In this episode of Sacred Spaces & The Business Commune, Angela dives deep into the concept of business as a pilgrimage—a sacred path toward self-realisation, mastery, and purposeful entrepreneurship. In a world that sees business as endless tasks and measurable outcomes, Angela challenges us to reframe our perspective, to see our business journeys as pathways to our highest selves. Join her and explore the deeper essence of being an enlightened entrepreneur, where growth, transformation, and purpose are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Highlights:

  1. The Call to Adventure:
Every business begins with a spark—a dream, an idea, or a quiet call from within. This is the beginning of the pilgrimage, a step into the unknown as we build a business and discover who we are as creators and leaders.
  2. The First Steps – Building the Foundations:
The groundwork for our businesses, is rooted in purpose, values, and vision. This solid foundation forms the bedrock that supports us during the challenges that will arise along the way.
  3. Challenges and Obstacles – The Initiation:
Business, like any pilgrimage, is filled with obstacles that test our resolve. Angela shares how the challenges we face are invitations to grow, to stand in our truth, and to build our craft. Mastery isn’t a destination, but a continuous process of learning and evolving.
  4. The Growth Phase – Integration:
As we integrate lessons learned along the way, business becomes an expression of our soul’s work. Clarity emerges, and our purpose aligns with our day-to-day actions, bringing a sense of flow and grace to our entrepreneurial endeavours.
  5. Mastery – The Journey That Never Ends:
Mastery in business is about being present, engaged, and ever-growing and a continual process of becoming, where the inner self and the outer work of business merge to create something truly aligned with our soul's purpose.

Key Takeaways:

  • Business is not just about profits or market share; it’s a sacred journey that reveals who we are becoming.
  • Mastery in business is an ongoing process, marked by growth, resilience, and alignment with purpose.
  • The challenges we face are initiations that help us evolve and deepen our connection to our purpose and spirit.
  • True mastery is achieved when we merge the inner work of self-realisation with the outer work of building a business.

Final Thoughts: and a powerful reminder: Mastery is not a destination but a devotion—a conscious act of being before doing. Your business is an extension of your soul’s journey. You're invited to continue walking this path of mastery with intention and awareness, exploring the practices that make business a spiritual practice.

Next Time we will dive deeper into the practices that shape The Busin

Business as a Pilgrimage – Walking the Path of Mastery

The Business Yogi | Sacred Spaces & The Business Commune Podcast

Welcome, beautiful souls. You’re listening to another episode of Sacred Spaces and The Business Commune. Today, we’re exploring something close to my heart—Business as a Pilgrimage: Walking the Business Path of Mastery and Self Realisation

Because business, when you really think about it, isn’t just about profit margins or market share. It’s about walking a path of growth, of transformation… of deep remembering.

In a world that’s constantly demanding that we keep doing more and having more—more output, more performance, more metrics and accolades—In amongst, the emails, the decisions, the highs, the financial pressures, the deep nights of doubt, we can so easily lose sight of what business really is: a sacred journey. A space where who we are becoming is just as important as what we’re building.

When I refer to and use the word “pilgrimage,” I don’t mean that we need to leave our offices and homes and go on a physical pilgrimage - though that may well spark another form of a Spiritual transformation. Here in the context of business and entrepreneurship, I speak to the everyday journey we’re on. Business and careers become the path we walk to know ourselves, to rise into our deeper truth, to meet our shadow and our light with grace and to embody our purpose and vocation in how we contribute to the betterment of our world.

Every moment of every day, every step you take - sometimes forwards, sometimes seemingly backwards in your business is a moment of learning, of initiation, of evolving your inner compass, aligning who you are with what you do. And the mic drop moment for me was when I understood that I didn’t have to have it all figured out; that building a business was another form of how I could express my Soul’s journey and that it could be the path to Self Realisation.

One of the most powerful applications of this was in understanding that clarity came from being in the present, fully here and in the now and that mastery comes not from some transcendent, navel contemplating burning bush moment - that it comes from daily being engaged with what is, and open to what’s possible.

In this episode, we’re going to blow some of our old thinking and conventions about business out of the water!

How about engaging in a deep meaningful conversation about the real journey of what it means to be an enlightened entrepreneur? How about reframing the lens through which we look at business as a multifaceted expression of who we are and what we are here to be and then do? What if we were to look at our businesses as something that is our Soul work and not something separate from who we are?

There is a path to discover as we open ourselves up to being and then doing and I am inviting you to explore this path with me. Each step on the path builds upon the previous contributing to the sacred journey of the enlightened, empowered and embodied soulpreneur.

1. The Call to Adventure

It all begins with a spark. A whisper. An idea, a dream, or that quiet inner voice saying, “There is something more…” I am sure that you have connected with that sound, that idea and that very question, otherwise I doubt that you would have found your way to tuning into this episode!  This is the sound of your soul calling you to open up to the possibilities that this adventure of being could lead you to. It is the voice that is putting you on notice that there is indeed more and it is waiting for you to step onto your true path -This the call to adventure. It’s thrilling, scary, unknown, and exciting.

When people tell you that creating and running a business is about solving a problem - they did not lie - this is only half the truth. Stepping up and out in crafting and creating your own business is about meeting the version of yourself that’s ready to lead. For you see, I have learned that business, is an outward manifestation of who we are on the inside. When we are in alignment with who we are, with the call to adventure, AND are being of service in solving problems for others, we then are in a position to begin the journey to building a business that is authentic, heart led and sustainable.

2. The First Steps – Building the Foundations

So where do we start - and yes we need structures, systems, strategies - the mechanisms that are put in place to solve problems, but in my view - before we get there, we need to be grounding ourselves, establishing a first foundation from which we are able to withstand the challenges - and there are many, the self doubt - and again there will be many times that you question yourself and your purpose - all a part of the pilgrimage!!! And the only way that I can share from my experience is to know, understand, and ground my purpose, vision, my values into the foundation of who I Am and then I can get to the structures, systems and all the other moving parts that make up the running of a business.

How did I do it? Firstly I was blessed with a vision a long time ago. That vision translated into my purpose - the compass that has kept on the path in fulfilling that purpose - who I am and what I have to offer the world. I also parallel processed in the early years - with my full time job and researching and creating this foundation at night for nearly two years before I fired my job. Over the decades that I have been in my own business, it has been this core, this foundation that has fortified me at every turn - all the highs and all of the lows. Knowing who I am and what I have to offer the world, and not from ego, from a genuine desire to serve, has provided the true north for me to keep going in my truth, integrity and with purpose.

3. Challenges and Obstacles – The Initiation

Don’t for one minute think it is plain sailing and that the line from point zero to the goal is a straight line - far from it! Again being anchored and fortified in my Soul’s why, has been what has enabled me, stubbornly at times, to withstand the challenges and obstacles, to elarn from them, to face my own doubts and insecurities, good choices and pretty seemingly poor decisions that have led to all manner of dead ends, delays and yes debt too!

I know for sure that when we put our stake in the ground, when we stand in the truth of who we are and in our purpose, that the universe will test you. It has me, many times! What I have also come to know is that this is where the magic lives. Without doubt, every single challenge has been an invitation to rise, to claim my space, to stand in my truth, to expand my skills set, to deepen my connection to Spirit, to learn, to trust, to listen, to grow.

Again this is the path of mastery - mastery is not an end point or a destination, it is built incrementally, one step, one learning, one regroup at a time. And this, this is the foundation upon which wisdom is acquired. The initiations and there are many, of overcoming challenges and obstacles are the stuff that craftsmanship is made of - Edison and the Lightbulb!!!

4. The Growth Phase – Integration

Craftmanship - honing ourselves, our gifts, talents and skills is also Soul work - it is the work of our soul that brings us clarity. The clarity of purpose, of meaning, of heightened knowing and intuition that is rooted in the deeper purpose of it all. With clarity comes growth, flow and where your business is at-one-ment with your soul. Lessons are integrated as we look back on the progress that we have made one step at a time. Purpose and the manifestation of that purpose in the world is aligned. This flow brings in the energy of grace and ease instead of functioning.

5. Mastery – The Journey that Never Ends

And then, we reach a stage of having mastered - for now that which has been presented to us to learn and grow from. We become more accomplished, able to tackle more challenging circumstances, as we iterate again and again in the upward movement of a spiral. We welcome new cycles of growth, new challenges, new opportunities to stretch into more of who we are, and manifesting this in more of what we have to offer to those who seek what it is that we share in the world. We are attaining mastery because we have fully connected with the energy of being and living our business instead of the endless hamster wheel of doing. Mastery is also when the inner being of who we are and the work we have done to stretch into this ever growing sense of Self and the outer work and manifestation that is our business’s expression of the Self, merge. We are in a continuous spiral of becoming.

So here we are, having walked a little way together—exploring what it means to see your business not just as a mechanism for earning, but as a mirror of your becoming. As a vessel for transformation. As a sacred pilgrimage.

We’ve spoken of the call to adventure… the laying of foundations… the trials and the thresholds… the growth that comes when soul and service meet… and the ever-unfolding spiral of mastery. And perhaps, just perhaps, something in you is whispering, “Yes. This is the journey I’m on too.”

I want to leave you with this: Mastery is not a destination. It’s a devotion. A conscious act of being before doing. A daily return to your truth. A choice to let your business be an extension of your soul’s aliveness and a channel through which your deeper purpose takes form in the world.

And so, beautiful soul, wherever you find yourself on this sacred path—whether you're just hearing the call or deep in the spiral of becoming—may you remember that your business is not separate from you. It is you, expressed.

If this conversation has stirred something within you, trust that. Let it settle. Let it speak.

And as we continue walking this path together, I invite you to stay close—because in the coming episodes, we’ll begin exploring the deeper practices, rhythms, and rituals that shape The Business Yogi way. It’s where sacred meets strategy… and business becomes a spiritual practice.

Until then, take gentle steps. Stay true. And know the path is unfolding just as it should.
