Early Voting, School Walkouts, And A Border Battle Shaping Texas Politics

Early voting opens, tempers flare, and we ask a simple question: do you want to win arguments online—or actual elections? We start with a candid look at GOP infighting, why it suppresses turnout, and how to pivot toward persuasion, research, and early votes that change outcomes. From there, we examine a tense moment in Texas education: anti-ICE student walkouts, Attorney General Ken Paxton’s investigations into district actions, and the thin legal line between supervision and facilitation during class hours.

Public safety takes center stage with the South American Theft Group tied to dozens of Houston-area burglaries. We unpack how rental cars, burner phones, and fake IDs power a professional operation, and why ICE detainers matter when local charges lag. That leads to a frank defense of the Second Amendment as both a constitutional backstop and a home-defense right rooted in individual responsibility.

Our guest, TX-38 congressional candidate Jeff Yuna, tackles pocketbook pain and policy head-on. He links inflation to federal debt and wage suppression, calls for curbing H-1B distortions, and argues for codified border limits with a cultural component to preserve national cohesion. On guns, he challenges the logic behind the NFA; on healthcare, he targets vertical integration between insurers and hospitals, stronger patient control over data, and real competition; on food security, he favors restoring state sovereignty so Texas ranchers can sell Texas beef to Texans without federal choke points. His first-day priorities: file a constitutional amendment to ban homestead property taxes and fight new federal debt and giveaways—using the bully pulpit to name the roadblocks.

We close with a surge that can’t be ignored: more than 100,000 applications for Texas Education Freedom Accounts in just two weeks, reaching year-one capacity before the deadline. Parents are voting with their feet and their forms, signaling demand for school choice, competition, and alignment between values and classrooms.

If this conversation helps you think clearer and act sooner, tap follow, share it with a friend who’s voting this week, and leave a quick review telling us your top issue this primary. Your vote—and your voice—matter more than any post.

Cold Morning, Civic Warm-Up

SPEAKER_13

From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot, and the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Texellent AC Service, and it is delightful to be here with you this morning. It is certainly a little bit cold out. I don't want to say a little i I'm not going to complain about the cool weather, but it is, it is a little chilly outside to start off the morning. Not as chilly as yesterday, uh, but right around upper 50s, 60 degrees. Uh this actually might be, I was staying this yesterday. It was President's Day, by the way, which I forgot to announce in the morning. I went into the show saying, Oh yeah, we'll talk about President's Day. And then I started talking about going and voting instead. And so I just completely forgot. But yesterday was President's Day. And so we had fa we had friends over, hung out with some family members, played some board games, ate some steak, right? It was a good time. And I remember opening the door to turn on the griddle to make some steaks. And I walked outside, and I I literally said, I said, we don't even have to shut the door. I said, we can just leave the door open. It's the time of year. I looked out, I was like, there's not any mosquitoes yet. There's no bugs really that are gonna come in the house. I said, and the weather is is almost exactly the same outside the house as inside the house. I was like, this is, and it was like five, five thirty. Absolutely gorgeous day yesterday. Um I in fact, the thing that makes me saddest is that that's not gonna be the weather the rest of the week. I and I'm not gonna complain about the fact that it's getting a little warmer than that. But yesterday, I'm telling you, was was absolutely beautiful. You you wanted to eat outside, you wanted to be outside, you wanted to leave the door open. I mean, it was a gorgeous day that God bless us with. And today is another very beautiful day. Um, I'm not gonna try to delineate and say it's less pretty. I think it probably will be, but the other thing that is happening today is that you have early

Early Voting And GOP Infighting

SPEAKER_00

voting. Um we all have early voting that started today. And with that means you need to go as soon as you can. Um I know, I know, I know. A lot of these races, I've been I've been looking through a lot of them, at least in in my district, where I specifically reside, and a lot of these races are pretty hotly contested. I mean, a lot of them, there's like drama and mudslinging and accusations that don't make sense on both sides. I I can't stand that. There's a lot of that going around, and I just don't I just don't get it. Um, I've been seeing news stories about certain candidates that are then proven false, and then people are arguing, and it's just such a mess. And all I can think to myself is why in the world do we seemingly reserve our most aggressive, strong-willed opinions for other Republicans? And not even the milk toast Republicans. A lot of these aggressive fights are between two relatively conservative people, more conservative than many of the people that are already serving. Right? Like the the biggest fights that I'm seeing, and I'm not talking about you know fights from from just the candidates even, but from the people supporting them. I see a bigger fight in a lot of these races that are between two people who I would describe both as conservatives, more aggressive than I see about people with John Cornyn or Dan Crenshaw or Dade Phelan. And I don't mean just by voting metrics, but the way that these people are talking and communicating with one another is so aggressive. They're so upset, they're so angry, and they'll latch on to any story, regardless of how unverified it is, regardless of the fact that they are literally just parroting false claims, it doesn't matter to them. And I I truly don't get it. I I I don't understand. Like if you were going after someone who's served for a while, who's been a moderate, who only seems to care about your district or care about the state when they when they are having to so that they can win. Well, that's that's the kind of person you can go after, or or you should go after, and you should be saying those things if you're gonna say anything at all. And instead, it seems like a lot of these are people going after other people who aren't perfect, but are are races where it's two conservatives, not just two Republicans. And I'm I'm just I'm just so shocked to see a lot of the response from a lot of Republicans, so-called Christians, and the way they're speaking online to other Christians because they're voting for a different conservative candidate who may disagree slightly on this one policy, or who who bought a ranch in New Mexico. Like, there's just so much stuff going around that is frankly unbelievable. And so I would encourage you to stay out of the mud. This is this is one of my least favorite parts about politics, is it's not predicated on truth. It's not predicated, like I I understand there are plenty of days where I've gotten aggressive. You know when I get aggressive, when someone diddles kids and it's it's been verified, or the the story about how they did it may not have been proven in court, but it's it's a pretty it's a pretty devastating scenario if if it all holds up. Right? I get upset when people like Lena Hidalgo, who is so far on the other political side of the aisle that it's not even funny, is just being is just completely lacking decorum, is just completely off the rails insane. That's when I get a little bit peeved and I'll get a little passionate and I'll get a little bit frustrated. But the way that these people are talking to other Christian conservatives because they support a different candidate is so wild to me. And I I truly don't understand it. I I truly don't get it. I know that we all have for most of us favored candidates. I know we all have people that we say, I wish this guy would win, or I hope this guy wins, but it it's two issues wrapped up in one. On the one hand, you're just not being a kind person. I I mean you're going after other people who are really on your side of the fight and just disagree with you on one candidate. And on top of that, I know that the Republican Party's one of their biggest issues has been that we're not very strategic. And I say we colloquially, because I know many of us are attempting to be as strategic as possible. Many of these people are completely lacking strategy in the sense that you're turning people off to your to what you're saying. This was a lot of the the issue with the Ron DeSantis supporters uh back in in 2024. Back in 20 bac b back when all this is going on for years, people were still going on and on about Ron DeSantis. And the way they were communicating about Ron DeSantis was crazy. I was like, Ron DeSantis is a good candidate, but you make the whole campaign seem like toxic fumes because of the way that you're speaking to people. No one wants to hear anything you have to say about him because people are blocking you because you're just rude. They don't want to hear your opinion at all. Right? The way that you converse, the way that you present your arguments is not successful in the slightest, even if you're right. And so I would encourage everybody to, if you're gonna talk about politics, that you that you think about it, that you dwell on the words that you're saying. Uh, and also, again, important reminder get out and vote. Starting today, early voting is open. I would highly encourage everyone, uh, if you've already done the research and you know which candidates you're gonna vote for, go ahead and go vote. If you've not done that yet, take some time today or tomorrow, as soon as you can, get that research done, find out which candidates are good, not just on one issue, but a variety of issues, and then go vote. Make those decisions and get out there. Make sure that that is where you spend your time. This is a very important primary season. There are a lot of candidates who are incumbents, who have lots of funding, uh, who we know largely do not support the conservative Christian agenda, and who consistently have shown that they don't support the conservative Christian agenda. And so I would highly encourage everyone to do that research. Uh the primary, again, is as I have highlighted, is an opportunity to create actual change uh in a lot of places where it matters. There's a lot of these races where it's it's the odds are in the Republicans'

Civility, Strategy, And Persuasion

SPEAKER_00

favor come the general, and that's never guaranteed. But at least in some of these races, uh it's it's it's not looking like it's shaping up to be a close general that will probably win the general no matter who we put in, just because of overwhelming Republican support. And so the primary is our opportunity to have a say in what kind of person is going to represent that position. And we get to choose. Come to the general, if we win, then the nominee we chose is the one who's going to serve. So this is our only opportunity to select a good person and a good candidate for those positions. And I think we can all agree that Texas has not been run like we'd like to see it run. And I think we can probably all agree on that. I most people that I've talked to, regardless that they can pinpoint the specific position that's the reason for that, regardless of if they can pinpoint the exact person that they blame for it or group of people they blame for it, most people I talk to are not overly pleased with the way that Texas is being run on a variety of issues. And so this is the opportunity to make your voice heard. Uh, also be aware you've got 10 propositions that are on the ballot. Uh they don't have any sway over this election. They don't mean anything in terms of constitutional amendments. They're merely uh gauge for the Republican Party to understand where people sit on a bunch of issues, um, which of course is going to be skewed by the fact that we, for whatever reason, still do not have closed primaries, so you're gonna have Democrats voting on those propositions, certainly. But make your voice heard on all those issues and on the candidate that you want to see put in. Even if the candidate that you select doesn't end up winning, every vote for that candidate is another vote, another person, another real human being, an indictment on whoever does win saying you didn't get the support you used to get. And every year you're getting less and less support. You need to be aware. I mean, at bare minimum, it can do good things for the person who wins. Because maybe if they win and they see as a sort of populist who who wants to do what the people want so that they can keep getting elected, they see people are stopping to the people more people are voting for other candidates who are more conservative than them. So they need to pivot to be more conservative if they want a real opportunity to change the dynamic, to change the state. And so we need to make our voices heard in the primary. We need to start voting for candidates who represent our values, not just the most popular person with the most name recognition, but good candidates. With that being said, let's let's go ahead and jump on over to the weather this morning. I think it's I think it's crucial to talk a little about what we see not going on just today, but but through the rest of the week. And so uh to kick it off, like I said, we're starting off in the upper 50s, low 60s, uh, and we're eyeing some spring-like temperatures and a spike in those temperatures. And so we don't have any freezing temperatures in sight, and February heat dome is in place. Houston is gonna spend several days in the 80s this week, following yesterday's day before yesterday's cold front and the storms that preceded it, Saturday night, temperatures are still in rebound mode. Houston is not gonna hit 80 degrees likely today, uh, but temperatures will approach the 80 degree mark, peaking at around 77 to 78 degrees around the Houston area. As southwesterly winds are going to persist tomorrow, Houston Avery temperatures should land in the lower 80s tomorrow. And our, again, our average high for this time of year is 67, 68 degrees. Uh, Thursday is shaping up to be even warmer with daytime temperatures reaching the mid to upper eighties. And some places west of the Brazos River could even make a solid run at 90 degrees for the first time in 2026. Morning temperatures are also going to rise throughout this week, uh inching from the mid-50s into the lower 60s by tomorrow morning. Temperatures could reach the upper 60s by Friday morning ahead of a weak cold front. Now, in Southeast Texas, a hard freeze, as we're all aware, occurs when temperatures drop below 24 degrees for at least a couple hours. Uh below that temperature, you know, plants,

Make A Plan And Go Vote

SPEAKER_00

pipes, uh, those sorts of things are at greater risk for some sort of devastation. Since 1889, when they first started record-keeping temperatures, the average last hard freeze occurs on January 23rd. Um, if you look at just the past decade, that that goes back to January 17th. Now, the chance of you since seeing another hard freeze this season is slim, especially given the outlook for, again, above normal temperatures through the end of this month. Now, a light freeze occurs, temperatures drop between 32 and 24 degrees, and our average freeze that that's a light freeze occurs on February 15th. Um and so again, given that only three of the past 10 years have brought a light freeze during the final days of February or March, the odds uh favor us being done with freezing temperatures. It appears like from all the outlooks that we're probably not gonna have any more freezes going into February or March. That we might be done with that. Uh, I'm not saying we're not gonna get any days in the 50s and the 40s. Those are certainly still on the table as being options, but it it appears like for the most part we are done with the freezing temperatures. As I look out at the actual monthly forecast right now from Acuweather, again, I'm seeing days, a lot of days in the 80s this week, uh, and then back into the 60s and 70s, and even back into the 80s by next week. And then as you again, as you eye out into March, just to get a general idea of the directional weather's going, it's it's many more days in the 60s and the 70s and some days in the 80s. So that's that's basically where our temperature is going to reside now. Anyway, from the upper 60s to the mid 80s is our set temperature through this month and most of next month. Though again, that could largely shift at any point from now until the end of March. I mean, these these are week out predictions. We all know there's not a lot of accuracy. They're they're just a guess. And so we are seeing a lot of those shifts. With that being said, we do have, like I was mentioning, a lot of stories coming up in the next segment. We I I think we're gonna go over this investigation into schools and the districts over these anti-ICE walkouts. On our on our social media, we actually uploaded a video uh from our president, Matt Velazquez, who was out with his family and came across an anti-ICE protest. And some of the words that were being said at this anti-ICE protest, if if you were not aware of the rhetoric that's going around, you probably wouldn't even believe it. It doesn't even feel like America in the things that some of these students are saying and the way they're being educated. And so Ken Baxton is now investigating three more school districts over those walkouts and potential support from from the districts over those walkouts. We'll talk all about those investigations when we get back from the break. As always, if you would like to be a part of the show, make your voice heard in the show format. This announcement came out just yesterday that his office is now seeking records from Northeast Independent School District in San Antonio, Dallas Independent School District, and Manor Independent School District after concerns that school officials may have facilitated student walkouts tied to anti-ICE demonstrations. The inquiries follow a similar investigation already underway into Austin Independent School District after students left campus to protest at the Texas Capitol. He said in a statement, quote, I will not allow Texas schools to become breeding grounds for the radical left's open borders agenda. Let this serve as a warning to any public school officials or employees who unlawfully facilitate student participation in protests targeting our heroic law enforcement officers. My office will use every legal tool available to hold you accountable. Now, according to Paxton's office, their quests seek information on district policies governing students leaving campus, attendance and excused absences, security procedures, and internal communications regarding the protests. Investigators are also examining whether any public funds or

Paxton Probes Anti-ICE Walkouts

SPEAKER_00

Used and whether district officials violated state law. And of course, you have Abbott, who recently directed the TEA, the Texas Education Agency, to investigate Austin ISD after students were escorted by school personnel during a walkout protest. District officials in Austin said the event was not school sponsored and that staff accompanied students to ensure their safety after they chose to leave campus. But that's a very, very fine line to walk. Well, we didn't facilitate it. I mean, I know that our administrators left with the students, but it was it was merely for safety, right? We didn't we weren't helping. We didn't make it seem in any regard like we were content or that we accepted the walkout. We did not make it seem like we supported them. I know we went with them, but that was just a safety precaution. And again, that is a very fine legal line to be walking. For you to send school administration out with the students during a walkout protest, certainly, certainly at least gives the perception, right, that to a degree you're supportive of the endeavor. And so, of course, a manor ISD spokesman responded and said that it is confident the review will show that staff follow district procedures and Texas education agency guidance, adding that attendance rules were enforced and student safety remained the district's top priority during the walkout. North ISD, Northeast ISD confirmed that the investigation centers on Churchill High School, so the district is cooperating with the Attorney General's office. District officials said staff have been instructed to remain professionally neutral regarding student walkouts and were told not to encourage or discourage participation. Well, you you certainly should be discouraging participation. You should make it clear that if you're not doing if you're doing this during classroom hours, it it should we're not discouraging. You should discourage participation. I mean, this is all the school hours, kids aren't your business. The moment they leave school, they're back. They're now they're they're compl I mean they're under the parents' authority anyway, but they're specifically under now the care and supervision of their parents. But if you're allowing this to go on and you're not discouraging it from occurring during campus hours, during school hours, I I don't know what legal argument you can even make that you're following the guidance from the state of Texas as to how you're supposed to operate. You're certainly supposed to discourage students from leaving class in the middle of the day to walk out of school to go protest. Nevertheless, Northeast ISD added that students who left class would be marked truant and could face disciplinary consequences if disruptions or safety concerns arose. The district said it had issued guidance staff before the TEA released its own instructions and maintained that its approach prioritized student safety and maintaining the learning environment. Meanwhile, Dallas ISD has not responded to any requests for comment, given that it's ongoing investigation. But again, a lot of this stuff they're they're trying to walk this very fine line on the delineation between some sort of encouragement, some sort of perceived support, and allowing students to do whatever they want. Well, we just care about their safety. That's why we're not actually punishing them. Let's say we that we would. We would punish them if they create these other problems, but they're not creating this problem. So we're not going to punish them. Uh and we're going to actually send administrators from the school out with them, which certainly makes it look like a school-sponsored event. Uh, but we really just we just care so much about the safety of the students that we're going out with them as they as they choose to leave. But as I was as as I was kind of also talking about, it's also happening here in Houston, obviously, and on our social media, if you've not gone to the Patriot Talk 920 AM Instagram or Facebook page, you should check it out because we put up a video just yesterday. We have uh a high school ICE protest right here in Herman Park. And I'm gonna I'm gonna quote one of the students who is speaking at the event because we all know the overall goal of in border policy. We all understand what that goal is, right? It is to replace the culture, it is it is to replace the demographics. It's called the Great Replacement Theory, though it shouldn't even be called a theory anymore. I mean, it goes from being a theory to a scientific fact when it's so observable and recreatable that it's it's obviously true, like gravity, right? And what's happening in these walkouts is not merely some sort of defense of immigrants, it's not merely some sort of genuine policy discussion as to how we deal with immigration and deportations and who gets to leave, who gets to stay. That's not how these protests are going. These protests are not merely pro-immigration protests. They are adamantly anti-American, anti-federal law enforcement protests. And this is highlighted, I think, no better than just reading you a quote from one of the students at this protest here in Houston said yesterday, listen to this. This student said, quote, if anyone should be kicked out, it's the white people. That is not a made-up quote. That that is not me being hyperbolic as to what these people believe. That is a genuine statement from one of the students that walked out from their high school campus yesterday during an anti-ICE protest. If anyone should be kicked out, it's the white people. That is the overwhelming position of the radical left at any age group right now. Right? That's the same Billy Eilers claim there are no illegals on stolen land. This land does not belong to white people. This land does not belong to Americans, people uh with with some sort of rooted heritage in the country whose families built this country. No, no, no, no, no. This country is for anyone and everyone, has no culture, has no nationality, none of those things. Right? If I was if I was allowing mass Muslim immigration into any other country other than European nations and and their their spin-offs like America, if I was to go to any other country and make this same argument, I would look like a lunatic. And that's why I think these people look like lunatics, but they don't see it. If I were to go into Japan, try to force them to take in millions of Muslims and people from other countries, and then I said, look, if anyone should be kicked out of Japan, it's the Japanese people. Right? You'd think that's an insane sentence. That Japan is for the Japanese people. And if you want to allow some immigration, that's fine. But Japan is made up of Japanese people. That that's the cultural and rooted historical heritage of the nation. Yeah, that's the same thing for America, by the way. I know that we've been deceived by leftist radical ideology for so long that we say, well, America's different, right? Because America is really a multicultural economic zone, right? Really, it's just a geographical location that people have saddled and it's for it's for anyone and everyone, and there's no distinct, you know, fair representation of what is really an American. Is an American somebody that just likes the Constitution and then moves here? No. Is American someone who's just a Christian that wants to have the U.S. Constitution? No. Uh America actually means something. Being an American actually has meaning behind it. And that there is no argument made that the people that you're bringing in are as just as American as people whose families came in uh during the Revolutionary War or really even up to the Civil War. I mean, if your families have been here for generations, right? We have we have plenty of people who say, hey, I'm a sixth generation Texan, there's no argument that you are more Texan than the person who came over illegally from Honduras five years ago. Those are not even comparable scenarios. And I know that that ruffles feathers and it'll get me called every name in the book, and that's that's uh quote unquote radical position to think. No, that's just the historical position of what this nation, of what any nation is, not just America. Again, it's not just about us. This is any nation in the history of the world, right? You know who Rome was primarily for? Yeah, it was for the Romans. And do you know where the number one cause of the downfall of the Roman Empire was? Yeah, it was mass immigration and and and this sort of imperialist issue where they brought people in who were not Roman, who basically destroyed them from the inside out. Which, by the way, is exactly what's happening to the American Empire. It's the exact same one-for-one scenario where we don't care that America is for Americans. Right? No, no, no. We don't wanna we don't want to go there. We don't want to say that because that that might be a little racist. That might be a little rude. Yeah, nobody cares. I know the left does, but nobody should care. Because if

SATG Burglary Ring And Self-Defense

SPEAKER_00

there is such a thing as a country, if we don't want a one-world global government where every country is ultimately the same, if we if we like American culture, if you like uh English culture or or Scottish culture or Irish culture or Japanese culture or or any nation in the history of the world, if you like those nations, the thing that makes them different are the people and their histories, their shared histories together and the culture that that forms. And so if you if you try to defend a lot of these arguments, that's where you go. It's the white people. Why? Like why not only why why would you why would you say that, but what makes that true? Why why should white people be kicked out? Because they don't understand history, they don't understand heritage, they don't understand uh they don't have an understanding of what a country is, what a nationality is, what a people group is, they have no concept of any of those things. They certainly could not defend them in any sort of real conversation or real life scenario. They've just been indoctrinated to believe that for whatever reason white people are inherently evil, the most evil people who have ever walked the earth. They they have been convinced through years of indoctrination in the public school system, in social media, and on the internet, through the media in general, that white people are the problem, that they're not successful, they're not they're not intelligent, right? They're not good at things, that they they don't deserve anything except to be kicked out of their own country, and it's insane. It it is it is literally insane and and it's not rooted in any form of truth. It's it's rooted in evil, it's rooted in deceit, it's rooted fundamentally in a complete misapplication of any governing principle of any country in the history of the world. And any country who's doing or who has done what we're doing now, or who takes that position that the the people of a nation did do not deserve their nation and that they should be kicked out and replaced, that's how you get a different nation. That's how you destroy empires. That's called a foreign invasion. That's exactly what's happening. And and that's why when school districts are not taking a stand against this sort of stuff and saying, hey, actually, you're not allowed to leave. And if you do, you're gonna face severe repercussions because this isn't merely you just missing a day of class. You're actively choosing to leave and walk out in some sort of protest. Yeah, you're gonna face severe repercussions for that. And if you don't do that, you're you're allowing it to be run by the students, and that these are the students who hate you because that's that's what they've been indoctrinated to believe. And so I would encourage everyone to take a long hard look at that and to understand this is not merely a minor disagreement over foreign policy or over immigration policy. This is fundamentally a conversation about what America is and who America is for. What does it mean to be an American? And we're gonna all have to think very clearly and very carefully about our answers because it cannot be that white people are the ones who should be kicked out, because that that is such an insane position. Nevertheless, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and we're gonna talk a little bit about this law enforcement link, which has linked this South American theft group to over 60 home burglaries in the Houston region. An insane, an insane thing to come out, by the way. We'll talk about it when we get back. As always, text in at 713-779-5978. That's 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.

SPEAKER_24

If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

SPEAKER_02

Medicare choices are easier with a professional in your corner. Senior Health Services is not associated with the government, so you know you can trust them. Visit Senior Health Services.com today to connect with a trusted agent for a free consultation.

SPEAKER_00

To kick this off, a transnational criminal organization linked to numerous high-profile burglaries targeting actors and athletes across the U.S. is now under investigation for similar crimes in the Houston area according to a search warrant. The group, known as the South American Theft Group, the SATG, I mean, imagine the just brazen desire to call yourself a theft group. I mean, this is crazy. SATG has been connected to more than 60 residential burglaries in the Greater Houston region, according to records. The latest development comes with the arrest of a Chilean national allegedly involved in a West University placehold burglary in late January that knitted over $500,000 in jewelry and watches. Now, West University Place Police say that suspects use tactics consistent with SATG operations, including moving a table against the home's exterior to access a second floor balcony. The burglars then broke in and stole high-end jewelry and watches value between $500,000 and $650,000, according to records. And so you have, of course, this speaker on it said these groups gravitate towards expensive homes with surroundings like golf courses, parks, or walking trails, features that can make it easier for would be thieves to sneak in. They used a combination of internet research, surveillance, and commercially available camera and tracking technologies to scope out their targets. And so Houston police arrested Christian

SPEAKER_00

Mauricio Rubio Pizarro, a Chilean national, in connection with the investigation in the West University Place Burglary. According to Core Documents, this guy allegedly used a fraudulent Argentine identification document to rent a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV through Turo, which he then used in the burglary scheme. Police figured out his real name using facial recognition technology and began surveilling him. Once pulled over for a traffic violation, he allegedly gave police the wrong name and birth date before investigators found a fake Colombian driver's license. Police tied GPS records from the vehicle to the area of the burglary and later found that it abandoned with modified license plates and electrical tape covering interior lights to conceal nighttime movement. He currently faces charges related to tampering with government records and is being held with a $20,000 bond. But, but I know that sounds low. I know that that's going to immediately set up some alarm bells. Why are they going to let this guy out? They're not. That's the criminal bond. He's also being held on an immigration detainer, meaning even if he pays that bond, it would be relatively pointless because he'll still be in immigration custody and they're not going to let him go until the trial's concluded. He's not getting out. And so, by the way, uh, if you look all around the nation, the FBI has identified the South American theft group as a significant criminal threat, noting that members either enter the U.S. illegally or overstay their visas, which means they either enter illegally or stay illegally. The groups are also known for breaking in through back entrances, using rental cars and fake identification documents, employing multiple burner phones for communication, targeting high value homes during specific hours, and then sending stolen goods back to South American countries, particularly Chile and Colombia. And this is during a surge, by the way, in these burglaries. Last year, a federal grand jury indicted three alleged SATG members for the burglary of a Cincinnati NFL player's home. Back

Economy, Debt, And Wages

SPEAKER_00

the year before, in 2024, six Chilean nationals were federally charged for home burglaries in multiple states. The local investigation, of course, remains active as authorities continue to analyze cell phone data and other evidence rec recovered from the guy that's now been arrested. And while he's in custody, they have not actually filed any burglary-related charges yet. And investigators have not identified any additional suspects who may be working in operations with this particular individual. But two things you need to be aware of. One, all those high school anti-ICE protests want this guy to stay. These are the kind of people that they want to stick around. Because who got this guy? Why is the reason that he's not going to be let out of jail? Oh, you mean because of ICE? You mean because of the work that ICE does? Uh they had an immigration in meaning a warrant. I mean, if they had pulled the guy over and they hadn't linked him to this stuff because he's not been actually taken in on burglar-related charges, had it not been for the administrative warrant out for his arrest due to ICE, this guy would still be out and about, more than likely. Is that what the high school students want? You want guys like this to have free reign in the country to rob your homes? And not only that, but that's not even taking into consideration that uh for whatever reason this isn't often talked about. When you talk about burglaries, these are not some safe theft option, like fraud, uh, where you get someone to sign over something and then you steal their identity and steal thousands of dollars, right? That's evil, but it's a different kind of evil than physically breaking into someone's home because of course that can result in a confrontation and danger for everyone involved. And that's that's obviously an outcome that is certainly conceivable here in Texas. And so that is yet another reminder when you have theft groups like this that are known for breaking into homes, yet another reminder of why it's so crucial that you join our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. Gun owners of America understands that the Second Amendment is sort of wide-reaching in terms of intent, right? Is it designed as an accountability measure for the federal government? The answer is yes. Is it also designed for your ability to hunt? Certainly. Is it also designed for your ability to protect your home from anyone who would come in? Anyone who would rob you, anyone who would threaten the lives of your family and cause a lack of safety in that home? Absolutely. And so when we talk about your rights, your God-given rights to keep and bear arms, you need to understand that stuff like this happens. These are 60 plus burglaries in the Houston region. That's not a safe number, right? That's not like a one off. That is a consistent problem. And you have the God given, constitutionally enshrined right to defend yourself from these sorts of people, to defend your home and your property from these sorts of people. And so if you want to keep those rights, right, because this is a daily, weekly, monthly fight, it is crucial that you become a member of Gun Owners of America. Between the campaigning and the lobbying and the lawsuits, GOA is at the very front line of this fight to ensure that our rights are not stripped away and they are not infringed upon. You can go to GOAHouston.com become a member. That is G-O-Ahouston.com. It is a $25 annual membership, $25 per year. It goes back to the defense of your Second Amendment rights. Again, that is GOAHouston.com. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're going to go over. Speaking of illegal aliens, I want to highlight that they here in Texas are continuing, of course, to commit child sex crimes. The latest list of Texas's 10 most wanted criminal illegal aliens includes on that 10 most wanted list eight who are wanted for sex crimes against children. We'll talk more about the details of that list, what that means for our future when we get back from the break. Text in at 713-779-5978. Again, that is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. And Lord willing, I will return to wrap up the first hour of the show after the break.

Hi, this is Harold Gunn, inviting you to join Bill Olson and me for Texas's longest-running and most awarded outdoor show. Brought to you by Bill Ford Tough Trucks.

SPEAKER_00

So many different things, foreign policy, national security, all of these sorts of things that I think are on everyone's mind right now that we'll go over with Jeff in the next segment that you, again, will certainly not want to miss. In the meantime, I want to highlight that Texans are continuing to see a city stream of illegal aliens charged with the most heinous crimes imaginable to men. Illegal alien crimes documented the arrest of thousands of suspects who have immigration detainers or hold issued by ICE, including dozens of Tex detainees charged with sex crimes against minors. Detainers are used, of course, by ICE to apprehend those who are dangerous, deportable non citizens who have been arrested by another law enforcement agency. And so in June of 2024, illegal alien crimes found that in Dallas County alone, 14 suspected illegal aliens were arrested for sexually exploiting children in just one month. That trend continued into the fall 2024 when they identified more than thirty suspects of immigration hold who were arrested in Texas over a three-month

Second Amendment And NFA Views

SPEAKER_00

period and charged again with sex crimes involving children. Now, while the number of illegal aliens entering the U.S., and Texas obviously has slowed down under the Trump administration, reports of illegal aliens charged with sexually assaulting children have not really slowed down. Texas Coalition for Kids keeps running a list called Groomers Without Borders that documents illegal aliens charged in tax with sex crimes against children. So far in 2026, more than 20 have been arrested so far this year. Again, reminder, we're a month and a half into the year, and we've already had 20 people arrested in Texas, illegal aliens for sexual crimes against children. You have a Mexican international who's been convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child, sexual assault of a child in San Angelo, previously deported, child sex predator from Honduras in Maverick County, Guadalupe County, 13 counts of indecency with a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, sexual assault, continuous sexual abuse under 14, under 14. I mean, the list goes on and on and on and on. And the latest list of Texas's 10 most wanted criminal illegal aliens includes, again, eight who have been charged with sex crimes against children. So to all those high school students out there, these are the people that you want to stay in the country. These are the people that you think should get to stay here. Insane. With that being said, like I was mentioning, we will have Jeff Yuna for Congressional District 38 coming on in the next segment. You will not want to miss that interview, so stick around. Text in at 713-779-5978. I'm your host, Michael Wills, and I'll be right back at the top of the hour.

SPEAKER_13

From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot and the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.

SPEAKER_19

I'm offended. Let's all be offended.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Textellent AC Service. As I was teaching before the break, very exciting guest we have coming on. Joining us now is Jeff Yuna, a candidate for Congress here in Texas, Congressional District 38. He is sixth generation Texan, Christian entrepreneur, licensed minister, and father of for his campaign, of course, as we all desire, a sentence on America, first agenda, small government, border security, fiscal responsibility, and all the other things that we will get into here in this segment. Welcome to the show, Jeff.

SPEAKER_10

Well, thank you for having me, Michael. I really appreciate the opportunity.

SPEAKER_00

And I really appreciate you coming on and coming on to the program and what we're going to go into. Now I want to kick it off as I do with any candidate and kind of ask why. And what I mean by that is obviously you've had a successful, you know, uh attempt at building businesses through this sort of private sector entrepreneurship. What's driven you to go from that side over to saying, hey, now I need to run for Congress. I have to be involved in in this in this politic, this group politic. I have to make a difference here. What was what was that like, that transition like for you and what caused it?

SPEAKER_10

Well, so I it it's a long story, but uh to start with, uh I was lobbying for property tax reform in in Austin. Uh Dan Patrick's a customer, I talked to his people, was was making no headway at all, just really looking for a voice and and realized that a lot of us don't have a voice. And I'm just really tired of politicians saying one thing and doing just the opposite. This opportunity presented itself, and uh at the encouragement of some friends and with some prayer and some consultation with my wife, uh, we jumped into the race trying to make a difference and and go up there and actually do what we say we're gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

No, absolutely, I agree with you wholeheartedly. And in fact, I'm very encouraged

Healthcare, Data, And Monopolies

SPEAKER_00

by the prayer part. I think a lot of people skip that really important step. I was in the show yesterday, since of course early voting started today. I said if you're skipping the prayerful consideration side of who you're voting for, uh, that is possibly the most important step in making these sorts of decisions that you have wisdom that can only come from God. Now, I I want to jump over with that being said and start talking about some of those sorts of issues, right? Because obviously you've been driven into this saying, hey, regular Texans need a voice who's gonna be there and actually do what they say they're gonna do, and it's not gonna be a game to them, which is something that I actually like about people coming from the private sector, because a lot of career politicians, of course, treat it like a never-ending game of how can I get to the next position or how can I stay in this position, as opposed to or how do I help Texans, right? And so I want to talk a little bit about some of your big things. I want to kick it off actually talking about the economy. I think this is actually one of the biggest issues for not only the middle class, but for people in general today. Uh, obviously we have tens of trillions of dollars in national debt, which of course drives inflation. And we need to bring that down. I've heard people saying we need to raise a bunch of taxes. What's your position on the debt crisis, how that contributes to inflation, and what we need to do about it? I know that's such a big question. You could spend 30 minutes answering just that. But but what's what's your take on that?

SPEAKER_10

So, I mean, the middle class is being destroyed. Inflation is largely contributed to the national debt. I own a pawn shop. You know, we we we make loans. Uh 59% of those loans are made to households over $100,000 a year, 19% to households over $160,000. Under Biden, we saw credit card debt go from $800 billion to $1.4 trillion. The middle class has been squeezed, crushed, and destroyed. Uh right now, pawn balance went up because people are paying property taxes. We've we've got to get the we've got to get the dollar value back. We've got to get the deficit down from $38 trillion. That's absurd. But we've also got to bring wages up. And Trump has a pretty good pro-growth policy going, bringing jobs back. Uh probably need to eliminate some of the H1B visas and open up some of those technology jobs for our young Americans. Um and even open up university seats and get rid of some of the 300,000 F1 Chinese uh student visas they have every year. So it's the government's gotta have some fiscal responsibility, and at the same time, we need to create great jobs. As a business owner, my revenues go up and down. Uh politicians, they never see taxes go down, they just keep spending and spending, and that's gotta stop.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, absolutely. And I I like the way you presented this because I I don't think it's one single issue. I think each issue contributes significantly, but I don't think it's just one. I I mean you look out and you mentioned H1B visa programs, all the studies that have been done on areas and and on on factor and in factions that use H1B visa uh workers, all of them without fail show a minimum of 10 to 20 percent wage suppression. Most show 30 to 50 percent wage suppression in those industries. And so we know that's driving down wages, and and on top of that, it's also taking away specific jobs that could be going to Americans. And so obviously these coupled uh with $38 trillion in debt, uh already over taxation that needs to be lessened. You combine all those things together and and you get this is why I know there's uh and I get it, this consistent complaint from young people, how will I ever buy a home? I I I can't imagine even being able to save for that. And so I kind of want to transition then, because you mentioned immigration into into border immigration. I think you've been pretty clear of your support for strong border enforcement, that those here who are here illegally should return to their actual home, their country, and pursue lawful pathways. So obviously one of the big concerns, I think, and it's a reasonable concern from conservatives, has been uh as much as we like how the border's been tackled recently through a lot of executive orders, what happens in four years or three years, if God forbid we get a bad candidate in who's not pro-border strength? Uh, and how do we make sure that we're codifying things into law and and changing the dynamic to be a a pro-border country? What does that look like for you?

SPEAKER_10

Well, what what it looks like is like you said, codifying it into law. The House has done a pretty good job. They've codified 81 of Trump's executive orders, but we've got to get the we've got to get the immigration codified as well. Uh, I don't want to say that the word immigration reform because that brings up uh

Food Security And State Sovereignty

SPEAKER_10

a lot of negativity. But no, we we've got to we've got to get that doge to immigration and defined bylaw the absolute number of percentages of aliens that can come here legally and stick to that. There's a lot of there's billions of dollars these illegal aliens are sending back over even H1B H1B visa holders. You know, we we need to put laws into the fact that uh maybe tax that money that's that's leaving our economy permanently and going into other ones. There's there's a multitude of things that can be done. Um certainly, certainly need to you know finish the wall and uh make sure somehow I don't have specifics uh that we control the number of people that are allowed to immigrate to this country on an annual basis.

SPEAKER_00

No, absolutely I agree, I agree with you wholeheartedly. There needs to be a firm set rule because it's just been thrown by the wayside, and of course, we've had mass immigration problems, uh, especially recently under the Biden administration, but it's been going on really right under our nose for for generations. And so that's a big concern for a lot of people. Let me go ahead.

SPEAKER_10

Michael, let me add to that. We also need to, in in that immigration policy, it needs to have a cultural aspect. We need to quit allowing people that are are contrary to our culture uh to to immigrate to this country, whether it's a Muslim country, uh enemy country. This idea of asylum is is a little bit on the ridiculous side when they've got other countries between us and them. So that definitely needs to have some uh legislation passed to put some teeth into that so that if the Democrats get back in control, they just start dumping Muslims in on us again.

SPEAKER_00

No, and I I see that when I hear politicians complaining about radical Islam in the U.S., they say, how do you think it got here? This is not some random ideology that is spread among Americans. This was purposefully brought here, uh, and it doesn't make any sense, right? Any other country that do you think that Islamic countries are going to mass immigrate Christians into their countries and allow them to live unfettered lives? Believe it, no, of course not. We all know that that's crazy because those countries understand we have a level of cultural cohesion where we largely agree ideologically, and that's a good thing. It creates a strong government. And here in America, we've kind of again thrown that away in lieu of bringing in people that not only don't agree with us, but in many cases, it's directly contrary to the ideologies that define Americanism. So I also want to jump over, speaking of a lot of that, uh, and I want to talk a little bit about law and order, uh, making sure that that's one of our big policies. Now, obviously, you're a licensed firearms dealer, strong supporter of law enforcement. Uh, we know at the federal level right now we have things like the NFA, right? The National Firearms Act, that's in an ongoing lawsuit because, of course, when you look at the NFA, uh, it's a sort of quote-unquote loophole to the Second Amendment in an attempt to form what I I would argue at least, is a sort of unconstitutional gun registry. What's your take on the Second Amendment

Yuna’s First Priorities In Congress

SPEAKER_00

and making sure that that the government is not overstepping those boundaries?

SPEAKER_10

Well, I'm I'm I'm diehard Second Amendment. I don't think that they should be able to regulate other than uh I I am I am pro FFL and and federal firearms dealers, of course, because I am one that creates an entry barrier, so I'm a little bit selfish there. Um I I I think the NFA's been unconstitutional all along. The Supreme Court upheld it because it was a tax. Now that there is no tax, uh the NFA could probably completely fall entirely. But uh Brown uh the Howard Amendment in NFA was signed by Reagan. Uh definitely, I believe, is unconstitutional. That'll get tested, and we may see modern uh automatic weapons manufactured again, but we have one in 435. I don't think I can give the NFA repeal, but I certainly will uh do my part to um do that. And you know, my big support for the Second Amendment reforms is I believe in individual responsibility. I mean the country's lost it. We're we've got entitlement, we want the government to do everything. We've got to get back to the republic where the the individual is the power and the power flows up from the people, and protecting yourself and being responsible um is is a big big thing of mine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, absolutely, because I I think you know it's so crazy because I I I think that the one of the biggest issues right now, in politics in general, is just a fundamental a fundamental misunderstanding of of American history. When people I I've talked to so many people who talk about the Second Amendment, and they come on my show, or I'll talk to them in person, and they'll say things like, Well, you have to understand the Second Amendment was written for people who could hunt. I mean, that was the whole point. And I say, You think that the men who came off a revolutionary war who were concerned about federal tyranny and then wrote one thing into the Constitution to prevent federal tyranny, to make sure there was accountability from the people, was designed for people only to hunt? It just doesn't make any sense.

SPEAKER_10

Absolutely. It was written for the militia and the individual and for the individual's implied self-defense.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Well, with that being said, I also want to jump over, talk a little bit about healthcare. This is another place where I think people are being squeezed out. I've been seeing lots of talks recently on health insurance and all these sorts of things. Uh you you've talked about, you know, patient-doctor relationships, how how parents should have, of course, absolute authority over medical decisions for their children. And so I think there is an important conversation to be had on what healthcare needs to look like. There's been lots of stuff going on with the Texas Medical Board, but I want to get your position on how the healthcare industry needs to change. I think this also, of course, ties into things like Obamacare and all these sorts of things. Um, what what does that look like in terms of positioning on the direction that we need to go as a country in that regard?

SPEAKER_10

So I think the government has created some monopolies within the health care industry, particularly uh, you know, for health insurance. We've we've got a limited number of providers now when before Obamacare we had a lot. One of the things that I'd like to do proactively as legislation is create a law that says any any company, okay, uh obtain getting government assistance, like the health, like the health insurance companies getting money subsidies may not vertically integrate. This is a scam when when the health insurance companies can own the hospitals and and then they can determine to send to the government. I I need 200. I need 300 when when they're got both sides of the coin, they're raising the price to match the subsidies that they can get out of the government. Which has nothing of doctor patients' rights, because I'd like to see HIPAA uh expanded and compete. And honestly, in a perfect world, you would have your medical records on the blockchain and you would release none of them, not even to your doctor, unless you want to. And then so the so the Supreme Court ruled back in 1905 that the government has the

School Choice Surges In Texas

SPEAKER_10

right to uh impose a vaccine based off of smallpox. So I would like to see him in such a way that say when someone says, Well, are you vaccinated? You can just say yeah. And your records are all locked down. They don't know one way or another. Uh that's one way to solve that problem. Yeah, it's we we've got too much data out there, including our medical records, and uh that needs to be reined in, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_00

No, absolutely I agree with you wholeheartedly. I also kind of, as we're getting close to the wrap-up, I also have one more one more thing I want to touch on here. And I think all these things are I I hate using the phrase interconnected, I think that's been co-opted a bit, but a lot of these things are interconnected. You talk about, you know, anything from inflation and and people being able to buy homes or afford just living life in America in a first world nation, and you obviously can tell, okay, things are connected to immigration, things are connected to foreign policy, to spending, to taxation, all these things are kind of connected. Another one of those topics is what's going on with our farmers, our ranchers, and our food security, uh, dealing with FDA oversight. What does it look like to go back to a time where we can produce, you know, more American stuff, interstate beef acts, all this. What does this kind of look like in that regard?

SPEAKER_10

So, yeah, yeah, they are. They are all interconnected. They're interconnected by government regulation and government uh picking and choosing the winners. And it in like beef processing, the government has picked and choose winners. There's four beef processing plants for the whole U.S. There's two manufacturers that make the NGO corn seeds. What it looks like is that we got to get the FDA out of the state business, restore state sovereignty. Texas, Texas ranchers selling Texas beef to Texans should have no federal regulations on it whatsoever. And and the processes are taking all the profit away from the ranchers and and and the consumers bearing all that you know on the food side of things. But it's it's over regulation, it's over uh it it it's it's the federal government stepping into state sovereignty where they have no business. And and I'd I'd like to see that sovereignty restored, particularly in the areas of uh food, food security, things of that nature.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so as we wrap up here, Jeff, one more thing. As we wrap up, um obviously we're in early voting. Let's say, hypothetically, you know, you end up winning the election, you go forward, and obviously there's a lot of different issues that we just highlighted or interconnected. What does it look like? You get in, and and obviously you're you're one of many members that that limits your ability to specifically get your priorities done right off the bat. What are the biggest things that you want to fight for the moment you get in? You say, hey, I I'm in, what am I, what am I, I'm right off the bat, what am I doing? What's what's your what's your goal? What's what's the area where you want to proceed just starting off?

SPEAKER_10

Well, to start off, and I've said this on my website, I'm gonna file the 28th Amendment to ban property taxes on homesteads. Uh, we we need homestead security, uh, and and people are gonna realize that I just read a Google ad AI is gonna replace white collar, they AI could replace white-collar jobs within 18 months. Those people will jump on board about not paying property taxes for their homes. But I I every turn, anything that requires additional debt, anything that gives money away, any type of grant going anywhere, uh I am going to fight tooth and nail. Any politicians that stand in the way of pushing forward with individual freedoms and everything, I'm gonna name them by name. You get a bully pulpit when you go to Congress. And you look at uh bully pulpit. I am going to be the voice, and I'm going to be the way it is this way. We're trying to get here for you, and these are the people that are standing in the way. If you ever notice politicians never blame one another, you submitted this, but it didn't go anywhere. Well, you know what? If I submit it and Jonathan won't put in the committee, I'll call out Jonathan. If the committee won't have a vote, I'll call out the chairman of the committee. That's my plan. Um just be a jerk. I mean, I hope Steve Kofe gets in. I love Steve Kofe. That would be a great person to partner with. You've got Paul Luna, you've got again Tim Burger. 3035 um conservative congressmen there now out of the 435. And we've got a couple an opportunity just here local to pick up a couple more, and and I definitely will um do everything in my power to you know work with those people.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Well, Jeff, as always, I want to thank you for coming on, for giving us your time this morning, uh, for being open and transparent about the issues that matter to you and the the issues that frankly matter to Texans and all Americans. And thanks for coming on and giving us your time this morning.

SPEAKER_10

Hey, yeah, but they gotta go vote. So vote start today, vote for Jeff Yuna. Um, my website's Jeff Yuna for Texas.com. You can see uh what we talked about today and much more. And thank you, thank you, thank you again. I'm so grateful for this opportunity.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. And with that being said, ladies and gentlemen, uh, again, that is Jeff Yuna for Texas. If you'd like to learn more and read through those issues yourself, Jeff Yuna for Texas.com. And as he mentioned, today kicks off early voting and it's not slowing down. So make sure you are getting out there and you are voting. When we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and talk about school choice because the applications have skyrocketed since the last update. SPEAKER_00

So less than two weeks after applications opened for the Texas's new school choice program, more than 100,000 students have already applied for education freedom accounts according to the Texas Comptroller's Office. The early surge marks what state officials say is the largest launch of a new school choice program in the nation's history, by the way, with the application window still open for more than another month. So say that there's uh say that there's six or seven weeks in the time period to apply. In the first two, we've received over a hundred thousand applications. And so, again, we still have a month left for people to still apply. Like the application this is still the application window. This isn't when we're starting to give them out. We still have a month left in the application window when when you can still apply for school choice for your students. And so there's a lot of parents, I'm sure, who were unaware of the date, uh, who have been thinking, hey, am I eligible? Hey, maybe I should apply. And so I think there is a lot of conversations regarding how many more people are still going to apply before the end of that wrap-up. And and by the way, not only have we had a hundred thousand applications, but the budget, the one billion dollar allocated budget for school choice, has basically a max limit of a hundred thousand students. Maximum. So we've already reached the max eligibility just in applications in the first two weeks of the program of the application window. And so eligible students, of course, can receive more than $10,000 annually for private school expenses, up to $30,000 for students with disabilities, about $2,000. If you're a homeschool family and you're trying to cover homeschool costs, again, it was about a billion dollars for the program's first year and amount predicted to support about 100,000 students, which uh I want to highlight this again. People on the left want to say this is not a popular policy. School choice is defunding public schools. If it was not a popular policy choice, then how do you have a hundred thousand students who apply in the first two weeks to already meet the thresholds? Of course, once once say another hundred thousand apply in the next four to five weeks, by the end of it, obviously you're gonna have to select the number of you you you have you gotta pick. Even if everybody's eligible, that means only 50% of eligible people are actually gonna get any funding. What this should tell the left and the right, really, is that parents, people, families are a fan of regardless of the setup or what your position on this particular form of school choice, what this should tell everybody is that Texans as a whole are fans of this policy proposition, are fans of the concept of receiving their funding back to them to cover whatever school they deem necessary for their students. And so, of course, with that already approaching the program's initial capacity, the early response may increase pressure on lawmakers as well. Uh, this is called voting with your dollars or voting with what you actually choose to do with policy. To to consider, of course, ramping up and expanding the program the next legislative session. Come to the beginning of 2027, they're gonna be saying, hey, we over we we we had far more applications than we did have room. We had far more people who wanted school choice than were able to receive it. We obviously this is something that is worth funding, off get off worth giving money to. And so Anthony Copdroller said Tex families are embracing a new era of educational freedom at historic levels. For years, parents have asked for more control and more choices when it comes to their children's education. Texas is delivering and families are seizing the opportunity. And so applications for the program opened just about two weeks ago on February 4th, following a passage of Senate Bill II last year. And so Abbott said the TEFA program receiving more than 100,000 applications in less than two weeks proves that families overwhelmingly want school choice. Through this program, families will receive funds to send their children to a school that is the best fit for them. I congratulate acting controller Kelly Hancock for his unwavering support and dedication to this program's monumental success. Texas families are now more in control of their child's academic success regardless of their location or income. And so, of course, eligible families under the Education Freedom Account program may receive state funds for private school tuition, homeschool expenses, other approved educational services beginning with the 2026-2077 school year, which of course kicks off this fall. And so the again, the program is not first come, first served. Families who apply before the deadline on March 17th will be eligible for participation. If demand exceeds available funding, recipients will be selected through a lottery that prioritizes students with disabilities and students from low and middle income households. And so the w whether you applied at the the first day it opened or you apply on March 16th, your odds are no different. They they stay exactly the same. And so, of course, currently the fact sheet indicates that applicants reflect a wide range of income levels. Uh seven in ten applicants fall within the income groups prioritized under the law. The same data shows that most applicants intend to use the program for private school enrollment, while a smaller share plans to use funds for homeschooling or other educational arrangements. So they said, we want every eligible Texas family to know this program is built for them. The application is simple, mobile friendly, takes just minutes to complete. This is about putting parents in the driver's seat and giving every child the chance to learn in the environment that fits them best. And as I've said, since the beginning of the conversation, before there was ever even a law drafted for school choice, I've been saying for a very long time that in theory at least, school choice is a phenomenal idea. Because the grim reality is that most parents send their child to whatever their their tailored public school is, because that's that's the option that they see is actually available to them. That's the reason. They don't like the public schools. They don't like at least public school their kids are often in, but they feel like that they don't really have a choice, uh, whether that's financial issues, what whatever that is for them. That's a big part of the reason why parents have historically been sending their kids to the specific public school that they're sending their kids to. And the school choice, uh as as in any capitalist scenario, allows not only for more choice, but it also allows for not only parental authority. I think one of the biggest things is it increases competition. And because I I don't have inherently a problem with some form of public education. That's not even really where the issue is. It is on what public education actually is right now, what it's become, what it's about, and and how it operates. And they've basically held a monopoly on education. That that's certainly where the vast majority of students go. Uh, for whatever reason or another,

Lawsuit Over Epic City Development

SPEAKER_00

that's where most students are educated. And educated is a stretch to even say that word because the students aren't being educated at all in the slightest, not even remotely. And so school choice allows for that sort of competition. And competition, and this is my issue with the leftist argument against school choice. Well, it's gonna defund public school. And I would argue back with that, and I'd say, okay, so you have five businesses that are all selling the the a product designed to do the same thing. Right? You're selling a water hose and there's a company that you think is inherently just allowed to continue, despite the fact that they sell the worst water hose that does not i it it consistently has issues where it it locks and gets stuck. Uh it's very, very unreliable when it comes to heat and it'll break. So many issues with that water hose. And I say, well, that's there there's a monopoly. What if we what if we allow the other companies to actually compete and to start selling their water hoses? Two things are gonna happen. One, that's gonna give the consumer more opportunity to buy a good water hose, which is good, inherently good. It's also gonna mean that that company that you want to succeed, if they want to succeed, they're gonna have to start making better dang water hoses. That that's that's what's going to have to happen. And so that's the same thing with school choice. We talk about it if even if you like, even if you are an adamant public school supporter, the reality is that if if you want to see kids educated well, competition increases that. Even at the public school level. Because now, if they want the school choice funding, if they want the funding from those families, you know what they have to do? They have to provide a reason for me to choose them. They have to give me a good reason why, why should I send my kids to your school? Because I'll provide them with the best educational opportunity, bang for your buck. And if you can't make that argument, then you don't deserve to be in business anyway. You don't deserve to continue operating with my funds. So, with that being said, uh, we're coming up on the end of the show here soon, and we still have a ton of stories that I was hoping to get into. Um when we get back from the break, we are going to jump over and talk about a couple of sexual assault, sexual abuse cases. Uh, one was a man sentenced for sexually abusing the same child in the f in Florida and in the Houston area. We'll go over what he's been sentenced to over in Fort Bend County. We'll also jump over and talk about a Houston attorney who also committed sexual assault uh of a woman that he met at a club, and we'll compare and contrast those punishments and why it seems like these crimes are consistently happening and the real reality behind why they're happening. And that's because people are incentivized to commit those crimes because, to be quite frank, they get away with them. We'll talk about it when we get back from the break. You're listening to Lone Star Conservative. Text in at 713-779-5978. One more time. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and I'll be right back with those stories after the break.

If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal, they're coming from offshore call centers. You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

So a criminal defense attorney charged with sexual assault of a woman he met at a Houston club after just at an after hours club, by the way, was convicted by a jury after an early set of jurors failed to agree on the case. Contrast that, you also have this guy who has been sentenced for sexually abusing a young child in two different states. Jason Alfred Sanderson pled guilty to a charge on continuous sexual abuse of a young child. The 39-year-old Dominica immigrant was charged after the child reported the crime

Closing And Next Show Tease

SPEAKER_00

to a trusted adult. An investigation by both the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and the Hillsborough County, Florida Sheriff's Office revealed Sanderson began abusing the victim in 2022 over in Florida. The abuse continued into 2023 in the Cady and Richmond area off Fort Bend County. During the investigation, Sanderson was interviewed by investigators with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office and admitted to sexual abuse in both jurisdictions. He's expected to face criminal charges in Florida for their criminal conduct he perpetrated in that state as well. And so, of course, you have a statement from the office that said children inherently trust the adults in their lives to protect them from harm. Jason Sanderson violated and weaponized that trust. It is my hope that the sentence gives strength and power to the family and the young child. It's a good day when we can get a significant sentence without having to expose the child's survivor to the experience of a trial. The defendant will be 65 years old and the sentence expires, and our neighborhoods will be free of this threat for the next 25 years. So just to be clear, this guy sexually abused a young child for years. And he got 25 years in a jail cell. That that's it. That's all that happened. And then you also look at this criminal defense attorney. So uh Lance uh Nguyen was sentenced yes uh today uh y yesterday yesterday to eight years probation for sexual assault, but was ordered by Judge Andrea Beale to serve a hundred days in the Harris County jail. So th these are two cases right here in both cases, right? And obviously one we could argue is is worse than the other, but in both cases you have someone who committed some form of sexual assault and was convicted. And in one case you get 25 years in jail, and in the other one, you get a hundred days plus probation, and then we're supposed to be some sort of shocked when these crimes keep happening, right? We're supposed to be like some sort of surprised when these crimes still pop up over and over and over again. Why would people ever do that? Because people are evil, and that's why you have laws to govern evil people. You you have laws to punish the wicked and protect the innocent. Both of those things. When when you take someone who commits a sexual assault and you give them a hundred days in jail, right? That's three months. Somebody has to wait three months in a jail cell, then they're out and they have probation. That's not an incentive to not commit a crime, especially now, because now it's already all over their criminal record. The main argument, I think the worst part for that particular crime, I don't think the worst part's a hundred days in jail with the probation. I think the worst part is it's now on your record. I think that's a bigger issue. And if it's already on your record, now you're even more incentivized to commit the crime because it's already on your record. What's another one gonna do? It's already there. You've already done it in similar fashion. I get it. Oh, well, he'd be he'll be off the streets for 25 years. Yeah, you know, we could make sure he was off the streets permanently, and it wouldn't be very hard. It'd also be a lot cheaper. There's there's actually a a third option between 25 years, 80 years, five years. There's actually another one, right? Where these people are not off the streets for a limited period of time. They're off the streets permanently. And no, I'm not talking about life in prison. I'm talking about a far more affordable, more moral, and more just option. People like this have no place in a civil society. They actually have no place in the world at all. If you're going to sexually abuse a child, I I don't even understand the argument for why that is not immediately eligible and actually required to be given capital punishment. I I do not understand any of the and I've heard arguments from every side of the political aisle on the justification for prison time for these sorts of crimes, and I don't get it. Right? This guy says that he survives to the age of 65, which likely, statistically, he will, he survives till he's 65, right? And and you do the math out on that, right? Because we spend about 30, about $33,000 a year, give or take, on on per inmate basis in Texas jails. So you multiply that out by 25 years, we're gonna spend almost a million dollars, almost a million dollars supporting a man, making sure that he stays alive, well-fed, and well-nourished after he sexually abused a little child. Does that make sense to anybody else? Is there is there anybody who says, yeah, but that's the best course of action? Spending a million dollars of taxpayer money to house, feed, and take care of a man who sexually abused a child continuously in multiple states. Absolutely not. You know what should happen? And again, I already said this, but I'll say it again. You know what costs significantly less than almost a million dollars? You know what also guarantees that he never touches a child again? And you know what also, by the way, this would also be preventable? You know what tells every other would-be sexual abuser, hey, if you do this thing, this is what's gonna happen to you as a sort of incentive to not commit the crime, as a sort of preventative aspect, if they know that they're gonna get beheaded, or if they know that they're gonna be hung in the public square, or if they know that they're gonna be thrown in, they're gonna be drowned. Like whatever the whatever the the agreed upon methodology for capital punishment for the death penalty is, right? Regardless of what we choose. I I can be I can be swayed. I'm I'm not set in stone on on public hangings. I'm I'm content with a guillotine or an executioner's axe, right? I I I am more than willing to compromise on what I think the best form of capital punishment is. More than happy to do that. But I don't understand at all the argument that's this anti-death penalty. It should be far more common occurrence to utilize the death penalty. If you're gonna sexually abuse a child or you're gonna commit capital murder or you're gonna commit sexual assault, these are the sorts of crimes that that the death penalty should certainly be reserved for. And I don't even think they just people should be just eligible. I actually think I would take it a step further. You're not just eligible for the death penalty if you get convicted of this sort of crime. It's actually the requirement. We don't even have a sentencing time. You you are automatically, by nature of being convicted for this particular crime, you are sentenced thereby to death. That that is the Christian principle, that is an American principle, that is a conservative principle, that is a moral and just principle, and it also has the side effect of people will be far less likely to commit that sort of crime because if they get caught, they're going to lose their lives. Not just go make friends in jail for 25 years or 100 days or whatever it is. With that being said, to wrap up the show after the break, we're gonna jump over to about one more lawsuit. Uh Ken Paxton is just on a roll right now, uh, from the attorney general, who is now suing MUD over an alleged scheme to support the epic city development, which of course is that proposed sort of Islamic enclave in Collin and Hunt counties, which has continually faced scrutiny from basically everybody, myself included. Uh, and now there's there's a lawsuit going on over the MUD district coming in, uh double R municipal municipal utility district number 2A of those counties, alleging that there is unlawful actions and to discurt state oversight and benefit the development tied to the East Plano Islamic Center. We'll talk about that investigation, that lawsuit when we get back from the break. This is your last opportunity, if you would like to be a part of the show, to text in at 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and Lord willing, I return to wrap up the show with that lawsuit after this break. So stick around. We'll wrap it up soon.

Attorney Paxton's office, the lawsuit was filed after evidence surfaced that Double R. Mudd held a highly unusual special meeting last September, scheduled at noon at a remote location marked only by GPS coordinates. At that meeting, these AC board members allegedly resigned, were immediately replaced by new individuals, and the newly formed board that approved an expansion of the district's boundaries. The board's rapid approval reportedly annexed more than 400 acres described as the meadow, previously known as Epic City, into the double R mud. The Attorney General contends that this maneuver was designed to help Epic City developers evade state review by expanding an existing district rather than going through the legal process of forming a new one. Paxon's office further alleges that some or all of the new board members do not meet the legal qualifications required to hold office with any municipal utility district. When state regulators sought documentation verifying their eligibility, they delayed producing records, and those eventually provided reportedly confirmed the individuals were unqualified to exercise taxing authority or serve as directors. Paxon said, quote, I will not allow individuals to cheat the system to advance an illegal development and destroy beautiful Texas land. If Epic City's developers or operatives are attempting to illegally take over local governmental structures in North Texas, my office will do everything in our power to stop their scheme. So just to kind of rephrase this so that it makes perfect sense. You have this municipal utility district in the general vicinity, but it doesn't cover the land, this this purchased land that they want to develop this Islamic enclave in. And so they, for whatever reason, the board meets at this random location in the middle of nowhere, only governed by GPS coordinates. They meet privately for their meeting. They all resign. The entire district the the entire MUD authority, all of them resign and are immediately replaced with new representatives to represent the district. And then they vote immediately to expand their district to include the 400 acres that the Epic community wants to use. And now they have a municipal utility utility district that appears, by all appearances, to be on their side. That's insane. If you don't understand the Islamic invasion that's happening in North Texas, I I mean this is just the next step in a months to years-long battle over Islamic influence here in the U.S. Either way, that is my time for the show. I want to thank everyone for tuning in, for lending your ear to me this morning. I hope you uh everyone enjoys their Tuesday. We're doing back, of course, bright and early tomorrow at 6 a.m. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your day and Godspeed.
