Mercury Retrograde in Cancer begins on June 30th and spends this week conjunct Jupiter as its has its last week in Cancer before making its move into Leo. This episode discusses all of that and how a Mercury Retro in Cancer may play out. Here is my Astrology of 2026 workshop incase you missed it and here is the link to the intuition quiz. You can join the waitlist to Moon Oracle over here and you'll find my interview in the Good Weekend here. See you next week.

Hi, how are you? Hope you've had a great week. Today I want to talk about this upcoming Mercury retrograde in Cancer. It's interesting, like we're, we've just started Cancer season today on the Monday. It flicks over between the 21st and the 22nd of June. Both my mom and her sister, my auntie, are born on the two solstices. It's my mom's birthday today, and then it's my auntie's, on the summer solstice, or depending on where you are, winter solstice. So we're just about to start... We've just started Cancer season, and it will be Eight days into it, or like, one week into Cancer season, that Mercury begins retrograding. It's going to go from 26 degrees of Cancer back to 16 degrees of Cancer. The reason I'm telling you those degrees is if you are familiar with your chart, go and have a look and see if you've got anything there. Angles, planets, anything in opposition or squaring that, because that will really, be in a relationship to this Mercury retrograde. Go and have a look and see what house Mercury is for you as well. I'm gonna talk about what some of the themes may be with this. But the house that, or the houses that Cancer falls in for you will really show you the specific territory or area where this retrograde will take place. For me, it's exclusively, like, in my 10th house. And I just wanna say, like, and hopefully it's obvious if you've been listening for a while, but I, I don't see Mercury retrogrades as this big, bad, scary thing. and I'm, I- my Mercury is in Cancer, and it's retrograde, so I was born during a Mercury retrograde. And for any of you who are also born during a Mercury retrograde, you may or may not find this true, but for me personally, I mark these periods out on my calendar because I find them to be really easeful and often quite creative. The best way I can explain it to you is it's like it, it's just the, the way everything's flowing feels incredibly natural to me. So I'm excited to see this because it will be in the s- the sign that my Mercury's in as well, and it's in a work zone, so I know it's going to have so much to do with, my level two of astrology, which I'm, finalizing, which begins at the end of July, and also my Moon Oracle course, like the intuition course, that will also be starting at the end of July. So it's just like I'm, I'm fine-tuning and prepping and recording specific types of meditations and lots of different things. And God, let, let's be real, hopefully I'll just spend some of that time playing the piano or writing a story and not just applying it to work. As well. Notice how this plays out for you. One of the interesting, tones of 2026 and the astrology of this year is that the three Mercury retrogrades that we have this year are all in the water signs. So we had the first one in Pisces. Now we've got this one approaching in Cancer, and then we will also have a big one, in Scorpio season, in the sign of Scorpio. I'm saying it's a big one because we also have a Venus retrograde at the same time in Scorpio. So that will be, like, really, really fascinating. So what could be at play here with this Mercury retrograde? A few things. I would really notice this shift. Again, I'm recording this Sunday afternoon, so it's actually still Gemini. It's, like, the final minutes of Gemini as I'm recording this. Uh, but something that I always notice, that shift from air sign into water sign, I really, really noticed it a couple of years ago. Um, I, I had gone through an, the, an experience and I'd, I'd really been able to make sense of it logically and in my mind, and I'd analyzed it. And then it was the first day of Cancer, and it just felt like, you know, the sun is, like, the life force, the energy is illuminating Cancer. And I suddenly was just in my feelings about that experience that I had just logicized. I don't think that's a word, but it should be. And I, and of course, you know, had a great cry. You know, all of the feelings that I had been able to think my way through in Gemini season really hadn't gone anywhere in terms of the emotion, like the emotional energy of them. And it was when I was in Cancer that I, I then had to feel and, and process things more emotionally. So it's always just really interesting to notice this shift from air to water, and it is the natural, structure. Like we'll go from Libra season, air, into Scorpio, water. We'll go from Aquarius, air, into Pisces, water. So it's, it's a pattern that we have. And again, like just notice this next week coming is, is quite an interesting one. There is so much that's happening on the full moon in Capricorn, which is next Tuesday. For me in Australia, it's the 30th of June. First, the Mercury retrograde happens in the morning on the 30th, then, what's that? Five hours later we have the full moon where the sun is in Cancer, the moon is in Capricorn. And then in the afternoon, late afternoon here, same day on the 30th, Jupiter will move into Leo. I'll, I'll speak a lot more about that. I wanna speak a, a, a lot about Jupiter in Leo 'cause I'm extremely pumped for that one. There's so much great Leo stuff happening, uh, for the second half of this year, and it really kicks off next week. Uh, so I'll, I'll leave that for then. But it's interesting, like the, again, like next Tuesday, there's just three gigantic things that are taking place. So what's quite fascinating about this week is all of this week Mercury is in Cancer, and it's conjunct Jupiter in Cancer for the final week of Jupiter in Cancer. So that's, it's been a whole year of having Jupiter here, where, again, Jupiter is, it's experiential, but it's so much to do with how we form a sense of meaning, that really kind of forms this sort of structural bedrock of this is where I am, this is what I believe this place to be. Uh, these are, these are the specific things in, in my life that feel very meaningful. I think for all of us, and again, if you've got a lot of planets here, then it will be emphasized. But when I was writing about this for Rush last year, I sort of thought of this as we're kind of Marie Kondo-ing our domestic environments, our emotional landscape, our sense of family, which can have so many expressions. And looking at what is meaningful here for us. What makes our domestic, experience a meaningful one? What makes our relationship to family or our experience of family a meaningful one? And in this sort of Marie Kondo way, you know, it's picking up everything that we're applying our, our time, and our energy, and consciousness towards, and going like, "Is Does this still feel like it holds juice?" And again, it- it's Cancer. Cancer is a lot to do with domestic environment. Absolutely, it's your early childhood and the domestic environment that you, grew up in, because Cancer rules the fourth house, which is the territory of that. So it's your inner world. It's like your private inner landscape, but it's also your sanctuary. Like, your inner sanctuary, but then your physical sanctuary. It's so much to do. Like, Cancer is primal emotion. It's like the primal wave or the primal experience of an emotion or an emotional experience. And, and here, it, that's why Cancer can really become or can express itself reactively. It's the crab. It's walking into every room, and often unconsciously, is testing to see, "Am I safe here? Is it safe for me to be here?" Like, the crab's shell is its home, and it's also this, Artful, and sometimes not artful shield or barrier that it has created to protect itself. Cancer is really on an evolutionary journey towards vulnerability, but, you know, safe vulnerability, not telling just anyone your stuff. But really I think g- shifting ironically from almost like an inner stoicism to a, to being deeply nourished and hydrated by oneself. You know, Cancer really learns how to read and tend to the room first. And then it's a, so much to do with applying that nurturing, n- nutritious, beautiful energy towards the self, which doesn't, which often doesn't feel natural for Cancer to do. And, and there's something there with Cancer as well where they can really I'm saying they, but it's also anyone who holds this archetype. Like my Mercury and my Venus are conjunct my mid-heaven here. So it's like I, I have this. Like we all have this in our charts. Um, but it's an, it's an energy which can make itself invulnerable through tending to the room, you know? Rather than having the lens put on themselves, or the questions put on themselves from the room. So yeah, all of the Mercury retrogrades are happening in the water signs. Often they're happening in one element. Sometimes there's a mixture of two. And this year it's all water. So what I find really interesting about that is, you know, we've had Pluto move into Aquarius, a water sign. We've had Uranus move into Gemini. Sorry, an air sign. And Aquarius is an air sign. I think I just said water. So there's a lot happening, in this sort of like hyper mind. Like these, to me I always just think of it as this total super highway of ideas. Like there's a lot of, there's a lot of electricity this year. And I must say, the second half of this year is very different to the first half in terms of the, let's say, astrological temperature, or architecture. It's a lot different. Um- Where was I going with that? Yeah, so, so there's this fastness. There's this, uh, it- there's something very cerebral about this year, and I, and, and it's so fascinating that the, the mind, Mercury, the oracle, the messenger, the winged feet, this, this energy which is open and is able to move from the underworlds to the mortal realms to the immortal realms and pass on messages, is really planting us into our own emotions and our own energy. Almost like this kind of thing of like, "I need you to be feeling what's going on here." As the pace increases or, or, or seemingly increases externally or even within our minds, it's like Mercury's saying, "No, you need to be processing your emotional world." There's something to do with lineage in this as well. Cancer has so much to do with family and lineage. It, it's memory. Cancer, it, you know, if there was If I could s- assign another animal to Cancer, I'd also say it was an elephant, purely because of, the family connectivity and also their memory. Cancer stores, the memory of the lineages. And so we're, we're really deep in the experience of that, or we will be deep in the experience of that come, Tuesday next week, the 30th of June. You may just revisit emotions or really be applying your attention, which is mercurial, to emotions that you haven't visited for some time. Some of them may feel really old. It might feel like a revisiting. Some of it may be things that you just haven't really sat with and felt yet this year It's actually here until the 24th of July, which will be the second day of Leo. Even that's really interesting. So it's like, you know, Cancer is four weeks, and this Mercury retrograde in Cancer is three of those four weeks. Like, we're really in the Cancerian experience. When we're thinking of Mercury in retrograde, to me it's like it's just, it's more internal. As somebody who has Mercury in retrograde, part of this is like, you know, it's Mercury, right? So it's how... what we're taking in, what we're perceiving, the information that we're taking in. So for me, partly that is very emotional. Like, I'm reading the emotional and energetic data of a space. I'm really attuned to doing that. But it's like it's a retrograde, so it's so much about the self. Like, there's a ref- reflectivity about this experience. And it's, it's... You know what's so gorge? Is that it begins on the full moon in Capricorn, which is part of the lessons every year with the full moon in Capricorn, is really being able to check in and feel like, "All right, here's the goals that I made. Here's the mountain that I was like, 'Ugh, I'm gonna forge this mountain, and I'm going to ascend it this year.' Here's the direction. Here's what, what success feels like to me," which is a very, very important experience for Capricorn, which we all have in our charts. And we're really able to reflect into, "How do I actually feel about this? How do I actually feel about my goals? Do I still feel tuned into them? What is my own intuitive data saying about this?" So it's just quite delish that it starts on the day of this full moon. It, uh, just already feels like it's going to be a gorgeous one. So yeah, that's what I wanted to say. Gemini tangent. All of this week, Mercury, which isn't yet retrograde, is conjunct Jupiter in... while Jupiter is in its final week of Cancer. So we're really, really able to, or just naturally reflecting on our sense of meaning, on what makes our life specifically a meaningful one to engage with. There's something very experiential about this energy. Jupiter can oscillate between incredible optimism. I mean, Mercury conjunct Jupiter is incredible optimism. But as an experiential planet, and the ruler of an experiential sign, Sagittarius, it can move from, vast optimism, and possibility, and, and largesse, and then it can really also be existential, and really get into, like, n- nihilism, you know? It's almost this territory of going from incredible synchronicity into this sense of like, if there is a God, this is a dark cosmic joke. You know? There's not a lot of in-betweens with this energy. But all week our mind is here. So one way to utilize this is to naturally be querying these things within yourself, 'cause o- on some level, like, they'll be playing out in, in, in your waters, you know? What makes your life a deeply meaningful one? And again, it's very interesting that it's like that is the contemplation of the week before next week's huge full moon in Capricorn. I think that's it. That's all I really wanna say this week. I'll be back next week. I'll tell you all about that full moon And Jupiter moving into Leo, which is very, very exciting. Big Leo season this year. Big Leo energy. Leo Aquarian energy, the axis of individuation. You're gonna hear me talk about it a lot. If you haven't seen, I have an intuition quiz. I'll link it below. I do have a workshop on the astrology of this year, which has, I think, a very good handout that lists all the dates. I'll link that below, too. And for all of the eclipses that we have coming up Which, which begin In Leo season, well, for all of Leo, almost all of Leo, I will be running Moon Oracle, which is my intuition course. I'll put the wait list down for that below. It's gonna be awesome. And, and so we've got It starts off with the full moon in Aquarius. You'll be learning one particular thing for that, or, or experiencing and then developing one particular intuitive skill on that call. For the sol- for the, for the new moon in Leo I'm so sorry. It's my Sunday afternoon brains, like, what are you, what are you saying? Did I even mention the, what it's like to, with that M- for me to have that Mercury retrograde? I think I just glossed over that entirely. What I wanted to say there is, like, sometimes I will feel the thing, or I'll feel the experience and, and not actually voice it to the person that I'm experiencing it with. That's a real sort of Mercury retrograde thing to have that in your chart. This whole, this whole little example right here, right now is very, uh, Mercury retrograde also. Reflecting while also in the doing. Um, there's, there's something quite nostalgic about Mercury retrograding through water signs. So it just feels like there's a lot of nostalgia about to take place. Sometimes that's good. Sometimes that's just really emotionally indulgent, I would say, too. Yeah. I, you know, it's worth saying that there's something like that could be possibly emotionally effing indulgent about, a Mercury retrograding Cancer as a, as someone who has that. Just saying. Yes. Then we'll have the solar eclipse new moon in Leo, and I have something lined up beautiful, excellent for that. And then we'll end on the partial solar eclipse in Pisces. Sorry, not e- lunar eclipse. It's a full moon, which is at, at the very beginning of Virgo season, and there's a whole intuitive experience for that, too. There's, there's a whole bunch of stuff in between, but it's going to be really juicy, and it's experiential, you know? It's like you're, you're, you're, you're try- you're trying on, you're experiencing lots of different intuitive applications. I'm really excited for it. It's gonna be fun. So I'll link that below. Also, I was interviewed for an article about astrology in The Good Weekend. I'll link that below if you wanna have a, a read, too. Hope you have a great week. Bye.
