Ever feel like your spiritual fire has fizzled out? In this fun and relatable message, John Merrill Kirkman compares our faith to a campfire. Just like a campfire needs fresh wood every day, our spiritual lives need daily connection with Jesus Christ. Through humor, camping stories, marshmallows, and practical faith lessons, John reminds us that needing to start again isn't failure—it's simply part of being human.
If you've ever felt discouraged because your motivation, peace, or faith seems to come and go, this episode offers hope. Christ invites us back daily, helping turn even the smallest spark of effort into a roaring bonfire of strength, hope, and joy. No matter how cold things may feel right now, there's always enough light with Jesus Christ to start the fire again.

Don't let your fire fizzle. A playful guide to staying spiritually toasty. This is John Merrill Kirkman with Walk In with the Savior Podcast Daily Episode. Picture this. You're out camping. It's so cold your toes are considering forming a union. The stars are winking at you. Your marshmallows are perfectly sensed because who really likes them raw anyway? And voila! The campfire finally roars to life. Toasty toes, happy hearts, and good vibes all around. Then bam, morning arrives. Why do birds insist on singing at 5 a.m. anyway? The fire, poof, gone. Like you're will to leave your sleeping bag on a cold morning in the tent. Now picture someone stomping around the campsite like a disgruntled squirrel yelling, Are you kidding me? I just made a fire yesterday. Why do I have to do this again? You'd probably look at them and think, uh, because that's how fires work, buddy. Welcome to the club. You don't complain, you don't take it personally, you just grab the wood, strike the match, and channel your inner campfire wizard, Abracadabra, Fire 2.0. Don't we all wish campfires could start that quickly? And honestly, our spirits are the exact same way. Every single day we need to rekindle our inner campfire. Motivation fizzles, courage hides under the metaphorical sleeping bag, peace drifts away like campfire smoke. Faith needs a top-up. Strength needs a recharge, just like your phone after too many campfire selfies. A lot of people secretly wish for a one-time spiritual experience that lasts forever. Like, hey, I read my scriptures once in 2024. Shouldn't I be glowing like a glow stick at the dance party? But that's not how the human spirit works, and that's okay. That's why the Savior taught us to pray daily, seek daily, come to him daily. Christ never said, Come to me once, and then you coast forever like you're on a lazy river or something. He invites us back again and again because he knows we need fresh spiritual fire. And maybe a smaller or two. The beautiful thing is, you do not need to build the fire alone. Christ is our help. When your wood is wet, he helps. When the wind is strong, he helps. When you feel spiritually cold and exhausted, he helps. Sometimes all you can do is bring one tiny spark of effort, a prayer, a verse of scripture, one hopeful thought, and Jesus Christ can turn that spark into a roaring bonfire of hope. With the marshmallow, of course. So if today you feel discouraged because you have to start over again, don't beat yourself up. You're not failing. You're just human. Campfires need rekindling, and sometimes so do our sense of humor and our snack of supplies, if you know what I mean. Spirits do too. Our spirits need a rekindling, a connection to Christ. And with Christ beside you, there's always enough light, and maybe even a little laughter, to start that fire again. Thanks for checking out Walking with the Savior Podcast daily.
