The host, Sneha Jain Kirloskar (SJK) is a graduate in Economics & Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University. She is also the Founder & Trustee of an educational non-profit in India, that has impacted over 3000 children since its inception. SJK has also worked in her own energy meter company seeing its initiation, expansion and strategic sale. Passionate about energy, sustainable businesses and the environment, she completed a Masters in Energy Policy from the University of Sussex, UK. In spite of having worked in social entrepreneurship and the energy business, SJK's podcast focuses on how internal energy or human energy is the determinant of how everything shapes out in life.
SJK enjoys playing the piano and she writes inspirational and empowering songs on human potential and energy. She recently released two singles called "Universe Within" and "Misaligning My Destiny" under "Lyrics by SJK". She lives in London with her husband and enjoys visiting the countryside and being in nature.

00:00:08 Hello and welcome back to On the Journey with SJK. We're back with more energy, more perspective and more insights. I hope you're having a fantastic start to the new year. And I also hope you had the chance to catch my last episode with Doctor Rachel Turow, author of the book The Self-talk Workout. She gives some amazing tips on how to manage that self-talk, that inner critic that goes on and on in our minds, how to be kinder to ourselves, how to build non-judgment in our lives. And she speaks about how managing the mind is crucial. So if you've missed it, please, I urge you to go and listen to it now. Okay, so I have a question for all of you. Do you believe in energy? Do you feel energy When we think a lot about something or talk a lot about something, whether that's positively or negatively, we energize that part of our lives. That's where our energy flows and that's what we end up manifesting. We manifest what we think about the most and speak about the most because we energize that part of our lives.
00:01:20 So what are you energizing today? What are you thinking about the most? What are you speaking about the most? Think of your mind space as a pie diagram. So there is work, love, relationships, fitness, current problems, and there are many other things that occupy our mind space. And even during the day, we spend different amounts of time on each of these. On different days, we may feel differently about each of these aspects of our lives. So there could be days when we feel really happy with our work. We could feel like it's going in the right direction. Or there could be days that we feel really stuck and far behind. There are days where we feel really happy about all the relationships in our lives, or there could be days where we start questioning one of them. As our thoughts change, our energy with respect to these things change. And whatever we think about, whether that's in a good way or a bad way that expands in our lives, we manifest that in our lives.
00:02:23 We're constantly creating and manifesting our lives, whether we are aware of it or not. So I guess in a completely ideal world, it would be amazing if we could think only about those great things in our lives, right? Think about good health. Think about good things that have happened to you. Think about all the positive relationships in your life. But actually, most of the times we are not truly in control. We are unable to take the mind to good places. It's normally the mind that is the master and we are just passively following. So if the mind wants to rant about a person or a problem in our lives, we just end up going there. If the mind wants to repeat some negative event that has happened in our lives the same old conversations, the same problems, we just get caught up in that cycle over and over again. So what happens then? Our energy basically goes to the wrong areas. Our mind gets stuck in the wrong places and we start energizing those negative aspects in our lives.
00:03:24 It's like wasting your money on a bad purchase. Once we've spent time ruminating over the bad stuff, we've actually wasted those thoughts. We could have energized the better aspects of our lives, you know, parts that actually add value. And secondly, when we go over the same problems in our lives or our mind gets stuck into that rut. We basically give these problems a lot of power. So if there's a problematic situation in our lives or there are people causing us trouble. What we do is that we give them all that power by thinking about them over and over again. So that problem ends up controlling our minds. It's like giving your house key to a burglar. Would you ever consciously give that power and control to anybody? I think this episode is for all of us who spend a lot of time in the past, who go over the same events over and over again. There's no need to spend so much time on the past. There's no need to spend time on negativity in our lives. I really urge you to let go of that, because our thoughts and our words and our feelings have power.
00:04:38 They have creative force. That's how we communicate with the universe and we manifest what we want. We have to take our thoughts to the good things in our lives. We have to energize the good parts by thinking about them, by speaking about them, by being there. We need to be aware of what we're thinking. It's as simple as that. And I know that it's not very easy making this a part of our lifestyle. But I think we all need to realize that we are actually the creator of our lives. We have to work as the creator to manifest the kind of life that we want. I think it boils down to the ability to snap out of that negative mode of thinking, whenever we feel we are slipping into that. And if you heard my last episode with Doctor Rachel Turow, she talks about exactly that. The mind often slips into the default mode network, which is when we are not focused on what is happening around us, but instead thinking about the past or future or simply daydreaming.
00:05:47 And it's only through awareness, whether that's through breathing, whether that's through meditation or simply catching ourselves that we can snap out of this default mode. It's like building a muscle, right? It doesn't happen overnight. You don't build muscles overnight. It's a habit. You have to keep doing it again and again. But it's like building in a capacity. We build that capacity to take ourselves out of that default mode, out of that negative mode, whenever we feel we are slipping into that. Because when we slip into that default mode, that is what we're going to energize. That is what we kind of end up manifesting in our lives without realizing. So I think at the start of this new year, let's make a determination to really take charge of our minds, to realize that our minds are like creative tools. They are forces. And the more we spend time on the good things in life, the more they are going to expand in our lives. This process is not going to happen overnight. It's going to take some effort.
00:06:45 It's going to take a habit building routine, you know, to get out of this default mode of thinking. but it's going to get easier and easier with time. Let's train our mind to focus on the good things. Energize the good things about our lives. I can't stress on that enough. Everybody has problems. Everyone has stress. Everyone has relationships that have not worked out, or business problems or health issues or, you know, other issues in different parts of life. But I think we all need to get over that. We've all been through stuff that has not worked out. Everyone has been through something that has practically broken them, things that they never expected. But you know, that's life. You have to let go of that and free your mind space for all the good things in life. And the more we focus on the good things, the more they will grow and flourish. So focus your mind on the good things. Do the things that you enjoy and that really make you happy.
00:07:40 Spend time with positive people. Spend time with people that care for you, that you care for, that you love. And remember that thoughts are energy, thoughts are energetic. Whatever you think about the most, you energize that part of your life and you manifest that even more. Think of thoughts as money. What are you spending it on? What are you energizing today?
