3, 2, 1. Good morning, good afternoon and good evening, or whatever time you're joining in. My name is Xavier, and welcome to the Xavier Zenith Show. Here we talk about news, current events, play games and hear people's crazy stories. This is episode number 16, and this is the full show. Welcome to season one and thank you for being one of the first ones to join me on this journey.
Speaker 1:What's up y'all? I think it's time for some hot topics buzzing around right now. But first and foremost, I wanted to send my prayers out to those who are affected by the LA fires. I'm terribly sorry for your loss and everything you're going through. I pray that God be with you and your family during these unsettling times. Just a reminder to those not affected by the fire that just because you're not affected by it, it doesn't mean that this isn't a serious matter. This LA fire is supposedly the largest fire in California history and there are many videos circulating as to what has caused the fire.
Speaker 1:But even then, tiktok has been a key asset for people to communicate during stressful times too. Changing gears a little bit, tiktok has helped so many more people than you can ever imagine Helping people get key resources or get them to safe facilities, immigrants, people during times of distress facilities, immigrants, people during times of distress. Tiktok has been there for people, for communication reasons and for so much more, not just during the LA fires, but even during other natural disasters and even during the 2020 pandemic. Remember, tiktok really launched, it took off during the COVID years and really brought millions, if not billions, of people together to find their own communities where you feel heard and validated. Yes, we all may not have agreements and have the same beliefs, but give us a platform to be seen and be heard and to have an opinion. We all learned along the way and we've come far as a society, as a world, to really see new perspectives and really learn something new. I'm sad it's most likely going to get banned in the US because I can't use it anymore. Goodbye, tiktok, you'll be missed like vine.
Speaker 1:And where are we going next after TikTok? I don't know, but I heard of an app called Yao Hong Shu, translated directly to Little Red Book, but Americans like me. Calling it Red Note is the number one app downloaded right now in the app store at the time of this being posted, and Red Note is a literal Chinese app. That is funny. We're leaving TikTok because America says China can't have our data. But we're going to a literal Chinese app, zhehongshu red note, and this app is being colonized by us Americans. I say colonized because we are the TikTok refugees. Tiktok refugees can you believe that?
Speaker 1:Oh and by the way, xiao Hongshu, the literal translation being Little Red Book, stands for the Communist Party, meaning so for the fact that TikTokers like me are migrating to a Chinese app that references communism because Little Red Book is from the fascist Communist Party. It's ironic as hell. That's crazy, right? But anyways, now I can continue my love for Squid Game and see everyone's opinions and theories again on the Netflix series. Oh, by the way, the first episode back was wild, and all I wanted to say about that is that it amazes me More, like it's shocking to see how people will choose the lottery ticket over some fresh bread. I understand it's a metaphor for our society as Americans that will gamble at the tiniest chance to change our lives, even if it means to sacrifice your own basic needs for the moment, even if we're not doing well to begin with. But what are your thoughts on everything that's happening right now, from the natural disasters to the conspiracies, to TikTok, to Squid Game. I want to know what are you thinking right now. But first let's get into the top news of the week.

Speaker 1:Road-tripping auntie broke up with husband and tradition to travel around China, becoming viral celebrity For millions of Chinese women. This road-tripping grandmother divorcee is an inspirational figure of freedom from convention. Separating from an abusive, violent husband, she has spent the last four years traveling around her vast country all alone, while amassing a gargantuan social media following that refers to her affectionately as Auntie. Reporting from Beijing, bbc's Chinese correspondent Laura Bicker spoke with social media celebrity Su Min about her adventures and the marriage she has worked hard to terminate. Quote I was a traditional woman and I wanted to stay in my marriage or life", she says quote. But eventually I saw that I got nothing in return for all my energy and effort, only beatings, violence, emotional abuse and gaslighting. End quote.
Speaker 1:Virtually her whole life has been that of a traditional Confucian woman, supporting her brothers, then supporting her husband, then supporting her daughter and then supporting her granddaughters. Throughout it all, however, life was brutally hard with her husband, whom she married via arrangement, diagnosed with depression. After nearly 40 years together, she made an agreement with her daughter that after the grandkids have left kindergarten, she would leave her husband, a promise she kept in the most extraordinary way, after watching a TikTok video of a couple living together in a van and traveling the country, she thought this was her way out. Even the country's COVID-19 response couldn't stop Su Min, who told her husband in 2019 that they were finished and entered into divorce court, where she paid out a settlement of around $21,000. Shortly thereafter, she was on the road in a Volkswagen hatchback with a rooftop tent, a pension and true liberty.

She hopes to take her travels internationally, but is afraid of language barriers. Many of the travel experiences she enjoys are little acts of defiance, allegorically even in the face of her old life Not just visiting a street market in her home province of Anand, but stopping to smell the chili peppers her husband forbade her from bringing into the home. Sue never imagined becoming a figure of inspiration, but believes that all women, no matter where they're from or what their circumstances are, must be good to themselves. Quote. I want to tell you that no matter how old you are, as long as you work hard, you will definitely find your answer, just like me. Even though I'm 60 now, I found what I was looking for. End quote. Constitutional rights were suspended in some cases and many were charged and imprisoned without due process of law, something that the administration has been criticized for. It's difficult to argue with the results, however, since in 2015, el Salvador witnessed 6,656 homicides, placed among war zones as one of the most dangerous countries on the planet. Residents of the capital, san Salvador, told AP News that they can safely walk the streets again, where before, the gangs controlled the movement of people in and out of the neighborhoods.

Document was referenced in a movie called National Treasure, where Nicolas Cage tries to steal this document. The answer pause, if you need more time. Is the Declaration of Independence. Pretty easy, right? The Declaration of Independence is the document that declared America's independence from Britain. Fair enough, easy, right. How are you doing so far? Feeling pretty good. Well, you should, because let's move on to number three.
Speaker 1:A little bit of geography. Expanding your minds, broadening, going abroad. Please name me the capital city. Expanding your minds, broadening, going abroad Please name me the capital city of France. What is the capital city of France? The answer where Ratatouille is taking place is Paris. Speaker 1:What is the term for animals that are active during the night? What is the term for animals that are active during the night and sleep during the day? These are what? The answer is nocturnal, nocturnal animals. They're the ones who are awake at night. Some of you are night owls, some of you claim to be nocturnal. Are awake at night. Some of you are night owls, some of you claim to be nocturnal. Items are fine. Have you gotten one out of four right? Three out of four, right?
Speaker 1:Let's move on to number five. This one's gonna be pretty tricky. So check ego, because here's the question, bringing it back history. What was the name of the ship? So the name of the ship, right, that Charles Darwin traveled on during his voyage to study species? So what was the name of the ship that Charles Darwin traveled on during his voyage to study species? Ah, we thought you were smart, but do you know this? But here is your hint the name of the ship is the same as a popular small dog breed known for its great sense of smell, and I will be only accepting full answers, not partial answers. You will get full credit for the full answer. Okay, so the answer pause if you need more time is hms beagle. Here is the dad joke of the week. Why was Cinderella so bad at soccer? She kept running away from the ball.
Speaker 1:Have you ever thought about why people love collecting things, from rare coins to action figures, to little rocks or seashells on the floor? Humans have an enduring fascination with collecting. But what is it that drives us to gather, store and display various items? Gather, store and display various items? Is it about nostalgia, personal value, or could there be a deeper psychological reason behind this common behavior? Let's get into it. So, with nostalgia and sentimentality being sentimental with these things, emotional ties to the past. For many collectors, the items they seek hold sentimental value. Collecting becomes a way to reconnect with cherished memories or experiences from the past, such as childhood toys or memorabilia from a favorite era For some of you. Some collect Pokemon cards, some collect Dragon Ball figurines, some collect sports memorabilia from the college that they attended or their favorite NFL team. There's tangible connection to memories. A physical object can bring back strong emotions or memories, making the act of collecting deeply personal. The nostalgia linked to these items allows people to preserve a piece of their history and relive it through their collection.
Speaker 1:The Psychology of Ownership. So there's a sense of control. Collecting offers a feeling of control as individuals carefully curate and organize their items. It provides a sense of ownership over a particular area of interest, whether it's comic books, vintage records or antique furniture. In this day and age, a lot of people don't necessarily own things, so let's be a little bit more respectful and mindful of people's collections, mastery and Expertise. Building a collection also creates a sense of mastery. The more knowledge someone gains about what they collect, such as identifying rare pieces or learning the history behind an item, the more expertise and pride they feel, which enhances their sense of accomplishment.
Speaker 1:The Thrill of the Hunt, dopamine and Anticipation. The thrill of the hunt, dopamine and anticipation. The pursuit of rare or unique items triggers the release of dopamine in the brain, creating a thrill similar to the excitement experienced in games or competitions. The excitement isn't just about owning the item. It's about the process of finding it item. It's about the process of finding it. Like the reward cycle, finding a long-sought after piece can feel immensely satisfying. This dopamine-driven reward cycle keeps collectors motivated to continue their search, constantly chasing the next big find.
Speaker 1:But in collecting there's a sense of identity and self-expression, so reflecting personal interests. A person's collection often says something about who they are. Collecting becomes a form of self-expression, showcasing interests, values and passions. Whether it's collecting comic books or vintage cars, the collection reflects the collector's identity While creating a legacy. For some, collections are about creating something lasting that can be passed down through generations. These collectors view the items as part of their personal legacy, ensuring their interests lives on.
Speaker 1:But as well, there's the social aspect of collecting, the community and connection. While collectors often belong to communities where they share their passion, whether it's attending conventions, joining online forums like Discord, reddit or trading with fellow collectors, the social aspect of collecting fosters friendships and connections. The validation and status In some circles, having rare or valuable items can bring social status or recognition. Collectors may take pride in showcasing their prized possessions, seeking validation from others who share their passion. An example of that is finding a shiny Charizard that someone has, or people that collect rare whiskeys, allocated whiskeys, rare whiskies allocated to whiskies, even such more rare than Blanton's or Pepe van Winkle.
Speaker 1:But there's many reasons as to why people collect. As mentioned before, it's a lot of different reasons, but some people use it as a coping mechanism. It's comfort and routine. Collecting can provide a sense of stability and routine, especially during uncertain times. The focus on finding, organizing and curating items can offer calming, meditative experiences for collectors, escapism and stress relief. For many, collecting serves as a healthy escape from the stresses of everyday life. Driving into a passion for finding and organizing specific items helps to take the mind off worries, offering a mental break.
Speaker 1:Survival instincts From all that being said, survival instincts From all that being said, some researchers believe that the urge to collect is rooted in our evolutionary history. Early humans needed to gather resources for survival and this instinct may have carried over into modern day collecting behaviors, even if the items we collect are now for pleasure rather than necessity, an accumulation for security. Being collecting may be tied to a desire for security. Amassing items can provide a sense of abundance, symbolizing safety and preparedness, much like stockpiling food or silver coins or gold jewelry. For some people that collect those items, it may be preserving history. Even Collectors often play a key role in preserving culture and history. Think of museums. Whether it's antique artifacts or classic art, collecting helps to keep the past alive and ensures future generations can appreciate the historical significance of certain items, cultural expression behind that, like I said, jewelry. Many cultures and families pass down jewelry down to their loved ones. Collecting also differs across cultures. In some cultures, collecting may be focused on art and relics that hold deep spiritual or traditional meanings, while in others it may be about modern consumer goods or technology reflecting changing values of society. So, whether driven by nostalgia, a sense of accomplishment or the thrill of the hunt, collecting serves many purposes in our lives. So next time you come across a collector, ask them is it about the items themselves? Or why do they collect? What's their reasoning? Or why do they collect what's their reasoning?
Speaker 1:This next segment is called A History in Time. These events in history happen within a short time of each other's history the signing of the Treaty of Versailles and the founding of the NFL. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, officially ending World War I. One year later, on August 20, 1920, the National Football League, the NFL, was founded in Canton, ohio. Speaker 1:I like to call this game Mind Reader. I don't know the official name of this game, but it's been floating around TikTok and IG Reels and I want to play it with you. Let's get started. Do not say the same thing as me. Can you get through all five questions without saying the same thing as me? Number one what's a common mistake people make when they're baking a cake? So what's a common mistake people make when they're baking a cake? There's a lot of things that can go wrong. Just name one. Don't say the same thing as me. My answer If you said not measuring the ingredients correctly, you are out, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, that is a common mistake. You know, a lot of people don't measure things right and it turns out flat. Or you forget to add some salt or the right amount of sugar and it doesn't taste right.
Speaker 1:Let's move on to number two what's something that's always messy after a family gathering? So what's something that's always messy after a family gathering? So what's something that's always messy After a family gathering? You can be as general or as specific as you like. I'll give you the free liberty To do that. So, something that's always messy After a family gathering. My answer If you said the kitchen, I'm sorry, you are out. The kitchen is always, I think, the number one messiest place. I mean the bathroom that could be a shout your living room, the backyard, the front yard, the porch, wherever you don't need to be like in the house, but something that's always messy after family gathering. You see the kitchen. You are out. How are you doing so far? Do I want to give you another lifeline? Do you think I should give you another lifeline? Hmm, okay, sure, I'll give you the lifeline early on. You can continue playing if you've been out at question one or two, but no more lifelines.
Speaker 1:Let's move on to number three. What's something people often forget to do before going to bed? So they're going to start getting a little more difficult, and that's the point of this game, as well as not saying the same thing as me. So what's something people often forget to do before going to bed? People can forget to do a lot of different things. Maybe it's something you do, maybe it's something your partner does, maybe it's something your kids do. But my answer pause it for me one more time. If you said you forget to set the alarm, you are out. A lot of people forget to brush their teeth. A lot of people forget to take out the trash. A lot of people forget to do the chores. A lot of people forget to do their homework. I was one of those kids. I forget to do my homework. Forgot is the key word. But if you said set an alarm, you're out.
Speaker 1:Let's move on to number four. What's the most likely thing to forget when preparing for a road trip? So what is it that you most likely forget, the one thing when you were preparing for a road trip? So one more time what is the most likely thing, most likely most likely thing to forget when preparing for a road trip? My answer you phone charger. You are out. Sorry, I didn't see you. A lot of people forget their phone charger. I mean, that's kind of one of the first things that I bring along, that I check for. Some people forget to bring socks. Some people forget to bring a toothbrush. Hey, it happens to us. But let's move on to number five. I hope you're still with me. I think you are. For those of you still playing, here's your 50-50 chance.
Speaker 1:Would you rather have a perfect cup of coffee or a perfect sandwich? Would you rather have a perfect cup of coffee or a perfect sandwich? Honestly, if I could have both, that would be fantastic. Let's say you're having breakfast, right, you have a coffee and you buy a sandwich. Which one would you rather have? Perfect, the coffee or the sandwich? Hey, we don't live in a perfect world, but if you could choose one, choose one.
Speaker 1:If you said a perfect cup of coffee, you are safe. If you said a perfect sandwich, you are out. I'm sorry because I would rather have a perfect sandwich. The reason being if you have an okay sandwich like it's okay Think like 7-Eleven or like the gas station-like sandwich, like you kind of don't want that, but having a really good sandwich you really like start your day off right or any time of the day. If you have a good sandwich for lunch, like you're set.
Speaker 1:If you have an okay cup of coffee like it's good, it's okay, but like a perfect cup of coffee, would be fantastic. But I think a perfect sandwich would be better, given these two options. Right, because I would love to have a perfect cup of coffee. I would also always like to have a perfect sandwich, but between the two, from having them together, I'd rather choose a perfect sandwich having an okay cup of coffee. Well, how'd you do? Let me know what you think. Comment down below. Email me at thexavierxanathshow at gmailcom. You may get featured in next week's show. Moving on to the next segment of Am I the A-hole, these stories are comprised of Reddit posts where people have submitted their stories in search of opinions or sometimes seek validations based on the tricky situations they're in. This Reddit user CompetitiveLet8254, said.
Speaker 3:Am I the a-hole for telling my ex's sterile affair partner to have her own daughter if she wants to share cheerleading with one? With one? My ex, 44 male, cheated on me, 40 female, and ended our marriage so he could be with his affair partner wife, gen, 42 female. This happened several years ago when our kids were very young. My ex had gets our kids six days a month. He works out of state frequently, so this was the most consistent schedule where our kids would be with the parrot, me or the ex, instead of being left with the babysitter or his wife. According to my ex and Jen, she is sterile and can never have kids. I never asked, but they offered this up in hopes I would share the kids with her more and encourage them to embrace jen as their second mom. I have not done this and I have told them. We are not friends and they are not to expect favors from me. I have to go behind my back and doing what they did.
Speaker 3:Jen was someone I knew before learning the truth. She was dating someone in my ex's friend circle and she made a point to get to know me. I found out why after she was expecting us being friends would help me not to hate her afterward. I bring all this up because of what's currently going on. Jen was a bait cheerleader in her youth and volunteers with her local cheer groups. She wants my daughter, who's 10 years old, to get involved in cheer.
Speaker 3:My daughter told me about it the other week because Jen was trying to make her go and that ex was backing Jen on it. She told me she didn't want to and she needs my help. All the kids are aware of the fact. Stuff like that has to be agreed on both me and their dad. I reached out and told my ex our daughter will not be put into cheer against her will and that he needs to stop pressuring her to join. He didn't respond back the way he's supposed to through app, so I noted his reply on the app and got a lot of cussing back. Jen tried to call me but I didn't answer. She approached me a few days later while we were in the same store and she told me.
Speaker 3:I can't keep punishing her by depriving her of my children. She said she's been in their life since they were little and she has every right to bond with them and share stuff with them like that. I told her she does not get to force my kids into stuff like that against their will. I walked away and she showed me around for a bit and told me how it was her dream to share cheer with a daughter, and all that BS that I don't care about. I told her she should have a daughter of her own if she wants to share it and leave mine alone. She stopped following me after that and I heard from my ex a few times after saying I was cruel to say that to her when they know she can't have children. Am I the a-hole? So.
Speaker 1:So, yes, yeah, a little bit. I mean, yeah, you are the a-hole A little bit, mainly because you were insensitive and you told her to go have kids of your own if you want them to do, cheerleading, knowing that she can't have kids, that's pretty a-holey. Well, that didn't sound right. That's pretty effed up. Yeah, there we go. It's effed up that you would do that now in the sense that, like the kids right, that's where it gets like difficult. Okay, I wouldn't say you're an a-hole for standing your ground, but I think there is kind of a fine line that can go either way. But this is my opinion, right? This is my opinion, right, this is my opinion. So let's get to the cause right here, the cause being that the ex and Jen versus the ex-wife right and the kids, the ex-wife right and the kids. So put yourself in the OP's position. Right, you're standing your ground. You want your kids to live a good life the way that you want them to, but unfortunately you have to share with your ex. Nobody wants that right. Your kids get to see the other parent and the partner right Only six times a month, so you're the one taking care of them the most. No, she is not the a-hole for saying I don't want my kids in cheer because they don't want to. I don't want my kids in cheer because they don't want to when the other family the ex and the partner want them to do cheerleading, which is more, way more than six days out of the month. A month not even the week, the month. There's 30, 31 days in the month. 31 days in the month. So this is kind of an excuse for the ex and the partner to get more time with the children they're going to take away from the OP. So it's like the partner wants to be their second mom, right, that's what the OP said. But the dad, the ex, isn't going to be there. So there's no real reason as to why, like the OP should let her kids do it or let them enroll them in cheerleading when the kids don't even want to do it, right.
Speaker 1:So that's what I think. I know it's a tricky situation because you want your kids to have what's best and, I guess, depriving them of their stepmom. But I mean, they're just dating. They're not even like married. As far as what the story said, I don't know. I want to hear what you guys had to think, but first let's hear what this reddit user had to say. This reddit user huge underscore mistake. Underscore three one three nine said not the a-hole. I love it when people think they can force kids to do stuff. This Reddit user huge__mistake__3139 said Not the a-hole.
Speaker 4:I love it when people think they can force kids to do stuff. Forget adding the affair into the mix. I don't know everything about the app you mentioned, but you might want to add what happened at the grocery store. Keep documenting the harassment and pressure they're putting on you and your kids. They could figure out a different way to play house.
Speaker 1:This next word user Stiggly said Not the a-hole.
Speaker 5:First she steals a spouse, now she's after the kids. Remember to record all the interactions with Jen in the parenting app. Do it as your wife approached and harassed me in the store over stuff we already discussed in the app regarding activities the children do not want to do, but she does and you are pressuring the kids to accept it. Document, document, document. Then push for Jen having reduced contact with the kids due to abusive pressure she is putting on them.
Speaker 4:This next rate, user Mary1961, says Lots of kids in foster care she can work with to fulfill her cheerleading dreams kids in foster care she can work with to fulfill her cheerleading dreams.
Speaker 2:This next rate user, Lady Siren, says you and your children owe this woman nothing. Good on you for protecting them as a cheer mom for almost a decade. Do not allow her to push your daughter into cheer if she's not interested. It's a dangerous sport and one of those where you either love it or hate it. My daughter was the former and went hard until she graduated.
Speaker 1:She got injured so much, oh, and it's wildly expensive, Not the a-hole it's kind of a rough situation to be in if you're the op particularly, but maybe also think from like jen's side point of view. You know, maybe jen really does care for these kids. You know, maybe she doesn't. I want to know what you think. Email me at the xavier's ineshow at gmailcom. But first let's take a last break and we'll regroup for our listener Q&A's and opinions. This is part of the show where I want to hear from you. If you want to submit your own questions or opinions or give someone a shout out and you want me to read it out loud for next week's show, email me at thexaviersinzenshow at gmailcom with the subject line listener Q&A or subject line opinions and in the body portion of the email write your message and your name if you want to be mentioned, but please keep it appropriate if you want me to read it out loud on next week's show. Here are some things you can email me and ask me about your opinion on something I talked about during the show, maybe a game type of question like would you rather? Certain questions are reasonable that are not controversial. You notice I don't elaborate on war, politics, celebrity gossip, conspiracies, but try your luck. You may get featured or ask me about something to elaborate on Obviously, not the things I just mentioned right now, but anything else I mentioned throughout the show. I'm not sure how many emails I'll be getting, but I want you to start reading them out loud as soon as possible, so keep on listening to be potentially featured on next week's show. So which pop star famously shaved her head in 2007 during a public breakdown? Here's another hint she was one of the biggest pop icons of the late 90s and early 2000s. Here's the answer Britney Spears is the pop star famously known for shaved her head during a public breakdown. Let's move on to number four.
Speaker 1:It's going to get a little more difficult, taking it retro to the 90s and 2000s. Which 1999 movie became a cult classic, featuring a computer hacker who discovers a dystopian reality controlled by machines? Some of you are like I don't really know, but you do know. Everyone knows this movie and you should too. So which 1999 movie became a cult classic, featuring a computer hacker who discovers a dystopian reality controlled by machines? Here's your hint Red pill or blue pill? Here's another hint. Keanu Reeves was one of the main actor today Pause, if you need more time. The answer is the Matrix. The Matrix is a cult classic Because everyone should have known this movie. That movie is pretty much what sparked the Y2K and the computers, or everyone thinking that the computers aren't going gonna work, and how everyone thinks we live in a simulation. So thanks a lot. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 1:Question number five. This is supposed to be pretty hard, pretty difficult because this references the 70s to the 90s, because this references the 70s to the 90s. But if you know your music, it should be a breeze. Which rock band released the song Hotel California? In 1976, which became one of the most famous hits? So pretty much what rock band released a song called Hotel California? There's plenty of room at the Hotel California. It's a lovely place. All right, here's your hint. If you haven't guessed it already, the band's name is a bird. I'm not saying the band's name is a bird, I'm saying the band's name as a type of bird. The answer is the Eagles.
Speaker 1:How'd you do? I love that song. That is another cult classic, well, at least in America. But if you haven't heard the song, oh, definitely recommend 10 out of 10. Beautiful song. How'd you do? Did you get 5 out of 5? Right? I need to know what you guys think. Comment down below. We're at the end of the show and for that I want to say thank you for listening. Speaker 1:If you made it this far, I'm going to give you a special riddle. No Google searching or web surfing, use your brain. But first here is the answer to last week's riddle. You measure my life in hours and I serve you by expiring. I'm quick when I'm thin and I'm slow when I'm fat. The wind is my enemy. The answer is a candle. Yeah, say, how long does this candle last? Oh, it lasts about 10 hours, or you know, it's fast. It burns fast when it's a slender, thin candle and obviously much slower when they're fatter. You know, has three wicks and the wind is the enemy because it blows out the candle. Here is the new riddle. I have cities but no houses. I have mountains but no trees. I have water but no fish. What am I? Alright? Well, rewind, go back 15 seconds if you need to hear it again. Okay, that's it. I'll give you the answer during next week's episode.
Speaker 2:And in case I don't see you, have a good morning afternoon and good night, bye.
