Turn off the TV and Tune into Prayer: My Path to Inner Peace
How do you maintain peace when the world seems determined to take it away? Regina Swarn invites listeners into her tranquil approach to daily life that stands in stark contrast to our anxiety-driven culture.
At just under five minutes, this episode packs powerful wisdom about finding genuine inner peace. Regina shares her unconventional media habits—preferring classic black and white films over news programs and limiting her current events consumption primarily to weather updates. This intentional choice forms part of her spiritual practice to protect her mental wellbeing.
The heart of Regina's message centers on spiritual discipline. Beginning each day with prayer and continuing those conversations with God throughout her waking hours anchors her in a peace that, as she describes, "goes beyond man's understanding." For those wondering how anyone stays calm during tumultuous times, her answer remains refreshingly simple: turn off the television and turn toward prayer. Her trust in God, particularly reflected in Psalm 91 (referenced from a previous episode), serves as her unshakable foundation.
Whether you're spiritually inclined or simply searching for more tranquility in your life, Regina's gentle encouragement to be selective about what occupies your mind offers a practical starting point. Reach out to Regina if her message resonates with you, and consider sharing this wisdom with others who might benefit from her peaceful perspective.

Hi there, welcome back to another episode of Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents. I want to give you a place right off the bat to contact me. Contact me at swornregina at gmailcom. Thank you so much for listening to my audio series. All of you out there who supports this series, I thank you. I just thank you. That's all I can say. Thank you.
Speaker 1:I want to speak of my piece and I spoke of it just a little bit the other day, but I want to continue that piece. I get up in the morning I always say a word of prayer and lately I've been just saying a word of prayer throughout the day Because I need it. I don't know about anybody else, but I need it. I don't know about anybody else, but I need it. My peace goes a little bit further than most. I think most people keep up with everything that's happening in the news. Well, I have a television in my house and I do like watching. What I watch on TV is the old black and white movies, but as far as the news goes, you know what I look at, guys. I check out the weather, I check out some current affairs, but I don't sit there and I'm obsessed with that and I think that is the biggest mistake by most people. They get obsessed with that and a lot of people say, well, maybe you're not going through what a lot of people are going through right now. Well, because my trust is going to be in God. So I told you that in the 91st Psalms podcast I put my trust in the Lord. I always have. I was taught that way.
Speaker 1:The things I deal with is a little bit different than some people. You know I can't explain it. I'm going to try to sit here and explain it. I can't explain it. I'm going to try to sit here and explain it. But I thank God for his love and his peace of mind. He gives me peace and I don't sit glued in front of my television unless I'm watching a black and white movie, and that's only. Do I indulge in that type of pleasure when I have a day off. So I don't know what else to say. I talk to people about this and they don't understand. How are you peaceful in these times? Why are you peaceful? And I keep saying it over and over and over again Turn the TV off, get away from all of that. If you don't know how to pray, pray for God's sake. But I am peaceful and they don't understand my peace. My peace goes beyond man's understanding and it only comes from the Lord. That's as best as I can put it.
Speaker 1:I do, once again, watch. Sometimes I watch sports, but hardly. I'm not really interested that much in sports, so I'm not going to say I watch too much sports. But I do like keeping up with the weather, I do. You know whether I need a jacket or you know, because the weather is so unpredictable lately. So I do keep up with the weather World news a little bit. Yeah, I do watch some of that, I do A little bit. Yeah, I do watch some of that, I do.
Speaker 1:But for anybody who's sitting there obsessing over it, just biting your nose and looking, I guess making this podcast, this podcast is probably not for you, because you're going to do what you're going to do, I can't. Even my worries are not going to help you. But as for me and my family, me and my cats, we just stay away from all of that. And I'll go to first to say if you don't know how to pray, learn how to pray. Read your Bible, put God first in your life every day. Read your Bible, put God first in your life every day. And if you put God first in your life every day, there's absolutely no way that you're going to stray or go wrong. You're going to be peaceful. You're going to have a peace that surpasses any understanding of woman and man, boy and girl. That's all I got to say on that.
Speaker 1:I've kept this at five minutes, so I'm going to leave you with that word of encouragement. I'm Regina Swern. Thank you so much for joining me for my five minutes today.
