The Chas Palmer-Williams Podcast
This Music Doesn’t Belong To You
In the late 90-s and early 2000’s the Uk saw an explosion of bands that loosely fitted under the umbrella of punk. Hundreds of bands played up and down the country playing thousands of shows each year. In this season’s podcast Chas interviews ket members of that scene and try’s to uncover the reason why hardly any of the major press gave this scene coverage and if some of those DIY ethics can help us now in ever day life.

Matt Reynolds: Howards Alias, David Ransom, Drawings, Thinkpol, Skylar
Matthew Reynolds is a singer and guitarist from Southampton who rose to prominence through
his band Howard’s Alias, who were an integral part of the UK punk scene of the 00s, touring
relentlessly and releasing four LPs.
In this episode, Chas and Matt discuss how to deal with ‘knowledgable’ fans, regrettable touring
incidents, the diagnosis of neurological conditions, how those conditions manifested undiagnosed
on the road, relationships with other bands on the scene and growing up on a council estate as
well as lyrics, school days, class, families, friendships and much else besides. A lot of ground was
covered.
