Thank you letters matter and the only question is whether or not you want to go the extra mile as a candidate and to help solidify your candidacy. You really don't have to do this for every job. If you get vibes you don't like from maybe the interviewer or you're at least patient and wait long enough to get to know like the manager or someone you'll actually be working with more and you just don't like how things went. Maybe you just didn't get along or something seemed off. You don't need to send a thank you letter for those. But if you feel like you made the right connection with the right company, you had maybe a couple, did we just become best friends moments, or maybe the pay's just really good and everything else is fine, but you would love to get that type of compensation. Maybe the projects you'll be working on are awesome. The technology is great. Whatever it is, if you care about getting a job, there are things you can do that help solidify that. This one is really simple. We're just going to focus on what The thank you letter says, I've covered when to write thank you letters and other episodes. This is just for handwritten thank you letters, not emails. If you want a company to invest the time to get to know you, prove to them that you'll invest the time to make them glad that they did for your thank you letter. Here's what you can write. Dear John. Sincerely, your name. That simple. Has to be short, obviously it's a thank you letter. They're painful to write. If you're like me, you're going to have to write it twice anyway, because you're going to screw up like the last word of it. So I'm going to read that again, and I'm going to insert some made up things into here just to make it flow a little bit better. Dear John, thank you for your time and insight into this podcast extravaganza role. After getting to know you, the team, and the mission here at Best Podcasts Ever Incorporated, I am convinced that my experience as a. Interview, podcast will help advance your mission. Sincerely, your name. If you happen to be thinking that is really generic and plain and uninteresting, it is. The thank you letter is not the time to schmooze, not the time to kiss up, not the time to write a long letter about how you save puppies and how you want to save the universe and this job's going to let that happen. What you say in the cover letter doesn't matter. You're doing some good things here in this template I've created, but overall it's the fact that you send the, the thank you letter. That's all that matters. So keeping it generic is safe and it keeps you from going way off field or saying something stupid. Like I really, really, really want this job. Oh my gosh, I want it. Or like the save the puppy stuff. So that's why it's generic. Now I've done some sneaky things here. Like I, at the end here, you say how your experience will help advance their mission. So saying you want the job, you say you help them do it. They need to do. You're helping John achieve his goal. Okay, so this is meant to be generic. That's intentional. I would recommend that you use this. You can change it a little bit, but don't make it any longer. I'm going to include this template for what I just read in this episode's description.
