The Lone Star Conservative

Government Neglect, Civic Victories, and Policy Debates: Lessons from North Carolina to Texas (10/1/2024)

Patriot Talk 920 AM

What happens when government neglect leaves communities stranded? Join me, Michael Wilson, on Lone Star Conservative as we confront pressing issues facing our nation. We begin with a hopeful reminder to seize each day, irrespective of challenges like the unyielding Texas heat. Our journey takes us into the heart of North Carolina, ravaged by Hurricane Helene, where the federal government's slow response has left residents relying on each other for survival. Hear firsthand accounts from Asheville, where a lineman paints a stark picture of the devastation and the pressing need for immediate aid. Together, we question the priorities of an administration that seemingly places foreign aid above its own citizens.

As we navigate the twists and turns of government spending, we scrutinize a recent decision by the Dallas City Council to fund cultural events while cutting resources from the Office of Equity and Inclusion. This move sparks a conversation about taxpayer interests versus government priorities. We also celebrate the power of civic engagement with the inspiring story of Whitesboro residents, who successfully rallied against a steep property tax hike, showcasing the undeniable strength of community activism. These examples urge us to consider if those elected truly reflect the values and needs of their constituents.

Finally, we tackle the contentious debates entwined with politics, labor, and immigration policies. From the National Defense Authorization Act and its impact on military policies to the potential economic repercussions of a dock worker strike, the conversation highlights the complexities of these issues. We also delve into election laws, immigration concerns, and the dynamic race for Speaker of the Texas House. These stories remind us of the importance of being informed and engaged citizens, ready to shape a future that aligns with our collective values and aspirations.

Speaker 1:

From deep in the heart of Texas, from Houston's God-loving patriot and the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative Michael Wilson.

Speaker 2:

I'm offended, you're offended, let's all get offended. Tonight I'll get a bandaid. Tonight I'll order us a beer. We can sit down right here and scream and yell and cuss and cuss and fight. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 3:

It is a fine Tuesday morning. It's going to be a great day. I have a feeling about today. I have a feeling about every day, because every day is a great day if you choose to make it a great day. I know that comes off as cringe and cliche, but it's true. Every day is a great day if you choose to make it a great day. I know that comes off as cringe and cliche, but it's true. Every day that you choose to make a good day can and will be a good day.

Speaker 3:

The weather outside right now is a cool 72 or 70 degrees. Actually I thought it was going to be 72. It's 70 degrees outside right now, but we're hitting. You know, we're going to hit 97 degrees at the peak of heat today, which is pretty unfortunate for everyone that lives here. Although look out for this weekend because we're supposed to get some rain, which will bring. Hopefully. What we're looking at right now is a cool front that we were supposed to have a cool front sooner than this. Uh, originally I was reporting that was going to be october 1st, which is today that we're going to be down in the the 80s, so that didn't quite work out. Hopefully this one does um and should be and should bring some highs in the mid 80s, so that didn't quite work out. Hopefully this one does, and should bring some highs in the mid 80s rather than the upper 90s. It's absolutely crazy.

Speaker 3:

Regardless of what we're facing, though, there's people that are facing much worse, and I'm not talking about the old line eat all your food because there's starving kids elsewhere. I'm talking about something serious happening right here on our home turf. Um, we continue to get more updates regarding hurricane helene, and really, one of the big updates right now is just the absolute absurdity that is our federal government, like there's going to be. They're looking at hundreds of thousands of people that are going to have no water for up for week, for for weeks from now. Um, to sum up, what's currently going on? The government is basically shuffling their feet, uh, doing almost nothing. They're doing very little to help anyone, and it's creating a lot of chaos. They're able to send billions to Ukraine, obviously. They're able to send billions to Israel, obviously, but it's the citizens, the American citizens, the citizens of this country, that they should be helping, and they're not, so instead, what you have is helping. You have neighbors helping neighbors, which is how it should be anyways, but that's what's happening. You have citizens who are having to help. Locals are using privately owned helicopters. You have people donating their own resources, financially and whatever else, from across the country and all around the country. You've got people like Elon Musk, who said that since the disaster, spacex has sent as many Starlink terminals as possible to help in affected areas of the disaster. I mean, literally just yesterday, trump told Elon that additional people needed Starlink in the area of North Carolina he was visiting and Elon started sending them like right away. This is my point. It's the citizens, and people are going to remember which presidential candidate was around first, because Donald Trump is running a GoFundMe page. He's out there, he's helping people, and people are going to remember that come November. Hopefully, people are going to remember that.

Speaker 3:

Meanwhile, I want to read this text from a lineman in Asheville. I think that it's tough because a lot of the reporting that's going on is coming from people that are inside and it's very. You know, we're not having, we're not getting a lot of local live coverage right now. We're not getting any answers from the government because they're not halfway there, and so I want to read this text from an actual lineman who's in Asheville, north Carolina, which is one of the majorly affected parts that got hit with the worst of the storm.

Speaker 3:

Quote went up Old Fort Road where it connects to number nine. Whole area is gone A hundred foot ravine where houses used to sit. Kids walking around naked asking where their parents are. People are begging for water. I don't want to talk about the smell of dead bodies. I'm in disbelief. That's a text from someone there that there's these kids wandering around, that they don't know where their parents are at. There's the smell of dead bodies lingering. There's ravines where there used to be houses and towns. It's destroyed and your government is too busy with foreign funding Billions of dollars of foreign funding. They're too busy helping foreign countries start a world war than they are for their actual citizens. That's the absurdity of the situation is that they've done little to nothing for us when it mattered. They've increased our taxes as frequently as they were allowed to.

Speaker 3:

They have consistently told us that there are valid reasons why they need to do what they do. We hear from Lena Hidalgo, even here in Houston, all the time about how good Kamala Harris was during the winter storm back in 2021. No, this administration does not care about you. This government setup, this system, does not care about you, and it is incredibly obvious every time we turn around. Now, of course, people are so upset about what's gone on in reference to the response from the federal government that of course now they're going to have to do something. Now they're forced to do something in order to even look like they're a government at all, in order to even have a shot at re-election. But the reality is they don't care and that's been obvious, given their first initial response to the people affected by Hurricane Helene that the government, by and large, does not care.

Speaker 3:

And I think people are waking up to that and they're realizing, if you want a government that cares, you're going to have to pick different people. And I think people are also waking up to the fact that you know, as citizens, we also should be doing things for other people, like I've always said, like the welfare state was created by two things failures of the church and overreach by the government, because the church is there to help widows and orphans, that they are supposed to be doing that. That is the purpose of a church, and when the church, by and large, is not the main mechanism of helping people, the government steps in and they use it as an opportunity to tax you further, to take more of your money. They're the least effective at it. I mean, look at the audits that are coming out about the homelessness epidemic over in California. In San Francisco they have a homelessness like department now that cannot show any viable statistics that they've had any success at all, and people are like that's crazy and I'm like that's not crazy because they're using it for income. That's money now that they've convinced you to give them and that money is going to be gone if they fix it.

Speaker 3:

It's the same thing with doctors. Do you think doctors, do you think that big pharma wants to cure you? Because if they cure you well, then they're not going to get any more money from you, and so the game is not to cure you. The goal is not to cure you. It is to treat you. In the same way that the goal is not to actually fix the homeless epidemic. The goal is to treat homelessness. It's to kind of move people around, get in there and walk away with hundreds more, millions more dollars than you had in taxpayer money before, and that continues to be the case.

Speaker 3:

That's the same thing with welfare the government does not care about people. If they did, we wouldn't just throw money at problems. Because let me tell you something, every study ever done on things like universal basic income, every major long-term study ever performed, has said the exact same thing Socialism doesn't work. Taking someone's money forcefully and just giving it to someone else never works. It does not work.

Speaker 3:

You know, what has worked throughout world history has been people of the church choosing, of their own free will, to help people, usually in exchange for things. Now, obviously it's probably much more generous than them going out and getting a job in the workforce of their own free will to help people, usually in exchange for things. Now, obviously it's probably much more generous than them going out and getting a job in the workforce this, that and the other but oftentimes what you'll find is that people of the church choosing to help In cases, especially like here in North Carolina, what you'll find are charities that are actively out there doing their best, doing everything they can, private citizens who are out there with their. I've heard stories of people that are getting their trucks and they're going out to try to help from places across the country. That is America, that is represented in America. You're not going to find that anywhere else. It's unfortunate that the government isn't there, but it's clearly an opportunity. One to show where the government's priorities are and, two, an opportunity for the citizens to do what God has intended them to do, which is to help each other.

Speaker 3:

Now, with that being said, I want to jump into a story out of Dallas, talking about taxes and where your money's being spent. There's a lot of things we want our money spent on. I think there's a lot of things that are valid for our money to be spent on. Fixing roads is one of the major ones. You know what one of them is not most of the time is hosting LGBT events. That's one of the big ones that I'm not personally a fan of, and yet the city of Dallas' new budget is set to help facilitate LGBT parades and race-based events. That's exactly what they've now passed. It's like they don't pay attention at all to what their people want. It's like the people that you've elected to represent you don't actually represent you at all, that they just completely do whatever they want. They go off on their own tangents.

Speaker 3:

The Dallas City Council unanimously this wasn't even just, like you know. Well, you know, let's talk about it and the conservatives dissented. They unanimously passed a $5.3 billion budget earlier this month. That has already happened. The Dallas Express reported that in the budget, the Office of Arts and Culture is going to boost cultural equity by supporting LGBT and race-based events in the city. The budget states that the goals for the Office of Arts and Culture include increased support for cultural equity through facilitating cultural celebrations throughout the year. Example this is quoted, by the way. I'm not giving you examples, I'm reading this from the budget in Dallas.

Speaker 3:

Example Black History Month. Hispanic Heritage Month. Indigenous Peoples Month. Pride, women's History Month. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Indigenous Peoples Month. Pride, women's History Month. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Speaker 3:

Senior public information official Ashley Rivera said the OAC is committed to hosting these cultural events. I'm glad you're committed to that. I'm glad, I'm very glad to hear that our city government, our local government, is very committed in general to hosting events, to hosting pride stuff. That's what matters. I mean, let's talk about the fact that my taxes have gone so far up that I'm being strangled in my own home. Let's talk about the fact that I can't afford holidays this year. Let's not talk about the fact that taxpayers, on average, are spending thousands, tens of thousands more every single year. Let's not talk about the fact that they've used market manipulation to bring down gas prices right before an election. Let's not talk about the fact that everyone is struggling now. No, let's be more committed to hosting cultural events, to hosting cultural events.

Speaker 3:

The Office of Arts and Culture mission is to support and grow a sustainable cultural ecosystem that ensures all residents and visitors have opportunities to experience arts and culture throughout the city. The work of the OAC is also guided by the cultural equity statement and priorities. That would be equity, diversity, space, support for artists, sustainable arts ecosystem and communication, as outlined in the Dallas Cultural Plan that was unanimously adopted by Dallas City Council back in 2018. So in June, the city of Dallas hosted its own all-ages LGBT event, which featured drag queens, trans services and sexually explicit merchandise for sale at booths in front of minors. Dallas' current fiscal year 2024 to 2025 budget cut the Office of Equity and Inclusion's funds by more than a quarter. However, the city continued emphasizing its work towards equity Quote. Budgeting for equity is a program created by the city to aid departments in integrating equity into their budget decision-making processes by asking them to analyze demographic data and identify potential disparities in operations or service provisions based on race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status. Its goal is to increase the percentage of cultural services for historically disadvantaged artists and organizations to 37% in the city. It's previously set at 34%. The new budget will give the OAC $20.6 million, which will be directed towards cultural venues it operates, including Moody Performance Hall, bath House Cultural Center, latino Cultural Center and South Dallas Cultural Center.

Speaker 3:

Executive Director of Texas Family Project, hayden Lopez, said that the city of Dallas should use the money to fix other issues pertinent to city management rather than diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Quote no tax dollars should be going to fund any DEI initiatives. Texans don't work hard to earn a living and pay their taxes for them to be wasted on projects for the LGBTQ movement. The city of Dallas has many issues that $2.6 million would easily fix, but instead they decided to cave to DEI. End quote. That's the case. It's true. It's unfortunately true and it's right in front of our faces. We talked about Hood County yesterday and how they adopted a no new revenue rate, and we're going to talk a little bit about another study that's done some pretty good things with their tax rate Whitesboro, which we talked about last week and how it was, it could be devastating with what they were looking to do.

Speaker 3:

But the reality is that, whether they increase taxes or decrease taxes, well, there's two realities. The first is that your government, if you live in Dallas, if you're up there, ladies and gentlemen, is spending $20.6 million this year on cultural initiatives, which include things like pride. The second and that's obviously what people are going to harp on, especially conservatives it's going to be the pride thing. I think it's good to harp on. I think it's automatically evil, inherently, to host a pride event. It's an added layer of evil if it's the government, using your tax dollars that you were forced, in other words, you are technically helping fund it. That's even more evil. But it's not really just about the pride events, in my opinion.

Speaker 3:

I think another one of the big problems that you're now facing is, well, frankly, it's that they're hosting events at all. I mean, at what point did it become the job of the government to fund events of any regard, even if they're good community events? I know you, I get it. We're all like, oh yeah, the city's hosting this and that and this and that. It's like, why Is it just me? That's crazy here, but I'm kind of upset about how much I'm spending in taxes. I kind of don't like how much I'm spending in taxes. I kind of don't like how much I'm paying in taxes. I kind of would prefer, as much as I love 4th of July, would prefer to pay for a couple tickets to a 4th of July celebration than I would for them to justify taxing me harder and harder every year under the guise of fun celebrations. I'm all for a hearty celebration, but I don't think the government should be hosting these. I don't understand why my tax rate is incredibly high and yet roads still take 55 years to build and that's not even being. That's not even an exaggeration if you live in Houston and we're using it to host events Like I get it. I understand the point.

Speaker 3:

I enjoy certain events, but this isn't, in in my opinion, just about pride. I think, no matter what event it is whether it's cultural heritage, latino, this Hispanic, that Asian, that pride women's that it doesn't matter. To be honest, it doesn't matter because the overall discussion should start leaning toward the fact that the government has a role and the citizens have a role. If you want fireworks, if you want a grill on 4th of July, if you want these things. You know what you should be doing. You should be going and doing them, and if you want the government to do these things, then that's not good.

Speaker 3:

It may not be socialism, because it's not being given to other people, but it's basically a version of it. It's a much more Americanized version of it, but it is nonetheless. It's the forceful taking of your money to do things that your money should not be being used for. That you can't. You have no say in.

Speaker 3:

What if you don't celebrate certain holidays, for example, like pride, or Latino heritage or Asian heritage or women's suffrage? What if these specific things that they want to celebrate you're not interested in? You think they're not going to tax you further. They're only going to tax people interested. No, that's how a free market works and the government is not a free market and they shouldn't be, and so the reality is that, whether it's Americanized or it's technically welfare, whatever it's things the government has no business doing. No matter how much you think you can justify it, no matter how much it's a widely celebrated thing, these are things the government has no business doing because they have a very specific role. Things like fixing roads, things like making sure that we have enough water. Things like prepping for hurricanes, things like helping out when there's a hurricane, a disaster area that has been so widely affected that millions are without power, hundreds of thousands are without water that is a much higher priority. That should be an easy spot where, if we can afford that, then it's time to not only enforce a no new revenue rate where we have no new taxes at all, but actually it's time to decrease taxes. But that's never going to happen because the government is a thirsty monster for more money and greed.

Speaker 3:

Now, when we get back from the break, I want to jump into another story. This is from Colin Allred. Into another story. This is from Colin Allred Speaking of LGBT agendas and how the cities want to host LGBT events. I think it's pertinent to talk about a very close election between Colin Allred and Ted Cruz, because Colin Allred, on top of everything else that he's done with the border, with the LGBT nonsense, with reproductive healthcare, well, now he's pushing this LGBT agenda onto the military and I think people are just done with it. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm Michael Wilson. Stick around, because I'll be right back.

Welcome back. Ladies and gentlemen. It's good to have you here, even though it's a little bit dark outside. It's a little bit early for some of you, but it's a good morning nonetheless. Unless you're Colin Allred To you, I do not wish you a good morning sir.

Speaker 3:

You do not deserve it, because you, colin Allred, have signed a letter urging the removal of provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act that restrict funding for transgender surgeries and LGBT activities in the military, because obviously those are things that we need. Back in June, congress passed the NDAA with provisions that would restrict access to funding for gender mutilating surgeries as well as certain LGBT activities, such as drag shows for military members and their families. They kind of realized actually, depending on this is not what people want. Our military signups are far down, they're in the toilet actually and the drag shows are not prompting anyone really to want to sign up, because the kind of people that generally, historically, would serve in the military for honor are not the same people that are interested in drag shows and transgender surgeries. Honor are not the same people that are interested in drag shows and transgender surgeries. So in a letter now to the House and Senate Committee on Armed Services, 160 Democrats, including All Red, called for the removal of these provisions, saying, quote if service members are concerned for their health care, their right to exist or the well-being of their children and loved ones, they cannot focus on their jobs, thereby weakening military readiness and retention rates. We strongly urge you to remove these harmful sections from the NDAA during conference negotiations. So the National Republican Senatorial Committee responded in a social media post where they said Colin Allred and Ruben Gallego are as radical as they come. When did drag shows and trans surgeries become a priority for our military readiness? And, given that he's currently challenging Ted Cruz for the race, this is what we could be experiencing in Texas. Is this level of radical behavior, this level of radical ideology? Quote this is from the Cruz campaign. Day after day, colin Allred shows Texans who he really is. He is from the cruise campaign. Day after day, colin all red shows texans who he really is. He is a radical who will destroy texas and america. His record on transgender issues puts your, puts our children and families at risk. The women and children of texas simply cannot afford to have him as the next united states senator representing texas. So this is again highlighting the importance of voting, because this is what we could get and listen.

Speaker 3:

They do lie because they talk about the right to exist, and this is the same phraseology they've used when they say that there's a trans genocide. What they mean by that, of course, is that there's a genocide on the transgender ideology, that we want the ideology gone, that we dismiss on hand the belief that someone is capable of becoming a man or woman if they were not made that way, that God makes people intentionally and you can't change it. That no amount of science and progression is going to be able to biologically change a man into a woman. We're not going to do that. That's not going to happen. It can't happen because it's not the way of the world. We're not going to do that. That's not going to happen. It can't happen because it's not the way of the world. It's not reality. And so, rather than fundamentally deny reality, we adhere to that reality and they say that we are committing a transgenocide or, as Colin Allred in his letter put it, kind of taking away their right to exist.

Speaker 3:

And then they just make the crazy claim that it's going to weaken military readiness and retention rates and it's like no, the reality is that military readiness and retention rates are down because nobody respects the US military anymore. And why would they? You've run it into the ground. People are like you've run it into the ground when what we see come out of that is trans surgeries and drag shows. What you've actually done is decrease military retention rates.

Speaker 3:

No one wants to serve, no one wants to go in in the first place and no one wants to stay. And again, why would they? I'm not even upset at the young men who are unwilling to sign up now. I frankly wouldn't want to serve. I would definitely not want to serve under Biden and Kamala. I would not want to serve under policies that are hosting drag shows. I don't want to go to that. I don't want anybody else to go to that either, and I certainly, as a citizen, do not want my tax dollars going to it. I should not. In any world, even if you go on an individual level, I should not spend a fraction of a cent on someone else's transgender surgery. I absolutely should not. It is insane that we are spending even a dime on it and it is insane that we have someone running in the state of Texas who supports that and has a shot at winning.

Speaker 3:

What is happening here, ladies and gentlemen, why are we not turning out? Why are we not? Why is it even? Is it an election? Why does it even look like one? This should be 90 to 10. And yet we're sitting here and we have a guy who wants your money to go cut off generals, who has an actual, legitimate shot at winning a Senate seat in Texas. That's where we're at.

Speaker 3:

This guy is radical. He's radical on the transgender front. He's radical on the military. He's radical on climate change. He's radical on the border. He's radical on gun control, and you're going to get that in Texas. If you don't stand up against it, if you don't ensure in any way possible that Ted Cruz wins, if you don't do that, you're going to get those things. You're going to get many more EPA regulations surrounding climate change. We know that he supports those. You're going to get transgender surgeries in the military. He's going to vote for it. You're going to get radical policies on the border and the border is going to get worse, because right now, the only reason the border is getting better is because it's an election season and because we have a Republican majority here in Texas. We start to lose those things. We start to lose the border and if he wins.

Speaker 3:

If you think there's a world where the fight for your gun rights does not get infinitely harder, you're mistaken. Now, on the bright side, we do have the best gun advocacy group and our sponsor, gun Owners of America, fighting for those rights. So the concern is much more minimal because of that, but the concern is there nonetheless. They know what people like Colin Allred stand for, people like Kamala Harris, people like Robert Francis O'Rourke, otherwise known as Beto. They know what they're for. They're for taking away your guns.

Speaker 3:

Colin Allred does not make any. He doesn't make any bones about it. He's upfront and honest. He's very transparent about the fact that he tries to say well, I'm a Texan too, I carry a gun, but the reality is that there's these school shootings. We got to do something about it, so let's do something. And that's not the right response. And it's a response that uses tragedy to prey on your emotions with the express intent of removing your rights and never giving them back. And gun owners of America sees through that facade and they fight against it. They stand up against those increased regulations, against the gun bans, against the mandatory buyback programs, against gun-free zones. They stand in favor of constitutional carry and constitutional carry alone, and that right there is the reason to become a member.

Speaker 3:

Even if Colin Allred wins, even if he loses, you need a group that is actively fighting day by day for our rights, and the best one by far is Gun Owners of America. So head on over to gunownersorg. You can become an annual member. So one-year membership for $25, and you can as well make a difference in that fight. You can as well help influence the outcome of our rights before they're gone for good. That's gunownersorg. Join today. When we get back from the break, we're going to jump on over to Whitesboro and how they had this upcoming tax vote that was going to come from the budget and the city council in Whitesboro was heavily considering using a loophole. We're going to talk a little bit more about that and what they ended up doing, who showed up to talk about it and the outcome of the possibility of a 30% tax increase. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Stick around, because the story got a whole lot better. We'll be right back.

Welcome back to the show. I can see the colors from the sun slowly creeping up, the blue of the sky, the pink just above the horizon. It's going to be a beautiful day, can tell you right now. It's going to be a hot one, but that doesn't. It's going to be beautiful nonetheless.

Speaker 3:

So whitesboro whitesboro citizens packed a public hearing and convinced officials you're not going to buy this convinced officials in in the city to reverse course on raising property taxes by as much as 30% without voter approval. After listening to public comments during a three and a half hour meeting, whitesboro City Council members voted unanimously to adopt the no new revenue tax rate and make cuts needed to balance the budget at the new rate. Ladies and gentlemen, this, right here, is exactly what every single person in every single city needs to be doing. We need to be mobilizing, just like the people of Whitesboro did. I'm going to dive into the story a little bit more, because it's incredibly enlightening and it's a good story and it gives us hope. And it gives us hope Because, keep in mind they were looking at a 30% increase with no taxpayer official. Voters did not have to approve it at all, they didn't have to vote on it, and now they're not going to do that, and that was primarily and really only due to backlash that they faced from their own citizens. You can have a direct impact. Show up. Here's why, after listening to these public comments, they changed their mind. After listening, they switched over. Now let's jump into some of this.

Speaker 3:

All the commenters spoke against raising taxes. There was no one in support of it, especially without voters having a say. This is from Wrightsboro resident, rebecca Meals. She said the citizens of this town are struggling. We're tightening our belts. When times are hard, you must adjust your budget. Meals and others questioned some of the proposed spending that was driving the tax hike, including a pickleball court and park bathrooms that were going to cost 320 000. Are the toilets made of gold? Asked meals.

Speaker 3:

Whitesboro, a city in Grayson County with a population of about 4,200 people, originally proposed a maximum tax rate of $0.51, which would be a 30% increase over the 2023 rate. That would have cost the average homeowner an additional $337 a year. The city planned to approve the huge tax increase without a public vote, using a carve-out in the 2019 property tax reform law that exempts municipalities with fewer than 30,000 residents from a 3.5 voter approval cap imposed on larger cities. Following an earlier tax rate discussion, city officials lowered their proposed rate to the voter approval rate of 0.49 cents, which is still, by the way, a 25 increase. So it's not like they're like doing that much better. Yet at the beginning of the meeting, the city administrator proposed yet another tax rate of 44 cents, which is only a 10% increase. They're trying to kind of bring it down Like let's compromise. We were going to shoot for 30. You want to shoot for 10? People were not having it Even at 10,. They were like look, we're done with this.

Speaker 3:

While citizens in the standing room only room crowd were happy to see officials cut several wishlist items, they balked at officials voting on a budget the public had not seen, and then citizens then continued to advocate for no tax increases. Quote you haven't done your job as as leaders. That's from uh, former whitesboro alderman colby meals. He was criticizing several aspects of the budget, tax rate and city's decision to hold the final public hearing and vote just before the deadline. They held it right before the deadline, so there wasn't really any time to make a change. He pointed out that removing expenses like remodeling City Hall would make a tax increase unnecessary. This budget needs serious work. That's for Rebecca Mills. But you're out of time and you have no choice. Increasing property taxes should not be the first choice, noting especially that low-income homeowners non-homeowners are hit hardest by the increases. They suggested that dissolving the city's economic development corporation and returning the money to the taxpayers would more than cover the ridiculous tax increase.

Speaker 3:

Then Shelly Luther, who's the Republican candidate for Texas House District 62, which includes all of Grayson County, spoke to Whitesboro council members during the meeting. Luther cautioned that if small cities abuse the tax increase exemption intended for emergency purchases, lawmakers will remove the exemption. It's one of those, for lack of a better analogy we can't have nice things If you're going to take advantage of and abuse the system put in place so that in an emergency you can do these things when necessary. If you're going to, then take that and say but we want a pickleball court, yeah, but we want to remodel city hall. That's not the purpose, and if that's what you're going to do with with the opportunity you have, then you're not going to have the opportunity anymore. We're not going to play that game with you. And so they were basically threatened into this decision. But I have no problem with that. Maybe they should be. So she urged the city officials to listen to their constituents and adopt the no new revenue rate. Mayor David Blaylock, immediately after that, says we can do that. Alderman Ronnie Fielder, stacey Miles, mike Pack and Carla Woolsey voted in favor of the no new revenue rate, making the vote unanimous. Alderman Sue Welch was absent and the mayor only votes to break a tie. The vote also directed city administrator Julie Arrington to revise the budget which was approved by law just before the tax rate vote. So it balances based on the tax revenue rate.

Speaker 3:

Council members received a round of applause following their vote. Quote this was such a great win for White's pro citizens and all of Grayson County, said Joy Roberts, a local grassroots activist with Grayson County Conservatives, encouraging when people say no to New Texas and win. That was from her husband. It shouldn't be this hard. It was a packed house tonight in Whitesboro. The good people came out and made their appeals and the city officials changed course. So of course then the city officials kind of tried to. What they said wasn't technically bad and I agree with what they said, but it was kind of the way they said it. So they said that prior budget hearings were not well attended and encouraged more citizens to attend future meetings and make their voices heard. It was like one of those things where, see, we wouldn't have even known. You guys have to come out here and let us know what you want from us. It's like no, no.

Speaker 3:

First of all, I agree on principle that the citizens should make their voices heard, that they should show up to meetings and they should have a direct impact on the way that the city council is voting. I agree with that. I also think that city council is filled with genuine morons. If you think that your citizenry wanted to be taxed at 30 percent or 25 percent, if you think for even half a second that the citizens of Whitesboro, that the good people of Grayson County, were interested in being taxed at 30 percent and you just wouldn't have known had they not shown up to the city council meeting, you're an idiot. It's the same two options there always are. I give the same two options every single time we face a situation like this. Here's the two for a refresh. You are either all morons this is due to genuine incompetence and negligence, no intelligence up in the brain area or you're a liar. You're evil. Whatever works in each situation it changes just minorly, but the principle stays the same.

Speaker 3:

So, either when you say that well, the prior budget hearings you didn't show up, we didn't know what you wanted, you need to be more active so that we know because we represent you, no-transcript, obvious that no amount of incompetence can justify what happened. No amount of incompetence can justify using the emergency resource loophole to raise taxes by 30% to get some new fun things when the people are struggling like they are today. You can't possibly tell me that you actually thought that anyone in your that you represent, anyone that voted you in, wants that. There was not a single person who showed up and said no, no, please, we really want the pickleball courts. No, please, we want the new park bathrooms. No, please, remodel City Hall. Nobody, not a single soul at that meeting did that. So if you actually think that your citizenry is interested at all in those things, then you have zero connection with them, you know them none and you do not deserve to represent them because you don't.

Speaker 3:

I cannot think of a city on this, on this, in this country right now that if you asked the, the, the population, if they were interested in a 30% tax increase, if it meant pickleball courts. I can't think of a city, single city, that would vote yes on that. I can't think of one. You know why? Because no one wants to spend that kind of money. They would much rather keep that money in their savings accounts that they have with our sponsor, old glory bank. You see, old glory bank has a bank account, for they have banks, bank accounts, for reasons. The primary reason is that they understand that people are struggling. They understand that people don't have a lot of money, but they do have some and and you have to store it somewhere. So why not store it with an organization, with a company that believes the same things that you do, that cares about the same things you do, and one of those things is that they care about you. There's no drawbacks to banking with them and, taking just eight minutes, I don't see a viable reason why you wouldn't.

Speaker 3:

No matter where you're banking right now you're not getting a better deal, you're not banking with a bank that cares about you more. You're not getting a bank with better customer service. You're not getting a bank with more American values. Unless you switch, I guarantee you your bank doesn't have any of those things that are even close to competing with Old Glory Bank, because Old Glory Bank that's who they are Like, down to the very founding. That's who they are, and so I don't think you're banking with a bank right now that has any of those things any better than Old Glory Bank is. It's likely far worse. And so if you want a bank that cares about what you care about, and if you want a bank that cares about you, you got to make the switch today over to Old Glory Bank and go to oldglorybankcom, sign up online. It takes just eight minutes of your time to make the switch to a bank that values your values and that loves you.

Speaker 3:

Now, when we get back, I want to jump in to another story. But now, when we get back, I want to jump in to another story, and this one, I think, is going to be really interesting. It's going to be about some dock workers and an upcoming possible strike that I'm going to have to do some more reporting on in the coming days because, believe it or not, this strike is scheduled for tonight, so I guess we'll see how that goes. Speaker 3:

So a potential strike of dock workers could have major implications for Texas and the national economy. The strike is currently being threatened by the International Longshoremen's Association, which is demanding higher wages and a ban on automation for loading and unloading freight on cargo ships. Now listen, I'm not usually a fan of strikes like in general, I'm just not. I think they're terrible. I think that you choose to work somewhere, so you work there. You're not. You don't have all the power. It's a relatively in my opinion, oftentimes Marxist principle that the employers or the employees are in charge. No, if you don't like working there, if you don't like what they're going to do, then are in charge. No, if you don't like working there, if you don't like what they're going to do, then quit. However, I think there are some times when people banding together is a good thing. I think there can be instances of that. I actually think, more than likely, that this might be one of them.

Speaker 3:

Based on the things I'm currently reading, I could be wrong. My mind might change on that. Just where I'm at, at 653, 654 on Tuesday October 1st, that's just where I am today. So the union represents around 45,000 dock workers from Maine all the way down to Texas. The union plans to go on strike Tuesday at midnight. Oh, so if it's Tuesday at midnight, then I was mistaken. It sounds like it's already happened so seven hours ago. I guess they're not. Really. We won't know, probably throughout today, how the implications are going to look and what's going to happen, but it's already started. Uh, as far as I'm aware, because their current agreement with the us maritime alliance expires at all atlantic and gulf coast points or ports, while the federal government could intervene to extend negotiations and delay a strike. Uh, joe biden has so ruled that out, saying he supports the union's collective bargaining effort. Maybe I don't like this If Joe Biden's on board with it, though, joe Biden also wore a Trump hat the other day, so I don't know. I don't know. Maybe I do, maybe I don't. I'll probably think more about it before I give you my full official opinion, but currently I think it sounds decent.

Speaker 3:

A strike could affect billions of dollars in trade, according to a report from Barron's, as well as higher prices and decreased supply for consumers. The Port of Houston is the nation's largest port for waterborne tonnage, supporting 1.54 million jobs and $439 billion in economic value in Texas alone, so there's a lot of direct impact on Texas infrastructure and whatnot. Here's the thing and Tucker Carlson has made this point better than almost anyone else has which is, if things are bad, then why do we do them in the name of progress, and conservatives are usually good about this. With technology, they're a little less good. But let me ask you a question Do you think that child slavery is bad?

Speaker 3:

Yes, okay. So should we enforce things where it's not happening, even if it means more money for companies, even if it means cheaper products? Yes, we should outlaw that, even if it raises prices. Some, so that other countries are limited in what they can do, so that the companies that trade over in other countries are forced to bring that manufacturing back home and then abide by our child labor laws. Right, because companies will go to other countries where they can get cheaper labor and abuse workers, rather than be here, where we have strict laws. Do you think that we should prevent them from doing that with tariffs and fees and penalties? I do. I think most Republicans do.

Speaker 3:

Let me ask you another question Do you think the government should, or companies should, work to stop developing AI, to stop developing robots that are going to take American jobs? Well, it would be good for companies. In a certain sense. It would be good, possibly, for money-making purposes, but is it what's best for Americans? I don't think you can really argue and say that AI automation robots for some of these industries.

Speaker 3:

I'm not saying that we should not do AI at all. I'm not saying that it doesn't have its benefits. What I am saying is, I think that, by and large, automation of a lot of these industries is going to cripple the working class, and to do that in the name of technological advance, like there's no other reason to do it, like it's progress for the sake of progress. You say it will be cool, it will be fun, it will be easy, it will be cheaper Sure, but those aren't benefits here. The only people that benefits are the owners.

Speaker 3:

That's it, and we don't know what impact that will have on the economy and if it will actually end up benefiting over anybody over the long term. What we do know is that it will cripple the working class, it will cripple people in the trades. It would be terrible, and I don't see a reason why we should automatically support something terrible just because it's progress. I just don't see that being true, and so I think it would be much better if we did not do that and instead limited that option. So right now, I'm a pretty big fan of it. Now, when we get back at the top of the hour, we got some more stuff to go over. Specifically, we're going to jump into the Catholic Charities of Fort Worth. We've talked about them before, but they're doing even worse things now. We're going to talk about that more when we get back. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative.

Speaker 1:

From deep in the heart of Texas, from Houston's God-loving patriot and the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative Michael Wilson.

Speaker 2:

I'll order us a beer. We can sit down right here and scream again and cuss and cuss and fight.

Speaker 3:

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to the Lone Star Conservative. That's me, your host, michael Wilson, and it's a beautiful morning. I can see just a little bit of fog over the skyline in downtown. It's beautiful. God has really done something great. I really I don't.

Speaker 3:

I wish I could comprehend the lunacy in the mind that could lead you to believe that all of this evolved by random chance. I just I don't have the luxury of believing something that's so outrageous. Seriously, I can't fathom the mental condition you have to have to believe that this whole entire world. You look at a watch and you assume, automatically and rightfully so, that someone made that watch. You see a car like a Corolla that can get 700,000 miles or more and you go, wow, that's a feat of human engineering. You look at the reusable rockets that are going to make it to Mars and you're like, wow, what a feat of human engineering and ingenuity. But then you look at a billion times more complex things, a bunch of them and an entire endless, faceless universe, and you say, ah nah, chance just randomly happened that way. I don't know. I think that when you think about it it sounds a little bit stupid, but maybe I'm wrong. You know what else is pretty stupid the Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, which this is not even a doc on Catholics. Quite frankly, this is to doc on people that are using um, that are using these sorts of names, that are not actually hearing to it.

Speaker 3:

I'll give you a good example of this is is even in the Protestant church. You know, they, these people that claim to be Christian and then they support pro-choice people. Uh, there's, there's a big movement in the big Eva, big evangelical, you know, I call it that. Like there's big pharma, big medicine, big food. Big Eva is one of those. You have movement in the big Eva from people like the Ortlunds and these sorts of people who are fans of Kamala. They're going to vote for Kamala over Trump because Trump's a sexual abuser and he's shown no signs of real Christianity. Yeah, and Kamala is going to murder millions of babies and also send us into a communist dictatorship. But congratulations, go off, go off, pastor. It's the same thing. This is not the Catholic church. This is a Catholic charity that is abusing the name. But the Tarrant County chair of the GOP. His name's Beau French. He's absolutely based. I love a lot of what he says. I don't agree with him on everything, but I don't know anybody that I agree with on everything. But I like a lot of what he says, and he's revealed that the Catholic Charities of Fort Worth get this on top of everything else we've already talked about before, about them. They're now working with an organization with ties to Islamic terrorism, and that's not even hyperbolic. That's what's going on here.

Speaker 3:

Ccfw, the Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, recently came under scrutiny for its unique relationship with the Biden-Harris administration. So this is going back a little bit. The arrangement that they have that we've talked about before essentially means that all federal grants, that all of the grants for the state of Texas regarding cash payments to what they call quote-unquote refugees, is going to go to this charity specifically, with them receiving then sole discretion over who receives the money and how they receive it. So the government says this money is for refugees, we give it to this one big charity out of Dallas and they're going to dole it out. They're going to be fair, they're going to be honest, they're going to be transparent and they're going to do it however they want. Now the biden harris administration doesn't actually care or expect that, and ccfw is not doing that, but that that's what they're claiming right. So, with those federal funds, ccfw established the texas office fores to handle grants dispersed by the Biden-Harris administration. Since 2022, the organization has received more than $800 million from the Biden-Harris administration to aid illegal aliens.

Speaker 3:

Ccfw CEO Michael Igleo responded to French's findings saying that their money and help only goes to legal immigrants. That's not true. That's a straight up lie. Quote at CCFW. Through our Texas Office for Refugees Department, we assist eligible clients who have been legally admitted into the United States. This includes refugees who are legally admitted after undergoing a rigorous, multi-stage vetting process conducted by multiple federal agencies, as we're going to get to in the next story. By the way, that's also a lie. Additionally, igleo states that TXOR administers federal funds from the Office of Refugee Resettlement and partners with more than two dozen nonprofits across Texas. However, one of those nonprofits, which also partners directly with CCFW, so it's like a win-win for them, is the Islamic Circle of North America. Now, the organization is known to advocate for ending the what they call the Israeli apartheid state. They have ties to terrorist organizations, they host pro-Hamas protests at both the Texas and the US capitals and they basically just quote Palestinian talking points. Essentially, according to French's findings, icna, the Islamic Circle of North America has partnered with CCFW for years.

Speaker 3:

In a 2021 Fort Worth Report article, hala Halabi, the director of refugee facilitation for ICNA's Dallas branch, stated they've been collaborating with CCFW and said they've been there I mean step by step with us. Then, in 2022, icna posted about an event stating it is always nice meeting with our great partners Texas Office for Refugees, with our great partners Texas Office for Refugees. In April, president Joe Biden's Assistant Secretary of the Population, refugees and Migration Bureau also held an event with ICNA and CCFW, thanking them for their help in resettling refugees in Dallas and Fort Worth. According to her post, the organizations listed had helped bring in 50,000 people by April 11th of 2024. Ccfw's website for the TXOR department lists 22 service providers around the state. The organizations include ICNA of Dallas and ICNA of Fort Worth.

Speaker 3:

Icna is a quote-unquote domestic affiliate. They're honest about this. They're a domestic affiliate of the Pakistani terrorist group Jamaat-e-Islami, as stated by a resolution of the US House of Representatives back in 2019. Additionally, in a brochure from ICNA, their stated goal is to achieve the pleasure of a law through the establishment of the Islamic system in this land. In other words, they want Sharia law as the law of the land for America, which, of course, everyone who is in Islam wants that as well, as most people who are Christians would like to see the law of God more perpetrated throughout the US. We believe that the law of God is good. Therefore, it would be good for the nation to follow it. That's the same thing with Islam. You can't fault them for that. If they believe what they believe, it makes sense. Why wouldn't they? But a lot of people are trying to pretend like that's not the case. It is so. Icna even works with Al-Qidmat, which is the charity wing of Jamaat-e-Islami and is allegedly funding and supporting Hamas terrorists, like with their own money. No-transcript.

Speaker 3:

The right has gotten really good at religious liberty, which I think is is a fake, made-up term. Religious liberty does not really exist because it is to assume that there's things that you should be allowed to do that you should not like. We should not allow those gigantic statues of buddha in the us. I'm sorry, I don't think that you have the right to do that. I don't think it's right. I think that the government should absolutely be able to say we don't want huge statues of buddha. I think it's a good thing. The same way, I think that it's a good thing that we should say I don't think we should have, uh, demon statues in the capital. I think that we should outlaw that right.

Speaker 3:

In the same way, we've tried to get religious liberty and so because of that, we've tried to then say well, there's ways to be in Islam while not being a jihadist, while not believing in the violent rhetoric, and it's like, okay, but that's like saying you can be a Christian without believing that Jesus died. No, you can't. That's a fundamental belief. If you believe in, if you want to be a Christian, it requires that you follow the Bible. You can't be pro-choice and Christian. You just can't. You cannot be anti-Jesus and be Christian. You cannot be Mormon and be Christian. You can't believe that there was intercourse between Mary and just no. And it's the same thing here.

Speaker 3:

If you actually believe in Islam and you follow the good book, that you follow, you follow the Koran, then you believe that it is the duty of you to commit jihad, even if that's strategic, depending on how you do it. And you also believe that if you get called out for that, you're allowed to lie about it, like you're given a special provision to lie to infidels so that you don't get in trouble for your beliefs. And so people are like. I have Islamic friends. I believe that Islam is fine.

Speaker 3:

I think that Islam there's those violent ones out there, but that's not all of them. Well, there's two options. No-transcript. Really a Christian? He's not really a Catholic. Kamala Harris is not really any of those things. A person is not really in Islam. If they don't believe that jihad is the duty of an Islamist because it says that it is. That's in their book. They'd be defying their own religion. So the publication has also published interviews with terrorist leaders who have said they support the Islamist movement's goal to establish a global caliphate. In 2019, the Islamic Circle hosted its convention, featuring a member of the Jamaat-Islami terrorist group. The member, youssef Islahi, has reportedly blamed Jewish people for the 9-11 attacks, describing it as a fitting response to American arrogance. So French told Texas Scorecard that these groups are funded by the Biden-Harris administration.

Speaker 3:

Bringing Trump back into office may be the only hope to stop the invasion of the border. Quote the Harris-Biden administration is giving billions to NGOs to fund the invasion and give our hard-earned taxpayer money to illegal aliens. These NGOs are even working with groups who support Islamic terrorism. Electing Donald Trump is the only hope we have to stop it and listen and hear me here, because this is important. The Biden-Airs administration is doing a lot of really bad things. A lot of really bad things, but I think topping the list is their handle on immigration, is the way that they've handled migrant, what they call the migrant crisis, which they're the cause of. It's always fascinating to me when somebody says, oh yeah, the migrant crisis, as if it was a crisis and not intentional, right? But listen, even talking about Hurricane Alina, we can't get away from it because apparently eight migrants let me say I've got to be careful Eight alleged migrants have been arrested in eastern Tennessee for robbing flood victims.

Speaker 3:

Like that's going on. Local communities are trying to recover from apocalyptic-level flooding and you have these guys who are robbing people. I'll even read their names. You have Albin Nahun, vega Rapallo. You have David Byron, rapallo Rapallo. Kevin no Martinez Lopez and Marvin Hernandez Martinez and Daylon Gabriel Gillen. Why do they have two last names?

Speaker 3:

Anyways, they were all charged with aggravated burglary. Jesus Leodan Garcia Pineda and Josue Barada Ortiz Valdez and Ursi Leonel Ortiz Valdez were all charged with burglary. So you had aggravated burglary and you had burglary Either way. Both of these people are being charged with essentially the same thing. Locals are using privately owned helicopters. They're helping their neighbors, but you have migrants that are capitalizing on the tragedy and looting people, robbing them, hurting them more than they've, devastating them more than they've already been devastated. You know whose fault it is that those people are even here. You know whose fault it is that we even have these migrants to deal with in the first place. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris they are the reason, specifically, that we are facing the situation we're facing. They're the reason that we even have people here who are robbing other people. Those people wouldn't be here if it weren't for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris here. But then they're turning around and they're giving 800 million dollars to charities, with that money specifically being given to refugees, illegal aliens.

Speaker 3:

They want to say they're illegal. In the same way, they want to say the Haitians are legal. As if the president or vice president doing back door things to all of a sudden change the rules makes it legal. No, actually it doesn't. You can't executive order your way into creating illegalities. You can't do that. You cannot say, well, it was the emergency response, and list like a 50-word document, a 50-word like title it's the emergency response authorization and run your mouth with a word salad and say so it's fine that they're here. No, they're still illegal.

Speaker 3:

Just because you're letting them stay, just because you tried to draw up your own version of what legal means, does not change the fact that in America they are illegal aliens. They are not citizens. They should not be here, and when they are here, they rob, they kill, they loot. And remember, donald J Trump said these things in 2015 and was bashed harder than I've ever seen someone bashed for being a racist, they said. He called them drug runners and rapists. I can't believe it. He's a crazy xenophobic racist. As it turns out, maybe that was true. Maybe it was true that they were those things and maybe it was true that we should have done our very darned best to keep them out, because now we're giving $800 million to one charity in Texas to dole out money to them in totally untransparent and no accountability ways, and apparently that charity is teaming up with Islamic groups that are teamed up. It's like you're one step away. You're one circle away in LinkedIn. You're one little step. They're one step away from Islamic like legitimate Islamic terror's being given indirectly to people that are supporting illegal aliens and to groups that fund terrorism.

Speaker 3:

So we're going to have more on the border at 7.30, but in the next segment when we get back from the break. I actually first want to talk about Dade Phelan, because Dade Phelan is here. You know, there's the old phrase between a rock and a hard place. That is exactly where Dade Phelan finds himself now, because Republicans don't like him and Democrats have their own person running. So I don't know exactly what's going to happen to poor old Dade Phelan, but right now it's not looking so hot for him. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Be right back.

Speaker 3:

Welcome back everyone to the Lone Star Conservative. It's good to be with you this morning. You know who's not having a good morning Our poor old friend, dave Field. He's not having a good morning mainly because he's starting to wake up to the fact that he's going to literally have to have a bunch of Democrat support if he wants any shot at winning. Like that's where the numbers are at now.

Speaker 3:

Now, the ever-shifting landscape that we're seeing for the race for speaker of the House had its most recent shift over the weekend as challenger David Cook, who was if you remember that secret vote that was taken where they all kind of put their support behind someone to try to pick a guy David Cook and one of the other guys were like the final two, but I think it was going to come down to David Cook. So he just released a list of 48 Republican colleagues who says they are committed to his candidacy over current Speaker Dade Phelan. Two members were listed as anonymous, while Cook noted several others have expressed commitment to reform but chose to wait until after their November election. They're a little bit scared that Dade Phelan has enough power to make sure they lose or whatever, while it remains to be seen whether some candidates on that list, such as Steve Kennard and Don McLaughlin, will be successful in their bids to flip currently Democrat-held districts so like. They're committed to it as candidates, but they may not win. The number makes up a majority of Republicans, with or without them. As there are currently 86 Republicans in the Texas House, the field of challengers to Phelan narrowed from five members down to Cook, a state representative from Mansfield. After a private meeting earlier this month held by the same group of members Following the secret meeting to pick Cook as the challenger to Phelan, he said in a statement that he had the majority of votes needed to be Speaker today and will still have the majority supported to become Speaker again come January. If this group of reformers sticks together or grows through January, dave Phelan will need Democrat votes to become Speaker again, which is accomplished by gaining the votes of 76 of 150 members.

Speaker 3:

The outsized influence of Democrats on the speaker race and the legislative agenda of the House has been a motivating factor in the movement to oust Phelan, with Cook coming in despite all the drawbacks, because again we know that he was part of the impeachment sham. We know that he was voting for that. We have quite a few people, even here in Houston, that were part of that. You know Not to name names, but you have Lacey Hull and you have Mano de Ala. Defend yourselves if you will, but I automatically trust you a little bit less if you tried to oust Ken Paxton, which Cook did. However, he has promised to end what Phelan has crazily and absurdly done, which is giving Democrat chairmanships, and to work quickly to pass you know whatever. Trying to go against what Texans actually want Makes absolutely no sense. Why you would do that. Like I can't think of a single reason other than when the time comes that you need Democrat support, you'll get it. Maybe that's the whole point is is that you know he drives?

Speaker 3:

to claim it's because he wants bipartisan agreement and to work together, but we don't agree with him. Why would you put them in positions of power? That makes no sense. They'd be like I want to work, I want to make sure that we can get everyone on board to something, so I'm going to give prominent positions of power to Islamists. It doesn't make any sense why I would do that. There's just no benefit, and so the only benefit probably is to preserve power, and the Republicans are tired of that answer. They're tired of the rhinos that are playing that game, and so Cook has a legitimate chance here. So he's promised to end that practice of giving Democrats chairmanships, but he's also promised to work more quickly to press Republican priorities.

Speaker 3:

Because Phelan has failed Things like school choice should have been done years ago and because of the speaker of the house, it's just not getting done. Um, with the window for feeling to secure a majority of the republican colleagues significantly narrowing feelings past, the speakership currently rests on democrats and a minority of republicans teaming together. Adding to that difficulty, though, you have the fact that, in addition to david cook running against him, you also have a candidate from the democrat party already running for speaker, that's state representative, anna maria ramos. If she maintains her candidacy through the vote for speaker on January 14th, phelan's going to need even more Republican defectors to join him so problematically. Actually, you've got two Republicans right now running. You've got a Democrat. Maybe more people will join. They still have time to join, though the odds of that, I think, are relatively low.

Speaker 3:

And one thing the Democrats are good at the Republicans have historically been very bad at is mobilizing and agreeing on something right like you still have. A lot of Republicans are like Ron DeSantis. I'm gonna write him in. It's like no, everyone needs to be voting for Trump. Okay, everyone needs to vote for Trump. That's the answer, whereas pretty much every Democrat is is is easily gonna vote Kamala Harris. No, no question about it. Even if they don't like Kamala Harris, if they're a Democrat, they're going to vote for her because she's the Democrat. They're very good at sticking together, even if they have minor disagreements.

Speaker 3:

We're not so good at that, and, frankly, what we have with Phelan is not a minor disagreement. You putting Democrats in chair positions and you not passing really important things very quickly. Those are things that disqualify you from the position you should have been disqualified from serving at all and you would have been, had it only been registered Republicans voting for you. But Democrats switched over so that you had a chance and now you're relying on that again that Democrats will come over and vote for you because you're not going to win with Republicans. You're done. We're done with you.

Speaker 3:

Hopefully David Cook wins. That's obviously the major hope. I don't know what the odds and the likelihood of that are, but hopefully he wins, because if Phelan wins, things get a whole lot harder to deal with. If Phelan wins, it becomes a whole lot more difficult, as it has been for years, to pass anything good and to stop anything bad. We have a very difficult time when you have these sorts of people like Dave Veland. You have these rhinos. It becomes significantly harder for us to put through good programs like school choice, and it becomes significantly harder to fight against bad programs like gun control, which is why it is so important that you join with our sponsor, gun Owners of America.

Speaker 3:

Gun Owners of America. Regardless of who's in the speaker position, regardless of who's won what, they are singularly focused on preserving your rights. When it comes to the Second Amendment, they're the most pro-Second Amendment gun advocacy group on the planet, in my humble opinion, but don't take me for my word. You can go to gunownersorg. You can read all about it, you can talk to them. They're a grassroots organization. They love being involved in the community. They come out to pretty much all the gun shows with us because they love what we're about and they love talking to people. They love getting to know people and people getting to know them. You don't find that with anybody else and it's a good thing. They do that because it shows where their priorities are and it's actually on preserving your individual rights. They believe in that. They know that if Dade Fiedland wins, it's going to be harder. They know that if people like Colin Allred win, it's going to be harder. But they're not scared of harder, they're just going to pick up the slack. They're going to fight even more because that's what they do and that's what they can do for you. If you become a member for just $25 a year, you can go to gunownersorg to become a member. Again, that's an annual membership, not monthly. I think with the prices of things nowadays, you expect me to say it's $25 a month. It's not. It's $25 a month. It's not, it's $25 a year and you can become a member of Gun Owners of America and be a part of the fight to ensure that our Second Amendment rights are not decimated by bad speakers and bad representatives, because if we don't do something, there's a very high likelihood we will lose those rights.

Speaker 3:

Now, when we get back to the break, I want to jump into a couple stories. The first is which one? Being coming back to the border situation and some abysmal numbers being released by the Biden-Harris administration regarding the criminals they've let in. We already talked about how they're funding these charities, specifically to give hundreds of millions of dollars to illegal aliens, and now they're telling us how many of these illegal aliens, I would say, are criminals. They're all criminals definitionally, but which ones were already criminals? It's unsurprising. And yet every single time that I see more updates about how bad it is, it's infuriating. We'll talk about that when we get back. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm Michael Wilson. Stick around.

Speaker 3:

Welcome back everybody to the Lone Star Conservative. It's a good morning. It's a great morning. I have to say those things repetitively. You know this is actually scientifically true, that the way the brain works this is fascinating. The way God designed this, the way the brain works, is that it forms legitimate bridges. Thoughts actually are physical things. Like you can see thoughts, the way that neural impulses work, and it's pretty crazy because you can see when you think about something a new thought for example it legitimately forms a bridge in your brain. You can physically see that bridge. It gets formed, it forms a new bridge. If you think the same thought, that bridge gets formed Like it strengthens it. The bridge gets bigger, gets formed Like, it strengthens it, the bridge gets bigger. So, quite literally, the more times you think about something, the more times that bridge is reinforced, the more that thought's going to inherently be on your mind and then it's a cycle.

Speaker 3:

Right, that's what they used communism for. By the way, that's how they did it In China. They had what they called complaint groups, where you would air out your complaints every single day and the poor people in the communities. Their complaints were always kind of, they were jealousy, and they knew that they admitted that they're like I don't want to be jealous, but I am. I'm kind of upset that these people have all the money and we don't. That was their complaint. The problem was that when you did that for every single day for years, all of a sudden it wasn't just a complaint anymore. These people hated the wealthy. They hated them. Murders started happening from citizens because they hated the elites. That's exactly that was their strategy. They didn't know the science behind it. Then they just understood that it worked. But now we know the science because you're forming legitimate neural pathways in your brain that are getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

Speaker 3:

If you tell yourself every morning, even if you don't believe it at first, if you tell yourself out loud it is a good day, it is a great day, it is a fantastic, beautiful day that God has given me to do good things. If you say that all the time, you actually will believe it. You actually will believe that thing more and more and more, and that's how you have all these people. You're like how do these people have such positive attitudes? Because they're choosing to like, literally, you chose to do that. Your brain controls you, don't. Your brain doesn't control you. You control your brain and the brain is you. You get to decide what you think about. You get to decide which thoughts are strengthened. So, instead of thinking I'm tired today, instead of thinking, oh, today's going to be a long day, start saying today's going to be a good day. Today is a beautiful day. Start saying today's going to be a good day. Today is a beautiful day. God has given me a good day to do good things and, seriously, if you repeat that, you'll actually start to believe it. Some things today are not good.

Speaker 3:

There are some things I can't lie about and pretend they're good, mainly the numbers on the number of illegals with criminal backgrounds that have been led into the United States. The Biden-Harris administration has allowed well over half a million illegal aliens, specifically with criminal histories, to enter the United States. That number is insane. Us Representative Tony Gonzalez published the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement data on social media platform X. According to the newly released information, 662,566 non-citizens on ISIS national docket have criminal histories. These numbers include more than 13,000 murder convicts, almost 16,000 sexual assault convicts and more than 13,000 weapon offense convicts. We've known for far too long that the biden harris border crisis poses a direct threat to americans. The truth is clear illegal immigrants with a criminal record are coming into your country. That's what gonzalez said in a press release.

Speaker 3:

The Texas congressman asserted that, beyond the disturbing new data, it should also serve as a wake-up call for the federal government and cities across the United States that keep sanctuary policies in place. Gonzalez first requested the data on March 13th, when he penned a letter requesting answers to several illegal immigration questions to President Joe Biden and US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Of the 7 million reported cases on ISIS docket, the letter requested information on how many non-citizens were charged with a crime by a municipality. Additionally, the letter asked how many were non-citizens convicted of a crime and released into US communities? Over six months later, gonzalez has finally received a response.

Speaker 3:

Quote it's time for Washington to move past rhetoric and toward results. Americans deserve to feel safe in their communities. As an appropriator, I will do everything in my power to ensure ICE has the resources necessary to deport non-citizens with a criminal record. This must be priority. The Biden administration also plays a part in cleaning up the mess their failed policies have created. They have the ear of sanctuary city mayors. It's time to encourage them to reverse course and put the safety of American citizens first.

Speaker 3:

This is a huge problem. Illegal immigration generally is a huge problem. We're all well aware of that. Especially if you live in South Texas, like we do, you're well aware of the situation when you drive through downtown and you see like 50 of them on a parking corner hoping to get picked up and get a job or not get picked up and get a job. When you see people standing under bridges that do not speak English. When you go to Goodwill and they're there shopping and they do not speak English and it's like look, I can't assume you're an illegal, I can't assume you're not a citizen, but the odds are not in your favor right now.

Speaker 3:

And the reality is that the Biden-Harris administration has directly done that. This is not like the good old days of politics where inadvertently this thing happened and you're like upset at that person. No, this is a direct result of actions. Those actions were letting in millions of unfettered illegal immigrants. You know they've been trying to tell us in life for years that these people are vetted, like CCFW has said, that the people here are actually vetted. And so no one's getting money that's illegal. No one's getting money that's a criminal. Those people aren't getting money. These people are seriously vetted and it's like no. The reality is they're not seriously vetted and it's like no, the reality is they're not.

Speaker 3:

The reality is that we have over half a million illegal people that have criminal backgrounds. I always have a hard time wording that correctly because, again, definitionally, if you're here illegally, you're a criminal. Now, you do have a criminal background. What I'm saying is these people, where they come from, had a criminal background, right Like that includes people, people from Trende Aragua. That includes people from MS-13, salvadorian gangs. That includes people who committed murders back home and fleed their government and they said oh, we're refugees, oh, we're under fear for our life, oh, we're running away from genocide. Don't want to face the death penalty in your home country because you murdered people, because you're a convicted rapist, because you're a cartel member who runs drugs and children and women. That's what you, that's your product.

Speaker 3:

And the Biden-Harris administration knows that. That's what's coming from Central America. They know that's what's coming from South America. They know what's coming across our border and they didn't secure it. In fact, they fought the people who wanted to secure it and then they turned around and they waited six months to give us data Now. To be completely honest with you, I'm shocked they didn't wait another two months and waited for the election to be over. I'm actually kind of genuinely surprised that they didn't do that. Maybe they thought that this wouldn't make much noise and people have already decided who they're voting for. But if there's any chance in your mind that you've not made it up, if you're a leftist that's listening to this show, if you're a leftist that's listening and you're completely planning on voting for Kamala Harris, that's already your plan. You're already convinced. Please hear me on this. There is still time to change your mind.

Speaker 3:

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have facilitated the greatest crime against America in the history of America since its inception history of America since its inception. We're going to face more havoc from this, to be completely honest with you, than we have from any other event in modern history. This is going to have a greater. The illegal crisis is going to have a greater impact, if we don't do something now on the future of America, than almost any other event in its founding.

Speaker 3:

Donald Trump plans on mass deportations. He says look, these people are criminals all of them, but a lot of them have specific criminal backgrounds. These people are coming across our border because it's wide open. We're going to be done with that. We're going to help Panama shut down their fifth straight and make sure that people aren't even seriously curb the people get able to get here in the first place. We're no longer going to let them fly in. We're not going to give them apps that are going to put them on a waiting list to just show up and walk across the border freely. We're not going to have an open border for them to walk across. We're going to build a wall. We are not going to let the ones that are already here stay here and give them citizenship. None of those things are happening. But if you vote for Kamala Harris, that's what will happen. That's exactly what's going to happen, guaranteed. That's what she wants to do. She's not even like shy about it. She's completely open and honest about the fact that that's exactly what they want to do. So I would highly encourage you, if you are in any regard, willing to change your mind, if you are in any regard, even considering the fact that maybe, just maybe, things are very bad and you don't want to see that happen again, please vote for Donald Trump.

Speaker 3:

Speaking of voting and all that good stuff, let's jump over to this story. A federal judge has blocked enforcement of a state law criminalizing paid vote harvesting, a business that often crosses into illegal influence and fraud. On saturday, judge xavier rodriguez issued an order that immediately and permanently enjoined attorney general ken paxton, secretary of state jane nelson and multiple county district attorneys from implementing, enforcing or giving any effect to the vote harvesting ban. Paxton responded yesterday that his office will immediately move to block the ruling. The law established established three third-degree felonies for participating in a paid vote harvesting scheme. Lawmakers passed the ban back in 2021 as part of a comprehensive election integrity measure known as Senate Bill 1.

Speaker 3:

Judge Rodriguez determined that this section of the law was overly vague and created an unconstitutional restriction on the free speech of advocacy groups that conduct in-person voter outreach and engagement activities. The law defines vote harvesting services as an in-person interaction with voters in the physical presence of an official ballot or a ballot voted by mail that is intended to deliver votes for a specific candidate or measure. Plaintiffs in the case refer to the law as a canvassing restriction. Of course they want to the same people that hate rights, the same people that are going to be using this as a loophole to go out and convince people to vote for Democrats. The same people that are voting for anti-Second Amendment candidates and anti-First Amendment candidates. The same people that have actively called for a stop to misinformation, in other words, telling you what you are and are not allowed to say. Those same people are, then, the ones that are the loudest to complain when they're like oh, I have the First Amendment. I have the First Amendment to go do illegal things and convince people to vote whatever. But the plaintiffs include the following nominally nonpartisan advocacy groups on the political left that pay people to provide voter assistance at the polls and canvas voters at their homes or during get-out-the-vote events. So here's some of those no-transcript. A social justice advocacy group for Asian Americans quote plaintiffs and their members cannot determine from the text of TEC 276.0 and five whether the canvassing restriction prohibits their organization's routine voter engagement activities.

Speaker 3:

During a week's long bench trial last September and October, plaintiffs argued that there was a widespread confusion about how to interpret the terms compensation or other benefit and physical presence of a mail ballot. Jonathan White, former chief of the AG's Election Integrity Division, testified during the trial that vote harvesting schemes are among the most common election-related complaints. I can't even say it. Such schemes have been the target of multiple prosecutions, according to the judge's ruling. Wright testified that groups paying organizations to offer mail ballot assistance during canvassing can be a subterfuge for voter fraud. You don't say. That's what conservatives have been saying now for years.

Speaker 3:

Despite the judge's order, it is still illegal to participate in a fraudulent vote harvesting scheme or to influence a voter in the presence of their ballot or during the voting process. It's also a crime to provide unlawful assistance by helping a voter who is not eligible for or does not request assistance, suggesting how a voter should vote or preparing a voter's ballot in a way other than the way the voter directs or without direction from the voter. Quote I will immediately block to move. I will immediately move to block this unacceptable ruling so texas can continue to defend its elections from bad actors seeking to undermine the ballot box. Paxton wrote in a statement that he issued yesterday. Quote a ruling weeks prior to an election preventing my office from investigating potential election violations is deeply troubling and risks undermining public trust in our political process. Last year, judge Rodriguez blocked another provision of SB1 ruling that Texas election officials cannot reject mail-in ballots with wrong or missing identification numbers A challenge to the entire portion of the law requiring a voter identification number on mail-in ballots is still under review by Rodriguez.

Speaker 3:

But let's be clear here this is intentional. There's a reason that it came up in the last month before the election. We're like literally one month and three days away, one month, four days away from the election, from election day, and they've now made it where not only can he not prosecute election fraud after the case, after the fact, but now he can't even prosecute obvious in your face problems like paying people to go convince voters. And it's one of those things where that may not always be bad and it may not always inherently lead to any kind of criminal punishment. But there needs to be the option for the attorney general's office to do something to be involved in ensuring that this does not continue, because the reality is that as long as we sit by idly and just allow them to cheat, they're going to cheat. That's exactly what they're going to do. There's no reason for them not to cheat. They're going to cheat. That's exactly what they're going to do. There's no reason for them not to cheat. And so this ruling is absolutely horrible and it's unsurprising that it's coming right now that it's preventing this, this kind of stuff now, a month before the election, that's not a that's not surprising to anyone and it's not a coincidental at all.

Speaker 3:

It was planned this way on purpose. It was intentional designed so that, specifically, they can cheat and I don't say that lightly, I say it honestly, speaking of well, I would say speaking of cheating. But it's not cheating because you won't need to cheat on these quizzes anymore, and by that I mean I've been in college and there have been some things where you're taking a quiz and you're asked well, do you want to say that evolution is real? Do you want to say you believe things that you don't believe? Those times are very difficult. Right things like the LGBT, minority studies, social justice certificate, especially when it's a whole degree plan offered at that school so that those classes become huge classes with entire majors dedicated to them. On the bright side, a&m has officially canceled a lot of that stuff. We're going to talk about exactly what they've canceled and how good news it is when we get back. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm Michael Wilson. See you soon.

PatriotTalk920.com to learn more. So a Texas A&M spokesman has confirmed that the university is going to deactivate 38 certificates and 14 minors, including the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer studies minor. That's not all, not all at all. The A&M spokesman also told the battalion that the official list of deactivated programs will not be public until it appears before the Faculty Senate on October 14th. So we're not going to know exactly what was deactivated yet. We've still got a couple of weeks for that.

Speaker 3:

But a university statement cited low enrollment as the reason for deactivating the programs. So it's one of those things where, like, well, not enough people are signing up, so we're just going to deactivate it. There's plenty of programs that not enough people sign up for that they don't deactivate. So I think that it's just a stupid excuse to not sound like they're bigots. They really don't want to be called bigots at Texas A&M at this point. They're so scared of that term that they're like ah, it's low attendance, that's why. No, it's because those studies, those classes and those certificates are stupid. That's why. Because they're still going to have a lot of the classes available. If it was about low enrollment, you would remove the classes. That's not the reason. It's because you're sick and tired of it and you need baby steps to get rid of it.

Speaker 3:

However, teresa Morris, the director of the Women's and Gender Studies program, said that the LGBTQ studies minor was among those ending. An official in the Department of Communication and Journalism also confirmed that certificates for both communication diversity and social justice and communication in global media are being deactivated. Additionally, the director of marketing communications in the College of Performance confirmed that the certificates for popular culture and performing social activism were also in the deactivation process. This comes just after State Representative Brian Harrison out of Midlothian reportedly called DEI courses on the LGBTQ studies minor an outrageous abuse of tax money and examples of taxpayer-funded indoctrination. So two sociology professors at A&M defended the program in a separate article, calling the classes a necessary addition to the educational opportunities offered to the students. Classes required for the LGBTQ minor that they're going to deactivate, by the way, include introduction to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer studies and queer theory. It was previously reported on other classes, including adolescent masculinity and the fag discourse, a theory of gendered organizations, women in hip-hop pushed back against the male gaze, and a certificate in social justice leadership offered by the bush school of government and public services center for non-profits and philanthropy quote. After months of calling for am to end this absurd program, I was pleased to learn from chancellor sharp they plan to end it. Proud to have helped deliver this victory for texas taxpayers, who should never be forced to fund liberal indoctrination. I look forward to further discussions with am and I will continue fighting to keep taxpayers from funding leftist propaganda that does nothing to strengthen our economy or the workforce of tomorrow. Students currently enrolled in programs being deactivated will be able to complete them. The deactivation process still requires a full review and approval from the Faculty Senate and TAMU President Mark A Welsh III. So it's not officially over yet, but it's certainly trending that direction, and for good reason.

Speaker 3:

These degrees, these minors, these certificates are absurdly stupid. They benefit this country 0%. It's not even like philosophy we're like. Well, they don't actually benefit an industry, sure, but philosophy is good for the sake of it, because learning new things and thinking about things is an inherent good right, like learning and thinking and crafting ideas and ideologies is a good thing a lot of the time. That's not the same as crafting thoughts about lesbianism, gayism and transgenderism. Those have negative consequences on the culture. Not only are they not beneficial at all, like they have zero benefit. There's actually a negative version, like it's actually a negative benefit. It's bad. It makes the country worse to have people with these minors, to have people that get these sorts of certificates and degrees. It's actually worse for the country. It actually makes us worse off afterwards. So it is inherently and incredibly good news that A&M has finally woken up to the just absurdity that is what they've been doing. That's going to have to continue to happen, by the way, if we want any real change. We're going to have to continue to pressure them to changing things, because A&M has done a lot of bad things over the past few years and has a lot of problems. But there is still an opportunity. We still do see good news coming out. We still do see evidence that there is a chance. We can still win this country and these schools back, even though oftentimes they seem very far gone.
