Aslı Vatansever
Aslı Vatansever is a sociologist of work who researches academic labor, precarity, and exile. She completed her PhD at the University of Hamburg and was working at a private university in Istanbul when she signed the 'Academics for Peace' petition in 2016, calling for an end to state violence in Turkey's Kurdish regions. She was subsequently dismissed from her position and is one of thousands of Turkish academics who lost their jobs in the crackdown that followed. She now lives and works in Berlin, where she wrote At the Margins of Academia: Exile, Precariousness, and Subjectivity (2020). She currently works at Bard College Berlin.
