The sports calendar hits that rare stretch where every league is loud at the same time, and we try to make sense of all of it without pretending we’ve got it perfectly scripted. We start with the World Cup 2026 heating up, from Norway’s shock win over Brazil and that electric Viking row celebration in Oslo, to England surviving Mexico 3 to 2 and then dealing with a brutal postgame injury. We also clear up the England flag vs Union Jack confusion that’s been floating around among US fans.

Then the mood shifts when the US gets smacked 4 to 1 by Belgium, and we dig into the strange suspension reversal that let a key player suit up anyway. From there, we get into the kind of controversy that makes soccer feel like more than a game: Argentina vs Egypt, wiped-off goals, extra time, Messi moments, and the inevitable “is this fixed” argument that never really goes away when the stakes get this high.

MLB brings its own brand of chaos with notorious umpires retiring, the All-Star break approaching, and the kind of stories only baseball produces: a 12-foot beer stein record on July 4, a stadium singalong turning into a home run, and the pitch count decision that ended a perfect game through seven. We hit All-Star starters, a few snubs, and then pivot to NBA offseason madness: Kyle Lowry retiring, a six-team trade, Jalen Brown landing in Philly for Paul George, Donovan Mitchell’s massive extension, and LeBron rumor math. We close with NFL notes on former players coaching high school, a Commanders signing, the Brandon Aiyuk social media spiral, and the Taylor Swift Travis Kelce MSG wedding spectacle.

Summer Sports Agenda And Intros

SPEAKER_00

July 8th, 2026. Welcome back everybody and thank you for joining us once again for another episode of SportsBanter with us. I'm Brian with an eye. And I'm Mike. And we are two for the win. Mike, we're in the heat of summer in the thick of July. Tell us what we're heating up tonight, brother.

SPEAKER_01

Well, right now, FIFA's heating up as it's going from the round of 16 down to the round of eight. And we're gonna discuss that a little, even though none of us really knows a whole hell of a lot about soccer, but we're gonna discuss. And baseball. Getting ready for the all-star break in the trade deadline is around the corner. And that's gonna create all kinds of drama within the MLB. And NBA season's over, speaking of drama, and it still has new stories coming out, and still has a lot of drama and impact. And as always, we gotta talk about a little NFL.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh! And you know what thing is funny is I asked if we were gonna talk about the World Cup, and originally you told me no. And here we are, we have a lot to say about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it just kinda can. You know, I I I I hate to say it. Like I started watching the World Cup and it just kind of brought me in.

SPEAKER_00

Back by Brian Demand, we are talking some World Cup, as we did actually sometime before on our podcast. It had to be a couple years ago, keep believing do it a couple years, but before we get rolling, I just want to thank you to our sponsors and partners, okay? Uh Body by D Gym, located in Yorktown and Gloucester. Uh uh owned by Deshaun uh Wright, it's a former bodybuilding champion. Which, by the way, Deshaun, congratulations on uh your performance in Crickets on a Hill. And if you're unfamiliar with that performance, that's actually about, if you give me a moment, I just had it here. Sorry. Doo doo doo doo doo. So Crickets on a Hill uh is based about is a significant battle, uh, and it's based about around America, it has a significant role in America's struggle for independence, uh, as well as the location of Cornwall's surrender in Yorktown. So very uh historical, and Deshaun actually plays Papagerico in this play, Mike, okay. Uh and the last time it was in production in 2018, it was played by a man named Keith Osborne. So this is a very uh prestigious thing. Congratulations, and good job on running your uh gym up there, as well as many great things coming out of your gym, as well as our other friends, uh Kaden and Christian over at Solace Outfitters, uh, and our good friends Mid-Atlantic Territory Wrestling, who by the way have two shows coming up in the next week. A live recording from you guest at Body by D Gym on July 11th, as well as uh Wednesday's show at Madison's County, Madison County Fair uh July 15th during the week next week. So a lot going on with MATW, a lot going on with Body by D Gym, Solace Outfitters, if you follow us, follow their social media, they've been up to quite a bit as well. Uh but I digress on that. Mike, are you ready to go ahead and jump in? By the way, I don't die. Thank you for being our sponsors and partners. I didn't mean to digress. Yeah. I was about to say I got a little I got a little ahead of myself, but thank you for being our sponsors and partners, and we look forward to doing more business with you in the

Remembering Dawson Taylor Local Legacy

SPEAKER_00

future.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, Mike, now let's properly dive in, so well, uh, we're gonna start it off with kind of sad news, but at the same time, it's kind of not sad news. I I don't know. You can you can look at look at it however you wish, but um Dawson Taylor may be a name you haven't heard before, but if you grew up in Virginia Beach or you grew up in the 757, you may have come upon a Taylor Do-It-Yourself center at some point. And Dawson Taylor was the man responsible for starting the Taylor Do-It-Yourself centers around here in Hampton Roads. And unfortunately, he has passed away at 103. Now, that's why I say at 103, that's a darn good run, you know.

SPEAKER_00

That is quite an incredible lifespan. Uh, and sounds like he had a very fulfilling life at that very successful life, Mike. Uh Taylor's really, as you mentioned earlier, withstood some competition and stood its own ground and survived a lot of competition. They're still open to this day. They have multiple locations.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they saw HQ come into this area and come and go, and they're still here. Taylor Do-It-Yourself center is still here. Yeah. A lot of people prefer going to the smaller hardware store where it's you walk in and you're getting service from someone that you know know by name, or they see you coming in, they're like, oh, hey, Dale, what do you need?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and they and they say he was involved uh as well with his customers as well as his company. They they knew him uh around the uh centers as Mr. Taylor. So I thought that was a fun fact too. But may he rest in peace. Uh and our thoughts, our hearts and prayer, I don't I'm slipping today, Mike, but our our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and everybody affected by his passing, and he will surely be missed, uh, especially uh here in our local community, Mike. Um, so but his legacy we'll certainly live on uh via numerous avenues, the biggest one being Taylor's Do It Yourself Center. So exactly, exactly.

World Cup Upsets And Norway Energy

SPEAKER_01

So let's move on in and talk about some FIFA World Cup. And I gotta tell you, I've been really digging not only some of the the festivities with the games, but I've been digging the fans. The fans have been really fun and exciting. And I'm I'm really digging the fact that it all seems to be good vibes. Like there's no good vibes, there's no kind of like harshness. I mean, like it's just it's just been all good. All good. All good. We love all good. Recently we had a game between between Norway and Brazil. How really this past weekend. This past weekend. Oh. And it's a pretty pretty big deal. I mean, Brazil has won their fair share of FIFA World Cups. So didn't they have win the last one? No, they did not. Argentina won. Yes, they did. That's right, yeah. So with that said, you know, the big the big player for Norway is Holland, is their Viking S looking player, yeah who really towers over basically everybody on his team. But he came up in a big way in this game. He really did. Like he scored twice in this game, and one of the goals, he literally shot between a defender's legs who was trying to get in the way, and he still snuck it right between his legs and into the goal. I mean, it was it was such an amazing game. They got the 2-1 win over Brazil, and the thing I love about the Norway team is their fans and how they do the whole Viking row, and when they saw their their team win, they actually showed the fans and Oslo doing that row. Yeah. It was really cool, and I want to make sure that yep, I knew it was gonna do this to me because it liked doing this to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, connect to it, huh? We didn't connect to it. Guys, Mike forgot to connect to the TASCAM. I might even be able to do that. I did not. I did not forget, it just didn't do it. Anyway, I hope you've been following World Cup action like we have, because it has been absolutely wild. And dare I say, uh, if not the best, one of the more entertaining World Cup uh brackets we've seen uh in quite some time. Very exciting stuff, everybody. Um and as I'm sure we'll allude to America's you know performance here soon, but um I have to get off of the Bluetooth apparently. It allows me to kick you off. I don't know why it doesn't let you kick me off.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know why you were kicking me off in the first place. I'm supposed to be connected.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we called PQ, remember? Who, by the way, we will be calling again, not tonight, but at a future date.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, at a future date we will yes, we will be hearing from Mr.

SPEAKER_00

Train once again.

SPEAKER_01

So we hope that you enjoy talking or listening to him. And I'm going to play some audio from the celebration in Oslo.

SPEAKER_00

Speeding up now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Has to be like the coolest celebration. And if you haven't seen this video, it's an entire stadium of people in Oslo just losing their mind because they won.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, this is cra just watching the video, I can feel the energy. Uh, and they start incredibly slow, right? Because at first I was like, hurry, oh god, let's go, you know. But they start getting faster with it. And I was like, man, love to be there right now. Also, never mind, keep going.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

England Beats Mexico Then Gets Hurt

SPEAKER_01

So, as soon as that game was over, we got Mexico and England. And that was an amazing game between two teams that just it it was incredible for the fact that you were getting just amazing play. Like they're the goalie on England, I swear to you, I seen this dude crashing into people off of corner kicks left and right. Just he was on that ball. He was not letting anything get in there as much as he could help it. I mean, this this game was so amazing to watch. The team the the team that ultimately won was England. They got the 3-2 victory over Mexico. But the thing I the thing that Mexico should not be disappointed in, they fought to the very last second. Like they gave it everything they had and fought for everything they could, and it just wasn't enough. I mean, they should hang their heads high. You want you you didn't win, but you lost a very close matchup.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I have a couple things to add to that. By the way, if you're unaware, uh Mexico City Stadium uh is actually higher elevation than Mount Everest. Yeah. So they had a hell of a time going into their house and beating them for that.

SPEAKER_01

And by the way, which, yes, you're right. They did go into their house in Mexico and beat them. That takes a lot of nerves, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I just want to talk to you, and this is more for some of our American comrades, Mike. Those of you who are thrown off by England's flag, okay, the red one, right? Uh, we're used to seeing the Union Jack represented over here in America to represent England. The Union Jack, you know, what I'll refer to as the English version of Stars and Bars, even though they don't really have any stars, um, actually represents a collective of countries known as another than the United Kingdom. I don't mean to start a seventh grade history lesson here, y'all, but if you're unfamiliar, it represents a few countries, notably England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Uh, so they use, but in the World Cup, England competes as England, not as the United Kingdom. So that's why we're seeing England's actual English flag and not the Union Jack flag. Just wanted to clear that up, uh, because I've heard some chatter about that here.

SPEAKER_01

So after England won this game, they did have a small uh in regards to the stadium itself. They had a small section of fans, and you know, obviously when they won the game, a lot of the uh Mexican fans or Mexico fans, they all left, and it kind of left just that section of of England fans. And the players went over and they were singing Wonderwall with their fans. Like they the song was playing and they were singing it with their fans, which was kind of cool. It's kind of their song for this particular uh World Cup. Uh, but the celebration didn't go so well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. No, no, you keep going. I have something totally not related, but it is World Cup related, but you keep going.

SPEAKER_01

So after the whole celebration, Jordan Hen Henderson suffered a serious injury when he was trying to go up and over over a wall or a little, you know, guardrail or whatever, and he fell and hurt himself. I think it's come out that he has a broken arm. I know in this this article that I have it says his wrist was injured, but I think he broke his arm. Um maybe fortunate that it's just a broke arm because I mean it is soccer, so he doesn't really have to use his hands or anything, but still, I mean, we'll see how it affects him playing in the next game, which unfortunate for them, they drew Norway. But Norway is also dealing with a string of people being sick on their team right now, so I it might be the battle of the infirmed in this next game

Spain Rolls And US Crashes Out

SPEAKER_01

between them.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, and I'm I'm waiting for us to get to and I know did we already talk about Spain? I'm having trouble keeping up here. Uh, but you know who's we did not talk about Spain, but if you want to talk about Spain, I do, and uh just on a peripheral, but you know who's having a fun time right now is really Spain, because not only are they competing in the World Cup, but they just had their annual running of the Bulls, okay, which is by the way over 700-year-old tradition. So Spain is amped up through the roof right now, they are ready to partay.

SPEAKER_01

It's a fun city, a fun country. I've I've been to Spain, and let me tell you, they love their sports, and when their team wins, everywhere is going nuts, everybody's happy, everybody's wanting to party.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Although they will still get their siesta. It's the weirdest thing, if you've never seen this. You go over to Spain, and unlike us, you know, we work our full day, whatever, we go home, we go to go to sleep, whatever. They literally in the middle of their day, if you're trying to do something between like one and five, good luck. I mean, because the place basically most places shut down because they go home for siestas.

SPEAKER_00

So, because of my use to American convenience, I probably couldn't live like that. But as an American, seeing that kind of work schedule, I'm kind of like, you know what? I could get down with that.

SPEAKER_01

Hey. They do that and they party hard afterwards.

SPEAKER_00

And everybody knows I love a good party.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

They don't call me Brian with an eye for nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Since you brought up Spain, do you want to talk about Spain and what they did?

SPEAKER_00

I will.

SPEAKER_01

As soon as I figure out where we are in the Well, you brought them up. I didn't have them in here. Because it was kind of a known thing that they No, Mike, I'll let you take this one.

SPEAKER_00

Way to kick it back, huh? Nah. Have you ever seen the dollar passed around so fast? I know. This guy, this guy is. Nobody passes the buck like we do, especially back and forth. I know. It's like an art form.

SPEAKER_01

This dude, this dude sitting here trying to feed me to the wolves, not even wanting to talk about the fact that Spain won their game. Against Belgium.

SPEAKER_00

No, Belgium's who they play next. Oh, well, put my foot in my mouth. You got me. Yes, I did. Talk about catching me off guard there. I'm not a job, sir.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe I should read what's in front of me here. You know, dates are important. Just saying.

SPEAKER_00

Dates are important. Especially romantic dates, everybody. Key in on that. Radio silence is bad, Mike. We can't just sit here. We have to say something. And this is where we get me just talking bootlegge strapped out the side of my ear.

SPEAKER_01

Here's the point I was trying to get to. I finally found the spot. Austria. So they beat Austria three to nothing. Pretty sound sound victory. That's kind of why I didn't put it in because it wasn't really a tight contest.

SPEAKER_00

It literally says KO. It literally says KO next to Austria.

SPEAKER_01

So back on Thursday the 2nd, July 2nd, they won, so they moved on, and they're gonna, since you already acknowledged it, they were gonna face the winner of USA and USA and Okay, I'll I'll fill it in. Belgium. Belgium. Who played on played just the other day.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry, I'm mind-blaging. You can't hit me on the spot like that. I I have been following, but I'm just like, ah, Mike, where are we going? We didn't rehearse this. I don't know if you guys can tell this, but nothing about this show is rehearsed.

SPEAKER_01

Nobody who listens to this thinks for a second that we're rehearsed.

SPEAKER_00

It's all shot from the hit, but could you imagine what kind of talent we have if it was rehearsed? So acting talent.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, Spain beat Austria, and then they beat Portugal on Monday to advance them on in the tournament. There's no KO next to Portugal. No, because it was a one-nothing victory. They didn't they didn't look at it as you got knocked the F out, excuse me. So they move on, leaving them to face whoever won between the United States and Belgium. Now there's been a lot of you know hype and hope over the US team, and for a lot of people they've been like, let's wait. Let's wait and see what happens. You know, I let's not put so much faith in this team. And we've been told over and over again that our weakest point in this team is our goalkeeping. Sure. Fair enough. And I mean, honestly, most of our team, they wind up going and playing elsewhere. You know, they play in other leagues throughout the year, and when World Cup time comes, they come and play with us because let's face it, they have dual citizenship in most of these places, so they go they could go play for another another country. Well, that's how But they don't, because most of the time when they're on the other country, they would be a bench player because they wouldn't they're not good enough to outperform those players. Well, that's why they come here. Just being fair.

SPEAKER_00

I was I was gonna make a point, but then I saw where you're going with this. I was like, okay, cool.

SPEAKER_01

So leading into this game between the US and Belgium, there was a little bit of controversy. And Brian, do you want to tell him about the controversy with a certain player who had to be a part?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, our friend Baladun is not really our friend, but I can consider him a friend, at least until he gives me a reason not to be. Anyway, our friend Baladon was suspended supposedly for stepping on another player's chest uh in the previous matchup. Um, and I guess what was it ended up being a late red card suspension and FIFA's in Dominican Sioux? And right, and FIFA wanted him to serve a one-game suspension, right?

SPEAKER_01

Um, well, this is powers intervened. Powers intervened. We won't name what powers and other suggestions, but we'll just say that FIFA decided, you know what, let him play. So he did. He did wind up playing. But it didn't matter because we got dumped. It was four to one, Belgium over us, and I gotta say, I think I could have dealt with a loss a whole lot better if we showed any fight. Our team looked pathetic. Pulisic was nowhere to be found. The only goal we did score was because of a penalty shot, and we barely had it over on the side of Belgium. You know, we barely put any pressure on their defense whatsoever. So it was a very lacklustered showing for our team that had hope going into it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I just want to say how rare this uh red card suspension withdrawal is. The last time anything that's widely close to that precedent happened was in 1962 when Brazil's star uh Garincha Garintia, sorry, I don't know how to pronounce it, uh, was sent off in the semifinal, but was a what was allowed to play in the World Cup final. There were so I don't know the if that was actually a red card or straight up. I I'm not very well versed with soccer or the history of it, but that's the closest relevant incident. To a red card suspension being lifted. Um. Yeah. So um, and then the most recent one after that, which was not really a red card suspend. This was a disciplinary case with Cristiano Ronaldo. That was actually just a few years ago. So that was in 2022. But that wasn't a similar case. But you know, FIFA does not uh overturn disciplinary actions very often. So I thought that this was the weight of this is really significant in what happened here.

SPEAKER_01

I'm thinking maybe they just felt sorry for us and they were like, look, they're gonna be out next round the next matchup anyway. Let's just go ahead and give them their guy back. Who cares?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm not trying to say anything negative against Trump, but I feel like Trump started to get involved, and they're like, you know what? You knock America out now. Get them out of here.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it had anything to do with that. I think they just they were like, whatever, you can have your player back, you're not beating Belgium.

SPEAKER_00

You guys you guys are terrible anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Here's your good-ish player. To be honest, look, even if we won, we're not gonna beat Spain. Belgium was gonna beat Spain.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, I didn't think we were gonna beat Spain. Spain's been on a roll, and don't be wrong, the US was playing pretty well up until this matchup.

SPEAKER_01

Belgium right now is like a 3,000-1 odd to win it all. So that should tell you something. That the team that has the worst odds to win stomped us, and they're gonna go play Spain, which is one of the teams that's got some of the best odds to go, and they were one of the heavy favorites going into this whole thing.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think I'm gonna put a parlay on both teams.

SPEAKER_01

Speaking of other teams that have favors or favorites to win it all, of course, you're gonna always go to the team that won it last time, which was Argentina.

Argentina Egypt Controversy And Corruption Talk

SPEAKER_01

Argentina had a matchup between them and Egypt uh literally yesterday, and it was met with some controversy because uh Egypt's coach is not happy with how this thing turned out. Right. And yeah, he's almost suggesting that FIFA stands for fix it for Argentina.

SPEAKER_00

No, it stands for fix it Felix Jr.

SPEAKER_01

No, fix it for for Argentina. Anyway, so what happened was Argentina going into this, they got some favorable calls. There was a point where a goal was wiped off that would have put Egypt up 3-0 in this, and it was because one of the Egyptian players was stepped on the foot of a defenseman, preventing him from being able to move and make a play. So they wiped off this goal, very weird, but they were 72 minutes into the 90-minute game, and were up 2-0 until Argentina started to come back. And they for they wound up tying the game, taking it into extra time, and of course the great one, Messi, kicks in a kicks in a game game. Well, he kicked in the game tying goal. I'm pretty sure he got the game winning goal. But I'm not gonna play the rant from the Egyptian coach, but I'm telling you, it's worth listening to because the man is pissed. He is basically like, y'all, y'all fix this for Argentina. Like, this is not you know, that y'all gave him all the breaks in the world.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, soccer football is very, very serious business anywhere but America, okay? So they're very, very upset. But here's the thing.

SPEAKER_01

If you haven't been paying attention to FIFA and you know the world of soccer, if you're confused about it being possibly fixed or bought, you need only to look at how Cutter got the FIFA World Cup at one point, which is a place that it's 120 in the shade at times. They had to play all the games at night in order to even play. So, because you're not gonna have the players out there in the middle of the day in the sun just baking, no, literally baking in the sun.

SPEAKER_00

No, and as a somebody with multiple sclerosis, that sounds like a nightmare to me.

SPEAKER_01

Point of the matter is they the fact that people think that there's you know corruption within the world of soccer, it's nothing new. Like, it's nothing new. Every s every sport has some level of corruption, okay? Or rulings or things that happen that you don't like.

SPEAKER_00

You just hope that sometimes Yeah, they miss calls, they have bad calls, like it's the human element, is what

MLB Bad Calls Plus Verlander Farewell

SPEAKER_00

I call it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm glad you said bad calls, because that leads us right into our next subject, which is we're sliding over to MLB, and we're gonna start by talking about C.B. Buckner and Lance Diaz are among MLB umpires to retire after this season. Oh, yeah. And I don't think that people are gonna be too heartbroken because C.B. Buckner and Lance Diaz are known as two of the worst umpires in baseball.

SPEAKER_00

We have talked about Buckner before.

SPEAKER_01

We have talked about both these guys before. Like they have missed some horrible calls, and it's kind of funny how it coincides with their retirement with the fact that we get the ABS system, and umpires, yeah, they're getting they're getting called out for their bad calls, but I have seen it a few times where people tap the head and like, hey, I want to challenge that, and it's like, sorry, guy, that's a strike. You could tap your head all you want, it's not changing it.

SPEAKER_00

You know, yeah, so yeah, there's there's a line between uh realism and what you want.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, what's actual and what you actually want to have.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's the best way I could put it. I had another way to put it, I lost my words.

SPEAKER_01

Bro, I seen a call the other day where a player tapped his his helmet, and even the announcers are like, what are you doing? Like that's this is clearly a strike. And it was it was like as soon as they showed on the board, the guy just like turned and walked off stage like that. It's like, no, no, that was dumb. I shouldn't have done that. But always wait for the replay. Since we're talking about people calling it a career, uh came out today. Another local. Uh well, he went to he went to college at Old Dominion, right? Played baseball for him. Justin Verlander, after a pretty lengthy career, is gonna call it a career after this season. And it's it's kind of sad to see because he's not the player he once was, because at his best, you know, he's he's like right now, I think, eighth all-time in strikeouts. Right. And that's saying something giving as many players as we've had throughout it'll be history to be eighth on that list. But he's a multi-time all-star. He's he's won World Series, and he's just had one hell of a career, you know. It just it's it's sad to see him go, but you know, when you know, you know. Hey, at least he's going out on his terms. Yes. That's and and ultimately you you would hope that that's what's gonna happen because it doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes the phone just stops ringing and you stop getting chances. Yeah, I mean, uh there's a sometimes the game quits you after you quit the game.

SPEAKER_00

I think that percentile is in the 88 percentile, maybe even higher, because how many people across sports get injured and they're done? Or, like you say, they stop getting calls and they're done, or they get cut and they're done. Something happens off field, they gotta step away from the game, they never come back, right? Like very few athletes across all sports ever get to go out on their own terms. So I really uh commend the ones who are able to say, you know what, I'm done, I've had a great career, and it's time for the next phase of my life.

Rangers Beer Record And Braves Singalong

SPEAKER_01

Well, since we just passed July 4th, and everybody likes to do things on July 4th and party and whatnot. I know I do. So what are some things you associate with July 4th? Like what are what are some things that you almost expect to happen on July 4th?

SPEAKER_00

Red, white, and blue jello shots.

SPEAKER_01

No. I mean, yeah, you you could have jello shots, but it's not it's not okay. You expect fireworks, right?

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say fireworks, but jello shots was way higher than fireworks.

SPEAKER_01

You expect maybe some grillin' and maybe an adult beverage or two.

SPEAKER_00

Just call it a beer.

SPEAKER_01

Or a shot. Not everybody drinks beer. Some people like drinking liquor.

SPEAKER_00

You know, they have alcohol-free beer, which I detest as not real beer, but we can call it that if it makes you feel better.

SPEAKER_01

Look, it's a good thing for people who are trying not to drink anymore and they still like having a drink with friends. It's only a name. They can Right, but they can go out and have a drink and not be drinking. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

It's like buying a Corvette.

SPEAKER_01

You're just paying for a name. The point of the matter is you totally derailed this this segue, was segment. Segway. Move into a new.

SPEAKER_00

We're transitioning. Sorry, I can't say that, I don't think.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, I was trying to get to the point where the an MLB team took July 4th to set a world record for largest glass of beer, and that team was the Texas Rangers. You know, this is right up my alley. And this is why I was trying to get you to say, maybe have a beer. I literally said jello shots.

SPEAKER_00

We were close.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, beer, dude. Come on. Sorry, 4th of July. Anyway, getting back on track here. So the Rangers set up this beer stein. It was a Budweiser beer stein that stood 12 feet tall, and they filled up with 2,415 liters or 638 gallons of Budweiser on that day. Don't forget to turn the foot at the end. Well, it's not that kind of. It's not a it's not Das But. It's not Das Boots. It's a it's a Bierstein. Whatever. Has a lid.

SPEAKER_00

So it's Bill Stein's face in the face of it.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, it's kind of a cool thing. If you get a chance, go check out the picture of the enormous bierstein. I'm sure every guy who was of age standing around it was probably going, I want to, I want some.

SPEAKER_00

Bueller.

SPEAKER_01

Can I have some? Bueller. But like we discussed earlier with soccer and how you know they kind of had their moment with these teams having their songs or their celebrations. There was an interesting moment in the Atlanta Braves game the other day where they had a moment where there was Country Road playing for the stadium, and the entire stadium is singing along, enjoying enjoying the song, when you know Matt Olsen, who was at bat, he winds up as soon as they're done singing, hitting a home run to right field, and on the second deck. I mean, it was it was a no-doubter. I mean, the outfielders didn't even turn. They were just like, yep, that's gone. So kind of a cool moment, especially being in the Braves' home stadium, to launch a home run after the fans had just gotten done singing Country Road coming.

SPEAKER_00

Uh take me home. Yeah, that song.

SPEAKER_01

To the place.

SPEAKER_02

Hello, Casmita.

SPEAKER_01

I'll save everybody.

SPEAKER_00

Mute you. Well, they still hear me on your mic. Anyway. I was heard somewhere. Little less heard. Anyway. Don't be a hate They hate me because they ate me.

SPEAKER_01

From a from a cool moment to kind of a what were you thinking

Pitch Count Anger And Wild MLB Stats

SPEAKER_01

moment. I've had a few of these. So the Florida Marlins, they had a they were having a great moment where a young pitcher of theirs was coming into his own. He was having He was having a stellar game. Stella. And that and I love doing this to Brian. Right there in blue. What's his name?

SPEAKER_00

Miami Marlins. Sorry. Yuri Perez. Pierce. You did well.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. Yes. Yuri Perez. So Yuri Perez had a perfect game through seven innings. Yes. And instead of keeping him in, his manager decided, nah, we'll pull him out. Well, that was the wrong decision. Because they nearly lost this game against the Athletics where the final score was nine to eight. So they had this game in the bag, but they said, you know what? Nah, we're gonna pull our young starter. We're gonna start bringing in these guys from the pin. The pin nearly gave the game away. They still got the victory, but you had a perfect game.

SPEAKER_00

So wait a minute, why did they pull him again? Is it because he hit his pitch count or something?

SPEAKER_01

Unfortunately, we have this where pitch count kind of matters to some people. Yeah. And I don't know. If you got a game where the guy's perfect through seven, leave him in.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Screw the pitch count. Forget long-term health and wear and tear. We want to win. No, screw the pitch count. Let the guy no, let the guy get a perfect game. I agree.

SPEAKER_00

If he's if he's on fire the way he was, I think you should allow him to keep going.

SPEAKER_01

They nearly screwed it up. You know?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I think if it's a situation like this and you're red hot, I'm like, yeah, I'm leaving him in, bro.

SPEAKER_01

So this year, Junior Camonero is having a stellar year, and he's been coming out here lately where he had six games straight with a home run. He has 22 on the season. So he's having an amazing year. No doubt probably going to be in the All-Star game, because he deserves it. So from good performance to bad performance, how about these Yanks? How about them Yanks? They're becoming the pin strikes instead of the pin stripes. The pinks with strikes. With the way that they played the other day. I like what you did there. They became the second team in MLB history to have 17 strikeouts in a game. Now, let me point out the fact that there's only 27 ounce. Only 27 ounce in a regular nine-inning game. So you had 17 strikeouts. So they lost 6-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. And this is just insane. How do you strike out 17 times? You know? And it's it's not something you want to do is tie a team like the Rockies when they were doing horrible. They were the other team that did this.

SPEAKER_00

By the way, um they did it in back-to-back games.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So yes. Again, they're doing horrible.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Quite a ways to fall given the last couple years have been relatively um competitive. Uh so no, I was looking for a stat. I think the last team to do that was the Royals or come close to that. I was looking for the stat, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I'm pretty, I'm pretty sure the the Rockies was the last team to do it. Oh in their really horrible season. Um Yeah, you might be right.

SPEAKER_00

The ravines is like to call them.

SPEAKER_01

It used to be that we would have these incredibly long games when we would go into extras, where it wouldn't be uncommon to see, you know, 18 plus you know, maybe 18 innings or plus that, because it would just be hard. But now that they've moved to the position where you're gonna have a runner already on second, we very rarely have these really long games. But we were treated to one the other day between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers. Uh where in the 18th inning on Tuesday, Milwaukee Brewers player Jackson Cherrios, or Cheerios. He comes up to bat and he decides I'm gonna bat left-handed. Why not? He's not left-handed. He's a right-handed batter. He just decided, screw it, I'm gonna bat left-handed. And to his credit, he got up there and batted left-handed, and he hit the ball. Granted, it went to an outfielder, but he hit it 360 feet from the left-hand side. He doesn't bat left-handed, you know, so it's kind of cool. He was just like, screw it, maybe this will work. But it didn't, unfortunately. So moving on, moving on to the terrible moving on to the next encounter.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, speak of the devil and he will appear. You mentioned the royals. Unfortunately.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not unfortunately.

SPEAKER_00

I actually kinda like the royals, I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, despite Brian's slander against the Royals.

SPEAKER_00

I actually just said I like them after I said forget them. If anything, I am neutral. Okay. Switzerland over here.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, so they're they have a player on the team, Tyler Tolbert, who may be on the precipice of doing something that really has not been done in quite some time. Uh so right now he stands tied with a record of hit hitting the ball 12 straight times. So he's been on plate, been up to bat 12 times, and has gotten on base 12 times. So if he gets to 13, he's going to break the record for being on base 13 times in a row. So they you know accomplished this feat in a game against the the uh Phillies, where the final outcome was 16-12. So I mean, I guess no defense being played there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the Phillies, another what would have been a competitive team. So oh, my bad.

SPEAKER_01

Not the Phillies. He did this against the well, he did do it, did k extend it against the Phillies, but he got to the point where he tied it against the Mets. My bad. My bad. Well, yeah, the Mets City Field is where they were playing.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, the Mets are another good competitive team, so he's racking up well they're not.

SPEAKER_01

Not this year.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, not this year, but you know, historically, but things change fast, obviously in sports, especially baseball, but you know.

SPEAKER_01

So from one good Come on, Mookie Betts. From from one good to the next. Brian, can you give me this player's name? Helior Ramos. Sure, I'll take that. So Ramos of the Giants. Let's call him Ramos. He Rome He had a pretty stellar game the other day, and it was against the Blue Jays where he cracked not one, not two, but three home runs. Nice. Giving the Giants a 10 to 1 opening series victory, which the Giants have not been so great this year. I mean, they're talking about possibly being sellers at the deadline. But I thought that was gonna be our cool performance of this segment. But he got out, he got outshone by a pirates player. And not only a pirates player, but former Norfolk Tide. That player. Come on, Brian. Oh, we know this one. Ryan O'Hearn! Come on down. Ryan O'Hearn hit three home runs against the Atlanta Braves in Pittsburgh and accounted for ten RBIs. Now, not only is this a cool feat in itself, but he set a record. He accounted for the first ten runs for the Pirates in this game.

SPEAKER_00

Pirates.

SPEAKER_01

I like the Pirates. Nobody in the history of baseball has done this feat. So he stands alone as the only player accounting for 10 the first 10 runs for his team. And he's from right here in the 7 5 7.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he played here in the 7 5 7.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we claim him anyway. You know, there's a lot of great players that come out of this area, and I'm not gonna toot our own horns here, but that's what she said.

SPEAKER_01

Another milestone was hit. By Mr. Shohei Otani. We're familiar with Shohei Otani. He hit his 300th home run for his career. Now, this is not counting the home runs he hit over in Japan while he was playing professionally over there. This is just in America. In the MLB. Yes. In the MLB, he has 300 home runs. This is crazy to me. Already. He's a young player. He's only been around a few years. Well, he's young-ish.

All Star Starters And Biggest Snubs

SPEAKER_01

He could still if he can keep it going, you might see him somewhere in the uh annals of time up there with the home run greats.

SPEAKER_00

In the annals of time.

SPEAKER_01

No, sir. Anyway, so moving right along, since we had mentioned earlier that the MLB All-Star game is coming up, uh we thought it'd be kind of cool to talk about really who is in, who is out as far as the MLB All-Star game.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, go ahead, Mike. Let's go talk about these people.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. So starting over here in the American League s American League, we will talk about the starting lineup players. So for the starting lineup players at Ketcher will be Shane Langelier, former Braves player who was traded to the Athletics. And at first base, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be the first baseman. He comes to the Blue Jays. Another Blue Jays player will be coming to play second base, and that's Ernie Clement. Moving over to third base, Junior Camonero of the Rays, like we said, he made his way in. Starting at shortstop will be Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, good pick there.

SPEAKER_01

Outfielder Mike Trout of the Angels will may be in the outfield. Outfielder Byron Fox Byron Box. Yeah. Well, he's he's listed as the starter, but I know he got hurt the other day in a game, so we'll see if he actually does play. And then outfielder Aaron Judge of the Yankees is the third outfielder and designated hitter will be Jordan Alvarez of the Astros, who's having an amazing year. Right. Coming over to the National League, starting at catcher, will be Drake Baldwin of the Braves. And starting at first base will be Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers. Starting at second base will be Ozzie Albies of the Braves. Starting at shortstop, or no, third base, sorry, third base, will be Max Muncie of the Dodgers. Starting at shortstop will be CJ Abrams Abrams of the Nationals. Of the Nationals. And then Brandon Marsh of the Phillies. And starting, or is one of the outfielders. Juan Soto will be the only represent representative of the Mets playing outfield for the starting lineup. And Andy Paez of the Dodgers will be the other outfielder. The designated hitter, Shohei Otani of the Dodgers.

SPEAKER_00

Let me tell you what, this is a who's who lineup. If you're just getting into baseball, go to this list and look these players up and watch them play this game, okay? You will surely increase your baseball knowledge and acumen by miles.

SPEAKER_01

So with that being said, we have a few players that kind of bring up the snubbed list, like players that should be getting the nod and be in there. Uh, one of which that is kind of getting a little, you know, no love here. Bryce Tarang of the Milwaukee Brewers, who's having an amazing year. He is not gonna be in the starting lineup for Robiski. Justin, oh, never mind. Coming over to the American League, Wilson Contreras is another guy who's kind of getting snubbed. He's having an amazing year for the Red Sox, but he's getting no love.

SPEAKER_00

He's you know, that's that's one I thought you would see on the list, but you know.

SPEAKER_01

And kind of a you know, lesser-known name, but Davis Martin of the Chicago White Sox is another player not getting much love. But the one that I really thought would be in here and really could have a good argument for being a starter for the National League would be Brandon Lau of the Pirates. Right now, is it not Lowe? No, it's Lau. Lowe's. He's batting. He's batting 249, but he has 21 home runs and 64 IRPIs already. And just to added note for us, he's from Suffolk, Suffolk, Virginia. Suffolk. So kind of like Norfolk. We kind of like to see our local boys get some love, but they're not getting any love here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And, you know, once again, another great player, obviously not probably born and raised here in 757, but coming out of 757. Um born and raised here. Oh, okay. He was born and raised here. Yeah, well, he's in Suffolk, so yeah. Good, yeah, Suffolk. Suffolk. Yo, Suffolk boys, yeah, country boy. I like Suffolk. They're some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, some of the most hospitable people you'll ever meet. You know, Bruno Mars got stranded in Suffolk, and they helped him with his car, they gave him food, like they did a bunch of stuff for him when he was passing through one time. I remember reading about it a long time ago. And so I thought that was cool. The people of Suffolk got the chill of Bruno Mars for a day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and that's not the complete list of all-stars. There's obviously going to be alternates and other players who will be in the all-star game. Um, definitely check it out. There there also will probably be some players to get swapped out if somebody gets hurt and you know they'll get the nod. So hopefully, maybe Brandon might still get in there.

SPEAKER_00

Hopefully, sitting on sitting on what pinwheels. I don't know, continue. I was gonna say something. Oh lord. It's not been a good episode for me. I'm slipping.

SPEAKER_01

So, moving away from that and into this interesting article I saw.

Worst Draft Picks And What They Teach

SPEAKER_01

Uh, there was this article that comes from Fan Sided, where they talk about the worst MLB draft picks in of the history of each team. Like, you know, say like if we were to say the Arizona Diamondbacks, they say that the worst pick they ever made was Corey Myers, who was drafted in 1999, fourth overall, and the highest level he ever reached was Triple A. Triple A. So, with that said, we thought it'd be kind of cool to look at a couple of these and discuss kind of whether or not it's fair to say that they were a snub or not. So, going down to the athletics, this one's kind of should be a familiar name, but not because of baseball. Uh sorry, I gotta laugh at this one. Outfielder Kyler Murray. And yes, it is that Kyler Murray uh that you're thinking of. And he was drafted in 2018, number nine overall, by the athletics, and never played. And as a matter of fact, when you go down and look at highest level reach, it says NFL.

SPEAKER_00

So, I mean, he's uh you know, he might just he might want to consider going ahead and jumping sports while he's got the opportunity. I know Russell Wilson was drafted by the Rangers, and I'm eager to see if he shows anyway. No, he's not in there.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, going to some of these other picks that are that are kind of an interesting dynamic, like why it they made the list. Um, the Atlanta Braves, they drafted a right-handed pitcher by the name of Carter Stewart back in 2018, number eight overall, so just ahead of Kyler Murray. And the highest level he reached, they list is Japan. And the reason being is at the time when the Braves drafted him, they were drafting him on potential, and he had some injury history, so they were worried that the injuries might plague him. So he said, nuts to that, you're not signing me to a low contract. I'm gonna go play over in Japan. And he did, and he has been. So don't know if he'll ever come back, but you know, that's where he went. Hey, play on your level, I guess. So just thought it'd be kind of cool to hit a couple of these, and I'm obviously not gonna go through all 32 teams. Right. But there were there were names that kind of stuck out that that or reasons that players stuck out. Courtney Hawkins.

SPEAKER_00

Just naming players on the list here.

SPEAKER_01

Brady Aiken. So for the Colorado Rockies, right hand right-handed pitcher Greg Reynolds. I literally almost said that one next. He was drafted in 2006, second overall, and highest reached, he reached the MLB, but his ERA was 7.47. That's bad. That is incredibly bad. Now, the Detroit Tigers, theirs was a right-handed relief pitcher, Matt Anderson. Now, in 1997, they drafted him number one overall. Highest level reach was MLB. So you would ask, why is this a bad pick? Because he was a relief pitcher, and you never draft a relief pitcher one overall. You have your choice of anything. Outfielder, third baseman, first baseman, catcher, shortstop, any position player, and you choose a reliever.

SPEAKER_00

He basically had one good year in Detroit, from what I understand, and he just couldn't replicate that.

SPEAKER_01

Ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Just ridiculous. Yeah, and we'll post this on our social media.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's uh there's one other one other one I wanted to discuss.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

Because the name, when I say it, you're gonna you're gonna be like, well, why would he be a bust? But it it makes total sense when you find out why. And where is he? He's here somewhere. There we go. Okay. So the Tampa Bay Rays, they're on this list, and for some people, they might not even associate this player with the Tampa Bay Rays, but Josh Hamilton was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 1999, number one overall, highest level reached, obviously MLB. Now you might be saying, well, why is this a bad pick? Because he was actually a pretty decent player. Well, he never played a single game for the Tampa Bay Rays. He actually had plenty of talent. We all know this because if you remember, he won home run derbies, he wasn't all-star many times, but uh he was in a car crash, which eventually led to his drug addiction, which got him booted out of being part of the Rays organization, and he went over to the Texas Rangers, where he eventually won an MVP award and played a number of years in the MLB, but never for the Rays. So you draft a guy, number one overall, and he never plays a single play for you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I I feel bad for him with the car crash incident and the substance abuse. Uh, you know, that's just I know he has you we make decisions alive, but that's just a bad stroke of luck and decision making right there.

SPEAKER_01

But out of most of the people on this list, he's one of the names that when you hear it, you go, Oh yeah, I remember him. But it's the mere fact that he never panned out for them, is why it's on the line.

SPEAKER_00

And he he probably never really reached the climax of his talent after that card coach either.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, he was an MVP. I mean, there's not much higher than that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that just goes to show how talented he probably was. Like, I would have loved to see him at full performance on the raid to the substances.

SPEAKER_01

You wonder what could have been. You know, there's a lot of those through the years.

SPEAKER_00

And then the injury, the lingering injuries and effects of the car crash.

SPEAKER_01

So well, he did have some injury history, but it it didn't really his personality and the drugs is what really dampered his career.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But he did give us some memorable moments. There was that that home run derby where he launched like 28 home runs in his his turn. So he had he had some performances that were memorable.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yes.

SPEAKER_01

So for him, probably still a pretty darn good career.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'd say still probably I don't know if he really belongs on this list, but obviously for the Rays, he's a bust. For the Rays, he's a bust. But as a player, I wouldn't label him as a player bust.

NBA Retirement News And Mega Trades

SPEAKER_01

But so rolling on over into the NBA, uh, we got word that Kyle Lowry is going to call it a career after 20 years in the NBA, which only a handful of players can make that distinction of playing 20 years in the NBA. So he's on a short list. And for his career, he has some alright numbers at you know, overall for his career. If this thing will pull up, here we go. Alright, so for his career, he he's got an average of 17.5 points per game, 7.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game for his career. So not bad numbers, really. I mean, because obviously it's an average, so he's he's gonna have had games better, some games worse, but overall, those are pretty steady numbers.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If you tell me right now that if I'm drafting a player and that's what I'm getting out of him, yeah, yeah, most teams would take that. So congratulations to him. Brian, you clued me in on this. Tell me about this trade that happened between six different teams.

SPEAKER_00

So there was a massive six-team trade in the NBA. Uh actually, just a few days ago. This is this report is from ESPN July 7th, but I think it was maybe a day or so before that. Uh, the biggest takeaway being that Chris Middleton is headed back to the Wizards for a second stint. Uh, if you bear with me for a moment, I'm just gonna just breeze through this because I don't know from memory all the details of this. Uh six teams involved. But there are six teams involved, it's kind of convoluted. But Washington sends D'Angelo Russell, a 2029 second rounder, a 2032 second, bro. These guys are trading picks in the 2030s already. And if I mean NFL needs to catch up, second round picks don't care, they don't care. But yeah, a 2032 second round swap, and this is um there's a there's another interesting thing coming up. I point out um and a 2023 second round pick to Memphis, okay? So that's Washington going to Memphis. Dallas also includes a 2033 second-round pick selection with Middleton to Washington. So Memphis and Washington, oh sorry, Memphis and Dallas are sending picks and players to Washington. Also in the trade, Detroit sends uh Chris LeVer and two second-round picks to the Bucks for uh Teron Prince and Gary Harris. That deal creates a trade exception for the Pistons as well as cap savings. All three players are on expiring deals, by the way. Uh other moves that were previously agreed upon are also involved in that deal. Detroit sends Marcus Sasser to Dallas, okay. Isaiah Stewart, by the way, popular name we've mentioned here, uh going to Memphis, and a protected 2020 second round pick to the Clippers, okay? Memphis trades Santee Aldama and the draft rights. This is what I think is interesting right here, and the draft rights to Tariq Biberick to Dallas and three second round picks. Uh 29 second most favorable of Detroit's New York's and Milwaukee's 2031 and 2032 to Detroit. Okay, so now you're trading the rights to draft a specific player to another team. Okay. Happens all the time. This is incredible. Uh the Clippers trade John Collins to Detroit and uh and some cash to Milwaukee. Uh Dallas also trades AJ Johnson uh to Memphis and a 2030 conditional first round pick and a 2029 second round selection to Memphis. Alright, by the way, so that's it in a nutshell. Livera signs a two-deal two-year deal worth $29 million with Detroit last offseason. Uh blah blah blah blah. Sorry, this is just jabber, jabber jaw, jabber jaw, jabber jaw. Anyway, colossal trade, a lot of moving parts, Mike. I couldn't have memorized it if I tried.

SPEAKER_01

Pistons, Mavs, Wizards, Clippers, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Dallas. Dallas.

SPEAKER_00

So all six of those teams having trade reports.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I did say Mavs, and that's Dallas, but you did say Mavs, Dallas.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, so what the Wizards.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you still have to do that. Hey, just a lot, a lot to spin your head around.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so so now as you trade with one team, you're having trade implications with multiple teams. The NBA is deep in this transactionary period.

SPEAKER_01

There are so many players moving and things happening, and we're just going to touch on some of them. So, since we know that Robinson left the Knicks and went to the Celtics, they had to find somebody to be the replacement to Robinson, and they found Andre Drummond, who they reached a one-year $3.9 million deal for him to come play with the Knicks. I think it's a good pickup. That is a good pickup for them. Solid, solid veteran pickup. I feel like that it's good good for them.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

And then uh DeMar DeRozan, who has been with the Kings last year, the Kings waived him, allowing him to hit free agency. So now DeRozan's gonna be able to go wherever he feels his services need to go, which is not a bad deal for him. And he's a good player, so we'll see where he winds up. He'll get picked up. Somebody's gonna want him. But the most surprising thing that happened this past week, and by now everybody knows what has happened in this particular trade, but it's still kind of interesting to talk about, and that's the fact that the Boston Celtics decided to go ahead and trade away Jalen Brown to a team within their own conference. They said, Alright, it's cool, we're gonna trade you to the Sixers. By the way, for Paul George. Yes. I mean, there's there's other stuff in the role. There's uh yeah, there's other jargon. Yeah. Jalen Brown goes goes to the Sixers, and they the Sixers are sending Paul George two first round picks. Uh, those first round picks will be in 2028 and 2031, uh, two second round selections in 2028 and 2030 to complete the deal with Boston. So, I mean, I get why they did it. I mean, really, it sending Paul George helps clear up some cap for the Sixers, and they get presumably a top 50 player in the NBA, uh, who's ready to go now, you know, fit probably will fit in good with the stars they already have. So, I mean, it kind of it kind of came to the case. I think that's a good sign.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's a good signing for them.

SPEAKER_01

They had to trade them, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it was kind of like when you're always sitting here potentially looking to move this guy, and then you know, he's like, What the hell? Why'd you bring my name into this? On every single trade, you start to get the impression they don't want you, right? Well, maybe well sorry. Well, it's it it's like if you go out if you go out with a with a girl and she keeps looking at other dudes and talking with other dudes, you're gonna feel some some kind of way about it, right? Well, so what does Jalen Brown feel some kind of way that you keep putting his name out there?

SPEAKER_00

Well, hold on. I see what you're saying, and I don't disagree. Uh, but maybe Jalen Brown is the only tradable asset that they have, and they they need to do something.

SPEAKER_01

They have him and Jason Tatum. They could have traded each other.

SPEAKER_00

But are you gonna get rid of Tatum? I mean, Jalen Brown's good too. But if you've got two of them side by side, are you really gonna let Tatum walk out the door? Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Tatum just came off of a torn Achilles.

SPEAKER_00

This is true.

SPEAKER_01

He is a good player, but you just watched your your boy Jalen Brown.

SPEAKER_00

play outstanding and help get your team that we thought this was a lost year get your team into the playoffs yeah so you know he's good but yeah but they're they're stacked so maybe he's healthy and he's healthy and I agree like you do want to keep a player like that but maybe they just feel like he's their most movable asset and I don't think that's a knock on him. It might be to the point where you just burn the bridge so much you have to move him. That could be it as well. It could be both in my opinion you know like two things can be true.

SPEAKER_01

It could be a compliment it could be a diss it could be both I know one player's not feeling dissed right now and that's Donovan Mitchell. He just got a max deal of 273 million dollar extension for four years from the Cavs. By the way hell of a signing for them well he's their best player pretty much and yeah that's why I said hell of a signing for them so part of part of the reason that would be why well part of the reason that they went ahead and got this done is they're they got to figure out their money and figure out their situation because there's been a lot of you know kind of eyeing possibly a reunion with LeBron and bringing him back in his age for 41 season.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's interesting that you kind of mentioned this because Golden State until this conversation started was really the only one in the rumor mill for LeBron. Not true they've also had you know the Sixers eyeing him Miami talking about it. Well yeah Miami was kind of a long shot they were teetering but with this transaction I believe now the Sixers are seriously trying to go after LeBron they're seriously in the conversation they haven't signed James Harden and James Harden is holding off to see what LeBron does because there's kind of a you know thought I've heard it said that he doesn't want to play with James Harden but well there I you know I'm not I like James Harden.

SPEAKER_01

He's one of my favorite players in the NBA but LeBron they're not even the same they're nowhere near the same player right um LeBron is still one one actually makes it to the NBA finals and the other doesn't.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah and LeBron is still performing really well for where he's at in his career and James Harden has kind of slipped a little bit here in the last couple seasons uh notably this last season actually so I I see a little bit where he's coming from but at the same time I'm kind of like well if you paired LeBron and Harden along with the rest of the team they have over there Yeah I think it's gonna be one of those where he's gotta he's gotta get him where he fits in with the team where they can sit there and they can make it work.

SPEAKER_01

You know he he doesn't he has to go somewhere where he's not the guy he's just one of the guys you know what I mean yeah it's not and and LeBron wants to be the guy and I that's another thing I feel like is he's he doesn't want to be the only guy though. Well yeah he wants help but like I mean he wants to be somewhere where if he needs to take some time resting to be the savior now have have that's done now he can't do that anymore. As we focus on him potentially joining the Sixers are the Lakers hitting the reset button they are but they've been they've been making some good moves some smart moves in my opinion to aid their team in in ways that they didn't have you know when you go out and get a center that fills the big man need that your star Luca wants you're you're creating a how how do I put it it's like you're you're making it to where the team has flexibility not only in the roster but you're also making it to where you can eventually move pieces and have flexibility if you sign LeBron back on a big deal you have no flexibility.

SPEAKER_00

No I I agree with you and at this point I think LeBron's just making a world tour I don't know about a world tour button I think I think he's just making a world tour. Like he knows his name brings a ton of merchandise sales a ton of ticket sales a ton of TV ratings.

SPEAKER_01

Well Walker Kessler was the player from the Utah Jazz that went to the Lakers and he fills a a need for them. I mean he's not he's not the you know big name everybody's expecting for the Lakers to do you know like what we've seen in the past with them making big signings. But he's he's a solid player that can fill a big need for them. But speaking of teams like the Lakers making moves and trades they wound up trading DeAndre Aiden to the Wizards and in return the Wizards trade traded Jaden Hardy and two second round picks one in 2030 and 2032 back to the Lakers. So like I said the Lakers have been making moves they've been making additions and subtractions.

SPEAKER_00

They Aiden really just didn't he wasn't what they hoped for in a in the player that he he was being for them well one of the easiest turnarounds in sports is to rebuild a basketball team like you have low staff you get a couple good players you make a good run.

SPEAKER_01

It used to be it used to be but yeah I still think I still think it is but I don't think it is because you've got to do the salary matches now where they have to be comparable in salary to do the trade and then you also have to sit there and worry about you know second aprons and supermaxes and you can't have two supermaxes and okay yeah I give you I give you a good point the mechanics behind the NBA makes it more complicated but now in theory the reason that these teams are shifting things around is they've looked at what the what's gone on with uh OKC where they built a lot of it through drafts and trades yes you know but they made smart drafts and trades you know like it's you know they traded away Paul George and that's how they got SGA they took SGA from the Clippers because he was on the Clippers. And now Paul George again being moved for another big play honestly I like I like SGA over there now. Maybe I'm looking at this all wrong for the Boston Celtics maybe the key is you get Paul George he plays for you for a year and then you trade him for an amazing talent that comes back to you. So maybe that's the key. Maybe they can get SGA next no they'll find next SGA out of the amazing trades. This is true. But talking about you know amazing things happening and since we did bring up the Wizards it's kind of an interesting note that Patrick Ewing will be joining the Wizards staff as an assistant coach. Okay. So now Patrick Ewing he has been involved with teams in the past like he was involved with with the Orlando Magics for a little bit uh in a in a office type role and he was involved with Georgetown his former alma mater uh coaching a little bit there yes assistant coaching I think uh and now he's making his way back into the NBA as an assistant coach and I mean come on you got Patrick Ewing as a coach I mean instant credibility because he was a former player and I guarantee you these young players especially the bigs can definitely learn something from him well there's and I say it no matter what your career profession is there's just something to be said for experience okay you can go to school you can get all the training you want all right you can practice but at the end of the day when you bring real world experience real life experience real in-game experience okay this is the difference between in my opinion uh great leaders and okay

NFL Players Coaching And Pope Jersey Gift

SPEAKER_01

leaders okay I am so glad you said it that way because that leads me into this topic as we yes throw this on over into the NFL where right now there are a hundred and twenty eight former NFL players coaching at the high school level yes players like Philip Rivers Carson Palmer among some of those names is Teddy Bridgewater going back or is he still in the NFL level I think he's still in the NFL okay but the point of the matter is they're using their experience to become coaches and not saying these guys have lofty dreams to become NFL coach coaches but the fact that they're transitioning their knowledge to the younger generation is is a is a big thing like you're you're seeing the giving back from the gain of being a pro player and giving that knowledge to the younger generation to then help them pursue their aspirations of being an NFL player.

SPEAKER_00

So this is how generational development works okay the people who were at the highest level of performance are now teaching the people who were at the lowest level of performance okay this is how starting out I wouldn't say lowest level they're starting out they're starting out but you you know what I mean right and I'm not saying that negatively right you're now giving these younger players and it's now this level of knowledge is now more widely available okay because there are 128 NFL players now coaching at lower levels knowledge and talent is being passed on at a lower level and is being developed on a longer scale okay well you gotta hope that talent is there in the first place this is you can't just show up and be taught and all of a sudden be playing like one of the grades. You're right but you teach the group and hopefully you get one or two out of the group who do really well right this is how talent evaluation works. But I'm not going there with that oh to me this is like building a business this is like building a follow this is like developing a product okay this is how you take the next step forward in your evolution okay as good as the players are that we're watching now Mike and it this can apply to any sport as good as the players we're watching now these young kids when they come up are going to be better because now they've had access to knowledge talent and experience that was not previously available to them before.

SPEAKER_01

And advice and advice yes advice because you know a lot of times these kids they move on but they might still call their coach and be like hey what do I do here? Plus plus look at the sticker shock oh man I got I went to Carson Palmer's quarterback camp this summer I'm gonna play football for the rest of my life like imagine imagine that kind of value I look I know I know it's Carson Palmer no no no I'm just like the the aspirations that somebody is going to go go to these camps and then they're gonna play football the rest of their life like let's let's understand something you do not have that high of a chance of actually making it to the NFL I mean college if your aspiration is get to college play some college ball get yourself an education 100% you probably could benefit in that way. Yes but if your aspiration is to get to the NFL remember you've got an entire nation full of kids that want to be a quarterback of NFL team and there is only 32 teams that have a starting NFL quarterback and then a backup quarterback so that's 64 quarterbacks altogether and then maybe a handful of them carrying a third quarterback so the odds of you being a starting quarterback or even a backup quarterback in the NFL extremely low.

SPEAKER_00

You actually have higher odds of being mauled by a black bear and a polar bear in the same day but I digress on that and I I see what Mike is saying but that's not the point that I was trying to make although it was a very good point. When I say play for the rest of your life right you go to a you go to a hang on I I'm sorry to cut you off but I want to I want to make it clear I'm not saying you shouldn't try no no certain certainly try but understand have a backup well hear me out here and I'm not saying that you're saying that either I'm not disagreeing with anything you said at all Mike I think you made a very good point about the likelihood of becoming a professional ball player okay that's a reality everybody needs to understand but what I'm saying is you go to a football coach you go to a football camp you're in the seventh grade it's put on by Joe Schmoe who grew up in the area he's the local high school coach blah blah blah blah okay cool I got some talent I got some experience I got some knowledge cool I'm gonna go try to get the starting job wherever the hell I go now you go to Phillip Rivers football camp man I just went to Phillip Rivers you're not just hyped up who cares if you didn't learn anything man I went to Phillip Rivers camp now you're hyped up on the game of football okay you're excited you might not be a great player you might not have even got better at this camp but you now want to play football and maybe even teach it when you reach that point in your life I don't know that you want to uh necessarily learn Philip Rivers throwing motion at all because it was one of the wonkiest throwing motions it worked for him it was it was but jokes aside I'm talking about name value right when you put somebody who's got I'll just say it name image and likeness who's got NIL to their name right that carries value to some of these kids okay maybe to some of these people it changes their level of motivation but I I don't want to go too deep into that I think you all understand what both me and Mike have said here in uh this evening so moving on to I mean we've we've brought up the Pope a few times in this but you know people people because the Pope is from Chicago and he's already said he's a White Sox fan so you could safely assume that he's a Bears fan if he likes football and the difference in American Pope.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway so he got a pretty neat gift if he's a Bears fan quarterback Caleb Williams gifted the Pope an autographed jersey of his and I gotta think you know if if I was a Bears fan which the Pope probably is and I received a starting quarterback signed jersey I'd probably think that's pretty cool. You know I mean albeit you know Caleb Williams can be a little corny at times.

SPEAKER_00

Yes this is true and by the way while we're talking about the Pope uh I know we're not all religious this is a particularly religious driven show but I just want to talk about this feat here uh for America since we just had America 250 Mike okay America's 250th birthday uh Pope Leo who's the current Pope uh who became Pope in 2025 by the way actually about a year ago is the first ever American born pope in history I just I think that's a huge feat and congratulations for us um so while we were on the subject Mike I thought that was a fun little tidbit. I mean you could have brought that up a while ago I could I could have but this was my on ramp.

SPEAKER_01

So a low key signing that happened that I think is pretty cool and actually affects your team and the commanders y'all signed corner Rasul Douglas to a one year deal and I think that's a really cool signing because he's not too far removed from being a pretty impactful player for the Packers on their defense. Yeah and he did a little stint over there with the Miami Dolphins where let's face it they didn't have much going on look they're hitting the the self-implode button right now. So now you're getting a veteran corner coming and playing for y'all and let's face it if he can be most of what he was when he was playing with Green Bay that might be a huge benefit to y'all.

SPEAKER_00

You know I just want to talk as a commanders fan here I really like this signing because this is a we have a very young backfield y'all okay and if you couldn't tell from the last couple years the commanders have a very young backfield overall they have not really had excuse me I'm sorry we haven't really had a veteran presence in the backfield in quite some time so I feel like having this level of leadership will help our second and third year guys really round out into the players we want to be and also they just drive to Sonny Styles they're gonna be focused on developing him into the future leader of this defense.

SPEAKER_01

So I think Rasul Douglas uh is gonna have uh a hand in that so we've brought this subject up a few times exhausted of me no I'm exhausted of this subject we're about to go on but we need to talk about it anyway so your team your quarterback has been who is who is your who is this team your your team the commanders I'm a quarterback I love the Giants go big blue woo woo anyway this dude anyway I can't take the Cowboys because PQ already stole that one good lord this dude you guys hear what I put up with that this guy anyway so Jaden Daniels uh kind of caught some weird strays from Brandon Ayuk they're supposed to be boys but Brandon Ayuk was giving him crap about how he wasn't really standing up for him when some fans were shouting at him about his boy you know getting ready to leave the 49ers to go join up with him.

Aiyuk Daniels Fallout And Posting Lessons

SPEAKER_01

And it's kind of weird is it like because he said nothing brand you know Brandon Ayuk's being all you know name dropping and being like you're being a little this and that and so this is you know he's he's just going off the rails man.

SPEAKER_00

So this situation I know there was a former NFL player who actually commended Iuk and how he's handling this. I disagree with that. It wasn't Cam Newton despite uh what you may think but I I forgot who it was it was somebody really surprising to be honest with you uh but I don't like how he's handling this situation. No. And now Jaden Daniels did try to speak up for his homeboy like he did try to be like yo come over here play with Washington get out of whatever muck you're in over there. IUK is kind of making the bed he's laying in now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah this is this is starting to show the rest of the league that it might not be a good idea to even pursue Ayuk with given the nature in which he's acting when it's literally one of his friends that he's being attacking.

SPEAKER_00

And like I said like we're you guys are on a platform this is happening publicly right uh and we live in an age it doesn't matter who you are or what level you're on okay when you're publicly out there and how do I how do I say like doesn't matter what you do for work when you act like this you don't have to be somebody famous look the moment you hit post the moment you hit send the moment that you make anything pop up on social media it is there. It's forever you are whatever that is you do not want to put yourself associated even if you delete it it's forever because somebody screenshotted it in screenshot it they got it recorded it's look yeah bottom line is just think before you post anything and right now Brandon and I you can skin to a point where he might be done like no more NFL career unquestionably he's done and by the way I have an ex I'm gonna I don't want to first of all I don't want to kick this man while he's down but I do have an excerpt here actually from if I can find it anyway it doesn't matter it was from Scott McClure on actually warning the commanders to stay away from Iuk be referencing his time at Arizona State saying he had issues there too but I think Jaden Daniels along with the commanders Adam Peters is familiar with IUK they I think they wanted to try to help him get a fresh start but I think at this point the way this is being handled by IUK like you have to keep your cool you cannot go off the rails okay well you can but it generally leads to bad things. Right now everybody thinks you have CTE okay You're probably never coming back after some of these charades. It would take a lot of work. Yeah. Alright. You really have to right some wrongs. Cause I feel like what he's done to the 49ers. I know the 49ers have been kind of publicly they've been hands off, but I know behind the scenes they're trying to do what they can. What IUK has done with the 49ers and kind of how he's made them look is uh astronomically um embarrassing. Okay, and I think other NFL teams and ownerships have picked up on this and been like, yeah, you know, we don't. I think IUK had a chance.

SPEAKER_01

Well, but we've already seen where headaches, when they become big enough headaches, they don't want them in their locker room. Look at AJ Brown. AJ Brown's. Antonio Brown. No, I'm talking about. Oh, yeah, AJ AJ Brown, yeah, just this last season. It's been an issue with with the Eagles, and they traded him away to the Patriots to get him out of their locker room. Not that he's drafted a replacement in the first round. Not that he's a declining player, but he got traded because they don't need the headache. They don't want the headache. And let's face it, if you're a wide receiver, think twice about acting out like this, because every year there is a slew of wide receivers coming out of college that can do your job. Maybe not as well as you, but trust me, there's gonna be one they find that they like better than you, and they don't have to pay as much as you. And if you're willing and get a second contract from a team and you want to be there, by all means get your money, but don't act out. I mean, it's simple stuff. Like right now, you have IU freaking out, doing all this crazy mess, not showing up for work, not showing up for rehab, not communicating, and what do you expect to happen?

SPEAKER_00

And at the same time, publicly bashing your employer, and bashing his friends, and bashing your friends. He's legitimately spiraling out of control, and I think he honestly believes he plays for the commanders right now. His wife needs to take his phone away. He has a wife?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Don't you remember we talked last week where he told her to go to the city? Does she does she live with him? Because there was a big white boy at his door, and it was John Lynch just knocking on his door to try to get some communication with him.

SPEAKER_00

They probably have a ring camera, and she probably witnessed the whole thing. Anyway. Speaking of rings. I I feel bad for what Iuka is dealing with, but at the same time, you have to you have to be controlled, right? Like, you have to maintain self-control. I know you're upset. Emotion is the hardest human thing to rein in and control, right, Mike? Like, I'm not saying that you had issues. I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Let's look at this from a logical standpoint. This team paid you. They have shown when they have great players, they will pay them. And they treat them fairly. You know, there are teams out there that they get good players and then they don't pay them and they trade them away. And then they trade them to spots where they don't want to go. Yeah, they'll get their money, but they're never going to be doing anything worthwhile when they get there. So when you're with a team, now, granted, you might feel like, hey, I want to have a bigger role, which let's face it, there's all since the inception of wide receivers, there's never been a wide receiver who doesn't think that their role is big enough. You know, like there's always gonna be the throw me the ball, throw me the ball. I just threw you the ball three times, throw it to me again. You didn't catch it. I'm open. Are you kidding me? There were three guys on you. I'm open, I'll catch it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I think receivers are probably among the highest diva, even higher than quarterbacks, right? Quarterbacks, you know, in the tom in the in the peak of the Tom Brady area era, you know, they they call off like. But I really think, especially after Antonio Brown, out Brandon Ayuk, okay. You know, the list goes on. Who was before Antonio Brown? Who was the receiver in Steelers before that? Mike Wallace. Mike Wallace, who ironically also left Pittsburgh to go to Miami, didn't have a lot of drama, but did have some issues organizationally. Tyreek Hill. Tyreek Hill, off-field issue. Terrell Owens. Don't you talk about my man, Tio.

SPEAKER_01

Ocho Cinco.

SPEAKER_00

Sir, you are digging deep. I am getting offended. You're gonna talk about my man. They hate me because they ain't me.

SPEAKER_01

Look, look, there have been plenty of divas.

SPEAKER_00

I will say, separating a bunch of these players, these guys are smart, okay?

SPEAKER_01

Are they?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I you might not be as smart, but like T.O. and Ochocinco, they might have a huge ass ego, but they're smart, okay? Remember, Ocho Cinco, by the way, formerly Chad Johnson, he lived in the Bengals like facility until the coach kicked him out. And they this ran on for a couple years. He saved every cent of the beginning. Like this, these are they might be off the wall, but they're smart decisions to me, okay? They were thinking about their future. But anyway, I digress. I want to leave Ayuka alone. I don't want to kick him while he's down, but I hope he works out whatever he's going through. Because it is sad to watch, and you know, he's not particularly uh a like I know he had a good season and tore his ACL, but homeboy tore his ACL and caught CTE, you know, Zayanzo.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, neither one or there. We're getting way off way off the rails here. Would you expect anything less from me? Anyway, coming over to a big event that happened that some people loved it, some people could care less, but we're gonna still discuss it because it does have some intrigue to a certain standard.

Kelsey Swift MSG Wedding And Leak Lockdown

SPEAKER_01

Uh, and that's the Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift, Big Marriage, Big Ceremony, and Madison Square Garden, where a thousand people attended. And they had Adam Sandler do the officiating, which I have to question if they did a Jewish ceremony or did they do a Christian ceremony, like, because he's Jewish.

SPEAKER_00

They're rich, so it had to be Jewish.

SPEAKER_01

No, I mean, I'm just saying, I we don't know which one they did. But uh, you know, it was kind of a who's who of people who were invited, and actually Charles Barclay got an invite, and he said, Yeah, I'm not coming. Thanks, but I'm not coming. I have better things to do. Well, no, I mean, it okay. He did say that he doesn't go to weddings and he doesn't go to funerals, it's just not a thing he does anymore, and that's not to say he didn't send well wishes and you know try to make them feel good about and say thank you for the invite and thinking of him. Right. But there's some people that kind of feel snubbed, and it's like, well, wait a second. They invited a thousand people. I feel snubbed. A lot of people.

SPEAKER_00

I feel snubbed. I own a Travis Kelsey and a Patrick Mahomes jersey, and I buy every Taylor Swift CD.

SPEAKER_01

But the bigger question that comes out of this is it gonna be Travis Kelsey with Kelsey on the back of his jersey next year, or is it gonna be Travis Swift with Swift on the back of his jersey next year?

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna be Kelsey, but then there's gonna be open parentheses, Swift, close parentheses.

SPEAKER_01

Are we gonna see Swift?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, maybe. In fact, he's not even gonna have a number. It's just gonna say Swift. It's gonna say Swift across his nameplate will say Kelsey, but his number will be Swift. No, can't do that. It's gotta be a number. By the way, while we're talking about this, I just want to go into some of the things that happened around this wedding. So um they reportedly deployed an quote ironclad anti-leak strategy for their wedding. All right, every single invitation was individually watermarked, Mike, with that specific guest's first and last name repeated suddenly across the background. Nice little touch. Also for security. I like the double whammy there. Uh so if a photo of an invited leak, so if a photo of an invite leaked online, Taylor's team would know who exactly did it. Um and the security didn't stop there. Alright, I got a couple more things for you, okay? Uh the cards even name Madison Square Garden as the venue, but they simply, no, they didn't name Madison Square Garden as the venue. They simply listed New York City in July 3rd as the date. So they even kept the location under wraps, even though everybody kind of knew where it was going on anyway. Right. Um, and then another thing was Madison Square Garden reportedly instructed its non-essential corporate and administrative staff to work from home this week, barring them from the arena complex as security measures are ramped up ahead of their wedding. Okay, the July 3rd wedding, by the way. So the remove was reportedly intended to allow security teams to utilize Mazda Square Garden's facial recognition technology and QR code checkpoints in an otherwise, quote, empty building, reducing the reducing the risk of internal information leaks.

SPEAKER_01

So I gotta- That was a lot to say. I gotta wonder, though, it does this we've had plenty of celebrities get married.

SPEAKER_00

This is overkill.

SPEAKER_01

But like, this is like, is this a little bit of a big old ego kind of thing? Like, we're gonna take over Madison Square Garden and get married. Is this kind of like maybe a little too much? Like, we're gonna do it this large. Now, uh granted, maybe, maybe it's like we have so many people we want to invite that we need a stadium? Maybe. But they invited Rich Eisen and his wife to come to their wedding. So I mean, how stringent was the list? I mean they invited Rich Eisen, but they didn't invite Dan Patrick. You know, they invited Charles Barclay.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I don't remember seeing Charles Barclay playing football with him, or they just you know, like Charles Barclay just didn't want to do his his uh trademark turbo and they kissed turbo.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think that was the I don't think that was a thing. I'm just merely saying that it's a little it's a little kind of I get it, you know, a lot of people are obsessed with Taylor Swift and and people do kind of like Travis Kelsey for whatever reason, and it's it's he's a football player. People love football players. I love football players. Not everybody loves football players, and not everybody loves certain football players. I can tell you for a fact you're right, there are players out there that I know you don't like. Like who? I'm not gonna name them. I'm not gonna name them. Oh, you can't open this can of worms, Mike. No, but yeah. You're a commanders fan. I think people could put two and two together. You know, they'll figure it out. Will they though? I don't I don't think so. They will. I don't think so. Are you are you inferring that our our fans can't figure out what you're trying to say? Whoa. Are you inferring that? Hold on there, buddy. Pause. I think that our fans can figure that out.

SPEAKER_00

That was me tapping my chest because Mike is giving me indigestion.

SPEAKER_01

I I think that that's you tapping out because you know I'm right. Who taps out on their chest, Mike? That's usually done on the floor. Get me out of here. Yeah, but if your arm's all twisted up and all you can do is touch your chest.

SPEAKER_00

My arm will never be twisted up. It's already messed up.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, look, you you tap out whatever way you want. Anyway. Bottom line is, you know, you gotta feel like some people might feel that given a thousand guests, if you didn't make the list, you might feel a little snubbed. I feel snubbed. Kelsey didn't invite their did not invite their kicker. He didn't make it. And part of it Bucker. Yeah, part of it, you think, or more some people have kind of speculated that it might be due to the comments he made about a woman's role and Taylor Swift not taking in very kindly to his words.

SPEAKER_00

So Taylor Swift, that guy doesn't come. Yep, he's a no. He's off the list.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I could see her doing the things. Off the list. You're off. He doesn't come.

SPEAKER_01

No, he is not alive. But you gotta wonder, like, if you're friends with any of them, that you gotta feel like, well, wait a second. You had a thousand people, you couldn't find one spot for me.

SPEAKER_00

By the way, Madison Square Garden has more than a thousand seats. They didn't need that whole stadium.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's the ego part of it. Like, we got married in Madison Square Garden. Nobody else has done this. It's our wedding, and it's a big grand event. Apparently, it screwed up a lot of things in New York.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they shut down the whole block for it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So I don't know. You know, cool for them they got married. Cool that the thing went off with no with no real issue, and seems like people had okay time. But I don't know. I we've had plenty of slubs get married and not need such a such a dog and pony show for it.

SPEAKER_00

And it it's not really the first time this has happened at Madison Square Garden, although it is the first time in a long time. I won't name off the years and nates, the the years and dates and who, all whatever, but this is the third wedding that's happened at MSG.

Hall Of Fame Game And Final Plugs

SPEAKER_00

Um but in some real football news, August 6th is the Hall of Fame game between the Panthers and the Cardinals, and I figure since we're on the NFL, we should stop talking about Taylor Swift. Hey, we're just giving what the networks want us to talk about. The networks don't want us to talk about anything, Mike. They haven't bought us yet.

SPEAKER_01

You talk about what they want us to talk about, and they might. Well, you got a point there. I give you that. But sometimes you play the hits. Just saying.

SPEAKER_00
