The Hurricanes played their first road game of the season in San Jose. Brandon Bussi made in NHL debut in net for Carolina. Mike Reilly drew in for injured Jaccob Slavin. Jankowski cracked the lineup for the first time this year. This was Jordan Staal's 900th game played for the Canes.
