How Houston Politics, Crime, And Community Collide
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Chaos doesn’t usually show up all at once. It shows up as a handful of “small” choices a city makes, a culture shrugs off, and a family structure we stop defending until the consequences become impossible to ignore.
We start with a hopeful note from the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston, because the best part of a convention isn’t the newest hardware, it’s the community that forms when people actually meet, talk, and build something local. From there we pivot into Houston politics and the growing standoff over HPD cooperation with ICE, the city’s ordinance changes, and why Texas leaders like Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton are escalating with lawsuits and grant funding pressure. If you’ve been trying to follow SB4, “sanctuary city” claims, and what local law enforcement is allowed to do, we lay out the moving pieces in plain language.
Then the tone gets sharper: a viral Whataburger brawl in Waco becomes a case study in what “soft on crime” looks like on the ground, and why incentives matter more than slogans. In the middle of all that, we give you something directly useful. Justin White from Senior Health Services joins us for Medicare Monday to break down the basics of Medicare, the real differences between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and how misinformation from friends, family, and even doctors can push people into the wrong plan.
We close with a difficult story out of Houston and a bigger question behind it: what happens when the roles of husband, father, and family stop being treated as essential? If you care about Houston politics, Texas immigration policy, public safety, Second Amendment culture, or Medicare guidance you can trust, this conversation is for you.

Welcome Back And Month Ahead
SPEAKER_09From D in the Heart of Texas, it's Houston's gun loving Patriot in the voice of reason. This is the Bonstar Conservative, Michael Wilson.
SPEAKER_12Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Welcome back to another week of the show, another week of life in general. What a blessing it is that we all get to be here. That God has brought us back from our slumber once again. We've made it to the start of a new week. And this is really what what is this? The last really the last full week of I mean, I guess next week is basically a five. I mean, it's it's May 1st is next Friday. So I guess we're getting pretty close. But this is this is the last full week of April. And there'll be another month. And you guys know with May comes a lot of shifts. Not only are we moving into summertime, so obviously it changed with the weather. We're also obviously going to be uh having a lot of stuff going on with elections between the campaigns going on, May runoffs. It's going to be a very busy time of year for a lot of us. And I just want to remind everybody, I I I just need everybody to know that is listening this morning as we get into May and to June and to July and so on and so forth. Don't worry. My show is still gonna be here every day from 6 to 8 a.m. You can still tune in. As busy as you with politics and everything else, I will still be here. Also, I wanna I want to highlight for just a moment before we dive into some of the uh sort of new breaking stories here in the greater Houston area and across the state of Texas.
NRA Meeting And Community Building
SPEAKER_12One of the big things that I want to talk about before we kick off all of that is a little bit about the NRA annual meeting. Obviously, that just wrapped up yesterday that was going on. We set up Thursday, but then it was a Friday through Sunday sort of deal. Big, huge trade show. Uh there were some people that showed up that I think were a little confused, thought they were gonna get to buy some of the newest and meanest technology in the gun space. Uh and uh politely were told that we don't sell guns at the NRA, as it turns out. You can't sell guns at the NRA annual meeting, but it was very cool nonetheless. Uh it was it was an absolutely incredible time. And if you guys did not get to tune in to either the Friday afternoon show from 4 to 6 p.m. or the midday Saturday show, uh, you really, you really missed a treat. It was, it was actually a very incredible time. Um we we got to have I I think we had I I could count them out, but I think we had a total of something like 10 to 12 guests during those shows. Uh maybe it was nine or ten guests we had on. And that doesn't even include that some of the times there was there was two guests on at once. So it was it was a really good time. Uh I I thoroughly enjoyed that. And we also got to see a ton of our listeners that showed up to our booth uh that showed up just to say, hey, say, hey, we're here, we showed up, you know, we wanted to come see you, shake your hand, all that sort of stuff. It it was, as I've often highlighted before, with a lot of events, whether we host them or their gun shows or whatever, whatever they are, with a lot of events, one of the best parts about it is not what's being displayed. Right? It's it's not just about, well, hey, there's the newest this and the newest that. Come check out this, come check out that. Uh a lot of my favorite part of really any event is the social aspect of said event. And I don't mean in the sense that I just want to, you know, hang out with every, you know, I'm I'm like a social butterfly, but in the sense that it's nice to continue to see a community being built. Because that was always the goal. From the launch of Patriot Talk 920, we kind of differentiated ourselves from anybody else by coming out and saying, hey, you know, we don't want to be like everyone else. Our goal is not just to be the biggest radio station in the Greater Houston area. Our goal is not to have the most broadcasting this or to have the most that or to have the most that was never the intent of our station. The intent was always, from the very beginning, to to carve out an actual community from the greater Houston area. It was always to to be at every event we could be, to make friends, to encourage people to listen to the show, to keep the show as educational and informative and and all of that as as is humanly possible. And once we do all of that, we'll watch as the community continues to be built. And that's that's what we've seen. Uh the number of people who showed up to our booth who did not even hear about it from us, uh, but were at the NRA and said, Oh yeah, I've I've listened to your station. Oh yeah, yeah, I know who you guys are. I or oh yeah, I listen to this show every day, or oh yeah, I checked that out all the time. It was incredibly encouraging to hear people who we'd never met before, right? We know a lot of our listeners by name. We'd never met before, dozens of, I mean, lots of them who who showed up, walked by our booth and said, Oh, hey, I know you guys, right? You you have so-and-so. And so that was that was incredible to see. And then of course, on Friday night, if you guys did not make it again, you did miss a treat. Friday night we had our own private event uh right after the NRA meeting wrapped up over at Collector's Firearms, which uh just just quick reminder for all you who have not been to Collector's Firearms it is one of the coolest gun stores in the world, certainly the coolest gun store in the Houston area. It was incredible. And they were it was it was incredibly cool to have the whole place shut down just for our private event. You know, they would unlock the door whenever anybody would show up, they'd open the door for you, you get to walk around and see whatever you wanted in their store. And then you could, of course, go back, grab some food. We had food, we had uh we had a bartender, we had drinks, we had uh we had cigars, we had giveaways, and then we raffled off a firearm, a decanter set, some 2A bourbon. It was it was absolutely incredible. And I'm sure we have lots more just like that coming up in the future. We will, of course, on this show keep you highlighted and updated with every event that we have going on, everywhere we're gonna be, all that sort of stuff. But I just wanted to highlight it because I was I was incredibly encouraged to see the amount of of shall we say engagement. The la the the amount of engagement that we had with people here in this community. Uh you guys have been the absolute best. I I cannot I cannot word it any other way. You guys have been the absolute best. I am incredibly blessed to have gotten to know many of you, to see you guys at our events, uh, to get to hang out. I'm very blessed to have you guys listening in general. Right. I know I know, I know. There are there are, again, I've highlighted this so many times. There are so many places you could be going at this time. Number one is bed, right? Number number two is listening to anybody else. Right? You you could be doing anything else with your time. You could be listening to music, you could be, you know, just drinking coffee, sitting outside, listening to the birds sing. You your your option list is vast. And the fact that you're choosing to be here, m many of you each and every morning, Monday to Friday, is uh one, very I'm very grateful. I'm very appreciative. And two, uh, that puts a lot of responsibility on me to make sure that I'm doing the very best job that I can every morning, that I wake up, that my show prep is is at least fairly extensive, that I'm updated on everything kind of going on in the Greater Use scenario across the state of Texas, and and that I'm pr putting out a show that I'm I'm happy to put my name on. Right? I know that a lot of people just treat their jobs like jobs. Um my philosophy going into any job has been and will always be uh the what the Bible tells me that it is, which is that I do not work for the glory of man, but for the glory of God. I I'm not doing all of this uh just to just to I the byproduct, of course, is that people enjoy the show because I'm, of course, then creating a good product. But all of this happens for the glory of God. That's what's driven our station from the very launch uh back at the very beginning, I mean, years ago. That's what started all of this. We wanted a station that was dedicated to family faith and freedom. And unfortunately, those values have been under attack. That's why freedom is that why do you think we are the gun owner station? Freedom has been under attack for years. The nuclear family is certainly under attack, and uh it doesn't take looking around more than a couple seconds to find out that our faith is under attack. Christianity is treated differently than every other religion, even here in a supposedly Christian nation. It's given less freedom. Right? At the end of the day, you see, I'll give you a good example of this. If you burn a Bible or an American flag, pretty much nothing's gonna happen to you. I mean, unless you throw it at somebody. But we have a guy who showed up to uh an Islamic meeting and he he's he brings his own Quran, sets it on fire, just throws it on the ground. He's charged with I think they ended up letting him go, but he gets arrested. For what, you might ask? Oh, something to do with some sort of violent vitriolic hate speech. That's the double standard that we have uh for other religions and tolerance versus Christianity. And so family, faith, and freedom are all under attack at every level, uh every level, local, state, and federal. Everybody knows it. It's it's very clear. There's a reason why the left came out in full force against passing school choice here in the state of Texas. That's not a surprise, it's not a shock. Everybody is well aware. And so it's it's very obvious, really, to everybody, that we have a massive fight ahead of us. And we knew that getting into it, right? We we knew when we launched, and this this weekend was a good reminder, we knew that it was going to be a massive fight, right? We knew that there were so many different areas that we had to to take on. And that we were we were coming in as as it wasn't even really an underdog. An underdog used to have to be a dog. We were like an unborn dog, right? We we were coming in, we knew that we did not have any sort of home field advantage, we had nothing. And we knew it was worth it anyway. And uh our president actually had to get to got to have him on on the show on Saturday, but our owner and president, founder president of Patriot Talk 920, Matt Velazquez, if you guys have met him, you already know this, right? Many of our listeners who've met him, you guys know the kind of man that he is, because you can tell just by meeting him. But I mean, the man the the amount of times I've had a conversation, really I was there before the station officially launched, working in social media. And so I've been around the whole time. And I remember uh talking with Matt about all of this, about our plans, where the station was looking to go, everything. And I remember numerous conversations where he said, I I don't know how this is gonna go. We we don't have these advantages. There are things that we need to fix. There are lots of issues here. He said, But I'm being called to do something. We're all being called to do something. He said, I I own a radio station. How in the world can I lecture anyone about politics when I have access to a radio station and it's not playing talk news when no one's being educated, when I'm not doing things. And so we did. And now we've been here for years. And we're going to the NRA meeting, we're going to like the the GOA conventions. I think we went to 56 gun shows last year. We're hosting all of our pistols and pizza events, uh, among other things that we've hosted and will continue to host. And so we've become uh a sort of staple in the greater Houston community. And we're very blessed for that. And so as we're coming off the heels of another great convention here in the Houston area, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out. Thank you to everyone who tuned into those special editions of the show. Thanks to everyone, of course, who's tuning in this morning. And, you know, if you were there or uh you didn't get to stop by or you have some stuff you want me to go over this morning, I'm kind of listing off the reasons you may want to text in, you can kind of guess. But whatever the reason is, if you've got any stuff that you would like me to cover uh here as we get into April 20th, uh this fine Monday morning, you have anything you want me to cover. Uh maybe you saw us at the at the convention, maybe you didn't. Maybe you have some news that came out that you want to talk about. Maybe you were, uh maybe you met somebody at the NRA that you kind of want to, whatever it is, text in, let us know. The number does not change. It is the same text in number. I think since we launched the station. I don't think it's changed a single time. So you don't have to worry about if you write it down now and you continue to listen, you can just reference the notepad and you'll have it. The number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. And when we get back from the break, we are going to jump into our first story, which is coming out about John Whitmeyer. Uh, this came out yesterday, by the way. Another update to the whole debacle between the mayor, city council, and the governor. He's come out and he said that uh fighting Greg Abbott over the ICE policy is a waste of time. All right. This is now the new claim. We'll talk about it when we get back. Like I said, text in 713-779-5978. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You are listening to the Lone Star Conservative, and I'll be right back after the short break. So hang tight. Don't go anywhere.

Whitmire’s ICE Standoff Explained
SPEAKER_12Now, this is a pretty wild update to all of this. I think this is something Mayor Whitmeyer, and I get it, politics is a mess. And I understand that you often in politics find yourself in what we would like to call a catch-22, a rock in a hard place, whatever terminology you'd like to throw around. He's put himself in that position. And it's not entirely his fault. He is trying to balance being a Democrat with not being a clinically and morally insane and bankrupt person. Clinically insane, morally bankrupt. Those are his goals. He wants to avoid the clinical insanity and the moral bankruptedness and still have a D next to his name when he runs for office. The problem is you really can't do that anymore. If you want to run as and be a Democrat, we're we're at a point now in American history for better or for worse. I actually think for worse that we've done this. I mean it really is the Democrats' fault. But what that's done is made the Republican Party sort of a big tent party where it's for everybody. Uh that's how you end up with the the gays against groomers. That's how you wind up with all these different groups of people who all call themselves Republicans and quite literally can't agree on hardly anything. And it's always bugged me. At least uh I watched it can happen as I was coming into being an adult. And so one of the biggest, most frustrating things about that is that as a result, we've actually thrown away a lot of the things that may it made the Republican Party the Republican Party. When I talk to mainstream Republicans and I start hearing, well, I I know that we don't like abortion, but it's a really we gotta be tactful about it. Uh we can't, we we gotta be kind of compassionate. Anytime I hear the word compassionate thrown in when we're talking about abortion from somebody that's trying to convince me of something, immediately alarm bells go off. But I'll hear it from politicians that I've spoken to. We gotta be cautious. We have to do, we have to be compassionate when we talk about abortion. Obviously, we don't like abortion, but you know, and I go, I don't know. You know, there are cases. No, there aren't. That's not true. You go, well, well, what about a miscarriage? And I always I that's always the thing they go to, and I always highlight, yeah, so there's nowhere in the U.S. where there either is or has been proposed any sort of law that would criminalize care for miscarriages, or that would criminalize any sort of removal if the life of the mother, as as confirmed by a doctor, is legitimately in jeopardy. That's happening nowhere. Not in the most conservative areas of the country has that happened, or likely will that ever happen, because there's always been a level of understanding for that. And so I'll say that and I'll hear about, okay, well, what about the women who you know have gone through really terrible sexual assault uh uh and and you know incestuous relationships and they're kind of quiet about it, they don't really want to talk about it. And I always point out, the same as I always have, if if it's wrong sometimes, then by nature it's wrong all the time. I know this is a complicated concept for people. And this is not always the case. There are some things that are sometimes wrong, uh, depending on the context, right? Like killing somebody. Is killing somebody wrong? Well, you might um you might quickly say yes. Then I'd say, Well, what about they're breaking into your home? How about then? What about when they're trying to kidnap your daughter? Is it wrong then? Right? There there are obviously times and places where it's either murder or it's legally and morally justifiable. And and when you talk about abortion, when they come out and they say, Well, yes, I believe that the baby is a living human being, right? Because most Republicans will at least admit that far. And then they say, Well, I believe that, but uh, but uh, but uh it's not it's not about that you know, it's it's only three, you know, it's only six weeks, it's only five weeks old, and it was as a as a result of sexual assault, and so, you know, it's different. No, it's not. If you affirm that at the moment of conception, which is the only time you actually see a biological level change in any sort of genetic makeup, that's the moment that it's either a human or it's not. It's just a different stage of development. After conception, there's no argument that murdering that child is justifiable on the basis of the actions of anyone else. Right? We we do we don't do that for any other any other crime, or at least we shouldn't. Where somebody else, the only other crime that we've done that with is sin itself, where Jesus took the burden for our sin. Other than that, we should not be putting the the burden of the sexual assault on the unborn child. That's not how this works. That's not how justice works. Anyways, I'm going on a bit of a tangent, but I'm trying to highlight uh kind of the differences between the Republican Party and the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party moved so far to the left that the Republican Party actually also kind of moved to the left. Or at least it opened, it it spread wider. Hence the claim of the Big Ten. It's opened up to allow a lot more of the moderate center-left opinions into it because the left, the Democrats, don't want those people. I mean, they want their votes, but they don't want their opinions. They don't want their political takes on things. They don't want the moderates. They are a party of radicals. And so Mayor Whitmeyer, as I was highlighting, finds himself in a bit of a pickle because he is a Democrat, right? You can see how he how he views LGBTQ policy, you can see what he thinks about a lot of a lot of these issues, his real opinions on immigration. You can tell the guy is certainly, by almost any metric, not really a Republican. And yet he's in a really terrible situation because, of course, the left doesn't want him because he's not a crazy radical. He's not your run-of-the-mill leftist. He's not a full-blown Marxist liberal, right? He doesn't want to raise taxes as much as is possible. Those are some of his goals. And so it it's it's a very difficult thing to find yourself in to be in a place where, well, the Democrat Party doesn't really want you. And especially after this vote, really the Republican Party doesn't want you either. And so he's
Whataboutism And Political Deflection
SPEAKER_12kind of put himself in a terrible place. Nevertheless, let's let's jump into this. Before we do that, real quickly, we did get a text and it says it is time to again define being trapped by whataboutism arguments used to deflect from the main point. And and by the way, this is actually I always say debate is different from an argument or from any sort or a conversation. Because in debate, it's supposed to definably be more of a professional setting with stipulated concepts. And in a debate, whataboutism, I know that you know, you this is called a bad thing. In debate, if you're able to get away with it, it actually usually is considered a good thing. But just to define it, what aboutism is when you're debating an actual thing, whatever the thing is. This this I don't want to necessarily give an example because it's anything, whether it's abortion, immigration, or it's nothing to do with politics at all, it can be food. You're debating what's the best food. What aboutism essentially comes in and it it points to something else? Well, what about that? I'll give you a great example of when this happened. I wasn't gonna, but it just popped in my head. When I was debating people about Joe Biden and the terrible policies, the terrible character, all of this sort of stuff. Immediately, anytime I would bring up anything bad that Biden had done, it would say, Well, what about when Trump did this? That is what aboutism? Because, yeah, Trump did do that, and we could have a conversation about why that was good or bad. And I I'm willing to do that. But what they're doing is because they know I'm willing to do that, they're now saying, okay, we're debating Trump. And they've moved the point of the entire conversation. We're no longer we addressing what's going on right now with Joe Biden. Everybody's guilty of this, or most people are. Republicans will do it, and you know, if somebody talks bad about Trump, they'll do the same thing. Well, what about what Obama did? And and we can have those talks, but if you're using it to deflect from actually defending or talking about the main issue, that's when it gets into territory where you're obviously not trying to be, you know, have a have a lot of integrity in the debate. Um, and the leftists do that. It's like a clinical issue with them. Anyways, so so Mayor John Whitmeyer has come out and said the city is gonna is gonna have to walk back its new policy that limits Houston police officers' cooperation with federal immigration agents. Um you also, of course, have some on city counsel who are challenging the mayor or calling on him really to challenge state leaders who are saying, you know what, we need to stand firm on this. Come what may, even with the grant loss and the lawsuits, we need to say, no, we're not giving up on this, we're going to take a stand. And so you have uh just as a quick background, the policy at first was that we would, anytime there was an administrative warrant, we would take them to jail and hold them there. And then it changed, we'll know they have to be on the scene in 30 minutes. That was a relatively recent change that Houston police could only hold someone for 30 minutes for ICE to show up at the scene. Now it's as soon as the ticket or the warning or whatever the person was pulled over for has been completed. Once that's completed, they let the person go. Nothing else. They don't hold them for any period of time. And so with that background being said, the the newest update coming out from all of this and by the way, you also have legal experts, quote unquote, the experts. Anyone here experts in any field, I always get a little bit of a red flag, reminds me of COVID. Um, but they're kind of going over the newest update in the lawsuit from Ken Paxton, who of course is alleging that the policy is violating state law that prohibits cities and counties from materially restricting cooperation with ICE. And Abbott says on top of that, not only is it a violation of state law, but we actually had specific agreement terms with a lot of the funding that we've gotten that that required immigration cooperation. And so not only do we have a lawsuit for violating state law, we also are losing our grant money for that reason. And so and by the way, just so people understand, the U.S. Fifth Circuit actually upheld Senate Bill 4, that was the 2017 law, after a lawsuit questioned whether parts of the bill were unconstitutional. I said they are, they're they're constitutional, they qualify. Now, Mark Levin, and uh spell with a C, not a K, not Mark Levin, the radio host, uh Mark Levin, the Houston-based chief policy counsel for the Council on Criminal Justice, different Mark Levin. He said a court hasn't really ruled on whether or not SB four is in conflict with the U.S. Constitution. He said there might even be an argument that SB four doesn't apply to our ordinance. Well, of course there's an argument. That's why you go to court. Duh. Uh, but uh apparently you have another attorney with the Texas Immigration Law Council that's Crystal Gomez, who said that Houston's ordinance does not deal with people in custody, only those briefly detained, and that they're legally different situations than the terms that we agreed to. Alejandra Salinas, she's one of the city council members uh who put forward the policy and of course voted for it, who's, by the way, continued to urge Whitmeyer to to essentially stand up, one of the big ones pushing to stand up to state leaders. She's come out and she said uh that that Whitmeyer needs to seek a court order temporarily blocking Abbott from taking the city's grant funding while the case works its way to a trial on the merits of the case. She said uh to Whitmeyer, as legal experts have made clear, the state's position is unlawful. This ordinance, which we both voted for, is fully compliant with SB4. It does not restrict communication with federal authorities or prevent enforcement of criminal law, it ensures that officers remain focused on solving crime. Which, by the way, I know this is gonna be a massive shock to the leftists, but those things are actually not mutually exclusive. What does mutual exclusivity mean? Well, just as a little highlight, if I say, you know, I I really want justice for people who commit rape and sexual assault, I also want to make sure that there aren't like what happened with the Me Too movement, where you do get people, women, who are lying about having been sexually assaulted, who are making up false allegations and false claims. I also think that that should be looked into and they should also face justice. Those things are not mutually exclusive. You can seek both. You can say, I want all people who commit these crimes arrested. I also want people who lie to face justice. That's you can you can believe that. Those things do not have to come at the cost of the other. In similar fashion, when you talk about solving crime and holding people from immigrant enforcement, not only are those things not mutually exclusive, but they actually go hand in hand because by nature of having come here illegally, you actually are contributing to the criminal problem. Even if you're not committing other crimes, which if you've been pulled over, there's something else going on. But even if you're not directly contributing to any sort of other violent crime whatsoever, you you've already broken the law by being here in the first place without proper authorization to be here. And so it's not mutually exclusive to say, yeah, do I want Houston police officers to be focused on solving crimes in the Usen area? Of course I do. Of course that should be the main goal of the police department. No doubt about it. There's there's there's no part of me that comes out and says that that no, we we should we should limit. No, they should be. But we don't have to sacrifice immigration cooperation in order to achieve the goal of solving crime. Right. And again, you know this because in 2025, the total number of people who were essentially gotten by ICE as a result of cooperation with the Houston was 75 people. If you're going to convince anybody that this policy is going to make sure that we can focus on solving crime, you'd have to make the argument that 75 arrests, 75 over the course of a year, were even remotely related to the reason why crimes weren't solved. And there's no evidence of that. There's not really even a logical argument for it. And so, of course, these people have no idea what they're talking about. And again, I just want to highlight in many cases, these people don't actually care about the constitution. I've said this before, they care about winning the argument. Because if this is about the constitution, there are so many obvious violations of the constitution they actually do care about. Right? There are so many cases where they could not care less about constitutional protections. The best example of this is how many of these people on city council are very ardent supporters of gun control. We just talked about the convention we went to. How many of these people are firm supporters of limiting the availability to purchase guns, to own guns, background checks, red flag laws, and the list goes on. They don't care about your Second Amendment rights. They just care about winning the argument. And so when you hear them talking about ICE and cooperation, it has nothing to do with their constitutional rights or the constitutionality of cooperation between local law enforcement and federal officers. It has nothing to do with the Constitution. That's just the argument they think they can win on in order to pass their agenda. And by the way, they are every day still trying to do everything they can to limit your ability to own and to bear arms. To keep and bear arms. They're doing everything they can to limit that. And on that fight particularly, I would highly encourage you to check out our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. Gun Owners of America is dedicated to the preservation, the defense, and the support of the Second Amendment. And by the way, I know there's gonna be a shock, that's not free. It requires your support because they do everything possible. That means campaigning for good politicians who will continue to support those rights. It means holding those politicians accountable and by lobbying for good bills to be heard and bad bills to be struck down, to be stopped in their tracks. It also means that if there's a case where the government has overstepped its constitutional bounds, where they have violated the constitution from a law or an ordinance, that someone's willing to take that to the Supreme Court, someone's willing to fight that, to sue, to stop that. Gunners America is right there doing the work there as well. And so if you would like to become a member, you can go to G-Oahuston.com. That is G-O-Ahouston.com. It is a $25 annual membership, $25 per year, which goes right back to all the campaigning, the lobbying and the lawsuits. Again, that is G-O-Ahouston.com. Now, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and uh talk about the Democrat gubernatorial candidate who's now defended protesters who spit on police. I I know that's just the the craziest headline. Absolutely insanity. We'll talk about it when we get back. If you would like to text into the show, let us know your thoughts on anything we're covering, anything you'd like us to be covering, any questions you might have, concerns, maybe a disagreement, whatever it is, text in, let us know at 713-779-5978. SPEAKER_23The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.
SPEAKER_04If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Whataburger Brawl And Soft-On-Crime
SPEAKER_12Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and I was going to talk about this Democrat candidate, and we'll get into that probably in the next hour. But I came across this video that I wanted to talk about just for a moment. I can't show you guys videos, uh, but I'm gonna kind of paint the picture for you. This was going on in Waco, Texas, where you had this all-out brawl at a Whataburger, and I I cannot believe what I'm looking at. I mean, it is it is just absolute degeneracy. You you have like a group of 10 to 15 people. You can't even tell if there's like two sides to the fight or if like it's like a free-for-all until close to the end when they start picking on like one or two of the girls in the group. And this is not like a fight where they take it outside and somebody said something bad about somebody else's wife and they just kind of go to town. No, no, no. This is in the Whataburger. You can see tables and chairs on the floor, the employees are asking them to stop, they're not listening. Uh people are trying to leave or enjoy their food. And can I just say for a moment, this sort of cultural epidemic where these things are just allowed to kind of go on, uh, this has become unfortunately a massive problem here in Texas and all across the country. I'm not gonna single out Texas and pretend like, but but it's our responsibility to fix what goes on here. Right? We can't we can't help that California has these issues. We can't help when Colorado does it. We can't help when when something's going on in Seattle or Portland is out of our control. But we have a lot of influence here in the state of Texas. And when this stuff is going on in our state, a state that is largely supposed to be leading the nation culturally, there's a massive problem. And and this has been allowed to go on, it's allowed to kind of fester and turn into something that's completely transformed the culture, where stuff like this, we we look at the video or we see stuff like this happen and no one's overly surprised by it. We should be. It should come as a massive moment where we say, What in the world is going on? But it's become so normalized, so justified that stuff like this happened. This is recent. This this brawl at a Whataburger in Waco, where you have just a whole group of people just fighting in the restaurant. Um, and the reason this has been allowed to happen, and I want to make this very clear, is not just because the culture's been allowed to change. It's not just because we haven't said things. A lot of it, if not most of it, is coming because our criminal justice system is so soft on crime that people feel entitled to get to do whatever they want with zero to little to zero rip repercussions for their actions. They're just allowed to do it. They're not going to face any sort of strict or punitive issues as a result. They're not facing consequences, they're not facing any sort of you know, negative repercussions, nothing. They face nothing. They get away with it, they go and they do it again, over and over and over again. Why do you think a lot of these people who ultimately get charged and give them life in prison for murder was not their first rodeo, by the way. Most of the time when you see very violent crimes, very heinous crimes, it's not the first time that they've been arrested. In fact, in many cases, when you find these sorts of violent crimes, you'll find they have numerous other arrests. Uh like the guy who stabbed Irena Zarutska up in the Carol when that happened on the bus. You look back at the guy's criminal history and it is extensive. Why? Why in the world is a guy who has the criminal history of this individual, why is he allowed to even be on public transportation? Why is he allowed to be out in general in the public? And so, of course, they say competency and well, we can't really stand trial, he's not really competent. They'll make all the excuses in the book they possibly can. Why? Because the reality is stuff like this, where you look at it, and uh and of course, violence is always going to happen. There will always be criminals who do bad things. But in what world are we supposed to sit around and say, yeah, I mean, I I guess it's just normal now for people to Have brawls inside restaurants. Yeah, I guess that's just a par for the course these days in the American apparatus. I guess that's just something that we have to No, that's not something that we have to deal with. In fact, we absolutely should not be dealing with it. This is not a third world nation. It's not. Where we have very limited funding for our police officers, for our law enforcement, where we have no funding for our judges and our courts. That's not the case here. We have plenty of it. And yet it's not being used. These people are allowed to do whatever they want, and as a result, more and more people are doing whatever they want. And if we're going to fix this problem, as I've highlighted before, and I'll highlight it again, if we're going to fix it, it is going to require this full stop of the justifications for rehabilitation. Full stop of the whole conversation. We have to go back and say, you know what? Actually, maybe it was a bad thing that our number one priority was rehabilitating people. And maybe instead we can say our number one goal is that these individuals face justice. And and yes, yes. Often that will re result in some form of rehabilitation, right? It turns out that punishment actually is good and does create good results in that sphere, but that can't be our goal. The end needs to be actual punitive retributive justice. Where stuff like this is going to keep going, it's going to keep festering, and it's going to keep getting worse. And you're going to see more brawls at Whataburgers all across the state and the nation. With that being said, we're coming up on the final segment in the next little bit here after this break. We'll go over the weather. If you would like to text in, before we get to the weather report, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Houston Weather And Flood Risk
SPEAKER_12And so by this morning, uh the surface high is going to shift east, opening the door for Gulf moisture to surge back inland again, especially west of I-45. Clouds are going to increase through the day, and while much of today is going to stay dry, most likely, the setup is going to become more favorable for rain heading into tonight. Now, a disturbance moving into Texas is going to help set up a coastal low along the South Texas coast, which is going to then move toward the upper Texas coast by tomorrow. That setup is going to increase rain and storm chances across the region, across the area. There will be plenty of moisture in place, meaning any storms that develop could dump heavy rain in a short amount of time. Think about flash flooding. I think they're already under, uh we're already under a level one out of four risk for excessive rainfall tomorrow. Now, not everyone is going to see flooding, uh, but again, localized street flooding on roads is going to be possible wherever you see heavier downpours. Rain chances are not going to disappear after tomorrow. Scattered showers and source rain in the forecast into Wednesday, with periods of rain possibly lingering and weak disturbances moving through the area. By the latter half of the work week, rain is going to become more hit or miss and primarily tied to daytime heating. Expect isolated a scattered afternoon thunderstorms Thursday and Friday, with again many areas staying dry, it's scattered, so it's not going to be everybody gets hit. Now, at the same time, temperatures are going to begin a steady climb. As high pressure strengthens, Houston's going to start warming up. Uh the cryer stretch late in the work week may be short-lived. Another upper level system is yet to move across the county toward the end of the week, potentially bringing another organized chance of showers and thunderstorms by next weekend. Now, while details remain uncertain this far out, again, when you start looking five, six, seven days out from the forecast, uh it's it's more an educated guess than anything else. It is a signal that the active weather pattern is not going away. Uh overall, our forecast features a little bit of everything a brief cool start, a return of rain, warmer, more humid spring conditions, et cetera, so on and so forth. And as you look out at the actual temperatures again, our highs are in the 70s, really today and tomorrow before jumping back into the 80s coming up towards the weekend. Like a week out, again, it's just a guess. Our highs right now are looking like they may shape up to be in the mid to upper eighties by the start of next week. That'll do it for the first hour of the show. It is Monday, meaning it's Medicare Monday. When we get back from the back, we're gonna have Justin White from Senior Health Services joining us for Medicare Monday. If you guys would like to text in, the number is 713-779-5978. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to Lone Star Conservative. I'll be right back with Justin White at the top of the next hour.
SPEAKER_09From deep in the heart of Texas, Coach Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.
Medicare Basics With Justin White
SPEAKER_12So enjoy those cool morning temperatures with a cup of coffee, get outside, enjoy it while it lasts. With that being said, joining us here for Medicare Monday is none other than Justin White from Senior Health Services coming on. And today we're going to be talking about some of the big differences and the basics of Medicare, what you need to know, especially you know when there is a ton of misinformation out there in regards to what these plans look like and how they differ and how they work for you. Welcome to the show, Justin. Hey, good morning. Good to be here as always. Good to have you here as always. And I want to kick it off by talking a little bit about this sort of misinformation. Um and of course, that that that word may sometimes bring up a red flag for people, oh, well, misinformation, but it there are real cases where you're getting information that literally is just not the case. Things that are not true for you and your plan, especially when people's conditions that they have that they're on Medicare with and whatever they're struggling with differs drastically from person to person. So can you talk to us a little bit about the misinformation, where that's often coming from and what that can look like?
SPEAKER_05It's normally coming from emotional reactions to things. Friends and family, as much as we all love our friends and family, are the number one source in my experience of misinformation. You if you go and you're trying to figure out your Medicare, you ask, you ask five friends andor family uh for their advice, you're gonna get eight opinions, they're all gonna be passionate, and you're gonna feel like you're gonna feel dumb if you don't take their advice and you're still gonna be confused. That's just what happens. And doctors are in there, they do it too. They sometimes give misinformation based on their own uh desires, their own desires to see you get into the plan that they like the best themselves. And while that has some value, it's not something you should be basing your opinions on. So, I mean, it's across the board, but yeah, friends and family, doctors, people close to you in some capacity, they're just they they all want you in their plan. That's what I've found. They're just like, yeah, they all want, if they're in a supplement, man, they want you in a supplement. And if they're in an advantage plan, not only want you in an advantaged plan, they want you in their advantaged plan. Right. And sometimes that works, but much of the time it does not.
SPEAKER_12No, absolutely. And I want to highlight just for a moment that as you kind of mentioned, this is not coming from a place of wanting you in a bad plan, right? This is not because they they they don't know what this is because they they care about you. And so it's not intentional misinformation. Um, and in a lot of cases, that's actually worse for you because you can tell they care about you and are passionate about it. And so you take what they're saying maybe even a little more seriously because you can tell how much they care about you. Now, you mentioned being an advantage and supplement plan. That is probably one of the biggest places where you see a lot of this disagreement. Um, these sort of eight opinions coming out from your friends and family. Hey, I'm in this sort of plan, I'm in this. These are the two, I think, biggest breakdowns. Can you kind of tell us a little bit about Medicare, advantage Medicare supplement plans, how they differ, and kind of how that applies to your average one-of-the-mill person that's on Medicare?
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. Well, just to simplify, Medicare itself, original Medicare, is is analogous to a big 80-20 plan. The 20% has no cap, which is why you come see me. Or with somebody like me. There's two solutions to the 20%. One's a supplement, the other's advantage. The supplements pay the 20% directly, and they give you total freedom on your doctors, total freedom to go anywhere you want to. They pay it directly, they're very strong, and they've been ready for decades. People love them, but you gotta pay for them. They have premiums, and those premiums go up every year and eventually get uncomfortable. A lot of people can't afford them after a few years. They're great. Advantage plans are like they feel like big federally sponsored group insurance plans, roughly analogous to the employer plan they've had through their jobs, and possibly right now if they're turning 55. And you know, you if you uh get into them, sometimes you may need to get referrals, sometimes you might need to get a pre-authorization on a condition, but it's nothing different than what they've got going on now. And so those are the differences, and people's boys, the people that don't like referrals really get been out of shape about those things. They really do. The people that that don't care about referrals and they like some extra stuff that came in the advantage plan, they just absolutely love those things because those don't have a premium usually. And so you've got one with a premium, one without a premium, and they just feel different. It's a different style of care. But if they're placed correctly, we get we get very few complaints about either one of them. The the way to get a complaint is to put somebody in the wrong one, and that happens all the time.
SPEAKER_12Right, and I'm sure that's based on not only income and that sort of financial freedom, but I'm sure it's also based on what particular conditions you have, what you're gonna be dealing with, why you're going to a doctor. Is that is that fair to say that it probably is dependent upon what you're actually dealing with?
SPEAKER_05Absolutely, and it's and yeah, that weighs in heavily, but just the style of care. You know, if you don't if you don't mind paying co-pays and you're used to co-payments and you're comfortable knowing what the maximum out of pocket, your worst case scenario looks like, and you and you like getting that in exchange for a much lower premium on a month-to-month basis, you might be an advanced person. If you're somebody that wants to go when and where you want to, no matter what, um, you want to go to all the specialty hospitals, you've got six doctors, and and or you've got bad chronic conditions, and you just want to be able to go and be in total control of your health care, and you have the money and don't mind paying a premium for it that goes up every year, then you're definitely a supplement person. And you just have to be sitting down with somebody like me that's gonna make that distinction because that is the most important distinction for your Medicare. If you get that right, you're gonna enjoy your Medicare. If you don't, then there's gonna be some issues, and it's sad because they're normally very de uh uh preventable.
SPEAKER_12Right, and it's it's again, we kind of highlighted this, but you look at a lot of the the unintentional oftentimes, misinformation coming out, and if people who really like a supplement plan, uh one of your friends who just loves the freedom that comes with it, can afford it, they come to you and say, You got to get on this. The other one is terrible, it doesn't work, it's not good, I'm on supplement, it's the better plan, and you listen to that, but you're in the position where you're not planning on going to see a lot of the specialists, you don't care about the freedom that much, and and you don't mind this stuff, and you're like, I I this is too un it's it's too expensive for me, I just can't afford it, then that plan is not the best suited for you. And so even if it's a worked great for somebody else, that doesn't mean it's great for you.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. And and the supplement people think that the advantage plan folks are ridiculous for getting into a plan that they have to get referrals off. And the supplement, I mean the advantage plan people that like that group analog analog, that like the extra benefits, they like not having to pay a premium, oftentimes think the supplement people are idiots for paying a premium. And you know, and it's like both of them, the people that are there love exactly what they have. So that's why it's so important to talk to somebody in an unbiased situation who will literally present to you how both work so that you can make a decision with just information, not hype, not you know, you know, screening hair on fire, you know, emotionally loaded information, just sit down and says, here's what they like. And by the way, neither one of them are perfect. Supplements get expensive and advantage plans, you got a few hoops to jump through because the premium's free. You know, you just have to look at it like that. If you get that and can make a decision, people come away having made informed decisions until even when they get the shortcomings of either side, they at least know how they work and they're free from there. You know, we're all big boys and girls, and people don't like being blindsided, but people are also very sober to the fact that you know there's always and there's no such thing as a free lunch, nothing's ever perfect. And as long as you give them the information so they're not blindsided, people are generally just fine when the fans of challenges come up. But unfortunately, we've got a lot of people out there that are being shoved into plans because the agent thinks they need to be there or because they're doing what their friend said, and and they just end up in something less than ideal.
SPEAKER_12Well, and then they wind up being one of the people who says, Well, that plan's awful. Uh, and they tell their friends this and it's kind of this cycle uh where they're like, I was in that plan, I can tell you it's not gonna work, it's not good. And it's because they were in the wrong plan for them. Um and so I think that's exactly Yeah, I think that highlights exactly why I think it's fair to say they should come over to you guys.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, or somebody that they trust. I mean, uh unfortunately there's a lot of people that just don't do a good job. Because every time somebody comes in complaining, I've I've gotten into the habit of saying, How did you come to get in the plan you're in? Because none of them are terrible. None of them are terrible. They're all better than anything that somebody not on Medicare has access to. So when they come in and say, all emotional, oh my plan's the worst, it stinks. Um I know for a fact right away that's wrong. And so I say, How did you get that into information? How'd you come to get this plan? And it's always some story. Well, I went to a dinner and somebody told me it was the best, so I signed up, or I called the 800 number and they said that I should have this one, so I signed up. And I'm like, Well, you did yes, exactly. They gave you what they had, you signed up, and now you're in a plan that you didn't want because they didn't show you the other side, they didn't go through. And frankly, the person that signed up was not curious enough to make sure uh that they, you know, looked at all their options before they signed the dotted line, as it were.
SPEAKER_12Right. And again, ladies and gentlemen, for our listeners, being Medicare Monday, this is Justin White from Senior Health Services giving us the inside scoop on some of the big differences in the basics of Medicare, supplement and advantage plans. Uh, Justin, I think it's fair to say that for people, and again, it's anybody they trust, but we have somebody here uh who does know all this, who who does take the emotion out of it, uh, and who is dedicated to helping those who are here in Houston, our listeners. Guys, if you guys are interested in a, by the way, a free consultation, mind you, you go to senior health services.com or even easier, give them a call at 281-894-7540. Justin, as always, we greatly appreciate you coming on, kind of dispelling a lot of the myths, coming in and explaining a lot of the big differences, and making sure that people just know what's going on with Medicare so they can make the best informed decision for themselves. We appreciate your time.
SPEAKER_05Love it, man. It's great to be here. You have a great audience, and uh, God willing, we'll see you next week.
SPEAKER_12Lord willing, we'll talk to you again next Monday, Justin. You betcha. With that being said, one more time, ladies and gentlemen, if you would like to give them a call, the number is 281-894-7540. And we've highlighted it before, but that is a totally free consultation. You don't pay a dime out of pocket. Uh it all comes at no expense to you. For them to be able to help you. Because again, there is a lot of this misinformation and it's not intentional, it's not designed, right? These people again, your friends are not coming to you with with what works for them because they want to see you fail. And if they are doing that, you have really bad friends. Okay, that's that is not why they're coming to you. They are coming to you to be helpful, uh, but helpfulness can sometimes be the enemy of helpfulness, right? The the intention of helpfulness can sometimes be the enemy of actual helpfulness. Because what you need and what you can afford, no two people are exactly the same, right? Uh you can have somebody that you are incredibly close with, that you align on a lot of major issues in a lot of major ways, and you could still end up in two entirely different plans because of whatever those minor, minor and minute differences are. And so that's why we have Justin come on every Monday to kind of highlight those differences, why it's important that you know, because again, you you don't want to it's not that the plans are bad, but you don't want to want to wind up in a plan that you are uncomfortable in. Right. If you're looking at a supplement plan and you say, Man, that would be great, I like financial freedom, I like this, uh, but I just can't afford that premium, and they put you in the plan anyway because you don't know the differences. And in six months, you're looking and saying, I uh I am I am running paycheck to paycheck on a fixed income now. I don't know what to do. I'm a little lost here. I I can't afford this. And you start saying, Well, some of the plans are bad. I this is terrible. Why would anyone ever want to be on this? This is so unaffordable. I I I don't need it. That only happened because you didn't have someone in your corner who knew what was right for you, who took a listen to, hey, what's what are you dealing with? What are you able to afford? What works good for your particular situation? And while your friends, your family, and your doctors may have the best intent to get you in the thing that works for you, they don't know enough details and they don't have the information needed to make an informed decision that takes the emotion out of it and says what actually works. And that's where, again, senior health services comes in. It's why we we partner with them, it's why we have them on every Monday. Justin comes on every Monday at seven o'clock because we want to highlight, hey, there are differences. And while both plans are great, they're not always great for you. There may be one thing that that works so much better for you that you'll be much happier in, and you need someone who will take a listen to that. So again, give them a call at 281-894-7540. That is 281-894-7540. Check them out, give them a call, free consultation for them to look through what you're going through, what works best for you, so you can get that assistance that you definitely need if you're gonna be here. Now, with that being said, uh, we have a few segments left. And so in the next segment, we're gonna talk about we we kind of teased this last hour and then didn't get into it. Uh we have this Democrat gubernatorial candidate, specifically the Democrat candidate, uh, who has basically come out and accused Governor Greg Abbott of hijacking higher education and using authoritarian brutality to shut down campus agitators, uh, which I we'll get into the actual argument after the break, and I'll highlight how just insane a lot of this is, uh, which is not surprising when you hear Democrat candidate, you go, Oh, yeah, yeah, par for the course. I expect there to be some radical, insane ideology coming out of this. That's exactly what you get. We'll
Choosing The Right Medicare Plan

Abbott Called Authoritarian Over Protests
SPEAKER_12So State Representative Gina Hinahosa, a Democrat, of course, from Austin, and the party's current nominee for governor, made these remarks during a conference call with the American Association of University Professors, a trade association that is essentially designed for left-wing faculty. The American Federation of Teachers Union co-sponsored the event as well. As an example of Abbott's so-called authoritarian brutality, Hinahosa accused him of bringing in DPS troopers on horseback to shut down protesters. And of course, she was referring to a series of protests back from UT Austin in April of 2024. So she dug up something from literally two years ago as her main example of this. Now, while many participants in those events engaged in protected political speech, right, they they were protesting peacefully, which is allowed. A critical mass of those protesters did not participate that way. A sizable minority cursed out police officers, called them Nazis, spat on them, threw water bottles. Local media reported at the time that many of the participants in that so-called protest weren't even from campus, weren't even colleges. They were from off campus. Now, despite the circumstances, officers were universally calm and very professional, to the degree which officers were on horseback, it was part of a standard crowd control procedure. And as the university literally came out and explained in a subsequent statement, quote, protesters deliberately provoked officers, stated their intent not to comply, and physically and verbally harassed our staff. Officers were headbutted, spit on, and verbally assaulted by protesters. Some protesters intended to startle a DPS horse, and others threw horse excrement at officers. Police tires were even slashed. And so as you kind of read all of this, it becomes very evident that, again, the the left, it's it's absolutely hilarious because over and over and over again you hear this sort of claim, right? That the right is full of Nazis, that we are the authoritarians, right? And it now, just just as a little bit of a note, I want to highlight, because this is the same thing they kind of do with the No Kings protest, because people are absolutely insane. But if you want to define uh authoritarianism, it's a form of government, right? We know this, um, where you sort of have this highly concentrated, more centralized sort of power, blind submission to any authority for any reason, and the repression of any sort of political opposition and individual freedoms. Now, let me ask you over the past few years, which party has has had more a feature of desiring centralized power, taking away of individual freedoms, and repressing political freedom, political opposition. W which one? Let's compare. So the right has apparently uh gone after people who are harassing, threatening, and assaulting officers. Okay. All right, that that's a little bit oppressive. Let's compare and contrast. Okay, so over the past few years, the Democrats have forced a total shutdown of our country uh during COVID, if you don't remember. A lot of the the run of that was not only Democrats once Joe Biden got in office, you might recall the winter of death uh as it so were, but also a lot of Democrat governors that were leading the charge in a lot of that oppression. Okay, so you have you have COVID. Um, how about when it comes to police brutality or the argument of police brutality? Okay, well, you weren't doing anything, which by the way, doing nothing in action is action. I know that's a little unclear for people. When the left said and did nothing in response to the Summer of Love, the fiery but mostly peaceful protests when when companies were being looted, small businesses were being destroyed, fights were breaking out, people were being hurt or killed, billions of dollars being stolen, police officers being hurt. When that was going on, what did the left say about it? Oh yeah, it's understandable. We we don't call for violence, but we understand that there's a lot of civil unrest, and that's reasonable. Hence the fiery but mostly peaceful line. And so that inaction is itself a form of tyranny, by the way. If the government doesn't do the role of government, I'll give you another example of this. It is tyrannical when you allow violent criminals to be out on the streets with no repercussions. That is a form of tyranny. You can call it a form of freedom and say, well, it's not oppressive because we're letting people out, but you are now tyrannically reigning over the law-abiding citizens who are being hurt as a result of the violence. That is tyranny. And so let's see, the left has been big on prison abolition, and not in the same sort of prison abolition as I've called for, because I promise you they would hate my version of prison abolition. They have called for rehabilitation at any cost. They've allowed for mass open borders, which again is a form of tyranny where you're allowing non-citizens in to change the culture, the heritage, the makeup of the country, as well as the violent crimes that have been committed, the drug trafficking, the fentanyl trade that has killed I I I mean, just an unbelievable number of Americans, especially young Americans. All of that has been going on for years. And you want to come out as all of that is going on, from COVID to immigration to the forced whatever it is. And you want to say that we are experiencing authoritarian brutality because people who were assaulting police officers were arrested. I I mean, I I would love to hear the actual argument from Gina He knows. I I would love to hear anything that even approached any sort of logical connection here. Because I'm I'm missing it. I I if there's authoritarianism going on, I'd love to see where it's coming from. The same as if you want to call Trump a king, I would love to know where that concept comes from. Was he duly elected? Or are you uh are you an election denier? Because if he was duly elected, definitionally it can't be a monarchy, right? A king is someone who was not elected. That's the the whole foundational basis of kingship, of dictatorial regimes in general, is you didn't fairly win an election to be the leader of the country. Okay, so uh same thing. I would love to hear the argument for how Trump has been a king. Oh, he's on executive orders. Okay, name a president in the last 50 years that hasn't used executive orders. I that's just insane. Well, his policy on this or that. Again, this is not what aboutism to say, okay, but if that's true, I'll acknowledge, okay, so you don't like the level of power that we have in the executive branch. That's awesome. Did you have that problem when other presidents displayed the same amount of power? Or is it a Trump problem? If you're willing to be consistent, I won't use the argument. If you're gonna say, yeah, you know what, Biden was also a king and so was Obama, so was Clinton, so has really every president been, then okay, we can have that conversation. But they won't do that. No, no, no, it's just Trump, right? No, no, no, it's just Greg Abbott. The authoritarian brutality is only coming from the right, right? It's not brutality uh when you go after right wingers, right? When when and we talked about this at the NRA convention because we had Eric Olhauser on from from Old Glory Bank. It's not any sort of repression and tyranny when you go after people that may have been in the vicinity of D.C. during January 6th. It is not tyranny when they debank you at the request of the federal government, or when the federal government requests private information that should never be released, uh par bar a subpoena, a legal process, it's just voluntary. Well, that's obviously not oppressive at all. It's not oppressive when they come in and try to violate your constitutional rights. None of that is oppressive. No, no. What's really oppressive is when you arrest people who are breaking the law. And it's the same thing they say about immigration. It is ICE. They're the they're the they're the Gestapo, right? They're the secret police. ICE, they're the Nazis. Based on what? They're arresting non-citizens who are illegally in the country. If that's the standard for authoritarianism, then then any good leader by definition, under your standard, would have to be an authoritarian just to be a good president. I mean, the job of the president is to protect the country primarily from foreign invasion. Immigration is foreign invasion, definitionally. So any president who does the role, any immigration enforcement who does their literal job, which is to protect our border and to make sure that we don't have people fraudulently in the U.S., by definition, under their standard, we'll be authoritarian. And of course, that's the goal, right? That's they had to redefine terms. We've said the same thing about racism. Racism used to mean some sort of hatred of another group based purely on the color of their skin. That that used to be what racism was, right? I remember the good old days of racism when you had to hate people because they were a different color than you. You had to look down on them in disgust in in order for you to be called a racist. Well, they redefined it. Now, if you say anything, anything at all, right? If you say that DEI is bad, you are a racist. If you say that college admissions, giving specialty treatment based on the color of skin is actually an example of racism against white people, and it was, by the way, how the colleges were run. I have numerous examples of this. It was very clearly being done by college admissions to prioritize people who are non-white and non-male as their standard of entrance into their colleges. If you call that racist, you're the racist. You're calling out actual racism, and you're the one who's then definably a racist. They have to redefine these terms. And so when you hear them coming out and saying, well, the right is full of authoritarian brutality. The right is full of let me let me let me quote her just to make sure I'm being clear. When we're called the hijackers, literally hijacking higher education and using authoritarian brutality, brutality, to shut down people who are agitating on campus. They had to so vigorously redefine those terms. And this is why, by the way, people can be as angry as they'd like. I'm unwilling to play the game of redefining terms. I don't do it. That's why I've gotten a lot of trouble for this, because this is not, this is no longer really the mainstream Republican opinion. I've said, no, two men cannot definitionally be married. It is impossible. You don't have to like that. You can even look, you can even be someone who supports homosexuality, right? You and still agree with this. Marriage, look up the definition prior to 20 years ago. Marriage was one man and one woman. And further, it used to mean one man, one woman in a covenantal relationship under God. Till death to us part. And so they've redefined that. Uh marriage is now this sort of wide tent that includes any two people. Pretty soon, by the way, it's not going to be two people. Uh with all this stuff going on with like po what's called poly relationships, open relationships. Uh you're gonna it's it's going to happen if we allow the left to continue to take our institutions over and change our words and our laws, where you don't even have to have two people. You can have any number of people in a marriage. You can have eight people married. That's that's on the table because of the left. They try to redefine it to be any number of people uh of any gender, of any of anything that are just in a relationship. That's their I I refuse to cooperate under that. I I'm not no, it's not a marriage. There gay marriage is an oxymoron. It cannot, it it's not a tenable term. You can't say it. It's not, it's not, it's not definitionally true. And so I won't play this game with anything. If you want to change the definition of words, you can try to use it that way, but I'm not going to. You can call me a racist. You can redefine xenophobia, you can redefine bigotry, you can redefine what a Nazi is, right? Well, the Nazis did that. Yeah, the Nazis also drank water. If I do anything a Nazi ever did, does that make me a Nazi? No, there are actually things that are bad the Nazis did that. That's why the term was reserved for. You do the bad things the Nazis did, and you're a Nazi. Yeah, okay. But that's not what they're doing. Right? They're using these terms as a form of agitation to try to make the right look bad, to try to make us look like we're the bad guys, we're the villains of the story. And they'll use intentional wording that they've redefined in order to do it. And so I just want to highlight real quickly here, as we're wrapping up this segment, I I just I've said this before, I've said the same thing about Trump. When you talk about Greg Abbott, can I just say it is it is so laughable to me that they're going after Greg Abbott as the authoritarian brutalist? They're going after Greg Abbott because and this is not a ding on anybody, but Greg Abbott, compared to someone like me, would be would be considered a moderate. Right? If you had a spectrum and you had far left, moderate, and far right, I'm far right. Governor Abbott is a moderate. His overall willingness when it comes to anything from immigration to schools to to uh I mean even the Muslim issues, he's a moderate. That's that's who he that's how he won. That's fair. Whatever. But the fact that you're going after him saying he's authoritarian, what does that make me? You've you've lost any sort of standard. That guy's a normal middle of the road kind of guy. What am I if he's authoritarian? Because I I actually think that the state should have more control. I actually think the First Amendment shouldn't apply to the states. That even if they're engaging in a protest that you're okay with, the state can say, no, that's not good for our state. We're not doing that here. That's not the First Amendment was not designed to curtail states from limiting that sort of cooperation. No, they're allowed to do that under the Founding Father's intent. Again, much further right. I don't know what that makes me With that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna jump over and uh we're gonna talk about this guy uh who is accused of uh killing a missing pregnant woman. Uh he's he's now being accused uh of uh I think he's the primary suspect in the death of this woman who was pregnant here in Houston. Uh her name was Ashanti Allen. And you know, they always say it's the people closest to you. Uh that appears to be true again. Apparently, this guy who's the primary suspect who's alleged to have done this has been identified as the father of her unborn child. We'll talk more about this sort of thing that has led to this sort of disordered love, uh, where people don't have the relationships they used to have. All that, when we get back, if you would like to text in with any thoughts, questions, concerns, disagreements, et cetera, so on and so forth, you can text in at 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Hang tight, because we'll be right back with that update after the break.

You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

Murder Case And The Collapse Of Family
SPEAKER_12Kevin Foe, he's 24 years old, has now been charged with murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Ashanti Allen. Now Allen was found dead in a park on Thursday, April 16th, after being reported missing all the way back on April 10th. Allen's family said she was last seen leaving her apartment shortly after her mother received a text message saying she was leaving and never coming back. The mother, Teresa Gaines Colbert, told officers the message was concerning, which prompted her to check her daughter's apartment. Colbert said when she got to the apartment, she did not see her daughter's vehicle, but noticed all her things, including items for her unborn child, were still at the apartment. They began searching for Alan but came up empty until they were able to ping her phone at a local park. Her cell phone was ultimately able to give police her last location, was a park located on Chimney Rock Road. And Alan was found dead at the park on Thursday. Hours later, he's now been charged. According to court documents, in September of 2025, just as a little bit of background, he had been arrested and charged with assault on a family member. And the victim in that clay in that case was this woman. This was the family member that he had assaulted. On February 19th of this year, he was sentenced to 143 days in jail. Now just so we can we can do the math, right? Uh what's what's the what's the number of days from February 19th? And we do 143. Can can anyone anybody want to do the math on that? Because I I've got a distinct feeling uh that when you when you go from February 19th, right, and and you start doing the math, seven, fourteen, twenty-one, twenty-eight. I mean you get up there, he should not be out of jail. He th this is a 143 days in jail, and he's out in in what? February 19th of the day is seven, fourteen, twenty-one, twenty-eight, thirty-five. I by the time this happened, he would have been out for what forty-nine days when she went missing? That's that's a third of the amount of time he was supposed to be in in jail. So what happened? Uh I couldn't possibly tell you, but it doesn't come as a surprise. The the one the thing that I want to highlight on this actually has nothing to do with jail at all. Because you guys know what I think should certainly happen to him. Right? That that that I don't need to explain capital punishment. We're all good with that. Murder? Yes? Good? All right, capiche. What I want to talk about actually in this case, the reason I bring this story up, uh, is is actually related to the way that our country has devalued family. I mentioned earlier this morning how the our sort of tagline at Patriot Talk 920 has been family, faith, and freedom. Right? Those are the three pillars that we believe made America great. Of course, it was the nuclear family, uh, correct application of family, what family looks like. A lot of it was predicated on liberty, on freedom. That's one of the things that makes America great, right? That's like the brave heart for freedom and faith. Of course, that is the bedrock really of freedom and family in general. All of that kind of comes out of faith. American greatness, American exceptionalism, intelligent, all of that stuff, wisdom, all of it is predicated on our faith. That is the basis. When you start throwing those pillars away, when you start saying those things don't matter, right? We are a secularist nation that believes in moral subjectivity. We think it's totally fine to devalue freedom, to devalue family, to devalue faith. Those things are not essential. We don't care about them at all. Then we're supposed to be surprised when it turns out, oh, you know what? Maybe this wasn't so good for the country. Maybe all of the violence and the lack of justice and the lying and the deceit, everything from Epstein to Pizzagate, all of this stuff that's happened, you gotta wonder where did we go so wrong? I can tell you. It's when we began devaluing the pillars of American values family, faith, and freedom. And this story I think falls very squarely, obviously, under the devaluation of family. You know, it used to be that a father, a husband, right, and that that's number one that you'll see here is that they keep saying it's the father of the unborn child, not her husband. That's problem number one. Okay, that already is evidence of the devaluation of family. It used to be, I'm not saying that no one ever made mistakes and like there wasn't, you know, an out-of-wedlock pregnancy. That happened. It certainly has happened through most of human history. But it used to be there was now an expectation, okay, you did this, that's your wife now. Get married, right? You've heard of shotgun weddings. While it's still sin, it was still a mistake that you did this stuff, that was the expectation, right? That that would be where you went, that that was what would happen. You would get married. And the fact that you have the father, so-called, who's not a husband, is already evidence of this. But you take it further. Okay, so this woman is pregnant with your child. You haven't married her yet. Maybe you're gonna, whatever that is, but she's pregnant with your child. And and allegedly you murdered her, which by nature you also murdered your own child. You murdered your your your your your your infant. You murdered an unborn, your unborn child, not just any unborn child, that's abortion. You murdered your unborn child, your should have been wife and your body in a park. You only get to that point because we don't care about the role of a father and a husband anymore. It used to be that anyone who was anywhere near your wife or your child that would be willing to be a monster like this, you would have stopped them. You would have died to prevent this from happening. And now you're the one causing it. Right? This is an epidemic of catastrophic proportions that we ever got here. The number one role, right? What what's the role of a father and a husband? Oh, that's right. It is provision, right? You're supposed to provide. It is leadership. You're supposed to lead your family. That means spiritually, physically, verbally, etc. It is leadership, provision, and what's the the third pillar here? You have three pillars. Oh, yeah, it was protection. To wrap up the show, when we get back, we're gonna kind of I was gonna go over another story, but I really want to highlight this because if we devalue family, all the other stuff falls. That's why the public school system is designed to get your kids away from you. We'll dive into how important family is here in the Greater Houston area, here in the U.S. if we want to maintain any sort of cultural cohesion whatsoever and return to American greatness, how it requires valuing family as God designed it. Why Fatherhood Still Matters
SPEAKER_12As we're getting ready to wrap up the show this morning, I want to be very careful because, of course, we already have a legal process underway, charging this guy with murder. But I I don't want to get ahead of it, but I want to say that we have to be honest about what this story is representing for us outside of just the courtroom and the legal process, because stories like this are not happening in a vacuum, they're happening in a specific culture that we've curated, unfortunately. And the culture that we've curated has a very big family problem. For most of most of human history, and really uh for the entirety of American civilization, most of Western history, the family unit, we understood it to be really foundational to a functioning civilization. We understood that was sort of the bedrock, right? It wasn't just like, hey, we want to be married, or hey, this is our lifestyle. No, no, no. That that was the very foundation of building a civilization. And of course, at the very center of that relationship stood a husband, a father, defined by three things leadership, provision, and protection, right? The commitment to build something, to work, to lead your family in the right direction, to be a good influence for your wife and for your children, to take them to church, right? All those things. Protection, the the instincts that men have, the obligation to stand between your family and whatever threatens them, with really fearlessly to be a shield and certainly to never be the source of the threat, like in this case. And look at what happened. What was allegedly done to a woman, to a child that was not born, by the one man in the world who should have been the number one protector, more than law enforcement, more than the government, more more even more than her father should have been her husband. And so this is not just a crime, it is the complete inversion of the design that God had for families. We have spent the last several decades systematically dismantling the very idea that any of this matters. They'll call it toxic masculinity. Oh, that's just the nuclear family. That's not that's your that's your lifestyle choice. It's not mine. We've redefined marriage from a lifelong covenant into this revolving door regiment. Yeah, I'm on my fifth husband, like it's normal. Something that you try and then you exit when it's inconvenient or it's difficult. We have told men that commitment is optional and it doesn't really matter that much. We've told women, you don't need a husband, you can be a girl boss. You don't need children to be happy and be fulfilled. Yes, you do. And so we pulled the pillars out one by one, and then we wonder why the pillars that have been taken why the roof is caving in. Well, I can tell you why. It's not complicated. Children raised without fathers are significantly more likely to live in poverty, struggle in school, encounter the criminal justice system, run away, gangs, drugs, et cetera, and so on and so forth. This is not just a statement of, oh, this is my politics. This is fact. This is how God designed it, and America's broken it. And if we want to return to American greatness, we have to fix it. That will do it for the show today. I want to thank everyone for tuning in. You've been listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. Welcome back to another week of the show. Lord willing to be back bright and early tomorrow at 6 a.m. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your Monday and Godspeed.
