Houston’s ICE Fight, A Small-Town Scandal, And A Grid Under Pressure
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Houston is hosting a massive NRA Annual Meeting weekend, and we’re using it as a launchpad to talk about what’s happening across Texas when the headlines move from “events to attend” to “policies that change daily life.” I walk you through how to catch our live broadcasts from the convention floor, what to expect from the Voices of 2A section, and why these meetups matter for Second Amendment organizing and the gun community in Houston.
Then the show turns hard into the news: a major Magnolia, Texas update as city secretary Christian Gable publicly describes her allegations and the chain of decisions that followed. We also break down a new US House vote on the FENCES Act and why Texas lawmakers argue states should not be punished under the Clean Air Act for foreign pollution and exceptional events like wildfires and dust storms.
Charles Blaine from Urban Reform joins for a fast, detailed Houston politics recap, including the HPD-ICE ordinance, the $110M-plus funding threat, and how Dallas and Austin fit into the bigger sanctuary policy fight. We also hit Harris County Commissioner’s Court drama and why immigration enforcement debates are getting pushed and pulled by state pressure.
Finally, we dig into ERCOT’s long-term load forecast and why data centers and crypto mining could reshape the Texas power grid, electricity prices, and the definition of “progress.” If you care about Houston local news, Texas energy policy, immigration enforcement, and the Second Amendment, this one connects the dots.

NRA Weekend Plans And Passes
SPEAKER_08From D in the Heart of Texas, it's Houston's Giling Patridge in the voice of reason.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. And ladies and gentlemen, we made it. We made it to the end of another week. It is now a Friday. Now, for some of us, that puts an end to our week. For others, uh it's really just the start. And what I mean by that is not I'm not just talking about your run-of-the-mill average weekend worker. No, no. I'm speaking particularly about the fact that we have a massive convention in town that I'm sure for many people ends up being uh nearly a year's worth of business in terms of who they get to meet, who they get to network with, which companies they get to work alongside, all of those sorts of things. And of course, I'm speaking on the NRA annual meeting. Now, I'll give this to you now and I'll give it to you at the end of my little spiel. But if you want to buy a weekend pass, that that website that you can go to for that is NRAM.org. That is n-ra-a-a-m.org. You can go to that website, it'll have all the details, or you can get your your your what weekend pass to come, you know, today, tomorrow, et cetera. And I highly encourage you to do that. Now let's talk a little bit about what's going on at the N-R-A-A-M, the annual meeting. First and foremost, Patriot Talk is going to be out there all weekend long. And by the way, right across from us, we actually were looking at it yesterday, the booth, it's not directly across. So I'm gonna you're gonna show and be like, you said it was directly. It's not, it's not directly across. It's right across and to the right. So if I'm standing facing straight out of our booth and I turn just a couple degrees to the right, I'm facing Gun Talk. Uh we actually had Tom Gresham from Gun Talk on uh just a couple days ago talking about the upcoming NRA. We're in the voices of 2A section there in the exhibitor hall. And uh we got set up yesterday, had a great time, helping some other people out, some other folks. And so we have all this going on all weekend. Patriot Talk 920 will be there in some shape or form. We'll be hanging out, getting to know you guys, talking to a lot of the gun manufacturers, producers, ammo companies, et cetera. In fact, I'm actually doing another live broadcast today from 4 to 6 p.m. Now, listen, you can tune into that, and we'd love for you to tune into that, or you can buy your weekend pass at nraam.org, and then you can come and see it performed live. I will be doing that live from our booth at the NRA convention later today. And part of what you're gonna get out of that, that live broadcast that's a little bit special is that because we're broadcasting from the NRA, a lot of that's gonna be filled with different interviews uh from maybe gun makers or ammo companies, et cetera. You kind of get the gist. It'll be very, very interview style in terms of the afternoon show today from 4 to 6 p.m. So I'd highly encourage you guys to either tune in as you would the normal show or come on out to the NRA annual convention and we'd love to have you by our booth from 4 to 6 p.m. It kind of conflicts actually because from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m., I know I'm giving you lots of things. I hope you're taking notes. Hope you have like a pen and paper, because this weekend is jam-packed. From 5 to 7.30 p.m., we're going to have our Second Amendment social, which of course is at Collector's Firearms, uh, Patriarch 920, that's our event. Uh, we're gonna do some raffles for some 2A special edition bourbon. We're gonna do a raffle for a six-sour handgun, uh, free food, free drinks, you get the idea. Plus hanging out, networking, a ton of people from the voices of 2A, Second Amendment supporters, and so on and so forth. We'd love to have you out there. You can go to 920gun.com if you want to learn more about that event. And we'd love to have you at our evening event Saturday. I know, but wait, there's more. Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., we are going to have none other than the armed attorneys. That's Emily Taylor and uh Mr. Hayes here at our booth to go over everything to do with Second Amendment. They're doing like a meet and greet with anybody that wants to stop by the booth. Uh phenomenal pair of people that do a lot of work for the Second Amendment. And then I'll be doing another live broadcast tomorrow from 11 a.m. to noon. Then again, you can either tune in the way you normally would, whether that's on your radio, your website, or your app, or you can actually come to the annual meeting and uh check out that broadcast live from our Patriot Talk 920 booth. Now, we've sort of got through the uh the prelude. I say that because it's very important that you guys know what's going on this weekend. Particularly because I got multiple texts in. This is part of why I'm doing this. I got multiple texts in from a variety of people, both on Airtime and not on Airtime, who asked why I did not tell people that there was a massive Jesus event week long going on at a big at a big church in Manville. I got I got so many asks from people, hey, why didn't you tell us they were doing free food, free shirts, big concert, massive drone show, preaching the gospel, people getting baptized? Why didn't we know about that? And I said, my apologies. I will make sure that any big event we have, or maybe even small event, I will keep you guys posted. I will make sure to the best of my ability, if I know about it, you know about it. And the NRA, if you want to talk about big events, the NRA is certainly on the list. Gonna be one of the biggest events, especially for us. Here here at Patriot Talk 920, our our listeners, you don't get much more Patriot Talk 920 than a massive gun convention in Houston. And so I don't want to I don't want to come on the show Monday and say, man, what a great NRA convention. And I get texted and excuse me, you didn't tell us. I I don't read the news, I just get it from you. I forgot, I didn't know when the dates were. I'd have bought a weekend pass coming and seeing you guys. You didn't tell us. Well, I'm telling you, and I've told you multiple times this week, I'm saying it, I'm giving the first part of the show a dedicated little bit of time here to talk about it. That is, I just want to make sure you guys have the link. If if you would like to attend, if you would like to come out to the NRA annual meeting, it's very easy to remember because it's the NRA annual meeting. The NRAAM.org. That is NRAAM.org. Very easy to remember. And just as a quick little reminder, tomorrow today I'll be live from 4 to 6 p.m. I will be at an event this evening from 5.30 to I won't be there from 5.30 to 7.30. I should be careful all I word that because obviously I'm doing the show till six. I'll be there from like 6 30, 7 30. We have an event from 5 30 to 7 30, our second social with some free raffels, free food, free dinks. Tomorrow I'll be live again. We'll have a meet and greet, so much stuff. We'll talk about it a little bit more probably later this morning. And then again, of course, during the afternoon show, just to remind everybody. Uh but in the meantime, that is n-ram.org if you would like to come to the NRA convention. You can also register for our Second Amendment social at 920gun.com. With that being said, let's go ahead and kick it off with uh some updates coming out. And and by the way, today is Friday, which means, of course, that we are likely going to have Charles Blaine coming on at the top of the second hour. But I'm sure the reason I bring that up I'm sure given what happened with City Council this week, uh really city council and Harris County, I'm somewhat very sure that Charles will be going over with us what happened at City Council, what's going on with Ken Paxson's lawsuit against Houston now, uh, funds possibly being revoked from Dallas and Austin as well as Houston, the deadline extended, Mayor Whitmeyer calling for a special meeting, Harris County taking up, potentially looking at all this. I I I'll kind of tease all of that because to be to be completely honest, I'm assuming Charles will talk. If he doesn't, then then after Charles' segment, we will go over all of the new details regarding everything to do with IC. But otherwise, we have plenty of big stories to dive into throughout the rest of this morning before that time comes.
Ex-FBI Warning On Sharia
SPEAKER_17So we'll just kick it off talking a little bit about this uh former FBI agent who has come out and uh we've actually had him on the show before. So you guys might remember the name John Guandola, phenomenal guy, by the way. And he's kind of warning of this jihad, which he did on our show, but he's now actually gotten to speak specifically with the Texas GOP chairman, which is very encouraging, by the way. The reason I think this news is so big is that, yeah, he's been worrying about this stuff for years. Yes, we've had him on the show. Yes, you guys probably remember a lot of the details as to what we went over, what a lot of the issues are, and that's pn that's great. And we want to continue to have guests like that on the show. We want to educate our listeners. We also have to make sure that we have these people politically involved, that they can make a difference in our party, in what our party kind of not just believes, but fights for policy-wise, which means getting into the House, the Senate, the governor's office. And uh that requires knowing people like Abraham George, right? That requires being able to have a meeting and start going over, hey, here are the issues that are going on here in the state of Texas. You're the Republican Party, you're kind of the last line of defense here against this massive jihadist threat. Maybe you should consider hearing out what I what I know and what I've learned in regards to the jihad going on in our own walls. Now, in an interview, uh John kind of came out and he shared some very important light on Sharia law here in Texas, as well as, as we've discussed with them before, the sort of Islamic agenda, which is sort of synonymous with Sharia law in a sense. It's also a little different because the goal, uh it's like a precursor. The goal of Islamic, the Islamic agenda, the goal of it long term is the subjugation of everyone to Sharia law. Nevertheless, uh he kind of came out and he he told George, he said that he came to understand through investigations that there is a massive jihadi network and movement in the United States. He went on to add that most of these infiltrators are nonviolent and that the invasion is much more an espionage counterintelligence subversion rather than an all-out war. However, Guadolo said he believed it will go Connecticut in a big way to the United States, but not yet. When asked if he had ever anticipated that Zoran Mamdani, an outspoken Muslim, would ever be mayor of a post-9-11 New York City, stated, sadly, yes, this is how they operate. Mamdani is a jihadi, he supports jihadis, he's wearing a suit, and this is the problem. Regarding Sharia law, he kind of came out and said it is simply according to Islam, Allah's law. And because Muslims believe it is the perfect law for all humans for all times, it must then by extension be imposed on the earth. And by the way, we actually do you can't fault them. I mean you can't. Let me rephrase that. You can't fault the strategy. Let me put it that way. What I mean by that is obviously their law is evil. Obviously, their law is unjustifiable and immoral. But the means by which you believe the law applies, well, that's a different story. Because we ex we as Christians actually do believe the same. Uh that governments, in the same way that people are, are bound to obey the law of God, that they are called to do that. And when they don't, that often means judgment for nations. And so, of course, we do believe that the Bible should be the standard for all countries. Now, of course, we don't go bombing places to get it to be. Obviously, we have a slightly different strategy for how we achieve our Great Commission. We don't we don't bomb countries and commit acts of terrorism and and what have you. But we do believe ultimately that all are in subjection to the God of the Bible. We do believe that all all every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Christ is Lord. We do believe that. And so by nature, we do believe that everyone should be following his law. So we kind of believe the same thing, except they believe in a pagan demon god that calls them to bomb people, and we believe in an all-loving, all merciful, all just God who calls us uh to to preach the gospel. And so that's that's the major difference there. Just wanted to highlight the similarities because there's very few. In order to counter the claim that true Islam is a peaceful religion, he also pointed out that the most widely used tabletop book of Islamic law in North America states that one of the three duties of a Muslim is jihad. Which was, of course, accompanied by a picture of a military tank in this elementary age book. They show you a picture of a tank and says one of the three main objectives you have is jihad. I mean, they they're they're open and honest about this stuff. He also told uh the chairman of the GOP he said that this information is routinely taught to children as young as seventh grade, and the book was formerly found in the Muslim prayer robe at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo. In discussing the relationship between religious freedom in America and Sharia law in Texas, Guanola said it was just stupid to think that Americans are constitutionally required to allow Sharia law on a democratic basis. He said, Are you saying the Constitution says that if someone is trying to discard the founding principles, the Constitution and Federal Law, the Constitution allows for that? That's not that's just not sane thinking. Now, he also said that any talk of state of the Constitution could be replaced by Sharia through a democratic process is traitorous talk. He said the Constitution requires an oath to be taken when people get elected, and the fidelity to that oath means that you will do everything within your authority to ensure nothing overthrows the Constitution. Now I will highlight here just for a moment, interestingly enough, if you take his claim to fruition, he's actually pretty radical here, and I don't mean that in a bad way, that's a compliment. What I mean by that, essentially, is that if you believe that Sharia should not be allowed to overtake the Constitution even through democratic processes, right? Even if you have such a mass majority Muslims in in the legislature and Congress, what have you, that they can get a two-thirds vote to produce amendments or strike down former you know, what have you. If you believe that shouldn't even be possible, if you believe that there shouldn't be the option to do that, then you don't actually believe ultimately in religious freedom. You don't believe in a pure Republican democracy either. You believe that there are higher principles which the government is called to, higher than the will of the people, even. Higher than religious freedom. Now I believe that, but I know that I'm on the fringe of that issue. And I don't think that's gonna be true in fifty years. We're gonna continue to see more divides, more fights break out. I I think in fifty years my kids, my grandkids are gonna be probably even further to the right than I am. But as of today, your average Republican is not gonna be on board with some of what I'm about to say, which is yeah, Sharia law has no place here. And I don't you can get your your BS, you know, stupid First Amendment religious freedom out of here because you have no idea what you're talking about. The First Amendment was never written I mean it's wrong on two different in two different ways. It was never written for the states, and it was certainly never written to protect Islam. It was protected, it was written to protect Baptists. Okay, it was written to protect Quakers and Puritans and Presbyterians. It was never intended to protect people of what the founding fathers would have called paganism because they didn't they didn't even really have other religions in their country. It was such a minority, it wasn't even a minority, it was like less than 1%. It was not even noticeable. And even then, most of them were agnostic or deistic. And so they just viewed every other religion as foreign and pagan. It would never even qualify really as a religion in their mind. And so when they're talking about, well, you have the freedom to worship God, as yeah, yeah, who's God? Yeah, ours, the Christian God of the Bible. Yes. And so when you hear all this stuff from Islam and from the mainstream media or on religious freedom, it's all lies, it's all a facade designed essentially to bully you into laying down your arms, refusing to be a part of fighting back, and allowing your country to be overtaken by foreign invaders and barbarians. That's not what I want. I'm willing to fight and die to stop that. But that requires, as always, our very first step of the equation. What is it? Knowing the truth, being aware of what's going on, exposing the works of darkness, which means talking about how there are over 300 mosques in Islamic schools here in the state of Texas. It means talking about how they are getting their funding from Hamas. It means talking about how Governor Greg Abbott's biggest owner is, well, look it up sometime. It means talking about those things and knowing those things are true, being aware of it so that we can push back and we can fight. With that being said, when we get back from the break, in the next segment, we're gonna jump over because now I guess you guys heard yesterday we talked about the Magnolia mayor, who was, of course, arrested after the Texas Rangers investigation concluded. Well, now the Magnolia City Secretary uh is breaking silence and uh talking about what's going on and and the position and that. We'll talk all about the updated details coming out from the city secretary after the break. As always, if you would like to text into the show, the number never changes. 713-779-5978. SPEAKER_17Welcome
Magnolia Secretary Breaks Silence
SPEAKER_17back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Happy Friday. Once again, very glad to be with you this morning. Very excited, uh, of course, to get into this next story. Major update. Now, for the first time, Magnolia City Secretary Christian Gable is speaking out. If you guys remember, this is the woman who largely accused the mayor of the sexual assault and what have you. And you might think, well, wasn't it her talking out the whole time? No, actually, it was her fiance because she was at home pregnant, you know, really concerned about what was going on, asked to remote work remotely. Nothing had really come from her. All of the stuff was legal, and he was sort of more of the press release, you know, person. But she had not actually had the opportunity to kind of speak out about all of it. And so Gable kind of sat down with the news, the local news here, and uh she also sat alongside former human resources director, Christy Powell. And Gable said, I feel like I've taken every step that I possibly could without speaking out into the public. I've been pretty obedient in the instructions given to me by leadership, but I haven't received the same respect in return. So I've gotten to a point where whatever it takes to bring awareness to the situation, I'm over it. That's really all it comes down to. And so Gable kind of started off by talking about her past relationship with Danzer. And I don't mean past relationship in the sexual sense. She said she has known Danzer for about 10 years. Uh, he was her parents' next door neighbor when he moved back home after when she moved back home after losing her job during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, at the time, Danger was a city council member. And so he came to her and he knew she lost her job as middle of COVID, said, Hey, I can get you a job at the city. And so she said this is sort of a neighborly relationship. Again, he lived by her parents, friendly neighbor, offering to help out since you lost your job, just normal signs of a nice human being. She said, once I started actually working at City Hall, his level of communication was very different from the average person. He's the kind of guy that could take the most casual sentence and warp it into something perverted. They both kind of brush it off as it's normal. So I started to work there, it just became more and more inappropriate. Gable says Danzer repeatedly made sexualized comments, including reference to her reference referring to her as his sexetery. That's not funny at all. I mean, that's not when introducing her to visitors at City Hall. That's actually worse. Okay, it would it would if you just called her that once. Now she's I don't know if she was engaged at the time. That would be different. And if he's married, that would be very different. But a one-off comment would be one thing. But if you're introducing visitors to City Hall, which are your constituents, uh there there should be a level of professionalism in class in the workplace. I mean, what are we doing? He's uh she said it made her feel mostly embarrassed. Uh, she said, I feel like I would have called him out on being inappropriate. I would have been fired that day for embarrassing him. So she felt uncomfortable doing that. Powell said the dancer also made inappropriate comments about her in front of others, so it's not just one person. Uh she said he came in and made a comment about my chest. Now, we got a little bit of background on what happened in Fort Worth back in October where this sort of illegality kind of comes in. Because the other stuff, unprofessional, gross, whatever you want to call it, but probably not going to result. I mean, maybe it would result in a text ranger's investigation, but but more than likely not. Now, after a dinner hosted by a city contractor up in Fort Worth, Danzer offered to walk Gable back to the hotel. Now she agreed, texting her boyfriend to alert him because she says she already knew that Danzer's behavior could become inappropriate. Now, it's kind of a balance there. You're unsafe walking back to your hotel alone. I always recommend that a woman ask someone to walk with her. But you also are kind of worried about the guy that's walking with you. So it doesn't help overly much. I I don't know, it's just kind of a catch-22. She said, I knew it would come if I allowed it. About halfway through the walk, Gable says that Danzer commented on her loose pants she wore because she was five months pregnant. She said Danzer reached over to pull her pants down. There were people walking, there were people driving cars by, cameras surrounding us, and he is comfortable trying to strip my pants from my body out in the open. As they neared the hotel's valet entrance, Gable said she felt relief, believing the ordeal was over. Should I thought I was done for the night? Uh he turns and he pulls me back into the pillow that's separating the valet from the side of the hotel, uses his hand to grab me by the throat and pin me against this pillar, uncontentionally, it caught me totally off guard. When asked what she was going through, what kind of what kind of went through her mind, she just said it was complete shock. She never expected it to get like that. Uh she said the Texas Rangers later showed her surveillance footage and says what she saw was actually worse than what she remembered happening. That she'd actually, in her own mind, sort of made things out, give him as much of the benefit of the doubt as possible. And the actual footage from the event, the events that kind of occurred, showcased something that was arguably worse. She said to watch that back, it's crystal clear. You can see it all over that it it was not what I had expected. She also described something of the footage she had not known about in the moment. There's footage inside the hotel as well, and you can see his attempt to trip me from behind that I wasn't aware of. I was five months pregnant. If I would have landed on my stomach, that's a whole other level of problems. And so despite what she described as a terrifying experience, she says she did not report the incident immediately. She said, I have bills to pay, I have a job to keep, I've been a single mom most of my life. The priority is my family and the security of them. This is behavior that I put up with for so long. I had no intention to report it until I was encouraged by our former HR director. And so she was working at her desk, Danzer entered her office, slammed both ends on her desk, he backs up, starts laughing, just a normal conversation, so nothing had just happened, as if this whole weekend sort of events had not gone on, just moved on, uh, but very obvious that the workplace was not going to get any better for her. And so when the HR director kind of heard about this stuff, she immediately encouraged Gable to report the Fort Worth incident and took the information to the former city administrator, Chris Whitaker, the following morning. She said my initial reaction was, she needs to document this. We have to bring it forward. And so the city hired a third-party attorney to investigate. The investigation was closed without any action, described as inconclusive. Powell said they told us no action taken, nothing was done. I have no idea why. Gable says she was not even officially told the investigation to close. She found out weeks later from the city attorney. She said, I feel like I wasn't being heard. I don't know what else I could say, what else I could do. The claim that my complaint was all word of mouth. What makes his rebuttal any more than just word of mouth? I have concrete evidence that was clearly reviewed by higher authority. Which, by the way, I want to say I said this back when this story originally came out. I said, if we don't have security footage, we'll have to wait and see the result of the Texas Rangers investigation. Because if we don't have the security footage, then it's word of mouth versus word of mouth. And she and she makes an interesting point here. And I get it. I don't want to dwell on this too much because this is kind of irrelevant to the story now. It doesn't matter anymore because there is actual evidence. But she said, Well, what makes his more than just word of mouth? I'll tell you, because in this country, believe in innocent until proven guilty. That's that's the only difference. That's what separates it. So if you and I, uh one of our listeners were hanging out, and you say, Yeah, he made inappropriate comments, and I say, No, I didn't, unless you have evidence that I did, if it mattered in a court setting, they would go with that I had that I didn't say it. Because you are innocent until proven guilty. And since we both only have word of mouth, there's no proof. So I'm uh assumed innocent in a legal sense. Now that's kind of irrelevant. She just made the comment. Uh, kind of she didn't understand what was going on at that point. But since then, um apparently they also faced retaliation. I mean, that was expected, I guess. Powell says she was ostracized, excluded from meetings, called a bully, and told by the court administrator that no one wants you here anyway. Uh Powell also says that Danzer sent text messages to co-workers in terms of them not to trust her, effectively then undermining her role as HR director. And so you also have Gable, who filed a lawsuit, a federal lawsuit, against Danzer and the city alleging failure to investigate as well as retaliation. She says even after his indictment, the city denied her request to work remotely until his term ended in May. Gable said the city told her that because nothing had happened to her since she filed her complaint, there was no justification. I know that potentially he choked you up against a pillar, tried to pull your pants down and trip you, but that was like weeks ago now, and nothing else has happened, so you're good. I think is a an absolutely insane way to look at this case. And so just by the way, he's now been booked into the Tarrant County jail. Uh he has paid his bonds, so he's back out. And his attorney said uh that we categorically deny the allegations, we maintain our innocence, we look forward to the opportunity to defend ourselves in appropriate legal process, all that sort of stuff. Uh you also have the city attorney Leonard Schneider, who's come out and said he's not gonna be commenting on the case because of the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, uh the Magnolia City Council is actually holding a special meeting on April 20th, uh, here coming up on Monday. Mayor Pro Tem Jack Hewitt has called for Danzer's resignation and said the council will discuss his charges during closed executive session. And so we'll see if he faces uh a full resignation at this point. He may just resign. Uh or he may say, no, I that would make me look even more guilty. I am innocent, I'm gonna keep my job. I know we need an interim, pro tem, whatever, while I'm out and indisposed, but I'm innocent. I'm gonna come back to the job. Now we are getting close enough to his resignation anyway. May, if May is the the date that his term ends, what are we doing? Uh you really want to stay in for that long? You might as well just give it to somebody else. With that being said, we're gonna get back to the break. And the next segment we're gonna go over the House, which has now passed uh this bill that targets foreign pollution rules. We'll kind of talk about what that means, why that's important for Americans, uh, where that bill sort of came from, all those sort of details when we get back from the break. As always, if you would like to be a part of the show, you can be. Because we have our text in line, ready to go, ready to receive your text. SPEAKER_23The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_04If you are of Medicare AIDS or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

House Moves On Foreign Pollution
SPEAKER_17The U.S. House has passed legislation by Texas Congressman August Fluger aimed at preventing federal regulators from penalizing states for air pollution originating outside the United States. Lawmakers approved the measure, known as the Fences Act, by a vote of 220 to 208, with most Republicans supporting the bill and most Democrats opposing it. And that's going to be the case for almost any bill that goes through, basically ever again. We are such a divided country that uh it's it's gonna be rare for really most of the rest of our country's existence that you're gonna get four hundred votes for something. That's that's basically never gonna happen again. And so Pfluger's proposal would amend the Clean Air Act to clarify that emissions coming from outside U.S. borders cannot be used as areas as failing federal air quality standards. He said American companies are being unfairly penalized for pollution originating outside the United States. These designations delay permits and hurt economic growth while failing to address the very problem they are trying to solve. The legislation specifies that foreign emissions, including those caused by natural events like wildfires or dust storms, must be excluded when determining whether an area meets national air quality standards. It also bars certain federal sanctions or fees when states miss air quality targets due to factors beyond their control, like foreign pollution, exceptional environmental events, or some mo sort of mobile source emissions. Now, supporters say the bill is needed to protect energy-producing regions, like, say, Texas's Permian Basin, from regulatory uncertainty tied to pollution drifting across borders. August Fluger has argued that even the threat of a non-attainment designation can delay permits, increase costs, and hinder economic growth. And this is, by the way, I I've said this so many times on the show. The problem is not regulation, right? That's never really been the issue. I know that the libertarians, small government, any cost types seem to believe that nuance doesn't exist. And so they won't play along with the conversation. They'll say, no, always small government. And you say, I understand that you want small government. There are also times when there are things the government should actually be deeply involved in. I'll give you an example of this. If you look at lots of countries, okay, you buy a very cheap product. It's you know, moderate quality or bad quality, but it's a very cheap product. You can already guess the product probably wasn't made in America. Because products made here because of cost of labor and everything else tend to be a little bit pricier. And so you buy your product, whether it was from China, India, w wherever the product came from, you get it very cheap. Well, come to find out, when you get products that cheap, you gotta wonder how are the companies making any money? Well, it turns out it's because they pay their workers less. And I don't mean less in the sense that because they don't have inflation, uh, because the government's not mandating a minimum wage, that they're more economically and fiscally successful. No, no, no, no, no. That would be an argument from lib l this sort of libertarianism. It's not the case. Uh you look over at China and uh the level of child labor and uh nearly forced child labor by nature of sickness and disease, where they're working for not even pennies on the dollar to make these products that we get to buy, that then, of course, renew the need for more child laborers. Do you want that to exist? Well, we could all say no, but we can't really have much of an impact on what's going on in China, other than just individually not buying goods from China. But when I ask you, do you want that to exist here? Well, we can do something about that. Right? We can put a stop to that. We can pass laws. Wait, but I thought we wanted small government. It doesn't say anywhere that we have to get involved in some sort of child labor laws. That's not a constitutional obligation the federal government has. But I think it's all it's I think it's fair to say that the federal government should have certain standards for labor regulations. And I'm not talking merely about a minimum wage, I'm not coming out and saying, hey, raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, see what happens. Not what I'm talking about. I'm saying that there are laws that are good. And we don't determine which laws are good because of which ones keep the government small. We determine which laws are good by the nature of whether they promote what's good, true, and beautiful, by nature of whether they promote the truth, by nature of whether they protect and benefit Americans. That's how we determine what policies we believe in, what is good. We don't do it basis, well, that's uh gives the government some power. Yeah, but is it the kind of power that we the government should have? Does that fall under their role as a government? Uh, because preventing monopolies certainly should. Making sure that Americans are protected from foreign invasion, that should that should apply. Right? There are things that the founders didn't have to deal with, so they didn't explicitly put it in there, but we all understand the role extends to those things. And so when you talk about these sort of regulations, here's an example of one that should be rolled back. It's kind of crazy that the federal government comes in and gives you a standard and then unfairly penalizes you based on that standard for something that someone else is doing. Just to kind of sum up what this story is saying. That states are being punished for the actions of people outside of the state, and that's unfair, and it hinders economic growth. It makes the state look bad, and it means they can't get certain grants. And everything else, that's not right. We should stop doing that. And I think that's a fair thing. I think it's very good that the House has sort of passed this bill. Now, of course, the bill's not gonna have to go to the Senate for consideration, as with any bill. So keep that in mind that it's not like official and you know it's been signed into law and everything. It still has to go through the Senate. And uh pardon me if I'm not overly optimistic about its chances. But with that being said, we are coming up on the bottom of the first hour. That means that in the next segment we will have your updated weather report. The last one, maybe not the last one of the week. I'd usually say that, but since I have an afternoon show, I might give a little tease of the weather. Since I have a morning show tomorrow, I might give another little minor weather update. So we'll we'll see how it goes. This may be the last weather update of the week, especially if you just tune into the morning shows Monday to Friday. Weekend Storm Timeline For Houston
SPEAKER_17Let's let's get into this because the weather is very important for our weekend plans. Houston is heading into the weekend with one final warm, humid, but other than the humidity, dry day today, before we have a cold front bringing some storms and uh some pretty much uh cooler, let's say cooler temperatures. The front is expected to move into southeast Texas late tomorrow, increasing rain chances through the day and into the evening hours. Now, while not everyone is gonna see heavy rain, any thunderstorms that as always do develop could produce brief downpours and gusty conditions. Now, we have as of right now about 24 hours total, like uh at least a solid twenty-four hours left of dry weather before a cold front brings a sort of unsettled period. In the meantime, we're gonna see another rinse and repeat forecast that you've seen most of this week. Warm, humid conditions today, highs climbing into the mid-80s, skies partly to mostly cloudy, passing sprinkle, rainy chances around ten percent for some neighborhoods. By tomorrow, that's gonna change. Uh cold front is gonna stretch roughly from Dallas, Fort Worth, to San Angelo. Showers and a few storms are likely during the morning and after early afternoon, mainly well north of Houston. The risk of storms should hold off through most of Saturday afternoon, uh, with showers really arriving closer to 6 to 8 p.m. Now the main focus Saturday evening will be a narrow line of thunderstorms that moves across the region between 10 PM and 4 a.m. Sunday. Again, they're not expecting severe weather, to be completely honest with you, uh. Though a few gusty moments can't be ruled out. The main concern is the potential for localized flooding. Uh, with plenty of moisture in place, low-lying spots or areas with poor drainage could see brief ponding on roadways. Especially when they're expect expecting rainfall totals between a half inch and say an inch and a half. Now, behind the front, a much cooler and more comfortable air mass is gonna settle into southeast Texas to close out the weekend. Sunday is gonna feel noticeably different, with afternoon highs only reaching the upper 60s to low 70s under a mix of clouds and clearing skies. You'll also have a few lingering showers that could persist through early Sunday, especially closer to the coast, uh though most areas are gonna be dried out. Now, breezy conditions are also expected in the wake of the front, particularly along the coast, where winds could remain elevated into Sunday evening. Now, by Sunday night, cooler air is gonna take hold, with temperatures dropping into the mid-50s to low 60s, offering one of the cooler nights the region has seen in in a little bit of time. That cooler pattern will continue into Monday, uh, though it's g it will be brief. Uh southerly winds are gonna return Monday night, and then of course into Tuesday, Wednesday things are gonna get warm. With that being said, that'll do it for the first hour of the show. As we've highlighted when we get back, we're gonna have Charles Blaine coming on from Urban Reform for the weekly local recap. If you'd like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. And I'll be right back at the top of the next hour.
SPEAKER_08From deep in the heart of Texas, Coach Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.
SPEAKER_15We can sit down right here and scream again because it's a good one.
SPEAKER_17Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative.
City Hall Showdown Over ICE
SPEAKER_17And on the line, we have our good friend Charles Blaine from Urban Reform coming on for the weekly local recap. Welcome to the show, Charles. Thank you for having me.
SPEAKER_20Good morning and happy Friday, as always.
SPEAKER_17Happy Friday. Very excited to dive into this. This is a I know I gotta stop saying that because I always feel bad. Starting off, this was a busy week, is the line I was about to use. And I realized I think I say that almost every week. I think I've even said before I say that almost every week. So it's like a double problem.
SPEAKER_20But it's always a busy week, so it's a good problem to have. At least it's not a slow week.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I know. But almost maybe things would be better for actual Houstonians if it was just a if we just would take a break every once in a while and it'd be a slow week. Maybe we stopped trying to do so much. Uh speaking of that, let's kick it off with all the latest updates we have on the fight here at City Council between HPD and ICE and all of that mess.
SPEAKER_20Yeah, so if you were like me, you were rolling up your no ice, no right uh sign that you were gonna bring to City Hall today, and you are going to put pack it up until next week because the council meeting that was scheduled for today to uh put on a repeal of the item um was postponed until next Wednesday. And it's because uh the mayor says that Governor Abbott and him are in talks to try to resolve this thing, this big issue. And for your listeners who don't know the backstory, Houston passed an ICE an HPD slash ICE ordinance that kind of restricts their cooperation with ICE. And in response, the governor pulled 110, 114 million dollars of public safety funds through his grant, uh through a grant from the public safety office within his office. And so they're trying to work it out. Um they it's postponed until next week, but it's really anybody's game or anybody's guess as to what's gonna happen because you know they the vote was 12 to 5, and so presumably you have to convince a majority of that 12 to switch to the other side. And I just don't know that uh I don't know that that's gonna be the case, but we'll see.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I I I don't know. Mainly because a lot of the 12, I guess really 11, because Mayor Wemer obviously is already switched. He he switched the moment he voted in for in favor. Uh he was switched before. I don't know why he did it. But uh you got 11 that need to flip. And I I think they're so radically opposed to ICE that I just don't I see them like putting their foot in the ground saying sue us, take our money, and feeling like martyrs when the people are actually the ones that are gonna be, unfortunately, the the people who have to suffer from us not getting the grant money and being sued. We have to come with a lawsuit.
SPEAKER_20Absolutely. I mean, right now the author of the ordinance, Alejandro Salinas, is already saying that they should sue or file for a TRO, a temporary saving order against the state to stop them from taking the money. So she doesn't want to rescind this ordinance, she wants to keep fighting, and she's encouraging others to do the same. And so I think our council members have a lot to think about. $110 million on the line when you have FIFA World Cup coming and just a whole host of other things here in Houston. And uh she's pushing hard for this. So we'll see what happens. But the meetings next week, they have the opportunity to rescind. I mean, council members might not show up, they might just break quorum, they they might show up and then make an amendment to sue. I mean, who knows what's gonna happen? We really just don't know.
SPEAKER_17And I still, can I just say I am on in a bad way flabbergasted by Mayor Whitmeyer here? I I'm a little lost because I gave the guy maybe too much credit uh on a lot of cases. He's been outspoken saying it's a bad idea to vote for any policy that sort of inhibits what we're already doing, because what we're already doing is bare minimum. We're not we're not doing extra operation. Like Gowsa County has like done a training program where their officers can literally take someone to an ICE facility. So they're like actually cooperating with ICE. Houston's just doing the bare administrative warrant minimum. And so he said for months, this is the bare minimum. We don't want to break state law. He's warned that doing so could come with lawsuits and financial repercussions. And so then he votes for it, and then he comes out the next day and says, I warned you guys, then why did you vote for it? Right.
SPEAKER_20And it wasn't even the next day. At the end of that meeting, he said, the state's watching, and you guys might soon see the, you know, whatever they have to say about it or something like that. I mean, if anyone at that table, you have to say we. If anyone at that table knew what was to come, it was him. I mean, he's worked with these uh state lawmakers um and the governor and and attorney general for years, and so for two dec uh one decade. And so I don't understand why he voted for it. I think that if he did not vote for it, he would have a better standing in going to the governor and saying, like, listen, my council did this, I didn't vote for it, maybe we can figure something out. I'm still the mayor, but uh I don't know. We'll see.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it's it's it's really a mess. Now, I want to contrast that because uh it's not the only city that's in a mess. You also have Dallas and Austin. The mess is a little different, though, because it's been going on a while and uh now we're finally seeing some action. It's a little confusing to me. Can you give us some background on that?
SPEAKER_20Yeah, so this is frustrating. When I found this out, um a lot of you might have heard that um Austin is now being sued or investigated by over the same situation. They passed an H uh an ICE ordinance. Theirs says that they have to call a supervisor before detaining someone. And then Dallas did a similar but different theirs, I think, was the most egregious because apparently from their move, um, they lost a $25 million like grant from ICE, and it was unilaterally decided by the police chief rather than kind of going for counsel. So now the governor and the AG are fighting back, they're pulling funding, they're suing. But the thing is, when you look at it, Dallas is within last year and Austin's within February. And that's actually started to be discussed in January. And so here we are a year later from one, and a couple months later from the other, Houston passes it, and suddenly everybody's up in arms. And so it just kind of frustrates me, the Houstonians, because had they tackled this back last year when Dallas did it, it probably would have scared enough of these other cities that they wouldn't have pursued the same policy.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, it's a little bit weird the timing on it. And I I'm I I don't like to speculate on things I don't know too much about, but it it does actually give me a little bit of pause to wonder was there not enough research being done? Did they just not know? Uh were there not enough headlines? Did it not seem like a big enough problem? Did they not research in depth? They just heard, oh, they passed a policy, is what it is. And then once Houston passed an obviously bad policy, they started looking. Like, what led to the I mean, it looks like an incompetence to me.
SPEAKER_20It it does. I mean, you know, I can see if maybe they just missed Dallas's, but I mean, the St. Capitol isn't Austin. Like, they you got they somebody's watching Austin News, whether it's someone in the governor's staff, whether it's the governor himself when he wakes up in the morning. Someone's watching the news and should have seen that and and moved on it. Um, I don't know. I did hear though that through the grapevine that one of the reasons they might have moved now was because they were prusing Texas scorecard and they read this article. I don't know, it was written by someone, and they said that Houston passed a Sanctuary City ordinance, and so they saw the word Sanctuary City and got up in arms.
SPEAKER_17Um you might be familiar with, I don't know if you read that, but I did, I did read that article. I gotta say, I will say the pros, maybe the most excellent document I've ever read. I I agree. I think it was I think it was great. Um They got the governor to move, so yeah. I I tell you what, I'm not to do my own order. That by the way, that is my article to our listeners. He's referencing my article, a Texas scorecard. It may not have been mine, but I think there is a reality that, and I've said this before when it comes to influence, I'm gonna use the last bit of our time here to say this, but I think that us being active and saying things the way they need to be said to get people to understand what's happening actually does have an impact. Because when you read the articles coming out from Dals and Austin, it's just, well, they pass an ICE policy. And you see the headline, you're like, okay, whatever, I don't have time to look at that. If you read Houston is now a sanctuary city by policy, that gives you some pause, even just as a normal person.
SPEAKER_20Exactly. No, it really does. It really opens your eyes to things. And so I agree. This kind of, you know, independent um media, the people on social media, everywhere across the board with people pushing that message, I think really helped.
SPEAKER_17Yeah, I'm still very disappointed, though, that they that they waited this long to go after Dallas and Austin. It's just it's just unbelievable to me. Um, but with that being said, Charles, we are gonna be talking to you next week.
SPEAKER_19In the meantime, wait, wait, wait, before we before we jump, can we at least hit the county story? I we gotta talk about that one. At least that one.
SPEAKER_17Yes, let's talk, let's talk about it. Let's go over it.
SPEAKER_20Thank you, thank you. No, Michael wasn't kicking me off. I told him I had to leave early. That's why everyone's I just wanted him gone. But uh just wanted to bring up yesterday at uh Harris County Commissioner's Court, uh, they approve uh appointed uh Abby Kamen, district C uh city council member to the county attorney position, which is really interesting because no one heard about it prior to um, you know, Abby Kamen did resign because she's running for this seat and she will be on the ballot in November for county attorney, but they uh decided to appoint her this week, and then the sitting county attorney, Jonathan Baumbaum, uh, resigned. And so it was really interesting. I no one saw it coming. Um, Commissioner Ramsey voted against it for that reason, and surprisingly, so did Judge Hidalgo. So Commissioner Ramsey and Judge Hidalgo were the only two to vote against it, and Judge Hidalgo said that when she heard that the similar situation happened in Fort Bend County with their county judge, she was really kind of disgusted by the process, and she couldn't bring herself to vote for here after feeling that way about that one. And so it was a really interesting day at Commissioner's court.
SPEAKER_17Oh, yeah, because you did have Fort Bend County, KB George was ousted uh just over the last week. They finally said on top of the charges he's also being kicked out of county judge position and they put a Republican, uh actually the Republican uh guy that's in the in the now the general election.
SPEAKER_20Right, right. Right. So same situation on that side, except we didn't have a one to remove, he resigned. But she said that she's like, you know, if the Democrats are gonna, I mean, if the Republicans are gonna do it, either the Democrats are chumped for not doing it or uh something else. She gave another like analogy, but she's like, I can't do it. She I just can't bring myself to vote for it. So she voted against it, even though she did support Abby in the primary, which is interesting.
SPEAKER_17Right. It's uh just a why Harris County and Houston politics are some of the most confusing piles of mess I've ever seen. Um But with that being said, how can people keep up to date with all the reporting that you're doing when you're not here on our show on Friday mornings?
SPEAKER_20Just check out Urban Reform Org, all across social media, or Charles Blaine on uh Twitter. There's plenty of stuff there.
SPEAKER_17Perfect. Charles Blaine or Urban Reform Org. Thank you as always, Charles, for coming on and giving us your time and keeping us updated on what's going on here in our local area every Friday. Thanks for having me. Looking forward to seeing you next week.
County Attorney Shake-Up In Harris
SPEAKER_17Of course. Now, ladies and gentlemen, with that being said, we have lots more to cover during the show this morning. One of the things I actually want to mention uh is on top of kind of what we just went over with ICE, HPD, Houston City Council, Dallas, Austin, it doesn't actually j end there. Turns out there's actually even more to this because I found out that Harris County uh is also delaying any sort of vote regarding ICE policy. So to give a uh a little bit of background, I I think it's it's fair to start with uh a little bit of of background. Before we explain why they're tabling it, we can kind of talk about what they were gonna discuss. Uh and so they were gonna discuss during Commissioner's Court yesterday, they were supposed to discuss county-level guidelines on immigration enforcement, after, of course, uh and by the way, Rodney Ellis actually said that he was encouraged by the Houston City Council's policy, their ordinance. He said that inspired me to do great things. And so they were gonna talk about uh how we should deal with ice, all this sort of stuff. Well, then it comes out, uh we find out that they're planning to table that, that they didn't vote to pass it, which I was surprised by, actually, uh, but they said they were going to kind of wait. Uh Harris County said they're gonna hit the pause button on it because of uh let's say, let's say, intense pressure from state officials. And so in an afternoon session at Harris County Commissioner's Court, Judge Lena Dalgo announced that a vote on the measure exploring the county's relationship with U.S. immigration and customs enforcement would be delayed to a later date. Uh of course, they had a morning of heated public testimony. He had Cesar Espinoza, co founder of FIEL, which of course urged officials to acknowledge the reality of the region's population. You know, there's a lot of people breaking the law here. Let them keep doing that was was basically I'm I'm paraphrasing his testimony, but that's essentially what he said. No, he said uh Whatever affects an immigrant in our community affects everything. We have 1.5 million foreign-born people here in Harris County. We don't shy away from it. Can I say one thing? Just just for a moment. Am I I I'm I'm asking rhetorically because it's my show. Of course I can. We understand that that's completely irrelevant, right? We we all kind of agree on that. If I had a city and I said we have one million murderers in this city uh who are convicted but not sentenced, uh, who never went to jail, they're just out and about. If we were to get rid of those people, uh execute them, whatever we do, that would disrupt our economy. I think uh almost everybody would look at me and say, Yeah, to heck with the economy. We'll figure we will figure it. I promise you we'll figure it out. We will rise back up, we will work as hard as we need to, we will make it happen. Please do not let the murderers stay around us. Please, please give them justice. It's the same thing. I don't care how many people here that are assisting in this labor or that on us. The argument from, again, the libertarians and the moderates, oh, well, who's gonna clean your toilets? Oh, who's gonna pick the I don't care. I we will figure it. I promise you, Americans are fully capable of figuring it out. You know, for the first time in a long time, we may have to have wage increases that aren't mandated by the federal government because companies are gonna have to pay more to get the same labor quality because Americans are willing to negotiate and say, I want more money than that to do this job. That'll actually be better for the overall economy, if we're being completely honest. But there was also, of course, backlash. You had uh Barbara Denson came out and she said, We see what happened when the city tried that. Now the state stepped in, and the city has to obey the law. If Harris County tries to pull the same stunt, they will face the same consequences. Now, with that being said, we got a text in a little earlier that I didn't see. I was just scrolling to make sure I didn't miss any text, because sometimes I do, and it turns out I did. And we got a text in it says, Good morning, Lone Star Conservative. Yesterday I had the honor of speaking at Commissioner's Court, so kind of related actually, concerning future infrastructure in East Harris County, particularly an Islamic center that they are wanting to build there. I was extremely heartbroken as I witnessed Commissioner Adrian Garcia bring an imam from the Islamic Center of Clear Lake. One lady stood up and shouted that we were a Christian community. She was ridiculed and humiliated by the crowd, and they cheered the Imam instead. Lena did allow the Christian lady to speak, so she prayed. Adrian Garcia literally worshipped this Imam as he honored him. I was so disappointed seeing the reality of the Islamic takeover that I hear you tell us about every week. Thanks for reading. It it is actually very heartbreaking. Uh I I tell you what, there have been plenty of days where I'm on the show, and some of the stuff that I've done research into, some of the stuff that I've found out, the stories I've read, they are so disgusting to me that I I there have been plenty of days where I'm sitting here like, I gotta separate any sort of emotional response to this. I I I don't know if I have to pretend it's not happening, whatever. I have to give a show on this. And so when I see these massive Islamic centers or these gigantic demon statues to pagan Hindu gods going up on the side of the highway, I am disgusted. I I was asked in an interview a few weeks ago, you know, the uh big big monkey statue, should it be torn down by by order of the government? And I said, yes, it should. We are a Christian community. And and you know, we need strong men to rise up who don't care if they get ridiculed, by the way. We need more of that. We need men who are saying, literally call me any name in the book, do whatever you want to me. I'm gonna speak the truth. The truth is, we have too many foreign-born people here. The truth is, those foreign-born people are not the same foreign-born people we brought over 150 years ago. These foreign-born people worship a false god and brought it here. That's not what the founders wanted. That's not what I want. Send them back. Legal or illegal, we can do denaturalization. It's it's perfectly moral. Every country in the history of the world has done it. It is it is perfectly acceptable. And the fact that you're called a xenophobe and a racist for even considering it as an option should tell you everything you need to know. Because we are being taken over by foreign invaders who hate Western civilization because by nature they hate Christianity, because they stand firmly in opposition to it by nature of their worship of demons. I this is not fake. They are worshiping they are idolaters, they love that which is evil, and then lecture us on what good is. It's so funny to me. Uh, because uh you you use terms like racist and xenophobe and bigot and Nazi, really whatever term you want. I p pick your poison. I actually don't care. You you call me those terms. Someone like Adrian Garcia, I'm sure, would believe those things about me. The the problem is, right? It would be like this. If you meet somebody who likes Did you guys ever see when they came out with the it wasn't jello, I I don't know why, jelly beans. When they came out with the gross jelly beans as like our joke, it was like a board game, you could spin the dial and it would tell you which one to grab, and they were they would be a packet of like green MMs. And half of them were green apple, and the other half, literally the flavor was grass. Right? They and they had a bunch of different like that, some significantly worse than grass, I promise you, I tried them. If somebody came to you and they they recommended you uh one of the best candies ever, but then you found out that they liked eating the gross versions of jelly beans, they enjoyed the taste of the poop jelly bean, would it be fair to say you probably wouldn't trust their opinion on what a good candy was? I I think that would be fair. So when Rodney Ellis, who's worshiping an imam, who's justifying raising taxes, who's justifying the Islamic takeover, who believes that our country is merely a melting pot and there's no cohesive culture that should be defended or protected, and then bullies and ridicules a woman who who w wants to preach the gospel and believe in the Christian community that we did have here. If that's the kind of person that he is, I I actually will take it as a compliment if he calls me a racist and a xenophobe and whatever else. If he calls me hateful, I'll take it as a compliment because of course you hate me. I s I see what you love. I your heart cannot love these you can't serve two masters. I know which master I serve. I also happen to know which master you serve. And so it doesn't really bother me that much that you hate me. I expect it. In fact, if you didn't, I'd be doing something wrong. If you liked me, I'm not doing a good job. I'm not doing what God called me to do. Because by nature of saying the things that I'm gonna say, and I'm gonna say them, you're going to hate me. He's gonna I I mean, all these people on the left that are justifying this. Cesar Espinoza, Lena Hidalgo, Adrian Garcia, Leslie Brionis, it doesn't matter. Houston, Wittmeyer, Alj Salinas, it doesn't matter. Edward Pollard, uh all the way up to the federal Kamala Harris, I don't care name a single Democrat, even just the ones that are everyday college students, they're all gonna hate me. I I know that, I expect it. Because I think these people are gross. I I think they're wrong, I think they're insane, I think they're evil, I think they're pagans. I think that our country was not made to justify their delusions. And hopefully, with the continuation of punishing cities and counties that are breaking federal and state law, hopefully, by the continued taking away of grant money and actively punishing these places, they can learn and they can get in line. We'll see a sort of return to some sort of civic participation in a good way. But it's gonna require a massive fight uh in order to get there. With that being said, when we get back from the break, we are going to jump over and we're gonna talk a little bit about the Galvison County Fair. Kind of lighten it up a little bit because the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo is kicking off today. And so uh you again, you guys complain when I don't tell you about events that are going on all in the Greater Houston area. So I'm telling you about this event. We'll talk about it when we get back from the break. Time permanent, we may also talk a little bit about ERCOT because ERCOT is also warning of explosive uh load growth driven by these data centers, which we may, if we have time in the next segment, we'll talk about. Meantime, if you would like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978. One more time. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. I'll be right back after this short break.

Galveston Fair And Weekend Picks
SPEAKER_17Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. So the annual Galveston County Fair and Rodeo returns to the Gulf Coast this week with opening day today, that is April 17th, that is Friday. The nine-day event, one of the region's longest running traditions, will take place at Jack's Brook Park and run through April 25th. Now, opening day festivities will include rodeo action, livestock competitions, carnival rides, family-friendly attractions like a petting zoo, breeder row exhibits, food vendors, shopping, etc. Live music is going to take center stage tonight, featuring performances by William Beckman and Wynn Williams. The fair and rodeo celebrates Galveston County's agricultural roots while supporting youth development education, kind of similar but smaller than the Houston Rodeo. According to organizers, the 2025 event raised more than one million dollars for youth programs through auctions and awarded over $162,000 in scholarships. Now, this year's event is expected to draw thousands of attendees from across the Gulf Coast for rodeo competitions, concerts, livestock shows, cook-offs, and educational exhibits. And so that's gonna be uh kicking off today. Again, that's Jack Brooks Park over, I think it's actually in Hitchcock. Um, and uh I think we have a guy that uh used to live there. Anyways, so that's kicking off, but uh you should wait. You shouldn't go this weekend. You know it's gonna be so busy. It's gonna be so darn busy at the house. It's opening day. Uh you it's and there's other better stuff to do, really. And you know, I say that as a staunch supporter of the rodeo. I love the rodeo, I love every rodeo. I love small town rodeos a ton, too, by the way. Vibe totally different, not in a bad way. Small town rodeos are such a blast. But there are better things to do than being uh, I mean, it's gonna be so packed for opening day. Um, and if you're gonna be around a bunch of people, uh, you're better off just coming out to the NRA annual meeting because that's where we're gonna be. I mean, I don't even I don't know if I can say how many vendors. There's a bunch of, let's just say there's there's a bunch. There's a lot of vendors. Uh you guys know George R. Brown's huge, lots of vendors there. And so, you know, it's it's uh it's certainly very large. It's certainly a very, very, very large event. And we're gonna be there. I'll be doing a live show, as I mentioned earlier in the show, from four to six p.m. Um and we'd love to see you out there. If you want to buy a weekend, pass the website is nram.org. That is nram.org. Pretty easy to remember, it's the National Rifle Association annual meeting, nraam dot org. So uh purchase your weekend tickets, come on out, we'd love to see you uh at our booth uh between the live broadcast I'm doing today, another one tomorrow. We'll have special guests there, special interviews, we'll be out and about, talking, eating, hanging out, all that good stuff. And we'd love to see you there. Now, with that being said, before we go to the break, there's something else I gotta talk about. Because I I totally forgot. I totally forgot that this happened. Uh, when I looked up and did the research for the Harris County choosing to kind of punt that policy down the road because of what was going on with the state, I forgot to mention that afterwards Lena Dalgo actually spoke out about it. And so she came out and she said, again, this was following the event where they they admitted, you know, she she came out and she said, this is an evaluation, just a study. It's not to actually, you know, promote a forced policy. And so she came out and she said, Um, all of the people in these various agencies can reach out to ICE. And these departments are led independently, so we need a consistent approach. She also said, Everybody, as far as I know in Harris County and in Houston, we all follow the law. There are different interpretations, but nobody is disobeying any kind of detainers or requests. Which is not true, because if you uh use the word requests, that includes administrative warrants, which is exactly what HPD is now forced to not care about. We can't hold them anymore. We we we we have no capability of doing that. So you're actually wrong on that we're not abiding by requests and detainers. That's exactly what we're doing. Nevertheless, um, with that being said, I I did get another text in before we before we go to the break here. It says, Hi, hey Michael, I hear you talking about the rodeo and the NRA convention. I'll be hitting the convention today after work, then I'll be at the rodeo Sunday morning. Best of both worlds. Have a blessed weekend, and maybe I'll see you at the NRA convention. We'd love to see you there, by the way. Uh, our good friend Dave, we'd love to see you come on out. Been a longtime supporter of the show, of the station. We love you very much. Would love to see you there. And it is the best of both worlds. Um I will probably end up hitting the Gavisha County Fair and Rodeo sometime next week. Um, after one of my shows, I'll get some writing done, some work around the house, and then I'll head out, take the kids down there, be a great day, make a day out of it when it'll be hopefully a little less busy than the weekend, especially opening day. Goodness gracious. But yeah, we'd love to see all of our listeners at the NRI convention. We'd love to see you guys talk to you, get to know you, et cetera. And uh, you know, we talk about all this local stuff. How Lena Dalgo is saying we're not breaking the law, when that's obviously not true. How city council is voting on these bloated budgets, maybe putting in a garbage fee, which by the way, absolutely crazy stuff. We didn't get to get to what Charles Plain, but he kind of gave me the inside scoop that apparently there's upcoming going to be a proposed by Mayor Whitmeyer, a $5 garbage fee being added into Houston residents monthly. And not only that, it gets worse, over the next few years, it's gonna bump up to $25 per month. It's gonna continually grow till it reaches $25 a month for garbage to kind of offset the fact that they don't want to raise taxes, but this is a form of raising taxes, nevertheless. And so, you know, that's that's going on in our city and in our state, we have other issues, and in our federal government, we have other issues, and we're trying, uh all of us in our own way are trying to kind of hold everything together. We have people testifying against the Islamic issues, we have the State Board of Education, we have people that are testifying against school or for schools uh to get out the the Muslim stuff out of the education system, school choice issues, we're fighting on the immigration front, we're fighting on the transgender front. I mean, there's so many different issues that our our our work is kind of split. And so we need people dedicated to specific fights if we want any chance at winning them. I think you know the term. Jack of all trades. How's that end? Master of none. We understand. And so it's not that a jack of all trades is a bad thing, it's good to have diversity. Pause. It's also really good to have people who are dedicated to the the a certain craft. And so that means in a case where you talk about any of our constitutional rights, that you have people that are dedicated to a specific fight. That means that other people need to be dedicated to other fights, but people need to be dedicated to each individual fight. Which is why you should join our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. Gun Ons of America is not pushing back on a lot of the stuff going on. They are fighting for your Second Amendment rights. They are dedicated to that fight. And they do that phenomenally and in a variety of ways. Uh all the ways I really everything you can think of that they could be doing, they're doing. Of course, you say, well, are we making sure that we get good candidates in uh who are going to promote good Second Amendment policy? Yes. Are we lobbying for bills that would increase our rights, that would return us to a more constitutional state, and fight against bills that would violate those? Yes. Well, let's take it a step further. Would you sue the government if you thought they did something that was unconstitutional? Yes, they literally are. And so much more from the research, the grassroots involvement, et cetera, so on and so forth. Gun owners of America is the best in the game at making sure that your rights are defended. You can go to G-Oahuston.com. That is G-Oahahuston.com and become a member. It's a $25 annual membership, $25 a year, which is just a small way to say, hey, here you go. Please keep suing. Please keep lobbying. Please keep campaigning. And we need them to do that. Now, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we will jump over and talk a little bit about ERCOT, uh, because ERCOT is now coming out and sort of warning about the explosive load of growth that's being driven by these new data centers, uh, which again, as I've said over and over and over again, I understand that these things mean progress, and I understand that they mean innovation. But as I've questioned on the show, in these exact words, have we ever stopped to ask whether products? Is a good thing in this particular case. And we'll ask that question again in the next segment. As always, if you'd like to text in with any other questions you'd like me to ask, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'll be right back with the Urcott story after the break, so hang tight, and we'll be back in just a couple minutes.

SPEAKER_23Medicare choices are easier with a professional in your corner. Senior Health Services is not associated with the government, so you know you can trust them. Visit Senior Health Services.com today to connect with a trusted agent for a free consultation.

ERCOT Alarm On Data Centers
SPEAKER_17So essentially what's happened here is that ERCOT has now had to come out and essentially, I don't want to say slap a warning label, but essentially that's what's happening. Uh the state's grid operator, ERCOT, is projecting a surge in electricity demand over the next decade, driven largely by data centers, crypto mining, and new industrial facilities. Now the it's really a quasi-governmental sort of entity. It's not really a government agency, uh, but it's urging state regulators to pay attention to both the scale of the boom and the uncertainty back peaked into these early projections of the next decade. In a filing to the Public Utility Commission, uh the PUC at the state of Texas, uh, the the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which is ERCOT, submitted its preliminary long-term load forecast for 2026 to 2032, along with new data on large load requests from transmissions and distribution utilities. Now, the numbers show potential peak demand in the ERCOT region climbing from today's record. Now, let me let me kind of preface this. These are in megawatts. And you don't even need to know what that means in order to understand what I'm about to explain. Our current record is right around 85,500 megawatts. And if you're wondering, yes, that is more than triple our current record. And by 2032, they're expecting it to have skyrocketed to 368,000. To which I would say, yes, that's more than quadrupled our modern day records. The forecast is based on a high growth scenario that includes, again, those large industrial and data center projects. Now, ERCOT's forecast includes several layers of demand growth, including base economic growth, electric vehicle adoption, customer-owned solar adoption, crypto load at existing facilities. So there are a lot of assumptions that ha with any projection you have to make assumptions in. And so there are assumptions. This is not a guarantee, this is what's gonna happen. But this is generally the direction we see things going. And so ERCOT also added uh different types of loads, explaining how that worked. And so they they're kind of giving their forecasts based on those numbers. Again, they take those numbers to over four times our current peak load today by tw by six years from now. And so uh they also talk about crypto data centers, crypto mining, industrial projects, hydrogen, oil and gas, refining all that. Um, and so they explain where all this stuff is coming from. And so in its letter, they explicitly tell commissioners to get into the more kind of politics of this, they said that it has concerns with using the preliminary load forecast values and any other transmission resource adequacy analysis uh because they don't know how things are going to go. They're saying Texas is experiencing exceptional growth and development, which is reshaping our large load demand is identified, verified, and incorporated into long-term planning. As a result, uh we look forward to working with the PUC of Texas, the the Public Utility Commission, on potential adjustments to refine how we ascertain the most accurate information. And so, of course, they also dive into uh maybe kind of some warnings slash concerns saying, you know, we need to consult with commission staff, uh, we need to continue dealing with this, we need to determine whether we get ahead of this wave of demand, uh, whether it over or underbuilt the grid, all those sorts of questions. And we're coming up on a break. And so I have two options in front of me. Move on to another story or give some political commentary. And I think it's gotta be the political commentary one. We'll talk more about this story, kind of what I think about what's going on with ERCOT, uh, especially in terms of data centers, crypto mining, et cetera, these industrial facilities, uh, what progress looks like, what this looks like, the sort of conversations we should be having, and so on and so forth when we get back from the break. As always, if you'd like to text in, I would say this is your final chance of the day, but it's not. It's only your final chance of the morning. SPEAKER_10Hi, this is Harold Gunn, inviting you to join Bill Olson and me for Texas' longest running and most awarded outdoor show. Brought to you by Bill Ford Tough Trucks, it's Texas Outdoor News. Join us Saturday mornings at six on Patriot Talk 920.
SPEAKER_17Now, as I get into this, I do I do want to highlight something because ERCOT dropped, if you missed the last second, a pretty big bombshell this week. Uh they're projecting that peak energy demand in the state could go from around 85,000 megawatts a day to nearly 370,000 megawatts by 2032. Again, more than four times our current record. And again, more than that, the prediction of those numbers actually showcases that we expect like the vast majority of the growth to be from data centers alone. Over 70% of the large load requests are from data centers. And so I want to be careful here because ERCOT themselves are warning regulators not to treat those numbers as guaranteed. A lot of these projects are speculative, right? Even, even, even if half of them were to materialize, we're talking about a grid that looks nothing like the one we have today. That's kind of what I want to highlight here. They're saying, well, we don't know if it's going to do this. Even if you only are right half of the time, if only half of these end up working out, you're still in a completely different state than we've ever been in. Ever. I mean, it's it's a massive shift from where our economy is today, where our grid is at today, and you'll notice those those changes very distinctly and comparatively to where we're at right now. And so that raises a question, I think we don't ask enough in politics. Uh we just don't. Is this the right kind of progress? And and I believe in free markets. I've said that so many times, I don't need to say it again. I believe that we should be the most friendly state and business friendly state in the nation. I also believe that all progress is not created equal. Uh in that say we have momentum in a certain direction, uh, that is not the same thing as momentum towards something that is good. Just because something is new, or it's fast, or it's big, or it's shiny and sparkly, that that doesn't make it inherently beneficial. And progress for progress's sake is not a virtue. Innovation should be a means towards something, not an end in and of itself. And so the question we should be asking, is it a means to what? Now here's where I'll give credit where it's due, right? There's a real case for data centers in Texas. I get it. AI, computing infrastructure, um, can improve lives, medical research, logistics, national defense, communication. I get it. I I mean, but if you look at crypto mining, uh, one University of Houston Energy Fellow estimated that cryptocurrency miners on the grid have already driven up wholesale electricity prices for everyone by more than five percent. Uh you and I are subsidizing that through our power bill. So ask yourself, is that the bargain we signed up for? Is that what we want? And so reliable power is a good thing, economic growth is a good thing, but Texans deserve to ask a very simple question. Who benefits, who pays, and what are we actually building toward? Because a bigger bill in in the future uh isn't uh just so as say a server can can mint digital coins on the internet is not my idea of the taxes stream. I wanna I just I don't know how else to say it. I think it's something we're talking about that we need to address. That just because progress exists does not make it positive. And again, there are genuine arguments for potential data centers. There's a lot of negatives to them, too, between the use of the power grid, what that means for our taxes, for our payments, add also in I want you guys to all keep in mind, I I've already heard people talking about the fact that they can hear it, they're on a farm, they've been there for generations, and now the data centers are so loud, even with the sound blockades, their animals, their chickens won't lay eggs, they're stressed. I then it's it's having negative repercussions. And so I'm not so sure that spending a ton of our money to make that happen is the best idea. Now, with that
