Canadian Creepies
Welcome to Canadian Creepies—the podcast that digs into the dark corners of Canada’s past and present. Your hosts Valerie, Ali, Amanda Joy ( host of Down the Crooked Path), and sometimes Kyle explore the true crime cases that haunt us, the paranormal encounters that make us question what’s real, and the unsettling folklore that lingers just out of sight.
From cults to cold cases, ghosts to government cover-ups, we don’t just tell the stories—we ask why they still matter.
It’s creepy. It’s Canadian. And it’s probably going to keep you up at night.

On April 27, 2024, thousands gathered along a Vancouver street to celebrate Lapu-Lapu Day, a festival honouring a Filipino hero and the strength of the Filipino community in Canada. Families filled the streets. Music played. Food vendors lined the blocks. It was meant to be a day of culture, celebration, and community.
In a matter of seconds, that celebration turned into chaos.
In this episode of Canadian Creepies, we examine the Lapu-Lapu Day attack — what happened on that Vancouver street, how the events unfolded, and the immediate response from bystanders, emergency crews, and authorities. We also look at the broader questions this tragedy raised about public event safety in Canada, including the growing focus on risk assessments, hostile vehicle mitigation, and the evolving ways cities are trying to protect large gatherings.
Most importantly, we remember the people whose lives were forever changed that day and the community that came together in the aftermath.
This episode discusses a recent act of violence and may be difficult for some listeners.
