Podcast Title: Words for the Soul, Food for the Heart

Episode Title: Faith and Focus: Inviting God Into Your 2025 Goals

Opening:

“Hello, friends! Welcome to Words for the Soul, Food for the Heart” Podcast … and today, we’re talking about something that can change your entire year—Faith and Focus.

No matter where you are in life, no matter how strong your faith is or isn’t, I want you to know this: You have what it takes to move forward, to rise, and to achieve what you’ve set your heart on … for 2025.

Today, I want to share a story with you—a story about a young woman named Maya. Her story is about resilience, … pure … determination, and the power of faith and focus.

It’s a story that belongs to all of us, regardless of what path we’re on, what goals we’re chasing, or what challenges we face.

So sit back, open your heart, and let’s dive in together.”

Segment 1: Maya’s Story – The Power of Faith

So … “Let me introduce you to Maya—a young woman, full of dreams and hope, ready to take on the world.

From the time she was just a little girl, Maya had one goal: to become a doctor. She wanted to heal, to help, to be a light in the darkness.

But more than that, Maya believed in the God of dreams.

She trusted that God had placed this vision in her heart, and she had unwavering faith that with His guidance, her dreams would one day come to life.”

But life didn’t make it easy for her. Her family struggled to make ends meet. Every step toward her dream felt like climbing a mountain in the middle of a storm. She worked three jobs to make her dream a reality, pouring every ounce of strength she had … into it.

Then, just when she thought she was making progress, life’s circumstances …

threw her a crushing blow.

Maya fell seriously ill. Every dollar she had saved went to medical bills. She had to drop out of school.

There she was, sitting in her tiny apartment, staring at her medical textbooks,  feeling powerless … crushed and broken.

She thought, ‘Maybe this isn’t for me. Maybe I’m not cut out for this.’

But in that dark moment, something stirred deep inside her.

It wasn’t loud at first—just a whisper—but it grew into a roar: That something … said …

‘Get up! … You were made for more!

You have a fire…  inside you … that cannot … be put out!’

“But in that dark moment, something stirred deep inside her. It wasn’t loud at first—just a whisper—but it grew into a roar: ‘Get up! You were made for more! You have a fire inside you that cannot be put out!’

Let me pause right here and ask you: What was happening in that moment?

Who … do you think it was … whispering that message … to Maya?

Was it her own inner strength … finally breaking through … the noise of self-doubt?

Was it the voice of her faith—the quiet … but unshakable assurance that God wasn’t done … with her yet?

It was ‘the Spirit of Life’!

It was the Spirit that had given Maya life … in the first place!

To be sure … whenever … any of us get in those dark places, or places of deciding to quit … on life and quit on ourselves …

‘the Life-Giving Spirit’ … implores us to… Live in and Live through … our struggles—not

as though … we are weak, … but as those … who have been powered … to Live … with strength … even in … struggling places!

In 2 Corinthians Chapter 12, the Apostle Paul … was wrestling  … with a burden that had deeply affected him.

He describes asking God three times to remove this struggle from his life. And in verse 9, God responds with these powerful words: “My grace … is sufficient … for you, for my power … is made perfect … in weakness.”

This is a profound reminder. that … Part of a focused faith …comes from recognizing that we are not  …in this thing alone!

The second part of a focused faith … is knowing … that not only …are we not alone,

but there is a power … source with us—

ready to power … us up … when … we are down, … to coach us … and coax us … along the way!

This source of power, … God’s power … is more … than sufficient … to help us,

to lead us … and to breathe … life … back into us … when circumstances … have drained it…  from us!

See we … don’t always have to have the answers …  to how to combat every struggle we face!  Sometimes … we just …think … that we do!

———

Maya’s … church family … rallied around her … during her … illness.

And little health care clinic in their neighborhood … provided … her affordable care …

as she regained her strength … within six months.

broke through her financial struggles by combining resourcefulness, faith, and support from her community:

Even more … a member of the congregation, who owned a small business, offered her light work … from home …so …. she could manage … her basic needs … while recovering.

And lastly … because of Maya’s … exceptional grades …  the college … scholarship … committee … awarded her a scholarship  … that covered … tuition!

Maya not only returned to school  …. but excelled … completing her degree with honors and paving the way  … to becoming the Doctor she had always dreamed … of … becoming as a little girl.

————

That’s Maya’s story … BUT IT’S … ALSO … OUR STORY!

SO LET. ME ASK YOU ….

WHAT … THINGS  … ARE YOU FOCUSING ON … OR … PLAN … ON …GETTING ACCOMPLISHED?

AND RIGHT OUT … THE GATE … YOU ALREADY MIGHT BE … STRUGGLING … WITH IT?

REAL TALK!

See Focus isn’t just about … willpower—it’s a tool.

It’s the compass …that helps you navigate … the struggle’s and the storms … and …keeps you aligned …. with your purpose.

SO … LET’S … LOOK AT IT … AND I NEED YOU … TO WORK ALONG WITH ME … BECAUSE YOU … KNOW … THE SITUATION AND … I DON’T!

SO GET A PEN AND NOTEPAD … AND LETS … WORK TOGETHER!

WHAT ARE YOU INTENDING … TO DO .. THIS YEAR?

——————————-

BECAUSE … YOU HAVE TO CLARIFY … YOUR VISION ABD GOALS!

FOCUS STARTS … WITH KNOWING WHAT … YOU … WANT!

SO … WRITE DOWN THESE THREE QUESTIONS.

NUMBER ONE …

• What do I truly want to accomplish?

NUMBER TWO

• Why is this important to me?

NUMBER THREE ask yourself …

• What will success look like when I achieve it?

You can’t focus on what you can’t define. Take time to PRAY first to get vision and direction to clearly  help you identify your goals!  There are seed idea’s inside all of us but we need the seed giver to help

Show us what and why so that we can answer these questions.

And when you get those Answers then Write it down!

A focused mind needs a clear target!

This will be your blueprint.

Whether it’s finishing your degree, building a business, or improving your health.

Your vision is the destination  … that your focus … will guide you … toward!

Your vision is the destination that your focus … will guide you toward!

Listen , once you have declared and defined your goals and Intentions …

Then Take Concrete Action!

What down one goal concerning your Plans today!

Then, break it into smaller, actionable steps.

For example,  …. if your goal is to save $5,000 for the year …

Start with a plan  … to save … $100 a week.

52 weeks in a year … times a $100 is actually $5,044.

See … how I did … that?

Clarity  … gives focus  … a direction  … to follow!

Come … on!

Then … Hey … like Maya … You gotta …  Learn … to Block … out … the Noise!

And … Protect … your … Mental Space!

Life’s circumstances … can and often … will  …. throw distractions …  your way—doubts,  …. will come

critics, … will show … up

unexpected challenges,  … yeah will appear

and  … even …  your own fears … will start to try … keep you … right where you are … because it want’s you to think … it’s the safest place to be!

But … God … has given you a New Vision .,, and A New Focus!

Focus  … requires you … to silence the noise … and prioritize …  what truly matters!

And When you feel overwhelmed … pause and pray!

And … ask:  … Does this (thing that has cropped up) … move me closer to my goal, …

or … is it … pulling me away?

Your focus …  is like a  … flashlight …  in the dark;  …

aim it  … where it counts!

Start using the “2-Minute Rule.”

When faced with distractions or decisions,  … take two minutes …

to evaluate  … if  ………………. it aligns …….. with your goals!

If it doesn’t … then … move on!

Lastly …

3. Take Consistent … Deliberate Steps!

Small Wins  … Build  … Big Victories!

Focus is not about perfection— … it’s about consistency!

Progress happens  … when you take  … deliberate steps daily,  …

even when motivation runs … low  … or the road feels hard!

Remember … Maya didn’t achieve her dream overnight!

She fought  …. one day … one chapter … and one shift  … at a time!

Each night … I need you …. to plan … three specific tasks … for the next day … that will bring you … closer

 to your goal and Intentions!

For example, if you’re starting a new business … your tasks might include  … researching funding options … (how am I going to pay for this business.) … or … it might be …. researching your competition … reaching out to find a mentor,  … or … maybe even … setting up a website … if you are at that stage.

Whatever … it … is …

Celebrate  … each  …small win … they’ll add up  … over time!

So as you move through this new year, let faith be your foundation and focus be your guide. Trust in the process, believe in your vision, and keep moving forward—no matter how steep the climb!

I … want … to Thank you for doing … this … deep work today … and for … tuning into Words for the Soul, Food for the Heart.

Remember, you are stronger than you know, and your best days are still ahead of you!

If … this Podcast is helping … you … do me a favor and … be courageous … share it … with someone … you know … who needs it!

Until next time … stay inspired … stay focused …  keep the faith … and keep Your head … to … the … Sky!”

Closing Thought:

Focus isn’t just about willpower—it’s a tool. It’s the compass that helps you navigate the storms and keeps you aligned with your purpose. As you set your intentions for 2025, remember to clarify your vision, block out distractions, and take consistent steps.

With these tools in your hands, you’re not just setting goals—you’re building the bridge to your future. Let your focus fuel your faith, and let your faith empower your focus. Together, they’ll take you farther than you’ve ever imagined.

————————————-

Think about those moments in your life when you felt like giving up. When you were at your lowest, …

wasn’t there something—a whisper, a nudge, a word of encouragement—that told you, “Get up  … and let’s go!”?

We all have stories like that. Those are the very moments we must recall … when struggles come.

They remind us … that challenges … are not designed …  to hold us back …

but are … to awaken the strength that sometimes lies dormant within us.

The struggles you face don’t define your limits; …

they reveal the depth of strength, power, and faith … that already … exists within … you!  They wake up … the strength in you!

Just as Maya rediscovered her fire in the midst of her darkest hour, so can we. The same life-giving Spirit that revived her dreams and purpose is ready to revive yours, too. Let it guide your faith and focus as you step into all that you are called to do in 2025.

That whisper, that divine nudge, is available to all of us if we choose to listen.

It’s the reminder that no matter how far we fall or how heavy the load, there’s still more ahead for us. It’s the Spirit of Life declaring, ‘I am with you! Rise and move forward!’

That whisper—that unshakable faith—was what carried Maya forward. She decided to rise, to fight, to keep moving even when the odds were against her. One page at a time, one step at a time, she clawed her way back … into school.

And let me tell you,  … she didn’t just become a doctor.

She became a living testimony … to the power of faith.”

Segment 2: The Role of Focus – Staying the Course

“Maya’s journey wasn’t just about faith. It was about focus. She could have been distracted by her pain, by her setbacks, or by the voices that told her she couldn’t do it. But instead, she locked in on her goal and refused to let go.

Focus is about more than just setting a goal. It’s about staying the course when life tries to pull you in a hundred different directions.

Matthew 6:33 says, ‘Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’ For Maya, her focus was on her calling—to heal, to serve, to make a difference. She didn’t have all the answers, but she took one deliberate step at a time.

And that’s what I want to encourage you to do this year. Whether your goal is to finish school, start a business, repair a relationship, or simply take better care of yourself, stay focused. Don’t let the noise of the world drown out the voice of your purpose.”

Segment 3: Faith and Focus for Your Journey

“Maya’s story … belongs to all of us. Whether you’re a believer, someone searching for faith, or someone just trying to figure it all out, the principles of faith and focus can transform your life.

Here’s how you can invite faith and focus into your 2025 goals:

1. Believe in Something Bigger Than Yourself: You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to take that first step … and trust … that the path … will unfold. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.’

So … here’s how you begin ….

2. Write Down Your Goals: Writing your goals isn’t just a task—it’s a declaration of faith. Habakkuk 2:2 says, ‘Write the vision and make it plain.’ When you write it down, you’re telling the world, ‘This is what I’m working toward, and I believe it’s possible.’

3. Take One Step at a Time: Just like Maya, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to keep moving forward, one step at a time. Faith without action is dead, but action fueled by faith? That’s where transformation happens.”

Closing:

“Maya’s story is proof that no matter how hard life knocks you down, you can rise again. The same fire that burned in Maya burns in you. It’s the fire of resilience, of hope, and of purpose.

So as you move through this new year, let faith be your foundation and focus be your guide. Trust in the process, believe in your vision, and keep moving forward—no matter how steep the climb.

Thank you for tuning into Words for the Soul, Food for the Heart. Remember, you are stronger than you know, and your best days are still ahead. Until next time, stay inspired, stay focused, and keep the faith.”

Let me know if this captures the heart of what you’re envisioning!
