Put the money.

SPEAKER_00:

Well, the New York Knicks did it. They won the Mega Ball. I mean the NBA Cup, the one twenty-four, one thirteen win over the San Antonio Spurs. Oh, Knicks fans rejoicing. There's rioting in the streets. Ah, you know what? I enjoyed the game. I enjoyed the victory. Like I said, that was a 124-113 win over the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks look, you know, the Knicks, they they are this team. There are they are this enigma. They are this enigma wrapped in a riddle. What are they gonna be like? What are they gonna look like? What are they gonna look like in February? We have no idea. Are they going to make a franchise changing or altering trade? Or are they gonna stay with the core of OG Anonomi, Carl Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Bridges, and Brunson? We don't know. Are they gonna find someone off the bench or is Tyler gonna continue this streak he has? Are we finally starting to see Jordan Clarkson turn the corner? I'm not gonna say anything about Ariel Hockey because I love Ariel. He plays defense. He can rebound, he just can't do much. Ellison Mitchie the kid is Mitchell Robinson. Big night last night, 18 minutes, only four points, but 15 fucking rebounds. Then you know what? You went into that fourth quarter with the Knicks. I guess again, this is this is the NBA Cup. You go in that fourth quarter with the Knicks and you looked at the game and you saw it, and you were like, okay, they're trailing by five. What happens? They come out and go in on an 8-0 run. Back-to-back threes from Jordan Clarkson to take a three-point lead. Same. And that fourth, Mitchie the kid, grabs four offensive rebounds in that stretch. They just kept possession after possession after possession. It was getting that nauseum alive, the Knicks did. Going up and getting those boards. We are going to have to talk about Carl Anthony Towns a little bit because there could be a little something there there that could also be affecting the trade for potential trade for Giannis. But after that 8-0 run, the Knicks led the rest of the way. Of course, like I said, beating Spurs 124-113 to take that big cup in the T-Mobile Center over in Vegas. You know what? It was a weird core at one point. It was the unlikely lineup of Brunson, Tyler, Clarkson, OG, and Mitchell Robinson that flipped that game on its head. It was just strange to watch. They played their butts off last night. It had this cohesiveness. And I've already seen quotes is this Tyler's coming up, party? Because he played big time. It's just, you know what? It's the Knicks haven't won anything in a long time. Their last championship was, of course, in the 70s. And they haven't won anything since they've ended the playoffs in the finals. And I'm old, but I was really young, young, young, and those 70s championship teams. So this was, you know what? I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna lie. It's one of those things with this this cup. Someone asked me, what do you compare this to? You're a basketball purist. What do you compare this to? And I couldn't think of anything, of course, inside the NBA because this is something totally different. This is something that we took for European football, basically. But in my mind, this is like winning the NIT. There's there's there's the pumps, there's the circumstance, but there's really nothing behind it except the fact that this could give the Knicks the thought process in their brains that they can do what they need to do to take this all the way to the championship. Brown said all those guys brought something to the table, and it was an easy decision to keep going down with them, down the stretcher, like, hey, these are the guys that are giving us a lift, so we're gonna stay with them. And that's what it's about. Of course, that's talking about that. That it's a strange, I mean that if you take a look at the lineup, I mean, Brunson, Tyler, Clark, excuse me, Clarkson, OG, and Mitchell. That that's just a strange lineup. But it fucking worked. So you know what? You you're you ride the horse that got you there, so I'm fine with that. He rolled it, you know what? He he's a little bit uh Mike Brown was being a little, he saw it, he says, listen, motherfuckers, I'm in Vegas. Let me just roll those dice a little bit. Knicks gave up 94 points in the first three quarters. And then they allowed just 19. And they outscored the Spurs by 16 in the fourth. Brunson says, You're gonna find a way. You're gonna fight. You're not gonna quit. You're gonna go out there and do what you gotta do, doing that thing you do. When we fall or fail in those moments, we tip our hats, we respect the other team, and we move forward. But we're not gonna quit. We're not gonna lay down. We're not gonna, we're gonna find a way. The game was ugly, and how are we gonna impact the game? Our bench did last night. They impacted the game for us. Brunson had a little bit of an off night, finishing with 25 points. Uh, he was 11 for 27 from the floor, one for five from three, did have eight assists, but also had four turnovers over there. Carl Anthony Towns played 30 minutes, had 16 points, 11 rebounds. He went out for a stretch in the third. Uh, he went back to the locker room. It looked like he was grabbing his knee. He did come back in later in the game to spell uh Mitchell Robinson, but he he looked like he was grabbing his knee. The the speculation is at this point in time that he he had a little bit of a hamstring tightness, a little hamstring, you know. So we're gonna we're gonna leave it as a hamstring tightness, but we're gonna have to kind of wait and see. We're gonna play that wait and see moment. Injuries in the NFL and the NFL. Injuries in the NBA, they're always there. They always crop up. Last year, the Knicks were pretty injury, not injury free, but they were pretty injury. They per they were pretty uh, they did not have that that massive injury that uh that derailed their season. I'm not saying that miles mcbride is that because like I said, we got Tyler. We got Tyler. And I love Tyler because he's probably the player that wanted to win this the most, to win the half a million dollar prize. Because, you know, he he's he's he's a he's he's he's the rookie. You know, not the rookie, he's he's a guy at the end of the bench. He's been here a couple years now, he's not making that big money like the rest of the fellas. But you know what? It just shows in my mind the Knicks have the ability, the Knicks have the tenacity, the Knicks can do what they need to do with this lineup. I'm not saying, like I said, I'm not saying we're not going to move on from this lineup. I'm not saying that. But what I am saying is this we have to just keep rolling along. We got to keep seeing how this season plays out. You know, you have to, you know, starting back on the 18th, which is tomorrow, we're we're in Indiana. Um, it's a it's an interesting stretch for the Knicks right now. On the 18th, we're in Indiana. On the 19th, uh we're playing in we're playing Philly at home, playing Miami at home on the 21st. Then we got another game on the 23rd in Minnesota. Come back for Christmas Day against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then we have the the Atlanta, we got the we got the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta on the 27th. Then we have the Pelicans in uh New Orleans on the 29th. Then we have the 31st. We got San Antonio again. Then we come back to the garden for Atlanta and Philadelphia on the 2nd, 3rd, and the 5th. I love our schedule is crazy now. So we're we're gonna have to we're gonna have to we're gonna have to buckle up and strap in because if you think about it, it's starting in January. We play on the 2nd, the 3rd, the 5th, the 7th, the 9th, the 11th, the 14th, the 15th, the 17th, the 19th, the 21st, the 24th, and then we have the 27th, the 28th, and the 30th. We got a shitload of games and a short period of time going in January. I can't wait because I'm going a lot of these home games. So I'm I'm very excited to see. I'm gonna try to see what game they're gonna go. Hoist the banner, because that's gonna be the game that I want to be at. We won the Jackie Moon mega bowl. I I know I'm I'm I'm I'm not being uh I'm being a little facetious. Like I said, it it's one of these things. This is only the second year of the NBA Cup. It's only the second uh, you know, this is the second iteration. I I don't know if they're gonna keep it in Vegas right now because evidently ticket sales were terrible in Vegas, and Vegas is a mecca for a lot of things, especially gambling, uh, but probably not NBA basketball. It was it was a weird, I thought it was a weird site. I understood it. I I know they want to go to a neutral site, but I probably would have given the team with the best record at that point in time, and I would have given them the home game for the final. I mean, that's it, that's just my opinion. Instead of having it on this neutral site, I would I personally would have done that. But like I said, it it's fun, it's something different, and it's better when you win. I mean, let's let's be honest, it's better when you win, and it's better when you win something. And and I love it, and I I I just love the fact that like I said, this this is this is this is this, and I know Charles Barkley came out and said that the NBA Cup is basically just an in-season function. Um, you know, what it what I what's car Charles Barkley's not a big fan of the cup. He said he rips the cup, suggests it's an in-season tournament functions as a player's cash grab. Yeah, that's that's that's probably what it is. But like I said, if it can create some excitement for the NBA, because the NBA's down a little bit. The NBA isn't what the game was 10 years ago, and and I'm and I officiating is one of the biggest reasons. And I'm gonna get I have a video coming out now discussing the Knicks and discussing officiating, but it it's just it's one of those things that um it was great to watch. It was fun to watch. And I love it though, because that that lineup that Mike Brown went with, I know I keep harping back on that, but that lineup that he went back on, he went on, that is something that Tom Thibodeau would have never done. That is something that in in his five seasons here in New York, Tom Thibodeau would never have gone with that type of lineup and then stayed with it, especially having the willingness to go take Tyler over bridges. It's it's you know what I said this before. It's his flexibility, it's his willingness to do different things that I like about Mike Brown. It's the fact that he's like, you know, we're gonna have a playbook, we're not really gonna have a playbook, but we're gonna feel the flow of the game. We're gonna reach that upper level. We're gonna our mind, bodies, and soul must be one. We're gonna be, we're gonna, we're going to be Bruce Leroy for the showgun to Harlem. We're gonna find the glow. And it worked. It this time it worked. And uh, you know what? Uh one thing that Mike Brown can say that and that uh Nick Coach hasn't said since the 70s, they have a championship. And I think that like I said, if this if this is anything to me, for me, this is a propellant for the Knicks team to show themselves that if they stay status quo, that this this team, this team together, because sometimes it's not about always about who has the best talent, it's about who has the most cohesive talent. That if they stay this course, they could do something special here in the 2025-2026 season. Oh, I'm loving doing Nick's Unleashed because you know what it's funny. I do the Giants, of course, New York Giants trade talk, but it's always it's awesome when you got something winning to talk about. And again, like, subscribe, get out the word, hit notifications, but make sure you hit all notifications so you get all videos that come up. We are gonna even try to do a couple live streams, so stay tuned for that. And as always, this is Tim, and this is Nyx Unleashed. I'm out of here.
