Hello, my name is Paul, and I am the voiceover for a ministry provided to you by Jim Pugh at God is Government called Your Daily Bread, taken from Christ's teaching of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6, verse 11. This is a daily devotion ministry focused not only on uplifting scripture, but scripture that will grow your spiritual connection with Christ. We hope that you receive these devotions to uplift you, encourage you, but most importantly, advance your knowledge base of the Holy Scriptures. Today's focus discussion will be on understanding God's creation of humanity. Genesis chapter 2. God establishes his purpose for man in this statement. Genesis 2, verse 4 to 25. God says, These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pizan, that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havila, where there is gold, and the gold of that land is good, there is Delium and the Onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon, the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia, and the name of the third river is Hidakal, that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria, and the fourth river is Euphrates. And the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him and help meat for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam, to see what he would call them. And whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found and help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept, and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Psalms 8:5 KJV states, For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor. What does it mean to be a little lower than the angels? Like angels, man has his own mind and thought processes. Like angels, man has free will. Like angels, man is a created being, yet will live eternally, either with Christ or in hell. Yet physically, man is bound to the earth. He cannot, without mechanical aid, fly around. Man cannot go through walls. You know the superhero stuff. We may ask now, why would God do this? One insight might be that God created man with lesser abilities, so man would be solely dependent upon him. After all, look what many of the angels did, they rebelled against God, with Lucifer specifically thinking he could place his throne higher than that of God, causing God to cast him out. Creation of humanity was to demonstrate God's glory, to worship God, and to advance his kingdom through the generations to follow. God gave specific instruction to man that would keep man in right standing with God, and through the fact that man has the ability to reproduce, to grow the kingdom of God, with what God calls adopted sons and daughters. In these scriptural texts, we are given three reasons why God created male and female. 1. Reflection. Let us create them in our own image. An image is a reflection. You see this when you look into a mirror. By looking into the mirror, you see a reflection of you, a mirror image. And when you see yourself, the thoughts you have about yourself is exactly what you will manifest as your life. You see, God wanted to create man and woman, and the relationship that comes out of it, marriage, to be a perfect mirror image of us in the physical realm, as we are in the invisible spiritual realm. God said we want to mirror ourselves in physical history as we are in eternity. So we as men and women and we that are married are supposed to mirror the triune God. So this brings up the question then who and what is God like? If we are supposed to be a mirror image of Him, then we must understand who He is and what He is like, because if we do not know, we cannot be mirroring them. The biblical God is one God composed of three equal persons. The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, and the Spirit is neither the Father nor Son. However, the three persons make up the one family of God called the Godhead. Therefore, God wanted to image that, and the way he images it is by way of creation of the family. When it came to history, the Trinity progressively entered time. The Father sent the Son. John 3 verse 16 says that God so loved the world that he sent his Son. When it was time for Jesus to leave, he sent the Holy Spirit, I am going to send you another comforter. So when it came to earth and his unveiling himself, God progressively manifested him. Although he existed as the triune God. So when God created man, we should not be too terribly surprised that God did not create Adam and Eve at the same time. He created them progressively. And listen now, one came out of the other, progressive creation. Let us look at this. God created man, Adam, God puts Adam to sleep, and take a part of him and creates Eve. God then brings Eve to Adam and gave him her. God is his creation of Eve, gave her the capacity to bring forth life from her womb. So that from Adam comes Eve, and from Eve comes a child, making up a family, to mirror then the triune Godhead. With the exception of Jesus dying on the cross, the Godhead, while distinct in person, acts in sync on all issues. They are operating as one. Because Satan could not take over the kingdom of God through direct overthrow, it is Satan's goal on earth to split the relationship in our families and with God in order to prevent the kingdom of God's plan on earth from being realized. It is no wonder that Satan bombards our marriages almost continuously with demonic influences through television, radio, fake news, fake friends, you name it. The attacks are for one purpose. It is Satan's primary purpose, to have us in continued conflict, so that we never see God at work in our individual lives, our homes, our communities, our churches, and our elected government. So when God is telling us that the two, individuals, when married, shall become one flesh, this does not mean we give up our individualities. Just the opposite. Just like the Father is not the Son or the Holy Spirit, they are in unison, so shall we be in marriage. The family is to be a mirroring of that union or unison, drawn together as one in one shared purpose. Two individuals sharing a single purpose, functioning like the Trinity in all things. 2. Replication. Go forth and multiply. When we have children, it is not just because we want something that looks like us, we want a lineage, a progeny. Its purpose is to spread throughout earth the mirror image of God, kingdom expansion. You see, when children grow up, they get married and have more children, and so it goes. So God's plan for humanity was to mirror his image of the invisible kingdom in the physical realm on earth. The kingdom purpose of children is the replication and multiplication of his image, spreading this image throughout the earth in the growing of his kingdom. He created marriage as a system for kingdom foundation and a process of multiplication through intimacy for kingdom replication, kingdom expansion. So, when we look at failed marriages today, it is the result of Satan's disruption of the process of God expanding his kingdom. 3. Ruling. God says in Genesis 1.28, and I am paraphrasing here, we are going to let them rule. Here we go again, as in the previous chapters, dominion. God created the family as the foundation of his rulership in society. The saga of the family is the saga of a nation in an excessively big way. It can be said that whoever owned the family owns the future. We should understand this and oppose the breakdown of the family with every ounce of strength we have. The breakdown of the family is the biggest social crisis in our communities, our nation, and around the world. It is at the very root of the wickedness spreading through the earth. We need to understand the necessity for unity here. God's kingdom structure is built on and flows through individuals, then as husband and wife, and then as family. Without this, nothing else for humanity exists. God created man and woman to rule here on earth under the same authority with which God rules in the heavens. These rulership terms are described in the covenant God made with Adam. Thank you for joining us in this exploration of God's creation of humanity.
