I've played the same Elton John song 500 times this month

Fan Mail

Have you ever loved a song so much you couldn't stop playing it? In this heartfelt and unusually personal episode, I pull back the curtain on my deep, almost ritualistic connection to Elton John's timeless classic "Candle in the Wind."

By my own estimation, I've listened to this single song hundreds—perhaps thousands—of times over the past year alone. It's become more than music; it's a daily companion that accompanies every car journey I take. The moment I slide behind the wheel, those haunting piano notes begin, creating a musical signature so consistent that passengers immediately recognize it as quintessentially "me."

What draws me so powerfully to this particular song? It's the emotional complexity it evokes—the tears it brings to my eyes alongside moments of unexpected joy. My lifelong admiration for both Elton John and Marilyn Monroe certainly plays a role, but there's something more profound at work, something too personal to fully articulate. This ballad has become intertwined with my identity in ways I'm still discovering. Music can form connections that transcend simple entertainment, becoming extensions of ourselves and vehicles for our deepest emotions. What song has captured your heart so completely? Speaker 1:

Hey there, I'm Regina Soren. Welcome back to another episode of Regina Soren Audio Series Presents. Now, this episode is like a couple of minutes. I want to tell you guys, the only song that I listen to every single day is by one of my favorite artists of all times, elton John. Favorite artist of all times, elton John. I like his music very much.

Speaker 1:

My favorite song that I listen to every single day is Candle in the Wind. I think in the last year I've probably played that song thousands of times. I listen to it every time I get in my car and sometimes I listen to it from the when I leave work and I get home when I go to work. Whenever I play a song, it's most of the times it's Candle in the Wind, and I love that song. I love it.

Speaker 1:

If Laura was here, she would tell you Gina loved that song and I don't want to say something. I was going to say something, something, but that's too cryptic. But it's a song that I really, really love all of my life. So it's a part of my life. I love the song and I got it down very low in the background because I wanted people to know just how much I love that song. I mean it makes me cry, it makes sad, but there are parts of it that makes me feel good. And being a fan of Marilyn Monroe and being a fan of Elton John and some other great people, I mean I really love that song.

Speaker 1:

Right now I'm just lost because I'm just sitting here listening to it in the background like oh my God. So yeah, I've played this song within the last months maybe four or five hundred times. So I listen to it every time I get in my car. I love it. It's just lovely. When people get in my car they're like, oh my god, this, this elson john candle in the wind. Oh my god, oh my god. So, yeah, I love it. So thanks for listening. Guys, have a great day. You can contact me at swornregina at gmailcom. Take care of yourself. And I just want to say that I mean I know this is a podcast, that probably a little different from the rest of my podcasts, but I just had to make one about my favorite song of all times Candle in the Wind.
