Christ forgives us for everything. Everything. Like he loves us exactly as we are right now. John, um, in, at this moment. Like, we're not perfect and we're not going to be without him. And that comes later, but, we're enough. Welcome everybody to this week's episode of Welcome with the Savior. Today I'm here with Chad Palmer. Chad's a good friend of mine and a disciple of Christ, and I've appreciated getting to know him this last, uh, 3, 4, 5 months. How long have we known each other now, Chad? Yeah. I think it's been about five months since I first came over to your house. Yeah, and the thing about Chad is when he becomes your brother, he becomes your brother. He, he doesn't just become a friend, he becomes a brother. And he's, he's a powerful witness for leading people to Jesus Christ. And we're, we're part of a group. What, how would you describe that group? You know, it's, it's really simple. Um, we're just a bunch of, of guys, whether they're in the church or outta the church or whatever, it doesn't matter. Um, but we're following Jesus Christ. So it's all based on, um, the Divine King manifesto. And we, these are just, uh, you know, things that we go by. We're striving to become like Jesus Christ, the Divine King. So, uh, just a, a group of us guys that men need men time, you know, uh, iron sharp Princes, iron. Yeah, absolutely. It's called Rise Undaunted. And we've had Trevor Heer on before and he was amazing. And I, I joined the group after. Uh, interviewing Trevor and hearing what his inspiring group is doing. And so I, I met, I joined Chad's group and we became great friends. And what I noticed about Chad is the way he loves. And I, I know you've been through some trials, some up and downs track. Uh, Chad, uh, been through some really challenging things, but your love that just oozes between you and your brothers, where did that come from? You know, it's, it's really simple. Great question, John. Um, I, we all have our gifts that we're given, and that's been mine. It's just really easy to love people and, uh, just, just care for them. Um, and I, I know this sounds super cheesy, but I'm, I'm really just trying to be like Jesus. And, you know, I work for Jesus. I'm not Jesus. So let's get that real clear right now. You know, I've had, uh, people just like, man, I, I feel like different around you. And I'm like, man, that's all Jesus. That's not me. Um, I just work for him. Um, but it's just so, it's just a gift. I just love, love people and I, I like to see where they're at and where they're going instead of where they've been and what they're doing. Tell me a little more about that. Uh, yeah, great question. So, um, so it just, um, instantly. I, I think I, I just had the gift of seeing people as, as they're becoming and who they really are, you know? So I, I can just look at their soul and connect with them, and I'm a hugger, like big time I hug. Mm-hmm. But I don't hug the normal way, you know, the, the, this way and the double pat, you know? Um, I go the other way, or actually it's, I guess the cameras normally guys do this and the double pat. I do the other way'cause it's heart to heart. And I actually picked that up from Taylor over there in Salt Lake. And uh, and it really, you make a connection'cause the heart is actually to heart. And then, you know, I've been fire medical for over 30 years and so I really understand the heart mm-hmm. As a physical thing, but also as a spiritual thing. And so I just, I connect with people easily and I understand that we all knew each other. I, I honestly believe. Uh, we've done this already, like we did this podcast, John, we did this podcast, but not the the trial run that we did before, but actually spiritually, that we've actually done what we were doing right now spiritually, and we passed that test and now we're doing it physically. And so when you have deja vu, it's'cause you actually seen that before. You've done that before. Said that before. And it's, you, it's just the thin veil that we're, we're living in today. Yeah. I love that. That's a interesting thought, but I, I, I believe it too. I believe we knew each other before we came to this earth. I, I believe we were associated with each other. Maybe not everybody, but certainly our family members and probably dear friends too. Right. Yeah. And I, I, I wanna know though I how Christ has shaped you, because I, I know you're like, that's a gift to love like that, but how has Christ shaped you? Great question. Um, to explain that. Uh, I have to start at the beginning. So, at three years old, um, I got third degree burns, um, on my feet and up on my legs. And, um, I, I saw Jesus Christ, like literally, uh, my mom had just remarried and my stepdad was, was very violent. Um, and he was bitter because he'd lost his kids from his marriage. And that whole estrangement. And so he was kind of starting over, um, and we were, it was a package deal. So he all instantly became dad of four more kids and he'd already raised his, they were all teenagers and up. Um, and so he, she was just letting him, trying to, you know, so the kids would get used to him and stuff like that. And I, my sister's a year and a half and I'm three and we're jumping on her crib bed playing when we should have been sleeping. And, uh, he came in and slammed the door against the wall and scared us both and we, you know, we lost our bowels. And, um, and then he was really upset. So he grabbed us each by an arm and just walked us into the bathroom, put us in the tub, turn on the hot and cold water, and, uh, and said, if you get out, I'll kill you. And so, um, you know, I'd only known him for two months. I'd just barely turned three. It was, it was just before Christmas, between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And, and this is my first memory. Like, I don't remember anything before that. I've heard the stories and stuff like that, but this is my first memory. Um, so it's really burned in my head and, uh. So what he didn't know was this farmhouse over a hundred years at the old, at the time, uh, the cold water pipe had frozen, but when you first turn it on, it takes a while for the water to get the hot water to get there from the water heater. So it was cold and then just getting hotter and hotter. Well, my sister's right by the valve, and so it gets hotter and hotter and she starts crying and then jumps out and runs, and I'm like, there goes my sister to her death. Um, in my three-year-old mind, that's what I understood was happening. And, uh. So I just stood there like a good soldier, you know, doing what I was told. Um, because the beatings had already started, you know, the, the verbal assault, the spiritual, I mean, it was just, it was just a lot of damage left over from my father. Um, coming home from the Marines and stuff like that, he was all jacked up from Vietnam. And then, and then my stepdad just care, continued on the violence and so, um. I just stood there and washed my feet, boil and burn and come up my legs. And finally I'm just like, Jesus. Like, this is it. I'm done. And as I'm falling, I see him coming through the steam. You know? And it's not like I've, I've seen some really good pictures of Christ. I really have, but what I saw was not what I've seen in any pictures. Similar. Yes. But not, not him. Exactly. Um, and I, I can't describe it. And I'm not an artist, so I'm not gonna be doing a, a rendition or anything. Um. But he, he caught me in his arms and, uh, that's all I remember. Um, and honestly, I, I've died many times from my life. I've had more than nine lives, and it's because of my lifestyle and, and my, and my choices. Sometimes it's my fault, sometimes it's not my fault, but I take responsibility for all of it. Um, but I, I don't stay because I know there's more work to do. Does that make sense? Mm-hmm. Like I knew that someday I'd be doing this, and this scares me to death. Like literally, I'm almost gonna cry'cause uh, I know this is what I'm called to do. And I've done this to audience of thousands, tens of thousands, but I've never done it. Where it's gonna go from thousands to tens of thousands and then hundreds and then millions and billions and, you know what I mean? So, um, but you have to start, and I, I've been, I've been doing this my whole life and it's automatically people tell me their stuff like I'm a bishop. That was the joke at our table. I hardly ever got to pray'cause I prayed too long. You know,'cause I was having a conversation with our Heavenly Father and asking for Jesus, you know, to help us because we were in a really bad way growing up. But, um, but from that, I think that's when he developed my gift at three was just to see people and love them no matter what. Like, a lot of stuff has happened to me and I could be bitter. You know, they say, get a lawyer and, and do this, or you should be, you know, how can you forgive these people for what they've done? I'm like, Christ forgives us for everything. Everything. Like he loves us exactly as we are right now, John, um, in, at this moment. Like, we're not perfect and we're not going to be without him. And that comes later, but, um, we're enough. I. You know what I mean? Like I love your shirt. Jesus loves you and you're awesome. The stuff you wear of, dude, I love that because people don't hear that enough. But man, I love you bro. Like I love you from the first time Trevor talked about you, and then when your podcast came out with Trevor, I was like, wow, this is a really good guy. Like you could be just a seminary teacher. And when I say just my seminary teacher changed my life because one of them didn't. And it, I had no impact with him in my freshman year. And then my sophomore year. That seminary teacher changed my life because he loved me for who I was and all my, Chad and my wife's got me, I call her my wife. We're not married yet, but um, Debbie got me some shirts. You know, I'm Chad doing Chad things because I've never been normal, ever. I, I've always been a square peg and they've been trying to pound me into a round. I mean, literally they forced me to be right-handed My German teacher in third grade. Mr. Green. Totally. I, I'm sure that wasn't his real name, but you know how they changed the way it come up. But I, I meant a huge tangent, but basically I just, I just don't belong mm-hmm. To any one group. I belong to everybody, and that's because Christ is living in me and through me, and I'm, I am not the poster child of doing the right thing and making the right decisions all the time, or even 50% of the time. But I love that I can forgive. And that I'm forgiven. Mm-hmm. So that's a long answer to a very short question. I hope that I covered some of what you asked me. Well, let's go back to that story. I, I mean, the trauma of that experience, I just can't imagine. But aside from the trauma which you learn about the savior in that moment, you know, um, that I'm not alone. Great question. That, um, I'm never alone. None of us are, we all are given the spirit of Christ from. Our creation. And he made us this way, you know, our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and I believe our heavenly mother were all there and made us the way that we are in as intelligences and then the spiritual body. And we, we passed the intelligent test, then we passed the spiritual test, and now we're in the physical test where all those things come together in one. And this is the beginning of the end, but there's no end. You know what I mean? But, um, I just. How do I explain it better? Like I, I know the primary songs and all the different, you know, the, the Christian groups and, and even people that don't believe in Christ, they believe in a universe or a power or something like that, that he really does exist. That he really does love us and unconditionally, and he is already paid the price. So it's done. There's nothing that we can do to get more perfection or to be better, um, other than 1% more today. You know, I love that. Um, just be 1% more better and you think, well, in a hundred days, then I'll be a hundred percent better. Man, I wish it worked like that. You know, I really do. But some days we're a half a percent better. Some days we're a third of percent, and some days we get worse. You know what I mean? But we're human having a human experience. So it's, it's okay, but crisis paid for it all. And he loves us no matter what. And he loved me no matter what. You know, even at age three, even at 53 now. Um, he loves me and if he loves me this much with all the stuff that I've done, imagine how much he loves you. You know, I, I don't know what you've been through. I don't know where you've been and, and my life's been hard, but I bet you there's a lot of people that'll see this. It is been harder. Like they grew up on the street or they were molested as children for years and, and maybe still are. I mean, who knows what's going on. There's just so much horrible in the world. But Christ covers all that. He descended below all things, and he loves us no matter what. So just know, um, even if you don't believe him, and maybe you call him something else, Moham or, or gang, not Buddha, I was almost a gist con. Definitely not that guy. Um, but you know, whatever you call him or even if you don't call him anything, um, he loves you and he'll never stop loving you or change, like you can't do anything to make him love you. More or less, I. It. He just is. Mm, so important. Ed, as you were talking about, he is with us. He is never leaving us. He is always with us. I'm trying to personally think about that more often. I'm trying to, you know, I teach classes teenagers and teenagers can, some days they're with you. Yeah. And then there's a bunch of days when they're not with you, you know? They're just squirrels. Yeah. Yeah. And A-D-D-A-D-H ADHD is rampant man. Yeah. Burden cats. Absolutely. And so, so it, it is very challenging and you know, I, I've learned to rely on myself in those moments.'cause I've been teaching for so long, you know, I can, I can figure some things out, but then, you know, sometimes I, I do things and I'm like, ah, that wasn't the right way. And I. Just this morning I was thinking I need to train myself in the moment to have a quiet moment and in my head, go, Jesus Christ, Jesus. What? What would you do right now? Yeah, like literally, what would Jesus do? Ww, ww, jd and i not.com. I found it in the moment. If, I mean in past moments, I'm not perfect at it. That's what I'm saying. But when I ask that question, I'll get an idea that will come to my mind and it will oppress upon my heart of an idea of what I should do. But I'm, I'm just, this morning I was like, I gotta do this more consistently. You got any thoughts about this for your, from your life experience and walking with the savior? Great, great question John. Um, you know, consistency is, is great. You know, and I would love to say that I've been super consistent with following Christ and as, as a disciple of Christ. Yeah. Um, but we're human, you know, and we're going to fail and it's okay. Like society said, failure is not okay. It is so, okay. Like, that's how we learn, you know? Yes. Losing sucks. Okay? Nobody, nobody goes to play a game or a sport or, or, or whatever you're doing, you know, to lose. And, and some people don't care and that's fine. But for me, I like winning, you know? So when I lose, I'm like, man, this is what, what's a lesson I'm supposed to learn out of this? You know? And so, um. Consistency. Yeah, just keep showing up for yourself. You know, um, I, I was talking to our, our buddy Josh, uh, Hawks a bit ago, and, um, we were talking about, you know, how much devotional time we should have in a day. And I said, you know, he gave us 24 hours today and, and this might be our last day, so what's that? 2.4. So two and a half hours. If we could spend two and a half hours in devotion to God, do you imagine how different we would be? Mm-hmm. If we can do 15 minutes. That makes a huge difference. If you could just go into scriptures and just devour'em, like, I love just taking a verse and then looking it up, all the little things down and, and you know, and finding and jumping into other scriptures to understand it better, then going into Hebrew, you know what I mean? Mm-hmm. And understand how it was actually written. You know? I mean, next thing you know, it's 15 minutes. Or, or 30 minutes, or, or, dang it, I'm late. You know, I, I tell everybody, I, I'm never late. I, I'm always on time when I was supposed to be there'cause God's in control, right? But, you know, it's totally an excuse and I take responsibility, uh, thankful I wasn't late today, but, um, consistently showing up for yourself, you know, and then forgiving yourself when you just, you don't got it. How, how many times do you wake up in the morning and you're just like, I, I'm in a fog. I'm already, you know. I, I don't know. I don't even, I remember what happened yesterday, but I don't feel good. Like my spirit is hurting right now. Or my soul or, or my gut, or physically, you know, whatever it is. May, maybe you're in a mental fog and sometimes you just don't want to get out of bed, man. That's when you hit your knees, you know? That's when you just, you know, if you got the prayer rock, it's a reminder rock, you know, from when we're kids. Um, pulling out your scriptures and just right there on your knees, just like, God, please gimme something.'cause I'm not feeling it today. Mm-hmm. You know, I'm not trying to be like Jesus right now. I'm waking up like the devil and I don't need that guy. You know, you got three voices in your head. There's you, there's the devil and there's God. And whenever it's negative or you wake up just like, ugh, it's not you and it's not God. Now the devil will tell it's you. And so you'll get down on yourself. You know, and that's why super suicides are so rampant right now. Is because people are listening to him thinking it's them, you know? And, and God's like, no, I love you. I accept you just as you even in your crappy moment waking up right now. So, um, anyway, another long explanation of a short question, but just consistently show up for yourself and just know that Christ has never left you no matter what you've done, like murder is. Forgivable, you know, and, and I thought for the longest time, I like just, just no way. I mean, that person no longer has the freedom to choose. Yeah. Their agency was taken from them and they were murdered and this person's responsible like Kain, you know, and he was cursed. So, you know, I grew up being so literal, so black and white, you know? And. Yeah. God's not that way. He, he loves us, but he has to hold the line. But Christ makes up the difference. That's why he's our advocate with the father. Yeah. Everything is acceptable with us. You, you brought up something, even murder and I, we don't wanna minimize murder, obviously it's, it's, it's very devastating for everybody involved. But I have seen amazing miracles happen in the lives of murders. Yeah. I, I've, I've, I. Been in prison as a teacher. Okay. Sorry that that sounded funny. No, that's okay. But I've gone to prison. It's a teacher. I spent a night jail. It's totally okay. Well, I, this is a safe place. I haven't, I, I haven't spent a night in jail or prison. I, I volunteered to go teach in, in prison in the Utah Prison Penitentiary and, you know, just a, a summer class once a week and I, you know, held class with. People who had, uh, committed murder. And what I saw in their lives was, and I'm not saying this is for all of'em, right, because they have their agency, but I saw in the lives of some that miracles were happening and Jesus was working to redeem their soul while they were in prison. Mm-hmm. Absolutely. And it, and it reminded me so much of the New Testament where Jesus reaches out to. Uh, filthy people who have made horrible mistakes or, you know, like the, I don't know if you're familiar with the story of there's a, a guy in the, in the cemetery and he's naked and cutting himself and Yeah. He, they try to chain, he us with many things. Yeah. They try to chain him up and, and they can't chain'em up. He'll break chains and, and Jesus shows up and calms his soul. And in like the next chapter, I think, or later in the chapter, um, he's in his right mind and he's clothed. And praising the savior, right? Yeah. And so I just know that he is available to us despite our mistakes. Mm-hmm. So let me ask you, what does he personally mean for you? For me, personally, redemption, you know, um, I, I've had a really hard road and again. I, I know there's gonna be listeners that had it worse, so I'm not trying to put light on, you know, mine's by far and away, you know, I, I can still walk, you know, I've got a fake leg that I can walk now. Um, and, and I'll be back to work here within the next 30 days. So I'm super grateful. Um, but for me it's just so, so much light and so much goodness and just redemption, knowing that regardless of of my past, you know, and. Since we're talking about murderers, I, I've never killed anybody. I, I joined the Army and thought, you know, I, I want to be the paramedic that they showed in the hacksaw Rich, if you've seen that. Um, you know, where he said, I refuse to use a weapon. And they were, they were trying to discharge him and, and everybody's treating him horribly. And in the end, he ends up rescuing hundreds of soldiers up on this ridge, um, that were trapped. Um. And he never had to shoot or fire a weapon. He, he was a medical guy. E everybody wants to be the hero. And in that story, he's, he's the hero. Um, and I, I'm grateful that the savior's the hero of my life. You know, I'm, I'm trying to pattern myself after him and help those in need. And there's just something about a crisis that everything just slows down for me and I can. I can manage the scene, you know, whether incident command or, or just as the medic, you know, whatever is needed. He just gives that to me too. Like I just, I have the natural ability to triage and, and, and I'm triaging souls, like people that I talk to and stuff like that. I'm still triaging and some people are. Are putting on a brave face. You know, we talked about the mask, um, in Undaunted, and they're just pretending, you know, they're going to church and they're pretending they're just surface conversations and stuff like that. And I've been that guy, so I'm not pointing any fingers at all. Um, but just, just knowing that my sins are paid for, you know, that he loves me and all I have to do is just keep the Jesus jersey on. You know, just, just show up. And I'm not always gonna be on the field. I might be on the bench. But I'm there. You know, I'm, I'm in the game. I'm there and I'm, I'm like, coach, you know Jesus, coach Jesus put me in, you know? Um, that, that for me, that's my relationship with Christ. I, I talk to him the way I'm talking to you now. Granted, I'll, I'll do it in different, you know, I, I know Spanish, so I'll, I'll do it in Spanish because that to me, um, is such a beautiful language. Uh, and, and I, and I loved it. I was grateful that I served. Um, down in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona on the border. And that, that relationship when I, when I started praying in Spanish, um, man, it's, it's a whole new level. Hmm. Um, and I'm, I'm super grateful for just, for just how Willie is for me. And that's, that's what I'm trying to portray to, to your viewers today, is just that he's real. Like I, I post it all the time and I'm sure people are tired of it, but. Jesus is Israel. You know, if you spell out Israel, it's is RAEL. So it's kind of spelled a little different, but he is real, he is Israel. I mean he, you know, the 12 tribes, we all fit in there somewhere, you know, or we're adopted in. So it's like there's nobody's on the outside of Jesus. If they want to be on, on team Jesus, all they have to do is just pray and, and love him and get to know him. Just build a relationship with him just as you and I are from, you know, five months ago. You know, I just knew you as this, this guy that was in Lehigh with no time to be on a call or actually um, do a Zoom with us. But you offered up your house as a place that we could meet every Thursday. And so tonight I'm, I'm excited that the brothers are coming back in.'cause guys need guy time and Jesus, that's what I love about the chosen and other films about Christ that he's just so relatable. He's, he's one of the guys when he needs to be. You know what I mean? But he's not changing to suit his environment. He is the way he is all the time. He made us this way, you know? So the best of us is Jesus Christ. I love it. What would you say to the person who's out there, who's I? Because you talk about triage and you triage souls. I mean, you, you've, you've literally been a paramedic, saving lives that way. But with Rise on Daunted and the calls we, that you do every morning to where people get on calls and you support people and you help people, you kind of coach people. You're triaging souls brother. So let's talk to the person out there who's in a bad spot and there's triage. They, they need some triage of the soul. What would you say to the person who's hurting today, um, really in a low spot? What could you tell them about the savior? Um, man, I, I would tell you that. You're never too far gone. You know, you, you will never do something so heinous that Christ will not come for you. Like literally, I, I believe the only thing I've ever read in the scriptures anywhere, it says if you, if you receive Christ and then you deny him, that's the only thing. And that was your choice. Like you went away. But I. Uh, you know, I'm not a judge in Israel, so I, I can't say what that actual defined out because I know Jesus never quits. So even on that person, unless they put themselves in outer darkness, I, I believe they still can be rescued.'cause the light of Christ is still in them. You know, it's not dead. Even though most horrible person on this planet, you know, and, and I'm not gonna name names, but if you were a dictator and you killed a lot of people, I, I would put you on that short list of the most horrible people on, on the planet, right? So. That's not you. Okay? So I, I'm really sure that that guy is not gonna see this. And if that is you, it is still not too late for you.'cause Christ will never give up. But come on, man. I mean, you, you're not that bad. But again, if you're listening to that voice that you think is you, or you think that this is how God feels about you, that Christ, it is not coming for you, then you're wrong. You're, you're, you're basically just saying, I believe the devil. I believe the stuff he's telling me that I think that's coming from God. And it, it's not so, it's not too late, but it will be eventually. You just need to develop a relationship with Christ. And if you don't know him, then get to know him. And it, it's super simple. Basically pray fast, skip some meals, you know, keep drinking water as your medic. I, you know, uh. You need water? Okay? Do not do these five days or five week things, you know, trying to be like Christ, 40 days. No, you, you need water every day. Okay? When I say fast, I mean just take the food part out for a while. You know, a couple meals, 24 hours, maybe you're not feeling anything. Maybe you're so far gone that you're just not feeling Christ, I promise he's there. You just gotta get your layers like an onion. You just gotta take those off enough that you can feel Christ, and I promise you. Gosh, I promise you he's coming. I, I promise you he's coming for you. No matter how long it takes, don't give up. You know, and maybe you can only go a couple days and you didn't get results, okay? And, and you have to break your fast. Okay? Do it again the next weekend, or, or, or do it again in a couple more days. You know, don't try to go on a long stretch and just fast till you hear him. Not that that won't work, but more than likely you're not gonna get,'cause you're, you're focusing on the fast and not on Christ, but just he's there. He's never left. It's just we put on layers, you know, and just made it more difficult for him to find us. But he, he's definitely there. So that's what I would say to you, Christ, Christ is there. You're not too far gone. You never will be. And, and even if you do deny Christ. I, I believe he's a God of second chances and third and fourth and infinity because he wants you to come home. Man. God loves you as you are right in this moment. In all your awfulness or in all your goodness and your fakeness, whatever you know, he loves you exactly as you are today in this moment, and you're not. It's never too late until he comes and then and, and then, yeah, when he's coming from heaven and you don't know him now, that's a serious problem. Houston, we have a problem. Thank you so much, Chad. I love being with you, brother. Thank you. You too, John. Love you, brother. I love you too bro. You're a good man. Thank you for doing this program and, and invite me back.
