Hello love, this is Mama Lark. Welcome to Good Mama Meditations. If you've ever yearned for a loving mother to gently wake you into your day, this meditation is for you. To learn more about this series, I encourage you to listen to the introduction track. And if you'd like to learn even more about my own remothering journey, look for Good Mama Magic, How I Lost My Religion, Hitchhiked Away From Marriage, Discovered Magic, and Met the Mother by Brooke Lark. This meditation was written by Mama Mariah, and I have to tell you, I feel so lucky that we get this mama and her beautiful, courageous, and gentle words. In 2023, Mama Mariah, also known as Mariah Lee Gardner, lost her own precious little girl, Willow. Though she never wanted to be anything but a loving mother, Mariah has become a powerful advocate against domestic violence, and I've watched her take tragedy into courageous poetry. Her mother heart aching, and yet she shows up strong and fierce and entirely there, ready to love always. As you listen to her words, know that this mama knows pain and heartache. She knows that life does not always go according to plan, and often it's heartbreaking, ugly, terrifying, and full of more hurt than a single soul should ever have to hold. And also, she knows that even inside the darkest nights, the sun will rise again. Your feet will find the strength to take one more step. Your heart will beat once again. When I asked her to write this meditation for you, she said that she would love nothing more than to share all of the love she has for her little Willow with you. Know that these words are real, they are true, and they are for you. And now, good morning, with good mama Mariah. You are here. You made it. You made it to another day. This day is yours. It's a fresh start, a new beginning. It is an absolute gift. A gift to do whatever you want with. I want you to recognize that no matter what happened yesterday, whether it was hard or tiring, maybe everything in the world that could have gone wrong went wrong. It's over. You get a reset. Today is that reset. And I'm so happy for you. Whether you are now laying in bed, maybe you are getting ready for your day, or you're in the car, on your way to wherever it is that you're going. I am thankful that you are taking this time to take care of you. Take this moment for yourself to take care of your mind and your body. Let the rest of the world handle it on their own... for just a moment. You are in control, and you're loving yourself, and you're caring for yourself right now. You are so worthy of that time. Now, I want you to first spend some time on your body. Your body... is the tool that your mind will use to accomplish whatever it is that you are set out to accomplish today. Whether you have a hundred things on your list or your day looks like sitting on the couch curled up and binge-watching your videos, TV show. We have to first make sure our body is prepared for that trip. Now how are you feeling right now in this moment? Now ignore your mind. How are you feeling physically? Are you well-rested? Are you fatigued? Maybe you could have slept a little better. Maybe your neck is sore or you feel great and you're ready to seize the day. No matter what it is, recognize it. Validate yourself. By validating your feelings, you are empowering your mind, which is so, so important. Once you figure out exactly how you're feeling, now we can focus on our mind. How are you feeling? Are you ambitious? Motivated? Are you feeling sad or anxious? Feelings are just feelings and feelings cannot be wrong. Give yourself permission. I want you to embrace yourself as a loving mother would her child and tell yourself that no matter what you're feeling, you are worthy and you are capable. There is no one greater than you. There is no one greater than you. It's sometimes tiring or overwhelming to really focus on how we're feeling physically and emotionally so I want you to take a moment to ground yourself so that we can reach an equilibrium and allow our mind and our body to work together to accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish today. Focus on your surroundings, what do you see? Are things moving or are they still? What colors surround you? How does the air feel on your skin? Is it cold? Is it warm? Is it stagnant? Now, your body; how does it feel right now in this present moment interacting with your surroundings? Do you feel heavy or light? What is touching you? What parts are being touched? Really focus on this and let yourself be present. I want you, while you're doing this again, no matter where you are or what you're doing, I want you to take a few deep breaths with me as I guide you through. I want you to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. As you inhale, I want you to inhale all of the things that you love about yourself; all of the goals that you've set; all of your intentions set for you. Inhale positivity, and while you exhale, I want you to breathe out every doubt, every fear, all of the stress, every negative feeling. I want you to excuse it from your mind, and release it into the universe, so that it can't interact with you, or inhibit you any longer. Now, inhale, and out. Inhale. Inhale, and out. In and out. Recognize how you feel right now. Let yourself sit in this state of peace and calm for just a moment. If your day becomes difficult or things are too heavy for you to carry, I want you to revisit the spot that you're in right now. And if you can't, find time that you can designate for rest and recovery throughout the day. Make the space to even silently remind yourself that you have the ability to be calm and that you are in control. And that no matter what happens today, tomorrow is a new day. And before you go and tackle whatever it is that you're set out to tackle today, I want you to hear some words that are so true. So true about you. And that I want you to remind yourself of constantly. Because you deserve to be loved. Now, think to yourself or say it out loud. I am powerful. I am powerful. I am successful. I am whole and complete. Just the way that I was intended to be. I am grateful for my body. I am grateful for my mind. I can clearly state my needs. And I will advocate for myself. All I need is within me right now. I am willing to grow. I am willing to embrace healing. I am beautiful. I am filled with focus. I am intelligent. And I am capable. I am loved. And I am worthy. I am proud of myself. I am so proud of myself. Take this with you throughout your entire day. And if you find a moment where weakness slips through, remind yourself. Be proud. Be proud of yourself. Because even through your imperfections, you are perfect. Be unapologetically you. Because who you are is enough. I am also so proud of you. And I hope that today is everything you want it to be. And if it's not, well, there is always tomorrow. See you all tomorrow. I don't know.
