How Prayer And Community Support A Sister’s Memorial

July isn’t just another month on my calendar, it’s the month I lost my sister Lora, my best friend, and one of the strongest prayer warriors in my family. So I’m doing something I’ve never done before: a memorial that honors her life while keeping the spotlight where it belongs, on Jesus Christ. I talk honestly about why this season feels tender, and why my faith won’t let me stay stuck in only sadness. 

You’ll hear how prayer and fasting guide every decision, from the heart behind the memorial to the guest speakers I’m bringing in, Elder Leonard Davis and Pastor Tammie Watson. I also share why I refuse to treat this as a popularity contest. This is about spiritual direction, obedience, and letting God lead even when emotions are loud. If you care about Christian encouragement, grief and healing, and living your values in public, this message will meet you where you are. 

What’s been overwhelming in the best way is the wave of community support. Designers are creating posters, banners, and artwork, and more than 23 radio stations are helping promote the broadcast. I reflect on gratitude, humility, and how sharing a podcast can spread hope far beyond one listener. I also open up about how Lora  pushed me not to quit podcasting, and why I’m still recording today, plus what’s next with season 10 and my new show, Give Me 15.

Welcome And How To Reach Me

Hello there and welcome back to another episode of Regina Sworn Audio Series Presents. I want to go ahead right off the bat and give you a place that you can contact me. I want to take this podcast to thank thank a few people. But first and foremost, I'd like to give my greatest thanks to the Lord. My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That's who my most thanks goes to, the Lord. Because without the Lord, without Him, I could do absolutely nothing. So that's when my thanks goes to first. Everyone knows this month is a very challenging month for me. The month of July is always a very kind of uh I don't know what it's I don't know why it's sad, but but a very sad kind of a month. But this month I've been extremely busy with uh the memorial for my sister Laura, who was my very best friend. Um my sister, we grew up together from little kids, uh did everything together, we did music together. Our happiest years, of course, was when we were living and visiting Mother A. B. Jackson, Prophetess. Uh, we were visiting her and and living at her house and going to church and those years in the um in the late 80s and the 90s and the 2000s, right on up to 2010, were the most beautiful years of our life, absolutely.

Why July Feels So Heavy

And so we all know my sister passed away in July of 2020. The last um couple of days in July, July 29th, 2020. And this memorial is the very first memorial of any kind ever. God laid it on my heart to do a memorial in my sister's honor. But the memorial is to lift up the name of Jesus. That's what it's all about. Lifting up the Lord, that is it. But it is in her honor, and I'm so thankful. I prayed, I fasted, I think I can say I fasted now because I don't like to tell people when I go on a fast. I don't like to tell people that. But I fasted very weak at times, but I did it. I was asking God to lead me what to do for this memorial. He let me write down to the people who designed the posters, he led me to the speakers who I who I got, Elder Leonard Davis, whom I call a man of prayer, because we've known Elder Davis for a very long time. He attended church with us uh back in the Mother A. B. Jackson era. Um, and I'm so thankful to my dear brother. He's my dear brother, and I'm so happy to have him as one of my guest speakers. I also

Building A Memorial Through Prayer

have uh uh Pastor Tammy Watson, who also attended the church that we attended, uh, Prophetess Mother A. B. Jackson. So I prayed and I asked God, who can I get to speak? I really prayed about it. And after praying and fasting, the Lord led me to Elder Lynard Davis and Pastor Tammy Watson. So I have to go accordingly how the Lord leads me. And I'm grateful about that. So this is not a time to say you didn't choose me, you didn't pick me. It's not about that. It's not about that at all. It's about being led by God, and I have to be led by God in this situation as any part of my life. So I'm thankful for that. God has blessed me overwhelmingly with so many people who are creating posters, creating banners, uh radio stations are coming out of everywhere wanting to be a part of this in a small way by announcing my podcast on their show, on their broadcast. That is absolutely amazing to me, you know? And I have like over 23, over 23. Yeah, over 23 radio stations who are uh wanting to air this broadcast, but right now they're promoting it on their different shows. Tell me that isn't the Lord, tell me that is not great. Oh my Lord. So I'm very thankful. A lot of people are are are giving me free work right now. They're they're creating posters, beautiful posters, banners, beautiful banners, they're creating uh artwork and so many other things for me. And I I ask him, oh, what do you guys charge? You know, I'm always kind of no one to know what you're charging. They say absolutely zip, absolutely zero, because we want to support what you're doing this month, very important. So a lot of different radio stations, a lot of different designers, a lot of different uh people are coming forward to uh support me this month. I think maybe in the future they might want me to uh work with them later, but whatever the motives are, I'm grateful. I'm thankful. I thank my dear friends who are creating stuff, uh Royal Digitally. I thank them,

Gratitude For Helpers And Radio Stations

they're doing a lot of different things for me. Uh Steven Erskine from England, always doing great things. I really appreciate him. He's always doing stuff uh for me on the side, and I I really appreciate these things. Stephen Paul, whom I've known since 2003, I believe it was. I've known Stephen Paul a long, long time. I mean, really a long time. If you guys remember Hurricane Katrina, um, that's when I met Stephen Paul shortly before that. So I've known Stephen Paul uh even before my father passed away. So we've been friends a very, very long time. I I I he's a friend. You know, I call him on the phone, we talk, and you know, when his father passed away, you know, we talk to each other very, very often, you know, staying in each in touch with each other by phone. I'm just really thankful. I'm not using this podcast as a competition with anybody. If anybody else wants to do anything on that that they're doing, I'm more power to you. I mean, you know, I'm not using this as to compete with uh brothers and sisters and friends. If people want to do what they do, they can do what they do. I'm not trying to stop anybody, but I'm being led by God uh with this memorial, and God has led me every single person that I have chosen to work with me, the Lord has led me through fasting and through prayer. So I'm thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for guiding me because without him I could do nothing. I'm gonna say that forever. I can't do anything without the Lord's guidance. So I just want to thank everybody, those radio stations out there who they don't have to do this. You know, people who are lending me their help this month, they do not have to do it. But these people are doing this stuff because they want to support my cause. They know that this is important to me. This is the first memorial of its kind since my sister has been gone with the Lord now for six years. And this is more than just a little occasional post on Facebook or Instagram. It's more than just posting on her birthday, I miss my sister, I miss whatever. God let me to do this, but in doing so, it's to lift up the holy name of the most high Jesus Christ. And that's the reason that I'm doing it, because my sister was a praying woman. My sister was the prayer warrior in my family. And so, yes, I wanted to do something in her honor, but I had to be led by God. You know, before she passed away, my sister was my biggest I call her my biggest cheerleader, the women beneath my wings. I'm doing this podcast because of my sister, because I was definitely going to give it up in the early part of my you know recordings. But on my sister's sick bed, you know, right almost right before she passed away, she she told me, she said, Don't do it, don't give up that podcast, keep recording, keep putting the message out there. She said, Gina, I see great things for you with that. This is what she tells me. She said, Do not give it up, don't do it. So that's the reason today I'm doing this podcast. That's the reason so many thousands of people download these podcasts. A lot of people don't follow me. I got relatives that don't support it, but that doesn't make any difference to me. I'm being led by God because the Lord has so really blessed this podcast in a major, marvelous, wonderful way.

My Sister’s Push To Keep Going

I mean, when I tell you my cup overflow it, my cup is overflowing with the joy that the Lord has brought through this podcast. So anytime a guest is on this podcast, trust me, thousands of people hear you. Thousands of people listens to my podcast, thousands of people hear those different ministers and speakers that's on there, thousands of people. That's just another way. If you're a preacher or a speaker or whatever, author, that's just another way to get your point across over the airwaves through my podcast. Because I have like a huge community that actually listens to my podcast. So I don't think you're just on a podcast or you're just being on my podcast. Whenever you're on there, a lot of people, I've had people telling me say, Oh my god, people are contacting me out of the woodworks, you know. So anytime you are on my podcast, though, I encourage you to share that podcast. Share it. Because yes, I have a huge community, I have thousands of people who listens, but when you share it with your community, then only make more people listen to it. So I'm just grateful to God. I just want to make this podcast about all of the people who are supporting this podcast this month, who are supporting me at this very um I don't want to call it a difficult time. I just want to call it a kind of a sad time, but actually it's the joy, joy, the joy of the Lord is my strength. I have to look at it that way. God, you are my strength. Yes, it's a little sad when I think about this. Is the month that my sister passed, but you know, I think of the Lord and how wonderful he is and how great he's been to me. So I want to wrap this up by thanking everyone. If I don't call your name, trust and believe I thank you. I can't call all the radio stations' name to IFM, all of them. I can't call all of you, but I thank you. I thank those uh designers out there, those web designers and and all the people who are creating posters and again banners. You you're yet to see more things that's been created because people are really lending their support. They don't have to do that, but they're doing it because they're just wanting to be supportive. And and a lot of them want me to see their work, so that's great too. And I won't forget you next month. Next month I'm gonna be a whole different person. You'll see. I will remember everyone who supported me this month, I promise you. And God's willing, next month I start season 10. I'll also roll out the red carpet for my brand new show, Give Me 15. What’s Next And Final Thanks

truly overflowed. And God has blessed me so much that I really don't have to work anymore. I'll say that. I don't want to say too much, but I'm thinking of just retiring. I said I don't want to work part-time, but and I love the babies, I love the babies, but I can't do everything, I can't be everywhere, but the Lord um is leading on my heart and praying about it. Uh, if I can't do part-time at work, then I'm just gonna retire altogether because I'm set for life. I don't have to worry about bills and all those things like that. I don't have to worry about that anymore. The Lord has really um blessed us. Uh huh. He's really blessed us, my hubby and I. He's really blessed us, and I just thank God for that. See, I'm very private, I don't put my business out there. So you a lot of people say, this should just say hubby. You know, I don't put my business in the street like that. I'm sorry, I just don't do that. I don't want everybody in my business, so a lot of things I cannot talk about, and uh so I don't.
