A Guided Prayer for When God Seems Far Away

Hi friends , this is Kelly Johnson and you're listening to a bonus episode of In the Flow . This is where I step outside of our normal season themes to share what God is placing on my heart , sometimes a story , sometimes a prayer , but always spirit-led . Before we step into a time of prayer , I want to share what stirred this moment for me . During my own quiet time with the Lord , the phrase faithful and true from Revelations 19.11 , kept resonating in my spirit . It was such a powerful reminder of the character and goodness of God that Jesus shows up faithfully , that he is true to His promises , that he is a man of his word , that he cannot lie and that we can anchor ourselves in him with assurance , with confidence . If God said it , he will do it . As I prayed into that , I felt led to share this extended prayer with you Now . If you're already subscribed to my YouTube channel , you'll know that I occasionally drop brief kind of five to seven minute prayers , and those are always available to you as well . But my hope is that , as you listen , you'll not just hear my words . My prayer is that you actively join me in praying and that you'll encounter his presence and be reminded that God is indeed faithful and true .

Let's pray together , father . Today we declare that you are faithful and true . We are reminded and we require of ourselves to focus on the fact that you are faithful and true . Scripture tells us in Revelation 19 , faithful and true is just one of your many names . And with justice you , lord , god , judge and you wage war . Lord , we know , in fact , that you wage war on our behalf and you come from a place of being faithful and true .

It doesn't matter how long . It doesn't matter how long we've been dealing with the situation or the thing , or the health crisis , or the financial situation , or the uncertainty or the anxiety or the lack of peace . It doesn't matter how long we have had fractures in our family relationships . It does not matter , because you are faithful and true and you delight to give us the desires of our heart . You delight to bring resolution and restoration to us . It's why you sent your son Jesus . You sent your son Jesus so that we could be redeemed , restored and set free . There is no other reason that you would send and sacrifice your only precious son . Why would you go through all of that ? Why would Jesus endure the cross if it wasn't for our salvation , if it wasn't for us to receive all of your hope , all of your joy , all of your love , all of your peace ?

You are not the type of God to do things halfway , to do things partially . It is not even in your character or nature to leave something undone . You said in scripture that you would leave the 99 to go after the one . So it is not in your character , it is incongruent for you , to leave something or someone undone . That's why , today , we remind ourselves that you are faithful and true in all of your glory , as you sit in heaven , in all of your splendor . You are faithful and true .

And , lord , today we reflect and we try , even in our humanity , in the limitations of our humanity , we try to just imagine your great and vast love , your joyous love , lord . I am reminded of how sweet your nature is and we try to just wrap our heads around how lovingly you look at us as your children , how much you adore us , how much joy you get out of seeing our joy , how much pride you get in seeing us seek your face . How much joy and pride you see when we are generous and charitable towards others , when we're patient with ourselves , when we're patient with other people . How much pride you must feel when we forgive , because you forgave us first . And so how much pride you must have when we try to act like you , when we try to emulate our father .

Lord , in the natural , as parents , we can relate to what it's like when we see our own children or our nieces and our nephews , when we see them doing good and trying their hardest . And , lord , we know that you're not rewarding striving . We know that you're not pleased when we try to muscle our way throughs in the natural . But , lord , we know what it's like from an earthly standpoint when we see our children or our students or our nieces and nephews , our friends , when we see them really embracing your heart and your love and your character , your mindset . So , lord , we can only imagine how much joy you get out of being in close relationship with us and how much joy and pleasure you get when we take attempts and steps towards you . It's the whole reason why you created us . You created us to be in relationship with you , and so , lord , we just thank you . We thank you for the great length , effort and effort and strength that you used in order to make sure that we would always be in relationship with you .

We know that it's hard for us , as humans , to fathom , to really wrap our head around how much you love us , especially in a world where people disappoint us family members and loved ones , spouses , people disappoint us , people that we love and so sometimes it's hard to even imagine how much you love us , because we see so much imperfect love around us . But we know that your love is perfect , we know that your love is pure . We know that your love is pure , it is faithful , it is true , it is immeasurable , and so today we take possession of your love , we actively receive it , we receive it , we declare that we receive your love , we receive your greatness , we receive your spirit , we receive all the rights and the privileges and the access that we have through Christ Jesus , because your word says that we are seated in heavenly places through Christ Jesus . So we sit at your feet , we sit in your throne room . We sit in heavenly places , a place of authority . We receive it today , father . We will not settle for less . We will not settle for less than what you have already intended for us to have , what you have already purchased through the blood of Jesus . We're not settling anymore , we're not taking less than what you have already given us through Christ .

And I'm not talking about human striving . I'm not talking about human striving . I'm not talking about human capability . Here . I'm talking about what you have already given us in the spirit realm . I'm talking about our spiritual weapons . I'm talking about our spiritual sonship , our spiritual daughtership . I am talking today , lord , about the authority and the power that we have received , that same resurrection power that you used , god , when you raised your son Jesus from the dead , when Jesus uttered that it is finished the complete work of the cross . That is today what we take access of Actively . We take possession of it , knowing that through you , lord Jesus , we have everything we need . We have everything we need , and if you haven't given it to us yet , we know that you are working all things together for our good , because we love you and we are called according to your purposes .

We receive today the fullness of your love , the fullness of your faithfulness , the fullness of your truth , the fullness of your justice , the fullness of your might . We receive today , lord , all that we are through you . We take on our full identity in you . We take off any old garment , any old ways , any old mindsets . We release them now . We literally shake them off , lord , in the name of Jesus . We take off any old labels . We take off any old default patterns of thinking , of behaving , of doing , of speaking . We release them now in the mighty name of Jesus and Lord , we take up your cup , we take up your fruit , we take up your character , your spirit and your nature in its fullness . We receive today , lord , what you have always wanted to give us . We receive today , lord , what you freely give to us . Thank you that . It is not by our might , it is not by our strength or power , it is by your spirit , says the Lord , that we have everything that we need . We thank you , lord , that no weapon formed against us will prosper because of you , not because of anything that we can do .

I believe it's in the Psalms , where I think it's David who says you know some trust in their horses , some trust in their chariots , but we trust in the name of the Lord . We're not trusting in our bank accounts . We're not trusting in our careers . We're not trusting that we live in the right neighborhood or address . We're not trusting in the fact that we went to the right schools or we do the right things on a human , earthly level . We're not trusting in any of that . We consider all of that dung . It is worthless .

Only you , lord , are good . Only you , lord , are truly powerful , are truly just , are truly right , are truly loving . We pick up your cup today , lord , not our own . We let go of everything that gets in the way of us fully receiving , fully walking in , fully living All that you are , all of who you are , your character , your heart , your love , your tenderness and your power , all your mercy , all your grace and all of your strength . You are the only one who can be more than one thing at one time . Sometimes you show up mighty and strong , sometimes you show up tender and gentle . Thank you , lord , that you are a multitude of things and you are everything we need . You are everything we need .

Thank you for the intentional way that you love us , that you relate to us , that you speak to us , that you hold us . Thank you for the way that you care so uniquely for each of your children . No one can love us like you do , jesus . You love me differently , you love them differently , lord , but it's still the same love . It shows up a little uniquely . It's so tailored to each of us . It's like a finely tailored suit . It's tailored to each of us . It's like a finely tailored suit . It only fits us as an individual , but it's all woven from the same fabric . So we receive your unique and special and tender way that you love us , that you fight for us , that you heal us , that you redeem us , that you restore us .

We bless you , father , we thank you , lord , we honor you , we glorify your wonderful name , the name above every name . How great is our God , how great is our God ? And we love you , lord , we bless you and we thank you for loving us first . Thank you for making the first move , lord . We didn't even have to do anything . You took the first step towards us . Even in our filth , our humanity , you still took the first step towards us to love us , to create the most beautiful and intimate relationship with us .

Thank you . It feels like thank you isn't even strong enough , but we still say thank you , hallelujah , hallelujah , hallelujah , hallelujah . Glory be to God who hears us , who sees us , who knows us so intimately , to the only wise God , the only faithful and true God . We glorify and magnify your name .
