Hello everyone and welcome back to the podcast. This is actually take two for our intro and this is giving you a little snippet of how crazy this specific day is and how crazy the week is. Um, yeah, we started this whole episode. Luckily, we were only like three minutes into it and my microphone was muted. you know. Yeah, have our little tips and tricks we try to use and today it has everyone has just failed us My camera is not working today. I had to try to switch computers So if any of you are thinking you want to start a podcast um There's tech problems and we've talked about this before but man Often I literally just want to pull my hair out But anyways, we are doing a rogue episode today. We haven't done just an all out check in of just what is going on in life and what we're looking forward to that's coming up. ah We were supposed to talk about routines today, but I think that we've hit on that so much and everyone knows that like we don't run off a time schedule, but a routine. But we will talk, we will touch on that because my husband is out of town right now. And I think our routines is what is like holding me together. you, yeah. uh Yeah, you, uh last week before your husband left, we talked about how you were like, I'm not even gonna do dinner. You were like, I'm gonna let the kids have like free reign. How's that going? Yeah, so you know what's really funny is he doesn't have reception where he is. He's out in Colorado in the mountains. And he messaged me yesterday because they were moving spots. So he had a service for a minute. And he was like, how's your chicken nugget and macaroni dinners going? And I said, have, you know that I actually did make chicken burgers one night. And we did. breakfast for dinner one night and like batch out pancakes for the week because we love doing that. ah And last night we had a Kevin's meal so that was good and tonight is tacos. So we are eating real food. It's fine. We're taking care of ourselves over here. ah Barely, but we're doing it. Yeah, we are day four into, I don't know, he's gonna be gone like 12 days. So I think we're still a week with him gone and I'm not. thriving if I didn't say that because I know that I said that in the other recording that didn't record. yeah, definitely our routines and just knowing how we kind of structure our day has been helping. But we have some other really cool things that have been going on. So we just want to talk about that stuff today. Yeah, well, we just wrapped up a giveaway, so that was kind of cool. when we got asked to do it we were so excited we We felt really cool. Yeah, we were just like for days We were like riding this high and then we got like a couple people that pitched us to be on the podcast which You guys have to remember that we just do this for hobby. So all of this stuff just feels so cool when it pops up. And so we just have, we just have fun. We're just having fun and it's just. Yeah, for pretty much that whole week, it all happened in the same week that we got asked to collaborate with this giveaway and um also doing a promo code and stuff with them. Then we also got pitched for somebody to come onto our podcast. Yeah, we've gotten a couple. one was just an Instagram DM and it was a little bit more unique than our email ones, because we get ones in the email all the time. yeah. be kind of like spammy. And then what else? There was something else cool that happened. Oh yeah. that was one of our best performing reels that we've had for a while. And it was literally, we did it in one take and we set off with car alarm while we did it, which those are the backs, like behind the scenes you don't see. yeah, we locked ourselves in the car because it was hot and I started my car from the app and then the car was really mad when we tried to the door. and Leisha just like ran. scared my stepdad because he didn't know we were in there and he had just gotten home and I don't think I've seen him jump quite like that before. He's like, why are you running? Is something bad happening? I'm running and like I don't run but I didn't want the car alarm to be like honking forever. So it was hilarious was like panicked, pushing the button, trying to get it to turn off, and it was just making it worse. Yeah, so we did that. what else alex just turned 30 like a month and a half ago and Oh, wait. No, we're in october two months ago, I guess and then my brother her husband just turned 30 so they're in their 30s and We had a girls night last weekend Yeah, we did. That was really fun. We did like a fall spooky girls night and everybody brought their own charcuterie boards. Yes, we had a board night, like bring your board. It was so fun. So I did like an Asian inspired one. I did the HB sushi, egg rolls, dumpling, wonton things. And what else? We had a dip board with vegetables and breads and hummus and ranch and stuff. did a caramel apple board and so I did the apple, the caramel and then like a bunch of like stuff to put on top. Yeah, and then there was a s'mores board and then a Chick-fil-A board. So it was so much fun. And then we made some yarn craft things, know, Pinterest things, because where else are you going to get your ideas? For reals. I know we were all like, Leisha, please send us the complete board so we can look at it and decide. uh But yeah, we had so much fun. We started earlier in the day so we didn't have to go too late and I think it was perfect. I encourage any of you, like, if you just need something and you don't want it to have to cost a lot or you don't want to have to go leave your house or you know, there's not to be like a big deal to like have to go out and do something. Just have a girls night. Even if you don't have a craft or something, just like bring a few snacks. It was so fun. then you just talk. I feel like we did more talking than crafting anyway. I think we were laughing so much too. But yeah, I definitely encourage everybody to do that. I'm sure we've said before, but I used to do the girls' nights all the time, about quarterly. And then when I moved here, things were just a little bit different. You gotta kind of find your people again. And I think I had a good group of friends now. It was so fun. fun. We already are telling her she needs to do like a, what did we say? December or late November? I they were trying to figure out who was gonna host. The thing is, when we lived in Washington, Jesse would go and do his guys' hunting trips, and so I would have the house. This was literally the first time in five years we've lived here that he's left, and I had the house, and so I immediately was like, I'm doing girls' night. So it was just really funny how that happened. uh But... What else has been going on? I had a whole list of things. I texted you and I was like, we're going to do this rogue podcast episode and just talk about all the things. and we talk about like all the like back work of that but we do talk about routines like all the time so now we're just kind of like doing a little catch-up. um We, you should tell Jamison this morning just so you know just in case you ever get these. Yeah, so Jameson, my son, is in third grade and he's got a lot of energy. He's a boy, he has a lot of energy and Delilah, they both have some ADHD. I think I've kind of just come to the conclusion that they do. Delilah has, she's been seen for it so I know that she has ADHD and some executive functioning. lacking in that area, I guess. I don't wanna say disability, it's not disabled. Like, she's fine. for sure, and just prioritizing things in general. And all of her stuff started about third grade, so now Jameson enters third grade, and it's a little bit more like he's getting in trouble a little bit, and he can't focus, and he has to move, and luckily we've had really great teachers that have been able to handle him. All that to say. Started them on some omegas because omegas helped the brain which helps calm down the ADHD and then Saffron also does so I got him um from Joy genius, I think is the brand I Don't know what the brand is anyways. They're called mood munchies if you look on Amazon You'll find them, but there's gummies, and then there's also like this powder stuff. That's kind like a pixie stick But it was a lot of powder and I had to order those this time because the gummies were out of stock. So this morning, and he takes the gummies. We've gone through whole bag. He really likes them. I call him his brain gummies and he's good to go. It's the only one he has to take in the morning. don't make him take a bunch of, he takes all his other stuff, his vitamins and stuff at night. Yeah, I make Logan do all hers at night too, because I'm like, it's just a lot in the morning. Yeah. So we try these pixie stick style mood boosting, you know, brain helping things. if you aren't familiar with what a pixie stick is, it's just a tube filled with flavored sugar. Yeah. So I give him the thing and he's like putting a little bit in his mouth at a time and it just says you just put it in your mouth. it's in it, it's like in a packet as big as like a electrolyte packet. You know, it's like a lot of powder. And it said you just dump the powder in your mouth and you let it melt. That's like more than a Pixie stick. Yeah, well, so he's had a little bit of a cough and so he put some in his mouth and he did it like four or five times and just a little bit and I'm like, dude, you just need to like put it in your mouth and let it and he's and he's like, it's really good. You know, he's like, it tastes like fruit punch and I'm like, okay, great. I'm like, we gotta go like the best. We gotta get to the best. And so he finally like he kind of like coughs on one of them and I'm like, well, you gotta make sure that you don't like inhale it's going down the wrong tube. You gotta be careful, you know. I was kind of making it funny and then he put more and he ends up He ends up like choking not really choking, but you don't even hail something that like, you know, like gets ya so then he starts like spitting gagging it up and then it ends up spitting a bunch of He coughed though, too. So it was like this whole combination and I I'm surprised he didn't have powder just... So moral of the story, next time put it in some shallow water like a shot glass. Yeah. do water and melt it first because he can't I don't even know if I'll get him to take them again Honestly, but then I had to message his teacher. He wouldn't he wouldn't get out of the car at the bus He was well, he would he wasn't super. He was just a little just It was it totally was and so I'm like, okay, dude you know his friends are waiting outside the car door for him to get out the bus stop and I'm like rolled down the window and I'm like you guys he'll be out in a minute and So they message his teacher and I'm like Jameson kind of like gagged on his vitamins this morning and it just upset him, but he's fine. He's alive and going to school. And I'm sure the teachers are like your kid threw up and you sent him to school and I'm like well No, that's not really what happened to be honest He did it was fine. He just was like coughing and you know it was fine So anyway that was the start to my morning, so it was and then poor Delilah I'm not not poor Delilah because whatever but she's like What happened this morning? She's like all I heard was James in and he was leaning over the garbage can he really didn't throw up you guys he just really just like it got like stuck and he just like spat up a bunch, but my gosh, so that was that was a real fun um But yeah, so okay. Let's see um What should we check in on the skylight we can check in on the skylight I totally have not gotten the membership. I can't believe you haven't done that. I, Jessie and I love, love, love the AI meal planning like feature thing. It's so cool. I still, what are we at? We're, I got it for Christmas. We're almost a whole year in. Okay. six months in I think Yeah, well I'm still totally loving it. They recently added a countdown feature and so like we were able to put in like countdown to my husband's hunting trip uh and then Halloween and then oh we're traveling for Thanksgiving so we're supposed to talk about that today again. uh So all those things. do countdowns on my phones all the time. So when they said they put the countdown on there, I was like, well, now I have to get a membership because Logan likes to have the countdown for like when she goes to a sleepover or when somebody's coming in from out of town. So we use countdowns all the time. It's it is really cool And the meal planning feature is awesome, and I love getting to add the pictures I love looking at all I kind I kind of only upload stuff that The things that we go do so if it's like even in local stuff the zoo or just cute pictures and stuff I mean obviously what else would you put on there that was a dumb statement? But I just I love it will say though, if you don't, if you're like in a skylight, they do have a skylight picture frame and I got that for my mom for Christmas last year and it is like the best gift you can give somebody, especially if they aren't like close by because you can just upload photos for them. So my mom always just is like, oh, I got new photos and goes and watches them because it gives her a little alert like, oh, you have nine new photos. And so they'll just pop up and she can go view them. She loves it. She lives in Washington. So obviously. Yeah. Yeah, well my grandma was just here and she was like, wait, I don't have these pictures. And I was like, yeah, because they're on my skylight. So was like, dang, she needs a skylight. We all can just send pictures to her skylight. She probably would love that. that and I was like, Oh, that would have been a really good gift for her. We could maybe something for us to think about during this next holiday season, we'll be splitting it or something. Cause yeah, she would definitely like that. um Okay, so next thing is my Nespresso because I just took a drink of my coffee and I'm still literally obsessed But Alex also got an espresso machine for her birthday Yeah, I got that Phillips one and it does everything for you. I literally just touch the button and it makes my coffee completely with milk. Yeah, so you put the beans in it and the bean area is all sealed. So it's really quiet too. It's like really quiet and it grinds the beans for you. And then it does the special shots for you and you can like. It's so adjustable, like you can make it be like a stronger espresso shot, a bigger espresso shot, a smaller espresso shot, like all the things. uh And then it does a fresh grind for each shot. So it will like load it and then it dumps it and then it loads it again. then so like, you know, you're getting a strong shot. uh And then it has the milk carafe and it can do, you can either just get like hot milk or you can do it like a cappuccino style froth or a latte froth. because it's got like latte, uh it's got a latte macchiato, a cappuccino, an iced coffee, and then just plain espresso shots, and then plain brewed coffee. I think that's all of them. I haven't used all of them because I just, you know, I like my coffee how I like my coffee. So either I'm just getting espresso shots from it or I'm getting a latte macchiato from it. It's really cool. It literally is so fast too. And I just set my cup there and walk. Logan can make your coffees now. m my coffee. Yeah, they love it. They think it's so cool to touch the buttons and watch them make coffee and stuff. That's so funny. Yeah, my Nespresso. I just found out like a couple weeks ago that I Can get the cafe or the coffee pods. I think they're called cafe pods um They'll do like an 8 ounce cup of coffee if I double click the button It will give me a double shot, which is what I usually buy and So this last time I bought just like a variety pack of the cafe pods. That's what I have in mind right now um But yeah, love my Nespresso. I literally don't want to go to Starbucks anymore. Like, get coffee. Because I just like my coffee at home. I know I like my coffee at home too. I actually did go to Starbucks and got coffee. Well, I did yesterday because we were at the zoo, but the day before because we were out, I had to pick up a prescription. I was like, I'm going to get coffee because I had a headache because I hadn't had coffee yet. Proof of caffeine problems. And I was like, it's not bad, but my coffee's better. It's like the disclaimer we need to put on getting an espresso machine is like you're gonna be overdosing on caffeine yeah, it's definitely when the coffee comes so easily, it's hard to not drink more, you know, and like, Leisha has her Fridays, infinite coffees days. Literally, coffee doesn't count on Friday. Okay, but it's like something to look forward to. I'm like, it's Friday. I can have like an extra cup of coffee today. It really is. noon, not midnight. Noon is my cutoff and then I'm like it's water from then on basically or some kind of fluid like that. And yeah, I've been so bad lately. I've been like just coffee chug chug, but I haven't we both been so busy and like I just feel like I've been so stretched thin that I need all the coffee. Yeah, yeah, so just just you know the funny thing is like I can't even tell you why But I feel so like frazzled lately about literally everything Yeah you and me, and then I have family coming in and out of town quite often these last couple months. Which, you know, that always throws off the schedule and stuff. And while my mom is great at getting on our schedule, it still changes it. uh And then we had your grandparents came into town and they stayed at your house, yeah. I had, took on, this is new news, which is fun news. I love community and my community's social committee person who puts on all our neighborhood events stepped down a couple years ago. And so then one of our last HOA meetings, they were like, we need someone to fill this role. And I felt like they were speaking to my soul. And so I decided to take it on. I've talked about this long time. So I did it and of course then, you it's like you get bored in life and you're like, what do I need? And I'm like, I need a hobby. And I like tried to do coloring. I know, right? I was like, I tried to like color and I was like, oh, this would be so fun to do this. Thanks. I just love events and community in general. And then of course, business, you know, business was good. And then all of a sudden it, you know. bombs go off in the business. And so then it was like, and then I took on this role. and then I got to put on this event. and I need to find volunteers and blah, blah, blah, like all this stuff. And I'm like, my God, I don't know what I did. I don't know. I don't know, we talked about that for like your business. seems like it's always happening at the same time frame so that it's like everybody is all of sudden needing to like to make huge changes of some kind. And so we talked about doing like an audit for your business and then you could like get ahead of it, you know, and be like, hey, we're approaching this time. This is typical for my clients to be needing like X, Y, Z. Let's have like a like get together. Let's like map what you're thinking. know it's been crazy. Yeah, this just the ups and downs of owning the business, but holy moly if everything feel like it always happens like beginning of summer and then like beginning of fall. So there's only like a four month gap between them. it's like, I can handle one thing going wrong, but it's always multiple. Like two, three, four things at a time. Every single time, across the board. And I'm like, thank you. September, how many days are in September? 30? It was long. I don't know these last few months just feel like forever day of September, and I are muck are poloing each other back and forth as we do and we're talking about how September was so chaotic and long and exhausting just felt like it was never ending and we're like, but it's, you know, October tomorrow. Like hopefully like a new month, a refresh, like a switch is flipping or something and we're going to have like a nice reset. And then ask yeah Yeah Is just how many bombs went off that day before noon like it was crazy I was like Pretty much in tears that day just running a business is hard. It really really is hard Yeah. I mean, I personally have not ran a business, but I have been in the background of many businesses and it's, it's hard. I mean, anytime somebody says they want to open a business, I'm like, okay, you need to have like the determination to just like push through. Yep, well the thing that's that's hard for me is I hired moms that work with me and I always feel so bad when Client chain the other clients change the hours, which is totally out of my control Or if I have a plan to do whatever grow or whatever and talk to the team members and I'm like, hey, I'm gonna put you on this to do that. And then all of sudden it's like, bomb, bomb, bomb. And then I'm like, well, that's not happening anymore. But it's literally out of my control. Like I can have plans all I want, but the clients sometimes have other things that they need to do, you know? But then it's like, the staff rolls downhill. And so it's like, stuff. So yeah, I don't know, it's been crazy, but. And then my husband was leaving which that that's just been Just solo parenting is not I mean, okay, so we were talking about this at girls night of like how some Some moms do really good when their husbands are not around and some don't I used to feel that way when my kids were younger and Jessie always worked odd shifts so it was either swing shift from like 2 to 11 p.m. Or overnight which was like 9 to 6 a.m. Or whatever the hours are and I kind of felt like a sole parent because he was sleeping in the off like it was shift and so it just ends up being easier. You kind of just run everything It is what it is. Well now it's been so many years that he's been working days that he's such a like integrated back into our lives, which that sounds really bad but if you if you've lived that shift lifestyle like you'll understand and so now I'm just like no, I just feel like It's a lot to just handle everything by myself. I get it. Cody was second shift for a long time. um like we, we, he, we got pregnant and Cody switched to working at a new job. And that new job was that second shift, which was that what they start, like they start till two until they get back at like 2 a.m. or something like that. Which they always did. Yeah. early morning he worked that shift, which worked out fine for us because Logan did not sleep. I was awake. So I was awake when he got home often. But that means he's gone. He's sleeping in the morning and then he's leaving basically for work. And so it was like, I was a sole parent, like you said. And then when we moved here to Texas, he got first shift, which is like a standard. work day almost and I was like I don't know what you're doing here. I didn't know what to do with having a partner. dinner. Yeah, and home for activities or like whatever. being available during the time when our kids are awake. And then it was like adjusting to having another parent in the household who wants to parent, you know? And I'm like, we're clashing. Yeah. I know. I know. And it's just funny how those different seasons of life get you into those different ways of doing things. sometimes still in like Cody's been on this first shift for like three years now it's been I'm still like I don't know this might be this might have been easier if if you were still on second shift I thought I've been getting more productive stuff done or something, you know so funny. Yeah, but just kind of crazy madness All right, what else so we are? Mid-october now and my family travels to Arizona to Phoenix for Thanksgiving this year I Have a new car that we get to take and we are all so excited because We used to drive my husband's little teeny tiny golf and we all would pack in like a clown car. Yeah, is. The kids were just packed in with all of their stuff. Delilah has grown a lot in the last year. She's just as tall as me. And so it's we've been measuring her and it kind of fluctuates, I think, depending on how she stands. But yeah, she's. She's gonna be taller than me here soon, I'm positive. um The girl's got size 10 shoes, she's just a kid, which is fine. uh But we knew last year that that was gonna be the last time driving his car because her legs are long, she's got very long legs, and she cannot be cooped up in there. It's a 12, 13 hour drive, so it's a lot. But this year, I got. Yeah, the Ford Expedition several months back and we have captain's chairs and there's plenty of room They can recline their seats. They can do whatever they want and I am so excited. I oh My god, it's me so great. We're gonna Know Yeah, wait, it's gonna be so nice and I have been like laughing because I'm like we usually have to like pare down what we pack like we cannot pack anything extra I Can bring everything? I'm bringing my Nespresso machine. are like, you're probably laughing at me, but I literally was like, my God, I don't even know if I can live without it. I'm have to use my grandma's Keurig and I don't even like Keurig coffee. And so I'm so excited, you guys. I was like telling Delilah, I'm like, you're gonna make me coffees in the car. And then my mom was like, maybe you shouldn't do that, cause she's gonna spill it. And I was like, good point. When we stop, I'm going to make myself a coffee because yeah. I'm just like, I'm so excited. We usually are there a week. um And like my car, it's got all the fancy features that like I've never had in a car. So it has the adaptive cruise control and it has lane centering. So it almost drives itself. Yeah. I know I do too. I hate the lane assist. Yeah. I hate my lane assist the way that it works, but when you're on a long drive on i10 and there's literally nothing going on, it's gonna be so nice. um We're also gonna get, you can get those like CarPlay um adapters to play apps on your screen, because I have a pretty big screen. So we're gonna get one of those and we're gonna see if we can get um like a movie or whatever to play on there. Don't judge us. No. um But I'm just so excited. So we'll do that. think um sometimes we drive all the way there and then sometimes we stop. I think we're going to leave on a Friday and then stop like halfway this time. But regardless, my kids love snacks. So some of the stuff that we'll be taking is probably pre-cut up vegetables. And I get little ranch cups, hummus, and then all of their regular snacky foods because I hate stopping. I hate stopping for food. Yeah, we both are big travel preppers. Like, it is the best thing to call us. And we pack like snack packs and we organize it and we bring little activities and games and stuff so that way like there is no need to stop. Like, there's almost never a need. stop for the bathroom. Water bottles, that's always a huge one. We always bring our water bottles and we'll even bring a gallon or whatever of water in the back or whatever size those ones are you can get to refill. And then your new thermos one. Maybe. One of our favorite games that we bring though is the car bingo. that we always bring that. And there's not a ton on i10. It's really like, it's kind of hard to play that game because there's never anything on the roads when the kids want to play it. But it is one of our favorite ones to play. um But I know you and you pack stuff. Your kids are smaller than my kids, so they're pretty content just watching movies. I have to pre-download the movies, which sometimes I forget. my gosh. No, pre-download. a headache. And also check before you leave that they didn't expire. They didn't expire and that they fully downloaded because if you leave mid download it just will cancel Yep, there's been so many times where I forget to check before we leave to go home. Yeah. Yeah, it's terrible. I don't bring the tablets with us very often. I do for airplane rides because they're like my last window of like closing it down if they're gonna lose their minds. But for all the road trips we've done recently, because their max, I think our longest one was like five hours, ah I tend to be able to get away with just like activities. Yeah, for the most part. And snacks, always snacks. Yeah, I'm really, I'm excited for that. And then what else? This might just kind of be a little bit of short episode, but we have some fun people that are going to be still coming on for the next couple of episodes. Season two is going to wrap at December. Yeah, so, yeah, so we have. um Stacey at terrific coming on which you guys I'm sure I've heard us talk about how much we love her kids My gosh her little kids those are you do you pack yours in the car? The mini kits Yeah, just the dough with the little things in it yeah Those ones are great for like on the airplane. I think I took those when we went to Disney last year. um I can't believe that was only last year. It feels like it was longer ago. And uh I think I use them, I've used them for one of our longer road trips, because we were gonna end up at an Airbnb or something. And so I was like, oh, that would work. Yeah, definitely and you know it's so funny is the kids like we've been buying them for a while now The kids literally had them out this last weekend They all were sitting at the counter in my house, and they had to got all the kids out, and they were still playing with them last quite a while. I only recently had to retire a couple of them and that was because they were like two years old maybe at that point and I was like there was no saving. know toddlers are kinda nasty so. you read like revive yours like put more flower or I? Think we had to because ours got sticky, but it totally like they're fine. They still are totally fine your kids aren't nasty, mine always get like hair or something in it and I'm like, okay, it's time. Like that's nasty when you're pulling it apart and it's like snapping hairs. ah So then after that we have our annual holiday challenge that we are working on again oh We've done this every year. I thought maybe we skipped last year, but then I was like, no, we did it. So we've done this every year since the beginning of the launch of Everything, which was Wildlings Unleashed, our original Instagram page. And we just have loved it. It was huge the first year. Like, we were crazy. uh Yeah, we did. We threw it together in like two weeks. I think it was like two weeks. It was crazy. to Yeah, last year we did it more like an email um based, yeah, kind of freebie thing just to kind of follow along. This year I think we're doing a giveaway style again, right? what we discussed is it's gonna kind of be like a combo of the two because we kind of missed doing the giveaway. Like we thought it was so fun. uh So we're going to kind of incorporate our two different versions of it. It's always the same kind of like idea the last few years. So same thing this year. Well, same idea. And but prize. Yeah, prizes this time. We don't know what the prizes are going to be, but or one prize at least. ah It'll be good though, it'll be fun. then, ah obviously we'll do all the freebie stuff in our emails again, I think is what we landed on. Yeah, I think so. But we are super excited about it. We have a ton of fun. We love traditions, and this is just one of those things that I feel like after you do it twice, you're kind of like locked in. I know we were like, should we do it? Should we not? Should we drop it? And we were like, no, we really, really enjoyed it. So we hope that you guys, if you've participated, yeah, that you also loved it and had fun and are looking forward to it. have repeat repeat people last year. So I mean, it must have went over well. A lot of the stuff we share for the freebies for the holiday challenge and stuff are all like our own stuff. Are like that we are our own families do, you know, like the the advent calendar with the activities or the cookies or the movie night. What else? Yeah, we do a snowball fight.
