She's in the Weeds - Pop Culture and The Female Experience
A podcast exploring the intersection of pop culture and the female experience. Hosts Sam and Hollis are here to unpack the good parts, the messy parts, and most importantly, the parts that inform our ideas about feminism and being a woman. They dig deep on the millennial culture that shaped their girlhood and the current pop culture informing their adulthood examining what it teaches them about self-worth, agency and identity. Join them as they share their lives, dish on reality tv, celebrity drama, and social media culture, reminisce about millennial pop culture, review 90s and 00s tv and film, and highlight female pop culture icons. Come for the hot takes. Stay for the bestie banter. New episodes Wednesdays.

First up, we're yapping about our annual rager of a weekend seeing music and staying out late. We may be pushing 40 but we still got it! Then Sam's sharing a funny story about her 5 year old and school lunches and it sparks a trip down memory lane of what we remember from the school lunches in the 90s. Spoiler alert, not a whole lot has changed! Next, we're discussing kid's birthday parties and how to navigate to gift or not to gift and covering the costs of the party. Parenting is hard. Then it's on to setting the record straight about Hello Kitty, the pen empire of the 90s, and some recent headlines involving Pete Davidson and Jessica Biel. This sparks an interesting discussion about how we feel, or don't feel, when celebrities couples split and when celebrities we admire pass away. The psychology behind this fascinates us. Then we're sharing some thoughts surrounding two TikTokers and the way they are being treated in the comments. The two women are, in our opinions, very similar yet one is being treated horribly while the other is being praised. Tune in for our theory as to why. Next, we're sharing our thoughts about the finale of And Just Like That. Don't come for us but we actually liked it and we're sad to see the series go. As always we're signing off with gripes to self checkouts and chicken tendons and grapes to toddler voices and gel manicures.
