Episode 37: Blue Death in Victorian London
Ready your ears and put away your noses because we're going to be knee deep in Victorian poop today as we yap all about the London Cholera Epidemic of 1854!
In Part 1 of this two part series, Poppy leads us back in time to Victorian England when the infamous Blue Death burned through Soho's Golden Square, leading to an investigation that set the stage for modern epidemiology, public sanitation infrastructure, and the acceptance of Germ Theory. During today's episode, Poppy covers what London was like in the 1850s, the history and mechanism behind cholera, and the events leading up to this infamous epidemic.
We have a longer Hypothetical today (we're diving back into the world of eBay Haunted Dolls), so if you'd like to dive straight into the content, skip to 21:20.
