The sports world can flip from heartbreak to headline-whiplash in about ten minutes, and this week proves it. We start by taking a moment for the losses that hit fans hard, including the passing of racer Kyle Bush and the ripple effect of seeing entire racing leagues honor him at once. We also remember baseball slugger Bob Horner and 1972 Dolphins defender Manny Fernandez, and we talk about what those careers meant beyond the box score.
Then we get into the kind of stories you cannot script: the controversial “Enhanced Games” where athletes can use performance enhancers, Fred Kerley chasing Usain Bolt’s 100m record, and a hot mic incident that put ESPN in the worst possible spotlight. From there we pivot to college softball drama, NHL playoff sweeps, and a stretch of MLB highlights that includes rare home run feats, a long-awaited debut homer, a fan negotiating for a milestone ball, and pitching performances that remind you how thin the line is between dominance and disappointment.
On the NBA side, we react to the Knicks reaching the Finals for the first time since 1999, the Cavs getting swept, and what it says about team identity when the playoffs turn brutal. We also dive into the sports card market after a Victor Wembanyama card sells for $5.11 million, then close with Spurs vs Thunder and the ongoing debate about flopping, free throws, and officiating consistency. Finally, we shift into NFL offseason mode: Derwin James gets paid, Johnny Manziel tries MMA, legal headlines stack up, and Brian Flores’ discrimination case against the NFL takes a meaningful step forward in the public courts.

Welcome And Sponsor Shoutouts
SPEAKER_01May 27th, 2026. Welcome back, everybody, and thank you for joining us once again for another episode of Sports Talk with Us. I'm Brian with an eye, and I'm Mike, and we are two for the Wim. Mike, what's cooking tonight, brother?
SPEAKER_02Hey, football got 99 problems. But I tell you what, in basketball, 99's looking pretty good. Hitting with that historical aspect. And you know, these playoffs provide a little sweep in action, and not just talking about what's going on in the NBA. And as we roll into summer, we gotta get into that baseball vibe, and we got some things from baseball to talk about.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we got a few things. But before we get rolling here, I just want to say thank you to our sponsors and partners here. Starting with Body by D Gym, located in Yorktown and Gloucester. Uh Deshaun's a former bodybuilding champion and training future bodybuilding champions, and they have been doing a charity bag drive for this last few weeks. And I'm sorry I've missed it here. Um, but basically, you can drop off your luggage, bags, totes, anything that can hold things, okay? Don't bring broken things though, okay? It's got to be in good functional order. But you can bring it to anybody by DGM location uh and they will accept it and thank you uh for your donation as well. And this benefits uh the homeless, uh, so it kind of gives them uh something to carry their things around and store the things in with with dignity as well. So very good uh on what you guys and I like what you're doing there. So everybody contribute to that, and it ends on June 1st, although I'm sure they'll take donations beyond that. Um, as well as our good friends Ken and Christian over at Saula's Outfitters and Mid-Atlantic Territory uh Wrestling coming up uh here soon. They have their annual event, Scars and Stripes, coming up on June 13th live from Body by D Gym as well. You can catch it on YouTube or right now TV. And the Jordy Bulldogs ride one last time before they part way. So make sure you catch it. It's gonna be a very special event. They have a special VIP package as well, so it'll be one to remember for the ages. Uh, our good friend Jason Swain over at over at Request Station. His next performance is to be determined, Mike, so we'll keep an eye out for that. But also our friend Brian Morrison, drummer for Poor Vita, they have a show coming up locally here in Virginia Beach at Elevation 27 on June 27th. And they're playing with Vallette, Bear Cross, and I believe one other band. So that'd be interesting, Mike. We should be at that one. That'd be a good one. So thank you again to our sponsors and partners, and uh, we look forward to doing more business with you in the future. Mike, are you ready?
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, I am
Losses Across Racing Baseball Football
SPEAKER_02ready. And let's uh we're kind of opening in a sad note. We got a we got a few things to talk about here, and uh we finally got an update as to what happened with Kyle Bush. Um, for those who may not be in the know, uh Kyle Bush, a very seasoned veteran racer across like all platforms. He wasn't just straight up NASCAR, uh, but just didn't matter. Cars, trucks, he's racing, whatever. Uh he passed away and and it came kind of sudden. I mean, he's he was only 41 years old, so it kind of kind of hits home when somebody that's the same age as you passes away.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this hits home uh pretty well, yes.
SPEAKER_02It it also hits for another factor. I actually got a chance to meet him when I was in boot camp. It was him and Dale Earnhardt and a few other racers that came and actually ate with my boot camp division in while I was in boot camp. So it was kind of cool. It was like a surprise event. None of us knew about it. We were just sitting there and all of a sudden, here comes these NASCAR racers coming in, and then they lifted the no talking in the down dining hall and let us kind of mingle with them and talk and get autographs and stuff, so it was kind of cool. But um we found out that he was dealing with severe pneumonia and sepsis, which is what caused him to go into uh the hospital and he passed away from it. And even even crazier, like he had just won a race the Friday before and in Victory Lane. He said he was celebrating the reporters, like, you know, you're treating this like you know, you you're always so ecstatic when you're in here, you act like it's the first time, and he goes, Well, that's because you never know when it's gonna be your last time.
SPEAKER_01You know, that's pretty eerie. So it's like, dang, really? That's that's eerie, but there's a lot to be said from it as well, a lot to be taken from it.
SPEAKER_02But I gotta give it to all forms of racing. Like, literally every single race across the board. It didn't matter if it was, you know, NASCAR, didn't matter if it was the lower series racing, every single racing affiliate honored him at their like literally, I think it was the NASCAR, like lap 18. They all kind of like did a formation, just kind of slowly went around instead of like doing lapid hell's pace.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, racing hasn't had uh major event such as this since Dale Earnhardt, right? Yeah, well, one that's been one that hits that hits like you know this hard.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, one that's one that's like a big name to this magnitude. I mean, we've had other racers pass away because of car crashes and other stuff, but one that one that kind of happened so suddenly and was like, well, because I remember when Dale Earnhardt passed, I I was watching that race and I seen the crash and I was like I was like, Oh, that didn't seem so bad. Like he'll be alright. Yes. And then you find out he died, and it's like, wait, well, what? What? You know, it just kind of hit you. But uh unfortunately, you know, he passed away. And moving on to another unfortunate passing, uh former brave brave slugger Bob Horner passed away at the age of 68. He won the rookie of the year in 1978 and had a game where he actually hit four home runs in the same game, which was uh which was a really impressive feat. And I I'm pretty sure I have the audio for that. And it was it was really cool because during the time when the Braves were not so hot, I mean, you know, he was one of the big time players. Uh, unfortunately, I don't have that readily available. But get it together, Mike. But spent most of his time with the Braves, but spent one year in Japan and then came back and played for the Cardinals before calling it a career. Uh, but definitely a fan favorite, very well known. And then unfortunately, the 72 Dolphins, the undefeated champions, lost one of their own. Manny Fernandez passed away at the age of 79, uh, was part of that no-name defense and was a key part of that team for that undefeated season. Uh, unfortunately, passed away as well.
SPEAKER_01Yes, uh, all three of these gentlemen will be missed. Uh, our thoughts and prayers go out to their families. Yes, yes. You know, the communities uh affected by their loss, and uh they will be sorely missed, especially uh in the industries that they thrived in.
SPEAKER_02Yes, so yes, and I'm sure I'm sure this next season there'll be some honoring of those of those uh individuals, I mean, for football at least for Manny Fernandez, and and I'm sure the Braves are gonna do something for Bob Horner as well. And yes, and Nashgar, as I said, already did something for for Kyle
Enhanced Games And Sub 10 Sprint
SPEAKER_02Bush. Um, but moving along uh into something we spoke about. We talked about the enhanced games and it snuck up on us. Now, the enhanced games happened this past weekend, and basically this was in a a Olympic style kind of competition.
SPEAKER_01D D championships.
SPEAKER_02Yes, where they called it the enhanced games, where everybody is allowed to take whatever they please. So these are people that athletes that just basically whatever it takes, they'll juice up and do whatever.
SPEAKER_01I want to do this, but I want to compete in chess.
SPEAKER_02You know, they actually have two different forms of chess that are not like normal chess. There's one that's underwater chess where you dive down and you play chess underneath, you know, 20 feet down. And then there's another form where you make a move and then you box for a round, and then you go make a move and then you box for a round.
SPEAKER_01Let me get the boxing one. I don't know about that swimming one. The swimming one sounds like a lot of work.
SPEAKER_02They both sound like a lot of work when you tell me.
SPEAKER_01I mean, at least I can be stupid and box. I can't be stupid and dive and try to figure out how to beat you in chess, okay? It's not a good look to me. Holding my breath and playing chess. Now my whole brain is losing oxygen as I suffocate it.
SPEAKER_02Anyways, so getting back to the enhanced games, there was a kind of a well funny moment if you think about it. Uh so Fred Curly vowed that he was gonna beat Usain Bolt's world record in the 100 meter, and uh Yeah, it didn't work out for him. He did not get it. But I gotta give him some some little bit of applause here because he didn't beat it, but Usain Bolt's record is 9.58 seconds in the 100 meter. And Mr. Fred Curly came in at 9.97. So he's he's in the he's look, he's close, but not close enough. I know this, but for running is kind of a little bit further away. I mean, when you you're when you say you're close, you start talking down to the second digit in decimal points.
SPEAKER_01I don't care if it's an inch or a mile, a win's a win.
SPEAKER_02Either way, he's running a sub-10 second 100 meter. It's pretty dang good.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I mean, I know I could he is pretty damn fast, but either way it wouldn't count because you say Bolt wasn't on drugs, so that we know of.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, we're gonna do that. I don't know what those guys chew down there in Uganda, but no, no. Well, he he's from Jamaica, but Jamaica. But the point, but the point of the matter is when he went to the Olympics, they do drug trials. You cannot get away with doing anything and be in the Olympics. Exactly. So you And most of those running organizations don't put up with it either. Yeah, I agree. And it's talking about something you really shouldn't
ESPN Hot Mic And Softball Crossover
SPEAKER_02put up with. ESPN kind of got a little bit of a black guy uh with their Arizona State, Texas softball game, uh tournament game that happened recently. They had a hot mic incident, and I gotta give it to the broadcaster. He was a he was a real pro.
SPEAKER_01I got a hot mic for you. Sitting right next to you.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know what? He's wearing a 49ers hoodie. You're funny. Uh so unfortunately, in this hot mic incident, uh, I gotta give it to the announcer who was doing the broadcast, and I want to get his name right. As soon as I can find it. Kevin Brown. So Kevin Brown, the play by AI for it. Kevin Brown, the the play-by-playman, was doing the game when a hot mic picked up an unidentified person whispering an obscene comment after the Texas pitcher, Tegan Cavan, uh, got ahead with a 1-0 count, or it says got ahead, but it was a 1-0 count. All right, 1-0 count against the opposing batter, and you could hear a male voice saying something up something derogatory about licking certain anatomies. I'll let you fill in what your brain will. Anyway, so that was kind of a really bad look for ESPN, but what was kind of cool in this game uh we kind of had a little bit of crossover here. We had NBA and softball meeting. And you might ask, how is that possible? In the oddest of ways. And yes. So there was a celebration involving NBA former NBA star Jason Williams and his daughter Mia, which led to Williams being ejected during the Texas Tech game against Florida over this past weekend, where they did win, but Mia hit two home runs to help push her Red Raiders past the Gators and beating her former team. Now, for those of you who didn't know, Mia actually was playing for Florida, and her father had played for Florida when he played college basketball. So when she moved over to Texas Tech, he was fully on board supporting his daughter and said, said, screw you, alma mater. I'm not I'm not doing this. I'm not I'm not supporting you, I'm supporting my girl. Correct move, in my opinion. I think I think so as well. But congratulations to her and her team. They moved on. Texas will now take on the Tennessee Volunteers. Good luck. They're normally a powerhouse in softball. But good luck is correct. Kind of a neat situation.
SPEAKER_01But they're probably city girls that just go to that school.
SPEAKER_02No, I I don't think Jason Williams lives in the country. I think he lives in Florida. The country. Although there are country parts in Florida. Florida is really the only state where the more north you go, the more south it gets.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. The mascots were pretty country. The Red Raiders pass the Gators.
SPEAKER_02Anyway. So, moving on over to baseball. Got a little interesting scenario that happened with the Atlanta Braves. Oh, you're right, sir. I am glad you pointed this out. I am so sorry, hockey. I skipped right over. I'm an idiot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, forget hockey. Nobody's worried about that mess anymore. It's psych, they're in
Golden Knights Sweep The Avalanche
SPEAKER_01championship mode. All right. Get into hockey playoffs.
SPEAKER_02I am so sorry about moving on in the agenda. Yeah, it happens sometimes.
SPEAKER_01I'm so sorry as well for all the previous times.
SPEAKER_02No, what was sorry is what happened over in the West. The Golden Knights were not sorry. The Golden Knights brought out them brooms and swept the Avalanche right off the ice and into the championship game where they're awaiting the winner out of the Canadiens and Hurricanes game. So congratulations to the Golden Knights because the Avalanche were looking very dominant in this playoffs, and they basically said, get out of here with your being dominant.
SPEAKER_01I'm not gonna lie, I'm rather impressed here because the Avalanche damn near almost walked their way into the championship until that is the Golden Knights came along and said, uh uh-uh, we're going, not you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know that thing you've been doing, all these other teams are gonna do to you. Swept you right out of it.
SPEAKER_01They destroyed them.
SPEAKER_02So now they're waiting. They're waiting. Right now, Carolina is up 2-1 to the hurt or to the Canadian. So we might get what you predicted, which was a Golden Knights Hurricanes Championship.
SPEAKER_01We really need to start tracking these things. I just told you what it was. Yeah. I just told you. That's what you said. Yeah. I remember. But I need to write it down. Why? So we remember, so we can globally. I remembered, so you're good. How about all the other ones?
SPEAKER_02I gave I gave you your flowers. You should be okay with this.
SPEAKER_01I don't want flowers.
SPEAKER_02Your kudos? Your attaboys? That's right.
SPEAKER_01Your cat on the back? Give me my change. Give me my change. I ain't got no change. Like we on the court.
SPEAKER_02I ain't got no cane.
SPEAKER_01No change for you. No cane, sir. What? Well, it is the hurricanes. Well, I guess you're right. Good save. Good save there. Yes. Gotta be quick. Anyway, yeah, I'd like to see a Canadians Golden Knights. We'll see what happens there, though. They play tomorrow. The Canadians and the Hurricanes, that is. Weak sauce. You know who else plays tomorrow, Mike? Well, we're not there yet, so I won't skip a hit. But are we ready to move into baseball? Yes, we are. Now that I have thoroughly gone over our hockey. I feel like I did more talking than you on that one.
SPEAKER_02That's okay. This is a collaborative episode.
SPEAKER_01I do have a very nice, sexy voice, and you have a very rough, non-soothing voice. You know, like nails on a chalkboard.
SPEAKER_02I don't like this shot you're taking.
SPEAKER_01I am likened to Barry Manilo, and you're like nails on a chalkboard.
SPEAKER_02I take back all the good things I said.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Michael Booblay over here. Yes, I will sing you to sleep. Just no.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, moving
MLB Home Run Oddities And Debuts
SPEAKER_02on. So it's a little old, but we gotta touch on this. Uh so the Braves played the Miami Marlins, and the Marlins. The Braves came away with a 9-1 victory in one of those games that they played down in Lone Depot Park. Home Depot Park. Lone Depot.
SPEAKER_01That sounds like bad news. Probably high interest rate. Well, it is Miami.
SPEAKER_02Uh anyway, so it was a really good night for Dominic Smith, who we've talked to talked about him before. Yes, yes. Um so this individual had a night to remember. Not only did he get a home run in this game, but he said, I'm not just gonna get a home run, but I'm also gonna get an in-the-park home run. So this is a feat that doesn't happen very often. Where you get two home runs and one of them happens to be an in-park home run. So it was a pretty cool, pretty cool feat. And to his credit, at least from history, there hasn't been too many people that have done this. You have Fred McGriff, who did it back in 1993. McGriff. You have Andre Thomas, who did it in 1986, former president. Gary Matthews, who did it in 1979.
SPEAKER_01Dave Matthews band.
SPEAKER_02No. Anyway, and then two other individuals that did it back so far that nobody's gonna know who they are.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, I don't remember the Rocky Horror Picture show.
SPEAKER_02We will move right along, but still kind of a cool thing. Had to touch on it. Yes. I thought it was cool. So we've all put in time, worked towards a goal, we've all tried to see the things we work towards pan out.
SPEAKER_01Not me, I pay my way through life.
SPEAKER_02So but no, think about this. Think about if you've been working on something for 11 years.
SPEAKER_01I just told you I don't work.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Listeners, if you were working on something for like 11 years, we're not gonna allow Brian to interrupt this. It's called a career.
SPEAKER_01So Go ahead, sir, go ahead. Yes. I digress. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Carry on. The Cardinals, Brian Torret or Toro, or Torres, sorry. I don't know why I'm say stumbling so much tonight. After 11 years, finally made his major league debut. Eleven years. Why eleven? Just didn't get called up. He's been in the minor leagues, working, grinding, trying to get to the major leagues. After 11 years, he finally, okay, he's getting elevated. Right. He finally makes it at age 28 gets to the major leagues. Good job. With the St. Louis Cardinals. And in his debut, it's a home run. Good job. I mean, could you write it any better? You get there first game, hit a home run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can have two home runs. You can always do better. Look.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna look I'm gonna crap on this man. It's a big day. Come on, man. Don't yuck his yum. Anyway.
SPEAKER_01You know what? For that? I thought it was good. Right. Say this player's name. I thought this was AI's job.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Is a newly called up young pirates player. And he did something, he did something cool too, man. He got his first home run. Now he's he's been up. I think that's cool as hell. It wasn't his first game up. But he gets back to the dugout. None of his teammates are really acknowledging him. He's walking down the dugout, and then all of his teammates just jump on him and start slapping his helmet and stuff and congratulating him after kind of you know pretending like they don't know who he is. But the cool thing though is he hit it into the stands and he wanted the ball back, and a young fan got the ball and said he would give it back to him, but he wanted to make a deal. Okay. So he Sitting there, the kid is sitting there on the phone with his dad. Like, what do we do? What do we ask for? And he they make a negotiation.
SPEAKER_01Hold on, look at was this a game show? You can't call this in.
SPEAKER_02No, he calls his dad, and his dad's like, You gotta at least get a signed bat. And and so he asks him, Can I get a signed bat and a hat? And they do it, they give him a signed bat and a hat to get the ball back. Because it's his first home run. It might be the only one he ever hits. You know, you never know. There's little there was literally a Yankees player who hit in his in his first at bat hit a home run, and his last at bat hit a home run. And there's the only home runs he had a shirt in his entire career. It was his first and his last. So that's cool.
SPEAKER_01You never know. You gotta get these. Hey.
SPEAKER_02So but that's pretty cool. Now it's cool. Now, if the guy turns into a big time player, which he might, I mean, you never know, you gotta sign back from him. From rookie year. Now, moving on to another home run that was kind of cool, and I'll explain why after I show you this little video that I'm going because I like showing Brian the video to get reactions, because his reactions are sometimes pretty much when we add a video element, you'll also be able to see the video.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, when we add a video element, yes. Yeah, instead it's just Mike scrolling through his phone frantically trying to stay on pace. Trying to. Trying to. Oh, look at that. T-Mobile Tuesdays. It's Wednesday, sir. What are you talking about?
SPEAKER_02Trying to get this thing to load so I can show you this thing. Okay, so this video is going to come to us from JS9 innings. And it's a pretty cool game. It was a game between the Guardians and the Washington Nationals, and it's kind of a cool scenario. Okay.
SPEAKER_00And the 2-2 is slugged the left. That goes on hell. It's over his head and uh gone. 3-0 match. Maybe two homers, three batters into the game. Nice swing right there. How about the one-handed leaping grab by the Australian? Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_02That's pretty crazy. So, yeah, there's a fan in the stands wearing an Australian or Australia t-shirt from the World Baseball Classic. This guy literally leaps up. No, literally leaps up and grabs this ball barehanded, one hand. Bro, you you would have thought he's Odo Beckham Jr. I mean, it was an impressive catch. You really got to go look at it for a fan to catch like that. But what makes it really cool is the fact that the player that hit the home run ball was Curtis Means of the of the Nationals, who played for Team Australia in the World Baseball Classic. So from Aussie to another person wearing an Aussie t-shirt. But they interviewed the fan, and the fan said that it really wasn't because of him that he was wearing an Australian shirt. It wasn't because of him, it was because of another player. It was Travis Banzai Banzana?
SPEAKER_01Bazana or Bazzana. Depends on how they speak.
SPEAKER_02Another Australian who is on the Guardians, who is who is his favorite player. Hang on. Who is one of his favorite players? And he was hoping to maybe get a home run ball from him, but he said to get it from another fellow Ozzy is kind of cool.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna tell you my favorite Australian joke. Oh lord. Why does everybody think Atlanta's football team is Australian? Because they're the Falcons. Sir, that is funny. That is hilarious. I made that up myself. It shows. If we had an audience, they would have laughed for real. Not because our blink they would have laughed at me. Anyway. They would have laughed at you not laughing at me, which they would also be laughing at.
SPEAKER_02So we hope this past Memorial Day weekend was a good one for you guys. We hope that it was a Colton Kowser kind of weekend for you, because Colton Kowser had two walk-off home runs to give the Orioles their victories this past weekend. Pretty impressive feat, and especially doing it against your rival in the Tampa Bay Rays, who are doing quite well in their division. So you always want to get those games when you can against your division rivals. It's a pretty cool thing for him. And there's a Brewers pitcher that we've mentioned a few times, Jacob Meserowski. Yes. He is doing stuff now that is so impressive. This guy pitched this past week and had a had a 12 strikeouts in the game, but he we know he throws heat. He throws over 100 miles an hour at times, and so much so that he did it 57 times in his last start through triple digits. Dang. That's impressive. Like that does not happen very often. And I'm pretty sure that's now the record. 57 times at triple digits in a start. So congratulations to Meserowski.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's a good eye, too, by the way, to be able to hit something moving that fast. Good luck to you hit something that fast. He had 12Ks.
SPEAKER_02He fanned 12 of them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And speaking of uh you know fanning people or you know getting the victory, how about those Astros?
No Hitters Heat And Division Leaders
SPEAKER_02They're not having the best season, but they had something happen this past weekend that worked out quite well for them. Where you know they kind of are having a little tough time with Amaya not really getting off to a hot start, and a lot of their pitching not really getting off to a hot start. Hot start. But between him and two relievers, they combined for a no-hitter against their divisional rival, the Rangers. So the Power Rangers. This is actually kind of a cool thing because it's been a year and a half since we've had a no-hitter. Now it's a combined no-hitter, granted, most pitchers don't go the complete nine anymore. So, but it's still kind of cool, especially since one of the relievers, it was his very first major league appearance combined with a no-hitter. It's pretty cool. Congratulations. And speaking of no-hitting and being scoreless, how about the Phil the Philadelphia Phillies, their pitcher, Christopher Sanchez, he has upped his streak of scoreless innings to 44 and two-thirds innings, which is a record for the Phillies.
SPEAKER_01And Ricoldo.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So imagine that. Just imagine that. You gotta think that these pitchers are not going a full nine anymore. So even if you did break it up into nine, you know, say like nine innings, that's more than two starts. That's a few starts that he's blanked a team with no no runs. So that's kind of a cool thing when you really need some good pitching. And speaking of good pitching, this happened today. And sometimes you could be as good as you want, but your team's gonna let you down. And poor Dustin May. Poor Dustin May. He took his his Cardinals deep into a game, had a no-hitter that he lost in the eighth inning.
SPEAKER_00Oh man.
SPEAKER_02And not only does he lose the no-hitter in the eighth inning, but his team doesn't score enough runs to even get them the win. So his great start just goes away. And they lose the game to the Brewers two to one. I know that's frustrating. That's so bad. And it and against the team in your own division. That's just deflating. That'd be like the Cowboys coming in and blanking your team and scoring 59 points.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, which I think happened last season. I don't think they did.
SPEAKER_02Not 59 points. It was pretty bad. But anyway, before we move off of baseball, let's talk about who is leading each division. Right now in the the AL East, we have the Tampa Bay Rays leading with a 34 and 18 record. The AL Centrals being led by the Guardians with a 33 and 25 record. The Waldians. And look at that. Remember the White Sox being cellar dwellers a few years ago? Now they're right behind the Cleveland Guardians in that division. That's pretty cool. And going over to the AL West, the Seattle Mariners are leading the charge with a sub-500 record. That's not a good look. With a 28-29 win-loss record. Coming over to the NL East, the Atlanta Braves are leading that division with a 37-18 record. In the NL Central, the Milwaukee Brewers are leading that show with a 33-20 record. And over to the NL West, where the Dodgers are leading with a 35 and 20 record.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Not bad. Not bad. Well, a lot of action to still be had in the world of baseball, uh, especially as they go through the rest of their season
Knicks Return To Finals After Sweep
SPEAKER_01here. But, you know, um, jumping over on the NBA side, Mike, there's a lot of fireworks right now, especially with the NBA playoffs underway.
SPEAKER_02Well, we can say that over in uh New York, it's feeling like they're dialing the clock back to 1999. 1999. Because right now, the Knicks, for the first time since 1999, are going to the finals.
SPEAKER_01I remember 1999, I was 10.
SPEAKER_02And that's after a sweep. Bless me. That's after a sweep of the Cavs. The Cavs, who basically look like they gave up these last two games. I might have been 11. I honestly from game one, it felt like that losing a 22-point lead to the Knicks kind of felt like felt like the Knicks just came and reached in their chest and pulled out their hearts and held it in front of them and said, You don't need this anymore. I'm the captain now. This is mine.
SPEAKER_01Give it to me.
SPEAKER_02So, you know, Knicks fans obviously are overjoyed because they've suffered for decades. Now they're finally back. Uh, but this kind of comes with a weird era to it, you know, where it could kind of be a rematch of '99 because in '99 they played against the Spurs. It was Spurs Knicks in '99. Which they better hope it doesn't go like '99 because they didn't win. Spurs won that one.
SPEAKER_01I know. And and you know, are we talking about recently? Uh, you know, Spurs need to hold it together. We'll get to them in just a second.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll get to that in a minute. But we need to talk about the uh Cavs and how that collapse just looked. Man. What happened?
SPEAKER_01You know, like they were looking pretty strong until they met the Knicks. And then it was like they showed it's like who they we saw who they really were.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, they had they had a a rough first series, and then they made it over to playing against Detroit, where Detroit took them, took them into seven, and it kind of looked like it kind of looked like Detroit was gonna possibly push them out after you know seven, but I don't know if it was like them being tired or what the deal was, but when you're not getting good production out of James Harden, and I know he's gonna take a lot of the heat, but it's really a team effort. But you know, when you're expecting when you trade for this guy to him be a top scorer, and he doesn't really do that. I mean, he did facilitate and pass the ball and kind of work and run the offense a little, but they were going after him. He was a defensive liability, you know, and I mean, really, the defense was failing him over and over again. They were they look, this last game on Monday, they got beat out 130 to 99, and Donovan Mitchell gave up, you know, did 31 points, but it wasn't nothing really, because you guys lost by almost 40 points. Like you you had your souls taken from you. You know, it was not it was not a good look. 37 points to be exact. But what what was even more puzzling after this was statements made by by Hardmore. He's like, We were the better team. What?
SPEAKER_01If you were the better team, you wouldn't have you wouldn't have gotten sweat. Yeah, you would have been, yeah, you were not the better team.
SPEAKER_02And then do not pass go, do not collect a s what made it even more confusing was when they talked to the head coach Atkins, and he's like, Well, the analytics for through the first three games show that we were the that we were the winner of two of the three. What? So you lost three out of the first three. Like you what? Like I get what the I get what he's trying to say, but it doesn't sound right. You know, like the analytics say that you won, but you lost.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I hear the Cavs uh Brass was pretty upset as well because you know, not to fast forward too much, but on their most recent game, they had some notable super fans in the house. You know, Timothy Chalamet being one, uh Fat Joe, a couple others. They all had courtside seats, and they were told last minute that their seats were no longer available. Oh man. After they had already paid for them. Where where were their seats then? I I believe most of them were relocated to nosebleed level seats. Oh, jeez. Fat Joe was like they basically stranded us in Cleveland. They were trying to make that's a new level of petty. They were trying to make last-minute plans, all of them, to watch the game somewhere. Oh my goodness. I cannot imagine the level of anger.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure. But so getting back to the Atkins comment with the analytics, and I get what he's saying. So you can see what the game plan was. The game plan was force somebody else to shoot threes. In this case, if they wanted Hart to shoot threes. Let me let me get the score line from this, because I want to get it right. I believe it was in game two, is where they try to where they try to force him force him to shoot threes.
SPEAKER_01My apologies while I bring this up. We are ill prepared. We are we are ill. But listen to the calming sounds of a thunderstorm in the background while we soothe you to a point where you hopefully won't lose interest in the show. Or at least this episode.
SPEAKER_02No. So here we are. So the the the point was they were trying to make somebody else be the focal point for the scoring, and so they were trying to keep it from being being Carl Anthony Towns and trying to keep it from being Brunson or Mikhail Bridges. So they they were forcing Josh Hart to shoot, be the shooter. He hit five of eleven from three-point land and finished with 26 points in game two. So their plan was to force somebody to shoot from behind the arc, which, if you really looked at it over the season, the Knicks were not a three-point shooting team very often, and they were still successful. But so from an analytics standpoint, I get what he's saying. Our game plan was to force them to do something they don't do, and they did that, but it didn't work. So your comment of we were really, by analytics, the winners of two or three, like, what no? No, I don't think you know how analytics work.
SPEAKER_01I don't think you know how winning works. You you lost.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. And not not like not like you took it seven. No, you got swept out the house. Your own house. You got you lost in your house. They came in, said, I'm stomping all around with my marketing.
SPEAKER_01We're getting this done here tonight. They're like, screw your house.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna come over here, I'm gonna stomp all over your furniture.
SPEAKER_01We came here to finish that. It's over. You guys suck. Anyway, we digress. Yeah. The Cavs will be back for another season next season.
SPEAKER_02Well, they gotta figure out what they're gonna do with their roster because they don't have much flexibility due to the hardened contract and a few of the other heavy contracts they have. So we'll see how that works out and how they can maybe restructure or find a way to pull off some crazy, crazy trade.
SPEAKER_01With a minor change in cast, the calves will return in 2026.
SPEAKER_02So before we jump into the other series, yes, which to me is the more interesting
Wembanyama Card Jackpot Spurs Thunder
SPEAKER_02series. But interesting. If you're if you're a card collector, I am recently a seller opened a pack and found found a Victor Wimbayama card that was pretty rare. It wasn't signed, wasn't anything, you know, like game worn jersey or anything, but it was a card graded 10 of 10. So it had been, you know, graded. So when you grade a card, it's always worth more money. And what I mean grading, okay, for those who do not collect cards. Appraisal. Yes. Bingo. It's an appraisal. And when the card is encased and given it's graded between, you know, one to ten on how good the condition is, it can add value to the card. In this case, it was a 10 of 10 Victor Wimbayama card. And the individual sold this card for $5.11 million dollars. Why can't I get any luck like this, Mike? Where is where is our luck at? Okay, so the reason we don't have luck like this is we don't have money to just spend on the type of packs and stuff you gotta buy to get cards like this. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Like, look, I know I know some serious Magic the Gathering players and they drop some money too.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, um most card players, card collectors do. But I will say, if you have the means, you know, you buy a bunch of hobby boxes and like these. You can't go spend $20 on a box of cards and expect to find something like this. No, you gotta go spend the hundred plus box of cards, and that's where you get stuff like this. I'm not advising people to do that unless you're really into it. But if you can get five five point one million dollars out of it, do you do you?
SPEAKER_01I say go for it. You can afford it. What are you gonna spend that hundred dollars on? Weed? Go buy a card box, make a million dollars or more. Yeah, I don't know. So you can't tell people how they spend their money. You're right. And I'm not gonna try.
SPEAKER_02Hell no.
SPEAKER_01Hell nah.
SPEAKER_02So we're not gonna fully go back in this series between the Spurs and the Thunder. But we're gonna jump back. We're gonna jump back to where this C where this series got tied up 2-2. To the Macarena. So the series got tied up 2-2 back on Sunday, where Victor Wimbayama played like the player we expect him to be. The 33 points, eight rebounds, three blocks to the SGA, only 19.7 assists in game two, where he hit a buzzer beater, Wimbayama did, right before the end of a quarter.
SPEAKER_01Also, from the logo. From half court, yeah, also from the logo. Logo shot, yeah. Yeah. So
SPEAKER_02Really dominant game for them. But fast forward over to Tuesday night. Yeah. What happened?
SPEAKER_01I already know why they lost this. It's because they were doing Tony Romo's warm-up in the hallway as their warm-up dance. That's why they lost. Tony Romo's warm-up. Dak Prescott. Same same. Whatever.
SPEAKER_02Same thing. Oh, you're talking about that little hip dance thing we've seen them do in the middle of the day. Yeah, the little hip dance thing he does. I'm not gonna play it here. Wait, wait, wait. You said the Spurs were doing that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The Spurs are in the hallway, about to come out, and they're doing the Dak Prescott dance.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it was the Spurs. Yeah, it was the Spurs. So is this why they lost? Oh, maybe that is why they lost.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna take I had a whole take on why they lost, but like, dang, maybe it is, maybe that is the reason.
SPEAKER_01Let's hear your take.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. It's not as good as the as the the doing the Dak Prescott in the hallway to lose. I think Dak lost that game where he did that. Anyway, yeah must be something in the water in Texas. Must be. Anyway, so the Thunder won game five, putting them up 3-2 in the series, 127 to 114, with a dominant performance by She Gilgus Alexander or SGA. And Castle coming away with the 24 points, six assists, and three steals. So it just never looked like they could get ahead. But I will say this, and this has been throughout the series. And I know people are talking about SGA being this free throw merchant. And I don't have a take- I I don't want to say that it's SGA being a free throw merchant, as much as it is the referees. Like look, we all know that players from time to time, if they can find a way to I don't want to say bend the rules, but if they're gonna be given a call or they're gonna find a way to bait a call, they're gonna do it. And on more than one occasion, SGA, while going through a shooting motion, will just kind of nobody touching him, nothing. He just kind of falls over mid-shot with guys around him and they give him a foul. Kind of weird, in my opinion, that a guy who isn't even touched gets a foul, you know? Tom Brady. Or when you have a referee looking at the play and you see Hartenstein grabbing Castle by his hair and yoking his head back as he's trying to go for a free ball, the whistle's in his mouth. He could have just blown the whistle. Like you could see where the referee is looking at the play and he does nothing. So if you're going to allow these things to happen where you don't call or you are calling, and I'm not saying that the Spurs aren't getting their fair share of calls, no, I am not saying that at all, because they are getting calls, they are getting to the line, but they're not getting the same kind of favoritism, what seems to be, that the Oklahoma City Thunder are getting. And if you go on the internet, there are plenty of people with videos and stuff showing where this is a thing. Now, I'm not gonna fault SGA, because SGA is just a game of the system. It's anything to win, right? Yeah. So if it's anything to win, and they're gonna call stuff if you do things in a certain manner, that's not a rest. You just straight up go up there and tell them, bro, stop flopping. We ain't calling it. At this point, I agree. Yeah at this point, I feel the WNBA is tougher than the guys. Because, bro, there was literally again, I can't I wish I remember which game it was and the player's name. But there was literally a girl in a game the other day where she straight up looked like she came out of a USC fight. Like she was bloodied up and everything, and she still won to play. Bro, like, come on. Like, can we, you know, stop giving these little mambi-pambi little calls where guys are barely touched, and stop giving these guys that are flopping around calls? Like, no, I I agree with it. It's unwatchable when they do this stuff, and it and and um I know most people are gonna be like, well, it's been like that. You've been you should have been watching all year. No, it's more focal now because you're seeing it. Not everybody gets the Oklahoma City game. Most of the time, if you're on the East Coast, you're in bed by the time they play. Yeah, they come on late. But you know, when you have this game, and this is the other reason that the Spurs lost, and you you have your big player, Victor Bimbayama, being that guy that you want to be your guy, he didn't show up. Now, I know you're gonna say, well, he had 20 points, but he did not show up. The biggest man on the court only had six rebounds, one assist, he had two steals, three blocks, but like, come on, he got to the free throw line, he was 12-12 from the free throw line. So he got to the free throws, SGA went 16-17 from the free throw line, but you can see the Spurs had their chances at the free throw line, and so did Oklahoma. But you have two of their starters that didn't even go to the free throw line. Yeah. It's kind of crazy. So I can't put it all on Oklahoma.
SPEAKER_01I gotta put some of it on the well, the refs, and I mean, well, yeah. It's tough when you're doing things like that.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, the the NBA has a problem between the tanking and the flopping. They gotta get that figured out because right now it's looking like the women are tougher than the men.
SPEAKER_01Damn. My man came for violence tonight. Tell me I'm wrong.
SPEAKER_02I I implore everybody. Go watch a WBA game and see how tough it is.
SPEAKER_01And you know, I've been following some WNBA, and they play pretty tough too.
SPEAKER_02And that and that whistle does not come out. These girls go hard into the paint and knowing they're gonna get hit, and they still go.
SPEAKER_01Damn right. But speaking of
NFL Contracts Legal Trouble And Headlines
SPEAKER_01still going, the NFL never stops, Mike. You know this?
SPEAKER_02Of course not. So, we're all crackheads for the NBA. Or not NBA, NFL.
SPEAKER_01We're we're just a couple days removed from June, which means we are almost officially in NFL air. Okay, we're gonna let the NBA have their finals, have their moment, and then, you know, baseball will keep us going for a short bit, but we are almost to OTAs, we're almost at the Hall of Fame game, we're almost to preseason, we are almost to regular season football. We are 120 days away.
SPEAKER_02You realize come, I think it's June 1st or June 2nd, that's when they can start redoing contracts and stuff.
SPEAKER_01That's right. And all these players that were set designated as June 1 cuts. Like AJ Brown. See where they hand. They're going, they're going somewhere. Yeah, he's probably going to the Patriots. They're going somewhere.
SPEAKER_02We'll see. We'll see next next by I think next episode. Yeah, next episode. We'll be seeing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because next next week is the first. So yeah, we'll we'll literally we will have an idea of where some of these things will play. But real quick, speaking of who's not going anywhere, uh Safety Durwin James and Chargers agree to three-year contract, $75.5 million contract extension. Is this thing fully guaranteed, Mike?
SPEAKER_02I do not believe it's fully guaranteed. No, it is not fully guaranteed. It's a 57.1 million guaranteed out of that 75.6 million. So it's not it's not a fully guaranteed contract, but it's it's it's enough. He's getting paid well.
SPEAKER_01Hmm. That's interesting. I I had another thought on it, but I lost it. But 75, you know, 57 million out of the 75 million being guaranteed. That's a good little chunk. Especially for safety. Yeah, especially for a safety, a high performing safety, such as Mr. James. Yes. Um, and then am I reading this correct, Mike? Yes, you are. All right, Johnny Manzel, who not very many of you may be familiar with anymore because you're not from mine and Mike's time. But anyway, it's not that far far long ago that he was this amazing high-performing QB in college.
SPEAKER_02He's a former Heisman Trophy winner, Johnny Manzell.
SPEAKER_01And he has uh, I guess, decided to wade into the world of MMA. Um, and I guess in his debut, he pummels the an influencer. I'm trying to pull it up myself. Bob Minory.
SPEAKER_02Bob 38-year-old Bob Minory. He in the first round, stoppage, they stopped the uh fight for a victory for Mr. Manzel.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So he must have really uh pummeled him, but from what I was told, uh Johnny Manzel did not look uh too in shape. Some people said he kind of looked like E.T. and laying there in the ditch from from the movie E.T.
SPEAKER_01Well, uh, you know, it he can keep it because he says he's not gonna fight again. So maybe maybe he wasn't ready. I'm sure he made some money off this fight.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it was it was a UFC event, I think.
SPEAKER_01And done with an inf a notable influencer. I'm not familiar with this influencer, but I guess he's a very notable influencer. So I mean, congratulations on the win. The guy seems like he needed a win somewhere in life at this point.
SPEAKER_02Oh there was another fighter, another person that got got in a fight. Uh, remember Ray J?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Bro, he's still in the hospital. He got so jacked up in his fight. Like, I don't know who he fought, but he's like, he's in the hospital, bro. Like he's he got jacked up. Damn. Speaking of getting jacked up.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02How about Eagles linebacker? Why don't you tell us uh about this Eagles linebacker, man?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. What was it? Uh Nolan Smith. Uh this guy. There's a lot of legal issues if you've been paying attention around. We'll talk about some of them here coming up. But uh linebacker Nolan Smith plays for the Eagles. Uh he was arrested Friday. Uh basically, he was clocked at 135 miles an hour, doing 135 and a 70. He was what? He was clocked at 135 miles an hour. Bro.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01That's twice, that's double the speed limit. The speed limit was 70. We don't have any highways in Virginia that are 70 miles an hour, Mike.
SPEAKER_02Oh, there's no highways that are in triple digits.
SPEAKER_01Like there's one, there's one in Texas. There's one in Texas. The highway, it's the fastest highway in the U.S. It's probably because there's nothing there. It's probably in West Texas. It's entering from Louisiana to Texas. So you see why it's so fast.
SPEAKER_02But oh, they're trying to get away. You're trying to get away.
SPEAKER_01It's like 95 miles an hour or something like that. It's crazy. That's not triple digits, it's 95. Yeah, but they do triple digits. Everything's faster out west. They gotta get farther. No, you want to do these speeds, you go to Audubon. Yeah, and I mean, this is crazy. Me, this is just irresponsible, right? I don't know if uh if um substances or alcohol was involved. Um, but come on, man. What 137 miles an hour? That was that's double the posted speed limit that I read. So I'm not gonna try to I'm not gonna try to beat him while he's down, but uh it certainly is uh quite notable.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm I'm trying, I'm trying to look over the uh the the report here because I want to find out. Uh let's see, let's see, let's see, let's see. Man, I don't tell you in this article. Man, because like I'm trying to imagine what he was in to do that fast, because like look, man, nobody ever says, hey, he was in a geo tracker.
SPEAKER_01Well, while like hold on, while we're talking about bad news, you know, do we do we even need to talk about Rasheed Rice?
SPEAKER_02No, no, we don't. But I I wanna I want to go down this. Like, what do you think he was driving to go this fast? Because there's no way this was like a Honda Civic. There's no way that he was like, you know, in a fucking minivan. Like, what do you think he was driving? Usually it tells you, but I don't see. I know it didn't, it doesn't say what he was pulled over in. I want to know what he was pulled over in. Because like when you're going 135, like you gotta be driving something nice, right? Like you're not gonna be driving some everyday vehicle, you know? Like he's he's not sitting here in a Ford Explorer doing this. Yeah, usually they tell you what he was driving. He was he's probably driving something nice, like you know, a Lamborghini.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I mean, my Charger SXT will do 160 miles an hour.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, bro. No, you ain't doing 135 in your car.
SPEAKER_01137, and you're correct. No, I'm not. Not on these roads. Oh, hell no, these roads are garbage. Not with these police, not out here with these garbage. Sorry, brother. I have a very good driving record. I'd like to keep that. But anyway, we digress on that. Uh hobby's learned something. We gotta find out what car he was driving. That's a very good question.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, if you find out who or what he was driving, put that on social media for us. Like put it on our page. We want to find out what was Nolan Smith driving when he did 135.
SPEAKER_01And and here's one we're tracking as of today, actually. I think uh, you know, Josh Jacobs uh was in custody, you know, turned himself in on some domestic charges and some other things. He has been released, and it's a formal statement out from his legal team. And uh officially the DA is not ready to formally charge him. So there's not been any charges brought against him, though he has been processed.
SPEAKER_02Well, they are they are looking at the evidence to find out if there is more to process in coming up with charges. But this this is this does not sound or look good because when he was brought in, he was booked on on on charges of battery, with the subtext to that being domestic abuse, criminal damage to property, domestic abuse, disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, strangulation, and suffocation. This is not good. This is not a good look. Yeah, but intimidation of a victim.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, uh well, I mean, he hasn't been formally charged with anything yet, although I'm questionable as to why he was even processed, if he doesn't even have any charges. But I guess that's just what they arrest him on. Well But it may be civil. It may just stay civil.
SPEAKER_02They may, they may have well, if people are called, or if the cops are called and he was, you know, taking him away from the situation and not formally. He was brought into custody and they're still putting the gun case.
SPEAKER_01So the police probably wrote a charge because they have to write a charge in order to be able to detain you.
SPEAKER_02Right. But once you got evidence, they need evidence.
SPEAKER_01Well, that, but once he got before a magistrate, somebody somewhere in the system uh basically fast-tracked this because the DA stepped in, right? And he's like, I want to I want to see what you got. So Right.
SPEAKER_02So the the point of the matter is he hasn't been formally charged with anything because they still have to really go over all of the things that happened and look at the evidence and collect how evidence.
SPEAKER_01However, that does not mean that there will not be charges. I just want to brace everybody. This just means they're trying to evaluate what charges they're gonna bring against them. So they're more than likely. I just want to prepare you, there more than likely will be charges. They're just not saying right now what exactly they're ready to charge him with. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I mean, because they probably still have people to interview and well, yeah, they have they have things to go through and things like that.
SPEAKER_01So uh and they don't want to take it lightly, which I can appreciate, honestly, for Jacob's benefit. So, you know, I wish them the best of luck. It's never easy dealing with something like this. Uh whether you're guilty or innocent, uh, domestic violence is not a joke. It's uh very difficult to deal with. Okay, it's difficult to deal with if you're a victim, it's difficult to deal with if you're being framed for it. Okay, it's just a bad taste all around. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, best thing to do in a heated situation. If try to collect yourself, walk away.
SPEAKER_01Literally, literally leave. Get in your car and leave. Go somewhere else. It's the it's the best thing you could do in most call a friend, literally get in it, get in your car and leave. They always tell you you don't want to leave the house because blah blah blah. No, get in your car and leave. Straight up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can look, even if you think something's gonna go down at your house, you can replace stuff. You can't replace it.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you can call the police if you feel it's necessary. Oh, if you think if you leave the house and well you you can leave, go around the block, and then you can call the police, and then they'll come back to the house with you if you need to. But like I say, it it it all comes down to it, just get out of the situation. I don't care who you are. Okay, maybe both of y'all leave. Both y'all leave go somewhere else. Nobody's staying in the house that night. So yeah. But anyway, uh, very serious situation. I wish him the best of luck. Uh, and hopefully he's able to work it out with however it's gonna go. Um and this is not really so. This next thing here is kind of obscure. So everybody knows you're aware Brian Flores is the uh defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.
SPEAKER_02Former head coach of the Dolphins.
SPEAKER_01The former head coach of the Dolphins, and currently has a discrimination suit. The Dawkins? I was thinking Brian Dawkins. I'm thinking anyway, the Dolphins. And he has a ongoing discrimination suit against the NFL, I believe, predominantly on the basis of racism. Um, so I'm not gonna hit too much on that, but there was a notable um win for Mr. Flores's side, something that we have not historically seen. All right. So basically, he petitioned uh the NFL. Let me just go through a result here, okay? So the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to intervene in a discrimination lawsuit led by former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores against the NFL, allowing the case to proceed to a trial. So basically, Roger Goodell wanted um he wanted the Supreme Court to kick the case out so they could deal with it in arbitration, which they commonly frequently do. This is a win not necessarily for the discrimination side of the case yet, but it's a step in the right direction. This is a win for the future of how things in the sport could be handled, okay? Because there's been a lot of controversy around how Roger Goodell handles disciplinary action in the NFL, um, especially over the over the years. So typically things go to arbitration. There's been some notable things. Uh, we won't go too deep in those. I don't know all of them off the top of my head anyway. But this is basically uh the Supreme Court saying, no, uh, we're not gonna let Roger Goodell manipulate the show and run the show and let him decide what's right and what's wrong. Uh, we're gonna let this go through the public court system, and we're gonna let real judges and if they determine a real jury, however they decide they want this trial, they're gonna let it go through the legal system, the public system, and see how it plays out. And I think, especially, Mike, since it is a discrimination case, I think this is the right call. Um, I say let it play out. I say let them present their evidence. It might not be a good look for the NFL, but they're they're kind of starting to to go into damage control here, I think.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's a messy situation in general when you're trying to sue a major corporation like the NFL. It's even more messier when you start.
SPEAKER_01talking about you know it being discrimination and you know for Brian Flores who is still in the NFL I mean he is he is a defensive coordinator and he was a one time he has a job you know um I can understand his his feelings of like if you feel like you've been wronged you want to get it right you want to get get you know yours and get you know get some validation from how you felt like you were wronged yeah so for him to pursue this I don't blame him yeah and if you I'll be honest no you could prove it yeah yeah and and honestly this doesn't feel like it's about money sometimes you can tell us it's about money I'm like ah he's just wants money okay Brian Flores is still a defensive coordinator with a multi-million dollar multi-year contract okay uh this is not about money for him uh and I I I don't know all the details but I believe if what you believe is what you're doing is right I say go for it and if you have an opportunity to put a major corporation in their place especially when it comes uh to diversity equity and inclusion I say go for it everybody doesn't like that word but you know whatever maybe that's more for corporations we'll just say when it comes down to quality standards if you think that what you're pursuing is right I say go for it and so I think this is a big congratulations on how they're handling this case going forward so they're not allowing the NFL basically to pull the strings on it which historically like I said has been a thing well we'll see how it shakes out we will see how it shakes out this process is just getting started um and speaking of something else shaking out I thought this was a little funny tidbit Mike um if it'll pull back up so basically there is a World Cup match set to be played uh in Dallas you know at their stadium uh and basically both the organizations playing there have requested uh blackout curtains for that part of their windows and basically there is an interview I'll just cut it short Jerry Jones says he will get it for the soccer players but he does not intend to use it during the NFL season so he's gonna use it for soccer but uh he's sorry cowboys and cowboys fans you will still have open windows regardless of which way the sun is pointing which by the way gotta point the finger at the architect to not figure that design not working well oh I think it was on which direction the sun is gonna go and if he did it on purpose that's a D-bag move I think he did on purpose but I didn't think they were expecting the actual home team to have the issues with it that they were so I don't know what he thought they were going to do. So dumb and somebody including Jerry Jones approved this stadium design so but that's all I got on that one. That's funny this next one we get a little more serious with um Mike if you want to dive into it I'll uh you know and we're gonna talk a little more general NFL news as well but Jackson Dart recently uh got opportunity to meet our president uh which is huge one a life once in a lifetime opportunity regardless of where you are okay I will say this and I think I've said this before when it comes to uh you know meeting a president look whether you like or dislike whether you agree or disagree with the with who has the office you're still meeting a president regardless so not everybody gets to do that so if you get a chance if you don't like the guy I'm not saying you have to shake his hand I'm not sh saying you have to take a photo or say hi or any of that you can simply just be like met the president and move on you know um in this case for Mr Jackson Dart he had the opportunity to kind of introduce the president and kind of I guess give it a little endorsement but the way in which he did it he acted like this was a pep rally for college or something like gets up there and he's like yo yo yo big blue like huh bro you're you're not introducing you know one of your O linemen or your receivers or your kicker like you're introducing the president like let's the office office of the president whether you like the man or not which that left to be desired look bottom line is if you're going to be doing something where you might want to bring a little decorum and be a little professional you should be you should be professional in this scenario this was a really really really bad look for the quarterback not only for the standpoint that he seemed ill prepared to do an introduction for a president yeah but the fact that you got up there and you acted like you were like a VJ on MTV or you know a a disc jockey at a local radio station in New York like you just you looked like a clown. Yeah I mean I'm I'm not gonna I don't know about whether or not he looked like a clown he definitely looked ill prepared there should have been somebody or sounded like a clown. I don't know what he looked like well there should have been somebody to help prepare him for this uh for for this moment uh I I think the organizal organization fell short on that um but I I also agree you know he wasn't very professional um I I'm glad he got to meet the president in the manner that he did and got the honor of being able to introduce him but I think that like I said this is where bipartisanship comes in for me right this is compromise you can't just you can't just you know diss everybody who doesn't share your belief okay oh you need to hear the competition and what they believe in because uh you need to be able to communicate with each other this is where I how I feel about this you know so like this mindset of oh you don't share my beliefs so forget you to me I need to hear what you believe in why you believe in it and how you believe in it because you need to hear my side and this is how we get things together.
SPEAKER_02Things a little bit too extreme right now but well honestly there used to be a point in time where people could have separate views and you still be alright like it's like you don't have to agree with everything else everybody else agree you know like you don't have to agree all the time. You can have opposing views and it's fine. You don't have to sit there and dislike each other because you don't have the same political views. I mean I me personally I have friends that are both parties and I but my personal opinion this high fill in politics and I love this line I'm gonna steal it from from a movie politicians are like dirty diapers and should be changed for the same reason. And I'll leave it at that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah I mean I don't I don't disagree and uh we don't like to get too political but me and Mike are actually like polar opposites but we have a very very strong friendship as we do with several of our other friends uh Brian Max Morrison being one of them and um but this did I I wanna I wanna sorry to steal it from you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah okay but like this is kicking up a whole side conversation causing issue with Dart in the locker room and whether his teammates are going to support him now that he's kind of like supporting somebody they might not agree with and you know it's like causing all kinds kinds of just angst in the locker room and some people have been like oh Harbaugh getting his real first test I mean and I I thought about when somebody said that I was like do y'all not remember the Ray Rice incident?
SPEAKER_01I think John Harbaugh has dealt with controversy and dealt with you know issues in the locker room so I think he's yeah I think he'll figure this one out big Ray and Little Ray but like I don't I don't think this is as big an issue as people want to make it maybe not even as big an issue as we're talking about it right now on air um I think he'll be fine it's not it's not just I'm not saying it's an issue I just it was not a good look to be so unprofessional.
SPEAKER_02I agree I I thought it was a little unprofessional but he's young I think he'll be fine I don't think he's gonna have any issues with his team I mean get your first two wins under your belt this season everybody will forget.
SPEAKER_01Yeah pretty much I mean go out there and ball out I so like I said but you like to see a little more like you say a little more decorum a little more professionalism uh when you're in a position like that and I feel like he was really let down in being prepared for that um but I that aside uh you know there's not bad things all around guys we got some good things happening right I don't know how long ago this one happened but I'm gonna talk about it anyway because I think it's cool it's hilarious. So Devontae Adams uh he told kids that is used at his youth football camp that he'd give a $60,000 Rolex to anyone who could beat him in a one-on-one rep. Okay well one kid actually pulled it off and Adams kept his word he handed him the $60,000 Rolex right after I imagine that's a moment that neither of them will ever forget the time he lost a Rolex and probably $60,000 worth of it and the kid he's probably never gonna get rid of that Rolex. He probably sleeps with it. Now he's got to get a safe and lock that thing up put in a safety deposit box at the bank nobody will even better even better unless you're the Joker from Batman then you might get it but um I'm just saying that's that's one of those things like you'll remember that till the day you died. To the day you died that's gonna be one of those things he's gonna pull it out he's gonna pull out show pictures of it and be like guess how I got this now uh you know I know we're a little short on news but there are things like I said there's a lot of notable things happening around the sports world so we look forward to seeing uh more come out of the NFL especially as we approach the June 1st deadline as you were talking about just the NFL we're getting ready for NHL championship you know that's right final and then we're getting NBA finals we're looking forward to all of that we want to see we want to see some good this is this is a good time of year because things are about to kick off and other things are about to close out in a strong
Closing Thanks And What Comes Next
SPEAKER_01way.
SPEAKER_02So and we're getting close to MLB trade deadline where things just start going nuts.
SPEAKER_01Yeah that's true we're watching MLB trade deadline approaching as well so a lot of things look forward to here uh coming up and we will check back in more with the WNBA because their championship bracket is also coming soon as well they still got to finish up the season yeah they'll they'll finish the season but they're they're they're fast approaching theirs as well they're right on the heels of the NBA so uh Mike are we ready to close out sir yes we are well everybody I'd like to thank you for listening I know it was a short one but it's okay it happens like that hopefully still good quality conversation for you uh I'd like to thank our sponsors and partners one last time Body Body Gem, Stala's Outfitters and Mid Atlantic Territory Wrestling.
