Gábor Scheiring
Gábor Scheiring is a political economist and professor at Georgetown University in Qatar. His book The Retreat of Liberal Democracy: Authoritarian Capitalism and the Accumulative State in Hungary offers a political-economic analyses of Hungarian illiberalism. He is a former member of the Hungarian Parliament, where he served from 2010 to 2014 as a representative of the green party Politics Can Be Different (LMP), which he co-founded with Kristóf Szombati. His research focuses on the political economy of illiberalism, democratic backsliding, and the health costs of the post-socialist transition.
