I started casting spells in my bedroom and I distinctly remember at the time I had a little tiny pot of silver ink and a dip pen and I took a piece of paper and that dip pen and I distinctly remember writing out what basically was a covenant with Satan. I said I'm going to serve Satan and I have to really emphasize that none of us knew what we were doing. This was just playing with fire and we didn't know it. But I actually, you know, wrote this thing out and it was like, let's rip open the door and let the enemy in. And when he comes in, he doesn't leave. Obviously, that's why we need a savior, because we're helpless. And it was deception all through. It was just lies. The enemy has deceived the entire world, according to Revelation, what is it, 12, 7 to 11? And so I was deceived. What got me out of it was I was trying to cast a spell in my bedroom by burning a photograph, and I was using a green glass ashtray. My parents were both believers. And basically the glass got so hot that it shattered, and I was scared to death.
SPEAKER_01Megan is a lifelong daydreamer with an overactive imagination. She has been a writer, artist, and singer for as long as she can remember. She's happily married to Richard Macomb since 1983, and she spent 16 years homeschooling their three now grown children. Her dark but clean romanticy fairy tale series, The Rose in the Fire, paints a vivid picture of spiritual warfare in the life of one young girl. And that is exactly what we're here to talk about today with Megan. Um, a story about spiritual warfare, you know, and how she found deliverance. Thank you so much, Megan, for joining me today on the on the podcast. I'm so excited we're finally doing this. Thank you. I'm excited too. Thank you. Okay, so um Megan, I'm just interested in learning more about your background. You know, for people listening who don't know who Megan is, are you able to tell us, you know, more about you, your background, your upbringing?
SPEAKER_00Okay. I grew up in a rather dysfunctional family. My parents' marriage was not very happy. I mean, my brother and I knew that from a very early age. They had financial issues. Dad worked seven days a week, and I actually never really got to know him very well. And my mother worked evenings and she would come home, she would go to work when we came home from school. So, from the time my brother was 10 and I was eight, we were watching ourselves. We were Lashkey kids. And um, finally my mother left when I was 17 to move in with my stepfather, and their divorce was finalized on their 26th wedding anniversary. That was the day they were in court together. You can imagine what kind of an impression that left on me when I was growing up and thinking about getting married, you know, thinking, well, I don't know what's gonna happen down the road, and uh, you know, so I had a lot of fears around that. But as I was a child, my earliest ambition was to be an artist. I was drawing and painting or whatever all the time. My mom, you know, she tried to support me, she bought me noosle and all that kind of thing, and art lessons at a local museum. And um, I also read a lot of books. My favorite books were The Reader's Digest Book of Fairy Tales and Delaire's Book of Greek myths. I love those kind of stories that gets your imagination going. I really started writing in sixth grade, my first book, and I wrote the class play that we put on. And in seventh grade, I wrote a full-length soap opera called True Love and Purple Passion, and I used to pass those segments around to my classmates. So that was where I really started writing. We went to church, but I really didn't learn much about the Lord in those days. Should I just keep going with that? Well, the way we got together is a story in itself. I was, well, I was 26 when we got married. He was 24. And I was uh in a place in my life where I was just really depressed and I was really lonely. And I remember I said to the Lord, Why am I so lonely? And he came back and said, You do not have because you do not ask. And so I began praying for a husband. And then Richard moved into the town where I was living, and you know, we met, and a month later he asked me out, and a week later we were engaged. And it was uh it was an answer to prayer, but at the same time, it was like, you know, I was really sure that he was the one, or else I wouldn't have married him. He came from another kind of dysfunctional background, so we brought a lot of baggage into our marriage, and you know, there were some rough times in the beginning, but in our wedding vows, we said right out the divorce was not going to be an option, and so we stuck through it and we raised three kids, and uh, he just retired. We're just like, you know, you're stuck with me, you're never gonna get rid of me, and we're just happy together. He's waving at me right now from the drawway. Yeah, so uh yeah, we we overcame it basically by the Lord's grace. It's really a testimony, I think, to God healing a lot of things. But even so, I sometimes still struggle with thoughts of not being loved. I want to get into that later when I start talking about my book.
SPEAKER_01That's definitely a testimony, a big testimony. And I want us to, you know, talk about your story. And when I, you know, read up about you, I found it very interesting. So I know you became a Christian at the age of 14. Before you became a Christian, you were sort of involved in the occult, right? So I want I want you to tell us, you know, how you got into that, how you found deliverance eventually. But before you, you know, share your story. I wanted to give you know just a quick disclaimer before you know, we have several people who you know who are um watching this and or listening in, and they are in different um stages in their faith journey. So I just want to say that you know, this Melvin story is not about glorifying the devil, you know, or trying to you know stir up here in the heart of our listeners, you know, because we are Christians and we have complete victory, you know, over the works of the enemy, over the works of darkness, and as children of God, you know, nothing can you know harm us. However, we are not ignorant, you know, the devices of the enemy, and we know that the enemy will always try, you know, by whatever means possible, but we know that because we are children of God, you know, we already have victory in him. So, you know, I just wanted to give a quick disclaimer because I feel like it's important for us to hear stories like yours, just um, for that believer who has believed the lie of the enemy, you know, and feels like there's no way out, you know, and maybe has gotten involved in you know the the occult or things like this and just feel stuck. I want them to hear your story and just know that there's always a way out because as Christians we have victory in Christ, period. You know, so I just wanted to to give that quick disclaimer before we get into your story.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's really good. And yes, I don't want to glorify the enemy in any way because I just want to glorify the Lord. Well, basically what happened was in sixth grade I acquired a best friend, and you know how girls are with best friends, they all want to do things together. Her name was Bonnie. Yeah, she came also from a dysfunctional family, and her older sister had a book on witchcraft, and Bonnie got a hold of it and decided she wanted to be a witch. I think she thought it was kind of romantic, you know, or mysterious or something, but she decided she wanted to do this, and I, you know, being her best friend, I'm like, okay, sure, I'll go along with this. So we started doing seances. We did Ouija board, we did spirit writing, and we formed a little coven with some friends. And this was along about maybe eighth, maybe the beginning of ninth grade. It was somewhere right in that time period. I can't really remember which, you know, I just I really got hooked on it, and I said, you know, I can feel something and I want to know more about this. You know, we did this for a while, and after a while, Bonnie lost interest and said, I'm done with this, but I was not done with it. I still wanted to do more. So I started casting spells in my bedroom, and I distinctly remember at the time I had a little tiny pot of silver ink and a dip pen. And I took a piece of paper and that dip pen, and I distinctly remember writing out what basically was a covenant with Satan. I said, I'm gonna serve Satan, and I have to really emphasize that none of us knew what we were doing. This was just playing with fire and we didn't know it. But I actually, you know, wrote this thing out, and it was like, let's whip open the door and let the enemy in. And when he comes in, he doesn't leave. Obviously, that's why we need a savior because we're helpless, and it was deception all through. It was just lies. The enemy has deceived the entire world according to Revelation what is it, 12, 7 to 11. And so I was deceived. What got me out of it was I was trying to cast a spell in my bedroom by burning a photograph, and I was using a green glass ashtray. My parents are both smokers, and basically the glass got so hot that it shattered, and I was scared to death. And I don't know how I kept the house numbering down, but that that scared me out of it. I said, Okay, I'm done with this. And I backed off, and it was a few months later, the way I became a Christian, I was home alone one night and the phone rang, and it was a prank phone call, and somebody was just joking around and said, you know, is this a number for dial a prayer? And I was like, This is by the way, this was 1972. And I said, No, I'm sorry you had the wrong number, and we joked around for a little while. I could hear the party in the background, and then I hung up the phone, and then I walked away from the phone, and that was the first time God spoke to me. I know it was him. He said, You know, you've never read the Bible, and I'm like, You're right, I've never read the Bible. So I went and got my parents' Bible, and the only thing I knew to read in it was Genesis 1, chapter 1 through 22, because my mom had taken us to a movie, which was the Bible in the beginning, and I started reading it Genesis 1. And by the time I got to Genesis 22, I was like, I'm gonna be a Jesus freak. Because I was sitting at a lunch table in the cafeteria at school with a bunch of friends who had become Jesus freaks, if you will. And so I decided I was gonna be a Jesus freak. And you know, God can use anything, He really can use anything, He has a sense of humor too. And so I told my friend, you know, what I had decided, and she got all excited, and she said, You've got to go do a Youth for Christ rally, which is what they were all doing, and you've got to go forward and you've got to ask Jesus in your heart. And I'm like, okay, I'll do that. So the next Youth for Christ rally was a roller skating rally, so I actually accepted Christ on roller skates, and I remember this girl took me into a back room and we talked about becoming a Christian, and I we barred our heads to pray. And I remember thinking at that time, this is really serious, but I really want to do this. And so that was my beginning of walking with the Lord. The problem, of course, was that I had already done this thing with the enemy. It doesn't some some Christians think that when you become a Christian, you know, the enemy can't touch you. I am here to tell you that that is just not true because once you open the door to the enemy, God has to deliver you from it because you can't get rid of them on your own. I still experienced a lot of baggage from that time. I was a lot of fears, a lot of crippling fears, a lot of depression, and I had demonic dreams at night, which I had those dreams for over 20 years after I became a Christian, until God finally delivered me of it. It was interesting to me because years later, when I was a parent, I was listening to Focus on the Family radio show, and they had a three-day segment on spiritual warfare, and during those three days, they described the dreams that I was having, and said that that was called a spirit of night terrors. And I thought, oh, that spirit has a name. I will describe the dream. I describe it in my book, actually, because he's a character in my book. I would start to feel this tingling at the back of my neck, and then all of a sudden it would spread through my body and I would be completely paralyzed, I wouldn't be able to move or speak. And it would feel like there was a rushing wind, and it would feel like I was being lifted into the air. And I couldn't speak, but I remember I would rebuke this enemy in my spirit, you know, in the name of Jesus, you know, and just rebuke it. And then after a few minutes, this dream would end, and that's it. That was the whole thing, and it was scary, but I you know, these these dreams happened like a long time in my life. So yeah, there was this baggage. I want to kind of make this story kind of in a timeline, but it's a little disjointed. But I did get delivered from him. Okay. So I'll and I'll get to that part.
SPEAKER_01Wow, you you've shared a lot, and I have I have so many follow-up questions. And first of all, you know, thank you for sharing your story. And I know you had mentioned, was it Bonnie, your friend?
SPEAKER_00My friend Bonnie.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Um, she said she wasn't interested in this anymore. Was it was she just being a a child, or do you know why? Did she find Christ?
SPEAKER_00I don't think she ever found Christ uh that I know of because we kind of separated ways after a while, and the last time I saw her was at her wedding, and that was in the 1980s. So I you know I wish I knew that what you know what did happen to her. But she just sort of lost interest. It was like, okay, we went through this for a while and now she's moving on to something else. It was just a child thing, you know.
SPEAKER_01I know you also mentioned that you filmed a little coven with um some other friends, and you said you didn't necessarily know what you were doing, like the some of the times when you met, like did you have like some spiritual encounters, or was it just were you guys just was it just trial and and error? Like was there any form of intentionality to what was being done?
SPEAKER_00She was following the instructions in in that book. I don't know what the book was that her sister had, and she decided she was going to be the high priestess. The only thing I remember, I don't remember how many times we met, but the one thing I can remember was sort of funny because the way it was set up, she was supposed to lie in the middle of a circle, we were supposed to walk around her, and then she was supposed to sit up and we would stop walking. Well, she got mixed up, she thought we were gonna stop first, and so we're walking around her and rounder and around her, and finally I started kicking her, you know. It was kind of comical, but like I say, we didn't know what we were doing. But there is there are prescribed rituals, you know, in in Satanism, and uh this was one of them. And I don't remember really what else we did, but that one thing.
SPEAKER_01I I think another thing I I find interesting is the fact that whether or not you knew what you were doing, you know, as kids, uh there were prescribed um instructions in the book, and it it didn't matter that you were ignorant, right? It was still like the the enemy took advantage of that. Does that make sense? Like it somehow like a portal was open because he had read the book and you know practiced the instructions, so ignorance is really not it doesn't matter, right? It's whether you know or not.
SPEAKER_00That's in fact Satan loves our ignorance, he just loves it. Yeah. Because if you knew what you were doing, he wouldn't do these things, and and really in all honesty, when I bent my head to pray and ask Jesus into my life, I didn't know what I was doing then either, except that you know it was God and I wanted God, and it didn't bother God that I didn't know what I was doing either, because he was gonna teach me and he was gonna save me. Obviously, we all we don't know everything.
SPEAKER_01Did you find God or bow your head to pray because you were just tired of the whole thing? Was was there was that part of the reason? Reasons why you I guess turned into Christianity, or again it was just you just stumbled into it?
SPEAKER_00It was the age of the Jesus movement, it was the age of the beginning of Christian music, it was the era of God spell and Jesus Christ Superstar, and it was that period of time in history. Like I say, my friends had all kind of gotten into the Jesus Freak movement, and I think again it was kind of like a peer pressure following the crowd kind of thing, more than anything else. But then it was when I bent my head and prayed that I realized that this was something very serious and real. Kids just kind of follow the crowd, and I guess that's what I was doing.
SPEAKER_01And you sp um spoke about some dreams that you were having for about 20 years, and we're going to come into the we're going to talk about the book very soon, but I just wanted to touch on those dreams. So, whenever you had those dreams, you'd you know rebuke them in the name of Jesus. Why do you think they're still reoccurring, like even after you prayed or you know, rebuked the the dreams?
SPEAKER_00I went through uh two sessions of deliverance ministry. One of them was when I was in college, and the second one was after I was married and had children. And it's the second one that was really really left a huge impression on me. The first one I thought we were all done with it. Uh I met with two pastors from my church, I was a college student then, you know, prayed. I was scared, I didn't know what was gonna happen, and we prayed, and as we prayed, one of the pastors had a word of knowledge that there was a door that was a huge metal door, and there were all these demons behind it trying to get in. And as we prayed, he said an angel came and shut the door tight. So that closed a door that I had opened to the enemy, and I thought, wow, you know, I'm I'm done, and but then I still kept having these dreams, and fast forward to 1991, I was married with two small boys, and I remember my oldest was about to go into kindergarten, and we had just joined a church that had a school. This is how I remember that, and he was going to go into the kindergarten there. In the course of an interview with the pastor when we were becoming members, I told him that I had been involved in the occult. And he called up one night and said that there was a couple that was visiting the church who their daughter was a member of the church, but they had a deliverance ministry, and he wanted to know if I wanted to meet with them. And I said, Yeah, that sounds good. And so my husband and I met with this couple. Uh their names were Jim and Betty, I remember. And the way they did their ministry, Betty would have a word of knowledge, and Jim would do the praying. And so they explained all this to us. So we were with them for maybe two hours, never saw them before, never saw them after. But what happened during that time was life-changing. They started by breaking three curses over us, and I had never even thought that there could be a curse on my life. I thought, didn't Jesus break all those curses? But they broke three curses. They said we were under a curse of poverty, of chronic illness, and of premature death. And the third one was significant because my husband was having dreams at the time that he was going to die at age 35. That seemed very significant, and actually a lot of family members of his did die when they were young. They apparently broke these curses over us, and then they started to pray for me. And as they prayed for me, Betty said she has unloved. And Jim said, Unloved has a sister spirit named Unwanted. And I immediately thought, wow, a sister spirit. Because spirits have sisters? I mean, that really bored me. But I also was really shocked because they didn't know me. And when I was growing up in my dysfunctional family, I honestly believed with all my heart that I was not loved, that nobody loved me. I can remember lying in my bed at night as a child and just saying it out loud, nobody loves me. Which I have to say right off the bat is a lie from the enemy because my parents did love me. They and and other people loved me too. My parents had so many problems, I think they just weren't able to really minister to my needs for love as much as they could have. You know, but I but that's the way I felt. Maybe it was a love language thing that they didn't speak my same love language. I don't know, but I that I that I I remember saying that as a child. And so they started praying against these two spirits. It was the only time in the whole evening that the man spoke directly to them. And he said, This is what he said, I know that you have been in Meghan since she was in her mother's womb, but you have to come out now. And that kind of floored me too. And you know, I don't know if that was true, but when I look back on my life and my family, I think I can trace those two spirits back a couple of generations. I don't think my grandmother was loved or wanted, and I I don't think my mother was either, because my grandmother was planning to divorce my grandfather when she found out she was gonna have my mother, and that's what caused her to stay. I think they're generational spirits, but I also think that they're like powers, I think, in our culture right now. Unloved and unwanted. I mean, once once I saw this, I began to see it everywhere, and I think that it's just rampant in our culture that these two powers or spirits or whatever are just out there influencing people. But the other thing that was significant about that is that that was when God gave me the picture of two old hags, you know, in their black shawls, kind of bent over with their gray hair, tied in a bun, you know, and and I carried that picture away, and that was when I started writing the book because that was the inspiration to get it started.
SPEAKER_01I know that's kind of a lot to put out there all at once, but yeah, thing and and again, thank you so much for sharing. I'm I'm just like wow, wow, wow. Because just believing the lie of the enemy, you know, that you're unloved or unwanted, like that it's not a little act, but just that single act again can be a you know an opening for the enemy, just believing the lies of the enemy, you know, and I'm so glad that you know God delivered you from that. And I I want us to talk about after. So, what happened after that deliverance?
SPEAKER_00Like, did you start feeling loved and wanted? I did, but it was a process. I mean, it never happens overnight. I've thought about unloved and unwanted a lot. As I began to write the book, Unloved and Unwanted were two main characters, they come into my my heroine's life. I started to imagine what they were really like, and so I thought they're just these old ladies who are really annoying and frustrating, and they don't give you the right answer. And so I started to develop the character and I started to give them dialogue, and they would say things to My main character, like there's nothing in you that anybody could love, you're a complete failure, and just stuff like that. And I I began to realize how much I really heard those things in my own life, and again, they were they're lies, they're absolute lies. So, writing this story has really helped me develop, you know, my own feelings and my own healing, really, from this. And the other thing is, God had given me my husband who has demonstrated Christ's love to me incredibly over the years. I mean, he just he would tell me every day I was beautiful. He would, he just, and he's been so supportive of my writing, you know, and just uh one day the recently he told me I was awesome, you know. And I mean, I I always kind of thought that I would have this tragic romance or something, you know, but I have this wonderful husband and this wonderful marriage, and it's just a complete blessing. And he really models Christ's love to me. So I think that really was part of the healing, too. And I've noticed that if God wants to do a healing in your life, he might bring you back into the same place where you were hurt. So to come into my family and get healing there from the family that I had that hurt me, that that's significant. That's that is really a way that God works, I think, sometimes.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Okay. Um, are you able to tell us a little bit about your book and how that even came about, where the inspiration came from? I I want to hear more about it.
SPEAKER_00The book is about um a young girl. Her name is Aidan. She's 17 when the book starts. She turns 18 in the second book. She I used every cliche in the book. She is kind of like a fairy tale. She was left as an orphan on a doorstep. She is in this isolated mountain town named Hidden, and she has no idea where she came from, she doesn't know who her parents were, she doesn't know why she was abandoned. She was raised by a widow who was poor and later became abusive to her. You know, the story, you know, the whole thing started with Oven Wanted that, and I carried that picture away, and I knew I was supposed to do something with it, so I just sat down and started to write. And the story just kind of flowed. This was in 1991-92, so you're talking 35 years ago now. And my kids were small, they were in school, I had time to write. I worked, oh, I worked so hard on that. And over time, got really bogged down in it. I didn't know how to write a novel, it got to be bigger and bigger. And then in 1998, I had my daughter, my surprise at age 40 baby, and then we started homeschooling in 2000, and I had to set the whole thing aside. Over time, I gave it up for lost. I thought I'm never gonna finish this book, and but it didn't go away. I kept thinking of the characters, I kept thinking of you know everything about it, and I but I just didn't have time, and I thought, okay, I've I've won on my life is different now, and I'm just not gonna go back there. And then the technology changed. I didn't even have the same little processor. But then in in 2021, I was in my small group, and my friend said, and we started talking about deliverance ministry, and my friend said, Tell us what happened to you. So I did. And as I finished telling my testimony, I remember I looked down at my sneakers and God said to me, What are you gonna do with that book you started? You've got to finish that book. Uh it's a story only you can tell, and you've gotta have you've gotta tell it. And I kind of took that away and thought, well, yeah, well, I don't have the same technology anymore, and there were so many problems with it. And so I kind of put it on the back burner, and a couple weeks later was in group again, and somebody brought in their phone with this woman with a prophetic ministry, and the message that she had was, Whatever the Lord has told you to do, do it now. Time is of the essence. And I I mean that word just went right through me like a the sword in the spirit, and I went home that very day and pulled out all my little files, they converted right into my new word processor, and I started reading the book. And 10 minutes into it, I knew I was born to do this, and I had to obey God and write this story. So um, as I began to work on it again, the problem that I was having with the story, I found a quick fix for that, and and then I just kept working on it, and it quickly turned into three books. Um, the first one's now published, the second one I'm almost done with the edits, and the third one is all written, I just have to get that out. The way I would write, there's two kinds of writers. There's plotters who plot it all out and then write it, and then there's pantsers who work by the seat of their pants, and I'm a pantser. So I would sit down, and I believe it was all prophetic. I would sit down and I'd be writing along, and I would hear God, I know it was God, I would hear God say something along the lines of, you know, on the edge of the crowd over there, there's this woman, you've got to write her into the story. I'm like, okay. Um, you know, and this went on, this was how the whole book was written. Just he would show me a picture or tell me something, and I would write it into the story, and so it just kind of developed, and so she basically, my main character Aiden, she she basically wants to find her family. She's desperate to get out of that little town and find her family. She ends up working for the lady in town, the Lord and Lady, Lady Fairhaven, the woman on the edge of the crowd. She uh she starts saving money because she wants to leave town and go find her family. Well, all of a sudden in the morning she's walking alone and she meets these two old hags, unloved and unwanted. And they tell her that we know your mother. We knew you before you were born. And she immediately is very intrigued and she's like, Will you come and stay with me? And so I can find out more. So she invites them into her house, and once they get in there, they tell her that they are the servants of the dark prince, and they need the key to her house, and they scare her into giving them the key. And once they have the key, they won't leave. It's exactly like it was with me when I opened the door to Satan and he just barged in. And now she's got these servants of the dark prince living in her house, and they start flooding in, and there's more than actually more than a hundred of them, and they are all different. Some of them seem to bring good things into her life, and some of them are really horrible, like Knight Terrors is one of the characters. She basically is feeling very trapped by them, and she can't, you know, she's she's stuck. And then she has an encounter with a knight in shining armor on a white horse. I tell you, I use all the cliches. Um who chases her she's she's riding in a carriage because the pr the dark prince gives her a royal carriage, and he's she's riding in a carriage, and the d and this knight chases her carriage, sets the door on fire with his flaming sword, and throws a package to her. And in the package is a teeny tiny rose. There are a lot of roses in the story, and they're all symbolic. There's a lot of symbolism in the book. And he throws this rose to her. And once she has that rose, her whole life begins to get better. It that's the rose in that goes through the fire, and it doesn't die. So then she wants to find the knight. Now she wants to go find the knight. She's working on this quest, and like you know, her I'm not gonna I need I don't want to give any more spoilers away, but uh Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say, like, it's it's so good. Like w when I was gonna ask, like, um when does the deliverance happen? Is it is it in book one, book two, book three? But yes, no no no spoilers. Well, God is so intentional, you know. He knew you were going to write this book, and he knew that you were going to, you know, go through all of the things that you went through, and he was gonna, you know, you're going to find Christ and He was going to use you know all of those experiences in the future, like He's doing now, you know, with this book. And I like how you also mentioned that you know, God would you would ask God while you're writing and you invited God into your creativity because let's be honest, it's God who has given us this gift, you know, as writers, and and whatever gift it is that you have, it is God who has given you, right? And so just inviting the intentionality because it got me thinking, do I actually yes before I write I pray, but like am I inviting and then asking God or like listening for the voice of God when I write? I don't think I intentionally do that. So hearing you say that I'm like that's a whole you know other level of intentionality, and I I like that you I like that you mentioned that. The other thing I was gonna say is after that deliverance that day, did the dreams continue or that was it, that was the end?
SPEAKER_00The dreams continued, but at that same time God was bringing me through a process, and it wasn't long afterward that I remember I had one of the dreams again, and for the very first time I woke up before the dream was over, and that was when night terrors left. I could feel I started to wake up and I felt this thing come into my chest, and then it just went whoosh out through my chest, and uh I looked up on the ceiling, and there were all these creepy images of things that would be in a child's nightmare. That's what I saw, and I don't have those dreams anymore. God just chose the time, I guess, when he was gonna take it away. And I don't I don't know why I had them for so many years, but I do know that you know it was God that did deliver me. He chose the time and he chose the manner. So, yes, I've been delivered from them and I don't have them anymore.
SPEAKER_01Praise God. Yes, praise God. And for people who are interested in buying your book, I'll be honest, I I write nonfiction and so I I only read nonfiction, but these sound so interesting, right? And I think I'm this might be you know the first fiction book I might get into. So for people who are interested in purchasing a copy of the book, how can they get it?
SPEAKER_00It is available on Amazon uh as a paperback or an ebook, and it's available on Kindle Unlimited, which if you subscribe to that service, you can get it for free through Amazon. Uh, I would like to just make a disclaimer of my own though, that I in the preface of the book there is a content warning. There are triggers in the book, uh, and I list them rather specifically, you know, in the chapters, you know, watch out for this chapter kind of thing. Because there are things that happen to her that could trigger there's a lot of abuse, uh there's a bully, attempted sexual assault, there's I mean, there's all those things that happen. And it's a dark story, it's just it's clean, it doesn't have any erotica in it or swearing, but it is a dark story with a lot of adult themes. And I I really am afraid that that will be triggering to some people, and I I mean I really argued with God about it. I I cried over this book because I'm like, why am I writing this dark story? But it's it's in order to present a picture of complete hopelessness in this girl's life, so that when she comes into hope, you know, there will be a contrast. But my the book is long and it's dark, and so I will just warn people, you know, if you don't think that you can handle that, please don't read the book. Um, but it's but on the other hand, it's just a book. I mean, there's nothing in it that's gonna hurt you, uh, well, unless you have a trigger, but you know, it's just a book. And I believe that we have a God who is the one being in the universe who thinks outside the box more than anybody. And he apparently decided that I needed to tell this out-of-the-box Christian story, you know, and just present this picture of spiritual warfare, you know, and it it's a it's a totally unique thing. I've had uh a lot of reviewers say I've never read a story like this before. There's no, I will also say that in the book there's no magic, there's no witchcraft, there's no sorcery. The only thing that is the warfare is the lies, because that's how the enemy works. He puts a lie into your heart or your mind. Yes, and the minute he gets you to believe that lie, he's got you. And I think at the root of every sin, there is a lie that we believe. So that's the that's the whole frame about how I'm working around this book.
SPEAKER_01And I I appreciate you, I appreciate you um sharing that, you know, and just giving that disclaimer. And I'm happy you mentioned spiritual welfare because I wanted to ask about that. Because when people hear spiritual welfare, they feel sometimes confused, afraid, you know, and again, like you said in the beginning, I feel like the amount of two screws of that, like some people feel like once I'm a Christian, grace covers me, nothing can harm me, I'm I'm fine, the enemy does not have access into my life, which is true, right? Which is completely true. However, I feel like if you cannot be ignorant of the devices of the enemy, and if you are ignorant or you let your guards down, like you like you you cannot be, you know, ignorant of the devices of the enemy, and you have to know that you know the spirit is constantly at war, you know, with the flesh. And I just you know what want to ask you like in your own terms, like what is spiritual welfare?
SPEAKER_00Like I say, I think at the root of it is believing lies. I think that well, I just got through with a Bible study on Ephesians with a group, and we just actually I shared my testimony when we got to the part at the end where they talk about the armor of God, putting on the armor of God, and basically when you become a Christian, there's a target on your back. I mean, the enemy then looks at you and says, uh, I want to get this person, you know, and really, and so we're we're in a war zone all the time with the enemy, yes, and we need to know how to recognize what he's doing. We need to understand well, we need to understand Satan has a specific strategy for every person on the planet. He knows how to get you, okay? He just he knows he's he's not he's not like God, he doesn't know everything, but he know he might know what might uh speak to you or hurt you the most. You know, he might tempt one person into drugs, he might tempt one person into something else. He tempted me into witchcraft, and he's got a strategy for every people group. You know, every country has like a spirit over it, a a pr a principality, a prince over every country. You know, every people group. I mean, so he's not stupid, he's got a strategy, he's got a plan. He's he's not stupid, no.
SPEAKER_01What I said he's not stupid.
SPEAKER_00No, he's not, he's not um, he's very crafty, you know, he uh lies and kills and steals, and we kind of really need to be aware we need discernment for if we hear something, we need to think, is this really true? Maybe we might need to research something. You know, there's a lot of lies flying around right now in the media. You know, research. If you're curious, research, don't just take somebody's word for something. I think for I have a real burden for women. I kind of know some of the lies that we hear all the time as women and girls. And I've met a lot of women who have shared with me how actually how my book has helped them, you know, just pinpoint one of these spirits and see. I had one friend who said there's one spirit in there named um false or yeah, false imaginings, vain imaginings, and she realized that that was one of the things that she was dealing with in her life, you know, and and fear is a big one. But I think basically just being aware of the lies, just being aware of lies, mostly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I agree. And what would you say to that young woman who's listening and just battles with um feeling unloved, unwanted, and has somehow believed the lies of the enemy. What would you say to her?
SPEAKER_00I would say, first of all, that unloved and unwanted is a huge lie because in reality you are fiercely loved and fiercely wanted by a God who is a lover and a warrior, and he has fought for you. You know, the knight, the knight on the white horse with shining armor. In the book of Revelation, Jesus is coming back on a white horse, and he's coming for us, and he's coming for a bride. He just loves you. I I can't even begin to describe how deeply God loves you. He died for you. I'm I remember when I started writing the book again, that hit me all over again. I've been a Christian at that point for about 49 years, and it hit me all over again that somebody died for me, and it was like I was born again all over again. I fell in love with Jesus all over again when I started doing this book. I actually I'll tell you a story from when I was in college and I had fallen madly in love with a guy who was not the right guy, and he broke my heart, shattered my heart, and I was really devastated. And I remember lying on my bed with my face down, and I put my head in the Bible that I was reading, and I said, God, I am not going to move from this spot until you speak to me. And he immediately spoke to me and he said, Megan, I love you with an everlasting love, and I am yearning for the day when you will come to me and see me face to face, and your joy will be made full, and I am building you a house, and I am filling it with everything you love, and it will be ready for you on the day you come to me. And I want to say those words to every woman or girl who's listening to this. This is how much God loves you. He is yearning. I mean, I could practically feel his heart beating. I felt so close to him in that moment. It was like he wrapped his arms around me and I could practically feel his heart beating. And I just feel like he loves each one of us that much. I think that he, in the words of one writer, he laughs with me and he cries with me. And he pushes the hair out of my eyes and he makes me feel like a lady. I remember those words from a book I read once. I just I wish that women could get a picture in their mind of this lover who loves them so much, because that's the that's the heart of the lie right there. I mean, God in the beginning began writing a love story about a prince who's looking for a bride, if you want to put it in those terms. And the idea that we're all not in the morning is the most heinous and disgusting lie of all. It really is. So I just really, really wish that everyone who is listening would really know just how deeply Jesus loves them. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much, Megan, for sharing, to be honest. Yeah, he he loves us. Like I'm reminded of that song. He's jealous for me, I think, or yeah, he's jealous for me, and he he loves me. Oh how he loves me. That song just um came to came to mind. But yes, Jesus loves you, Jesus loves us, and what greater way to show it, you know, other than sending his only son to die for us on the cross. So, yeah, thank you so much, Megan, for sharing your testimony. It has blessed me and I'm sure it will bless you know the people who are listening and or watching this as well. Thank you very much, Megan. Thank you.
