Why I'm Keeping My Next Big Guests a Secret

• Regina Swarn • Season 7 • Episode 47

Fan Mail

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of a growing podcast? In this intimate bonus episode, I pull back the curtain to share some exciting news while wrestling with a podcaster's dilemma: when to reveal your biggest guests and when to keep them under wraps.

I've been sitting on something major - a lineup of upcoming guests that spans from CEOs to renowned musicians and popular YouTubers. But rather than name-dropping to generate buzz, I'm choosing a different path. "Sometimes it's good to just hit them at the very end or right at the beginning of something. Sometimes it's not good to tell everything right away." This approach reflects my deeper philosophy about authentic growth versus chasing fame.

The journey of building this podcast has taught me profound lessons about loyalty. "It's the ones who stay with you until the end. Those are the ones that you hang on to. That's called loyalty." I share my genuine appreciation for listeners who've supported from day one, whether through monthly contributions or simple messages of encouragement. This contrasts sharply with those who may try to "jump on the bandwagon" once bigger names appear - a phenomenon I'm preparing for with a surprisingly firm stance.

Next week brings part two of my conversation with Jerri  Clay Hays from Rescue Cats Incorporated, whose insights apply far beyond cat rescue to all animal care. As for those mystery guests I'm keeping secret? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out. Connect with me at swarnregina@gmail.com or find the podcast on Buzzsprout. What upcoming guests are you most excited to potentially hear from?

Speaker 1:

Hello y'all. I'm Regina Swarn. Oh, wait a minute, let me do that again. Didn't sound too good. Hi there, I'm Regina Swarn. Welcome back to a bonus episode of Regina Swarn Audio Series Presents.

Speaker 1:

I think I started out a little slow because this is going to be very short. This is going to be very short. Next week we're going to do part two with Miss Jerry Clay Hayes of Rescue Cats Incorporated, from Fayetteville, georgia, and then we go on to proceed with our other great guests coming up Now. I was thinking to name them on Facebook and other platforms and social media, but I decided to hold out because I got some amazing guests and I kind of want to keep some of them a secret until they're very weak and say, ok, bang, there it is, and I got some good ones. Guys, guys are really, really, really powerhouses, yeah, and I think all of them are great Because my stories, as I say, they come from people from all walks of life.

Speaker 1:

So whether you are and this is just a little hint of some of the people I got coming up Whether you are a CEO of a major company, or you're your school teacher, or if you got a story, I want that story. So, yeah, I've been receiving a lot of emails and letters and things like that, things like that. So, um, yeah, I think I better cut it short because I don't want to give away too much. Yeah, I think I better cut it short because I don't want to give away too much. But join me next week for part two of my wonderful sit-down interview with Miss Jerry Clay Hayes, again of Rescue Cats, incorporated in Fayetteville, georgia. Boy, did she bring some great knowledge on the last Friday. I mean it was just really really good on the last Friday. I mean it was just really really good. No matter what type of animal you got, you can take that same interview and that stuff that she was saying, that information. You can take that and really run with it. It was so, so powerful.

Speaker 1:

So, yes, I'm looking forward to everything. I'm looking forward to God's willing, I'm looking forward to the upcoming podcast, and so I want to tell so bad. You know, sometimes you want to say things so bad, god, I wish I could just say that I want to tell them right now. I want to, but I cannot, I'm not going to do it, and I think it's better not going to do it and I think it's better not to. Sometimes it's good to just hit them at the very end or right at the beginning of something. You know, sometimes it's not good to tell everything right away, so just yeah, when it comes out, let them hear it at that time. And they're going to be like what you know, because my podcast is not a huge podcast, but I'm grateful that it reaches a lot of people. God has really blessed it and it's reaching just who the Lord wants it to reach. You know, and I'm realizing that, you know, I'm not trying to be famous. I should say it's popular, but I'm not trying to be famous or anything like that. There's a difference between famous and popular, and so I'm grateful that God is blessing it, and sometimes it's good to just be quiet and be in the background.

Speaker 1:

Let things grow. Don't jump too far ahead of yourself by asking different people did you check out last week or did you hear it? Would you like to be on it? Don't do that. Don't do that. Let this thing just sail in the background. Let this thing just sail in the background Because it's about to hit the front in a huge way and everybody's going to be coming to me, and so that's the way you have to do it. Sometimes it's better to do it that way. It's better to do it that way. Be the little guy. Be the little guy and just. I don't want to say pretend, that's a bad word to say but act like there's nothing going on. Just keep doing what you're doing, do the best that you can do.

Speaker 1:

Then when they hear those different guests on there and they hear and see what's going on, they'll be like, oh my God. And at that point sometimes people will try to jump on the bandwagon. And it's at that point I kind of don't let people on, because if you are not with me in the beginning, why would you get with me when you find out all these great people are on board? You know I've never been one to just let people just jump on when they see the great people are here, because to me all the people are great. I mean from the little to the quote-unquote so-called big. All are in the same place with me. I have no respect to a person and I think that's why people feel comfortable speaking with me. And so when people find out the people that's coming on board, some of these guests that I have coming on, you watch and see. Before the end of the year people will be like, oh my God, and then they're going to try to jump on and I promise you, at that time I just want you to stay watching, keep listening, because you wasn't there for me. You're not there for me now, so why would you want to be there when you find out all these big names Are coming on? And that's how people are, you know.

Speaker 1:

But I'm really thankful For the ones who have been there. I'm thankful for my sister, laura, for encouraging me to do this, because I was going to give up, you know. But sometimes giving up in the beginning is not a good thing, because you're just starting out, you're just getting your foot wet, feet wet, whatever. So you've got to keep going and I've been going and going and now God has started to bless it, you know, and I'm really thankful. And so I decided I had a long talk with some, some of my people, and I decided to sit back and let this thing just coast on. Now you put your car in neutral, just let it go. It goes silently down or backward or whatever. I got it in neutral right now and I'm just letting it just coast, just go, just go.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to tell people who's going to be on my podcast, because then it'll be like if I tell them right now who is going to be on there podcast, because then it'll be like If I tell them right now who is going to be on there and I got receipts for that, do you know how many people will try to jump on and on my phone it'll be ringing off the hook. But I don't want that. I want when they hear these different people who are going to God. I want to say something so bad. But Gotta keep it in the background, gotta keep it low. Yep, gotta keep it low, low, meek and humble. That's the way I proceed, to go Going forward in the future, and I'm super happy for all of the guests. All of the guests. I'm happy that you have and you want to be a part of this podcast. I'm happy for the ones who listen to this podcast.

Speaker 1:

You know the thing the soul song said there were many that started out with me, but now they're gone astray. And a few did start out supporting and being a part of it and then next thing, you know they're gone. You know, but they was never meant to be there from the start. You got to realize people who were there for you at first. Sometimes people are there just to see, to be nosy what's going on, let me see what she's doing, but it's the ones who stay with you until the end. Those are the ones that you hang on to. That's called loyalty, and I do have some. It may not be with a handful, but I do have some loyal people that follow me, that listens not follow me, but follow the podcast and listen to the stories and listen to the different things that I'm speaking about.

Speaker 1:

And even when I was doing it just you know, sometimes I do it like I'm doing this one solo. Even when I'm doing it solo, people have been there for it. But you watch how many people are going to try to jump on and I've already been told. Somebody told me this the other day. They said when people see those people right there, when they're on there, people are going to be like they're going to try to call you and book them, to try to push their album or to try to push their project or their company or their business or something when they find out.

Speaker 1:

But this is not to make myself look big, like I'm some big somebody. I'm still low, meek and humble. I tell people that I'm not trying to be the biggest, whatever. My podcast may never grow as big as Joe Rogan or those big podcasts. I'm not trying to do that. Practically I don't want to. I just want what the Lord wants for me. Technically I don't want to. I just want what the Lord wants for me and he is proving it every day that he is with me and he's on my side. That's all I need. That's all I care about.

Speaker 1:

So thank you to those who support this podcast, who's been loyal from day one. I mean who supported by, who's supported by supporting it monthly. Who's supported, you know, just by leaving messages, because you can leave a message. In the past I've asked people can you just leave a message on the fan mail? Because fan mail shows up everywhere. Some people won't even do that. They won't even leave a message and say I really enjoy your podcast, or thank you, or keep up the good work. They won't do anything.

Speaker 1:

And I equate it all to jealousy, because sometimes people can be so jealous of you. That's called secret jealousy, you know. They smile in your face and they act like they want to be a part of things and they act like they are. Oh, i'm'm gonna do it. I got you. Okay, I'm gonna do it. I'm so busy. These are things I hear all the time and I'm thinking to myself okay, why don't you just put yourself in neutral and just coast right on through? Because when they see the names and hear the names and watch these big names come on this podcast, they're going to want to get on, but my vote at that point is not accepting any more writers.

Speaker 1:

At that point, and I'm so excited I thank God for all of these great CEOs and all of these great musicians who want to speak with me, all of these great YouTubers who want to have a sit down with me. Just a little me. I'm just a little dot. I'm just a little crumb. I'm just a little crumb compared to the people that I'm going to interview and, yeah, I'm really excited about it. So I'm very thankful to those who want to be a part of this podcast, who really believe in what I'm doing and, you know, and as a support, they want to help me as well. So I thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. I came on and said too much on my bonus, but hey, I had to do it. Thank you so much for supporting this podcast. Once again, you can contact me at soaringrutina at gmailcom. My podcast is located at Buzzsprout. Guys, I know sometimes a lot of you are taken over to Spotify. Spotify is a great platform. Thank you again, and may God forever bless and keep all of you, stay cool and stay out of this hot sun. Contact me at swearingroutinea at gmailcom.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, winter is my favorite time of year. I mean, I'm not going to change that. People said this on my post about winter. Why do you like winter, ice and storms, and why do I like summer ice and storms? And why do I like summer? I've liked winter best ever since I was like six or seven years old. If my mom was here, she would tell you. If my sister, laura, was here, she'd tell you. If my dad was here, he would tell you I love winter. I've always loved winter time better than summer, and after winter I like fall, spring, spring. No comment. All right, guys, I gotta go. Thank you again, take care.
