Justice, Language, And The Cost Of Mercy Without Truth

What happens when feelings try to overrule facts? We open with a sharp distinction between compassion and empathy—and why that difference shapes everything from immigration and school policy to Medicare and public safety. Compassion urges help while insisting on truth and consequences; empathy, when weaponized, blurs lines and invites exceptions that unravel order.

We put that lens on a high-profile Houston immigration case where ICE details the legal grounds for detaining a long-time resident with drug convictions at a U.S. port of entry. Then we head to Austin, where the Attorney General warns Austin ISD over alleged violations of the Texas Women’s Privacy Act, laying out how notice, penalties, and compliance windows function when laws are meant to be enforced, not just announced. Along the way, we underline a core point: good statutes, real investigations, and fair courts must work together—or “illegal” becomes a suggestion.

From there, we track a federal filing that ties multiple 2023 highway shootings to a biker gang war, and a Montgomery County arrest that bundles fentanyl, meth, and stolen IDs—clear signals that deterrence still matters. The most heartbreaking story centers on a Galveston capital murder conviction after a mother killed her 18-month-old daughter, raising hard questions about insanity claims, sentencing, and the cultural collapse of family roles designed to protect children. Explanations can coexist with accountability; justice exists to safeguard the innocent.

We also shift to your wallet: CMS’s proposed 0.09% Medicare rate increase leaves carriers bracing for plan changes in a high-inflation reality. That number isn’t abstract—benefits, networks, and cost-sharing could all move. Our advice is practical and local: lean on licensed experts who can help you keep essential coverage as the ground shifts.

If you care about clear language, consistent enforcement, and a justice system that values truth over temporary comfort, this conversation is for you.

SPEAKER_16

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Textellant AC Service. It is great to be with you this morning. Part of another week, we're now back, and I am just, I'm just looking forward to everything we have going on this week, mainly because I'm looking at a lot of the stories that we have going on today. And I'm realizing that we're gonna have a lot of, let's say, big conversations. I am not saying that not every day we have big conversations, but today, the list of stories that I have compiled for us to go over that I think are important to go over here in both the local and statewide news, I think are gonna force us to talk about uh some bigger things than just, hey, this guy, you know, sold drugs, went to jail. We'll have some of that. That's it, because it's out there and everyone needs to be aware of what's going on, you know, in their local area like that. But there's also a lot of opportunities to discuss the importance of understanding what words mean, the importance of understanding what the left means when they use certain terms, what certain terms mean so that you don't get blindsided by them. I give you a great example of this. Uh, because it's how we're gonna kind of kick off the show. And a great example of this is an understanding of the difference between, say, compassion and empathy. And I think that the left wants to create them in a sense that they're interchangeable while knowing their difference, but those words are not interchangeable because there is a vast cavernous difference between empathy and compassion. We're called to be compassionate in scripture. Well, the left, because they want to use that term interchangeably, they'll say, Well, you're you're Christians. You're supposed to be empathetic. And I always have to put a pause to the conversation and say, Can you show me any verse in the Bible where I'm called to be empathetic? Compassion um gives us an understanding, right, that we can we can have a level of love, care, and kindness for a person who is in bad conditions, right? If those bad conditions are self-inflicted, even empathy is this concept that's been created in the modern world where we're supposed to feel how someone else feels, right? This is the large justification between understanding, you know, compassion would say, yeah, that guy that's a pedophile, I want him to receive the gospel, but he's a pedophile and needs to face justice. That's compassionate. You say, I still don't understand the gospel. Even though he's evil, I still want Christ to come into his life. Empathy would say, no, no, no, that's a minor attracted person. I I understand his struggle. I I feel that. I get it. Empathy has been a weaponized construct designed to make us as Christians, rather than feel compassion for someone, rather than understand what's good and what's evil, and making sure those distinctions are clear, it's been used again as a battering ram to shove down our throats that somehow we are supposed to really understand why someone did what they did, so that the thing they did ultimately can be excused. That's part two of empathy. But it all starts with part one because we're never called to try to feel how they feel. We're never called to understand their motivations. We're called to do is take compassion on them, despite the sin, despite the issues. And those are two very different things. They may seem kind of like small, minor differences, but when you you start to understand those fine differences, it starts to click that those will create two entirely different scenarios because compassion ultimately still calls for justice to be done to those who do wicked things, to those who do evil things, as opposed to empathy, which will be and has been historically weaponized as a justification to not continue making sure that justice is enforced, as a justification to make all of us sit idly by and say, well, I get why that guy did it. It's understandable, right? And they apply empathy to a whole lot of things. They apply empathy to uh it's been the main argument, by the way, for abortion. Well, what if you were going through that? What if you went through that scenario? Don't you think that this might be a justifiable action? Don't you understand why someone would do this? Don't you want to feel what they might have felt? Right? They'll use this in the abortion arguments, they'll use this in the LGBTQ, uh, any level of it, right? Homosexuality, they'll do it for transgenderism, non-binaryism, all these sorts of things. They'll they'll weaponize empathy to say, well, what if that was you? What if that was your child going through this? They'll do that all the time, right? Well, you have to understand how your child feels. Your child wants to, you know, they have suicidal ideation. If you don't understand that and you don't feel that, well, you have to understand what we have to do as a result of that, which is you gotta give your kids the puberty hormones, puberty blocking hormones, and chemical castration. You've got to let them get the surgery and wear the chest binders. It's like, no, no, no, no, no. I have compassion on my child because I love them and I care deeply for them. But the result cannot be sin. And they'll do this in the LGBTQ, they'll do it in abortion. One of the big areas they've done it recently as well has been immigration. And you, I can guarantee if you've ever talked to someone on the left about immigration policy, this has been a big one where you've probably heard this sort of argument. They're just trying to provide for their family. They're just trying to come to America and give their family a better life. Isn't that what America's all about? American exceptionalism all has always been giving your family a good, having the opportunity to give your family a good life. And that has resulted, of course, in mass immigration policies that have disrupted the cultural cohesion that we have, that have disrupted the culture in general, that have created chaos over order, that have created lawlessness. Those are all the results of weaponized empathy, which can only work if you have empathy in the first place. Because they can't weaponize compassion. They can try, but it doesn't, it's not nearly as successful because you can be compassionate and say, no, yeah, I I I do get that, you know, they want a better life. Okay. I feel bad for their you know, I can say, oh, yeah, their current condition is not fun. But compassion can never be used well to justify lawlessness in the way that empathy can. And so to the reason I bring all that up is to talk about this story uh that's going on right here in Houston, because ICE has now responded to media requests after this guy from Houston. They they want to call him a Houston man. I'm unwilling to even read that because I don't think it's true. I think it all already, and they do this all the time, by the way. I was reading a story. They do this in Europe, they do it up in the north, especially. They'll say, Maine man been deported. It's like, no, the guy is an illegal immigrant from like Swahili. Like the guy is not a Maine man. He may have resided in Maine illegally, not a Maine man. They'll they'll go, you'll go to you'll look at a headline from the Daily Mail over in Europe, and the headline will read something like and they'll they'll name an area, like I I don't know the name, you know, they'll say Edinburgh man, you know, thrown in jail for this. And then you'll read the story and it's like, well, the guy was an illegal immigrant living in Scotland, and and he was from this rogue Muslim nation who came in, tried to come in under refugee status, didn't qualify, came in anyway, and then committed multiple rapes against children. The guy's not an Edinburgh man just because he illegally resided there. I think that already is using that sort of empathetic tagline to convince you of those things. But this guy resided in Houston. He apparently spent something like 25 years here in America as this sort of resident, and uh now he's been detained. And the family, of course, is saying, well, the detainment itself is wrong and immoral and should be illegal and and all this stuff. And ICE has now responded and come back and said, No, actually, we are totally under our legal rights to detain someone like this. So let's let's dive into the story a little bit. Because this guy he he came over to the U.S. about 25 years ago. His fiance, of course, is disputing the federal agency's claims, ISIS claims, and the legality of his detention. Uh she says that federal agents and federal law is supposed to shield him from removal because, you know, he's been here so long. He's he's stayed a long time. And so, of course, you can you can hear right off the bat the main argument is, and and I'll read this, in in this in these messages from the family and from the lawyers of the family, they've said, well, he's been a resident. Curtis Wright's been a resident for 25 years. Uh, it's been twenty-two years since he committed any offenses. ICE has renewed his green card twice. He is no longer deportable and is being unlawfully detained. And so, of course, the lawyers and the family of this man is describing the emotional toll on his 18-month-old daughter, saying, quote, she wakes up every morning saying, Dad, that, because it would usually be him going to get her. We are all devastated. They say he's been uh detained f since returning from a business trip that he took to Mexico, and said he's lived, again, legally in the U.S. for over two decades and has three U.S. born children. Right? All this stuff. They'll say, well, you gotta feel how that guy feels, right? He's he's moved here, been here 25 years, his green card's been renewed, and all this stuff. And, you know, his family needs him, his daughter needs him, all these sorts of arguments and claims. Right, which by the way, this gets into a whole nother topic about anchor babies, which is just just an evil thing to do in the first place. But nevertheless, back in January, his attorneys filed a writ of habeas corpus, arguing, of course, that his detention ultimately violates due process and his constitutional rights. Um, and they've also sought assistance from representatives, legislate uh legislators, all that sort of stuff. And they said, uh, well, we support removing dangerous criminals from the U.S., of course. Uh, but this guy, not a dangerous criminal, just a good man trying to work. He literally over and over, the lawyer said Curtis is not a bad man. And so here's the statement from ICE. Because as of now, all you've heard again is this weaponized empathy saying, well, imagine how he feels, right? Put yourself in those shoes, right? Understand what he's going through. And he says, Well, how about actually instead? We can take as much compassion as we want, but how about we look at the facts of the case? This guy has two drug convictions, not allegations, two drug convictions in the U.S. And they said he was denied entry when he returned from a trip to Mexico and he arrived at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. He presented a Canadian passport. Uh, he he is a legal resident who applied for admission to the United States as a returning LPR. And they said he was denied entry because of his drug convictions. He was arrested and he was turned over to ICE, where he remains in custody pending the outcome of his immigration case. On January 21st, 2004, Wright was convicted for possession of a controlled substance. He was then convicted again in November for the same offense in the same court, again for possession of a controlled substance. And this is where they say a green card is a privilege, not a right. Under our nation's laws, our government has the authority to revoke a green card if our laws are broken and abused. In addition to immigration removal proceedings, lawful permanent residents presenting at a U.S. Port of Entry with previous criminal convictions may be subject to mandatory detention. And so, of course, the family is saying, well, those drug convictions were twenty-two years ago. That's not justifia that's not a justifiable reason to arrest him now. And in fact, the family has argued, well, you guys are the ones who renewed his green card, despite the drug conviction. So ICE has already done that. You've already clearly said it's not a danger to society. You've let him stay, and now all of a sudden you go after him. And that argument would make a semblance of sense if ICE was even really remotely the same organization 20 years ago that it is today, and it's not. Because again, ICE has been severely castrated for a very long time from actually doing the job they're supposed to do. Because we all understand that one of the main rules of ICE is dealing with those who should not be here, those who have, say, drug convictions and are on visas or green cards or whatever the immigration process is, refugee status, whatever, whatever tagline you want to put it under. The job of ICE is to deal with those sorts of people. And those who don't have any of those statuses whatsoever and just came into the country illegally. So you say, well, 22 years has passed. Sure. And now, after 20 years, we have an immigration system that is finally functioning and finally saying, yeah, we actually have to prioritize law and order over lawlessness and chaos. We actually have to deal with people who are in this country who should not be here. And that's not always going to be fun. It's not always going to present happy stories with good endings. It's not always going to result in a story where you look at it and you say, Well, that makes me feel good. And that right there is exactly the problem because our legal system, our immigration system, our laws should not ever be based on what feels good. Ever. Because the world is often a horrible place. There are often scenarios where people do bad things, people break laws, people do things they should not do, and as a result, there will be repercussions and consequences that don't always make people feel good. Right. And I've said this before. There is a major issue in someone's life if they take joy or find happiness in people receiving punishment. We're not supposed to do that. It's not supposed to be fun. I know that there are stories of people who were excited and they had cheering for hangings. Not the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Right? We we can find a level of you know, saying, yeah, we we call for this, we demand for justice, we demand for capital punishment for this crime or the other. But that's different than finding happiness. I'm talking about psycho psychopathy, where you're where you're somebody who enjoys, takes pleasure in the death of other people, right? Not what I'm referring to. The problem is our organ our our country, our legal system has been co-opted by feelings. And that's the main argument from the left when it comes to immigration in general. Well, this is wrong. Why is it wrong? This is wrong. Why? Why tell me why it's wrong? Because it just that that's not it feels bad. It makes me feel sad. I'm unhappy. And that's the extent of their argument. And that's why they use empathy as their main force to justify what they do. And again, they do this in a variety of ways with a variety of policies in a variety of you know instances, right? Whether you look at again abortion, LGBTQ issues, immigration, you name it, the left is basing their entire argument not on logic, not on facts, not on objective morality, but on what they're willing to subject, what they're willing to change to subjective standards on the basis of what makes them feel good. On the basis of what makes them feel happy, what makes them feel like everybody got a happy ending, rather than on what's right. And we as conservatives and as Christians have to be willing to take the high road and say, I I know, I get it, it doesn't feel good. And that does not change the facts of the scenario, that does not change reality, that does not change what is the right thing to do. You had a privilege coming to this country. You then violated our laws. And you can say, well, it was so-and-so this many years ago, statute of limitations, all these sorts of things, but that doesn't change a thing. That does not change our policy addressing these sorts of problems. And you broke that privilege, and I get, well, well, they should have done it sooner. I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, probably every person on the right would agree. Yeah, you should have been deported and your green card revoked 22 years ago. I agree. And when it didn't get done 22 years ago, it should have been done 21 years ago and 20 years ago, and on and on and on, and it should certainly be done today. You had a privilege to come to this country and you abused that. And every single person who's come to this country and abused our legal system and abused our justice system and abused our culture should face repercussions, which usually include deportations, saying you don't get to stay here. This is not where you get to reside any longer. And of course, this, as I mentioned earlier, goes into a very long conversation about having children in the U.S. and how, again, they have weaponized the Constitution because it feels good to produce U.S. citizens because they were born on U.S. land, which just doesn't make any sense as an argument, because of course, that's how you wind up with anchor babies who are often raised in a very different culture than American culture, who uh this is why you have schools in Houston and ISD where they're teaching in Spanish, they're teaching in other languages, because you have all these kids who are uh families of immigrants rather than learning English and growing up in American culture and American ideologies, they grow up in the ideology of their parents and the language of their parents and the beliefs of their parents, and they're not Americans. They don't vote like Americans, they don't believe in American ethics and American rule of law. They believe in whatever they were raised to believe, which, because their parents are not American by nature, they don't believe the things that an American would believe. And so, of course, we could have a conversation about how I also think that it's sad, right? I do take compassion on the fact that your daughter misses you. I I do. I I know that that must be devastating. I I 100% understand that. And I can understand that and say, so our policy actually should be that the whole family goes together. That should actually be a policy that we have. That should mean that everyone goes with you when you're deported. Take your family. I don't like separating families. Right? It's the same time, it's the same thing Tom Homan said when he said, well, he was asked, well, on 60 minutes, well, how do you deal with this? Families are being separated, right? You deport somebody and he's away from his family. Yeah, he goes, Yeah, I don't like that. I think we should deport families together. Then there wouldn't be any separation. But then, of course, the left wouldn't like that either. No, instead, their their excuse, their justification is no, everyone has to stay here. If you came here and you had kids, no, everybody gets to stay. Automatic entry to the U.S. if you can just get here and have a kid. And a lot of people do that. And they think that that's supposed to be some sort of protection mechanism for staying in our country, despite the fact that they should not be here. And so we've got to do a complete overhaul of the immigration system. And the final note on this is we've got to stop pandering to people's feelings. Plain and simple. We we have got to stop with the notion that if it doesn't make you feel good, then it must not be good. Well, if it makes you feel bad, we gotta change the law. No. Things are gonna feel bad. There's gonna be instances where, like, oh, you look at that, you say, This is sad. But it's sad largely because of a result of sin, a result of breaking the law. And you face repercussions for that, and it doesn't have to feel good for it to be the right thing to do. With that being said, when we return from the break, we're gonna jump over and uh talk a little bit about Attorney General Ken Paxton, because he's now warning Austin ISD over alleged violations of the Texas Women's Privacy Act, which of course was designed as the left will call it an anti trans measure, but it was designed to make sure that women's spaces are for women, right? That there are no biological males in locker rooms, bathrooms, all of those sorts of spaces. No, that's actually for women. And if you're not a woman, you don't. Get to go in there. That's not your place to be. And so we passed a law said this is evil. We shouldn't do that. And so now Austin ISD is having to face this warning because maybe, just maybe, they violated that. We'll talk about it when we get back. If you want to text in about any of the stuff we're going over, feel free to do so at 713-779-5978. That's 713-779-KYSD. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Paxton Warns Austin ISD On SB8

Enforcement, Penalties, And Compliance

SPEAKER_16

So Ken Jackson's office is now sending and has now sent a legal notice to Austin Independent School District after receiving complaint alleging violations of Senate Bill Eight. Now, according to the Texas Attorney General's office, the complaint claims that both Austin ISD and Austin High School were aware that a biological male was using girls' restrooms and locker rooms, which of course the state says would violate the law. Senate Bill Eight, also known as the Texas Women's Privacy Act, prohibits state agencies and local government entities from allowing individuals who were given, you know, the male assignment at birth because they're males, that's why they were assigned male at birth, they're dudes, to use women's private spaces in public facilities, including restrooms and locker rooms. The notice, which was sent by the Attorney General's office, warns the district that continued violations could result in a civil penalty of up to five thousand dollars per day if the issue is not addressed. State officials say the notice is a required step in the process before the office can file a lawsuit. You have to warn them essentially first and say, hey, just so you know, this is new. This is this came out in the last year or so. Yeah, if you if you're doing this, you're violating state law and you need to stop now, or it's going to result in some sort of civil penalties. So Austin ISD, from the time that that was written, I think it was back on March 6th, I believe it was right as the weekend was coming up. They now have 15 days from that moment, so a little less than two weeks to correct the alleged violations if they end up being real. Of course, before the the investigation's done and before they end up with the law, so they have they have uh a couple of weeks. And so Baxton in a statement said, I will work tirelessly to hold Austin ISD accountable if it does not stop its unlawful policy of allowing men to invade women's spaces. The law is clear that political subdivisions in Texas must not allow biological men to use girls' bathrooms and locker rooms. And so the Attorney General added that the that his office will consider further legal action, again, if the district does not comply. And so the complaint alleges that again, both to Austin ISD and Austin High School have been made aware that a biological male has been using girls' restrooms and locker rooms. In direct violation of the law, SB8 specifically bars any state agency or local government from allowing that to occur. And so again, they've been advised as to what's going to happen if they don't correct this. Right? It's it's not, you know, it's not like there's some sort of, oh, I didn't know. I uh the law's new, man. I didn't know that was happening. I I was just trying to do the things we've always done and, you know, make sure that people are cared for and make sure that they're given their rights. And so essentially Bacton said, Yeah, so that's actually not true. We now have state law on the books. You've been sent a letter making you aware of what's going on. You now know, right? Didn't get lost in the mail. You got it. You now are well aware, not only that what you're doing or potentially doing, again, these are allegations from a complaint, what you're potentially doing is violating the law. You need to be aware of that so you can course correct and immediately change whatever your policy is that is justifying this in your district. Or alternatively, you know, you want to complain about school budgets all the time, you're welcome to take a hefty chunk of that school budget and throw it to paying off your civil penalties, right?$5,000 per day, you know, correct it for a year. I think you I think you get the gist. You're paying millions of dollars, right? That's certainly an option that you have if if you'd like to do that. Five thousand dollars a day, pay it off if you want to keep violating the law this way. And that's if they're only allowing one, right? It's per violation per day. So if you've got five different biological males in your district who are illegally using girls' bathrooms, right? The fact that they are males, right? Five per day at 5,000 per day is$25,000 every day. You you do that uh, you know, for ten days, you're already up to$250,000. You do it for 100 days, you're up to two and a half million. Do it for three times that, you're up to, you know, eight, nine million dollars by the end of the first year. So that's certainly a pathway you could take, though. I would I would wager a guess and say if Austin ISD is anything at all, like every other school district in the nation, they probably don't have an expanded budget to pay that sort of to pay that sort of penalty. Probably not going to happen. And so I actually do like the way this process is set up. Make sure that anyone who didn't know the law knows it. You've been warned, right? We don't want the school districts to have to pay money because of course that's bad for students, it's bad for fixing infrastructure issues. We'd rather you just correct it. That's by the way, true of all laws. We don't want you to break the law so we can punish you. We actually want you to fix what you are doing, not break the law. We don't want anyone to face justice. We'd much rather you just move on and live happily ever after. Fortunately, that's not unfortunately, that's often not how it goes. And so we have to have those violations in place so that if you do break the law, you face repercussions for them. And so in this particular case, uh, I don't think it comes as a surprise to anyone that this is going on in Austin ISD. I don't think any of us are looking at each other and saying, Man, really Austin? I can't believe they do that there. No, if there was any place in the state where this would be happening, I I think it I think it's fair to say Austin ISD is at the top of the list. Though HISD is not far down, right? You guys have to remember last year we did massive reporting. I talked to Moms for Liberty on it. Uh I wrote articles going over multiple issues uh multiple times uh about a case where you had a a young girl who, without the consent or knowledge of her parents, was socially transitioning at school. Uh they allowed her to wear different clothes, they called her by different names and pronouns. She's like an eighth, ninth grader. She was she was young. I mean, she was she was freshman in high school. And this has gone on for a year or two before it was finally addressed. Uh the governor got involved, all this sort of stuff. But let this be a reminder that law, again, as we've highlighted on the show many times, is ultimately useless if you don't have an enforcement mechanism. Right? And I think that's a very important thing to take away from this because I know a lot of people will say, well, it's against the law, so we're good. No, the law is is step one, having good police departments or or attorney general office or investigative units, whatever, whatever department it falls under, that's necessary. And step three, you have to have fair courts that rule in favor of the law, that convict and sentence in favor with the law. If you miss any of those steps, right, if you have bad legislators or you have bad investigative departments, or you have bad courts, the whole thing falls apart. They all have to work in tandem well in order for this to work. But the highlight here is to make sure that our courts are being used correctly, that they're not being weaponized against the American people by continuing to justify these sorts of violations. That's very important. And that's why enforcement mechanisms for the law are so important. If you have a law out there that says, well, if you're a school district, in your school library, you can't have explicit material. That's great. I'm glad that you're saying that. Uh my main concern, actually, is that they're not gonna get punished if they do it. So, really, the law is ultimately meaningless. If I say, you know, theft is illegal, uh, but if you do it, nothing will happen to you. We will not pursue justice, we will not punish you, we will not put you in jail, we will not force you to pay a fine. You steal, you get to keep it, but it is illegal. You think that that's gonna result in less stealing? No, it's gonna result in significantly more stealing. Just look at California, we know that's true. Because, of course, if you don't have enforcement, what's the result? Oh, that's right. People break the law. And so, of course, the same thing is true of the federal government. I I do like to bring this up because people misunderstand the Second Amendment all the time. The Second Amendment is the only thing in the country that is a real enforcement mechanism, accountability measure, against the federal government, against tyranny and oppression. It is the only thing in the Constitution, read it, that allows the people the ability to hold the federal government accountable for what they do. Your right to keep and bear arms. And you know that because of the context in which it was written, of course, right at the tail end of a revolutionary war where the government was tyrannical and oppressive. They said, Hey, every single person needs the ability to defend their family from tyranny and oppression. So boom, Second Amendment shall not be infringed. And that's why it's so important that you join with our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. You see, Gun Owners of America understands the Second Amendment was written as an enforcement mechanism for the people to hold their government accountable, which is why the government does not have the authority to legislate it the way that they have. They do not have the authority to infringe on those God-given rights. And so they go about that, of course, through all the legal law processes, things like campaigning for good candidates, lobbying for good bills, all that sort of stuff. But they also do that through lawsuits. If there is an instance of tyranny, they're willing to take it to court and say, yeah, this is a violation of the Constitution. You can't do this. And they're they're involved in one right now, a very big lawsuit, actually, against the DOJ over unconstitutional violations of the Second Amendment. And so if you'd like to join as a member, you can go to G-Oahuston.com. That is G Oahuston.com. It is a$25 annual membership,$25 per year, that goes to make sure those lawsuits can continue, the campaigns can continue, the lobbying can continue so that your second amendment rights, as always, are defended and supported. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over because a a deadly shooting back in 2023, uh tied to Interstate 45. Uh, apparently, this shooting from three years ago has now been tied by federal authorities to a Houston biker gang war in this racketeering case. Uh, just again, a reminder that this is the sort of thing that lawlessness creates. We'll talk about it when we get back from the break. Text in 713-779-5978. One more time. That is 713-779-KYST. You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. And Lord willing, I'll return right after the break.

SPEAKER_07

If you are of Medicare AIDS or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Biker Gang Shootings And Racketeering

SPEAKER_16

Now let's kick it off talking a little bit about this shooting rampage that killed three bikers back in 2023, which is apparently the work of the Homitos Outlaw Motorcycle Club and appears connected to a motorcycle gang war that raged across the Houston area for years, according to a federal criminal charging document filed in Houston late last week. He's among a group of Homidos members who in 2023 were accused of participating in a 2020 assault on a motorcycle club at the Sterling Banquet Hall in Houston. And of course, the new information expands the indictment to include other crimes, including a series of highway shootings in April of 2023. And so you have a motorcyclist name was William Kennison, who was shot while riding north on I-45 in spring. He died. About an hour later, in forty miles north, three more motorcyclists were shot on the highway or near the statue of Sam Houston outside Huntsville. Two of the men died, Andrew Cole and Ramira Sosa. Authorities were quick to say that they believed the shootings were connected to motorcycle gangs. And so Gomez is alleged to have been among a group of biker vest wearing comidos who shot down Kinnyson, Cole, and Sosa. He's accused of brandishing a gun during the killings and helped dispose of the firearms that were used. He's also accused of participating in a meeting where the Homidos discussed keeping information about the shooting secret. So the charges argue that the shooting and other assaults are part of an effort to expand the gang's power, territory, reputation, and property. And so the Homidos attack on the three Banditos came during what the FBI has described as a biker gang war that was being fought in the Houston area from 2020 to 2024. Last year, you also have the Justice Department, which announced a I think a big indictment against 14 members of a chapter of the Banditos, blaming them for a series of assaults and murders of rival gangs connected to the Brothers East or the Beast Motorcycle Club. Until this past week's filing about Gomez, there had been little confirmation about the other side. And so uh th this has been ongoing in the Usen area for years now. And this is a reminder, right? We want to talk about banning Sharia law. It's not just Sur Sharia law, by the way. There are numerous instances where you have people that skirt state and federal law and they do evil things, and often they get away with it. Um Under some guise of, well, we're just friends, we're just a group of guys hanging out. W whatever the justification is happens, frankly, all the time uh with any sort of cult mentality. And if we're gonna function as a civilization, this sort of it really is like tribal warlordism, where where you have people they're functioning like we're in a third world. Uh where you this is I want to make this clear. America is not Mexico, right? America is not, and I know El Salvador's gotten better, but America is not El Salvador or Venezuela. We're actually a first world country, unlike many of our southern neighbors. Part of that means we're not gonna tolerate this sort of tribalism, right? Where where you get you you get these in groups where then they start fighting with other in-groups, right? We don't want the blood, the girls, we don't want trend Aragua in our in our midst. No, actually, we want to get as far away from that as possible. And so it is very important that every single person involved in this is charged and that we, again, continue to set examples of what the justice system is going to look like moving forward, which is hopefully all things considered, what the Justice Department looks like is justice. That's certainly my preference. I know it's in the name. You'd expect that it's just known that that's what the justice system does is, you know, pursue justice. Uh, unfortunately, that's been a little lackluster for the past couple of decades. So hopefully we're gonna see a major shift on that side of things. With that being said, to wrap up the first hour of the show, we're gonna go over the weather. Of course, you guys are probably well aware we got a pretty rainy day this weekend. Uh we'll go over that uh as well as what we expect coming out of today and the rest of this week when we get back from the break. As always, text in 713-779-5978. That's 713-779-KYST. Weather Outlook For The Week

SPEAKER_16

So Houston saw its rainiest day since October over the weekend as storms continued to drop, I think more than two inches of rain across parts of Southeast Texas. But uh Bish Bush Intergunital Airport, which of course is the official climate observation site for the Houston area, recorded 2.29 inches of rain Saturday, setting a record for that date, and marking the first time since October the city has received at least two inches of rain in a single day. The soaking rain offered, of course, a much needed relief for the drought conditions we've been experiencing down here in southeast Texas. More showers and thunderstorms are possible this week. Let's talk about it. We're expected to stay warm and humid to kick off the week today as you have southerly winds returning before the potential, you know, upcoming system. Temperatures today are expected to climb into the upper 70s and low eighties, with breezy conditions, plenty of moisture in the air. The added humidity could spark isolated showers this afternoon. Again, that's that's most neighborhoods are not going to get anything. That's a very small chance, but it can't be ruled out because the conditions are there to get some droplets across across the area. A stronger upper level storm system is going to move into Texas tomorrow, increasing the chances for widespread showers and potential thunderstorms. The most active period is supposed to arrive or expected to arrive Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning as the system pushes east across the state. Now, storms could organize into a line ahead of our next cold front, while the overall atmospheric setup on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning is not ideal for strong storms. Uh a few gusty thunderstorms could occur. Once storms clear out early Wednesday behind the cold front, the bigger story is going to be the sharp temperature change. Um we're gonna go from you know the upper 70s, low eighties today to let's say Thursday, the coolest day of the week, when the highs may reach only the sixties and very low seventies, which is not that uh you know irregular for this period of March. Uh but especially given that it's recently been warm, that's a change. The chilliest weather again is you have to Thursday morning. I think they're they're gonna start with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s. Uh though to be clear, as we wrap up the weather, that's not gonna last very long. By the weekend, we're expected to be back again up in the eighties. Uh, and we'll have some other chances for some drops in temperatures throughout the month. But that's we're gonna s we' our our baseline is gonna be the eighties. That'll do for the first time of the show. When we get back, we're gonna have Medicare Monday with Justin White from Senior Health Services. Text in 713-779-5978. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and I'll be back at the top of the next hour.

SPEAKER_15

From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.

SPEAKER_21

I'm offended. Let's all be offended.

SPEAKER_16

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Textellant AC Service. And welcome back to Medicare Mondays with Justin White from Senior Health Services. Welcome to the show, Justin. Hey, man. Good morning, Michael. Good morning, everyone. Good morning. It is good to have you on here. And I want to kick it off by jumping into, of course, there's always changes in every industry, but especially here when it's, you know, you got the government involved. You never know what's coming. And one of the things I want to talk about are these reimbursement rates, uh, which of course are going to change by my minor numbers every year based on certain criteria and conditions. Uh, can you give us some background on these reimbursement rates and what we have going on now on this side of things?

SPEAKER_08

Absolutely. Early every year, Medicare comes in and tells all the carriers, the insurance companies, um, you know, what they're gonna do with their reimbursement rates. And the carriers always expect it to be higher. You know, they raise the money that they give the carriers every year to keep up with inflation and the rising health care costs and things like that. And uh this year, I believe it was late January when they actually announced it uh the number that was put forth by CMS, the CMS for Medicare and Medicaid Services, was an increase of point zero nine percent, which was basically just flattered and flattered, and all the carriers were expecting and needing 50%. And when you look at the numbers involved in Medicare, that is an enormous union of difference between what was actually proposed and what they're gonna give, and what you know, and what they were actually needing. So that's what that's what's in the mix right now, and I will tell you, and I've talked to the carriers, I've talked to these guys, the people that make these decisions about plan design, and they say, you know, if we only get.09%, it said buckle up, it's it's gonna get ugly. So uh they're they're renegotiating and trying to get something done, and we just gotta hope they get back and get a and get more than that, so they can continue to operate their plans in somewhat similar fashion as to the way that they look today.

SPEAKER_16

Right. And so I'm gonna go two directions with this. The first is I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that uh you you mentioned that it's usually positive, usually good for the carriers, so that it incentivizes these good policies in Medicare. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that 0.09% is not your typical reimbursement rate.

SPEAKER_08

No, no, as a matter of fact, last year it was five point nine percent. Right. And so they were expecting that again. And uh you know, and everybody knows the government is woefully in debt and and cannot just can't do anything without spending their faces off every time they turn around. But you know, but yeah, 0.9 is like it caught everybody totally off guard, to be sure.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah, it's in an absolutely wild shift, especially again given the former years and what people were expecting, um, which should tell everybody be careful expecting things from the government when you got them last year. The other, the other part of this that I want to mention, because I'm sure a lot of people are thinking, okay, reimbursement rates, all this sort of stuff, how does that impact me? What does that mean for my plan? What does that mean for what's going to happen when you know coverage changes? What are what are your thoughts on, of course, these are obviously impacting the carriers. How does this carry over then to people's plans?

Medicare Mondays: CMS Reimbursement Shock

SPEAKER_08

Oh, big time. And by the way, Milo, I misspoke a second ago. I said 0.9, it's 0.09. It's less than a tenth of a percent of an increase. So, um, yeah, so I mean, basically, if they if they don't give them more money, because healthcare inflation, along with general inflation, as we all know, even in spite of so-called inflation reduction, it's driving much of this, by the way, um, even with that, um, you know, they're not gonna get enough money to even maintain what they have. So we were told the the CEO of a plant of a gigantic company in the plane design that if they get if they get there, they're gonna have to go and take the calculator and they're gonna have to go back into the plan and adjust them fairly radically. And everybody listening to this may go, well, my plan has already adjusted radically or you know, or was canceled entirely, you know, over the last couple of years. And I know that's what I'm saying. There's another salvo, unless they get CMS to bend and give them some more money, at least amend it, um, it it could be it could be ugly. We were told for the last two years, let's just get to 2026 and it should level off after that. Well, we've got at least one more bad year, and based on the rhetoric that I'm hearing, you know, this one may be the most challenging of all.

SPEAKER_16

Right. That's why it's always a good reminder that very few people actually hit rock bottom. And if you think you're there, you can always be surprised that you're actually not at rock bottom and things can go lower. If you ever think you made it to the bottom, you find out, wait, that was just like a an overhang near the bottom, and I have another cliff to fall down. Um and that's what's coming up. Yeah. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_08

No, no, I just I hope that I you know, you I think your analogy is very appropriate, and I hope that's not the case because everybody wants to take a little breather and be able to be able to be able to count on their plan, but uh but we're just yeah, we're just it's just crazy times, Michael, and everybody listening to this knows that that is absolutely the truth.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah, and that means two things. First and foremost, uh, I want to highlight again this is the proposed number, right? So this is not the finalized approved, this is what's going to happen, right?

SPEAKER_08

That is exactly right. They're in negotiations. I I believe the final decision is due sometime in April. But again, my buddy at this company said uh he said, well, he said we need five to six percent, and he said, So if they come back and they raise it from 0.09 to 2 or 3 or whatever, he says we're still way, way far away from what we need given the utilization and given current situations. So anyway, so we just we just try to keep our eyes on it, and folks, we just want to make sure we know this isn't the greatest news for you. But uh this is the kind of stuff you can expect from senior health services. We're we're gonna tell you the straight scoop, whether it's good, bad, or ugly, so you guys have a chance to react to it and figure out how to plan to uh what your response is gonna be and and at least give you an idea of a way to of a way to plan, is I guess is the best way I can say it.

SPEAKER_16

Yeah, and so that's the second place I was gonna go with this was to point out, you know, it's great to have an organization like Senior Services on your side in a good year, uh, who can negotiate the best things for you, find you the best plan, and everything's working out in good. It is equally as important when things are bad. Because when things are bad, you need to salvage everything you can, and especially when things are you know, when things are good, uh, even if you don't have somebody behind you, maybe you'll you'll still end up in a pretty good plan because things are just good. Uh, and so you feel pretty comfortable. When things get kind of dicey and a little more difficult to navigate, I think it's even more important that people have someone on their side who's saying, we're gonna do the very best we can with a bad situation.

SPEAKER_08

Right. And so I think that's exactly right. I think that's exactly right. And one of the things that's good about this, Michael, honestly, and you know, and this is just a national conversation we've needed to have. In recent years, these plans have gotten out over their seas. They've gotten a little weird where they're giving away food cards and they're giving away, you know, a lot of over-the-counter and things like that. And and you know, and free is certainly is appropriate, and we certainly want to make sure that people have things that they need, but they just got out there and sometimes got a little they just got ridiculous. I mean, there's some of them that would reimburse for pent boarding and and just things like that, and you know, and kind of got away from the definition of what health insurance is supposed to do. And so that is one of the things Medicare's trying to do is get people bumped back into the expectation that when you have a health plan, it's gonna pay on hospital and doctor. Now that anything can go too far, but I think the correction back in that direction to get it to where the the plans are actually covering doctor visits and hospitals and saving money on the the extra stuff just in the name of competition that they had there, just saving money where it's appropriate. I think nationally, I think everybody that's ever managed the budget could at least acknowledge on the surface that some of that is probably fairly smart.

How Cuts Hit Plans And Consumers

SPEAKER_16

Yeah, and it kind of reminds you of when you see the the commercials from, say, phone companies or or internet carriers for your phone data plans. And and they say, and if you go with us, we'll give you free streaming packages and this money for trips. And you're like, well, how about I just make sure I get good data? That's that's that's actually what I want. Um it's great that you're offering this. That's a very good example. Yes, that's a very good example. And so everybody, if you're listening and you're hearing, you know, point zero nine percent, that could change. But regardless of whether it changes or not, you need to have someone in your corner that is going to have your back and going to take care of you as best they can, even if it's a bad situation or a good situation. And you can go to senior health services.com or you can call at 281-894-7540 for a free, and I mean free, consultation. Again, that is 281-894-7540. This has been Medicare Monday with Justin White from Senior Health Services. Justin, as always, I want to thank you so much for giving us your time here bright and early Monday morning. I know it feels even earlier than it actually is because of the time changed this weekend, so I appreciate you coming on and giving us your time. Absolutely my pleasure as always, Michael, and thanks to you and your listeners. Of course. And Lord willing, we'll talk to you again, Justin, next Monday. You got it. See you then. With that being said, I want to highlight one one final time here. That is senior health services.com, or you can call 281-894-7540. And we've had Justin on for a long enough time. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna speak for Senior Health Services, but I will say, as they highlight, you don't pay a dime to them, right? All of their stuff comes as a repayment from the from the government for their operations. And so they're not incentivized to convince you to do something, right? That that they're not coming in and trying to be salespeople saying, oh, you gotta come with us. Right? They're not the people, and we've you know, we play the commercials, we talk about it. They're not dialing your phone every day, giving out your phone number to other people where you're getting all these spam calls. I know that that's uh a big concern, unfortunately, in the Medicare industry. I think that also needs to be legally hampered down on. That's not what you're getting with senior health services. We've highlighted this, you know, this is why we like we love being a local station. I know there's a lot of national stations, and I'm not going after them and saying that's bad and all these national advertisers. But if you listen to our ads, right, if you listen to our ad breaks and what's running on the station a lot of the time, you might start to notice that there's a pattern that a lot of these businesses are local to the Houston area. That doesn't mean that they don't have online operations that can service people that live in Dallas or San Antonio or even in another state if you're listening from another state. I know we have some listeners from out of state. That doesn't mean that they don't service those areas, but you know that you're getting a local company. And I know in especially an increasingly digital age, it's kind of the expectation that you're gonna talk to somebody from the third world when you call a customer service line. And we like partnering with people and and working alongside people where that's not the case, where you call and you not only get somebody that speaks English as a first language, but you're also getting people uh who are in your local area who know the kind of things that you're facing, uh, who can even have face-to-face meetings if that's what you're looking for, and who are available to actually physically meet with you and have those conversations, get to know you. And so Senior Health Services is right on that same note, uh, very localized. They're very invested in the people in the Houston area. They want to make sure that you're taken care of and that you're you know looked after. And that's not, you know, just for them to make a pretty penny, you know, charging you whatever for your time. That's why they offer the free consultation and and they want to do their best to help you. And in a lot of in a lot of years, you know, that means you might even get more benefits. In some years, that means getting what you can out of it, getting the best you can out of a bad situation. And of course, you know, I I can't leave it without my political side wants to point out you you know, the left elected Biden. They loved the Inflation Reduction Act. As Joe Biden has admitted himself, maybe should have been named something different. Right. And I know the left is going to want to blame Trump for all the cuts. You know what happens when you blow out the budget and you just say, We're going to spend all this money. But the next president can handle it. I mean, John Whitmeyer's come out before and said, you know how many mayors in Houston have looked at all these issues and said the next guy'll handle it. And before you know it, it's all piled up and it's all on him. And he was he's sitting there saying, We're having to choose between a balanced budget and water supply. And I'm getting the I'm getting called out for it because of course it's happening under my tenure. But we can look at the past 15 years to see why all this is happening. Same thing is true right now in America, right? It turns out actions have consequences. Sometimes those consequences do not end at the next president's inauguration. Sometimes it takes years, which is why I've been very patient about mass deportations as well. I've said the same thing. You know, you gotta you gotta be patient because a lot of what's happening required massive infrastructure and structural changes to the way that operations are carried out. Things were drastically shifted under certain administrations. And so the same thing is true in the Medicare industry. Things will change year over year. Hopefully that number is negotiated. Things might change. Again, they have until April for those changes to take effect and actually finalize a policy. But if you're looking for help and you're saying, I might be concerned, regardless of what happens, my plan might change again, and I don't know what to do. Senior Health Services will be there. Again, that's senior health services.com or calling at 281-894-7540. And I'd highly encourage you to do that if you're if you're even remotely concerned, give them a call. They'd be happy to look at your case and help you out. With that being said, when we get back from the break, and the next thing we're talking about, Montgomery County, because three people have now been arrested and accused of possessing drugs and identifying documents of a person unrelated to the case. We'll talk about the details of that investigation when we get back from the break. As always, if you would like to text into the show, right? And you can do that for a variety of reasons, whatever your heart desires. If you have a disagreement on something that I've said, you said, Michael, I don't think you're looking at this the right way, text in. I'm open to learning something new. If you have a story, something that you read or came across, it doesn't have to be even new. It can be something that I just didn't report on a month ago. Feel free to let me know about it. If that's something that you're interested in hearing my opinion on and getting a position on that, you could always text in at any point during the show at 713-779-5978. One more time, to be clear. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Don't go anywhere, because right after this short ad break, we're going to talk about Montgomery County and the three people arrested with these drug possession charges. Stick around. We'll talk soon.

Why Local, Trustworthy Medicare Help Matters

Montgomery County Drug And ID Theft Arrests

SPEAKER_16

So from Montgomery County, they're having issues. Preaching three deputies in Montgomery County arrested three people late last week after they were allegedly found to be in possession of multiple drugs, as well as identifying documents and credit cards of an unrelated elderly person. Someone that was like not a grandparent, not someone connected to the drug charges. So they find all these drugs and they also find all these credit card information and identifying documents about this random old person. And so the arrests happened, of course, late last week when a deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle pulling into the parking lot of a closed business. The deputy approached the vehicle after noticing multiple individuals parked near a dumpster on the property. During the encounter, the deputy noticed behavior consistent with individuals being under the influence of narcotics. The subjects were detained for safety while an investigation was conducted. One of the individuals, Mason Lee Pittman, was found to have an active warrant out for his arrest, which you know, again, I I give PSAs, and this is not to help criminals evade the police, right? That's not what this is for. It's just to highlight again how dumb criminals actually are. The criminals, I I know that if you grow up on fiction, you get this, I don't want to say like glorious version of criminality, but you almost get this skewed reality where you think that that Oceans 11 is the norm. You're like watching the Oceans movies, you're like, yeah, criminals. And it's not like good, you're like impressive. Bare minimum, it's like I'm impressed by your evil, right? But no, that is actually not usually the case with criminals. In like 99% of cases we report on minimum, I'm giving 99% because I don't like to ever give 100% guarantees. Maybe I'll go 99.9%. Criminals are just about the dumbest people on the face of the planet. I know, like you watch Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad. You watch any of these criminal TV shows or movies, you should this is another reason why you should never watch a movie and walk away thinking that you just learned something about real life. Because that is not the way that drug operators operate, right? It is not intelligently designed and like it's not well done like that at all. In many cases, you've got a warrant out for your arrest, right? Now, I'm not saying, you know, if it were me, but if it were me, right? If it were me, right, and I I had a warrant out for my arrest, I would be if I was, if I was the kind of person that did not want to face the courts and did not want to be arrested, and did not want to face whatever the criminal charges were that I was being charged with, that's when you start thinking, okay, how can I make sure to now stay completely off radar? How can I make sure maybe I'll move to another state, just start working at a random coffee shop for for money, whatever it is, I'm gonna make sure that I don't get caught. No, instead, you know what, I'm gonna stay in the same area, just not show up for the active warrant, and then and then I'm also gonna participate in drug deals and and and getting intoxicated. And there's a police officer right there, by the way. I I mean it's it's again, it's just the dumbest people you've ever seen. These are not bright, intelligent people, which is why, largely, like again, you watch the oceans movies. The reason I bring this up, you watch the oceans movies, and one of the reasons why people have a skewed version of how justice works is that the people in a lot of these films or TV shows, justice won't stop them because they have a an idea that, oh, I can get away with this, I'll figure it out, I'll fix what I did wrong, right? I I know I can I can do it better. Most run-of-the-mill criminals, like this guy, like these people involved in this, are not like that. And that's why punishment actually works very well for the vast majority of criminals. Because the only thing driving them in terms of the willingness to commit crime is that they think they can get away with it. When they find out one day, actually, you can't get away with it, and when you get caught, the repercussions are going to be harsh. All of a sudden, I think criminality would be far less appealing to many of these people. They live in this utopian world where you can do whatever you want and get away with it, and there's nothing that that is so far shown them otherwise. And so they feel, oh, I can just do this thing and I'll be totally fine, totally all right. And uh, we have to make it very clear to every single criminal in the US that it's not true. That's exactly what El Salvador did. You guys might remember growing up, I was told El Salvador is like the unsafest place in the world, it's like the highest homicide rate of any country ever. And now they're literally safer per capita than the US. You're far likely to get a crime committed against you than if you're in the United States. Because you know what? The main thing they did was was they just they just went after criminals. They just said, hey, you're a criminal, you're gonna face partial percussions for committing crimes. And so a search of the vehicle in this particular case revealed multiple substances, illegal narcotics, like fentanyl, methamphetamine, xanax, marijuana, and tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the active, it's a psychoactive ingredient in weed in marijuana. It's called THC. You've probably heard of it. Deputies also identified or located identification, credit cards, and personal documents belonging to an elderly individual who was not present and had no confirmed association with the detained suspects, making it almost appear like maybe they stole credit card info and identifying documents from someone elderly. Along with Pittman, you also had Norman Seguira and Chloe Denise Fields also arrested. All three are charged with possession of possession of a controlled substance and possession of identifying information of an elderly individual. And they said that additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues. Usually, if you have people who are driving, and I'm not I'm not, you know, gonna make claims about you know the homeless and and whatever, usually if you have, you know, ownership of vehicles and you're able to get around, most of the time that's not consistent with mere drug addicts. Oftentimes, especially if you have the the contents these people had, which is more than just a little bit of one particular drug, it would garner maybe a potential investigation into the ability to sell those substances. Maybe the the not only possession, uh, but but intent to distribute. We don't know that that's just my speculation coming out. Uh, but I wanted to highlight again, this is happening, right? You you you think that the fentanyl crisis is over just because the border's closed. No, the cartel's still operating. You still have people trafficking drugs into the US. It's still happening. And uh when it comes to drug possession, uh especially if the investigation does conclude that there is some sort of distribute to an intent to distribute, whatever that looks like, these need to have harsh repercussions attached to them. Drugs are one of the main blights on American culture. Uh they have destroyed states, cities, counties, uh general geographical locations, families, uh, children. So many people, their lives have been absolutely destroyed by drugs, right? And drugs are one of the main things that, relatively speaking, is pretty easy to deal with. I know they said the war on drugs, but they didn't actually have a war on drugs. I always hate that terminology, because an actual war on drugs means that you're willing to actually go to bat and you're actually able to hand out strict justice for the crimes that have been committed, and they've never actually done that. Um until the moment where you look at a place like Singapore where they have actual repercussions for drugs, and wouldn't you know it, as a result, they have very low drugs and very low homeless populations. Until we actually do that and we say we're gonna offer these sorts of justice responses to these sorts of crimes, things are gonna continue to happen like this. You're gonna continue to have mass amounts of drugs in people's systems in their cars. It's gonna, you're gonna continue having drug dealers making a pretty penny off of the suffering of other people. And we've got to get that under control. If we want to fix the drug epidemic, if we want to actually have a war on drugs, if we actually want to fix the homelessness crisis, all that's gonna come. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and talk about a Houston mother who is now been convicted, not charged with, convicted of the capital murder of dropping her infant daughter from the balcony of a Galveston hotel, uh, which of course dives into how disordered you have to be. One of the main priorities of a mother, and I'm sure we I know we have a lot of mothers listening. One of your main priorities and jobs, and you you know this, the moment you have a child, or probably before, you get this innate sense. Yeah, my main job now is the protection of that baby. And when that's not the case, or it's the exact opposite, you start questioning what's what's wrong with that person? Text in 713-779-5978. That's 713-779-KYST. I'm yours, Michael Wilson. You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Talk more about that conviction after the break.

SPEAKER_07

If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Drugs, Deterrence, And Public Safety

Galveston Infant Murder Conviction

SPEAKER_16

So a Houston mother was convicted of capital murder on Friday for dropping her one-year-old daughter off a third-story hotel balcony near the Galveston Seawall back in 2024. Channel Yanko, 31 years old, Houston, was found guilty of capital murder of a person under the age of 10 after a three-day jury trial in Galveston County. She was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole after prosecutors last year decided not to pursue the death penalty, which I I can't imagine why that's the case. I I really can't. I understand that there are some cases where you look and you're like, I don't know if that's worthy of death penalty. I know you shot this guy, I know you, you know, you committed this sexual assault, but I think jail time is better served. I think it's a dumb argument. I don't think it's logical. I think it's that same issue we were talking about earlier where it's, well, that wouldn't make me feel good, right? That sort of stuff. What I certainly do not understand is this case. If if there was anything at all that justified capital punishment, we would understand that it's capital murder. Right? We we all get that. If there is anything worthy of the difficulty whatsoever, capital murder tippy tops the list, right? And right next to it is also like pedophilia, right? Like those are up there. But our legal system right now does not punish pedophiles the way they should be put punished. I I was, you know, hanging out with friends yesterday and one of our close friends showed me a photo of a shirt that I'm probably gonna end up buying. It says dead pedophiles don't re-offend, um, which is not only hilarious, but also actually true. Um if if you you know, the number one way if you don't want a criminal to re-offend is to execute the criminal, especially when they commit crimes like this one. And so if there is ever an argument to be made for capital punishment whatsoever, it's capital murder. That's the whole point of capital murder, is that it can receive capital punishment for the crime you committed. You throw in there that it's capital murder on your infant, on your baby, right? Not just a baby, your baby. You you've got three different things going on. Capital murder of a child who's yours. If if there were any such thing as an instance where someone is completely crazy and incapable of of ever being like able to be brought back into society whatsoever, this would be ample evidence of it. And instead, we're taking a 31-year-old woman, who by the way, I don't know what the average lifespan for a woman is. Let's say 75. I'll even go 71. Forty years she's going to live in prison. Right? Just to be clear, we spend$33,000 a year. We're going to spend again millions of dollars housing feeding this woman. And for what? We now, we now she murdered her child. She murdered a child. And our response is, you know what? It's a good idea to pay millions of dollars to keep this woman alive. That's a you know what? That's a great idea. That's the best our justice system can concoct out of this scenario. And so her 17 month her 17-month-old daughter, Hannah, was found critically injured on October 23rd of 2024 on a sidewalk near the Galveston Seawall and died after being rushed to Galveston's University of Texas Medical Branch. She was arrested after police found her distraught and crying not far from the hotel. She's Romanian. She was stressed and was paranoid that her family, which practiced and believed in witchcraft, had cursed her. Hannah's father testified about that during the trial. Prosecutors told jurors that Yanko stabbed Hannah the day before her death because the woman was following a blood-letting ritual she learned as part of the Romanian culture, Romani culture. Dr. Edward Gripen, a forensic psychiatrist who evaluated Yanko before the trial, testified that Yanko had told him she'd stabbed Hannah three times to release her from demonic possession before throwing her off the balcony to send her to heaven and free her from her torment. Gripen testified that he had diagnosed Yanko with untreated major depressive disorder that may have evolved into psychosis. Investigators also found a trash bag containing a keycard, toys, diapers, and kids snacked in a trash bin at the hotel's parking garage, which of course matched the room she was in. The trash bag also contained a skinning knife. Camera footage paired to show Hannah falling from the third floor of the hotel, landing in the grass, and rolling to the sidewalk where she was found. Yonko has a short criminal history, according to public records. She was arrested in 2012 for charges of stealing more than fifty dollars worth of clothes and cupcakes from a store, and was sent to three days in jail for that after pleading guilty. But again, I want to go two directions with this particular story. Because there's two different things we need to take away. The first, since we've already kind of gone into it, is that I I know that again, we have produced a culture of empathy. I I understand that. And we live in a time where, well, she's she's look at her family life, right? Look at what she came from, right? Her family probably admittedly does practice witchcraft. And by the way, I'm not gonna play this secular game where I pretend that witchcraft isn't real. Right? That it certainly is. There are actual witches. Uh I listened to an episode of the Michael Knowles show yet on uh a former witch from New Orleans. And you you can find out pretty quickly that a lot of this stuff actually is real, right? When you go, there are certainly some fake ones, right? But there are plenty of people participating in demonic sort of magic, we'll call it magic, that that is certainly real. It is certainly possible to converse with demons and to gain a level of knowledge or power or whatever from the demonic. That that is that is true. Um, but regardless of whether or not they were actual witches or whatever, it's kind of irrelevant. It's obvious that that sort of home life has sort of turned her crazy. And I I I don't think I don't think I need a psychiatrist to tell me that she has depression and may have devolved into psychosis. I think that's just evident from what happened and her claims and her husband's claims. I think it's obvious that's what happened. I don't need some medical forensic guy to tell us that. We we can tell just by hearing the news. What we have to understand is that what it whether you want to call it mental instability, craziness, loony bin behavior, whatever you want to use to describe that sort of setup, it does not necessitate a lack of justice. I know how many cases there are where someone pleads not guilty by reason of insanity and they get put in some sort of mental facility or they see a psychiatrist or or whatever the case may dictate, and they get off basically scot-free. Right? There was a guy, I think it was Dallas, where he murdered a six-year-old boy for uh nothing. I mean, it was like a robbery where the guy broke into this house and then beat the boy, bashed his head, I think it was with a baseball bat, and he pleaded insanity and the judge had to reduce sentence. They're like, ah, we don't want to give him that long because clearly he's got crazy mental issues. And so they gave him like 12 years and then he got parole after half the time of served. He got out in like six years, got out, back back in society again, after bashing in a six-year-old's head and killing him. And we have to realize that mental issues are not only not a justification for justice, but perhaps even an identifying factor that it needs to happen all the more. Because if you're if you're actually crazy and you're incapable of participating in society, you're you you just you just would argue that you have no capability to understand your actions or to be held accountable for them, it's even more important that we make sure, yeah, you then you can never be in society again. And especially when the charges are things like murder, capital murder, all these sorts of things. Well, it's easy, or it should be very simple, to turn and say, Yeah, capital punishment, the death penalty is certainly the response. The other part of this, and it kind of goes alongside the crazy line, but I I want to use this as an opportunity to highlight how devolved our culture has gotten when it comes to family units. And this has been done by intense indoctrination into believing that the public school is raising your kids and femininity is bad, right? Feminism actually ultimately does claim that femininity is bad, just as it claims that masculinity is bad. But all these claims that families, nuclear families are evil, you shouldn't have kids, femininity is bad, masculinity is bad, family units are bad, motherly intuition and instincts are bad, all of this sort of stuff going after families, because of course, if you can destroy the family unit, that's what makes up homes make up culture. And if you can get rid of the homes part, you you have much less fight ahead of you to shift the culture to the left. And so they have dis they have desired for many years to completely void out the importance of both mothers and fathers in their respective roles and and ordained areas of expertise. That has been done intentionally and largely it has been wildly successful. The number of mothers who don't understand basic nurturing tendencies, who are able to just go get an abortion. And I'm not saying that there aren't women who don't have issues and uh who who aren't upset about getting abortions, but there are many who do not. There are there are plenty of women out there who will advertise on social media. I'm so excited, it's the anniversary of my fifth abortion. And you have to look at that and think to yourself how ill you have to be in your heart, how evil you have to be for the things that you were designed to do to be completely non-existent. Right? And as I pointed out, not only do we have given roles as men and women, but interestingly enough, the creator of the universe who gave us those roles also created us intact with the ability to perform them. Right? It's like, oh, a watch. A watch is for telling time. Yeah. And so when a watchmaker makes a watch, he has to make sure it's good at telling time. That's the whole point of making a watch. If God is going to make a man and say these are your roles, and make a woman and say these are your roles, he also made you intact with the specific ability to perform them. We are not biologically or genetically or or mentally the same. Neurologically, we're we differ. And that's good. It's actually beautiful because we're designed for different things. And uh, you know, a father's main roles that he's given the hormones and the body and all these other things to do are the provision and the protection and the leadership of his home. Home under pressure, stronger, you know, better at handling s high levels of stress and all that sort of stuff given to men. Women are inarguably better at order, right? And I don't mean order in the sense of like law and order. I mean order in the sense of, you know, making the home a place that you want to be, at nurturing children, at that sort of, you know, ability to love those kids that way, far more. And this is not, again, or at least should not be controversial. It's very obvious to anyone who's ever met a guy and a girl, right? You have a little kid and you'll find out very quickly this is not just a cultural phenomenon when your your little boy gets a toy car and his first thought is Mad Max and he hasn't even seen Mad Max, he's like, No, I just got a Hot Wheels car. Where's another car I can ram it into? All right, it's like immediate destruction. You get a you give a little girl a car and she gives the car a hug and wants to tuck it into bed. And you're immediately realizing the main difference between men and women and boys and girls. Those differences exist. And so when you see a woman who not only is is not the primary nurturer of her child, but is willing to murder her child, you can call it by nature of psychosis or whatever you want. Two things are true. One, our culture has completely dehumanized people and taken away their God-given roles and justified this sort of evil. And we don't give true justice by by the taxpayers now having to fork out millions of dollars rather than execute someone who committed a heinous evil. We again are solidifying that we don't actually care about justice. We we just care about what feels the best. With that being said, when we get back from the break to wrap up the show this morning, we're gonna talk a little bit about this murder suspect, um, who they want to say, well, it's just a case of misplaced paperwork and timing, timing issues and all this sort of stuff. This guy had been arrested and charged in a murder, found out he had just been released on bond. Again, highlighting the issues with our system in general. We'll wrap up the show with that when we get back. If you'd like to text in, this is gonna be your last opportunity during the show. I might, I might see you during the last segment, but you're taking a real gamble. If you text during the break, I will certainly see it and reply. You can text in at 713-779-5978. One more time. It was confirmed that the suspect had actually been released on bond hours before the murder charge was officially filed. A Houston Police Department spokesman confirmed investigators are now working to apprehend 49-year-old Josh Jonah Robinson, who was released from the Harris County jail after posting bond. HPD said the murder investigation was ongoing, and the evidence did not lead to a murder charge being filed until around 9 p.m. that evening. And so despite intense investigative efforts since his arrest, investigators didn't have definitive evidence linking him to the murder until that evening when charges were accepted. That then triggered a series of paperwork that has to process, according to a Harris County attorney's office spokesman. Publicly available court records for the charge was filed, finally filed at 4 15 AM on Friday, and a warrant was then issued for his arrest. And so Andy Kahn of Crime Stoppers said, quote, it's a total cluster. You really can't make out why he's not in custody. When I first saw this, I put it to bed because, all right, goodies in custody. I didn't even look. I was not so pleasantly surprised to find out that wasn't the case. And so, you know, the family found out and were absolutely distraught over the situation, the way that it played out. And again, this is a lot of our problem with the way that our criminal justice system is oriented. It's like criminal first. We want to be America first. They're like criminal first. We gotta let this guy go. We gotta let him out. That's number one priority. Not the safety of everybody, not justice. No, no, no, no, no. You gotta let the guy go. We can't wait 12 hours, we can't wait 24. No, you can't do it. And so I again, I am not on the train that doesn't understand due process. I am very well informed on due process rights, understanding the way that our justice system operates, and I understand that if you've not been charged, you can't stay in custody. At the same time, the only reason it was let out at all is because of slow paperwork, completely unrelated to due process. Uh it was like it was like undue process, basically, is what happened. And this is totally preventable with good district attorneys and good judges, good, good people prosecuting, and and we don't have those things. And and that's why a lot of these elections are so important and and making sure that we have people in those positions who are going to do their job. That'll do it for the show today. Thanks everyone for tuning in. You've been listening to Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Enjoy the rest of our programming today. Lord willing, I'll be back bright and early tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. In the meantime, enjoy your Monday and Godspeed.
