Why I Always Say "God Willing" Before Making Plans

Regina Swarn Season 7 Episode 34

Fan Mail

What does it mean to truly surrender to divine guidance in a world obsessed with certainty and personal control? This candid spiritual reflection explores the profound significance behind the simple phrase "God willing" – words I intentionally include whenever discussing future plans.

Growing up in a household where prayer happened three times daily formed the foundation of my unwavering faith. This episode reveals personal stories of divine intervention that protected me from potentially disastrous life decisions – from narrowly avoided marriages revealed through powerful visions to steering clear of complicated gospel industry record deals that would have compromised my spiritual integrity. These experiences weren't coincidences, but evidence of staying aligned with a higher purpose.

Beyond personal anecdotes, we explore the wisdom in avoiding pointless arguments about faith. When someone challenges your spiritual expressions or beliefs, engaging in debate rarely changes hearts. As I share, "you cannot argue with a fool" – not because of arrogance, but because authentic faith is lived rather than defended. This conversation offers a refreshing perspective for believers feeling pressured to justify their convictions in an increasingly secular world.

The practice of saying "God willing" isn't about religious formality – it's a powerful acknowledgment that tomorrow isn't guaranteed. It's living with open hands rather than clenched fists around our plans. Whether you're deeply religious or simply curious about different spiritual perspectives, this episode invites you to consider how acknowledging life's uncertainties might bring unexpected peace. Speaker 1:

Hey there, I'm Regina Sworn. Welcome back to a little bit of bonus episode of Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents. You can contact me at swornretina at gmailcom. Thank you to those wonderful listeners. If you share this podcast or you support it monthly, I thank you from my heart. I want to speak briefly about being in God's will. This is a very bonus, brief bonus conversation.

Speaker 1:

A lot of times we say we're going to do thus and we're going to do so and we're going to do this. Are we going to do that? A lot of people say that and every time I say that I'm going to do something, I say God's willing or if it's being in the Lord's will. I say that one day in a guy he said, oh, it's God's will. I said, well, I want to be in God's will, being God's willing. There's nothing wrong with saying that I try to be in God's will, being God's willing. There's nothing wrong with saying that I try to say that because a lot of people have made plans that they're going to do this and thus and thus they're gone. So I prefer to say God's willing or being in the Lord's will Whenever I say I'm going to do something. That's very, very important. I'm not here to argue with people about the Bible. I'm not here to argue with you about your religion, what you believe in, what you don't believe in, because some people like to say they don't believe in God, they don't believe in Jesus, they don't believe in whatever they don't believe in. That is you. That's what your beliefs are. I'm not coming against your beliefs. That's what you believe. That's what you believe.

Speaker 1:

The way I was brought up, god has blessed me in that way, through the Lord Jesus, and that's what I believe in to this day. Gosh, every time I do this, but to this day, that's what I. God's willing is very important to me. I say that because I have to say that when I say I'm going to do something and want to do something, I think God's willing, I throw that in there God's willing, or as my grandmother would say, or my pastor would say, being in the Lord's will and we should live to do so, and she would go through the whole motion. That's very important for me, to say that and to add that in there. It's just very important to me. So, like I said when you listen to these podcasts, I am not here to make you into whoever you want to be or whatever. It's up to you to choose who you believe in, god you believe in how you believe. That's not going to take away what I believe. That will never take away my beliefs in the lord, because I truly, truly love the lord. He's been good to me, he's been very good to me. So I speak from a place of experience where God has been in my life and he's brought me out of so many situations. So I'm never going to be arguing back and forth with the person.

Speaker 1:

As I said in my last podcast, and as I've said many times, you cannot argue with a fool. Let them keep arguing, let them keep doing what they do. You go forward and that's what they do. You go forward and that's what I do. I don't stand and argue with people. I just I don't believe in that. That has caused a lot of people to get killed One day a person I've seen it in the news and I don't like to watch the news, but the person was arguing back and forth. They shot each other dead right there. Bang, bang. Both of them died on the spot arguing with one another. So I do not argue with fools. I don't waste my time like that.

Speaker 1:

If you don't believe in what I believe in, that's you. I'm not going to judge you on what your beliefs are, but you're certainly not going to come and tell me what you think is right for me. No, it don't work that way. I know God has been good to me, he's been good to me and that's my faith. That's what I believe in. So if I want to say God's willing when I say something, then don't try to judge me for that. Don't try to. You know, people try to make a conversation about everything. They try to jump in and into everything and I don't like that.

Speaker 1:

Another thing and I know a lot of people might think this is funny or whatever they said a lot of people like to tease. I'm not a teaser, guys, anybody know me. You better come with the real deal, don't not a teaser, guys, anybody know me. You better come with the real deal, don't come at me. Oh, I was just teasing.

Speaker 1:

Some people say, well, everybody know me and I'm a good joker. I'm not a joker, I'm not a teaser. And I know some people would say well, why are you so serious? Why are you always so serious? Because life is serious. Why are you always so serious, because life is serious. And it doesn't mean I'm mean, because anybody that knows me know I'm a good, solid, quiet person, except on my part yes, mal-mannered, but I'm not a teaser, I don't like, I was just joking. I don't like when people do that, I don't. So life is not about a joke. Life is not a joke, and so saying God's willing means a lot to me.

Speaker 1:

Whenever I say something, I'm going to do something, I have to say God's willing, because we don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. We don't know that. So that's my choice. And again, I don't want to argue with people because they believe what they believe. See, when you believe what you believe, that's cool. But if I believe what I believe, then don't try to come against me and judge me what I believe, because you're not going to win. Because the way I was brought up, my mom had prayer with us three times a day. She had prayer with us in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. So some of my brothers and sisters may have went astray, but many of them still stayed on that same path, and I'm one of them. I believe in the Lord. He's been good to me. He's good to me right now. So whatever I say, whatever I do, god's willing is also always going to be thrown in there. See, I always, and I'm going to do a podcast about God's will for me.

Speaker 1:

A lot of people have stepped outside of God's will and did a lot of things. Do you guys know how close I've been many times to Mary getting married and God would show me a vision? No, don't do that. I had one vision a couple of years ago. I was going to get married and I saw myself walking down the aisle, beautiful, by myself, by myself. In this vision, I immediately said no, I can't do it. And there were other times in the past that I said no, people come at me all the time. God sent me to you. You're going to be my husband and God ain't telling me that. He ain't telling me that. So I want to be in the Lord's will. Everything I do.

Speaker 1:

Right down to when my sister and I was making music, we went to the pastor about signing huge contract deals. I'm thankful today that we went in the path that we went in, because a lot of people had they been in the situation that we went in, because a lot of people. Have they been in the situation that we was in Close to signing record deals, gospel record deals? The pastor was a woman that, at the God's own heart, this woman fasted and prayed and stayed before the Lord and she could see afar. And that's why my sister and I never got into that industry. We never got into that Because the gospel industry is the same as the other ones. Come on, come on, come on. So I'm not here to bash anybody, I'm just talking about myself. So we never got into that because we want to stay in the Lord's will.

Speaker 1:

So it's good to be in the Lord's will. It's good to know what God's will is for you, because what's good for what other people think is good for them, that's them. But on this side, as for me, I want to be in the Lord's will. So every time I talk to you and I said I'm going to do dust and sew tomorrow, blah, blah, blah, blah, and I say God's willing to try to judge that, because I really have to say that. I have to say that because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. So I just want to say that to you guys tonight. I didn't mean to ramble on and on and on, but thank you so much for listening.
