Finding Peace in Psalm 91
What sustains you when the world seems chaotic? Where do you find peace when negativity surrounds you?
The answer might be simpler than you think. In this heartfelt bonus episode, I share the single verse from Psalm 91 that has become my spiritual anchor: "A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee." This powerful scripture has transformed how I navigate difficult times and protects my peace daily.
I've made a conscious decision to step away from the constant noise – the news cycles, the gossip, the negative conversations that drain rather than fill our spirits. Since March 7th marked a significant turning point in my faith journey, I've embraced a different path, even when it meant walking away from certain friendships and being comfortable as a "loner." The peace I've gained has been worth every sacrifice.
This isn't about ignoring reality but choosing where we place our attention and energy. Through daily Bible reading, consistent prayer, and intentionally making space for God first thing each morning, I've discovered a sanctuary that transcends circumstances. The 91st Psalm of David offers extraordinary protection for those who put their trust in the Lord.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by current events? Struggling to maintain hope? Try giving God the first moments of your day through prayer and scripture. Hello everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents. Thank you so much for listening to my bonus episodes and this today is a bonus episode. I decided to do this episode. Whenever I bring you a bonus episode, it's like 10 minutes, I guess. When I do a whole series topic, it's more or less 30 minutes. I want to talk about everything that's seemingly going on today and I want to tell you what I depend on. Okay, I'm going to take only one scripture out of the 91st chapter of the Psalm of David and I love the seventh scripture, the seventh verse. I should say I love that verse. Before I read that, I'd like to give you a place that you can contact me. Contact me at sorenregina at gmailcom. My bonus episodes normally does not have music or anything in the background, and today I have nothing in the background. You may hear a little wind blowing, I guess, but that's about it.
Speaker 1:I love the 91st Psalm of David. It's always been my favorite. It's about those people who do well on the Lord's protection and believe that the Lord is going to take care of them, and so far, so great. God has been good to me. I don't watch the news and all that stuff. You know the things that other people do or are doing. I don't do and I know that sounds very nonchalant to you, maybe it is, I don't know but I'm not letting these things get me or bother me. I'm not letting them. I'm okay. I'm doing fine. I'm not letting these things get me or bother me. I'm not letting them, I'm okay. I'm doing fine, I'm okay. I'm okay. Just trust and believe. I'm okay, and I love the 91st Psalm of David.
Speaker 1:For those Christians out there who read your Bible and study the Bible, you know what I'm talking about. Your Bible and study the Bible. You know what I'm talking about. The 91st Psalm of David is a very, very powerful, powerful, powerful chapter. All of the chapters in Psalms are very powerful. Even the 23rd Psalms is very powerful as well. So it's this verse right here that really, really holds me and that keeps me. And that keeps me when people are in their crowds and gossiping. You know this and you know that when they're doing that, or if they try to tune me into what they're talking about, I just tune them right out. I'm okay. I'll just put it that way.
Speaker 1:91st Psalm of David, the chapter I'm reading, the seventh verse and this is what I live by. This is what I'm living by right now A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee. I love that. I believe that I love the entire chapter. Now, I did not read the entire chapter, but I encourage you, if you are a Christian and love the Lord, go and read the 91st Psalm of David. I only read the 7th verse.
Speaker 1:Again, I don't entertain people coming around me talking negatively anymore. I just don't. I am pretty much considered a loner and that is okay with me, but I don't allow that anymore. I probably would a year ago or two years ago, I don't anymore. On March 7th it marked a new person in me and I decided to go for it and just let my light shine in a different type of way, and that doesn't include gossiping and talking about people and talking about current events and things like that. I mean you can get caught up in all of this if you want to, but I choose not to. So if someone tried to hone me into it, then I completely walk away from it.
Speaker 1:That seventh verse is my life. I'm fine, I am doing fine. It wasn't always that way, but I thank God that he has brought me back, and he brought me back in a big way. You've got to go, listen to God's intervention in my life and you'll understand why I had to come back. Take me back to the place that I once believed, and the Lord did that and I plan to stay there. And no, it's not a popular place. Maybe you're not popular or whatever. I don't even care about that anymore. All I'm thinking about is I am happy. I am happy going forth. I am happy going forth and sharing the good news of the Lord. And you know, yeah, I'm happy sharing the good news of the Lord. And you know, yeah, I'm happy. So if people want to want to talk about all these things going on and get their stuff all caught up in all of this stuff, then guess what? Count me out. Yeah, I've lost friends and it's okay. That's okay, I'm fine. I am fine. Fine, I am fine.
Speaker 1:I go by the 91st chapter of David, king James Version. I love it. I read it. I don't read it every day, but I read it very often. I love it and I thank God for keeping me. He said he would keep you. He said he would protect you if you put your trust in him, and that's where my trust is in the Lord. Thanks for listening. I do have full topics coming for it very soon.
Speaker 1:I've been doing these bonus, pop-up, bonus episodes for you, for people that need to hear just an encouraging word. I just want to encourage you out there to, if you don't read your Bible and scriptures, read your Bible and scriptures every day. Say a word of prayer every day before you start on your day. Just an encouraging word for those who is going through all of these things that they say are so bad, because I'm not bragging or anything like that, but I'm just thanking God for being good to me and he's only good to me because I am good to him, because I don't forget the Lord and I don't forget to read my Bible and don't forget to pray every single day. So I just encourage you out there, if you're going through a horrible storm or depression or something bad in your life, just try reading your Bible, try praying, try giving God some time first in your life and watch, just watch. You can see a total difference if you do that.
Speaker 1:And I just wanted to come with an encouraging word this morning, I'm Regina Swern. That, and I just want to come with an encouraging word this morning, I'm Regina Swern.
