Illegal Immigration And The Cost Of Preventable Tragedy
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A Fort Bend deputy is killed on I-10, the suspect ends up in ICE custody, and we can’t shake the question that follows: how many deaths that could have been prevented by enforcement is “too many”? We work through the uncomfortable logic behind border security, deportation policy, and why the “they’re not criminals” defense doesn’t answer the human cost when tragedy strikes anyway.
Then we turn to a string of stories about public trust and accountability, starting with the Texas Medical Board suspending a Houston physician after disturbing allegations tied to child exploitation. From there we look at how Texas handles punishment, plea deals, and the gap between what the public thinks justice means and what the system often delivers. Culture and education collide too, with Abbott blocking Cesar Chavez Day in Texas and a Katy ISD school board candidate facing scrutiny over explicit social media posts and what they suggest about values and future governance.
The centerpiece is our interview with CD38 Republican runoff candidate Shelley DeZavallos, a pilot and business owner with Trump and Abbott advisory appointments. We ask what “secure the border” looks like in practice, why Congress must codify executive actions, how election integrity fits into the fight, what inflation is doing to Houston families, and how a faith-forward worldview holds up under political pressure.

Welcome And Guest Tease

Hit And Run Sparks A Hard Question
Doctor Arrest And License Suspension
SPEAKER_18Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Texellent AC Service. It is good to be with you this morning, first and foremost. And by the way, we're going to have on uh as we get closer to say the top of the second hour, 7 o'clock, a very, very good interview coming up with a very important guest in a runoff election here in the Houston area. And so you will not want to miss that's a that's a small tease. We'll get into a little bit more of it later in the show, but very, very important conversation we'll be having here on the show here in a little less than an hour. So stick around for that and uh we'll get into it. In the meantime, as we often do, we have quite a few stories to get into this morning. We're gonna kick it off talking about a man who is now in ICE custody after an alleged hit and run that killed a Fort Bend deputy that was helping a driver over on I-10. And originally we had heard uh about this hit and run, and they had said that they were on the lookout and and what and what have you. We hadn't had really any details as to who the suspect was, what had really happened, uh, if there was some sort of intoxication. There are all these sorts of questions surrounding the actual case. And uh this guy who's now been accused in the crime has been arrested by, of course, immigration customs enforcement ICE, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This guy's name, uh, allegedly is Dennis Arguelo Acosta, who was arrested following the death of Fort Bend County deputy Kenneth Lewis, who was struck while assisting a stranded driver on I-10 back on February 21st. Lewis later died from his injuries on February 23rd at a local hospital. Now, Arguello Acosta Acosta, uh, who could now face state charges, was arrested after federal authorities received an anonymous tip regarding his location, according to DHS in a news release that they put out. The Boy Ganning Sheriff's Office described Lewis, who was an 11-year veteran of the department, as the very best of law enforcement. The Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post said his selflessness, dedication, and commitment to serving others reflect the core values of our office and the profession he proudly serves. Served, excuse me. Oh, I hate when I do that. Present tense for someone that's passed away is such a sad thing to do. You kind of feel natural to say serves because sometimes the brain just doesn't catch up with, yeah, the person's gone. Nevertheless, the reason I bring this up is because I wanted to get into a hypothetical. I I wanted to get into this because I've been thinking about it. I was thinking about it enough last night after after I read this story that I was having a hard time getting to sleep. And I I was thinking to myself, you know, the left consistently will come out and they will make all of these grandiose claims. We're okay. Of course, many uh there's some radicals, right? The same as there are, you know, if you go far enough on the right that are like these crazy anarchists who believe there should be no government at all. Uh, if you go far enough on the left, you'll find I I don't you can't even term use the term radical because of course if you're on the left, you're radical by nature of being on the left. If you believe in transgenderism, you're you're radical, definitionally. So I don't even know what category to put the people in I'm about to describe, but they're so far on the left. Uh, you know, I don't mean open borders in the Kamala Harris sense, uh, that they do this wittingly. I mean, I mean they are fully prepared to fight back, to stop the deportation of rapists. And I know some of you are thinking they do that anyways. They do, uh, but they don't admit that. They'll say, well, not all of them are rapists, and we're trying to protect the ones that are just good law-abiding people who are here trying to help their families. But there are some who will actually straight up tell you uh that no one should be deported, including the rapists and the pedophiles and the murderers and the drug dealers, that all people should be should be able to stay here in the country. Except for those people. I'm I'm speaking to the rest of the left in this hypothetical. I'm not I'm not speaking to those people because those people are categorically insane in a way that you can't even approach a realistic conversation. It is impossible. Uh, once you have devolved into that sense of of insanity, it is legitimately impossible to maintain any sort of a coherent conversation with those people. You can't convince them of anything, you certainly can't have a conversation about what's happening. You're on two entirely different wavelengths, it can't be done. But to the rest of the left that considers themselves, or at least tries to consider themselves rational, here's the question I would pose. The hypothetical that I want to get into to start off the show this morning. How many deaths that were entirely preventable is too many? That's a very important question because this death was 100% preventable by nature of the person having should not have by the nature of the fact that the guy should not have been here in the first place. This would never have happened had we had a border that was protected, had this guy not been allowed into the country. And so in that way, the death was entirely preventable. And so my question would be right, because I'm I'm sure DHS probably would have released if this guy had been charged in other things, who had been convicted of other crimes, as far as we're aware right now, uh, as far as we can we can make a guess, the guy, apart from this and from illegal entry in the first place, was not a criminal, right? By by every by every argument, by every metric the left would use, this guy was one of the people that Trump should not have deported, that should have been allowed to stay. And yet his existence in the country led to someone else's death. Probably accidentally, I I I I would I would wager a guess and say he didn't intentionally hit an officer. I mean, we don't know, maybe he did. Uh, but let's let's just for this hypothetical say that he didn't. It was an accident. And so again, it's not this person evil that has this history of violent crime. Uh it's just a guy who was in the country illegally, who who accidentally killed someone. If all of that f you know turns out to be true, holds holds water, if that argument holds water at all, then my question would be are we okay with that happening? And how many times would it have to happen for you to say how many deaths could we stop? Just by nature of saying you're not here legally, you shouldn't be here in the first place. And as a result, this death should never have happened to begin with. How many times does that have to happen before we say, yeah, maybe, just maybe, this could have not happened in the first place? Maybe we should deport everyone who's here illegally. And the reason I bring up that hypothetical is because the left's entire argument hinges on the fact that at the end of the day, you know, illegal immigrants, well, they're not really, you know, they're not committing crimes. They're not dangerous people. And so this argument is for those who would consider themselves rational. Well, this death should not have happened by any American standard. You should never have had this guy in the country, and that officer would still be alive. I know that we, you know, it's the what-ifs, but that that's that's the reality of the situation. And so the reason I bring that up is to point out the the obvious hypocrisy in the left's argumentation, even when they're claiming rationality, even when they're claiming that they're being fully coherent and fully honest, and they're not they're not devolving into craziness, or at least so they say. In those cases, how many times would this have to happen for the left to then go and say, okay, maybe we should have a conversation about not bringing in for people from other countries that drive differently? Uh there's been numerous deaths from immigrants who have been driven have been driving 18-wheelers, who have hit family cars. Uh you've had numerous deaths as a result of those sorts of driving incidents that you could argue were entirely unintentional. It was not intended to you know kill a group of people, but it happened nonetheless. How many times does that have to happen? Or how many times hypothetically would that have to happen for the left to admit that there's a problem that needs to be addressed? How many times? And for the right, that the answer to that question is easy. It's not even one. Because it shouldn't have to be one for us to obviously understand the possible ramifications of having extra people in this country that have different cultural values, different norms, different, you know, I mean, even down to the way that people drive is different here than the way that people drive in other countries. I mean, look no further. You I'm sure you've seen videos of people driving in other countries. The way they drive is actually insane. Uh, and they're not they're not conducive to driving here in America. And so when you look at this case, when you take a peek at it, it becomes very clear very quickly that the left wouldn't have an answer for that question. We don't have a leftist on to defend it, I suppose. And so, you know, I'm I'm preaching to the choir, I'm sure. But the reality is that these sorts of things that are happening, because by nature they are definitionally preventable, are crimes that shouldn't happen, are things that shouldn't happen, are lives that shouldn't be lost, that shouldn't be given up in the pursuit of this uh end goal of the normalization of illegal immigration. They're things that should never occur in the first place. And so why are they happening? And for any leftist that that is thinking to themselves, well, I I am opposed to the crazy people, and I'm opposed to the criminals and the violence and the drugs and the cartel and the gang members and the murderers and the rapists and the pedophiles and the sexual assaulters. I'm opposed to all those people. But I want the normal law-abiding ones who are working a job, trying to provide for their family. I want them to have the opportunity to stay inside the country. I want them to have the option to remain here. For those that would make that argument, how many times would would an accident have to happen for you to say, but that that's still lives that are lost as a result of the policy? And of course, they would probably push back by being, you know, of course, we we we would we would call this being disingenuous by saying, well, that happens all the time. Accidents happen. You can't blame the person for an accident. And to a degree you can, actually. But past that point, my argument would easily be, sure. And if you're an American citizen, there's only so much prevention we can do. But if you're here illegally, the prevention rate could be a hundred percent because we can just get rid of every single one of them. Every single one of them could return to their country and wouldn't pose any threat whatsoever. You would have zero deaths that were entirely preventable by nature of deportations. And the left would not have an answer for that, at least not one that's clear or that's true. Because the reality is that there isn't an answer that's clear and that's true. Because these sorts of cases highlight a very important point that I'm trying to make here, which is at the end of the day, when you look at illegal immigration, every single person that's in this country illegally is to, in one way or another, whether it's a cultural threat, a physical threat, whatever threat it is, poses a threat to American way of life. Undeniably. Every single one. There isn't one that doesn't. And so for everyone that's out there thinking, well, I don't like the crazy ones, but there's ones that work and do these jobs and that aren't aren't interested in in committing other crimes and aren't interested in violence, that doesn't prevent death. You know what would prevent these sorts of deaths? Because they're it and it would be one thing if it had been one in the past ten years. That's simply not the case. This has happened m numerous times just over the past 12 months. We have numerous cases of things like this happening, of vehicular accidents where people have died as a result of drivers who shouldn't have been here in the first place, whether legal or illegal immigrants. And every single one of those cases is preventable by nature of not letting these people into the country or deporting them out of the country before it's too late. Every single instance of it happening was one uh we would have a 100% success rate at the prevention of those sorts of crimes. Why? Because at the end of the day, these people shouldn't have been here to do that crime. And so for anyone out there uh that has bought into the lie that there are normal, relatively law-abiding people that are a part of this group of people that have been allowed to immigrate into this country and remain here and not get deported, despite the fact that they should be, these sorts of things are happening. And you don't have to have violent criminals in order for them to happen in the first place. And so uh this hypothetical just asks how many people does this have to happen would this have to happen to for us to say clearly there's a second issue here, and it's not related to the criminal nature of the people that are here, but the nature of them being here in the first place that contributes to deaths in general. And one American death is one death, too many for us to be willing to even entertain the notion that anyone can stay. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and talk about the Texas Medical Board because the Texas Medical Board uh has now suspended a Houston physician's license uh after his arrest on a charge of child porn possession. Officials say uh that the victim has now also claimed the physician had threatened her since she was 10 years old. Uh just a wild turn of events. We'll see where it goes for him. Of course, there are criminal charges, but we don't have an update on the conviction. It hasn't gone to trial. But the Texas Medical Board has seen enough evidence uh to at least bare minimum suspend his license. So we'll talk all about that when we get back from the break. Cesar Chavez Holiday Gets Scrapped
School Board Candidate Social Media Firestorm
SPEAKER_18So the Texas Medical Board has now suspended the license of a Houston physician, a Houston doctor, following his arrest. Uh Ann Q Van. That's his name, literally. Anne Q Van was arrested for the state charge. Records show he posted an$80,000 bond, has been released from jail, but then was arrested again on federal charges here this month. So far, the FBI has not shared details about what led to the arrest on federal charges. A document for the order of temporary suspension on the Texas Medical Board's website states the investigation started in March of last year when the Houston Police Department received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with a notice that Meta identified a user that appeared to be a child victim. Subsequent investigation determined the victim as a resident of the Philippines. Police contacted the victim by email in November of 2025 and learned she was fifteen years old, though the victim said that this guy, who was now in Houston, had been threatening her since she was 10 years old. The victim told police she had sent nude photos to Van and he had threatened to release them to her friends and family. The document says the victim provided police several images that had been sent to Van as well as screenshots of their communications on Discord. In February, HPD executed a warrant at his home and found an external hard drive hidden in a toilet tank containing over fifty images of child pornography. The National Medical Board found that Van's continued practice of medicine constitutes a continuing threat to the public and suspended his license effective immediately. But what I want to say is in a lot of cases, right, you guys have heard me claim that the right response to a lot of these crimes, a lot of these criminal actions, should be that they are never allowed to do whatever is the thing is that they did again. And when you have government corruption, I've said, well, they should never be able to be in a public capacity ever again. They should be banned from that entirely. And I have no problem saying that. In a lot of cases, you guys know I've preached restitution and manual labor. If you if you stole from people or you caused that sort of harm, the result should be that you're forced to work and pay off maybe two, three times your debt for what you did. I think that's fair for a lot of different cases. So we have things like restitution, uh permanent bans on certain things. We talked about the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. If you're going to Break the dress code, or you're going to behave in the way that we saw over the weekend where they had to close the carnival down because of rights and basically uh fights and stampedes, uh, the result needs to be that those people are permanently banned from ever returning the Houston Livestock Show on Radio. Maybe maybe a 10-year ban, I could be convinced of, but but an extended period where you're not allowed to return to put on a no entry list. But for a crime like this one, I actually don't think a medical suspension is the is the right response. Is it good now? Yeah, of course it's good. Because while the case is ongoing, he should not be allowed to practice medicine. Though of course, I think it would be fair to say uh that our criminal justice system is broken because he should not have been let out on a bond in the first place. This guy should have gone straight to trial and conviction and sentencing. It should have been a rat a relatively quick process, but then he was arrested because they've been conducting this investigation for a year. They've they've been in touch with with all the evidence since November. And now that multiple search warrants have been executed, they have all the evidence they need, uh, basically to prove, if they're going to, to prove in court that he did the things that he's accused of. Now, this is a hypothetical, assuming that all that stuff does go through due process, which we have here in the U.S., thank the Lord. All that stuff goes through the due process, you know, pipeline, and he is formally convicted in a court of law of the crimes of which he's accused. The sentence that he should face should not be restitution. It should not be a permanent, you know, uh suspension, some sort of permanent like expellation from practicing medicine. That will be a side effect of what I'm about to say, I promise you. But the result actually should be capital punishment. Because this sort of crime, and again, you can look back, people will say, well, in history there was never capital punishment for this sort of we didn't have the internet. Okay, we did not have the ability to threaten people over the phone, to to receive nude photos of little girls. Okay, that did not used to happen. That that was not a thing that could happen back when we used to use the death penalty. I can almost guarantee you, back when the death penalty was used as a means to deal with people who committed these sorts of crimes, this would be on the list for those men back then. This this would be one of those things that we'd look at and say, this is a heinous evil, and you can never return to civil society. And we're certainly not gonna put you in prison for the rest of your life. I I have a feeling that the result is gonna be that his medical license is taken away, he's he's expelled, and I have a feeling they're gonna give him, I don't want to say a slap on the wrist, but it's gonna be something like twenty to ten to twenty years in prison. I could be wrong, I'd love to be wrong, but that is certainly a direction I see this going because that's the direction that these sorts of cases consistently seem to go. But it should not be. Instead, this man should receive capital punishment for the crimes he committed. If you're going to receive nude photos from a little girl and then you're gonna threaten her for up to five years through things like extortion, it is a level of evil that should certainly be put to death. It is a level of insanity and ineligibility to participate in American way of life. If you're going to do those things, I don't think there's a single real argument against the death penalty for these sorts of crazy people. Do you do you think it's okay? I mean, do we think that it's acceptable for a man who is willing to enjoy lewd nude photos of and again, I'm not justifying anything, but this is not, you know, I know that sometimes you're like, well, it was a 17-year-old girl or an 18-year-old girl or a 16-whatever it is. This was a little girl. She was 10 years old. And not only did he did he take these photos, but then he threatened to tell her family, he threatened her, he kept her scared for years so that he could receive more, he could continue to I mean it it is it is such a level of graphic evil that I I I can't comprehend a coherent argument that says, no, we can't put him to death for that. Come on, are you crazy? Is that a good use of the death penalty? It certainly is. If anything is, this is. When you're talking about the the manipulation of children in a way like this, I think it's perfectly acceptable to say, yeah, this guy should die for sure. I hope he gets someone should give him the gospel in prison, and then he should be sentenced to death. That that is that is the end goal, that is the end result, that's what we should be pursuing. Now, with that being said, before we go to the break, we do have a couple more stories, and I want to get into one more before we get to the break, and that is this update from Governor Greg Abbott, who has now blocked the annual Cesar Chavez observation in Texas, mainly because uh these revelations of this progressive icon sex crimes have kind of uh Royal Democrats ahead of the observance, which would usually be on March 31st. And Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas will now not observe Cesar Chavez Day this year. And so this guy, of course, was this this socialist union guy, uh, who, of course, the left hailed him as a hero since before his death in 1993. And over the last 30 years since the 33 years since 1993, Democrats have rushed to name schools and streets and whatever else they can after this guy. And his birthday, which again was March 31st, became a federal holiday under Barack Obama back in 2014. Now, the widely reported allegations that Chavez is a pedophile and sex predator have caused even former supporters to walk that back a bit and say, you know what, maybe, maybe this guy was not the hero we all thought he was. And so Abbott uh posted yesterday, quote, the state of Texas will not observe the Cedar Chavez holiday. I'm directing all Texas state agencies' heads to comply. In the upcoming legislative session, I will work with Texas lawmakers to remove Cesar Chavez Day from state law altogether. Reports of the horrific and widely acknowledged sexual assault allegations against Cesar Chavez rightfully dismantled a myth of this progressive hero and undermine the narrative that elevated him as a figure worthy of official state celebration. Uh earlier in the day, by the way, even the Mexican-American Legislative Caucus, the MALC, issued a statement disavowing Chavez, uh, noting that it's prepared to lead efforts to remove the Caesar, the Cesar Chavez state holiday. So even the coalitions that usually would have been supportive uh of this day, that it's a good moment in American history, that we should be supportive, and uh for the sake of diversity, equity, and inclusion, obviously DEI policies, that we should uh we should keep this around, that this guy was a good guy because he did some good things. And uh yet I mean, not that any of us are really too surprised by this these revelations, anyways. I I mean, you you take people that are insane in one way and often they're insane in others. If you if you find out, kind of like this is true of anybody, by the way, if you find out that they largely align in a lot of things, usually you can probably guess the other things they believe in. If you listen to my show and you hear my takes on the guy who possesses child pornography, or you hear my takes on deportations and legal and illegal immigration and and whatever, you could probably make a pretty fair determination for what I think about transgenderism and LGBTQ isms in general. You could probably take a guess and you have uh a very high likelihood of being correct. In similar fashion, when you look at these actual insane people uh that are socialist, take it a step further, they're communist, they're they're Muslims, you can start to make pretty clear determinations about what they believe on other issues. And that doesn't always mean you'll be right, right? You don't want to make too many assumptions and then treat them like facts, but you can usually assume, okay, this guy probably was not a great guy in other arenas of his life as well. And so for us as Christians who can make those sorts of judgment calls, who can do that sort of analysis, we look at this and we say, yeah, that's not a shock. That doesn't come as a surprise to any of us. And so of course we should remove the holiday. The holiday never should have been there in the first place, by the way. That's the thing here is it should have been removed before. There didn't need to be these revelations by nature of the fact that you were anti-American by being socialist. We used to understand that was an anti-American principle, and we could just say that we didn't need these sexual assault and pedophilia accusations. We could just say you were a socialist, therefore not going to be celebrated in American history, I think would have been fine enough. Uh, but especially these revelations, I think it's very clear that if we're gonna celebrate anybody, there are a long list of American heroes worth celebrating. Right? How about we have a Robert E. Lee Day that's an actual observable holiday? I there are so many good men in American history that if anyone was worthy of celebrating for a day, there are plenty of candidates for that. There are plenty of people who I think have been a part of the American way of life that have produced good character, produced good stories, produced good outcomes, who were strong Christian men of faith who did good things. There are so many of those, an uncountable number of them, that are worth celebrating, that if you're going to have a holiday dedicated to a man, are worth them being in that slot. And to give it to someone that was a socialist in general is already bad enough. But now to allow it to stay, given the the extent of what we now know, what's now come out about this guy, I think it's very clear, uh, or it should be at least, that there is absolutely no reason why the state of Texas should continue celebrating this holiday whatsoever. And so I'm I'm glad that Governor Abbott has come out and said this year we're not doing it, we're gonna meet in the next legislative session and we're gonna say we're gonna take it off entirely. It's not even gonna be a thing that we we celebrate whatsoever. I think that's the right direction to go. And as I've said before, holidays matter, culture matters. And so I know there's a lot of people saying, yeah, well, there's other stuff going on that matters. I think this matters too. I think these sorts of cultural wins where we start to say, yeah, we're not gonna celebrate evil people in American culture. Uh, we're not gonna allow this to transpire. We're gonna say that no, what you honor will be the direction you go towards. And if we're gonna honor pedophilic, crazy socialists, then we're gonna get what's coming to us for that. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over because a school board candidate uh here in the Houston area, not in Houston, but in the Houston area, is uh now under fire after a Texas Scorecard put out a report. This is pretty wild, they uncovered this candidate's sexually explicit posts on social media. And of course, he's pushed back and said, no, it's all okay. Don't worry about it, things are fine, but we'll go through what those posts were. I was put onto the story, by the way, by Moms for Liberty, just as a little uh credit to them. Uh they tagged me over on social media in this this post uh where this was all acknowledged. And so we'll talk about what happened and my position on this story. We get back from the break. Text in 713-779-5978. One more time. You can text in at 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and I'll come right back with that story after the break.

SPEAKER_18So screenshots of social media posts from the accounts of David Green, a KD independent school district school board candidate, expressed support for the LGBTQ ideology, with one being sexually explicit. Texas Scorecard contacted the Green campaign after obtaining these screenshots. And in a written statement, Green did not deny that these posts are his. A post dated from August 11th from his Facebook account shared an image that lists 11 statements regarding sex. Among these are masturbation is healthy, sex work is work, pronouns are valid, and sex education is important. In an October 2023 post from his Instagram account, Green wrote about a boy who became the marshal of Orlando Prague. He wrote, Trans girl is youngest ever, living her best life. More posts, of course. I mean, we're not going to go through every single post that he ever made. But another October 2023 post is a picture of a drag queen with Green commenting, Tennessee Republican Republicans keep losing court battles with drag queens. A July 2024 post from an Instagram account is an image of two military men with the caption, Parents. Boys don't play with dolls, they play with army soldiers. Me, 15 years later, it was a girl. A post from December 2025 is of a one-panel comic image where a woman is putting her top over a man's head with him commenting, Wait, the Bible says I shouldn't wear women's clothing, making sex jokes out of biblical standards, because of course that's going to result in your success in life. He also commented, Purity culture sucks. Religion tries to interfere with our sexual lives. Yeah, you know what? Scripture tries to interfere in a lot of your personal problems. That's the point. It condemns sin. Yeah. Yeah, a lot of things you're going to do. I promise you the Bible interferes with. There are a lot of things that evil people would like to do that God says are big no-nos. Shocking, I know, that the holy God of the universe would tell you that your sin is bad. I know that comes as a shock to some people. Green identifies himself as a spiritual leader on his ex account, and on that both there and his Facebook account, he identifies as Reverend Lion David Green. He has written that he's an associate minister at a local church and has deep roots in inclusive community leadership. He said, like many people, I have shared a range uh this is his statement, by the way, where he defended himself to the publication. Like many people, I have shared a range of content on social media over time, going back more than a decade, including humor and commentary on current events. Those posts are not policy positions, and they are not related to the responsibilities of a KDISD trustee. Voters deserve clarity about what this role actually is. School board trustee is responsible for governance. That includes setting policy, adopting a reasonable budget, and holding the superintendent accountable for student outcomes. It does not include regulating personal expression or revisiting years of social media content. He also wrote in his statement that schools should be law abiding, focused on student outcomes, and that no one else should get to parent someone else's child, stating that KDISD parents have full visibility into what the district is teaching and where permitted may remove their child from certain lessons. And so, of course, the school board election for KDISD is set for May 2nd of this year with early voting from April 20th to 28th. Three seats on the school board are on the ballot with Green running for position four in that election. Uh but Moms for Liberty, when they tagged me in this story, something they said is something that I think is totally fair and I think is is exactly my position. And so they go through the article, kind of what it says, and they they post his statement. And this is what the Moms for Liberty Harris County chapter said. While Mr. Green feels that his social media posts are not related to the responsibilities of a KDISD trustee, I would argue that they do reveal his values and character, and they also raise major red flags. And I think that I'm gonna I'm gonna extrapolate on that a bit, but I think that's that's the the common theme of what I'm about to say. And I've said this before, by the way, this is not new. I'm not I'm not coming out and saying this all of a sudden because this case happens to benefit me. I've actually said this for a long time. That and I said this back a lot during the Charlie Kirk assassination time period when you had a lot of these people who were praising it, calling for further violence, saying he got what he deserved. All these sorts of cynical, crazy, evil things were being uttered. And I said, it's not so much that you could say, well, that's not related to the way that I teach. There's anything about Charlie Kirk and the curriculum. I I I'm not gonna make these statements to my students, I'm making them on my my social media pages. Some would even say my students aren't allowed to follow my social media, so they would never see these posts. And my response to that claim was always the same, and it's the same now, which is the things that you post reveal something deep about your character. The claims that you make online, if you believe them, and if you don't believe them, that's another issue. I mean, if you're lying, then we have another concern that we should talk about. But if you believe the claims that you're making, that is indicative of the kind of person that you are. And that kind of person just so happens to also be the kind of person that I don't want in this sort of position. That's the character of a bad person. Same with the teachers who were gleeful over Charlie Kirk's assassination, over Charlie Kirk's murder. I said at the time, I do not want the kind of person who takes joy in this sort of evil to have any sort of responsibility pertaining to children and their education. I don't want you to have any influence over children whatsoever. I don't want you to have any influence at all. And so, in similar fashion, when you read these posts, you can get a pretty good idea of what this guy believes. There was really only one way he could have survived this, I'd argue, and that would have been if he'd decided, yeah, the the latest post I made was back in 2023. That was nearly three years ago. I grew up a lot since then. I got, you know, whatever it is, I got married, I had kids, whatever the claim. And I've completely changed my perspective. I'm happy to answer any questions. Uh I came to, you know, Salvation in Christ, and I realize how wrong I was, and I'm happy to talk with anyone about it. I'll be open and transparent about my beliefs. But saying, yeah, but that's not my policy position. Yeah, but boards of trustees, as it turns out, make a lot of policy decisions in regards to sexually explicit books, in regards to curriculum, in regards to education standards, and all of those things are wrapped up in your ideology, in the things that you believe about other things. And so I would be very cautious to play this word game where we say, Well, I know I posted that and I know I believe those things. Uh but don't you worry, because those things have no relevance to my job as an elected official. That's simply not true. They reveal something very clear about your character and And your ideology, your ideology that make it to anyone that's paying attention very obvious the kind of trustee you're going to be, the kind of things that you believe, the kind of way that you're going to promote policy in your district, right? Look at Austin ISD. The school board people there, they're like, oh, don't worry, that's what it vagued policy. I know that we're now having a separate Pride Week, you know, that we do. And I I know that you think that's crazy and what have you. And but but uh don't worry. It doesn't have any impact on our yes, it does. Because now you're dressing up the schools in the the most un-American, just disgusting stuff that you're forcing kids to pay attention to. You're indoctrinating them, and of course that comes as a result. We should have known based on who you are. And this is very clear of this guy over in KDIST. With that being said, we go after the break. It is now the the bottom of the first hour, which means we'll be going over the weather when we get back. If you'd like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. SPEAKER_04Medicare Medical Justify is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_07If you are of Medicare aid or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that all you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

SPEAKER_13Hi, this is Harold Guy, and this is Bill Olston. Texas Outdoor News is the longest-running, most awarded outdoor radio show in the state for a lot of good reasons. We bring you the latest news and information about hunting and fishing across our great state and beyond.
SPEAKER_11And our guests are Who's Who from industry, government, and the field. Texas Outdoor News is brought to you by Ford Trucks and your best in Texas Ford dealers. The state's number one outdoor radio show, Texas Outdoor News. Saturday morning the 6th on Patriot Talk at 920.
SPEAKER_18So Saturday's record of a hundred of 87 degrees has stood for about 120 years, though as we mentioned yesterday, doesn't matter. Don't get freaked out. Today marks the start of what could be a lengthy stretch of above normal temperatures. Many areas of Southeast Texas dropped into the lower and mid-50s this morning. It's warm and dry as southwesterly winds continue. Afternoon temps today should climb into the lower 80s. Now, although daily temperatures on average peak in the mid-70s this time of year, by tomorrow they could reach the mid-80s. Now, both Saturday and Sunday over the weekend could could bring pretty warm temperatures. Even if Houston doesn't reach 90 degrees for the first time in 2026. Saturday's forecast that I have 89 degrees would still feel pretty warm. I don't think we're gonna be like, oh, it didn't hit 90, so it felt great. It was it's still gonna be 89 degrees. Uh Sunday is high right now, it's predicted at 88 degrees, so not much cooler than Saturday. Um and so Houston is nearing its first 90 degree day, regardless of whether it's this Saturday or not. We're very clearly on the pathway to it being warmer. Which has many wondering, does that mean we're in for a hot spring, hot summer? Uh historically, about only about one in six years of an early first 90-degree day ended up having really warm springs or summers. Um in fact, around 80% of the warmest seasons did not start with an unusually early 90-degree day. So while it could feel like, oh, it's an early warning, it's going to be an especially hot year, that's not a reliable way to determine whether or not it's gonna be warm. It's not a reliable way to say that it won't be especially warm this year. We just don't know. Uh i i it's it's pretty unclear. And so I will say a trend worth paying attention to uh it does show that about one-third to one half of the warmest springs numbers have occurred in just the past 10 years. And so it certainly is probably going to be warm if I had to guess that we just had this heat dune going away or going on right now. And so we'll keep you guys updated on the updates of the weather every single day here on the show. You guys can be prepared, not only for this weekend, but for upcoming weekends, know what the weather's gonna look like, what the summertime's gonna feel like, if we're gonna have any more cool fronts, all that sort of stuff. With that being said, as I mentioned earlier, we're gonna have a very exciting candidate coming on from CD38. That would be Shelly DeZevilis coming on, talking about the runoff that's coming up, uh, her campaign positions, what she believes, why it's important that she win this election, all of that. When we get back from the break, you will not want to miss that interview. In the meantime, if you would like to text into the show, the number is 713-779-5978. One more time. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. I'll be right back with our great guest after the break.
CD38 Runoff Interview With Shelley DeZevilis
SPEAKER_09From deep in the heart of Texas, from Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason. That is the post-star conservative, Michael Wilson.
SPEAKER_18Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative brought to you by Textilent AC Service. I've got a great guest here on the air this morning. She's a pilot, a businesswoman, a Trump appointee, and now she's running for Congress in the CD38 Republican runoff. Shelley DeZevilis, welcome to the show.
SPEAKER_15Well, thank you. I'm very excited to be here. Really appreciate it, Michael. Thank you so much for um the opportunity to talk more about our race, our faith, and our values of C D 38.
SPEAKER_18Absolutely. And without further ado, I kind of want to talk a little bit about that, about your background. Uh, before we get into the race, before we get into the specifics of your campaign and and your voting issues, uh, could you give our listeners who may not know you a kind of quick snapshot of who Shelly Dezevilis is, uh, where you grew up, what's your background, what does that all look like? Because of course I mentioned pilot, businesswoman, trumpet pointy, kind of what what does that all look like together?
SPEAKER_15Well, thank you very much. I appreciate it. First of all, born and raised in the district, I was raised here at Highway 6 and I-10 and have been an active part of the community. Our family business, my dad started it. Woody Leecker started um a flight school in 1967, and then now has the FBO and flight school at West Houston Airport. So um I um um raised my kids here, baptized here, married here, learned to fly, learned to ride a bike here. Um, so I understand a lot of the issues here from flooding infrastructure to criminal and illegal activity to protecting our borders with illegal immigrants. Um, you know, even whenever we flooded here during Harvey was bringing in airplanes and supplies. So um this is our home and um very important to me as a fifth generation Texan, as a native Houstonian uh to represent our district.
SPEAKER_18Right, absolutely. And so I kind of want to move that forward. Um you've you've kind of built all of this. I believe that you were appointed by Trump and Abbott to serve in advisory roles. Can you walk us through what those roles were and the importance of those roles, what you kind of did?
SPEAKER_15Um, well, um it was it's been very um um humbling to have been appointed by both the state and federal levels. And I admire President Trump so much as a business leader and everything that he's done. What happened is um I've been very involved in the aviation industry because that's part of our business, and we're one of the most regulated industries in the world. And sometimes they make mistakes on rules. You and I both know that whether it's local, state, or national levels, there's the law of unintended consequences when somebody says, hey, let's put a regulation here or a law here. And it doesn't always work out for businesses, and it doesn't always work out for safety. Um, what happened is there was an incident that happened um with our um um with the airport ages ago, and I learned a lot more about safety, and I was appointed by Trump to the DOT, his administration to buy the DOT Department of Transportation Safety Oversight Certification Advisory Committee. I know it's called the SOCAC. Leave it to us to aviation industry to to have acronyms. And basically, um it was focusing on the certification of aircraft after the MAC-A crashes, and we wanted to make sure everything was focused on safety, um aviation manufacturing, and just because one company may or may not have made a mistake that those same rules and regulations were to weren't applied to everybody. One thing our country has a tendency to do sometimes is overreact and put in laws that hurt instead of help us.
SPEAKER_18Did you say the Patriot Act? I think that's I think that's something I just heard you say.
SPEAKER_15And that's a perfect example of what happens. I mean, we um why did a good why do good people go punished in our country? I mean, even you know, I am a huge supporter of the Second Amendment. I'm a like uh NRA lifetime member gun owner. And it's like they try to regulate you know guns. And I'm like, this is our right. This is our right to bear arms. And you know, just because this guy did something wrong doesn't mean you should take away my right. And that happens all the time, whether it's um a municipal code or a federal issue. So that's why I got involved and got appointed. I was one of only, I think, 26 people that was appointed to this nationally. And um the Abbott appointment, I've had two appointments with the governor Abbott. Um the first one was as the Texas Airspace and Aviation Committee where we help with economic development, um, workforce development, economic impact bringing in companies that focus on aviation. Um, a lot of great new technologies coming into Texas with advanced air mobility. And then also to the Texas code, which we became um very integral into passing legislation. For example, we put in legislation this last time that had the property equipment, you know, you have to pay property taxes on everything. And one of the things that we've had the taxes on was equipment. And we used to have an exemption, I think it was fifteen hundred dollars and raised it to 125,000. That paid millions and millions of tax um of taxes on businesses and families and and you know, little things like that, making recommendations from people who have walk the walk and talk the talk and are and do pay and sign the payroll and see we're paying more and more in taxes and getting less and less out of it. So um in two completely different roles. It was been it's been very fantastic. Like I said, one on the Texas OG and then one on the aerospace and aviation advisory committee.
SPEAKER_18Right. And then I'm also hearing that you've been pretty deeply involved in Republican grassroots politics uh for something like like over 20 years. What did that kind of look like? What were you doing in the trenches and kind of what has that shown you about about the this is kind of a big question. It's kind of a loaded question, but I believe in you. How did that kind of translate into saying now I need to actually run?
SPEAKER_15Well, um, everybody matters here that uh, you know, as a strong woman of faith and seeing some of the policies that we're putting in place, it's like, how can I make a difference? And so what I started out was um I started out as precinct chair, I started out block walking with um village Republican women in Magic Circle. I started um doing phone banking. When my congressman lost, um, I became a lot more active. My Republican congressman congressman um lost to a Democrat. Um I guess it was probably 10 um years ago. And that I got even more active then because there's a values that your district are about is family values, standing up for what's right. And I said, well, you know what? I as a working it was before I became a mom, but as a working wife, it was very important for me to do what I I could, you know, even after little things, like after I retired, you know, the minimum of 10% of giving to your church after I retired, I if I had extra income, I would donate to Republican candidates. And so I've got a great history, not just donations, but walking um for candidates, believing in the value of electing people that have the same values as I do. So that's where it started. And it and was so much fun. If you haven't done it yet, you I hope you do one day is going to the precinct conventions and senate conventions and state conventions, and you meet a lot of the same people that have the same values as you do. And it's just a great group of folks getting involved in the grassroots because you make a difference. You make a difference.
SPEAKER_18Right. And so of course that kind of eventually drove you here uh into the race for C D 38, where of course, as you mentioned, you're born and raised, kind of led to this moment where you say, Hey, I I I gotta do something else, right? And on top of all the the work that I'm already putting in here, the donations, I have to do something personally uh to make a change here. And now you've wound up in a runoff. Uh can you tell us a little bit about that runoff, what that sort of looks like, and maybe some of the things that differentiate you, say, from other options.
SPEAKER_15Well, um, thank you very much. It was a um, I've got to tell you, I um when my congressman decided to run for Senate, um, it was just felt like the right time in the right place, did a lot of praying and um prayed with my family and had great conversations with them. And they know that I'm I'm doing it for my children um who are amazing twin girls who are teenagers and about to be seniors, and um they were just, you know, mom, you gotta stand up for what's right. And that's what we're doing, is we're protecting our families, we're protecting our faith, we're protecting our businesses. And I have a unique skill set that as finding the front of the paycheck, as being a part of a very regulated industry that didn't always get it right, um, having a lot of trusted local, state, and federal officials and um people who believe in the same things that I do trust me because they feel me on a workhorse, not a show horse. And you know, we prayed about it and yes, we said we were in this, we're all in this together. Um we were I was one of 10 candidates, and most those candidates were just amazing. I couldn't really think about Barrett Nabb and Jeff Hugh and Jennifer Sunt and several others who just led a really clean, faith-based race, and um um by the grace of God, and we made it to the runoff. And um there's the two of us. Early voting starts May 18th to the 22nd, and election day is the 26th. We've got a heck of a race, and I am very confident, um, strongly confident that we are on the right path to victory. I know we are. This is it's it's exciting. Um, I've seen the numbers, I've seen the path to victory. There were a lot of things that um our my opponent did and that we did um that are leading to a um to a win, and I'm excited about this.
SPEAKER_18Right, right. So let's jump into some of those issues. Uh Harris County and Houston have, of course, dealt with, I'll say, very real consequences of the border crisis from fentanyl deaths, gang activity, which of course then produces strain on local law enforcement. Say that you're in Congress, what does securing the border actually mean in practice? What are people voting for? What are you fighting for that's going to have an impact here at the local level?
SPEAKER_15Well, we have to protect our border. You know what? We lock our doors when we go to work or whenever we, you know, go to bed at night. We have to lock our borders. And if that means electronic surveillance and actual border walls, like the Trump administration has been doing, then we have to do that. Since we have put in more stronger, since we have put in border walls and put trying to put a squash on bringing in illegal immigrants, our fentanyl deaths have gone down, but they're still there. People are coming in across the border that are criminals are slowed down, but they are still there. We have to continue our fright. And I will be fighting for electronic surveillance, for finishing up the wall, for making sure we put in systems in place and keep our border strong. It's very simple. Protect our border, and that helps protecting our kids. It helps protect our faith, it helps protect the um elements that have killed people like Jocelyn and several others across this country. I am a huge supporter of law enforcement. Um, we need to do whatever we can protecting federal, state, and and uh local law enforcement in every way, shape, or form.
SPEAKER_18Right. And on top of that, I think a lot of the issues that people have rightfully raised have been that a lot of this has been done, not that it's a problem, but because it's been done a lot through merely the executive branch through through executive orders, a lot of people are concerned that say 2028 doesn't go our way. Uh, if we don't have Congress doing things to actively codify a lot of this, to put in an effort for them to work alongside Trump's appointment to work alongside Trump's executive orders, that this doesn't change, uh then come 2028-2029, things could shift dramatically if that's not already set in stone.
SPEAKER_15Well, Michael, I agree with you 100%. And that's one of the things that I want to do as soon as I walk into Congress is just make um a laws to codify all those executive orders because it's important to protect our families. It's important to continue to do this, and also fighting against the any element of Sharia law, um, making sure that we've we've um uh we have to codify that that's one of the first pieces of legislation I'll be done, and also put in um protections for election integrity. And when I was part of the Harris County as a precinct chair and vice chair, we had huge issues in Harris County with the corruption going on with the election administration and everything else on election integrity. So everything has to be protected. It's um heartbreaking that elements of our of our citizens and when actually our non-citizens have um hurt our elections to where people don't vote anymore and actually um um make sure we protect um all aspects of that vote that you and I cast.
SPEAKER_18Absolutely. Now the next kind of topic that I want to go over to is the economy. I think this is another really big deal for a lot of people. And again, I think it's reasonable reason I think it's reasonable for that to be such a big deal. Uh inflation has hit families here in Houston incredibly hard, uh, from groceries to insurance. Uh there's of course been a lot of conversations about young people being able to afford homes. Um and so I I think that this is a real question. What what's something that needs to be done uh to deal with the things that are getting more expensive, whether that's housing, groceries, insurance, anything on the list of things that people use and purchase every day? Uh what do you do to kind of fix the issue that we've been dealing with in our country now for years?
SPEAKER_15protective code have helped me understand a lot more and the fact that I'm sitting here feeling it as a moment ago and have expensive groceries and the issues that are surrounding us on affordability. The um oil prices are going to go up from um the um inflation in um Iran what it is is it we have to strengthen our strength economy and create help us with help us with creating and help with people who are in those roles too hate if you like the rules and regulations that keep you from growing keep you from building keep you from exploring and innovating then we have to go and not only eliminate those rules and regulations but prevent it from going but also understand that you know providing illegal mortgages to people like in colony preventing hardworking families across America from getting mortgages and um being able to pay for those mortgages and buying homes we have a huge um we have had huge issues with people being able to find homes and be able to afford them we help our citizens we have a hard working folks in our family and the legislation that helps all your characters and you're another example of the um um um income being increased um and i'm i'm I'm proud of that we have to do that on a federal level 400 billion dollars if we Medicare and Medicaid little things that we can do with new technology and AI that can help find those people who are listening to 115 years old that need to be that we can do with them who will make a difference at each and every level of um government in the federal obviously at each and every level families we have to protect our families we have to continue providing jobs we have to make sure people um can afford their homes and um be an active part of our economy.
SPEAKER_18Right. And so as we're getting kind of close to the wrap up here, the next thing I want to talk about I think this kind of connects all these different issues. I think it kind of goes in hand in hand uh everything from you mentioned our culture, our faith, uh the the whether that's the border, that's the economy, hardworking American families, the American way of life in general, American exceptionalism through business and innovation, all of that I think kind of aligns in general with a Christian worldview. Your campaign is pretty openly faith-driven, which I appreciate you've talked about safeguarding Christian conservative values in Congress. We all know that there's a lot of competing interests, a lot of competing pressures. How do we hold that line as Christians, as people of faith and say, hey, actually I know that there's been this sort of turn in the past few decades that that says Christianity has no place on the public stage. But the reality is actually quite the opposite that that Christianity should be the leading driver of the of the the direction that we want to take our country of the reason that our country was so great in the first place. What does that look like in practice?
SPEAKER_15Oh my God, that's such a great question. It's one of my favorite things to talk about is faith and how do we align that and prevent um you know prevent the erosion of our faith because other radicals want to come in and put in their Sharia law, et cetera. It's you know one of the first things that I want to do is um create a Christian prayer conference up in DC and that way we can ever all lawmakers can become part of it and pray together, talk about faith together and just make sure we focus on um the basic principles of the Bible and you know we talk about belief and we follow the Ten Commandments it makes the world a little bit better belief don't you think we don't think I mean it in hard decisions have to be made but when you follow those basic principles of the solutions that are really found in the Bible you know it makes a big difference and values you know I want the congressional district 38 to know that those are the values that I stand for and stand up for and we'll abide by when we're going through making decisions on legislation. It is about protecting our faith protecting our family protecting our freedoms and it's all circled around the Bible and our Christianity.
SPEAKER_18Absolutely and and I've I've held that when it comes to our founding uh even before our founding and and that of course informs the founding of our country as as the United States of America and and to the modern day I I've said before a lot of the blessings that we still have as a country are from the outpouring and and downstream effects of a Christian nation. And so I think that's absolutely crucial as we're getting close here I have I have two kind of quick little questions.
SPEAKER_15The la the first one here is I want to kind of give you a moment as someone that's uh if someone's listening right now, again we have Shelly DeZebelis on talking kind of about this this runoff election for CD 38, how would one of our listeners who's listening right now who maybe is on the fence doesn't know who they're voting for doesn't know what you know what really the differences are why should that person a Republican an American first conservative choose Shelly DeZebelis my background and experience and I understand the issues and the challenges being born and raised here fifth generation Texan native Houstonian a mom um business owner it's all about hard work and coming together. Shelly for Congress I'd love for you to come by take a look at my what my belief systems are what I stand for. And look I mean I have done a lot in terms of volunteerism and working hard and been a part of my church. And Callie you know my phone number is on my website it's there because I work for you and I work hard and been a very active part of the community serving on several aviation national organizations serving on local nonprofits helping out our community so my phone number's on there I will answer your questions I will stand up for what's right and I like I said I will be working for you and I want you to have the ability to contact me anytime and that's what it's about.
SPEAKER_18Well spoiler alert my last question is just gonna be how can we be able to stay up to date with your campaign and get in contact with you. That was my last question.
SPEAKER_15Well thanks I appreciate it it's ShellyforCongress calm call me let's have a meet and greet let's have a conversation um my job is to earn your vote in trust and my job is to continue working for you over the next um several years in Congress as your Congresswoman. So um you know this is just a quick snapshot of what I'm about it's about faith family uh freedom uh the the um experience that I've had the fact that I've worked hard I've been a very active part of this community and this is what I want to do is protect our home stand up for you stand up for our values absolutely well Shelly I appreciate you coming on giving us your time this morning coming on the air and let us know all about your campaign and what you believe in.
SPEAKER_18Thanks so much for your time.

Texas Agriculture Defense Program Explained
SPEAKER_18So a former Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy this week was sentenced to four years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of online solicitation of a minor landon Slatter, 43 years old, was arrested in March of last year and accused of sexually assaulting a child he met on social media. Court records indicate that they dismissed the assault charge, which they often do that doesn't just mean because they didn't have the evidence, but because he was willing to accept a plea deal where he would plead guilty to one of the charges in exchange for dropping the other one, which I actually terrible. I wish everything went to trial. Nevertheless, the Montgomery County District Attorney's office said that he will be required to register as a sex offender and surrender his law enforcement license. His defense attorney could not be reached for comment. He resigned following his arrest he'd worked for the sheriff's office for fifteen years. In January of last year is when this investigation kicked off when the Montgomery County Precinct II Constable's office began an investigation into Slatter after the agency was contacted by the mother of a 17 year old boy. The mother thought her son was being sexually abused and exploited by several men he met online, beginning when the boy was around fifteen fourteen or fifteen years old. Detectives discovered during the investigation that Slatter had communicated with the teen and allegedly solicited him for a sexual encounter. The two allegedly met multiple times after they made contact for the first time in 2023. The boy allegedly told Sladder he was over the age of eighteen but authorities said they had evidence the deputy knew the boy's actual age and so I I again this is just one of those stories. We are far too lenient with these kinds of people. These sorts of people should be completely ostracized from civil society. I mean bare minimum usually the easiest way to do that is through things like capital punishment. But regardless of of the particular methodologies, at least being on the sex offender registry is a step in the right direction, but you will never convince me that four years where you are fed, clothed and given a bed to sleep on is justifiable punishment for meeting up with a 14 year old boy. You're never going to convince me of that ever. That that's never going to happen. Because these sorts of people should never be participating in civilized society ever again. Actually we're gonna contrast that not contrast but compare that because we've got another story that I I was going to do it in the next segment, but it's it's similar enough because over in Texas City, Gowerson County deputies arrested a man they said was actively looking at photos and videos of child pornography while they were executing a warrant at an apartment also this week. The Gallison County Sheriff's Office says that Tanner Francis, who's 28 years old, is charged with possession uh with intent to remote child pornography in possession of visual material depicting sexual assault. The Sheriff's office says the investigation started last month when they received a cyber tip from the National Center for missing and exploited children. And so a search warrant was executed at an apartment. As they executed the warrant the sheriff's office said they caught Francis actively viewing multiple videos and images of child pornography. Detectives also seized several electronic devices along with approximately 4.7 grams of methamphetamine, multiple agencies assisted in the investigation and warrant execution you have the Gauss County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, crime scene unit, Texas Police Department SWAT team, Gauss County Precinct 4 constable, Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, a bunch of people involved in in these sorts of situations and again you can see it very clearly these sorts of people are not compatible. I I I don't know what the thought process is of letting these people back out. When you have allowed yourself to become inundated with these sorts of things that that are not only evil but are so disconnected from anything that we view as culturally good from anything we view as a nation as being of of benefit of beneficial nature. When you are so disconnected from moral righteousness that you have convinced yourself that these sorts of things are acceptable in what world do we think that that's then the kind of person I I mean maybe you know what Dad, maybe we have like an internment camp for pedophiles. I mean if you're like ah but uh he didn't actually hurt nobody so we can't we can't give him the death penalty. First of all, I think he certainly can I think he did hurt people he contributed to the crisis but even if even if you weren't willing to go that far bare minimum we need a separate housing community in like a big bubble for these sorts of people I I don't care if it looks post apocalyptic it doesn't matter you need a separate place if you're gonna do this where these people work for the benefit of all the other Americans they do the hard labor and then they're put back in their housing facility and that's their life. Because if if you're the kind of person that's going to view this content that's going to contribute to the child assault complex that is going to continually be so disconnected from what we as Americans would view as good, there's no reason why those people should ever be allowed to reintegrate into society. That's not going to happen. The odds are not in our favor that these people are going to come back in, they're gonna have fixed all their issues. And so it's crazy to me because the government has their priorities all out of whack. The priority should not be rehabilitation and reintegration. That's not the goal of the justice system. The goal of the justice system that's gonna come as a shock to people is actually justice, which for people like this does not mean putting them back around people again. It does not mean allowing them to become a part of the community again, to be given this sort of governmental mercy that justifies not actively punishing people. And you know the government has their priorities out of whack because while they won't actively really and you could say well they're punishing him they're giving him four years in prison all this sort of stuff you're not actively punishing these people. The people you are the government is consistently punishing it's we the people who are being punished for other people's crimes. It's absolutely bizarre in the same breath that they're out here telling us ah yeah but we don't want to punish this guy. We want it to be rehabilitative we want to reintegrate these people back into civil society we want this to be a good thing. In the same breath they do that, they then turn around and say, yeah, we've got all this violence over here so we need to punish everybody for that. It needs to be corporal punishment for the violence that one man committed and what am I talking about? Well you know what I'm talking about it's the way that they treat our constitutional rights all the time. Where you have a mass shooting event whether it's at a bar or it's at a school and the outcries from the government are well we need we need stricter regulation on everyone in order to deal with these sorts of crises. And so in the same breath that they won't punish criminals, they will punish you for the actions of other criminals. It is it is completely nonsensical. And that's why I would encourage you to join with our sponsor Gun Owners of America because Gun Owners of America understands the reality that our rights are not rooted in the actions of any other person in the world. There are plenty of evil people who will do plenty of evil things. And that does not justify taking away your God given rights. Just as we'd all say uh that banning everyone's access to telecommunication, to to cell phones, to the internet is probably pretty evil because someone used it to view child pornography. It'd be crazy to take away everyone's phone that's the exact same argument made for taking away your gun rights. Well these other people did all these evil things the only difference between those two cases is that we actually have a God given right to guns. That's the main difference here. And so Gunners of America understands that it is a God given constitutionally enshrined right that must be defended and supported. They do that th through campaigns, through lobbying, through lawsuits and and all the rest grassroots orientations, training courses, all of this sort of stuff you go to goahuston.com to become a member is a$25 annual membership$25 per year that is then automatically used to continue the campaigning the lobbying and the lawsuits. Again that is GOAHUuston.com. With that being said, when we return from the break we're gonna jump over and talk about Sid Miller who has now launched what is called the Ag Defense Program. He's the agricultural commissioner who has emphasized that this new program invests in the expertise and knowledge needed to defend Texas's agriculture industry. And so we'll talk all about the program, what this initiative does, uh everything from pests to predators to to diseases and why that's so important for our not only our agriculture but our economy and our health in general. If you'd like to text in let us know your thoughts on any of the stuff that we're covering or something that you'd like to hear in one of these final segments text in at 713 7795978. Let me give that to you again that is 713 KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative I'm your host Michael Wilson. Humble ISD Title IX Settlement And Wrap
SPEAKER_18So Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced the opening of the Agriculture Defense Program, an initiative designed to help protect Texas ranchers and farmers from threats posed by agricultural pests, diseases, and predators. The initiative will be administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture in partnership with the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority to provide financial assistance to programs designed to protect and reduce losses for producers in the state's agriculture industry. Applications are now being accepted on an ongoing basis to ensure a rapid response to emerging threats that could harm the state's agricultural producers. Miller, when announcing this program, said Texas agriculture feeds and clothes the world. I'm not going to stand by while pests, disease, or predators threaten the livelihoods of our farmers and ranchers. This agriculture defense program gives us another powerful tool to stay ahead of these threats and protect the producers who keep our state strong. Now, through the program, Texas Agriculture Finance Authority will provide support to the Texas Animal Health Commission, Texas AM AgriLife Extension Service, and Texas AM AgriLife Research for the implementation of control and mitigation projects that tackle threats before they cause severe damage. According to the application website, the three entities above are currently the only ones listed as eligible for the program, while private entities are listed as ineligible. To apply, eligible entities must submit a letter of intent, which will be reviewed at the next TAFA board meeting. That's the Texas Agriculture Finance Authority board meeting. If approved, the organization will be notified within two weeks to submit a full application. Miller stated that by working with these partners through the Ag Defense Program, Texas is investing in the expertise and knowledge needed to defend its agricultural producers. He said Texas agriculture is the backbone of our economy and the heart of our rural communities. Programs like this ensure we stay one step ahead of the threats facing our producers and keep Texas agriculture strong, secure, and globally competitive for generations to come. And so my perspective on this is very simple. This is a very good thing. Um I I understand that people that are outside of Texas do not understand the intricacies of what goes on here in our state. Uh and and it's it's crazy because Texas really is one of the best places to be, not only for politics and for values and for heritage and history, uh, but also for our agriculture industry, our energy dominance, our economy in general. Texas is like top of the line on basically every metric. Uh we've highlighted it before, but if Texas were its own country, uh we we'd be what, top ten countries in the world? I I mean we would be competing on the global stage as our own country, separate from the rest of the US. And that's an absolutely bizarre thought to realize, but it's absolutely true. And so what we're grappling with when we look at our agriculture industry, what we're grappling with when we look at the way that this operates, uh, is that if we're not willing to take very clear steps, and I said the same thing about a lot of our industries, people have gotten so r wound up over this sort of fiscal success. And what I mean by that is money at any cost, greed at any cost, that the result in many cases has been our willingness to outsource all of our things to other countries, whether that's Argentina, whether that is China, regardless of where it is, we have been willing to outsource our production, our manufacturing, we've been willing to import a lot of things, as opposed to producing it here, being what I'd call self-sufficient. One of the ways in which we've done that has is been has been historically, and unfortunately, through the cattle industry, uh, where we've sacrificed a lot of our own hardworking people, hardworking Texans, on the altar of success, on the altar of fiscal success. And the reality is, and I want to make this very clear, because a lot of people don't seem to understand it, our country is not merely an economic GDP zone. I know that it's it's relatively easy to try to boil it down and look at the world through that sort of lens, but it's simply not true. We are so much more than that. And if we're not willing to acknowledge that, the result is going to be our downfall. The result is going to be uh that if we're willing to trade anything out, including our own heritage, our own culture, uh, and our own history, on some sort of pursuit of just global physical success. And that's it, if that's our only metric, we're going to lose everything that actually matters. Because when you look at some of the happiest societies in the world, I was talking about this with some guys last night. When you look at some of the happiest countries in the world, uh, they are not necessarily the ones that are the most economically successful. They don't necessarily have, say, you know, the highest GDP out of anybody. It's the ones that have a shared heritage and a culture, uh, where they have a sense of community, a sense of belonging, uh, a sense of a shared reality with other people. And the agriculture industry, I actually do believe contributes to that massively. Uh Texas, you know, you could say, Oh, you know, ah, well, we're not in the Wild West anymore. When you think about cowboys and you think about the greats of history uh here in Texas, uh, whether that's, you know, all the way back to the times of the Alamo, the Republic, all of these sorts of things. One of the main things that's been a part of that for a very long time has been our agriculture. And so if we're not willing to do what it takes to protect that from predators, pests, diseases, and foreign competitors, I would include that on the list, then we're going to lose and we deserve to. But I don't believe that we deserve to, and I don't believe we are going to lose, but it's required it's going to require more programs like this where we stand up and say, yeah, our our main goal here should be to benefit Texans, should be to benefit our own economy, our own industry, to be self-sufficient and produce our own things. With that being said, to wrap up the show, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and talk about Umble ISD, which has now paid out$750,000 for a settlement with an employee who filed a Title IX complaint. Um apparently it was against the former superintendent Elizabeth Fagan's husband for fostering a toxic work environment, according to the agreement. Uh, we'll talk more about the details of that complaint and the settlement payout when we get back in the last segment. If you would like to text in, this is your last opportunity, really, to do so. The number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Don't go anywhere because we will be right back to wrap up the show with this payout of the Citol IX complaint after the break.

SPEAKER_04The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_07If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

SPEAKER_18So Umble ISD, I guess it's technically also HISD, interestingly enough, has agreed to a$750,000 settlement. Back in August of 2023, the district launched a month-long investigation into then athletic director Troy Kite after one of his employees filed a Title IX complaint against him. An independent law firm conducted the investigation and ultimately recommended that Umble ISD terminate him after concluding that Kite had violated the law, which protects people from sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs. About two years after the initial complaint, in May of last year, the employee sued Umble ISD, Kite, Fagan, and several trustees for sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation for filing the Title IX complaint. And so according to the settlement agreement, the employee agreed to release Umble ISD from any Title IX allegations. The attorney will receive$500,000 from the settlement, and the employee will receive$250,000. The district's payout is the latest in a years-long saga involving the former superintendent and her husband, both of whom were ultimately terminated as a result of the investigation. An itemized report from last year showed that Umble ISD spent nearly$2 million since 2023 on legal fees from outside firms tied to the initial investigation as well as other complaints from Fagan and Kite. And so this has been an ongoing problem. Both Umble ISD and Alfred Sutherland, the attorney representing the employee, declined to comment on the settlement. But you have to keep in mind, uh, the board initially asked if the employee would accept a severance package and leave the district. Basically trying to bribe the person out of all of this, which is what a settlement feels like anyway, to be clear. It kind of feels like a bribe to drop it. But the lawsuit said that the employees suffered loss of income, mental anguish, damage to their reputation, humiliation, embarrassment, and other harm due to challenges on the credibility of the title I complaints. And as a result, the employee asked for monetary relief over$200,000, but not more than$1 million. Should have shot higher because they gave you near the near the bottom of that at$250K. But nevertheless, this is the way things go. And just be aware, that's your money, by the way. If you live up there in Montgomery County, that's your tax dollars. That's not that's not coming out from the people who did the thing. That's not coming out. The employees are not civilly liable, they're protected. No, no. That's the district that's paying it out. And so, of course, that comes from our pockets as taxpayers, which should be frustrating to everyone. Either way, that will do it for the show today. Thanks everyone for tuning in. You've been listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Lord willing to be back bright and early tomorrow at 6 a.m. We have a couple guests on. We're gonna have Warren Howell, uh, likely around 6 30. We're still finalizing that. And then, of course, Charles Blaine for the weekly local recap. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your Thursday, ladies and gentlemen. And Godspeed.
