Can an orgasm help you attract success, confidence, money, or even love?

The O Method has exploded on TikTok, claiming that combining orgasm with manifestation can help turn your goals into reality. But is there any science behind it, or is this just another viral wellness trend?

In this episode, we break down what the O Method actually is, why so many people swear by it, what psychology says about visualization and goal setting, and whether the real power comes from the orgasm... or from changing how you think and act.

Coralie

So today we're answering a question that absolutely did not appear in any of our high school sex ed classes. And that is can an orgasm help you manifest your dream life? Because according to TikTok, the path to financial freedom, true love, and personal success might not be in a vision board or a five-step morning routine. It might be masturbation. So today we are diving into the O method, a practice that claims orgasms can help turn intention into reality. Is it spiritual? Is it psychological? Is it complete nonsense? Or is there something more interesting happening underneath all that social media hype? This is Taboo Talk, not safe for brunch. I'm Coralie from Vancouver and I love digging deep and asking the questions no one will.

Amber

I'm Amber from Ontario. I'm blunt, cut through the fluff and get straight to the point.

Vicki

And I'm Vicky from Manitoba. I'm all about real connection because intimacy starts with trust. Let's get into it.

Amber

The O method is a manifestation practice where a person focuses on a specific goal or intention during sexual arousal or orgasm. The theory is that the orgasm creates an intense burst of emotional, physical, and mental energy. Practitioners of all people believe that directing that energy towards a specific outcome helps send the intention into the universe. Some people see it as spiritual, and others see it as psychological exercise that helps reinforce goals. Others, though, think it's just TikTok's latest attempt to make masturbation sound productive. It really is.

Coralie

It's on the to-do list every day. So when you do it, you're doing something productive because you can scratch it off.

Vicki

I mean, I think that there is real power in orgasm. So I'm really excited to have this conversation because I do believe that we do elevate when we are orgasming regularly. I think I don't know about putting other intentions into the world around the orgasm. I just know that the more I have, the better I am.

Amber

So it just does. It brings out our best selves. Yes. So most people describe the O method in four steps. One is choose an intention. So not like I want more money, something specific, like I want to attract healthy relationships or I want confidence in my new job. I want to finish my book. I want to feel more comfortable in my body. The more specific, the better. Number two, during arousal, they imagine the goal as if it already exists. So instead of imagining like getting the promotion, they imagine how it feels after receiving it. So what am I wearing? What am I feeling? Who am I telling? The focus is usually on the emotion of it. Now, as far as the visualization goes, you guys, how in the hell do you go from holy shit, this feels amazing. I'm having an orgasm to now I gotta visualize. Like, are you looking at a vision board? Are you looking at a whiteboard on the wall?

Coralie

Like, listen, I have tried it. I can't, maybe it's D ADHD, but I'm working on it, okay?

Vicki

But I can't just curious, like process the same.

unknown

I know.

Vicki

Well, and I also think that for Amber and people who are like Amber, where they cannot physically visualize things, right? Like where you you literally have difficulty visualizing. Is that correct? I have nothing. It's blank. Yeah, so yeah, so it's a blank slate for Amber. That that would be an impossibility. Maybe that would be something that she could meditate on and maybe find a way around it. I personally um I have listened to some meditations that are guided and they take you through the process while masturbating just to bring you to that side. Um, I could never lock in because my brain is just like, no, this is I like what's happening here. This is great, right? I do think that there's something there. However, I do, as I said before, believe that the more we use our orgasm for not just that physical sensation, that release, et cetera, et cetera, when we use it to elevate ourselves, I think I believe that to be true.

Amber

I mean, I think there's validation in this. I'm just thinking of the logistics of it, going the orgasm is not that super long in itself, and now I gotta visualize at the same time that this is happening.

Vicki

I think it's probably throughout the entire moments of leading up to and throughout, is my opinion.

Amber

It's not like you just think of other things and then like orgasm goal, you know, you're like but then okay, but then does it take you longer to reach orgasm if you're thinking of other things?

Vicki

I think it is a process when we are talking about the O method.

Amber

Like this sounds like a whole skill set.

Vicki

It is. It's I think it kind of, and and please forgive me if I am talking out of turn and if somebody who does this regularly comes to me and tells me this isn't correct. I I think it it feeds into the idea of that tantra sex, that that the feelings, the paying attention to your core, really not just the initial sensations or the physical sensations, but what else is happening during that? It takes an incredible amount of patience, of which I don't possess um in to to do this, I think, properly and fully. But I think any time that you're just kind of tickling the idea of it, it can't hurt.

Amber

Well, maybe, but number three is focused during orgasm. So, like at that moment of orgasm, they bring the intention to mind. So, yes, you could have been thinking about it the whole time, but really bring it to mind during orgasm. And many practitioners believe that's the moment when the intention is most charged.

Vicki

Yeah, I would guess that to be true. I just think that these are people who have fully practiced this. Um, and I think that if somebody really wants to attempt this, that they need to give themselves some grades to get there. That's not beginner shit, man.

Amber

I mean, yeah, I'm full on like manifestation, like love it. Yeah, orgasm, love it. Yeah, but how do we put them together?

Vicki

What's what's happening here? Yeah, I agree. I agree. I I do think it is something that has to be practiced. I don't think it's uh one and done or you just figure it out. I who wouldn't want to practice having orgasms.

Coralie

I mean, why not? Sign me up. I'm here. You wouldn't want to? No, I want to do all of them. Oh playing is tribute. She's gonna give it a shot.

Amber

Yeah, I volunteer. Now, number four in this, number four in this process is to release. So after they let go of the outcome, this is actually a huge part of the manifestation culture. Is the idea is set the intention, trust it, stop obsessing.

Vicki

This part. This is the part that I'm talking about that makes sense to me. Do the things, get the release, then do this manifestation piece where you're like, okay, now that I am and my higher self, because I have released all of the things, where am I headed with this? That part, I get that.

Coralie

It makes sense to me too, because there's so many times where I've really, you know, wanted something and focused on it, like in business in particular. I'm thinking where it's like, oh, I really want to have this amount of income this month. And so I would do the things like manifest, you know, I want this many sales, right? This many sales to hit this income this month. And I would do all the things. I would do the the texts and the calls and the whatever and all the things that we do to market ourselves to get the sales. And then I would get so frustrated because nothing would come, nothing would come. And I would just be thinking about all the time and nothing would come. And then as soon as I would go, like, fuck it, I don't fucking care. Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. Every time.

SPEAKER_03

Every time. Yeah. So focus, focus on it, then release. Then release. Right. Set the intention. Focus. Let it go.

Amber

Now the old method apparently became um pretty hot on TikTok. It is. It blew up online. I think it's because it combined it combines several things that people are interested in. Manifestation, for one, like that's a huge thing. Sexual wellness, self-improvement, spirituality, personal empowerment. Like, who wouldn't want all of that tied into an orgasm?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

Amber

Yeah. It feels very hopeful. All right. And honestly, what's the harm? There's no harm in trying it. You're not gonna hurt anybody. If anything, you're just gonna help yourself.

Coralie

Yeah, it feels like it's just helpful in general.

Amber

Yeah, yeah. Regardless of whether it works or not, you still got off. You're happier that day.

Vicki

Yes, you are, and so is everyone around you.

Amber

If you guys had one thing that you wanted to choose to manifest tonight, what would it be? And be honest, like, don't say like winning the lottery, but like even our listeners, I want to want to hear in the comments, but what about you guys? If you had to manifest something tonight, you had to orgasm and do the the O method.

Vicki

I would say for me, it would be more financial success.

Coralie

I would say um I would probably manifest more energy to get everything I want to get done done. Because I feel like I'm always chasing like the to-do list. So that would just be nice to let that go. I mean, of course, I always want more money too, but I'm trying to think outside the box here, okay? Since Amber said I can't say I win one win the lotto.

Amber

No one is a wide net. You're allowed. Amber. I think I would choose feeling more comfortable in my body.

Vicki

That's great. All right. Now we're now we all have to try. That's it. We're doing it. All right. Big orgasm day over here at Nuts Lover Brunning. Almost done. Okay, so let's talk about dopamine. Dopamine is often called the pleasure chemical. And that's not entirely accurate, though. Um, it's actually more connected to things like motivation, anticipation, reward center, learning. So when dopamine rises, your brain pays attention. It says things like, This matters, remember this part. Okay. So that's really important because manifestation practices often involve repeatedly focusing on goals, um, emotional intensity. And uh our brains tend to just remember emotionally charged experiences more strongly. I it we all do, right? This is why we remember our wedding. We remember a car accident, we remember that embarrassing moment in grade seven, right? We can't let that go. Strong emotions make experiences more memorable. And orgasm is one of the strongest emotional and physical experiences that a human can have. So if you're pairing a goal with that emotional intensity, it may become more deeply embedded in your thinking. Let's talk about your reticular activating system. I did a lot of work on this with somebody that we knew years ago in our other business. Um, this is one of the coolest concepts. The brain receives millions and millions of pieces of information every second. And it can't process all of them. So the RAS reticular activating system acts like a filter, just kind of let some things go. It decides what's going to get your attention. So, for example, you buy a blue Honda Civic, suddenly you see blue Honda Civics everywhere. They didn't just suddenly appear, they were always there, but your brain is now noticing them. And some psychologists believe that goal setting works very similarly. Um, when you focus repeatedly on a goal, your brain becomes better at spotting opportunities related to it. Confidence in behavior is a big part of this. And this may be the least sexy but most realistic explanation. Imagine someone spends time visualizing their success. They feel optimistic, they feel empowered, they feel connected to their goals, and the next day they apply for the job, they start the project, they introduce themselves to someone new, they take a risk. Those actions can create real-world results, not because their universe changed, but because their behavior changed. So I think that's a really important piece when we're talking about what we were said above, when we're putting the intention out, we tend to do the work, like Coralie said. Well, then I start doing the work. And then sometimes we don't get the result right away, but maybe down the road we do.

Coralie

Right. Right. I think we, I don't know, I've said this so many times when talking about manifesting, because I do believe in manifesting and the power of positive thought and all that. And I think my life experience has led me to that. And when people, you know, sometimes we're like, oh my God, it's such woo-woo bullshit. But literally, manifesting isn't just sitting there going, like, oh, I want this to happen and it happens. It does exactly that. It makes you look for more opportunities to make it happen. And that's what makes it work. And that's why I get so mad when people, well, I don't get so mad, but when people are like, oh, it's just woo-woo shit that doesn't work. It works if you're doing it right. If you're just manifesting, you're not doing anything else besides manifesting, it's not gonna work. Right.

Vicki

And even if you don't feel like you know exactly the process, but you know that if you do the things that it will happen, or if you trust the process that you'll go in that direction, I mean, we just automatically drive ourselves in that direction. And I think all three of us have definitely experienced that. So why can't it apply here? Right. Right? Let's talk about the placebo question. So let's say the O method works because of expectation. Let's say belief increases confidence. Let's say that um confidence changes behavior. Let's say that behavior changes outcomes. At what point do we stop caring whether it's real or not? Right? Yeah, something still happened. It was good, it worked, right? Exactly. So yeah, I like it.

Amber

So if a practice makes you confident, it doesn't matter why. No, can you? It doesn't matter why. When I first read this, because Corley wrote this episode. When I first read this episode, I was like, damn, there is nothing wrong with this method, this thought process, this there is nothing negative about this. I feel like it's a win-win. Yeah.

Vicki

Right? If you do it, you will win. We don't know what that's gonna look like, but you will win. Something. Somehow.

Coralie

So we've talked about what people claim the O method does, and we talked about what could be happening inside the brain. Now, here comes the part where we ruin everyone's fun and ask the question: what does the research actually say? Don't say dumb. So there's a disclaimer is that there are currently no major scientific studies proving that orgasm manifestation causes a specific outcome to happen in the external world. But hey, if if you guys are looking for subjects, any scientists watching, sign me up. I think all three of us will be down. There's no study showing that orgasms attract money or soulmates, or they'll make your ex text you or improve your lottery odds. God, I hope not. I'm gonna stop doing that right away then. Move the exes out of it. But what there is research on is goal setting. And research consistently shows that people who clearly define their goals are more likely to achieve them because the specific goals helped help direct the attention and behavior, which is what we were just talking about earlier. And you're more clear. So instead of goals like I want a better life, you can say, I want to save $5,000. So our brains work better with these concrete targets. Um, athletes have been doing visualization for decades because studies have found that mentally rehearsing actions can improve performance. So, for example, golfers visualizing their putts or skiers visualizing their runs, or even public speakers visualizing their presentation. And the visualization itself doesn't magically create outcomes, wouldn't that be nice? But it does improve confidence, it improves your preparation, and it improves your performance. There's also research that suggests emotionally significant goals tend to be more motivating. So the stronger you have an emotional connection to that goal, the more likely we are to stay engaged to that goal, which raises an interesting point because the O method isn't just visualization, it's visualization combined with one of the strongest emotional and physical experiences available to humans.

Vicki

I think that the common theme for all of us here that we agree on is the fact that it this doesn't hurt anybody, right? This there's only bonuses here to visualize success and visualize more of what you want in life and visualize, and if we can use the energy from orgasms to do so, then so be it. I will try again.

Amber

Well, we all know that, and there's science behind it that visualization, uh, manifesting, it it works. Right. Why not add an orgasm for extra fun?

Coralie

I mean, right, yeah, absolutely, and then also too, you know, when you have an orgasm, you reduce your stress, you improve your mood, you're more relaxed, and you have better feelings of connection if you're with someone or to your goal. Connection to your goal. Yeah, the connection in general, and you're calmer, and calmer people make better decisions. Sure do. I see a pattern here.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah.

Vicki

Orgasms for everyone.

Coralie

That's right. Because when you are less stressed, you're more likely to take on an opportunity, you're more likely to communicate effectively, and you're more likely to follow through on your goals. So it's not magic, but it's definitely measurable. Let's talk about the placebo effect because that's real. The placebo effect. People often hear placebo and they think it's fake, but placebo effects can create measurable changes. I mean, I think it's so interesting when they do studies and there's the placebo group and the regular group, and you always there's so much, so many studies where the placebo group had significant change because our brains are so freaking powerful, right? Like they're so powerful. So if a person genuinely believes that this will help them, then their confidence might increase, their anxiety might decrease, and their motivation may increase. So getting your brain on board is important, and those changes can influence your behavior, and the behavior can influence outcomes. And the outcome is hopefully hitting your goal.

unknown

Yeah.

Coralie

Why do you guys think people seem more confident believing in luck rather than like their own brain power? Because I was like, oh, I'm just lucky, oh, yeah, so lucky, lucky. Like responsibility.

Vicki

Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own achievements and their own failures, right? Because if we take responsibility for one, we have to take responsibility for the other one, and that's uncomfortable. That's my opinion.

Coralie

Have you guys ever done something that sounded really ridiculous but helped you anyways?

Vicki

In my calendar, I have some set manifestations that pop up every morning so that I don't forget to do them. And every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do, I know they tell you not to, is open my phone, go to my calendar, and read my manifestation pieces, the ones that I that are my regular everyday. So the things that I want to manifest in my life, I read them every single day before I hit the floor.

Coralie

I do little things all the time. All the time. Um, our last house, when we were selling it, I was really anxious about it selling, and we had quite a few viewings and no one was put in offers. So I write online there's like an old wives tale about burying a saint something statue in your yard. And I did that and I got an offer on the house within a week. Ooh. So maybe the question isn't whether orgasms can magically deliver a dream life, but maybe the better question is whether combining intention, emotion, focus, and pleasure can change how we show up in the world. Can you imagine what a wonderful world that would be if everyone started their day with a manifesting orgasm?

Vicki

100% all day long. I mean, everybody should be having two a day anyway, one in the morning, one at bedtime. Um, attach manifestation to it. Can you imagine? So after looking at the O method, here's where we've landed. There isn't scientific evidence that orgasms send requests to the universe specifically, but there is evidence that intention matters, focus matters, emotion matters, and belief matters, and behavior definitely matters. So whether you think that the O method is manifestation, psychology, placebo, self-care, or just an excellent excuse to prioritize your pleasure, it highlights something that we don't talk about nearly enough. The connection between our minds and our bodies and the stories that we tell ourselves about what's possible. And if nothing else, this might be the only self-improvement strategy where nobody tells you to wake up at 5 a.m.
