Lee is the recipient of multiple honors as Guitar Player Magazine’s “Best Country Guitarist”  In 2002, he received a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance” from the CD release “Earl Scruggs and Friends”. In 2006, he appeared in a history of the guitar documentary, “Primal Twang: The Legacy of the Guitar”. In 2007, he performed at Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads Guitar Festival”, and in 2017,  he was given the Trailblazer Lifetime Achievement Award at the U.K. Americana Awards.
