love that about me. And also some at some point of the year, I'm like, Oh, okay. I will. I'm not quite there. So whatever. And then I forget about the goal. So this year I've made one, which is still delish, very delish have a great impact on my life and I'm lucky I do wonderfully already, but this goal is delish and it feels. very achievable. And that's in itself, I've just noticed for me feels incredibly exciting and motivating more so than when I have these financial goals that are triple what I'm making now, you know, I'll get there, but first I'm going to get to this goal. And that feels really, very juicy to my whole body. I wish you a really great new moon. and new year, however you choose to spend it. And yeah, I'll be back next week, likely talking about the nodes because there'll be shifting on the 11th of Jan. And they're going to be brilliant. I'm very excited for these ones. So I want to deep dive into that. Okay. Goodbye. Thank you for listening.
