A city-owned water park gets booked for a “religion-only” event, the flyers hit social media, and suddenly Texas is staring down a basic question with huge consequences: what rules apply when a private group rents a public facility? We walk through the Epic Waters controversy in Grand Prairie, why Governor Greg Abbott’s office threatened to revoke more than $530,000 in state grant funding, and how quickly the city moved to cancel the June 1 event once the pressure landed. Along the way, we unpack the First Amendment arguments, the “private event” defense, and the idea that state funding can be used as a real enforcement tool when local officials push boundaries.

Then we pivot into accountability and public safety closer to home. We hit an update on a Houston capital murder case where the defendant allegedly fled the U.S. using forged identity documents, raising fresh concerns about supervision and pretrial decisions. We also share a practical Houston weather forecast, including the weekend risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding, because local life doesn’t pause for politics.

From there, we dig into two Harris County judges sanctioned by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, what the allegations are, and why down-ballot races matter when competence and procedure affect real people. We close with a new lawsuit aiming to block key parts of Texas SB4 ahead of its May 15 effective date, plus questions surrounding a messy transition of power in Galena Park and why transparency at City Hall is non-negotiable.

Opening And Listener Gratitude

From D in the heart of Texas, Houston's gun loving bigger in the voice of reason.

SPEAKER_11

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. Here we are. It is Thursday, May 7th, just past 6 a.m., just in time to start the show. And it is good to have everybody that is tuning in this morning listening. You know, I like to say it every so often so that you guys are reminded of this. I'm reminded of it every day. I'm reminded of it every time that I get to come on in front of a microphone and talk for a living. I'm reminded of it every time that we get a text in from one of our listeners. But I want to remind you guys that this show, sure, I I do, you know, I do the show itself. Yeah. But in terms of having a show, in terms of having the opportunity to do that, in terms of how many, how many people get the opportunity to be radio hosts? How many people want that opportunity, and how many get it? Well, that's a pretty, pretty sizable number interested, and pretty much uh, let's just say less sizable number that gets it. And so anybody that is offered an opportunity like this one is incredibly blessed. Myself, certainly included, more than most. And so that's only possible. A radio host with no listeners is is it's kind of like we talked yesterday about how how good of a law would a law be if a law had no law enforcement? If you said, hey, this thing is illegal, but you won't be punished for it. The answer to that question is the same as what's a radio host who has no listeners? And so without each and every one of you who tunes in, many of whom never text in, many of whom just are along for the ride, and that's totally okay too. We're very glad to have you be a part of the show. And additionally, we're very glad to have you be a part of the station. We are incredibly grateful. Uh, we don't take a single one of our listeners for granted. Those are the perks of having started from the very bottom, by the way. One of the perks is that we remember the very, very early days of the station a few years ago, when you know it was it was nothing.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_11

We had just switched over. We had a couple close family, friends, and you know, we slowly started introducing some marketing. And over the course of months to a couple of years, we started growing that. But at the very beginning, it was very few and far between. In fact, some of the people that are around today actually were around at the beginning. You guys still tune in. We're very appreciative for you as well. But I just wanted to highlight that we've grown so much, and growth is only measured really by you guys. That's the only way we can measure. Hey, are we doing better? Hey, are people appreciating what we're doing? Hey, are we doing a good job? Do people want to tune in? That's that's the only way we can really measure any of it. And all of you are in incredibly supportive. I know that from the text-ins, I know that from seeing y'all at gun shows, other events. And so I just wanted to hop on this morning and and highlight for for you guys that this show is only possible because of you. Because of your continued support. Because you choose to spend an hour or two hours of your time from 6 to 8 a.m. listening to me talk. And I know that's a big that's a big investment. That is a big commitment of your time. Two hours, that's a twelfth of of your day. Right? By the time you get to the end of the week, you spent ten hours here. You're working a fourth of a full-time job just listening to me talk. If you do that every week, you know, by the end of it, you're you're spending hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. You're spending potentially um over the course of time I've had this show, if you are a longtime listener, you're spending thousands of hours listening to me talk. That is a massive investment. And so I appreciate each and every one of you that tunes in every morning, or those of you those of you who tune in only some mornings. If you only have the time to listen to an hour of the show when you're driving to work, all totally okay. And I'm I'm incredibly grateful for y'all's continued support. It means the world, not only to me, but to our b to my boss, our president and owner, uh, to everybody else here at the station. It means a lot. And so thank all of you for being here this morning.

Pistols And Pinchers Event Details

SPEAKER_11

Now, speaking of the events that we have, I actually I want to be very clear so I don't seem like I'm miscommunicating. I will not be at the next event. I am out of town. Um, I will not, I will not be available through the next event. And so that does not mean that you should not go. I know, I know I'm the most exciting part of the event. I usually do live broadcasts and it's so fun. I'm kidding. But, but, but the event is actually going to be incredibly, incredibly good. It is, you guys have probably heard, if you've been around the station for a little while, you've probably heard of pistols and pizza. A pretty, I think it's a quarterly event, actually, that we have. I think we do it once, once every quarter. And, you know, we have really started enjoying hosting that quarterly event. We always have it at Aegis Arms Indoor Gun Range over off Beltway 288 area, South Houston. And, you know, we've always enjoyed, we we have great pizza. It's a great range. We end up having drinks, we end up having uh, you know, raffles. We even usually raffle off a firearm at those events. Well, we decided to change it up a little bit for the upcoming event. Instead of being pistols and pizza, there will, by the way, be some pizza there. This time we're calling it pistols and pinchers. Uh, and if you have not guessed, that is because instead of pizza being the main draw, it's going to be crawfish. And by the way, there's there's no entry ticket, there's no fees, none of none of that. This is always pistols and pizza, pistols and pinchers, always free. Uh, and so just to highlight, we're gonna have 200 pounds of crawfish cooked up uh by by our friends over at Crazy Allen Swamp Shack. And I also want to point out, because it's only 200 pounds, and each adult's gonna get about two pounds, that means only the first hundred are gonna get any. So if you're if you're interested in the free crawfish, which that's a crazy tendency to answer no to, uh, you should probably get out there as early as possible. Also keep in mind, um, when we run out, you know, just there's uh you run we run out of crawfish. Well, sorry, too late, you don't get nothing. No, we're still gonna have we're still gonna have uh pizza, drinks, desserts, all that sort of stuff. So so don't worry, there will be plenty of food to go around. We also are going to be doing a raffle. We usually have some smaller prizes, and then we finish it up uh with a big prize at the end, our grand prize, which this pistols and pinchers event, our grand prize is going to be a Springfield Echelon gear pack. Uh beautiful, beautiful little handgun. And I look, that's coming up. Not this weekend, not day after tomorrow, but the next. It is Saturday, that is May 16th. That's when the event will be. It'll it'll again be at Aegis Arms Indoor Gun Range over off the Beltway in 288. You will not want to miss that event. I promise you. Between the crawfish and the range, and I the the electric the energy in that room is gonna be great because there's gonna be a lot of people there, um, which is always fun to be around like-minded people. And they're especially like-minded people because you know they're not only at a range, but they're coming to a Patriot Talk 920 event. And unlike other Republican gatherings, you kind of know where you have to fall to be a listener to Patriot Talk 920. We are not squishy on conservative matters. We are not kind of bending the knee and saying, well, we like some of this. No, no. If you're a rhino, you're out of there. And I have not I have not been, none of us at the station have been even remotely quiet about those beliefs. He said, get John Corny out of there. He said, you know, even Greg Abbott, you're you're you're you're toe in the line on being not a conservative. And when your biggest donor is a Pakistani Muslim, we start to worry a little bit. Right? And so, you know, if you come out to that event, you gotta be aware that it's going to be truly like-minded people. We're gonna have a great time. And by I mean the colloquial we, because I won't be there. Um, but our present donor will be there, a lot of other great people will be there, crawfish will be there, free raffle for a gun will be there, everything else you could possibly want will be there. With that being said, let's go ahead and jump into our first

Abbott Threatens Funding Over Event

SPEAKER_11

story. And and our first we got a story and then updated the story same day, but I wanted to actually go through the background story because I think it highlights what kind of drove all of this a little bit better. So we'll do the background of kind of what was going on yesterday. And it's really funny, because yesterday we had Sidney Henry on from Texas Scorecard, and went over the Muslim University in Dallas, uh, an update from Ken Paxton on the epic city, you know, the East Plano Islamic Center stuff. And I highlighted a thing I had been hearing about in the news. I said, hey, I I one of my favorite sort of independent journalists was pointing out that there seems to be this water park, the toasting of Muslims only day with halal food. And when you know it, the same day I start talking about it, you know, sometimes Governor Greg Abbott comes out and he and he starts talking about it later that day. Okay. Not co it's it's completely coincidental. But me and Cindy talked about that yesterday, uh, and then news broke that that Governor Greg Abbott was kind of starting to address the problem, uh, and that we actually got a response from the water park same day. So let's go into the background first and talk a little bit about kind of what happened, what led to the statement slash threat from the governor, and kind of understand what drove all of this. And so, of course, the threat itself, as the governor has a lot of power to do, as you typically will see in these sorts of threats, was the revocation of more than $530,000 in state grant funding from the city of Grand Prairie, unless officials canceled their controversial Muslim-only event planned at a city-owned water park. The controversy centers on DFW Epic EID. It is a private event scheduled for June 1st at Epic Waters Indoor Water Park in Grand Prairie. Promotional material for the event originally described it as a Muslim-only event. Another spot said for Muslims only. Another flyer said closed to the public, Muslims only. Of course, which sparked a lot of backlash from people like me and people like you after the story was kind of highlighted uh on on social media. And so, in a letter dated yesterday, so this all happened in a very short period of time, the governor's public safety office told Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen that the event appeared to violate constitutional protections against religious discrimination. Andrew Friedrich, who is the executive director of the state's public safety office, said the event purports to be a public-facing and discriminatory at the same time. All Muslims, but only Muslims, may attend. The letter notes that Epic Waters is owned by the city of Grand Prairie and operated on the city's behalf by a private management company. But regardless of who operates it, it's a city water park. Just because I'm contracting out the labor of the water park doesn't change the fact that it is under the because here's the reality. Who here thinks that if I own, you know, my name is Michael Wilson, you guys know me. I own personally, not not corporately, not through the government, I personally own some anything, literally anything. I own an Airbnb, I own a car, whatever it is, and I only want to rent it out to Christians. Should I be allowed to do that? Not am I, should I? Well, of course. Or at least I believe so. I certainly believe that that that's that's the the the freedom of your conscience, right? That that certainly you should have the right to do. And so we understand that, but the city can't do the same sort of discrimination, at least not under the modern version of the Constitution. And even if they could, by the way, even if they could religiously discriminate, which I think they should be able to do, it should be against Muslims, okay? Not for them. We we should be discriminating against the pagans and the the foreign evil ideologies. Not in favor of them. You gotta b if you're gonna discriminate, you're doing it, you're doing it backwards. Right? There's and I know people are gonna hear the word discriminate and say Michael's calling for discrimination. Okay, before we get before we get up in arms and mad at Michael for using a bad word, I just want to be clear that discrimination is is and they'll they'll say that it's unfair or that it's prejudiced, right? But it really is just the different treatment of people based on certain characteristics. And that can include anything, right? You can discriminate against someone based on their age, you can discriminate them based on a disability, you can discriminate against them based on literally any characteristic at all. And by the way, you discriminate on a daily basis. We we all do. You literally. If if you own a business that's mowing lawn and you need to mow as many lawns as possible as quick as possible, are you probably if somebody who's 85 years old applies, are you probably gonna hire an 85-year-old who's demanding double the pay? No. But you technically just discriminated. Now you had good reasons to discriminate, but you did discriminate. And so I have I have no problem with discrimination. I have an issue when you start discriminating against Christians. When you start discriminating against the people of this country, right, that that actually belong in this country. And so, according to the governor's office, organizers later altered the event's promotional language after they came under public scrutiny, updated material replaced Muslim-only wording with all our welcome while maintaining a modest dress-only policy. But the state argues that underlying event still appears religiously exclusive. Uh the letter states the organizers' website makes matters clearer, stating that this event is closed to the general public, and at all times attendees must dress in accordance with Islamic values. If there were any doubt remaining, the website dispels it. The entire water park has been exclusively reserved for Muslims. And so the governor's office cited Supreme Court precedent involving racial discrimination at public facilities, arguing that government entities cannot use private organizations as a subterfuge to foster unlawful discrimination. In other words, he's arguing what the city is trying to do is say, yes, we own this, but that's a private company that's running it. This is their day. We can't stop them. I know it's ours, but it's also theirs. And the Supreme Court's already essentially said, no, that's a loopholster that you can try to discriminate, which you which you aren't allowed to do. And so Abbott, again, really brought this all to a head yesterday, right? The event constituted religious discrimination and warned Grand Prairie that it must find a way to cancel the event or risk losing state funding. He wrote, Let this be a lesson to local officials. Facilities funded by all taxpayers are not just for a subset of Texams. The letter states that Grand Prairie has Grand Prairie currently has five active grant agreements with the state. The city was given until May 11th, that is what is that, five days from when it was issued, four days from today, to confirm in writing that it will not allow the event to occur on city-owned property and that it will not permit similar events in the future. So not only do they have to sign something saying we're gonna cancel this event and we're not gonna do it anymore, but then they have to go a step further and say, and by the way, we're sorry, we're not gonna try to do this again. Even if you don't catch us next time, we're not gonna do it. If the city refuses, of course, that's where the governor's office said that it will terminate the grants, require repayment of previously distributed funds, and bar Grand Prairie from receiving future grants administered by the office of the governor, um, which by the way is a great way to use your state power. The state needs to start taking stands like this. I've said that for a long time. I think most of the issues that we let transpire at the local level uh was not only because the local level had people that were elected that were evil because not enough Republicans showed up to elect good leaders, but then on top of that, the state did nothing. The state would would kind of throw threats out to the wind and hope something stuck. Right? They would say, Don't do that, and then the city would go, I'm doing it. And the state would go, okay. Shouldn't have, but but all right. And now I think it's finally it's finally becoming quite clear that the state is starting to kind of understand, okay, if we want anything to get done, if we want any sort of change in policy at the local level, we're probably gonna have to do something about it. We're probably gonna have to take actual steps in that direction. We're probably going to have to not just threaten blindly and hope that something works out. We're probably going to have to be actively involved in these operations. And we find out that they're doing something they shouldn't be doing. This is, by the way, one of the very important things of investigative reporting. What we do with Texas Scorecard, what I do on this show, what other radio stations are doing, other outlets are doing, right? It's not just me. It's a whole bunch of people. By by continuing to do that reporting, by continuing to highlight these sorts of issues, that's how we get state involvement. That's how we shut this sort of stuff down. And so, with that being said, we didn't actually, they didn't actually wait the five days. I know they had five days from the time he sent it, um, but they didn't actually use the five days. They replied the same day to the letter. And so when we get back from the break, we'll talk all about their reply, what they said back to the governor, uh, what that means for the future of Grand Prairie, for the water park, and so on and so forth. We'll get into it in the next segment. As always, if you would like to text into the show, if you have any thoughts on anything that we're covering, anything that maybe you'd like to see us cover. Maybe there's something that happened in New York that I didn't hear about because most of them I focus on local and state news, but you want to get my opinion on what happened in New York, feel free to text in. Grand Prairie Cancels The Booking

SPEAKER_11

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. We had a text and it says, Thank you, Michael. You and Matt are truly good, Christ-loving, real, and honest folks. Your wisdom each morning comes from the Lord. He honors you because you honor him first. I'm sure I'm a little biased. And I I am. I'm sure that everybody wants to believe this. But, but I actually just so happen to think that I'm right on what I'm about to say. I I genuinely believe from all the people that I've met at our events, from all of our, you know, I'll say frequent text-ins, texter inners, texter ins, text inners, however that would be worded, uh, whether you're frequent or or those who text in kind of rarely, or those who've never texted in at all and text in for their first time, every single person I've ever met that listens to our station, I really do think we have we have the best audience of any radio station in the country. I I really do believe that. How many radio stations are there where you say, hey, thanks guys for tuning in? I appreciate you. Feel free to text in. And somebody texts in uh and says, you know, that wisdom comes from how how often do you hear that in the political realm, period? That our wisdom comes from the Lord. Happy is the man who gains understanding. You you don't hear stuff like that. You should way more frequently than you do, but you don't. And so I I really do believe that we have curated the best audience in the world for this show and for this station. I I I wholeheartedly believe that. And again, I could not be more grateful. There's just the quality of the people who listen are I you guys are you guys are awesome. And um I'm I'm reminded of that every time you text in, reminded of that every time you point Do you know the number of times that I've gotten to text in that pointed something out in regards to a story that you were just kind of making a side comment? And I hadn't thought of that, and it took me down a whole that's why I often say I'll give you a whole segment, because it'll take me down a whole rabbit trail on that story. That because I hadn't thought of the thing. And you guys did. Um, and so I it's just it's just so awesome to be a part of this community, be a part of this station, have you guys listening. Uh, you really are the best. I really appreciate it. With that being said, I want to jump over and uh talk a little about the update coming out from this water park. They responded yesterday to the governor's letter. And it turns out they actually, the city of Grand Prairie actually canceled the controversial event that was planned at the city-owned Epic Waters Indoor Water Park. And so spokesman Beth Owens, uh, that is kind of a spokesman for the city, said, quote, after further review and in the best interest in the city of Grand Prairie, the June 1st EID event at Epic Waters Indoor Water Park has been canceled. The event, as again, you remember it was DFW Epic EID, which was advertised Muslim only, uh, criticized by us, criticized by the governor, criticized by Texas Scorecard, criticized by Blaze TV, and so on and so forth. And so, yeah, I mean, it's uh they had until May 11th, and they responded the same day and said, after taking a closer look at it, it looks like maybe this is a bad idea. No, it looks like you don't want to lose money, which is it's good, which is true. I it's fair. I mean, that's that's why we threatened you, right? Because we knew you didn't want to lose money. I will say, um, there there um there's a bit of a complaint from people, not people on our side of the aisle, the other side. Uh they're saying so Governor Greg Abbott made that post, right? He came in on X and he said, This is religious discrimination, it's unconstitutional. I signed HB 4211 into law banning Muslim-only no-go zones in Texas. The city must cancel the event. Let this be a lesson of local officials. Facilities funded by all taxpayers are not just for a subset of Texans. That's when this leftist replied and said, This is also incredibly dishonest. The water park itself isn't making it Muslim only. A religious group celebrating a religious holiday rented out the park for a private event and asked for it to be Muslim only. They are protected under the First Amendment to do this. And uh, she continued, somebody somebody replied and said this is which is illegal, the city owns it, shouldn't rent it out to an organization. She said, Wrong. The city owns it and they themselves cannot discriminate. However, a religious organization who rents out the facility and is actively celebrating a religious event is protected by the First Amendment by keeping it Muslim only. Which, if that's I I actually don't I don't live in Grand Prairie. I don't know how the city contract works there. If she's right, that doesn't bother me at all. In fact, that makes it arguably ten times funnier. Am I am I wrong? If she's right, if this if this random crazy leftist that hates the governor and and and hates right wingers um is is is upset by this, is this version of it not actually even funnier? Like it it is pretty cool that the city was trying to do a Muslim event and the state said no you don't. And the same day they felt so threatened that they closed it. But how much funnier is it if if this person is right? If actually, as it turns out, it was rented out by a private group who wanted a Muslim-only event, and the governor threatened the city so hard by something that arguably would have technically been legal, right? Because if it was being con, if it was being rented by a religious organization and that's that's fine to do, and they're protected by the First Amendment, if all of that is true, and the governor threatened the city so hard that they said, Well, even though what we're doing is legal, we're not gonna fight you. We're not doing that. They come out and they just end the rental. They're like, sorry, I know this is this is bad timing, but um you're gonna have to find a new water park in the next few weeks because we we don't we don't want to lose our money, actually. How much better is that? Which tells you a couple things. Just just I just want to keep this in mind. It tells you a couple things. First and foremost, the state has a lot more power than they've been pretending they have, and they've been they've been kind of sitting idly by and letting these sorts of horrendous policies go on. They shouldn't have done it for so long. It's it's created a real mess. But the state has so much power. The governor's office has so much power that should be used to its fullest extent to get cities in line again back with common decency and and American values and culture. And this is one of the ways you can very easily do it. These are state grants, which the governor's office has the sole authority to award to you. If you're not doing what he wants, even if what you're doing is totally legal, he is within it well within his rights to say, Yeah, you know what, you're not allowed to do that anymore. Or you or you lose money. In the same way, it it it really is to use an analogy of any kind. If you have a contractor who's doing work for your business and you want to build things a very specific way, it's a little different of an analogy because the city isn't actually under the governor per se, but it's kind of the same. We're giving you a grant, uh, and and you're building something I don't like, and I say, hey, look, I I don't want you to build that. You go, but it's uh I'm allowed to. And I go, I know, yeah, you are allowed to. But if you build that, I'm not gonna pay you anymore. You lose that. I don't want to hire you. I'll hire somebody else. You then dub- you you think twice about whether or not you're gonna build that other thing. And so I I think it's pretty cool that this the state is actually using the authority that they've been granted by God in order to get cities back in line. I I am I am very disheartened by how many cities have turned to Islamic propaganda, how many cities are allowing this sort of infestation. I'll give you another example. You guys remember just a few weeks ago, the state had to threaten the city of Houston and Dallas and Austin, uh, because all three cities were basically violating state law with sanctuary city policies here in Texas. They were here in Houston. You guys remember the city council vote Mayor Whitmeyer was on board with, where they essentially said that I don't say ICE is banned in the city, but HPD would be doing essentially zero cooperation with ICE, regardless of administrative warrants. And Governor Abbott said, you know what, do you want to lose all of the money that we give you? Do you do you want to be barred from receiving state funding? No? Then you better fix this. And so not only do we fix it, but it appears like we just kind of went back to the old version through the amendments, and it's it's pretty wild. But the state has a lot more power than a lot of people seem to think. The governor's office has a lot more power than the people seem to think. And the reality is he should be using it as frequently as possible to get these cities back in line. And we should have been doing that for a long time. But now we're back. We're doing it, we're using the power that God has given us, and we we need to keep the pressure on, especially in the wake of everything happening, uh, until all of this is fixed. With that being said, jumping back over here to Houston.

Fugitive Murder Defendant Flees Abroad

SPEAKER_11

This guy who fled Houston, we talked a little bit about the bond issue and all this yesterday. We got an update because not only, not only do we know that he fled, uh, but now we know how he fled, how that kind of worked out, and it also has resulted in an additional federal charge for the crime he committed by fleeing. We'll talk about it when we get back from the break. As always, if you would like to text into the show, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. The Medicare Minute with Justin White is brought to you by Senior Health Services.

SPEAKER_21

If you are of Medicare age or getting close or you have a loved one that is, be careful with those unsolicited phone calls that I know you know about. We get told about them all the time. What you need to know is that many of those phone calls are not even legal. They're coming from offshore call centers. Sometimes they're calling regardless of whether you're on the do not call list. Isn't that nice of them, by the way? It's really sweet of them to just do that because they are thinking that they can't get caught. Bottom line is when you get on there and you talk to them, they're already kind of operating sidelong of what should be done. And sometimes people end up in plans that they did not intend to enroll in. And so what do you do? Call somebody local. If you got a local agent, my gosh, call them and get in front of them. And if you don't have a good agent, think of an organization like Senior Health Services where you can sit down, talk about what you're looking for, and get the help that you need. You don't need to be talking to phone operators from other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

This one says: the only forces disappointed at the cancellation of the Muslim water park event are the Islamic planners who strategically want to take over America. The governor should use the purse the way the president uses tariffs to correct wrongs. Do you guys want your own show? I mean, you're doing my job for me. Honestly. What are we doing here? This is this is actually an excellent point, though. Dead serious. This is an excellent point. Um the reaction by the way, I do actually want to say you're wrong a little bit. Only a little bit, though. When you say the only forces disappointed at the cancellation are the Muslim Islamic planners, you're you're 99% there, but you're missing the really dumb, retarded, I dare I say, foolish. I think that's we've talked about wisdom, you know, the fear of the Lord's beginning wisdom. They don't fear the Lord. So the foolish leftists who have mistakenly aligned themselves with Islamic influence because they believe that they'll work together. Those people are also really upset that we canceled their event. Which is really funny because for years they've had no problem with religious discrimination against Christians. For years when the government went after Christians, it was not a problem. The First Amendment didn't really protect you, not in that capacity, not this way, not that way. But then you have a city-owned water park. A city-owned water park, even if they are renting it out and it's technically legal, the leftists are up in arms that we got it canceled. And that we've had it they called it a right-wing crash out. They said we're having freak outs at this, that we're the snowflakes, that we're crazy, that don't we have better things to do with our time? All these sorts of things. Because the leftists, again, have mistakenly, because they are dumb and foolish, have mistakenly aligned themselves with this sort of Islamic ideology. They think that they'll work together to get their agendas passed, uh, and they will until the day where they subjugate you to Sharia law the same as everybody else, because you help them get what they want. They don't they don't care about you any extra. You're an infidel, same as us, you're an infidel. And in 50 years, when they have all the power that you helped them get, you're gonna be in the same boat as us, sweetheart. It's not you're not gonna be it's not like you said please and thank you, and they treat you nicer. It's not how it works. Religion comes first to them. You will be in the same boat as us. Uh, which is why we have to stop them, is also why we have to stop letting them run out of our water parks. I don't care if it's whatever. I it's just it baffles my mind that this was entirely avoidable if we just wouldn't have brought them all here. It it didn't happen by necessity. It wasn't that there was just no way to stop this. We like chose to immigrate them here. Bring in the Muslim fools. I we did this. Bring on the hordes and let them reside in our country. I I mean, any king over the past thousand years would have come to you and said, Are you are you an idiot? What are you doing? Why would you do this to your own people? We spent years defending our border from these people, and you want them inside your country? Yeah, we don't actually, but apparently our government has. They want them here. Now, uh now and you're, by the way, exactly right on using the power that you've been given. The power of the purse, the power to collect tariffs, the power to uh whatever way you do it. I think for years the right has been very scared of power. Right? It's the libertarian right that says s limited government, small government, and I do understand that to a degree we we want smaller government, right? I do actually agree with that. I think a lot of the danger is that the right has started viewing power as negative while the left views power as good. And the problem is that neither side has it right. Because power is actually neither good nor bad. It's actually a tool. And if you're scared of a tool, there's a problem. You should be you should be if it's an important tool, you should be very well informed on how to use it, when to use it, why to use it. And instead of being afraid of it, you should be able to hone it. You should be able to to use it correctly. The left the the left uses it like a crazy madman, and the right refuses to use it at all. And we shouldn't be afraid of power. Power is good, it's given to us by God for specific reasons. There are I mean, you you can say that we're a republic then we are, but I mean you can look back at the monarchies in Europe, you're not ever gonna convince somebody who studied who studied Western history that just because those monarchies had a lot of centralized power, they were bad. You know how many of the kings died for their people? How many of the kings uh stood up to these Muslim hordes? How many of these kings fought these wars and were leading the charge into battle? Um it was it was beautiful to see and to witness and to study. And so, yeah, I I don't know why right the right is so afraid of power, because it can be abused. Yeah, the left is gonna abuse it while you don't stop them because you're the one that's scared of power. Goodness gracious. Now, real quickly, I just want to highlight, we don't have a lot of time. I spent, as always, uh responding to that text. Lee Gilly, who fled the U.S. on the verge of his capital murder trial, remember the pregnant wife that he allegedly murdered, traveled with a fake passport and a pseudonym, according to the new criminal charge. The federal complaint for interstate flight to avoid prosecution was filed against Gilly. Authorities have now basically in alleged in court papers that Gilly traveled under a forged identity as LeJune Jean-Luc Olivier. He used a passport and other Belgium identification documents, travel on an Air Canada flight to Italy and seek asylum, according to court records. He landed at the Milano Malpensa airport in Milan, where authorities decided his entry to the country and took him into immigration custody. And then U.S. Marshals kind of talked all about this. Um, which again, I think this escape highlights very clearly that we have a lot of questions about our supervision of criminal defendants, bond issues. It gets into all of that, which we've talked. About very comprehensively on the show. I'm sure we'll talk about plenty again in the future. But we got to go to the break because we have our final segment of the hour coming up. Means the weather report is on its way. We'll go over everything going on with the weather today, everything going on with the weather tomorrow, especially going into and over this weekend, so you can kind of prepare and make plans. We're going to hop into the weather. And in the next segment, I'm going to go ahead and tease this. It's not a guest, but we do have a phenomenal, I'm just going to tease. We have a phenomenal text-in that we are going to go over, kind of going back into religious groups, private events. And I wanna just we'll we'll talk about it at the top of the next hour here in in literally less than 10 minutes. We'll we'll go over this text-in, and you guys won't want to miss it, because it dives deeper into understanding religious exclusion. It goes deeper into understanding basically everything to do with the First Amendment and how this sort of Muslim agenda plays out. But let's go ahead and hop into the weather here for this final segment of the hour.

Houston Weather And Weekend Flood Risk

SPEAKER_11

Houston rain chances are lower today, though we have a slow-moving storm system that could bring a risk of heavy downpours later this weekend. Today's outlook for mostly dry weather makes a change from forecasts issued earlier this week, which originally suggested that storms could be more widespread on Thursday. The shift comes as an upper level atmospheric disturbance is moving slower than forecast models projected again, just a few days ago. The system, which is a sluggish sort of low pressure extending from the four corners in the desert southwest all the way out to Baja, California late yesterday, is now expected to bring wetter weather to Houston this weekend. And so you'll want the umbrella handy today, uh, though you shouldn't be surprised if you don't end up needing it. Today is going to start on a slightly cooler note, with temperatures in the middle to upper sixties. Northerly winds behind the latest cold front should keep the afternoon in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, though it'll still feel a little muggy outside. Dew point temperatures, which can indicate air moisture saturation, will fall only into the lower and mid-sixties, so you'll still notice the humidity, even with the cool front. The lingering moisture could lead to a few showers today, mainly during the warmest part of the afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m. Rain chances are going to increase tomorrow as the upper level low pressure system approaches from the west. Tomorrow is going to bring the potential for heavier rainfall. The afternoon and evening on Friday appear most likely to feature heavy rainfall and a few stronger storms. Pinpointing exactly where the heaviest rainfall will occur is still difficult, even 24, 36 hours in advance. And so areas along and near the coast are currently favored for the highest totals. Widespread rainfall totals of an inch to two inches are possible throughout Friday across Southeast Texas, with isolated areas picking up three inches or more. Now, not everyone's going to see those higher amounts, as rainfall likely will be unevenly distributed given the kind of storm that it is. Some people may see a tenth of an inch, and other people see three to four inches, right? That's just how it works. Now, a second round of storms could develop across the Houston area on Saturday as well. Storms through the first half of the weekend are likely to be driven partly by daytime heating, plans to spend time outside, whether that's grilling or by the pool. You don't need to cancel them, but you might want to make them flexible. Have a backup. Similar to Friday, locally heavy rainfall could cause issues with flash flooding on area roadways on Saturday. More rainfall could add another inch to two inches across parts of Southeast Texas, which again may worsen flooding concerns in areas that see the repeated round of storms. Uh if they had kind of two to three inches on Friday and then another inch or two on Saturday, it could be pretty bad. Um and so with the slow-moving storm system kind of lingering, we don't know what Sunday and Monday will look like, but Houston's, I'll say, soggy stretch of wet weather might not fully ease up until later in the weekend or even into early next week. Uh and so do be prepared for some wet weather really going to the weekend. Today is really, if you're gonna have a dry day at all, basically the last dry day for a couple days until you at least get to the latter half of the weekend. And again, highs will be in the upper 70s for the next couple days before the rain ends, and we heat back up into the upper eighties. With that being said, when we get back from the break at the top of the next hour, we're gonna jump over and uh we're gonna talk about, we got a couple different people who texted in. We'll go over those texts and then talk about some Harris County judges who've been sanctioned. So stick around. You're listening to Little Star Conservative, text in 713-779-5978, and I'll be right back.

SPEAKER_06

From deep in the heart of Texas, it's Houston's God-loving patriot, the voice of reason. This is the Lone Star Conservative, Michael Wilson.

Text-Ins On Religious Exclusion

SPEAKER_11

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and you're listening to the Lone Star Conservatives. So before we even get into this story, I promised that we would get to these text-ins, and as I've always highlighted, as I've always said on the show, and this is true, that's my number one priority. That is That is certainly where my my position is. And so text-ins come first. That's why if you text in, you're gonna get a reply. That's that's that's the bright side of all of this. And so let's go into it. We got a couple different text ins we got over the break, et cetera, et cetera. So let's get to the first one. It says a religious group can often hold a private event in a rented public park space and restrict participation. But calling something private does not automatically make every form of religious exclusion lawful, especially if the government itself is facilitating or enforcing it. Hence the position that the city cannot use subterfuge to discriminate religiously. If First Muslim Church of Hades was hosting an event, they have the right to say only people from First Muslim Church of Hades can attend. They cross a line when they say all Muslims could attend, but no one else. Next, they'll want their own water fountains. I mean Y'all are coming after my job, huh? I think this was a much deeper and more eloquent analysis than I gave last hour. I feel like mine was very simpleton now compared to you guys. Uh nevertheless, you're you're exactly right. And it's it's crazy because again, as I pointed out before, discrimination is totally acceptable. In fact, in many cases, it's good. It is my goodness. All of these sorts of principles and ideologies are often neutral until you apply them. They're they're they're simply that's why when you say a word and you say, well, you're being mean. Well, is that inherently bad? Depends on what you're being mean about. Right? Elijah was certainly being mean when he bullied the the prophets of foreign gods, pagan pagan idolatry. That was mean, but was it good? Of course it was good. Yes, yes, it was good. Is it is it it's also mean to steal ice cream from a child? But I think we can all agree. Oh, if you're listening to this and you don't agree that that's bad, we should have a private conversation because that's that's a problem. That's that's mean. That's also bad. The issue isn't whether or not it's mean, though that's been kind of used as a cudgel to try to force men to stop being masculine. Well, you're just being mean. Uh no, I'm just doing what's right. But the same as a lot of these guiding principles, what makes something good or evil is the morals behind it. Is discrimination inherently bad? No. Is partiality, right, which is sort of like discrimination and it's kind of like reverse discrimination. Is partiality inherently bad? No. In fact, I would argue partiality can, again, it can be sinful or it can be positive. It can be good. I'll give you an example of when partiality is good. Should you be partial to your own country and to the people therein? Really, a country is the people. But should you be partial to your countrymen? Should you prefer them? Should you desire they be taken care of before other countries' people? You should. Yes. That that yes, though that's your extended family, right? That that yes, you should. You should have a level of partiality for your own people. You should have a level of partiality for your immediate family beyond your country. Right? That this Robert E. Lee also highlighted another another version of partiality. Did he love his countrymen? Yes. But his his number one priority was his state. And so no matter whether he agreed or disagreed necessarily with secession uh in the civil war, Robert E. Lee said, Look, I support my country, but my first duty is to my state, my immediate people, Virginia. And we can all take a lesson from that. And so whenever we talk about discrimination and partiality, I know it gets a little bogged down in philosophy because we start we start analyzing, we say, Well, discrimination's bad. You shouldn't discriminate because we've been lied to by the civil rights movement for decades now. Interestingly enough, they did the civil rights movement along at the same time they were doing mass immigration. So they were convincing us two ideologies that were wrong at the same time that all discrimination is bad, and let's import a ton of people. You put those in a box together, which they did, and it turns into you should not discriminate against foreign gods. Right? That's that that was the epitome of what the 60s did is and it didn't happen in the 60s. Obviously, a lot of people that that listen to the show grew up in the 60s, 70s, 80s. And you guys know it's gotten much worse. But that was sort of the the start of it. That was that was when they started convincing people, and now it's taken hold, right? Now it's taken root. And so you look back and you had the civil rights movement and you had the Hart Seller Act with mass immigration, and you put those two things together, and it's this plus this equals this, what did you get? Oh, you of course, as you'd expect, you got, oh, you shouldn't be able to discriminate against Muslims. Actually, you should. In fact, you should discriminate against Muslims. In in not in every fashion, but in some fashions you certainly should discriminate against Muslims. Yes. Not all discrimination is bad, despite what the left would tell you, despite what it's not even just the left, the right will say it too. Really, despite what modern liberal ideology has said, which has affected the right as well as the left. The right has moved further to the left as well as the left has. The right still looks like the right because the left is so crazy now. But the right, I was just watching a video on paleoconservatism versus neoconservatism and how a lot of Republicans fall in the neoconservative camp, we'll call them rhinos, as opposed to paleoconservatives like Pat Buchanan among others. And so you you look at that and you find out very quickly, okay, the issue is not discrimination, it's not even religious discrimination. The issue is America is a specific nation with a specific heritage of specific people and and a specific religion. And by necessity, by nature, we should discriminate in certain ways against other religions. We should be able to say as a country, Islam is evil. It's wrong. It's untrue. And it creates devastating consequences. And I know that some people want me to differentiate between regular Muslims and radical. I don't do that. I I'm unwilling to play that semantics game. If you're a non-practicing Muslim, then you're not really a Muslim and I don't call you one. You can say all day long, well, my friend's a Muslim and he doesn't believe in all this, then he's either lying to you or he's not actually a Muslim. And that's fine. It's not really fine. But it it's it you don't get to say, well, Muslim m some Muslims are good. No. If you're actually a Muslim, you're not. You are it is by nature evil. And so on that level, we should be able to discriminate against Islam and say, no, Islam is evil. And by nature, it should get less rights in America than a a true religion that this country is founded upon gets. Uh the Quran should not be up on the walls, but the Bible should, the Ten Commandments should. It's historically relevant. And it's true. And it's the foundation of our legal system and our justice system. And I know I know that's really deep into the philosophy of discrimination and civil rights, but the text in was was very deep philosophically too, so I wanted to give it a fair response. Because, yes, some discrimination is good. If there, if there were a water park owned by the city that had a Christians event, I'm gonna be honest with you, I would have no problem with that. Because, and I know that that that based on modern liberal ideology would make me sound like a hypocrite, but I'm telling you, it's not hypocritical because the two the two religions are not the same. You can't group all religions together and just say, well, that's religious discrimination. You can't do that because religions differ. One is true and the rest are not. One is American and the rest are not. One is the rooted foundations of this country and the others are not. And so if you are preferring Christianity from a governmental perspective, especially when you get into states' rights and and city rights, we have the full authority and really the obligation to do that. We should prefer Christianity. We should prefer Christian events, we should prefer spending money on Christian schools as opposed to Muslim schools. I have no problem with giving taxpayer-funded school choice funds to Christian schools. I do have an issue with giving it to Muslim schools. And that is not hypocritical and it is not morally or logically inconsistent because they're not the same. You don't just get to group all religions together and say, but you're preferring a religion. No, I'm preferring the true religion over the untrue ones. I'm preferring the religion of this country. I'm preferring this country's heritage over other countries' heritages that are wrong. That that's that's the preference level. And so that gets really deep into it, but I wanted to highlight that. And so uh we got another text and it says, Don't forget a classic clip that Muslims use the left to get votes, but hate the left. I I don't have time to watch the clip on air, but I'll take your word for it. That's what the clip kind of highlights. And yes, it's really funny because uh you you see all of these leftists who are chanting free Palestine, and you know, I'm not gonna get into we don't we don't do a lot of foreign policy on this show. I don't want to get into my positions on foreign policy right now. But the reality is that when you look at a lot of people that are saying free Palestine, free the Muslims, let the Muslims do what they want, it's like you know the Muslims would stone you or throw you from a rooftop, right? You you do realize that. Correct? You crazy blue-haired liberal feminist, the Muslims hate you. There's no tolerance for you. Go to Palestine. Go go to these places, see how that works out for you. It's it's not the kind of place that you seem to think that it is. But Islam as an ideology views you as an infidel, potentially, uh not potentially, but but inarguably a worse infidel because of the sins that you're committing according to the Quran, you would not have the same level of protection that you experience in the West if you had an Islamic takeover, which is where we're headed. And so, yeah, they use the left because they and they use they use the left and the right, by the way. This is why they also donate at the same time to right-wing campaigns, they cudgel the right into supporting them. They this is the same thing that you saw with Epic City, where they're trying to use uh r uh uh what they try to argue is a right-wing ideology of this rights-based version of the U.S. that says, well, we should have the right to have this community too, shouldn't we? We should have the same rights as everybody else. And they'll use that as a sort of battering ram to force you to believe that it is totally acceptable for them to have whatever they want. And as I just highlighted to the last texture, you know, it it's not true. We are not a melting pot of religions and peoples. We are Americans. And even if you're not necessarily a Bible-believing Christian who believes in, you know, the birth of Christ as f truly God and truly man, fully God, fully man, even if you don't believe in the death and resurrection of Christ, you're still living in a country that is rooted inherently in those beliefs, formed by men who believed that, created by men who believed that, who fought a war over that, and the right to express that belief. And the reality is that we we don't live in some random conglomerate nation of a bunch of random peoples thrown together with a variety of beliefs. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. That is not where we live. We live in a distinctly Christian country. In fact, all of the major blessings that we still experience, from rights to laws to justice that a lot of countries don't have, a lot of the first world economic blessings that we experience, a lot of it is because we're still experiencing the downpouring effects of being a Christian nation. Even when largely today we we as a nation don't worship Christ and don't put him first, we're still getting the blessings of men who did. And one day we're gonna lose those if we're not very cautious. One day we will be judged for the sins we're committing, uh, from abortion to LGBTQisms to Islamic influence. We will experience devastating consequences as a result of those things. That that that's inevitable. It's going to come if we don't if we don't stop all of this. And so we have to be willing to say things that are to m sensitive modern ears radical. We have to be willing to say and to do things that will often paint us as crazy crazy ideologues that will paint us as the radical. Far right Nazis. You have to be willing to say stuff that's going to inherently get you put in that camp. Right? You know that you're going to be put in that camp when you see people like Trump and Abbott put in that camp and you think to yourself, but they're far more moderate than I am. But I I I'm more conservative in policy and belief than those men. So where does that put me? You're going to be labeled every name in the book for your beliefs. And I always I always turn back into history because I think it's a fascinating way to kind of view the world. When you look at the historical sacrifices that were made by men much greater than I, and you look at what they were willing to go through and willing to do for the preservation of their people and their beliefs, it is so mind-boggling to me how people are put in a place of fear because people will ostracize them, people will insult them, call them names. It's like men were willing to die for this belief. Men were willing to die for what this country was rooted in. Men were willing to die for their faith. And we don't want to be called a mean name. We don't want to be insulted. I I mean it is an absolutely bizarre position to take. And unfortunately, that's where much of the modern right has gone. We've become fearful of insults and terminology. I know that we've bullied the term stochastic terrorism that the left sort of came up with that means that your words are terroristic in nature. But the reality is that we actually do fear it. We do treat stochastic terrorism as a real thing. We don't want to be insulted. We don't want to be called names. We don't want to be ostracized and thrown out. We don't want to be, we don't want to be, you know, talked to that way and treated that way. And so we we turn and we say, okay, I guess I'll I'll de-radicalize a bit. Right? That's where you start saying, okay, I don't have an issue with Islam. I have an issue with radical terrorist Muslims. I have an issue with jihadists. I guess I'll say that to keep myself a little safer. No. I I don't care about my personal safety. I don't care uh about making sure that I say the right things. And I mean not that I don't care about saying the right things, I guess I should rephrase that. I don't care about saying things that are modern sensitivities. I don't I don't care about appealing to that. I I can't. If I'm dedicated truly to the truth, if I'm dedicated to being honest, then I don't have time to consider the effects of what I say in regards to, well, that offended somebody. Well well, that was not very nice. Well well, that wasn't very sensitive. Well, that wasn't very tolerant of you, the word they like to throw out all the time. Tolerance. Well, I don't care. That's not my job. My job is not to be tolerant or nice or or inoffensive. My job is to speak the truth and to speak it and to speak it in love, of course, but to speak the truth. And the truth is that Muslim-only events are evil, that Islam is a scourge in this country, that we allowed in, an awful, terrible idea that we can already see the consequences of and will continue to see the downpouring consequences of as time goes forward. And we have to fix these issues. We have to. If we want if we want America to still exist, period, in fifty to a hundred years, we have to start taking very serious actions now to start fixing these problems and finding solutions to them. And that's gonna mean a vast change in how we view the Constitution and and not go by what the modern courts have ruled in regards to it. We have to start saying, I know that this is not going to be something that most people want to hear. Um, I know that this will probably result inevitably in maybe not being as popular, in maybe not being as famous, maybe not having as much of this or that. Doesn't matter. Because we're not called to be popular, we're not called to be famous, we're not called uh to be to be sensitive. We are called to be truth seekers and truth speakers. And that means in many instances that we're going to face repercussions, we're going to face insults, we're going to face war. And the war right now is a war of ideology, less than it is a war of physical right now. But that doesn't make it any easier, that doesn't make it any less important. And that's what I say I'll do on my show. That's what I will do on my show. That's what I'll continue to do on this show for as long as I'm given the blessing of having one. I'm going to continue to speak that truth. R regardless of what that the effects of that are. Now, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we will jump over and we will talk about these these Harris County, two Harris County judges who have now been sanctioned by the State Commission. Um, and that is um Judge Melissa Morris and and Judge Steve Duble. We'll talk about both of them when we get back from the break, why they were commissioned, kind of some background on that story. As always, if you would like to text into the show, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. I'm your host, Michael Wilson. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. And Lord willing, I will return to talk all about those Harris County judges after this short break. So hang tight, and we'll be right back.

Harris County Judges Sanctioned

SPEAKER_11

So two Democrat judges in Harris County have been publicly sanctioned by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. Both, by the way, are running for re-election in the November 2026 general election. Now the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, the SCJC, I'll just say it that way for short, released its orders uh just a couple days ago, late on Tuesday, so this didn't really come out until yesterday, issuing a public warning to Judge Melissa Morris and a public admonition and order of additional education to Judge Steve Duble. So let's uh let's address them one by one. We'll we'll start with Judge Melissa Morris. Uh Judge Melissa Morris of the 263rd District Court here in Houston has been publicly warned for multiple instances of judicial misconduct. Notably, Morris was found to have improperly issued discharge orders in four cases in which the defendants have pleaded guilty to a sex crime involving a child, which would require them, as it should, uh actually I disagree with this. I was about to say as it should, it would require them to register as sex offenders. I actually I don't think they should identify or be registered as sex offenders. Let let let the listener understand what I'm saying. I don't think that someone who committed a sex crime against children should be listed as a sex offender because I think they shouldn't be alive to register. That's that's what I'm saying. And so, according to the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, quote, the judge may dismiss the proceedings and just discharge a defendant before the expiration of the period of deferred adjudication community supervision, except that the judge may not dismiss the proceedings and discharge the defendant charged with an offense requiring the defendant to register as a sex offender. So there is a specific exemption that even if you're going to dismiss things, you can't take away that they must register as a sex offender. That is a requirement as a judge that we have an automatic thing that you have to apply. And so in response, Judge Morris, quote, acknowledged erroneously issuing the discharge orders, explaining she believed it would be saving the county time, money, and resources. Shortly after sentencing, each of the defendants in the four cases were deported back to their home country. Now, during hearings to reconsider the discharge orders, ascendant district attorney Ryan Kent represented the state. In December of 2024, Morris sent an email to Kent that included the Texas Lawyers' Creed, alleging a lack of professionalism and disrespect. She concluded the email by saying, please renew your commitment to professionalism as I am certain that District Attorney Shontier does not celebrate prosecutors who behave in a manner inconsistent with the mandate of respect and integrity. And so, in her response to the SCJC, Judge Morris reportedly denied she failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous towards Kent in sending the Kent email, clarifying it was not meant as a threat, but as a reminder of the requirements of professionalism in the courtroom. In a separate instance, Morris admittedly breached grand jury secrecy by forwarding an email chain from a member of law enforcement, featuring a request pursuant to grand jury subpoena. The chain was forwarded to the defendant's attorney as well as assistant attorney Barbara Phillips. Judge Morris told the Commission this was a mistake she made as a novice jurist trying to ensure that she was not violating her rules of ethics by having ex parte communications. Morris reportedly denied any of her actions were made in bad faith, the result of bias, or that they cast any sort of public discredit upon the judiciary. The Commission, of course, said that's insane and found that Judge Morris should be publicly warned for failing to comply with and maintain professional competence in the law and failing to be patient, identified, and courteous. Judge Morris's failures in the foregoing respects constituted willful and persistent conduct that is clearly inconsistent with the proper performance of her duties and casts public discredit on the judiciary or on the administration of justice. Last year, she also made headlines for reportedly showing animosity toward domestic violence victims, including allegations that she applauded and laughed after a not guilty verdict. And prosecutors began pushing to have her removed from such cases. Judge Morris assumed office in January of 2023. She is currently running again for re-election. She advanced from the Democrat primary back in March and is being ch challenged by Republican Jason Campo. And so let's go into the next one, Judge Steve Duble. The SG the SCJC also publicly admonished Judge Steve Dubal, same time, ordering that he receive additional education. Duble serves as the Harris County Justice of the Peace for Precinct One, Place Two. In two separate cases, Judge Dubal is found to have signed orders terminating receivership without providing notice to any of the parties or conducting a hearing. For some background, receivership, for those who are not aware, uh is this sort of legal, I'll say remedy where the court kind of takes a third party uh that's supposed to be neutral, the receiver, hence receivership, to manage if a business is being liquided or uh liquidated or property is being liquidated, that it goes to a neutral third party, just to make sure that things are safe, secure, et cetera. And so apparently he found orders terminating that receivership without any sort of notice or or any sort of hearing to decide why that would happen. He just signed it and said, You're done. Uh Casey Boschick, a court-appointed receiver, served in the matters until the debts were satisfied. And so they kind of go through and say, You failed to conduct personal property exemption hearings within 10-day period required by the Texas rule of civil procedure. And so, according to the commission, the SCJC, they said Judge Duble admitted that he dropped the ball on seven cases wherein he failed to timely hear the protected property exemption claim during his first six months in office, and on three cases during his predecessor's term that he failed to set in a timely manner. Judge Dubal denied failing to comply with the law and maintaining professional competence in a law by stating the failure to conduct hearings had nothing to do with ignoring or not understanding the law. It was an oversight during my initial chaotic months in office. So a pretty similar claim. I I was a novice in this position. I didn't really know what my job was. Can you imagine if I showed up for my first day of radio, I got on here, and I just the whole time talked about sports. I just spent literally the whole time talking about all the announcements coming from the Astros, coming out from the Texans, uh coming out from the Cadet, all of the different sports teams. And that was what I spent my time doing. Rightfully, my boss would say, okay, don't think you're the right guy for this job. I think maybe at bare minimum, I need to admonish you. We need some sort of, I don't want to say hearing, we need some sort of conversation because that's not what I hired you to do. We have sports talk. That's great. That's not your job. You are a morning drive host on a political talk news station. Can you please talk political news? That's all I'm asking for. And so uh the commission therefore ordered this particular judge, this guy, to receive additional education. He said pursuant to this order, Judge Dubal must obtain two hours of instruction with a mentor, in addition to his required annual judicial education for fiscal year 2026. In particular, the commission desires that Judge Dubal receive two hours of this additional education in the areas of timely execution of the business of the court and protected property claims. And so he has to complete that instruction within 60 days from the date of that written notification. So that was from Tuesday. He also, by the way, is currently running for re-election, though I'd like to highlight he faces no Republican challenger in the November 3rd general election, which means we're dropping the ball as a party again. Right? We have a guy who's having to receive additional education because he's not doing his job correctly. That is a phenomenal opportunity to come in and say, hey, here's my campaign. Do you want someone, regardless of if you if you agree with them on everything, do you want someone who's actually going to do the job and doesn't need additional education to do bare minimum? Right? This isn't just, you know, going above and beyond. I'm not saying do you even want somebody who goes above and beyond, though I will. Do you want someone who's merely going to at least do the job correctly, who does, who doesn't need more education to get things done, who's just gonna show up and show out and do what needs to be done? If that's what you're looking for, don't re-elect the guy who is literally currently facing additional education from the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for misconduct. And the same thing uh for the other judge, for for Melissa Morris. Same thing. Do you want a judge who's not being publicly admonished and warned? Do you want a judge who's not improperly issuing discharge orders and laughing at domestic vi alleged domestic violent victims? Is d do you want somebody else? I think you do. I mean, even if you're a Democrat, I think you probably prefer that you have somebody else in that position. Well, that means you got to elect the Republican this time. And so I I think that that would be a phenomenal campaign to run with. Uh if if somebody wants to do that, you know, we this is this is the sort of opportunities that we have in front of us. Now, with that being said, when we get back from the break, we're gonna talk a little bit about a left-wing group. I'll say groups, it's plural, because it's more than one, uh, who have now filed a new lawsuit against the Texas border enforcement law. And so a federal appeals court dismissed the previous lawsuit against the measure last month. And now we've got this new coalition uh that's filing to block key provisions of Senate Bill 4, which is our landmark border enforcement law. And so we'll find it's a class action suit. I think it includes the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, and the Civil Texas Civil Rights Project. And we'll talk all about what that case entails and what they're asking for when we get back from the break. If you would like to text in the show, questions, disagreements, concerns, the number is 713-779-5978. That is 713-779-KYST. You're listening to the Lone Star Conservative. I'm your host, Michael Wilson, and I'll be right back after the break. So hang tight. Don't go anywhere.

You don't need to be talking to phone operators in other countries that you don't know who they are, where they are, or what in the world they're doing.

New Lawsuit Targets Texas SB4

SPEAKER_11

Texas Civil Rights Project have now filed a new lawsuit asking a federal judge to issue emergency relief before SB4 goes into effect on May 15th. For reference, it's eight, it's a week away. It's eight days. It's next Friday, is when it will go into effect. The plaintiffs are targeting several core provisions of the law that was passed back in 2023, including the power of Texas magistrates to issue deportation orders and penalties tied to illegal aliens who fail to comply with those orders. The filing marks just the latest attempt to derail one of the strongest state level immigration enforcement laws in the country. It was passed again back in 2023. SB4 makes it not only a federal crime, but it's a state law. It makes it a state crime to enter Texas illegally from a foreign country outside an official port of entry and give state and local law enforcement authority to arrest those accused of doing so. The law had been tied up in court literally since it was passed, until the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals lifted a district court injunction last month. So for three years we've had a law that's done nothing. And last month, the fifth the Fifth Circuit out of New Orleans finally said, Yeah, this is not gonna happen. You can't block the law, there's no legal ramif that you can't do that. It is going to go into effect, and they of course set it out, usually about a month away, they set it out for May 15th. And so the ruling did not settle the underlying constitutional issues, but instead found that the original plaintiffs lacked standing. And so under the new lawsuit, the left-wing groups are asking the court to stop four provisions for any effect, which includes the magistrate issued removal orders, criminal penal criminal penalties for failing to abide by those orders, a requirement that prosecutions continue even when a person has a pending federal immigration case, and a re-entry provision that they should apply to some people who later receive lawful status or permission to return. And so Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick came out and defended the law, saying that SB4 was one of the few measures he personally wrote. He said the bill gives local law enforcement the right to arrest and detain illegal border crossers and called it an important tool for Texas to secure the border when the federal government refuses to act, which, by the way, you have to remember what was going on in 2023 when we passed this law. Right? Largely, and I'm not saying it's not of benefit, but to a large degree. We understand under the Trump administration that, you know, Texas is is fairly safe from a federal perspective. We have a federal government that has closed the border. We don't have like almost anybody coming over anymore. If anybody at all. I don't think we have anybody coming over anymore. And so, you know, it's it's a different time. But we know what it's like to be under that would be like coming out now and saying, Oh, yeah, we don't need to worry about vaccine mandates because we have Trump in. Yeah, but we know people like Biden are going to do. Uh, should Kamala Harris run again or Gavin Newsom run again, and God forbid they actually win the next presidential election. I think it's fair, I think it's very fair to come out and just say, you know, maybe we should be thinking ahead and using history to think ahead. Seeing, you know, the patterns that have played out, nothing new under the sun, you know, should we get a really terrible president, really terrible federal administration in, we don't want to be in the dangerous position where we're back to square one and we're back to mass, mass importation of of illegal aliens into our country. And we're saying, you know, there's just nothing we can do about it. So we passed this law in the middle of the Biden administration. We said, you know, we don't act, we want Texas to have our own authority here. Clearly, we need to have our own ability to defend our border, should the federal government not be doing it, or in in in certain cases, to even assist, right? Even if you have a good presidential administration, I don't think it can hurt to have the state also assisting on that and saying, hey, we're like the number one state for for illegal aliens, maybe we should also have some state responses in addition to aid the federal government in what they're doing. And so uh Patrick said in a statement, quote, I've always believed it was constitutional and that it would be a model for other border states. He also blasted open border activists for continuing to challenge the law and praised Donald Trump as a strong partner in closing the southern border. Now, if the plaintiffs do not receive emergency relief, because there's no way this case actually plays out in the next eight days. It's just literally impossible that this that this actually goes through trial in the next eight days. And so what they're asking for essentially is hey, while the trial is playing out, can you grant us relief? What that means is that those things the the law is viable, but then it will not go into effect until the trial concludes. And so if they don't win that, then SP4 will go into effect in eight days on May 15th, uh, which will set up another major legal shutdown over Texas enforcement on immigration law. It'll be another big showdown, kind of saying, hey, how's this gonna go? In the meantime, at least we can carry out deportations as a state and not only rely on federal agents to do so. I I think this is absolutely insane. Do I understand that immigration largely is under the purview of the federal government? Certainly. It it is. But what do you do when the federal government isn't doing their job? This is why we understood at the beginning of our country we were these United States of America. Where do you think USA? I know we shorten it and call it America a lot of the time, but the country is the United States of America. We're not we're not actually just America. We're not just a single nation. We are a nation made up of states, different from the way that a lot of countries operate. And that's very important to the way that we end up operating. It means that states have a significant number of rights in how they handle a variety of issues. It's why when we've talked about the First Amendment before, you know, we talked about the First Amendment, we say, hey, you know, uh, the First Amendment was never intended to apply to the states. It was a it was a federal mandate. It was a federal prohibition. It was saying the federal government can't do some of these things, but the state governments absolutely have the right to. And so when you talk about federal immigration and you talk about immigration in general, I think it's very important that you you distinctify and you say, hey, you know, do I think that largely immigration is the the job of the federal government? Yes. Protecting us from threats foreign and domestic is the the really it should be the main job of the federal government. Not welfare, not no, it should be the protection of our country and our people. But states also need to have a level of authority to make sure that we're able to defend ourselves when the government when the federal government won't. Um and also the people need to be able to defend themselves. And, you know, by the blessings that God has given us, unlike the First Amendment, the Second Amendment actually can't be infringed upon by local government, state government, or the federal government, which is why you should become a member of our sponsor, Gun Owners of America. Gun Owners of America understands the Second Amendment applies to all governments and it is a prohibition on the regulation of your firearms. You have the right to keep and bear arms, which shall not be infringed. And that means you've got to clamp down on a lot of different issues, right? If you start allowing bad candidates to be elected to office, what are you gonna get? Well, by nature, you're gonna get bad bills. And so, of course, they do the precursor work of campaigning for candidates who support and defend the Second Amendment. That also means that once those candidates are in, that we, of course, have to compel them and lobby to make sure that we're passing good bills and making sure that bad bills are are stopped in their tracks. That also means that sometimes bad bills are gonna get through. They're gonna get passed. And when that happens, we need an organization, a lobby group, that will come in and they will sue to shut that ordinance or that law down. And so they do all those things while also keeping, of course, everyone informed through their grassroots campaigns. If you would like to learn more or become a member, you can go to goahhouston.com. That is G-O-Ahouston.com. It is a $25 a year membership, $25 annually, of which every single penny goes right back into doing this crucial work to defend and support your God-given, constitutionally enshrined rights. That is G-Oahuston.com. With that being said, when we get back from the break to wrap up the show this morning, we're going to talk about questions surrounding Galena Park. Uh, because now we've had this transition of power after you had the city secretary resign and the mayor elect raise some concerns about what's going on. Galena Park Transition Transparency Questions

SPEAKER_11

Mayor-elect Oscar Morella said he came to City Hall Monday expecting to discuss next steps after winning the recent election. Instead, he says he learned the city secretary had abruptly resigned after more than twenty years with the city. He said at some point during that day, we found out the City Secretary who's been here for twenty two years decided to abruptly quit. The situation escalated further when Morella says he witnessed current Galena Park mayor Esmerel Demoya and another man outside City Hall loading items into a black pickup truck. Video shows a black pickup truck loaded with filled trash bags outside City Hall. He said, I saw them take out one computer tower. My wife saw they had a bag with documents in it. Morell said he's not accusing anyone of wrongdoing, but says the lack of communication surrounding the city's transition has raised concerns among residents. He said, I understand you have personal belongings. I don't have a problem with that, but it's just a total lack of communication. And so according to an email sent to Morellus by the city secretary, the election cannot yet be officially canvassed until provisional ballots and other outstanding ballots are reviewed. The email states the following Mr. Morellus, please see below the rules on when canvassing will be held. The canvassing of the election cannot be done until the provisional ballots are returned from Harris County, which are normally returned within two or three business days, and the ballot board convenes to approve or deny any provisional ballots. I'll be posting the canvassing of the election to be held on May 13th, 2026 at 6 PM. The final canvas is the local canvas for cities, schools, and other uniform local political subdivisions. And so Morella says the sudden resignation of the city secretary has left him uncertain about how the certification process will move forward. He said, We're just stuck. We're waiting on the state to tell us what we need to do next. And so under Texas law, election results are not considered official until they are formally canvassed by the appropriate governing body. And so Morella says part of his motivation for running for mayor stemmed from what he describes as a lack of transparency inside city government, which is only being highlighted all the more by the actual transition to a new mayoral administration. And so he's saying he's saying that residents feel excluded from city meetings and city decision making. He said in 2026, you have no excuses why you can't even put the meetings online. And so, um, Mayor Moya, the city secretary, none of them are, you know, responding to any media requests. Uh, though the city canvassing of the election is still expected to take place on May 13th, we're just not hearing a ton, um, which is why this guy ran from air in the first place. I think it's very important. I said this so many times, especially when it gets to local government. As you get higher up the food chain, uh, there's an expected level with national security and other issues where you're not going to hear as many details about every single operation. When you're at the local government level, there should be a level of connection between local government and their constituents, the people they're they're elected to serve. That should be very straightforward, very transparent, and very clear. And when you don't have that, unlike when you get to the federal level, there ends up being a whole lot less credibility. People stop trusting their local government. And that gets incredibly dangerous because then people aren't participating. And when you don't have civic participation, you get a whole lot of worse results as a compounding effect of that. And so, as we've highlighted on the show a ton, that's why we we primarily are a local show and a local station, is that we can have direct effects on what happens here in Houston, what happens wherever you live. If you live in Galvison County, Brisoria County, Fort Bend County, Montgomery County, Chambers County, wherever you live, Harris County obviously, we want to make sure that we're we're very focused on those local issues because we can have the most effects and where there should be the most transparency for us to have those

effects. With that being said, that'll do it for the show today. As always, I appreciate everyone tuning in. We got a lot of textings today. Thanks so much for everyone that texted in.
