Thanks so much and let’s keep this conversation going

In 2018 our world changed forever when my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  I remember feeling like my life stood completely still.  Fear tied to enter my heart, but I knew I had to lean on God, pray harder than ever before, and trust Him through the uncertainty.  Cancer battles are not just physical --they are emotionally, spiritual, and mental journeys that test your faith every single day.  Through prayer, strength, and love, we continue to fight this battle together.

Have you or someone you love ever received difficult news about cancer or another life-changing diagnosis? How did you find the strength to keep going?

Welcome to From Creepin the Preaching. I'm your host, Renee R. White, a pro native Washingtonian, born and raised and still live here in the heart of DC. I spent many years of my life in this incredible city. And it's not just my home, it's where my story began and where my passion for uplifting my community, especially the youth. This podcast is a space where we can have real, raw conversations about life, faith, and purpose. All rooted in the experience of someone who has walked these very streets and understands the struggles and the beauty of life in DC. Hello listeners. Season 4 episode 3. This is season 4 episode 3. I call this when faith meets fear in 2018. When faith meets fear in 2018, I cancer diagnosis, spiritual journey, and trusting God through the storm. Family, today's episode is not easy, but it's necessary. This is real. This is raw. This is where faith gets tested. Have you ever walked so closely with God, felt his presence so strongly? And only to be hit with news that knocks the wind out of you. That's where we found ourselves. Before the diagnosis, before the fear, before the questions, there was a journey. Traveling overseas, walking through places where Jesus walked, reading a Bible, and then standing in those very places. It changed us. It changes you. Rome, Greece, Venice. These weren't just vacations. They were divine appointments. Every step felt guided. Every moment felt intentional. We weren't just tourists. We were seekers. We prayed differently. We listened differently. We felt God calling us higher. And looking back now, I truly believe God was preparing us. Because what came next we could have never prepared for it on our own. It was supposed to be a routine checkup. Just another doctor's visit. Nothing out of the ordinary. But then the doctor said his PSA levels are high. I like to schedule an MRI. Now if you know, you know that that one sentence can change everything. We didn't panic right away. We stayed hopeful. But deep down, something didn't feel right. Then came the test, then come the wait. And if you ever waited on results like this, you already know. That waiting room doesn't just sit in a hospital, no. It sits in your mind. It sits in your spirit. It sits in your sleep. Then the call came. It was cancer. I can't even explain what that moment felt like. It was like everything just stopped. The noise, the plans, the future, everything froze. And all I could think of was how do we do this? Why us? What did we do and what do we do now? I had questions. So many questions. What stage is it? What was the treatment options? Is he going to be okay? And let me be honest with you, fear tried to. Because when it's someone you love, when it's your husband, when it's your partner, when it's your best friend, it hits differently. But here's what kept me coming back to me. All those walks with Jesus, all those moments and those holy places, all those prayers, they weren't for nothing. God didn't bring us this far for nothing. Just to leave us in the middle of a storm. And I had to remind myself. Faith is not just for the good moments. Faith is for the moments like this. When you don't understand, when you're scared, when you feel weak, that's when faith becomes real. We prayed harder. We we leaned in closer. We cried out to God like never before. Because sometimes faith doesn't look like strength. Sometimes it looked like surrender. Let me talk to those who are caretakers. Because this role, this assignment, isn't isn't easy. You're trying to be strong for them while breaking inside. You're holding it together in front of them. Then crying when you're alone. You're asking God for answers, but still showing up every single day. And if that's you, I see you. Because I became that. Standing beside my husband, walking through every appointment, every conversation, every treatment decision. And let me tell you, love becomes louder in moments like this. We didn't choose this. But we chose how we would walk through it. We did choose that. We chose faith over fear. We chose prayer over panic. We chose to believe. Even when it was hard. And I truly believe there's a purpose in this pain. Maybe it's to help someone else. Maybe it's to strengthen our faith. Maybe it's to remind us that life is fragile. And every moment matters. But one thing I know for sure, God is still with us. Let me ask you something. Have you ever received news that shocked your world? Have you ever sat in a doctor's office and heard something you weren't ready for? Have you ever asked God, why me? If that's you, you're not alone. Drop a comment, send a message, share your story. Because your story might be the very thing someone else needs to hear. This right here is real life. It's real life. It's a real journey. So you have to put on your full armor, God. Yes, we chose not to panic. We chose to just be there. Be there for each other. And if this is you, this is real pain. This is real life. This is real healing.
