Leesha (01:00)
Hello everyone and happy Friday!

Alex (01:01)
Hello everyone and happy Friday.

Which means welcome to Unleash Moms.

Leesha (01:06)
Yes, we are here for today's recording. It feels like a very long week. That's why I say that.

Alex (01:12)
Yes,

it has been a long week. We kind of hit the ground running for March, basically.

Leesha (01:16)
Yeah, and our podcast days have been a little wonky lately just with different things happening. So what is today's Friday? So.

Alex (01:20)
Mm.

Yeah, I'll admit to it. threw

a wrench in our podcast recording schedule because I signed Logan up for dance for her birthday. And unfortunately it was only on Wednesdays, which is our normal recording night.

Leesha (01:27)
You

Yeah.

Yeah. So now we're like, well, we to find a new day, but we knew we needed to record. So today is actually Friday. Today we are going to do a recap of our winging it in Waco girls trip that we had two weekends ago.

Alex (01:43)
Yeah, Friday recording for our Friday episodes.

Yeah, it wasn't long ago. We kind of mentioned it to you guys before that we were gonna do that. We've officially done it a couple of weekends ago, like Leesha said. So now we can tell you all about our thoughts on Waco and Girl Stripes.

Leesha (02:09)
Yeah, I had been to Waco before, the overall, I mean, just like to start off, the overall vibe of the trip was good. Like you, like my mom enjoyed it and you enjoyed it. And we're like surprised that we even had that good of a time.

Alex (02:18)
Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, it was really fun. Like Leisha said, she and her mom had been there before and they were kind of like, eh. And then this trip the whole time, especially your mom was like, this was like surprisingly way better than the last trip. And I was like, well, I'm glad that this is going so well then.

Leesha (02:36)
Yeah.

Yeah.

So we went the week that it was ridiculously cold. Like we had freezing temps off and on that week. Yeah. And then when we got there, even though it was cold, the sun was out. So we kind of like, it was like ideal situation, I guess, in weather for.

Alex (02:46)
Yeah, we accidentally went on freezing temperatures.

Yeah, it was nice

because we were to walk around and everything because no it wasn't too hot and it wasn't like freezing freezing with the Sun out so that was good I Think the cold scared him off. Yeah

Leesha (03:05)
Yeah, and I think the cold scared off a lot of people too. Maybe maybe it's just not the season to be down there But there really wasn't big crowds Yeah, and

so um Yeah, I don't think we had too many. Okay. Wait, I was gonna say we didn't have too many surprises But that week my car was acting up and I was supposed to drive

Alex (03:24)
yeah,

and she was like, my engine light is on and we're driving.

Leesha (03:28)
The tire pressure sensor monitor is on and I was like, my God, like my car doesn't ever have issues. And it didn't. The lights were just on. It literally had no issues. And then, yeah, like 250 miles later, the light goes off and it literally hasn't come back on. None of them.

Alex (03:33)
Yeah, we made it all the way there and she's like, my light went off.

It was just warming up.

It just wanted to tell you that you can't get a new car. It was being testy with you.

Leesha (03:48)
Yeah, I know, I know. And we talked

about that in the last episode. Literally, when I talk about getting a new car, when I'm in my car, a light comes on. It's crazy.

Alex (03:55)
It's

because it's temperamental. does not like you talking about replacing it.

Leesha (04:00)
I know it is I'm like, okay fine, but all is good. We made it there was no extra adventures

Alex (04:03)
But all was good. Thank goodness there was no extra adventures. No extra adventures, thank goodness. That would have

just been a great start to the trip.

Leesha (04:12)
Yeah.

So let's kind of go back and just remind people of who went on the trip and yeah, let's start there.

Alex (04:20)
Okay. Yeah, let's start there. All right,

well, Leisha and I both brought our eldest with us, which for her would be Delilah, and for me would be Logan. They're obviously very different in ages. My daughter's five and yours is 11. So, but they had a lot of fun. I think they really enjoyed getting to go do that. I do think it's funny though, because you can definitely tell they're both eldest daughters when they talk to each other and yeah.

Leesha (04:36)
They really did.

Yeah.

Yeah. yeah. well, and what

was funny was when Logan was moming Delilah on the first morning, she was like, Delilah, do you have your hat? Do you have your gloves? Do you have your coat? And Delilah was just staring at her like, what are you doing?

Alex (04:49)
Yes.

Yeah, she was like,

no and looks like you can't go outside until you put those on it is way too cold. It was so funny.

Leesha (05:06)
Yeah. Um, so

then our friend Nat came who we've had on the podcast before and then my mom, um, came with us as well. And so we all packed into the car and we headed out after school on Friday. Um, evening was like four 30 when we left.

Alex (05:11)
I know.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, we got to

the Airbnb at like almost eight, I think it was. And then we did a quick HEB run.

Leesha (05:24)
830. Yeah.

Yeah. Cause if you guys remember from the last episode, we

talked about how I was like, it's a girl's trip. It's not the whole family. I'm not planning anything. So we, what did we do? We stopped at Bucky's for dinner. And then when we got there, we were like, okay, what does people, know, what do want for breakfast and like snacks? So we got like a fruit and veggie tray and then bagels, yogurt, egg bites, coffee stuff. Yeah. Chips and then some drinks for the girls.

Alex (05:47)
Yeah, bagels, yogurt, coffee stuff, of course.

The house was so cold though. rented this like it was built in 1930, I think. And it was renovated, but still like not the best insulated house, obviously.

Leesha (06:01)
Yeah, like 1920s or 30s.

No.

Well, when we got there, the, I went straight to the thermometer or wait, thermostat. I was like, wait, and it was set at 62. That's why it was so cold. So then we like, couldn't get warm. And then my mom texted us when we went to the store and she's like, get me slippers. The wood floor is so cold. There was no, there was nothing. No, there was just nothing. but.

Alex (06:18)
Oh my gosh, no wonder it was so frigid!

Yeah, but we were at HEB, like there was no slippers. There wasn't even socks.

Leesha (06:37)
The Airbnb was super cute. I think it was really cute. All the rooms were set up really cute.

Alex (06:39)
It was so cute. And they had a great

list of like things to check out that weren't just like the Magnolia market and stuff. And we actually found one of our things was from that we went to was from one of the photos they had hanging in the house.

Leesha (06:45)
Yeah.

yeah, we had to go. Yeah, we'll have to share some of these pictures obviously

when this comes out. Cause I don't think we shared anything on Instagram really. We really disconnected and just were spending time with, you know, friends and family and the girls. And it just, it really was really fun.

Alex (07:00)
Not really. Yeah.

Yeah, it was fun. And I think that for Logan, was like special for her because obviously everything is with her and her sisters now with us. And then like we just get carve out little time, little bits of time, me and her. So this was nice for her to have like a dedicated weekend with mom, basically.

Leesha (07:14)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah. well, so let's talk about like the importance of stepping away because I know that you were really nervous to leave the girls, the twins.

Alex (07:33)
I was. Oh my gosh. Okay, so I'm just gonna put this out there. We co-sleep. I know, boo, boo. But the twins and

Cody, Cody's never been left overnight with the twins really, like not in like that kind of sense. Like we have like when I've had to take one of them to the ER or something, but then he's awake. So I was really worried he would roll over them.

Leesha (07:51)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Alex (07:56)
because he moves a lot in his sleep and so do they

and so was like my gosh he's gonna just steamroll these babies

Leesha (08:01)
Yeah Yeah,

but we got through it in it I just I think we just we had a lot of fun But it was really nice like you said to kind of get to connect more with the girls and Lila does she loves anyone on one time? Anyone one on one time with anyone so and then having mom there me there and now it's like you and Logan it's like all our favorite people all together and so

Alex (08:11)
Yeah. Yeah.

you and love you. all are capable of all of And so it

Leesha (08:28)
It was really good. It was really nice to just

Alex (08:28)
was really, really good to just...

Leesha (08:30)
step away and just be responsible for one kid and not two and a husband.

Alex (08:33)
Yeah,

I know I was just telling Leisha before we started this having one kid on the trip is having like no kids for me when I have less Even just two feels like less kids. But yeah when I have just one I'm like, this is so easy I remember when I had an only Yeah

Leesha (08:40)
Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. And when you have three other adults that are there too. So

it's just like, and Delilah. So it's like, it was just really nice. Um, and one of our past episodes, we talked about just the importance of taking care of yourself as a mom and how that really is beneficial in you being able to take care of other people. So this is one of those.

Alex (09:06)
take care of other people. Filling your own cup.

Yeah.

Leesha (09:10)
Yeah, this

was kind of one of those things where you put it on your bucket list I think was like I mean, I think we both put it on our bucket list for like girls trip, but like that's yeah, I don't know where my bingo card is to be honest

Alex (09:14)
yeah, I crossed it off. I shared that in stories.

I have mine sitting on my desk

to keep me like, I need to like, I need to start getting some of these done. I have some that I have like tally marks for cause I like put like a number on it. Like, I'll check up five new coffee shops. I've like got tally marks going on.

Leesha (09:28)
Okay.

multiple.

Yeah. but it was just a really nice refresher to like get out, get to go explore

and you love to travel. I love to travel. Nat loves to travel. My mom, we all love to travel, I guess. We'd like going down the list. And so it was.

Alex (09:47)
Yeah, I Don't think if any

of us didn't like to travel we wouldn't have gone Yeah Or at least sort of like to get out

Leesha (09:56)
Yeah, yeah, that's true. I mean, well, maybe. Because I feel like you could

get people with like, it's a girls trip, you have to come, you know, but all of us like really love to travel. Yeah, yeah. So that was just, you know, and we don't get out and get to do those things very often, though on our way home, we were like, okay, let's plan the next one, but Nat's gonna have her baby in May. And so we're like, well, how long do you need? And you can just bring baby too.

Alex (10:06)
Yeah, and it was a small group too. It wasn't like it was like a big group thing necessarily.

Who knows? Yeah.

Leesha (10:26)
And

so we're already planning the next one. So if you have any ideas for us, we were talking about going to Fredericksburg

Alex (10:30)
Yeah, was

like Frederick Bird seems like it was the number one out of all of our options so

Leesha (10:35)
Yeah,

but more on the Airbnb. And

one of our little talking points is fun or weird things about the place. So it is really weird to me to walk on floors that aren't concrete foundations anymore. So that one was on post and beam. And it had a basement. And then everyone was like, well, how do you get to, where's the door for the basement? there was a couple of locked doors. And then...

Alex (10:42)
So it's really weird for me to walk on concrete like that.

It had a basement. We found

it the next morning. Yeah.

Leesha (11:01)
Yeah, it was

because it was dark outside when we got there, but outside there was steps to go down and Logan was like obsessed with the steps and Delilah was like, no.

Alex (11:07)
Yeah, I don't know. I was

like, this is a murder house. She was totally like, she does not like the idea of basements. I thought it was really funny. And you know, this style of house actually is really common where we're from in Washington, with basements or at least a floating style. Yeah. Yeah.

Leesha (11:13)
She was not for it.

you

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Yeah, not a solid foundation.

but that was good. And then there was a little bit of history right up in there and they were talking about how basically brothers, I think built the couple houses that were right there and then how they, these Airbnb hosts had owned a couple of them right there. And I don't know, it was just really neat.

Alex (11:34)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

It was, I

always like old houses. So as soon as I heard it was like 1930s, it's like, love this house, even though it's cold. was a lot of light. Yeah, we had to close the curtains and stuff. Yeah.

Leesha (11:49)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. you could tell where it was added on, but there were so many windows. And that's partially why it was so cold when we got there, and that it just took a bit to get it heated up, the curtains. Yeah.

Okay, so let's talk about what we did. I might have to pull up my pictures on my phone just to like, I know, because we literally packed in so much stuff.

Alex (12:08)
to remember what the heck we did. It's all a blur. We really

did. Well, we started day one off with going to a coffee shop. Of course. Yes, you are. And that's why I was like, I know what we did. And it was really good. Comment grounds. Yeah.

Leesha (12:17)
I'm wearing the shirt today. The common grounds. Common, what is it? Yeah. Common grounds.

Yeah, it was really good. It was super cute little building too. And I think they had multiple locations in Waco, but that one I think was pretty new.

Alex (12:27)
Mm-hmm. Yeah, Yeah,

I just loved it. had like this retro diner vibe, and I just was in love with that. And the color scheme they had going on, it was like this green and this orange and cream colors. And while that sounds kind of ugly when I say it, it worked really well.

Leesha (12:44)
Yeah, it did.

They did a really good job. but yeah, it was really good.

Alex (12:50)
The coffee was good they had a little play area it was so cute those good first stop. my gosh. Yeah, I didn't know that's what you were getting because usually will like try each others if we're getting something new at a different place but we both ordered the same thing because I didn't hear your order.

Leesha (12:53)
Yeah, except the only weird, I guess, thing about that was we all got the same coffee and we didn't know it. We couldn't even like try different coffees. We all got like the cinnamon caramel coffee.

Yeah.

Yeah, and that. then

I don't remember if Delilah got anything. My mom got a chai thing, I think, but I don't really like chai, so.

Alex (13:19)
Oh, hers

was good. It was good. It was sweet. Um, I got a hot chocolate and then Logan got a white hot chocolate, which she loved. Yeah. And then we all dropped it. Yes, the barista had to like chase me out to give me the hot chocolate because we left. I was like, oh, we're done. And then she was like, wait, and I'm like, oh my gosh, I totally forgot the stinking hot chocolate. Logan was like, wait, where's my drink?

Leesha (13:25)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then we almost forgot it. They were a little bit slow.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No.

Yeah, it, uh, that was good. And then we headed over to the Magnolia whole square, um, and went to the bakery, um, and got, I don't know.

Alex (13:48)
Mm-hmm.

Oh, I got

that like, I forget what it was called. It was like a scone almost, but it was pigs and something. was, yeah, it was so good.

Leesha (13:59)
Oh, like a savory one? It was good.

We had a couple of cookies, different cookies, a cupcake, I got the cinnamon roll, think, and it was really good. It all, yeah, it all was like really good there at the Magnolia bakery. And then we just went, I think we were at the Magnolia area for like two, two and a half hours.

Alex (14:09)
Yeah, that was good. It was big too. It lasted us two days.

Yeah.

A little while,

there's quite a few little shops in there to pop in and browse. We had lunch there too, because they have like the little food truck pavilion area. What did you guys have? I forget. was some kind of like chicken bowl things. Yeah, he was handing out samples and the chicken was amazing tasty.

Leesha (14:25)
Mm-hmm.

area yeah we had the bowls yeah i don't even remember like an asian-y kind of food

It was really,

really good. And he actually was super funny because we were talking to him and then Alex and Logan went to the bathroom and then he was like, well, how old are the kids? And we were like, well, know, Delilah is 11 and, then Logan, the other one is five. And he goes, well, how about the other one? He was talking about Alex and we, my mom was, we just, we were like, well that's her mom.

Alex (14:50)
and

He was talking about me guys.

Leesha (15:06)
And I was like, and this is my mom over here and he was like, wait, just, he like, wasn't even embarrassed. He was just like blown away, like about the whole situation. And then my mom was like, she's 14.

Alex (15:09)
You

Thank you.

I'm just a teenage mom, guys.

Leesha (15:20)
So then he

gave the girls suckers. but it was so funny, but they were so nice. The people running that truck were so nice. think Nat got a sandwich, a hot sandwich at the Italian place and then, Oh yeah. She, the, which was like perfectly, um, topped with the mustard and ketchup. It was so pretty. And then she ate it like scarfed the whole thing. Yeah.

Alex (15:24)
They were.

did you? Yeah. And then Logan got a hot dog at the hot dog stand. It was so yeah, like professional looking. Yeah. It was pretty much the only meal she ate the whole trip

because she was just so overly excited that she just like could not eat basically, but that hot dog inhaled it. I was a little worried she wasn't chewing it enough.

Leesha (15:49)
Yeah. Yeah.

And then think Delilah got some lemonade that girl if she sees any Inkling of lemonade. She's getting it. Yes. They got a bucket of lemonade I did I got the mom and I got tea and then it took me two days to drink it because it was the two like the huge jar and it was cold and I didn't like it was just kind of it was just cold and I didn't want cold tea, but She wanted two cups and so I was like, okay, you know, so

Alex (16:01)
Yeah, they shared that lemonade bucket.

You had a mason jar of tea.

It's so big. Yeah.

because it was cold outside. Yeah,

I was like, they were like, oh, Alex, go get a tea because I wanted the jar. I was like, no, I can't. It's too cold. And I want to carry it around.

Leesha (16:26)
Yeah.

Yeah, it was so cold.

Yeah. So we did all the little shops and then we went into the home store and then we hung up on the fire for a while.

Alex (16:40)
We did,

and then we walked over to the Dr. Museum.

Leesha (16:45)
yeah, that was pretty cool. Lots and lots to read and it was pretty, that was busy. Magnolia area was not. The Dr. Pepper Museum, I don't know if it was just the way it was laid out, but you know.

Alex (16:50)
That was really busy. It could have also

been because it was so cold and it was like an indoor thing mostly. but that was kind of fun to see all the like old school, like bottles and like the historical building aspects of it and like the history of it and how they have the well there that they originally were pulling the water from because it's like a bubbly water naturally. It was crazy. Yeah.

Leesha (16:59)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah about all the bubbly springs

that are all over. Yeah that was cool and it was three stories.

Alex (17:24)
Yes, it was three stories and then it has a second building with the train in it and stuff the little trip model train

Leesha (17:31)
yeah,

yeah, where they do the soda, like you can build your own soda kind of thing. And then the tasting. Yeah, over there. And then the bottling of whatever other drink they had in that building.

Alex (17:35)
Yeah, they have like the food, so the science and the tasting.

I will say,

I bought the blackberry one, the singular blackberry, Dr. Pepper and a strawberries and cream one. I haven't tried the blackberry one yet. No, I'm going to get off. but we did do the strawberries and cream one and it was actually really good. Yeah.

Leesha (17:51)
You still have it?

Do like it? Yeah,

Dr. Pepper's actually, it's not even never on my radar to drink.

Alex (18:03)
Yeah, the only

reason I like think about it, because it's just not a choice I usually would make because I don't drink soda really anyways, is because my cousin's obsessed with it. So got him a couple things to go home to him. Yeah.

Leesha (18:08)
Mm-mm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. There. Yeah. But the murals on the wall there and like the

old, the more distressed Dr. Pepper sign was super cool. Really good photo ops there.

Alex (18:23)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

which I taught Leisha a cool little camera hack. It was so handy. Yeah. I had happened to see a few months ago a

Leesha (18:28)
my gosh. Yeah. Literally I, we need to take content of that because I've never seen anyone do that. And we were watching other people struggle and we were like, ha ha. Like Alex is brilliant over here.

Alex (18:48)
other person was like, if you never have like a tripod or whatever, which I don't carry a tripod around with me unless we know we're going to take content or something, you know, and our tripods suck, honestly, like they tip. but it was like, just, you know, everybody has a hair tie and yes, we all were girls and have a hair tie. So you just like wrap a hair tie around your phone and like a bar of some kind and bam, you got to stand. It did.

Leesha (19:11)
Yeah It worked so good. I was shocked. I think

even the red the hair tie you used was like a stretched out one and it still worked Crazy yeah Yeah Where do we go after that I think we went back I think Delilah was kind of done The park yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah the suspension bridge we walked across there and they went down and up onto that like pillar thing

Alex (19:18)
Yeah, it was, it was, I was a little worried it wasn't going to hold because it was very stretched out.

no, didn't we do the, we did the bridge. Yeah.

Yeah, it was like a lookout.

Leesha (19:39)
Must have been like the old

bridge pillar that they turned into the lookout

Alex (19:42)
Maybe and then they put like a yeah,

so that was kind of cool because it has like the big statues in the front of the the What are those called longhorn cows long yeah, like what are their names? Yeah

Leesha (19:48)
Yeah. It was like a whole artsy area, really. yeah. Yeah. I think that whole area is pretty new. Like they got done like it's recent, but yeah, that was

really cool. And then we went down the road to the park that has all the, by the zoo, which we wanted to go to the zoo, but it was too cold. Yeah. Wait. Yeah. It was like 11 or 12 and we already halfway home.

Alex (20:05)
It was super cold. And then by the last day Sunday, they didn't open until like really late.

Yeah.

Leesha (20:17)
But that park was super cool and it's all like, I don't know, it was really cool. The girls were having fun and then Delilah was done. And so then we went back for a little bit. And then we went, this is all in the same day, by the way. oh yeah. Late.

Alex (20:18)
super cool. It really cool. The girls were kind of like...

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like we jam packed our Saturday because we arrived Friday night late

and we went to the store obviously and stuff. And then we kind of went to bed basically after that. And then so Saturday is when we really did everything.

Leesha (20:38)
Yeah Yeah Yeah,

so we took a break at home for I don't even know maybe an hour and then we went out oh My god, yeah, so we did we ended up going to Walmart because we were gonna do a fire But then it rained and then we did the we got puzzles to do and that stinking puzzle Yeah, and then the trades we oh, okay. That was actually fun. The girls had a blast with those

Alex (20:48)
Yeah. Well enough time to do a puzzle that was. Yeah. And charades. They really

love the charades. So if you're looking for like a family friendly, easy thing, you can even just make this yourself with paper though. but even my five year old was able to do it because they have pictures with them.

Leesha (21:12)
yeah, totally.

Alex (21:16)
and it's like kids charades, think is what it's called. They had so much fun doing that. And we adults were able to do it too and stuff, but it was just so funny how into it they got.

Leesha (21:17)
Yeah, it's literally what it's called. Yeah. Oh

yeah, they absolutely loved it. That is like a perfect game to bring with you if you're going to stay at a hotel on a trip and like anywhere. Oh, forever. Yeah. Yeah, they had so much fun with that.

Alex (21:33)
Mm-hmm. It occupied them and they would like they left it and they would like come back to it like they just kept coming back to it so it was really good. But

we did get this pain in the butt puzzle.

Leesha (21:44)
The puzzle I was trying so hard for any different puzzle than that one and then Logan was like, nope, this is the one I want. And I was like, can you guys just tell her, no, we need a different puzzle. so this is the one she wants. And I was like, you literally could pick any other one, but that one.

Alex (21:51)
I know. It's like all... I did say no. I was like, no, I don't think that one. Your mom's like, well, this is the one she wants.

I was

like, no.

Leesha (22:05)
So then I get we get back and so I get it all out and I'm like, this is a nightmare. And then Alex comes to sit down and do it. And I'm like, this is she's like, this is a nightmare. And I'm like, I know it took us forever. I guess we were we had to have been there like two hours then.

Alex (22:14)
It took us a

while even with it so we had three people working on the puzzles me, Leisha and your mom Which your mom for a little while was like I don't even know what's happening because it was all it's all like textured and very similar colors and it's these gnomes

Leesha (22:22)
huh.

Yeah. Did

we even get a picture of it? I don't even think we got a picture of it. Yeah, it was something else. You have to take a picture of it. It was just crazy. But then we headed out and we, Delilah had found a like cafeteria style.

Alex (22:36)
my God, I don't think we did. I was like, thank goodness we're done and walked away. I have the box at home though. I could take a picture of it. Yeah.

What is

the food hall is yeah Yeah, they had a ton of stuff there and it's really cool Logan got burgers Which was cool you build your own mac and cheese, oh I didn't see the grilled cheese

Leesha (22:56)
Food hall. Yeah. Like a food hall. was like, what's the word for that? a food hall place. And so we went there for dinner and we kind of got to pick whatever. they did, we did a couple laps around to see what we wanted. then Delilah got the mac and cheese bar thing or grilled cheese sandwich. Yes. You

could do mac and cheese bowl or a grilled cheese sandwich and do it like whatever you she's been asking. She's like, can we go back there? And I was like, well, I don't.

I mean, I guess I could check the food halls here and see if they have a place like that, but it was a really cool concept.

Alex (23:28)
See if they have something similar yeah That is really cool. I know I was surprised Logan didn't want that she wanted the burger, but then she didn't eat it so I Got ramen because I'm obsessed with ramen and it was really good

Leesha (23:35)
She didn't eat any of it.

Yeah, I

know. I really should have gotten that. Mom got that too. Nat and I got the Mexican place and one of the taco like Mexican places and we just shouldn't have. It was just not a good experience and the food really wasn't that good. yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know. We should have. I should have picked something else, but.

Alex (23:44)
Yeah.

It was the wrong one. I chose not to get Mexican food because we have so much of it in San Antonio and it's like, have pretty good Mexican food here. And so I was like, I'm not going to get Mexican food here.

Leesha (24:07)
well, it was still fun. The place was super cool and it was packed. It was very popular place. think it was the downtown, like the downtown strip of where everything was.

Alex (24:10)
It was really cool. And it's in like a kind of cool area too with lots of older buildings. Yeah. Yeah. We got to walk by

a wedding rehearsal. Yes. It was really weird. Yeah. Or anything. Yeah. It was literally like watching zoo animals because you just

Leesha (24:21)
that were out like zoo animals, like through like a exhibit because the windows of this event space, it was dark and it was very bright in there and the windows were not tinted or frosted. So they literally were just on display.

It was really awkward to

even walk by.

Alex (24:39)
We're walking by and

they're like, there's the bride. there's the groom and watching these people eat and stuff. And I was like, I don't love that, but maybe that's what they wanted.

Leesha (24:43)
It was so weird. Yeah.

The place

literally could have put a strip, even just one single strip of frosted glass to make it a little bit more private. It was pretty in there. I just think they should do something with those windows. They literally was just like one solid open window down the whole block. It wasn't just one window. It was the whole block.

Alex (24:52)
or curtains. Yeah, literally anything. But yeah, it was interesting to make it more private. Yeah.

Yeah, it was really weird. Yeah, it was, it's a huge building and it was, they had a lot of guests. So yeah, we had

to walk the whole length of it with watching them and feel awkward. But from there, we walked over to this circling back, this picture in our Airbnb. They had a bunch of pictures of like areas around Waco, like of different, I don't know, not necessarily touristy, but just like cool spaces.

Leesha (25:15)
Yeah.

No, was just like pictures.

Alex (25:32)
Um, and I was like, look at this door. Where is this? This door looks so cool. It was this like green half circle long. I don't even know how to explain it door. It was kind of like, I don't know. I don't know. It was really cool. So I was like, we should find this door. And so I found it through Google and a couple of like Reddit forums is how I found it. And, uh, it is, turns out to be a door. It's like, honestly an antique door too.

Leesha (25:34)
This door looks so close. It's like rain, cats are full.

I don't know how explain it.

As you can we have a story.

It was really cool. Apartments or lofts or something. Yeah. Yeah. Because there was, when we walked up, I was like, okay, here's your door. And then a guy like went in and I was like, it's like a door that's used. And then people were coming down the stairs and I was like, Alex, I don't know how you're going to get your picture. And then those people just stayed in the courtyard. And I was like,

Alex (26:00)
So I'm really surprised it's being used this way. It's the door to those apartments or whatever condos. lofts. That's what they're called. Yeah. And that's how you get into their courtyard area.

Being used, yeah.

Yeah.

Leesha (26:27)
Okay, we better just get a picture and then get out of here. And it was kind of dark too. It was really cool.

Alex (26:29)
Yeah, I got my picture. The door is really cool. But I was just really surprised they would use like an antique door like that as like a very frequently used door. Yeah, it's a big door. The Waco theater.

Leesha (26:38)
yeah, and the whole thing kind of rattled like and it's huge like the whole thing is like big it was right next door to a theater too. There's people going into the theater But yeah, so from there from there Alex was looking

at her map and she was like, What is this? have saved on my map and it was this bookstore that you've been wanting to go to So we had to go and figure out how to get there way goes full of one-way streets and so you have to like do a lot of

Alex (26:55)
And she was like, oh, what is it on a page on the page? And it was in a bookstore. It was really cool bookstore.

Mm-hmm.

Leesha (27:06)
doubling back, especially if you miss a turn. And then they tried to make me go the wrong way to go into the parking lot. It was like kiddie corner from where we were. And I was like, no. So then we had, was just like crazy, but we made it to the bookstore.

Alex (27:07)
Yeah.

We made it. I kind of wish we it

wasn't so late so we could have tried their coffee. I mean, I we could have got a decaf, but it's not the same. So but they have like a little coffee shop in there and the bookstore is huge and they have like this dedicated little cute kid area with all the kid books that like surround the walls and like a little couch and like costumes and stuff was so cute. Yeah, they did story time there.

Leesha (27:22)
Yeah. Yeah.

It was.

They did story time too, like on Wednesdays or something.

Alex (27:41)
It was just a really cute bookshop. would totally go back if it wasn't William

Waco. I guess I'll have go back to Waco.

Leesha (27:47)
Yeah,

well, we can talk about that too. The bookstore was really cool and her and Nat were like They were but they also were like, yeah This is a good book like eyeballing me because they want me to start reading so we can do a book clubs And I was like, I don't read

Alex (27:51)
and Earth and the Cat were They were. also were like, oh yeah, this is a good club. I I know what you mean, because they want me to tell you to do a book club. Yes, I've been trying to sell her on it. I've

been like, Leisha, come on, we could just start a book club and it can take, you know, however long it needs to take to read the book, you know? I mean, I'll be done in two days, but... Yeah, we were just trying to...

Leesha (28:12)
Yeah, yeah, it was funny.

So I've been thinking about it and then I did ask you for recommendations and then I got as far as downloading them. Yeah. Yeah. So I have some downloaded, but I literally have not even opened. I downloaded them. That was it.

Alex (28:19)
Mm-hmm. Okay, well that's step one. Yay! Step one!

I know I tried to, I was like, okay, let me think

of some that would like really get you maybe into it, like some easy, like light reads, you know? So that's kind of what I recommended to you. I'm not going to give you anything beyond that right now, cause I'm trying to sell you on the idea.

Leesha (28:35)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. So

I don't know. Maybe we're going to start a book club eventually. Okay. So our next section is what we loved verse what in like, not verse, but like in what we'd skip. I guess it is a verse. It's what we loved or what we'd skip. We loved everything we did. I don't think I would skip the Mexican place.

Alex (28:47)
Yeah.

Mm-mm.

Yeah, the Mexican food. I know when I

saw this one on the outline, was like, well, we know it was the Mexican food. I don't, the only thing that I wish we had then was kind of the zoo because it seems so cool.

Leesha (29:05)
Alright.

If

it was warmer, we could have done a lot more at that park we went to because there was a lot of cool like trails and things that we could have done, but it was just we were cold and we had coats and everything we could have, but like the girls were tired at that point. So yeah. And there was another store that the barista at Commonwealth told us to go to. We didn't make it to that either because they closed early. A market boutique mall, I think.

Alex (29:15)
Yeah.

Yeah.

And they didn't wear their jackets or anything either.

Yeah, it was like a market. It was kind of like, yeah.

Yeah. There was a couple of things we didn't get to do that we would have liked to do, but you know, we only had one whole day basically to get done.

Leesha (29:39)
We didn't make it to that either.

Yeah.

Yeah. And then Sunday, I really

like to be home like early afternoon. So that's kind of what we did was get back by then. But we overall, we had a super great time. I loved it.

Alex (29:52)
Mm-hmm.

I mean, we are already planning

another trip that tells you it was a success, right?

Leesha (30:03)
Yeah, totally. I mean, and you were already talking about taking your parents back at some point. It was really, really neat. I almost think you could do two days there is the only like two, two more of like, I think two days there.

Alex (30:06)
Yeah, I really think they would enjoy it there. It was really cool.

Yeah.

Yeah, at least two whole days. I think then we could have like hit more of the things that we wanted to do. And obviously

if it wasn't so cold, it would have been a little bit easier too. It was just that cold front snuck up on us. And I was like, man, is this right over our weekend? So yeah, we would redo it. Totally. Yeah.

Leesha (30:27)
Yeah.

Yeah, it was cold. So I don't know. Yeah, I totally would. And

we'll plan another one probably maybe, maybe this year, maybe around the same time as we did this, maybe like one a year. I don't know. It depends on.

Alex (30:45)
I don't know. It's

gonna depend. especially if Nat wants to do them, then you know how she's feeling with the baby and everything. I left my kids once, now I'm ready to just leave them all the time. I'm just kidding. Yeah.

Leesha (30:51)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, no, now your next step is going and doing just you and Cody. Yeah. Because Jesse

and I were doing that every year until COVID and now we have finally booked another trip. Well, we have two years ago, I think we went up to Wichita, but we're going to Boston in May and I'm super, super excited. Just the two of us.

Alex (31:08)
But we're going to it.

Yeah, we need to do Austin because I didn't get to see the bats and stuff because the girls can't stay up that late. They just weren't. It was too late. Though Logan did stay up till midnight in Waco for two nights in a row. Yeah, was way more fun.

Leesha (31:20)
I was too late.

And Waco. Well, it's cause it was just the girls.

but yeah, super fun. So that's what Alex I'm working up to reading and Alex is going to work up to you going on a little getaway with just her husband. so if you have any ideas for us in where we should take our next girls trip, let us know. other than that, I think this is it. You have any questions about Waco or questions about finding an Airbnb or

Alex (31:35)
Yeah.

Leesha (31:55)
Going on a girl's trip, let us know.

Alex (31:57)
Yeah, or how to wing it as Leisha likes to say and not overplaying your day but still have, you know, a general idea of what's around you.

Leesha (32:00)
Yeah. Have a plan. Yeah. Flexibility. I am like,

I just, yeah, it's just a really great way to not have such a big expectation when you leave. And that's part of the reason why it's so relaxing, I guess. And like, you can just unwind is because you don't put too much into it. Yeah.

Alex (32:12)
application.

Not as much of a night tennery.

But Leisha and I love to give ideas to people. So message us on here or DM us on our Instagram and let us know what you guys are planning for your next trip. And we would love to talk about it with you.

Leesha (32:34)
and if you would like to do that.
