A Fifth Circuit Ruling Makes Deportations To El Salvador Easier
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Politics can feel like a nonstop argument about personalities, but we’re chasing something deeper: what if the chaos is downstream from worldview and culture? We start with Ephesians 6:12 and the idea that our “struggle” isn’t only against people, then test that lens against the headlines shaping Houston and Texas right now.
From Houston City Council’s anti-ICE ordinance to Harris County leaders floating “guidelines” for interacting with ICE, we break down what cooperation actually looks like on the ground, why consistency matters for law enforcement, and why recommended frameworks can still function like a sanctuary city workaround. Then we move to a major immigration development: a Fifth Circuit ruling that upholds deportation to El Salvador despite claims about harsh prison conditions under the Convention Against Torture. That turns into a straight talk conversation about mercy, repentance, and why government justice is not the same thing as personal forgiveness.
We also hit a Lamar CISD police leadership shakeup, a disturbing Montgomery County Uber driver case involving alleged online solicitation of minors, and why weak deterrence invites repeat offenses. Along the way, we make the case that culture is the long game, preview the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston, and explain why antitrust action like the Ken Paxton and FTC settlement over digital advertising collusion still matters for free society.

Spiritual Warfare And Modern Politics
SPEAKER_10In the heart of Texas, Houston's gun loving Patriot, and the voice of reason is the most part conservative, Michael Wilson.
SPEAKER_13Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. You know, one major conspiracy theory that I want to kick off the morning with, something that I talked with a great group of guys about last night, and that is, and it's not a conspiracy theory, I'm being a little facetious because it's obviously true. That is, and I know that the modern liberal mind is not going to be able to even comprehend this because their worldview does not allow for spiritual things. But I know that even as Christians, this can be difficult because the modern day is so secularized. You look 200 years ago, and I mean even less than that, America was distinctly Christian. You look at Europe really over the last thousand, fifteen hundred years, very Christian. And you compare that to today, where yes, we still experience a lot of the fruits and the blessings of having been a Christian nation. That's good. And you still have a lot of Christians that live here, especially if you look through the Bible Belt, right? You look here in states like Texas, we have a lot of Christians. But it's not the same. You have so many different religions, it's the whole melting pot problem. You have so many different religions: Hinduism, Muslims, Buddhists, right, and so on and so forth. And you have a lot of sort of postmodern liberal, really Marxists, uh, who are often atheists or agnostics, or like even Satanists. And so, of course, the mind of a lot of the liberal woke people, uh and by extension, a lot of the mind uh of even we on the right uh has been kind of transformed by modernity, I'll say, to the point where you look around and it's kind of difficult in in modern-day America with all the technology and the innovation and all the secularism, you kind of lose sight of what this nation used to believe. And one of the things that Christianity very clearly teaches us is I've seen this verse taken wildly out of context as a justification for never going through a just war against other people, uh, never using self-defense tactics, right? Absolutely crazy stuff. I've I've seen that happen. So I want to caution as I read this verse that I am not saying that this does not uh allow for certain cases where you go and you are willing to fight in a physical war. But it does explain to a very large degree uh the kind of the kind of stuff that we're dealing with. This is from Ephesians, by the way. I know we're starting it off with a Bible verse this morning. Ephesians 6.12. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. What does that mean? Well, I I would argue it means that a lot of the stuff that's going on in our country, in our state, in our localities, in our whatever region you're in, a lot of the things that are going on are very clearly spiritual. And that's on both sides, by the way. There's a lot of good spiritual stuff for some people, there's a lot of bad spiritual stuff for others. What I mean by that, and a lot of Christians have lost sight of that, a lot of Christians uh on the right have sort of just been so so indoctrinated by this sort of secularism in in the modern day that we look around like, nah, it can't be demons. I mean, there's really just bad people out there. That's and then we get caught up in the whole psychological versions of mental health and justifications for evil. We get caught up in forgetting uh that there is evil out there. That it when you look and you say, well, it's a conspiracy theory, that there's uh, you know, Pizzagate, there's a cabal of people in Hollywood who are participating in in heinous things. Or there's an Epstein, there is, or at least was, a list of Epstein clients who flew to the island, who participated in absolutely debaucherous and evil things. Why, we might ask. And I think the answer is very clear. Uh, there are demonic forces that are working against the interests of believers, because they're working against the interests of God. And they desire uh to see themselves win. And so whenever we're approaching a lot of this stuff, I I think it's a moment that we need to step back and say, like, understand, we're not just warring against evil people, though we are. We're not just warring against evil ideology, though we are. We also are in a war against legitimate demons. I I mean, the like actual spiritual forces of evil that we have to that we have to deal with. And it drives so much of the discourse on the left, it drives so much of I mean, understand that all of their policies are demonic in nature. Uh you look at transitioning children, taking away the the biology that God gave them and replacing it. You look at abortion, let's murder your child. It's child sacrifice. I mean, if that's not demonic, I don't know what policy could be. You look at open borders, stop caring for your own countrymen, disorder your loves, stop caring for your family first and your country second and people third. No, care for those people first. It disorders what you're called to who you're called to love, how you're called to love them. All of the policies of the left is an inversion of what's good because they're influenced by demons. And I know, I know, there'd be a lot of secularists who, you know, maybe listen to this show that say, okay, I can go with you as you say that Jesus is in control. I can go with you as you say that our kind of rooted beliefs about conservatism and traditionalism ultimately come from Christianity. I can go with you there, uh, but I'm not buying that there's some sort of demonic cabal that's running things. You don't have to believe me for it to be true. And I got news for you. This was told back in Ephesians. When they're talking about all the evil they're having to grapple with, it becomes very clear, hey, you're not just fighting against people. There are legitimate evil spiritual forces at work here that that want to destroy you because you're a Christian. And you have to know that. And more importantly, you have to be prepared for it. Because if you're not prepared for it, it'll catch you off guard. You won't understand the level of evil that that comes from certain people. You know, I've heard of some some people in, let's say, the the podcast radio realm who get in trouble for you know something being found on their computers. And you think, oh, that's crazy. I never I never pegged him for a guy that would that would uh you know consume that sort of content. That's that's man, very degenerate. And then you think to yourself, and and you think, well, this is what he's been reporting on. Well, this is what he's been talking about. Well, this is the sort of stuff that he's been poking at, and now all of a sudden you find illegal content on his computer, and he's saying, I I don't know how that got there. You know, maybe it's possible uh that this is, again, evil people in positions of power that are trying to take I I you can you can say that that doesn't happen. It certainly does. And I'm not saying that every single person who's accused of having illegal content on their stuff is not guilty. Obviously, there are a lot who are. I'm merely pointing out uh that the evil that's around will do just about anything. Uh it will, not just about, will do anything if it means stopping good, if it means stopping what's true, it means stopping what what ultimately will help fix this country, if it means stopping the gospel from being preached, it'll do it. But that also means that our sort of position on this, all right, as we kind of understand, we must be very fervent in our perseverance. That means that when we're talking about evil and talking about uh the public school system and indoctrination and our higher institutions, and we're talking about the border crisis, and we're talking about LGBTQ. I mean, you can see the new Canada lady who made it like 30 digits, like 30 digits long. I don't even know M2, QLS, LB, whatever it is. When you talk about transitioning children, when you talk about abortion policy, when you talk about all these things, you need to understand where that's coming from, what drives it. And it's not just tolerance, it's not just, oh man, they're just wrong. And I was talking a little bit about this yesterday because I just I I was flabbergasted again, thinking about how? Why are these people so, not to be offensive, but why are they so dumb? They seem like smart people and they debate well, and then you listen to their line of logical reasoning and you think, hmm, something about this. You you're not that's not logical. That doesn't make any sense. That's not rooted in reality. There's nothing about that that's true. Why would you ever believe that? And I have the answer today. Demons. That's the answer.
Houston And Harris County On ICE
SPEAKER_13Now, with that being said, I kind of want to get into this because it kind of goes along the kind of the same side of stuff, right? Where you where you look and you wonder. So what what what where do we see that sort of evil taking place in a sort of cabal mentality here at the local level? And I'll give you an example because we all know that city council in Houston voted for that absolutely insane ICE, anti-ICE ordinance last week, which I think Mayor Whitmeyer is really hoping to undo tomorrow. Nevertheless, now Harris County, not to be outdone, has come out and said, you know, maybe we also should consider doing something like that. So apparently, um obviously they were talking about what happened at City Council, at City Hall, where you had this sort of effort to limit cooperation between law enforcement and between ICE. Uh Commissioner Ellis, unsurprisingly, has placed an item on this week's Commissioner Court agenda aimed at developing guidelines for how local agencies should handle interactions with ICE. Now, to understand, uh, he says that the move is necessary really regardless of where you fall on your beliefs of cooperation, because we need uh apparently there's no consistent approach currently at how agencies are supposed to deal with ice. There's no overall, here's what you do. In fact, he says, he said, right now it's all over the board. It depends on which law enforcement entity you go to. And you also had the Harris County Sheriff's Office, uh, who confirmed that it does not have a policy addressing how deputies should interact with ICE in the community, uh, which means how should they interact with administrative warrants? How should they interact with people who are, you know, have committed this crime and who are here illegally? How do they deal with that? Who do they call? Not Ghostbusters. They call or they should call ICE. Nevertheless, Commissioner Ellis argues that that lack of clarity, not really knowing what is going on, not really knowing which law enforcement agency will do what is incredibly dangerous. Uh he said you run the risk of an individual deputy making a decision on what they perceive to be the rules. Things operate better when people know the rules and when they're transparent. He also says the issue, of course, extends beyond just law enforcement procedure and is affecting how safe residents feel. Oh man, this one gets me. Because I can understand if you need to put in a policy for guidelines on how you interact with ICE, that's a good thing. Because obviously, we should have consistent policy across the county for how we're engaging with federal enforcement. You wouldn't want federal enforcement to approach one deputy and say, Yeah, I got you. And the next one say, I'm not helping you. And then you're they're wondering, well, who do we reach out to? That would just be a mess. Obviously, I'm okay with, as long as it's good policy, passing some sort of policy that gives a level of clarity to the consistency of the way that our agencies are cooperating. My issue, then, is not that you want a policy to clarify consistency, that would be fine. But you couldn't stop there, could you? You just couldn't help yourself. No, no. Instead, he comes out and he says that there are situations where the presence of law enforcement officials can trigger fear among residents, sometimes even himself, who worry about immigration enforcement. He said, if I go to work sites around Harris County, people start running. That makes it difficult for them to cooperate with law enforcement. In other words, because as a commissioner, they run away. They're scared of them being deported because a commissioner sees them. He said that there are broader community concerns, including the cancellation of the 2026 Cinco de Mayo parade, uh, where they talked about safety concerns related to increased immigration enforcement activity. And so Ellis, of course, also noted specifically, we already know this, but he he made it clear after he saw all of the debate and the votes in the city of Houston, that kind of drove him to say, good idea. We also need to do something similar over here in Harris County. And so because Harris County does not have direct authority over all local law enforcement agencies, uh, the proposed guidelines would not be mandatory. This gets even more confusing. Just wait. Instead, they would serve as a recommended framework to encourage more consistent practices across jurisdictions. Commissioners are expected to begin discussing the proposal at the next commissioner's court meeting. Now, Ellis said that recommendations could be finalized and brought back to the court by early summer. When it comes to the constable offices, each Harris County Law Enforcement Agency is under the direction of an independently elected official and has its own policies and procedures that employees are required to follow. And so like Precinct Date, for instance, admitted that they have they handle immigration and custom enforcement detainers with the same protocol used for arrest warrant confirmation. Um so they basically said during any call for service, traffic stop, or person stop, deputies are prohibited from directly contacting ICE to check for detainers. But that does not mean uh that if circumstances arise that raise questions regarding the immigration status, uh basically you have an on-duty supervisor who's gonna handle that. So they just kind of take it up another level to make sure that everything's clear and go and fine, which is okay. You're allowed to reach out to your supervisor, no issues there. And so they kind of you can kind of go through that you have precinct four, precinct two, a lot of these precincts that are kind of responding, saying that they they and admittedly they do all have a variety of different responses when you look at the way they're handling ice, which is bad. I I do, I do understand that it would be much better if we were consistent. That's a positive. I agree. My issue is that you want it to be consistently bad cooperation. That's the problem. If we all we could all agree that we want a level of clarity on exactly what law enforcement should do when there's administrative warrants out for the arrest of an illegal alien. We all want that. The difference is I want you to take them straight to jail and hold them and wait for ice. You, you in fact, I would take it a step further. I would actually I I think you can look at Galvison County as an example of this. They're actually doing it down there. You guys are great, by the way. Uh down in Galvison County, they are willing to take them to an ICE facility. You can get training to do that, and you can actually kind of act as a sort of ice agent in lieu of an ice agent if you're law enforcement. Uh so I'd be okay with that. But the crazy radicals on our commissioner's court, no, no, no, they don't want the consistency of how do we cooperate? They want to get the consistency of just not cooperating. That's what Commissioner Ellis wants. And unlike City Council, because I sort of know why they're doing this, it's not just that they don't have the authority really. One of the reasons that city council's in trouble, you may remember, is because we have state law that's designed to require a level of cooperation and engagement with federal immigration authorities. There's a reason for that. Uh we think that it's safer. It's sort of also a ban on sanctuary cities. That's the design. And what Houston did, I think pretty obviously violates it. Alejandro Salinas, some trial lawyers who's like, no, no, no, no, no. Doesn't violate it. Here's the constitutional proof, Fourth Amendment, which I don't think makes any sense. But feel free to take it to the courts uh with with Ken Paxton. See how that goes for you. Yeah, I went to the big boy fight right off the bat. But Harris County actually has like it or not, a a slightly better leg to stand on. Because they're not passing an ordinance that would violate state law, they're passing a recommendation. And maybe those specific entities would be violating state law, but they wouldn't be because it's local government, not the specific entities that would get in trouble. But local government, when it comes to Harris County, would be saying, we didn't do anything. We didn't pass any ordinances. This is just a recommendation that they decided of their own volition to take. So I understand why they're doing that. The only issue is what if multiple precincts don't take it? Well, now you still have the same level of inconsistency that you were complaining about in the first place, and you've passed a useless bill that essentially has done nothing and wasted your time, especially if you have to deliberate and think about it till early summer, at least for a month. Uh people are gonna wonder, well, would your time not be better spent on maybe other things, given that, you know, we don't have that many arrests that are related to this. We already have precincts that aren't working with ICE, and what's you're not gonna actually do any policy changes. It's just a recommendation. I think it's fair to say that people are probably pretty frustrated uh by the notion of passing that. Nevertheless, I got a text in. No, absolutely. Um that's why, you know, remember you talk about atheists too, you know, you go the the fool says in his heart, there is no God. Right? So definitionally, if you say that there is no God, I don't need to know anything else about your policy standards. I don't care if you're on the right or the left, automatically I know that you're a fool. I automatically God says you're foolish. I need to know nothing else about you in order to make that determination to know that you are a moron. That's just how I mean, and and really, you can understand that even if you didn't have that verse. Look around at the world. I mean, you're telling me that you think this came from nothingness. I I mean, really. Look around you're telling me you look outside, you look at the human body, you look at anatomy, you look at relationships, psychology, you look at anything, you look at the stars, you get a telescope, like a micro uh not a microscope or a telescope. I'm just I'm just throwing out random scopes that aren't related to what I'm talking about. But you you you look at any of these things. I mean, use a telescope or a microscope, you look at anything. And we are reminded of the grandeur of what's been created. And for us to sit there, anybody to sit there and say, yeah, but that's just random. Give it a billion years, it'll be totally different. Unbelievable. I mean, just insane. And and you're absolutely right. Uh, the people that are in charge that and it's not just on the left, I want to be very clear. This often will be a bipartisan issue with people that are supposedly Republicans, um, who are also evil.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_13I'm not gonna name any names, but we know they're out there who are still evil, who call evil good and good evil. And even though they sometimes align with us a little more on policy, it doesn't change that reality. And unfortunately, they do a very good job at people at keeping people fear, fearful, and confused and dazed. They do a very good job at keeping people not in the know, uh, which by the way, not to toot my own horn, but that's why we're here, so that you know what's going on here in the Greater Houston area, so that you know what's going on here in the state of Texas. Um, if there's really big foreign policy changes or or huge uh you know, national level changes, we'll of course talk about it here on the show, but we go over all this local stuff, we go over all this county level stuff, we go over all the state stuff because I believe that it is incredibly important for people to know what's going on. If we're gonna change anything, that's step number one. Always say that. And it's always true. That's how we start changing it, and we gotta we gotta change it. Because you look around, and uh I mean, you just this ICE ordinance is a singular good example of it, how insane our local government has gotten. It's gotten entirely out of hand.
Atheism And Moral Blind Spots
SPEAKER_13With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna talk a little bit about El Salvador. I mean, I thought you just said you're talking about local level stuff. Kind of, it's related. I'll explain. Deportations To El Salvador Upheld
SPEAKER_09and gentlemen.
SPEAKER_13I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. And as we could get off in this segment, a federal appeals court has upheld the deportation of an illegal alien gang member from El Salvador after he claimed he would be tortured by Salvadoran officials. You know what? I'm gonna make a terrible joke. Buckle up, because this is not gonna sound very nice. Maybe you should have considered that before you broke into our home. That might it's like a robber. It's like a ro listen, it's like a robbery comes into your house, he breaks in, kicks your door down, starts threatening your kids, starts like stealing your stuff, and then you turn, you have a gun, and you're like, you're gonna die. And he goes, No! What did I please don't do this to me? You're like, dude, then why are you here? Yeah, I don't know what to tell you. It's your fault. I'm not my problem. You probably should have considered the unintentional effects of what you did before you did the thing. It's like if I walk out in the middle of of 45, I'm off 288. If I walk out in front of two in the middle of 288, maybe it's not so busy this morning. Uh give it an hour. I walk out in the middle of 288 an hour. I'm gonna get murdered. I'm I'm gonna just be dead. In in 20 seconds or less. There's no way every car is gonna dodge it. I'm gonna die. And if I sat around and said, court, can you believe this? That car tried to kill me. They would look at me rightfully and say that no. Actually, you probably should be in a mental asylum, to be honest. And when you compare that, oh judge, they're gonna torture me if I'm sent to my home. Well then why did you why did you come here and break in in order for you to say you knew that if you break in, that we have laws that you could be deported, and then because you've done criminal actions, we may deport you specifically to a prison. So do you want to explain what the thought process was? I know there probably wasn't one. You just hoped you wouldn't get caught, or you hoped that Biden would never stop being president, but he did, and you were caught. And now this is this is what happens. And so the ruling, uh, it's only for one, but it confirms, at least now at the court level, that aliens cannot rely on harsh prison conditions in their home country as a sort of blockade to deportations, which they were sort of relying on for a bit there, because there was an injunction where you can't deport them back because it'll be unsafe for them. They'll be tortured or hurt, or the prison conditions are not like the US, so they're bad and they'll be in prison and it'll be bad. Which it actually probably better, to be honest, if the prison was a little harsher. Our prisons are very luxurious comparatively to a lot of other countries. Anyways, uh, this guy's name, Jose Fuentes Panetta, he's of course a Salvadoran national. Uh he was apprehended after hent entering the U.S. illegally back in 2022. In El Salvador, he was a convicted murderer and member of Barrio 18, which is a rival gang of MS-13. During his immigration hearing, he testified that he was forced to join the gang as a teenager. As part of his gang initiation, 18 was tattooed on his back, and the number 18 was tattooed on his chest. He claims he was later allowed to leave the gang because he became a Christian. He requested his deportation be deferred, arguing he would be tortured in Salvadoran prisons. He cited the Convention Against Torture, which established the principle no state party shall expel, return, or extradite a person to another state where there are substantial grounds for believing that he would be in danger of being subjected to torture. Now, the immigration judge in this case acknowledged that the Salvadoran government is aware of Panetta's gang membership and has targeted him in the past. Now, although Salvadoran security forces tortured him on two occasions, evidence of past torture was basically deemed speculative. He's claiming they did, but we don't have full evidence that they did. And so the immigration judge found that poor conditions in Salvadoran prisons are not specifically intended to inflict torture. Just because it's a, you know, they they have harsher prison conditions, maybe you're fed a little less, that's not considered torture. It's just how their prison system works. And we don't get to lecture them on calling it torture just because our prisons are nicer. And so the board the Board of Immigration Appeals adopted and affirmed that opinion. And so, of course, then he appealed to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court. So it's gone through the immigration judge, then the Board of Immigration Appeals, and then it went to the Fifth Circuit. So it's now three courts in. And so now a three-judge panel has released its decision. And the court reasoned that to obtain relief, as in not be deported, Panetta must show that he more likely than not would be tortured if he were removed to El Salvador. And that he must show the past torture involved sufficient state action. And so Panetta argued that they didn't make a finding and and they don't know whether El Salvador is intentionally using prison conditions to inflict torture. But the Fifth Circuit came out and just said evidence is not sufficient to suggest that the dismissal and harmful conditions of detention are specifically intended to torture. It might just be the conditions. Right? And that's a tough line. You could say, well, at what point are the conditions so harsh that it would be considered torture? I don't know. But just because you're in a prison and a different country and the prison conditions are not like here doesn't make it torturous, right? Torture actually has a specific definition. And so uh basically the Fifth Circuit agreed and said substantial evidence supports the conclusion that El Salvador's harsh prison conditions aren't intentionally designed to inflict torture, and nothing in this guy's background compels us to reject those findings. And so as a result, his petition for relief was denied and his final removal order upheld. And the ruling establishes that at least as high up in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, illegal aliens cannot use their home country's harsh prison conditions as a legal barrier to being deported. Which of course covers Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi. And so one of the things that I want to highlight on this, of course, is, and you might have heard it, when he came out, he said, Well, you know, I became a Christian and they let me out of the gang. And I'm a changed man now. Please don't send me back to that country. They're gonna torture me. Instead, I don't want to face any justice for the crimes I've committed.
Forgiveness Versus State Justice
SPEAKER_13One thing that I think that people get a little confused on is a difference between an individual Christian or a church and a magistrate, somebody who is in a position of political authority, in a sense. They have different obligations and different roles to play, right? And and this gets into, you know, theology and philosophy that we don't have time for on a two-hour Houston local show. Uh, but suffice it to say, uh as I'll explain very quickly, the government is called to bear the sword in a way that the church and the people are individually are not. And what that essentially means is that yes, the church should be calling for forgiveness, and on the other side, for repentance. The church should be calling him to faith, right? We should be ministering to those who are in prison, to those who are accused of breaking the law, of course. But nothing that we are able to do convincingly in terms of you know, people being saved, in terms of God using the church to save people in prison, in terms of then coming to faith, uh, any of that. Repentance, a change of heart, right? None of that changes the government's obligation to still inflict justice. I'm very glad that you became a Christian and you got out of the gang. But you are a convicted murderer and you must face justice in your home country. And and I'm very glad you're a Christian. In fact, because you're a Christian, I think you should be able to take that like a man and go home. Many Christians have been tortured for things far more unfair than for being convicted murderers for their faith. For just the very nature of believing in Jesus Christ. If you want to claim that you're a believer now, and that's how you got out of the gang, one of the things that comes to being a believer is subjecting yourself to government authority, even when you don't like it.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_13And I don't mean that you can never push back on when the government's being tyrannical and evil. But if you're a convicted murderer and you're trying to avoid justice, that's that's not a good sign. That's not the goal of a Christian. You take it and go home. And maybe next time, because you said that you got to leave the gang because you were a Christian, and then you broke into the country, that's pretty wild. Nevertheless, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and talk about Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, because the police chief and the lieutenant, uh, apparently both of those no longer work for the district, according to records. Apparently, the lieutenant filed a grievance and an appeal regarding termination by the Lamar CISD, uh, the district. And uh this is kind of a wild sort of series of events, so we'll talk about it when we get back, kind of go over the background of it. In the meantime, if you would like to text into the show, let us know your thoughts on anything we're talking about or anything that we're not. The number, as always, is 713-779-5978. One more time. SPEAKER_21The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_04If you are of Medicare AIDS or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Lamar CISD Police Leaders Terminated
SPEAKER_13State records show that Lamar Consolidated Independent School District Police Chief Henry Garcia and Lieutenant Maria Molina are no longer employed by the district as of this past week. Now, according to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, both Garcia and Molina ended their employment with Lamar CISD on April 7th. And we learned just yesterday, by the way, that attorneys representing Lieutenant Molina have filed a formal grievance and an appeal challenging her termination. Quote, Lieutenant Molina adamantly protests this action, stating it is not substantiated by the facts. She intends to vigorously defend her reputation to ensure such a miscarriage of justice does not affect other officers in the future. Apparently, multiple sources have all said that Garcia and Melina were under investigation in connection with alleged inappropriate behavior on campus. Apparently, they also worked together for several years before they joined Lamar at the Stafford Police Department. Records indicate Melina was hired by Lamar roughly two months after Garcia became police chief. You know, questions of not nepotism, but favoritism, perhaps. Melina was promoted to lieutenant over the Office of Professional Standards in July of last year. In that role, she was responsible for ensuring the efficient and ethical operation of department personnel. Now both Garcia and Melina's photos and biographies were still listed on the Lamar website as of yesterday morning. I think they removed them after that was reported on. Apparently the person answered said that the Chief Garcia was unavailable, could not give them a call back. And so they also admitted that two officers had been placed on administrative leave pending a third party investigation. They were essentially assigned to interim leadership roles. And so this is the full statement from the Lamar CISD. It says, Lamar CISD has experienced recent personnel changes within its police department. These changes were the result of a matter isolated between officers and did not involve students, district resources, or campus operations. There is no impact to our campuses, and all safety protocols and procedures remain in place and continue to be followed. We understand there has been interest in this matter. As with all personnel-related situations, the district does not provide immediate public comment while established processes are underway. But I I I kind of do wonder what does that mean? Because obviously we understand that you have an investigation, you have to wait to reveal a lot of particular details. That's fair. But you've now fired they've now been terminated. So what are you waiting for to update the public on why they were terminated, giving us the background details? We deserve that. You're all in tax spare time. We we should know why. And if you were in the middle of that investigation, I'd understand if you couldn't reveal the exact details. You're not. Not only were they on leave for months, they've now been officially terminated. In fact, it's now gotten so bad that one of them has even appealed that and said, we need to challenge this. So why are we not being told anything? It's it's insane. Uh also, we got a statement from Maria Molina, who was the lieutenant who was terminated. She said uh that she's officially filed a formal grievance and appeal. The grievance asserts that Superintendent Nivens and the school district failed to follow required procedures and investigation protocols, including governing guidance. Headlines from Lamar CISD regarding the termination of a police officer. Lieutenant Molina adamantly protests this action, stating it is not substantiated by the facts. She intends to vigorously defend her reputation to ensure such a miscarriage of justice does not affect other officers in the future. And so, of course, we'll keep updated on how that particular appeal goes, and when we hear any actual details from the district as to what the heck is going on. Because again, the lack of transparency always irks me. It's like a pet peeve when our local government does something that maybe is justifiable, maybe a good policy change, maybe a positive action of spending, maybe a good termination. But when they don't tell us, it is unbelievably frustrating. We should we have they have an obligation to tell us. We have a right to know. Uh, and not letting us know is just very, very, unfortunately, very common. And again, you you can see it again, right? It's it's here and it's it's not surprising, but it's very frustrating nonetheless. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna go over, uh cover what we see going on in the weather, where we're going from here, all that sort of stuff, weather report updates before we wrap up the first hour of the show. In the meantime, if you would like to text in, let us know your thoughts on all the stories we're going through or anything you'd like to hear me report on. Heat Muggy Air And Cold Front
SPEAKER_13up. The weather is going pretty warm right now. We have a high of between 87 and 88 degrees today, but that could easily reach 90 in certain parts of the city. So do be aware today is basically the warmest day of the week. Especially for the the Houston metro area. Of course, uh that that changes, again, almost entirely based on where you are. Uh if you're, for example, I I know we have listeners all the way down 45 south. So say that you're listening from Galveston right now. Well, your high today is only about 80 degrees, right? Uh your high tomorrow only about 79 degrees. And so you're gonna have a bigger cool off. Your temperatures are more moderate than if you look at the Houston Metro. We'll usually do the Houston Metro, and so the high today is 87, 88 degrees, which also means we're having a high level of muggy weather, but that is setting the stage for some weekend rain. Uh tomorrow, pretty similar highs, highs in the mid to upper eighties, and really the same with Saturday. Uh though Saturday is where that cold front's gonna blow in, and that happens in the evening. So most, just to get kind of give you an understanding of where that comes in, our lows recently have been right around 68 to 72 degrees. That's where our lows have been sitting. So Saturday, we still get up to about 86 in the afternoon. We're getting some rain in the evening, and our lows are gonna go all the way down to 62 overnight. In fact, by Sunday morning, our lows should be in the mid to upper fifties. Uh and then by Sunday, our highs are only gonna go up into the 70s, right? So instead of it being in the mid to upper eighties, it is in the mid-70s. Uh Sunday right now, it's not gonna be exact, and this could change. Not only do we have some chances of rain, but we have highs about 76 to 74 over Sunday to Tuesday. And those lows, again, in the mid to upper fifties and low 60s. But uh, don't get used to it because it's gonna slowly get back up. By next Friday, we'll be back at a high of 87 and a low of 71. So be prepared for all of that, uh, especially with the NRA convention coming up, which if you've not if you've not gotten a weekend pass and you do that, you go to N-R-A-A-M. That is N-R-A-A-M.org, as in National Rifle Association Annual Meeting.org. Uh, to get your weekend pass tomorrow evening after the convention ends, we're gonna have a second amendment social. We'll talk a little bit more about that after the break. In the meantime, text in 713-779-5978. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and I'll be right back at the top of the next hour.

Culture Shapes Politics Over Decades
SPEAKER_13And can I, before we talk a little bit about the NRA, some stuff that we have going on during the NRA, because we have a couple of things that I would highly encourage you to come check out. Before we talk about that, can I just say for a moment how important culture is? You know, I've gone through multiple phases in my life in terms of prioritization of what I think is most important for a person to do. And I don't mean in the sense of obviously glorify God, have a family, right? All the base things that God's called us to, of course. Uh but I mean in terms of strategy. Where can we make the biggest difference? Right. Obviously, we know number one is in our own homes. That's of course the reality. But many of us can have influence at our workplace, right? My influence at my workplace just so happens to be a bunch of people listening to the show. Thank you guys, by the way. But we all have whatever level of influence God has given us. And so my my point in in that I that I kind of want to make this morning is that not always does the influence have to necessarily be political. Now, what do I mean by that? Because obviously I don't mean political in the sense that almost everything is in one way or another a political belief. Uh if you believe in in almost any principle, that should be pl that will be played out politically. Right now, that's that's not the kind of political I'm talking about. I mean actual policy.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_13Obviously, we all want the SAVE Act. Obviously, we all want the State Board of Education to fix the school curriculum. Obviously, we all want uh school choice dollars not to go to Muslim schools. All those are examples of policy. What about culture? And I want to be very clear because I'm not saying that we have to pick one or pick the other. In fact, I actually think much to our detriment when we pick one or pick the other, when we s when we kind of leave one by the wayside. And what I mean by that is very simple. A lot of people on the right have been incredibly focused on policy. And that's good, we should be. The left, meanwhile, has split their focus for many years between policy and cultural kind of impacts and influence. The result of that has been that, you know, after decades of that, the left controls so much stuff in terms of public perception that even your president is a moderate Republican because that's all we could do. And I'm not that's not to go after Trump, but that is to say that if you think that Trump is even remotely some sort of Christian conservative in terms of what he believes about policy, you're you're greatly mistaken. And again, that's not a dig at Trump, it's just true. I I I am a Trump supporter, and I know that's true. Trump has always been a sort of more moderate populist. He ra he really did kind of run on that, actually. And so the reason for that is that the left has had uh major cultural impacts, and the right has sort of seeded a lot of that ground because the right used to make great things culturally. And what I mean by that is art, and that comes in many forms music, movies, TV shows, actual art in the forms of paintings and and what have you, dance, opera, ballet, right? You go through the list, books, obviously, one medium of that. You go through all of those things, and the left disproportionately owns those industries. Almost every real like almost every artist is some sort of social justice warrior. 95% of movies that come out have some sort of woke agenda to them, very obviously. You know, the New York Times bestseller list, have fun looking at that. How many of those are conservative in in even and I don't mean that you're like lecturing people through your writing, but I mean that even have a Christian worldview attached to them. None of them. In fact, a lot of times the New York Times bestseller list is made up of like just straight up pornography in in in in red form. And so we've ceded a lot of that ground to the left, and the result has of course been catastrophic because even the right is now infected with leftist culture to such a degree that people are scared to be radical. What would not have been radical a hundred years ago. There's one thing I want to say, you know, the the most radical right-wingers, myself included, if I was to get an opportunity to talk to just your average man in say the 1850s, I would look potentially like a moderate. They'd look at me and be like, really? That's that's it. We've we've allowed our culture to change so much that now, you know, if I come out and I let's let's say I came out and I said, I don't think that we should allow, I mean, literally listening. I don't think we should allow women to vote. I come out and I say that. Right, that'd be a really radical position to hold. Uh, but then you go to just like 150 years ago and you ask your your average person, should women vote? What? No. What are you talking about? We have we have household votes. Where of course we take the advisor of our wives. Why would we do that? It's a bad idea. That would not be considered overly radical just 150 years ago. Why, and I'm not specifically talking about that, but why have have policies like that changed? What happened? Well, I can tell you, uh, the left had the opportunity to impact the culture. They've made the movies, they've written the books, they've painted the art, they've they've choreographed the dances, right? D, all of the above. They've had uh almost unambiguous control over all of it. While we've kind of just left it to the wayside. And it's not like we couldn't produce good things if we tried. I'll give you an example of this. If you were to look at uh the movie that's in theaters, we talked about it before, I just want to highlight they're now eyeing over six hundred million dollars in the in the global market, which obviously is is pennies compared to a a big Marvel film, right? But in terms of think about an original sci-fi, how many of them make that much money in theaters? How how how how often do you get a movie like that that comes through? Right. I mean, even if you look uh at a movie like say, say The Martian, um, which came out back in what, 2017, I I think it grossed about 630 million. That may have been the last one we got that we had that much money on on a on a theater-released film. Why? Because we don't make them. It's not that we're bad at it, it's that we don't do it. We don't prioritize it. And so we've got to work better at getting back in the culture, writing good books, painting, choreographing. We need people in those spaces who are dedicated to that because the left has had basically complete control over influencing the hearts and minds of the people through media. I mean, unbelievably so. These movies that you watch that you put in your head, they have impacts on you over time. The books you read, the the things you ingest, those things impact you. It impacts everybody. And somebody that's kind of young, especially, who's not solidified their worldview, doesn't really know what they believe, reading a lot of this stuff is going to become a radical leftist. Why? Because there's no media really these days that just pushes real truth in the culture. We're we're so busy fighting on policy that we just ignore. And then in 50 years, when we can never pass another one of our policy agendas again because there's none of us left, because the culture is taking all of our kids because we let them read all the stuff from the left, we'll know how that happened because we gave up on the cultural side of things. Now, with that being said, I do want to hint, or not hint, I want to talk a little bit about the NRA.
NRA Weekend Plans And Social
SPEAKER_13So the NRA annual meeting starts tomorrow, by the way, uh, and it runs through Sunday. Patriot 920, of course, is gonna be out there. We're gonna have a booth in the Voices of 2A section. Uh, it's gonna be a phenomenal time. We're gonna have a great time. Um, but again, Patriot 920 is gonna be there. Gun talk is gonna be there, for instance. Um, we're having a meet and greet on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Um at our at our booth. That is the armed attorneys, by the way, Emily Taylor and Richard Hayes. Um, they worked alongside GOA, but they done a lot of work for keeping people informed and educated on on what's going on in the gun community, specifically when it comes to the rights side of thing. Uh where they talk about the Second Amendment, policies with with guns, all that sort of stuff. Uh they are just phenomenal, very well researched and educated, lawyers, obviously. And so we'll have a meet and greet with them for 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. I'll also be doing live broadcasts Friday and Saturday. Just by the way, I'll I'll be doing uh a couple live broadcasts both of those days. We're also going to have a Second Amendment social event on Friday uh that that will basically start right after the convention ends that day. So I think the convention ends at five o'clock and then at 5 30 or sort of social begins. Um and that social, by the way, you definitely need to come out to uh for a couple reasons. One, we're gonna be there. That's that's the first thing that you need to know. We're gonna be there. Patriot Doc 920, it's our event. But it's gonna be April 17th, that's tomorrow, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It's right after the convention. We're gonna be raffling a six-hour handgun. Uh all attendees are automatically entered for free for that handgun, by the way, just for showing up. It's not a raffle where you buy tickets or whatever, totally free. Uh, we're also gonna be raffling special Smith and Wesson edition of two-a bourbon. So if you're a bourbon fella, come on out. We're gonna have free food, free drinks, and appearances by Second Amendment influencers, all happening during NRA weekend here in Houston. And if you'd like to register uh for that Second Amendment social, just go to 920gun.com. That is 920gun.com. Uh would be phenomenal to have you guys there. We'd we'd love, we'd love to just uh get to see all of you, all of our listeners coming on out after the convention ends that day. Uh but like I said, it's gonna be a very good time. And I'd highly recommend coming out, checking out those live broadcasts, doing our meet and greets, coming out to our events. It'll be a jam-packed weekend that you will not want to miss. So come check us out. With that being said, we have a few more stories that I want to get into before the show. You're like, oh, more stories. Yeah, you know, that's that's the job of a local political show. I know, I know, I know. We're
Church Shooting And Gun Debate
SPEAKER_13getting into it. Let's kick it off uh with a story about a pastor's daughter uh who was shot arriving home from church. This is a pretty crazy story. So uh this is a sort of chaotic situation involving three people who recently attended the same church in East Houston. Now a man is accused of shooting a 19-year-old woman outside of her East Houston home. He allegedly confronted her outside her house after she returned home from a church service. The shooting happened around 9 37 PM. The victim's boyfriend reportedly witnessed the shooting. After the shots were fired, he ran over the suspect in a reported attempt to defend his partner and disarm the suspect, who's been identified, by the way, as Emmanuel Merrin. Now, Marin is facing charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony, according to the DA's office. Um, apparently, through accounts of neighbors and public records, the victim was a daughter of a pastor of a nearby church. Marin had recently been asked to stop attending the church a month ago after his demeanor was deemed unacceptable. So they basically kicked him out of the church. They're like, Yeah, this is not working, you're you're having issues here. Investigators said the woman had just arrived home when she encountered this guy on the property. During a verbal confrontation, she tried to run away, shots were fired, one round struck her in the shoulder as she attempted to leave the scene in her vehicle. The vehicle was later transported to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Now, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the victim's boyfriend, who was following her in a separate vehicle, witnessed the shooting unfold. In an effort to stop the suspect, he struck him with his car. Mayor was later transported to a hospital and treated for injuries sustained from the vehicle. He was treated and released into Harris County Sheriff's Office custody. Um and so they've also been investigating uh the sort of church, not in the sense that they're investigating the church, but investigating the area, finding out why he was kicked out, what led to all of this violence, kind of trying to get some sort of motive. And so this the investigation raids active as they're trying to piece up uh the events that led to the shooting. Uh, but nevertheless, this is a crazy story. And of course, as the left does, this will inevitably turn into a moment of, well, see? You know why this happened? You know why she got hurt and almost killed? Because of guns. That's the that's the issue. I saw a video the other day. It was very funny. It was this guy who's who's on the autism spectrum. Uh and they were making a video, and uh he's standing there, and his mom is taking this video and she's saying, Look how literal my son is. And she says, You know, guns are guns are dangerous. Knives are dangerous, you gotta be very careful. Uh they're very dangerous. And he says, No, they're not. She says, What are you talking about? He says, They're not dangerous at all. He he picks the knife up and and he's holding it. He's like, I could stab you right now. She goes, What are you saying? He's like, Could I not? I could. And then he sets it down, he says, Stab her. Come on, knife, get up and stab her. He's like, It's not working. You want to know why it's not working? Because a knife isn't dangerous. The person wielding it is. And I immediately liked that video. I was like, Yeah, that's that's exactly our point when it comes to guns. Guns are merely a tool. And you can use them for good or you can use them for evil. That's obviously true. And it just so happens that they also happen to be God bearing them happen to be a God-given right. And what you cannot and should not do is take away that right because bad guys like this are gonna shoot people, they're gonna do bad things with the tools they have at their disposal. You take away guns, I promise you, look over look over at a lot of Europe right now. With the mass immigration they've done, they have so many problems with sexual assaults and rapes and violence and everything else. And yeah, they don't really have a gun issue. So what's going on over there? Oh, shocker, taking away the guns didn't change much. In fact, if anything, now the people are unarmed and incapable of defending themselves well from these would-be attackers. And so I think it's very important that here in America we keep those rights, but that requires fighting for them. It requires people dedicated to that cause to make sure that those rights stick around. And that would be our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. Gun owners of America understands that when the Constitution says shall not be infringed, it means shall not be infringed. That's why they're the really only big gun lobby in the US that truly believes in no compromise. And they they, of course, that gets applied in a variety of ways. We've talked about it, but they'll campaign for good candidates, which by nature means they're campaigning against bad candidates. The same sort of dichotomy, they lobby for good bills. Once we get in the legislative session, I know it may seem easy because, oh, well, lobby for that one. Don't lobby for that one, but it requires knowing what bills are going to be out there, showing up, getting testifiers out there. It requires mass amounts of research. They're already researching for the next legislative session. They happen. Really, uh at the end of each legislative session, they start researching the next one. So it requires a ton of effort year round to continue the lobbying efforts. And then, of course, any lawsuits that pop up, if they need to sue the government when they overstep their their boundaries and start becoming tyrannical and and violating your constitutional rights. So if you'd like to support them and all that they do, you can go to goahahuston.com. That is geoahuston.com. And it's a twenty-five dollar annual membership, twenty-five bucks per year, which goes right back to the fight for your God-given constitutionally enshrined rights. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we are going to jump over and we're going to talk a little bit uh about the Texas Agriculture Commissioner who's now called for a pause on the collections of our gas tax. Uh, we'll talk more about the details of that, why that's sort of happening, what that might mean, uh, what if it's a recommendation, if it's actual authority, all of those sorts of questions we'll answer in the next segment. If you have any other questions that you'd like to have answered, feel free to text in. Let us know. You can always text in at 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Sid Miller Urges Gas Tax Pause
SPEAKER_13As we get into this, this is a pretty wild turn of events. So Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is urging Governor Greg Abbott to suspend the state's motor fuel tax as gas prices climb. He said, Governor Abbott, it's time to act decisively and suspend the Texas gas tax now. Uh he said, not next legislative session, not after another study, now. Miller argued that every increase at the pump is directly hitting Texans' wallets, which duh. He said every extra dollar working Texans spend on fuel is like a dollar taken from their bottom line. Suspending this tax is one of the fastest and most effective steps we can take to support Texas families. The call comes as gas prices in Texas now average around three dollars and seventy-seven cents per gallon. The state collects twenty cents per gallon in motor fuel taxes, fifteen cents allocated to the state highway fund, and five cents to public education. In other words, about 40 cents for every gallon. So we could bring that cost down immediately to like 337. Now, of course, gas prices continue to rise. You could end up in the same boat again anyway, but it would be an immediate help. Uh Miller pointed to other states as examples, saying Indiana and Georgia have already suspended their gas taxation. Texas, the nation's energy and agricultural powerhouse, should be leading the way. For comparison, the gas tax in Georgia is 33 cents per gallon and around 18 cents in Indiana. He also argued the state has the financial capacity to act stating we have a strong economy and a healthy rainy day fund. There is no excuse for state government to keep patting its accounts. Our families struggle to fill their tanks and feed their kids. The spike in fuel costs, of course, we all kind of know where part of that's coming from, given the ongoing U.S. military action in Iran, which has really kind of disrupted global oil supply. Of course, Trump has come out and said it's it's temporary, it'll go back down. Uh he said and by the way, Miller said, I stay 100% with President Trump in his fight to restore American energy dominance, stabilize global markets, and ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. But Texas leaders must do the same by delivering real relief right here at home. Miller warned that failing to act would worsen economic strain, adding, This is about survival for many Texans. Failure to temporarily suspend the fuel tax now will only drive up costs for every family. And so the request follows Miller's loss in last month's Republican primary, to of course mate sheets. Um, and he will be, you know, in that position until the new the new start of the next year in January of 2027. Uh so even though he lost election, he'll still be in there for a while. But I wanted to bring up this story because I think it presents uh a really interesting perspective on the role of government. We I I think most of us on this show are big, shall we say, anti-welfare state people. I don't like how many things the government has dipped its toes in. The government should not be paying for other people's groceries, right? I think that should be obvious. It should be evident. And so we understand that. Now you can balance that with the with the fact that the government has a duty to provide as much as it can for its citizens while maintaining inside its bounds, right? Because there is a vast difference, let's be clear, there is a vast difference between you taking my tax dollars and giving it to someone else for the explicit purpose of buying them the buying them food. That is very different from you lowering everybody's tax rate. From you lowering everybody's taxes on any on any sort. Whether you lower the sales tax, you lower the property tax, you lower the you know, the the I guess tax doesn't have an income tax, but you lower the federal income tax or you take away other taxes like a gas tax. All of those are immediate versions of relief that the government can do, maintaining its role, staying within the boundaries that is set up for government and while still providing a level of, we'll say, welfare for people, right? It's not really welfare because it's not coming from tax dollars. It's actually interestingly enough coming from the lack of tax dollars. By by lowering taxes for people, we're contributing to aiding in that relief. Now, of course, uh the government absolutely hates doing that. To be very clear, uh the government has never, never been a fan of lowering taxes. Every everybody that's promised to do it, uh, you find out that they have some special interest vested in not doing it, right? And that happens literally all the time. That you you you hear somebody say, we're gonna get in, we're really gonna lower taxes. And then you you hear, we're gonna lower property ice, we're gonna lower this, we're gonna lower that. And they've been in for a decade, and you say, So how much have they been lowered? You're like, well, they've they've gone up a little, but you compare inflation and it's only gone up by like a little bit. So you didn't do what you promised you'd do. And you could make whatever excuses you want about your level of authority. You can do that all day long. But at the end of the day, the government is really bad at self-castoring. It's really bad at just saying, hey, you know what, we need a pay decrease. You know what? We actually need to be demoted. You know what? We actually need to stop spending so much money so we can stop charging so much money. The government is an abysmal failure in that regard on every form of taxation. So if I had to guess the odds of them actually like pausing the gas tax, I'm hoping uh if George and Indiana hadn't done it, I'd put it squarely around 10%. The fact that George and Indiana has done it, maybe there's an argument that we can do this. See, other states are doing it. Do you care about your people like like those states do? You should. Uh, that maybe there's like a 50-50 shot. I would love to see this happen. It's not on my expected list of things that I think will actually come. Uh, but I I would love to see this happen because I think it would reinvigorate people to say, hey, you know what? Maybe our government is going to do good things. You know, maybe they do care about the people. You know, that ultimately is the entire role of government. I know that we play it out in terms of actual policy, and we look and say, okay, so what does that look like? Which rights can we fight for? What is the First Amendment qualify under? What does the Fourth Amendment look like? How can local government deal with law enforcement and these sorts of things? We talk about all these specific policies, but the ultimate role of government should and can be boiled down ultimately to caring about its citizens. That means that Houston local government should care about Houstonians. That means that Texas government should care about Texans, and that means that American government should care about you got it, Americans. And a lot of people have lost faith that our government is capable of that. In the way that they run the tax system, in the way that they've prioritized illegal immigrants, in the way that they've allowed Marxists into our country, mass immigration, in the way that we've continually had to deal with all of these sorts of bad policies that are very obviously intended to dismantle Western civilization. I think it's very clear that our government for many years has not cared about us at local, state, and federal levels. But I think we're finally seeing a return. I think there is a massive movement to call explicitly for government to return to that role. I've seen it uh at the state, local, and federal levels, by the way. I've heard a lot of people who are saying, America first, stop supporting Ukraine, stop supporting foreign governments with our tax dollars, right? I've heard a lot of people at the state level who've said, hey, Texas, stop with the H1B stuff, stop with the mass immigration, stop with the Islamification of Texas. Even at the local level, the fact that people are so upset that we're not working with ICE. The people are so upset that we become a sanctuary city, the people are very upset uh when we had that legal fund for illegal aliens who are being charged in immigration court. The fact that we had so much uprising and so much backlash for those things tells me that our country, I think, is really starting to move in a new direction again. One where the role of government is very clear and all of it in specificity falls under the general banner of caring about your people first and foremost. Now with that being said, we still have a few stories left to get to. Still have a couple segments to go. And to kick it off in the next segment, we're gonna jump over and we're gonna talk about a Montgomery County Uber driver. Like Uber? What's going on with Uber? Well, this is part of the danger of having organizations, companies like this uh in a country where we don't have a great justice system. You know, if we had a great justice system, really like El Salvador does now, uh, we could have a pleas like Uber without a lot of concern. Unfortunately, because people know they're not gonna get harshly punished, they do insane things. So we have this Uber driver, right, in Montgomery County, uh, who's being accused of soliciting teenage boys that he met during Uber rides. I mean, just an absolutely insane, gross, perverted story. But we'll talk about it when we get back from the break. As always, if you would like to text in the show, you know, let us know your thoughts on anything we're covering. Or maybe we have a disagreement. You know, I said something you said, oh man, I know the government should prioritize itself first, but sometimes we have to support for a government. We have a disagreement. Totally fine. Feel free to bring it up. Text me. Text into the show. The number is 713-779-5978. One more time. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative, but don't go anywhere because we'll be talking all about the Montgomery County Uber driver. We'll talk a little bit more about the NRA uh one more time before we kind of get close to the wrap-up of the show to make sure you guys know where to go, how to get those tickets, how to come out and see us, come to our events, etc. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and I'll be right back in the next segment.

SPEAKER_21The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_04If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Uber Driver Accused Of Soliciting Minors
SPEAKER_13What do I mean by that? Not that the concept of justice can change, but I think that the way that we implement it can change day to day. And and really not really day to day, but more year to year, decade to decade, century to century, country to country. I think what you'd have to do to deal with the criminal crisis in El Salvador is going to be different from what you'd have to do to deal with the criminal crisis in, say, England. What you'd have to do to deal with the criminal crisis in Singapore is going to be different than what you'd have to do uh to deal with the criminal crisis in somewhere like Canada, right? Countries have different groups of people that behave differently, desire different things, commit different crimes. And and that's true. That's ha that's how life works, that's how nature works. We have a variety of sins. And America, if we're gonna deal with crime correctly right now, and this didn't have to be the case a hundred years ago, we didn't have strict penalties, but it's different because we didn't often have to use them like we do now. We need to be very, very strict. Maybe perhaps stricter than we've ever been in American history when it comes to our policy. And what I mean by that is take a look at this guy out in Montgomery County. Uh, he's facing, of course, multiple felony charges after investigators say that he used Uber rideshare encounters to contact and allegedly solicit minors. According to the Montgomery County Precinct One Constable's office, Josiah Carroll, who's 28 years old, was arrested following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Now, Carroll faces felony charges of online solicitation of a minor under the age of 14. Was it like he had a 17-year-old on a ride and thought could be 18? No, this was under the age of 14. As well as solicitation of prostitution of a minor. Carroll is also known to have connections to the Kingwood area. Um Montgomery County Pricing One official said the case began when investigators received a complaint alleging that an Uber driver had sent sexually explicit images to a thirteen-year-old boy. According to court records, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to a call they received from a convenience store in Montgomery. The call involved a thirteen-year-old boy who claimed he was receiving unsolicited explicit images via text messages from a man he met during an Uber ride. The teen said he had used Uber to get a ride home from a friend's house roughly two weeks prior to this stuff happening. Now, during the ride, the driver, who was identified on the app as Josiah, exchanged phone numbers with the boy, reportedly offering to give him a ride at a discount if he, you know, contacted him outside of the Uber platform, which just to be clear is not inherently a problem. Right. In fact, sometimes it's a good thing. If I'll give you an example of this, you might pay fifty dollars for a certain Uber ride, of which the person that's driving you gets to keep 15. Well, where does that extra forty-five $35 go? Oh, yeah, it goes to the company. Well, what if they offer to give you the ride for $30? They make double and you save almost half. It's like a win-win. So I get that. Uh that's not inevitably what happened, though. He did not reach out to give him a discounted Uber ride. Four days after the ride, the suspect texted the teen an image of his face. Rucker Joey asked the victim how old he was, later saying, You're pretty mature for your age. I never would have guessed. If anyone ever says that to your kid, you're pretty mature for your age, just shoot him in the face. I mean, I I that's hyperbole, that's not legal advice. Don't do that. But think about it. Because if some if ever if anyone came up to either of my children, any of the children that God gives me, and said, Hey, you're pretty mature for your age. I'm immediately knocking the teeth out of that guy. I mean, maybe I'm not shooting him. I'll take assault charges. That guy's getting his teeth knocked in. I don't know what else it's. That's not that's insane. And so the teens said Carol asked for his Instagram profile and followed him on an account that wasn't linked to Carol's neighbor identity, sort of fake Instagram account. Now, from there, Carol allegedly began sending unsolicited explicit images of male genitalia. The suspect also allegedly tried to arrange meetups with the teen at a nearby grocery store parking lot. The victim's mother confirmed that her son had been receiving the unsolicited communication. She added that she was aware of another teenager who had also reported similar behavior from Carol on Snapchat. Although the additional allegation has been has not yet been verified by law enforcement, they they they've the only charges he's facing is for this Instagram singular teen debacle. They've not looked into the Snapchat teenager. Nevertheless, officials investigated the incidents and linked the suspected phone number to Carol. Obviously. He also sent a picture of his face. What more do you need? And so they also, of course, through the incidents, found out that the phone numbers his and arrest warrant wasn't obtained. He was taken into custody by preaching one deputies. And as a result, Carol was charged with online solicitation of a minor, which is a second degree felony under Texas law. Now, as the investigation continued to unfold, they also found a second victim. A detective of the Magnolia Police Department had received a separate complaint from another parent involving a similar incident. A 16-year-old boy who spoke with them regarding new allegations against that Uber driver. The mother said she signed her son up for a teen account. He had used the service earlier that week to book a ride to a Magnolia fast food restaurant where he worked. During the ride, the mother said her son described the driver as very talkative, asking him about school and his age. I wonder if he said you're very mature for your age again. That's his pickup line. The driver reportedly told the teen that his mother had recently passed and that Uber was taking a majority of the fare from his rides. Because of those circumstances, the teen agreed to text the driver when he needed to ride home for work from work for $20 cash later that day. Later that night, the driver reportedly sent the teen text messages from the same number as the first victim. In the text, the driver called the boy really attractive, adding that he would be willing to perform a sexual act on him during the subsequent car ride if the teen was interested. He said, low-key, you could hold on to the $20 if you wanted. Ew. I mean genuinely disgusting. The teen told the driver he wasn't interested and threatened to report him to Uber. The driver reportedly replied, It doesn't matter, you're 17. That's the legal age of consent in Texas, which is crazy because he wasn't even said he told you he's 16. But you bumped it up a year, so you could pretend like you forgot, so you couldn't get in trouble. Now, yesterday afternoon, uh there was an update which announced his arrest, identifying as an alumni of Kingwood Park High School. Um, and so basically uh he was apparently a diamond tier driver with Uber, uh, which I don't know how much work you have to do to reach diamond tier, but he had amassed more than 2,000 five-star ratings as of September of 2024. He also lists several other jobs and accomplishments, including reported involvement in a project leading the fight against a multi-billion dollar development in Kingwood. Um, and so they also have Facebook posts. He was standing with Dan Crenshaw at a community meeting. And so uh basically he's kind of fallen off the radar since that period of time, ended up driving for Uber, and apparently became a homosexual pedophile over the few years. He kind of disappeared. I I don't know whether that happened. I could actually, you know what, I could tell you how that happened. It's the same way it happens in all of these cases. Porn. I I I I I it is so easy. I could guarantee you, you go to his internet records that his his his his d his data history, his browsing history, uh, even the deleted stuff, which you can find. I guarantee you you're gonna find heavy pornographic usage. I can I could guarantee I would bet money, a lot of money, on that. Because that's always how it goes. Pornography rots your brain and it does stuff like this. But I kicked off the segment saying justice, right? What needs to happen? I think there is a very fair argument, a very, very fair argument to be made that this 28-year-old should be given the death penalty. You are soliciting minors, children online, a 13-year-old boy? I mean, it is unnatural, it is perverted, it is disgusting. And if we want to root stuff like this out of our country, which I think we all do, right? If you don't, raise your hand and we can throw you in jail too. Because if you don't want to root this stuff out of our country, I automatically assume that you're like actually a crazy person. We all want to root this out of our country, but that's going to require extreme measures because it's become commonplace. We've accepted this stuff. They've tried saying, you know, minor attracted person. Oh, it's it's just the LGBTQ. It's just totally fine if you're insane. No.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_13I've said the same thing about gay men being surrogate, like getting a surrogate and having having boys. It turns out, like so many of those cases, they end up abusing the little boys. Insanity that our country would ever allow that. That's sex trafficking. It's exactly what that is. It's human trafficking. When two gay men get a surrogate and then and then a it's it's it's literally buying a child. And it's disgusting. And if we're gonna fix this, it is inevitably going to require that we take extreme measures to combat the level of sort of mold that's grown out of this. It's not gonna happen if we just say, oh, throw him in jail for a couple years. That'll teach him. No, it won't. No, it won't. And in fact, on top of not teaching him, he'll also now have a criminal record, so even less. And now he's experienced jail, so it's not like he's terrified to go back. He's now been, he knows what it's like. He's actually more likely, by the numbers and by the logic, to go back to jail a second time, just kill him. I I don't know why we're deliberating about this, why our country has taken such a turn. In any other time, if you other than like friggin' stupid era Greece where they were being freaks, in any other time you you see a grown man being with a a 13-year-old boy or attempting to be, that would have been like mob justice. Um I mean, it wouldn't have even gone to the courts before they hung him. And the only reason we want the courts now is because we want due process, because we understand it's important to verify the facts. But if he's convicted, there should be no question that things like this get the death penalty. You can't have this guy back in civilization and common culture again. It doesn't work. You want a guy that's willing to like try to perform sexual acts on a 13-year-old boy back out again in five years? No, absolutely not. Especially not where I live. Goodness gracious. With that being said, uh, to wrap up the show, when we get back from the break, uh, the Texas and the FTC have reached a settlement with these big ad giants over the alleged collusion, which was targeting media outlets. We'll talk more about the details of that agreement. Uh federal regulars basically say that major ad companies were coordinating brand safety standards that reduced competition, basically made like this conglomerate monopoly and cut off ad revenue to certain publishers. And we'll talk about what that agreement reached, what that means, et cetera, et cetera, when we get back from the break. As always, if you'd like to text in, this is your final opportunity. The number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'll be right back to wrap up the show after this break. Ad Giants Settlement And Monopolies
SPEAKER_13As we wrap up the show this morning, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxson and the Federal Trade Commission announced a multi-state lawsuit and proposed settlement with major advertising firms accused of coordinating efforts to restrict digital ad revenue tied to certain viewpoints. Now, the lawsuit, filed in federal court in North Texas, targets Densu, U.S. Inc., Group Im Worldwide, LLC, and Publicist Inc., alleging they unlawfully colluded to impose shared brand safety standards across the digital advertising market. Uh monopolies are bad. We don't have time to get into the rest of the story. But I just wanted to highlight that it is important for the government to have certain regulations. Oh, it's the free market. If you think that it should be entirely free with no regulations, it's crazy. That's a libertarian perspective, and it never works because it assumes that man is inherently good and man is not. Man is actually inherently evil apart from the grace of God. And the government's job is to punish evil and to protect the innocent. And that means stopping things like monopolies. Even when you say, well, that's a violation of totally free trade. That's right. Yeah, we have laws because laws are good, especially when things are being done behind the closed doors that are evil. To wrap up the show, we had a text and it says, The failed just system, Isaiah 520, woe to those who call it good, evil, and evil good. Thank you for speaking about it as often as you do. Prayers for your words to be heard. And prayers for my words to stay true, by the way, too. I I appreciate your prayers genuinely, like actual prayers, please. Uh but prayers that my words would not only be heard, but they would stay true. Because I've seen so many who've gone off the rails, uh, who don't remain balanced, who don't seem to care about the truth, or or who will trade having a high number of listeners uh being massively influential in
Closing Thanks And Prayer Request
SPEAKER_13exchange for not speaking the truth. So prayers that I would never do that. I won't, don't worry. And that'll do it for the show today. I want to thank everyone for tuning in. You've been listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Hopefully, I'll see you guys tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. and then see you at the NRA convention.
