Exploring Mediumship with Louise

[00:00:00]

[00:00:05] Sarah: Welcome back to Exploring Ways to Wellness. I'm Sarah, and this week I'm joined by Louise to explore mediumship, something I'll be honest, I came to with a fair few preconceptions, mostly picked up from the telly, to be honest, rather than any real understanding. Louise is going to talk us through what mediumship actually is, how she found her way into it almost by accident, and what separates a genuinely evidential reading from something much vaguer.

[00:00:36] We'll also get into how to find someone trustworthy and why timing really matters when it comes to grief. In fact, on that note, if you've lost someone recently, this episode might land a little differently than usual. Louise handles the subject with real care, but it's worth considering. Okay, let's dive in

[00:01:03] Sarah: welcome back to Exploring Ways to Wellness. This week, I'm thrilled that we have Louise with us, and she's going to explore the realms of mediumship, which I'm really looking forward to because I know I don't understand this area at all. I have lots of preconceived ideas that have either come from the media or from just not understanding things growing up.

[00:01:29] So I'm really excited about this. So thank you so much for joining us, Louise.

[00:01:34] Louise: You are very welcome. I'm excited to be here.

[00:01:37] Sarah: I guess the best way to start is to, beginning, at the beginning, like what is mediumship?

[00:01:47] Louise: Okay. So there's, the, as you say, there's so many misconceptions about mediumship and what it's all about.

[00:01:54] And also, it doesn't have a very good press a lot of the time. Mm. But for me personally, I think mediumship is about connecting with people's loved ones in spirit. That's how I understand it to be. There will be lots of other misconceptions or ideas, or people will have a different ideas about it.

[00:02:11] But so, it's really bringing through someone that someone has loved, who has gone past away, died, gone to the other side, and just getting messages through for the, their loved ones that are still here. And that, that's the basis of it really.

[00:02:28] Sarah: Yeah. And that's beautiful. I can really see how that would bring a lot of calm and peace to people because it's, it's something...

[00:02:38] grief is something that doesn't completely go away, does it? So that's really given us a grounding on sort of what it means to you. How did you come across-

[00:02:47] Louise: Yeah ...

[00:02:49] Sarah: the area? What, like, what made you- Oh ... delve in?

[00:02:52] Louise: I've always been interested. I used to watch a lot of the shows, and I've always kind of believed in it.

[00:02:57] But then a friend said to me, "Do you want to come to spirit circle?" And a spirit circle is basically where a load of people get together and they connect with spirit guides, and they connect with loved ones that have passed over. And I said, "No. Absolutely not. That's not me. No. No, not at all." And she said, "Oh, please."

[00:03:14] "No, no." And then she had no one else to go with, so I just thought, "Okay, why not? I'll give it a try. I'm not aga- I'm not opposed to it." And I went, and it f- weirdly felt like coming home. It was just the most amazing experience. I got some amazing messages through, and some of them were so particular and so specific that I was quite blown away by it, to be honest.

[00:03:36] And it just felt like something that I'd always been able to do but never been aware that I could do, if that makes sense.

[00:03:43] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah, that's really interesting. I think a lot of us sort of, we have this curiosity but don't have that sort of drive to, "Oh, okay. We'll, we'll give it a go." So that's lovely you were able- Yeah

[00:03:55] to go and, and not only see what it was like but have such a significant experience. So Did someone pick you out of an audience or ask you-

[00:04:07] Louise: No, the... Yeah, the way it works with spirit circles, it's not where you're at the front. That's platform work, where you're giving- Okay

[00:04:14] messages to lots of different people. In a circle, you basically get connected with somebody, so you get put with someone, and then you try and bring messages through from loved ones. It's a little bit scary, to be honest, to start with when you first start doing it, 'cause it's like, "I don't know what I'm doing."

[00:04:29] But the biggest thing is you just have to trust the process, and the more you do it, the more you get used to it. I truly believe we're all capable of a lot of these things. It's just that we don't know how to tap into it, because we're not trained like that. We're not brought up like that. So I do feel that it's a case of just practice and practice.

[00:04:49] And I got some really specific messages about a ring that had come through that was specific to the person that I was speaking to and where the ring was, which was amazing, 'cause she'd been looking for this ring, and then she came back afterwards and said, "Yes, that's where it was." So it was just mind-blowing, to be honest.

[00:05:09] Sarah: It's incredible. So had you had any training, or you just went along and, and started to get these messages?

[00:05:16] Louise: No, I went along and just got messages. It is really good when you go to a circle because you have someone that's guiding you and encouraging you and helping you. And what happens is your mind overrides and you go, "This is nonsense."

[00:05:28] But you have to just kind of go with it and bring forth what comes. And I think I've learnt to do that more naturally now, 'cause it is hard going. It's like anything. When you learn a language, it's hard to start with. Mm. It's about practice really. Yeah. Yeah. But it, it's just amazing. And people just want...

[00:05:45] Even people who don't believe, when they lose a loved one, obviously the grief process, you have to be really careful around it, and I'm very conscious of that and the- Mm ... feelings that come with that. But people want messages through from their loved ones, and it brings them so much comfort. And they might be worrying, stressing about things, or not feeling that they were able to say certain things, and usually their loved person will come through and just give them that reassurance, it's just- Ah ... it's wonderful.

[00:06:11] Sarah: Yeah. That sounds beautiful. And is it something anybody can do, or have, have pe- different people got different gifts and you just, you don't know unless you try?

[00:06:24] Louise: I think I would say that I think everybody's capable of doing it. Okay. Um, I think some people are more naturally tuned into that kind of energy.

[00:06:33] Some people have been seeing their grandparents since they were little children, naturally, and they just thought it was normal. So some people have to work harder at it. But yeah, there are some people that are more attuned to these things and some that are naturally gifted at it. I wasn't somebody that was naturally gifted at it.

[00:06:51] It didn't just happen and come to me. I had to work hard. But I do believe that anybody, given a little bit of training and a little bit of support and encouragement could learn how to do it. There's so much of the brain we don't know about, you know- Mm ... that we don't tap into. So yeah, a lot of people who didn't think they could do it now can do it.

[00:07:08] It's amazing really.

[00:07:10] Sarah: Yeah. Sometimes we need to get out of the way of ourselves, don't we? We can put these- Absolutely ... barriers up, constantly questioning, "Oh, that doesn't make sense to us," so-

[00:07:18] Louise: Yeah ...

[00:07:19] Sarah: so, therefore... but once you've actually gone out and you've got that evidence that, something's going on here.

[00:07:26] With your ring example, Yeah ... that was something real. That was concrete. That, that person did find that ring in that place and wouldn't have necessarily found it otherwise.

[00:07:37] Louise: No, exactly.

[00:07:38] Sarah: So- Exactly ... I think for me, I definitely thought of mediumship as being this sort of personality on stage.

[00:07:47] Um-

[00:07:47] Louise: Yeah ...

[00:07:48] Sarah: you know, often criticized for different ways of getting to the same information. And I guess when people don't understand it and you can't necessarily certify in it in the same way you would, other things, that there is the opportunity for people to be trying to prey on vulnerable people.

[00:08:10] And I guess they're the ones that get the press, aren't they? They're the ones that make the stories- Absolutely ... and, yeah, so.

[00:08:17] Louise: Yeah, like everything there are charlatans out there, and there are people who know to, know how to take advantage of people. I understand why it's got a bad press, and it is difficult because there is no way of measuring it really.

[00:08:32] Sarah: Mm-hmm.

[00:08:32] Louise: And there's always... As humans, we wanna understand things, and this doesn't make sense to a lot of people. It doesn't... We can't make logic sense of it. So yeah, of course that. And I know that I'm very conscious of that. When I do mediumship readings, I'm very aware that it's something very emotional and somebody wants a message through.

[00:08:52] And sometimes you don't get the people through that you want to come through, 'cause we can't decide which spirit is gonna come through. So you might, for example, want your mum to come through, and then your uncle might come through. You know, it depends whether they're in a place where they want to come forward.

[00:09:05] Sarah: Yeah. So when somebody comes to you, do they tend to come with a certain issue or a certain person they want to contact? How does that work?

[00:09:16] Louise: Yeah. Most people want a specific person to come through or they've got someone in their mind.

[00:09:20] And more often than not, that person will come through. But there are times... And I always say to my clients, "Look, we can't guarantee that th- that person's gonna come through, but I'll bring through whatever comes, you know- Yeah ... through and whoever comes through and the messages that come through at the time."

[00:09:35] Yeah.

[00:09:35] Sarah: Yeah. And I guess you have to be then very conscious of the sort of the situation the person is in- 100% ... and be able to, to pick up on those signals of when people are sort of tipping into, to needing other types of care,

[00:09:52] Louise: yeah, absolutely. It, it's something you have to be very careful about, and I make sure I'm very careful about it.

[00:09:58] Yeah. And I also make sure that someone's in a place where they've They've not got through the grief, but they're not right at the very beginning of it, because that's such an emotional time when you first lose somebody, and it's not the right time at that point to kind of be doing that stuff because of the links and the emotions and everything else.

[00:10:15] Sarah: Oh, that's really useful to know. Yeah. Yeah. 'Cause I could imagine that, that being that sort of sense of urgency when you first lost someone of- 100% ... you, you don't want to let go, do you?

[00:10:26] Louise: You want to- No,

[00:10:27] Sarah: not at all ... to still be able to talk to them. Wow. So are there any, other examples you personally have had that experience, maybe you've used a medium yourself

[00:10:39] Louise: Yeah, 100%.

[00:10:40] I go to spirit circles regularly, and we all work with mediumship. So I've had messages through from my aunt who is very naughty and always wants us to drink whiskey and go out partying. She's a really naughty spirit.

[00:10:54] Sarah: Love that. I want to be that kind of spirit.

[00:10:57] Louise: Oh, she's absolutely that. She's so naughty. She encourages to do all naughty things, but that's what she was like in life. So you get the character of the person. It's fascinating. You really do get a sense of this person, and some of the messages can be really outrageous because you can't filter what people are gonna say, so that's quite funny.

[00:11:16] Sarah: Yeah, of course. And how do these messages come through? Do you hear them, see them? L- like, how does it work?

[00:11:24] Louise: People work in different ways. For me, I'm not very visual, so I get a feeling of somebody, and it's always on the right shoulder. Most people would say it's usually on the right side that spirits come through.

[00:11:36] Some people get them on the left, but most people, they come through on the right, and it's a feeling and a sense of the person. Some people will visually see what they look like. Some people will hear them speaking. It really depends how you work, 'cause everybody works differently, and they have their-

[00:11:52] Sarah: Right

[00:11:52] Louise: you know, some people are clairvoyant, some people will see, some people will hear, some people will visualize. So I will just feel them here and get a real sense of who they are as a character really. Sometimes I can describe what they look like. Other times it's what they bring through. They might want to show their personality, or they might wanna tell a joke, or...

[00:12:12] You know, there w- there was one guy on stage who I watched when there was a medium on stage, and he was talking about, really personal stuff. And he was walking really funny, and it was because he was built a certain way, and he was showing off about it.

[00:12:27] Sarah: Oh, wow. So

[00:12:29] Louise: you never know what you're gonna get.

[00:12:32] Sarah: Oh, I love that idea, that it just... the, the personality comes through. It's not just some- 100% ... sort of spooky voice or, or something

[00:12:41] Louise: like that. No,

[00:12:43] Sarah: not at all. But I get it. Again, I guess that's where it comes across as sometimes it blurs that line between entertainment and-

[00:12:50] Louise: 100%

[00:12:51] Sarah: and something that can be really used as almost therapy with people. What-

[00:12:57] Louise: Yeah.

[00:12:57] The thing that I think's really important with mediumship, and this is what I was taught by the person who taught me, is to bring evidence, as much evidence-

[00:13:05] Sarah: Right

[00:13:05] Louise: as you can, 'cause it's very easy to say, "Oh, I've got a grandparent with me," or, "I've got someone with gray hair. I've got..." So th- what I was taught, and a really good medium is someone that gives evidence and evidential stuff that no one else could possibly have known. There was an example with a bin, and this, this particular person has gone to lots and lots of mediums 'cause they wanted this specific bin mentioned.

[00:13:28] And the, the medium that was teaching me brought the bin through, and they were like, "We've been through 10 mediums, and not one of them has brought this bin forward." So it's about being evidential as much as you can,

[00:13:38] Sarah: yeah. What should people look for when they are searching for a medium that could work with them?

[00:13:46] Louise: People can be a bit airy-fairy, and that isn't because they can't do mediumship, it's maybe because they're not as trained in it.

[00:13:53] But you need to bring evidence. You need to bring stuff that the specific person you're giving information to can take that, and it's more than just, you know, like, oh, you like the sand or sea or ice cream. It has to be really specific because most people like the beach, most people like ice cream.

[00:14:10] So this is where mediums get a bad name, I think, because they don't necessarily give enough information. It has to be very specific to the person that you've got with you. And you can ask for more information. So sometimes if I'm not getting a lot, I'll say, "Can you give me some more information? Can you tell me some more stuff that will resonate with the person that I've got with me?"

[00:14:31] Sarah: Okay. If, you know, this is your first time and you haven't actually booked anyone yet, is it through testimonials? Are there certain websites that they can find good mediums rather than-

[00:14:43] Louise: Yeah ...

[00:14:43] Sarah: the ones we want to avoid

[00:14:46] Louise: Yeah.

[00:14:46] I mean, I would definitely say word of mouth is really good. Yeah. And also going to some of these, like you say, platform work where someone's standing up and giving messages, because you can get a real feel from that of the kind of evidence that's being given, whether it's quite airy-fairy or whether it's specific.

[00:15:03] And also, there's so many videos of mediums doing their work now that it's a good way just- Right ... to watch, look at things, and get... I would say go with your gut instinct of what feels right for you and whether you feel someone's giving enough evidence or if they've got... Because sometimes you can be given loads of evidence, but the person just doesn't feel they connect with you.

[00:15:23] So a- I would always go with your instincts about does this person feel like the right person to have a reading with,

[00:15:30] Sarah: yeah.

[00:15:30] Louise: And do your research, definitely.

[00:15:33] Sarah: Yeah. It does feel really important, because I guess you're putting a lot of trust in that person, aren't you? And, and-

[00:15:40] Louise: 100% ...

[00:15:41] Sarah: there is a...

[00:15:42] we touched on there is that sort of emotional responsibility. You, you need to have that or feel like you can have that kind of relationship with somebody where you're- Yeah ... going to be able to sort of a- have that two-way conversation. So if you need more information, the person isn't thinking, "Oh, I'm gonna hold that back."

[00:16:00] You know, um, almost like testing you. You- Yeah ... you need to know that they're going to feel like they're able to open up to you to give you those- Yeah ... little bits that will help, help what's coming through. So that's amazing.

[00:16:16] Louise: Yeah. Um- Oh, I, I love it.

[00:16:18] Sarah: Yeah. How long have you been doing this now?

[00:16:21] Louise: I've done it for about 10 years now. It was about 10 years ago I first started and first got-

[00:16:25] Sarah: Yeah

[00:16:25] Louise: ... interested in it. And honestly, it's just so wonderful to be able to bring lovely messages through for people. And we all want that when we've lost someone, and it just feels so warm and nourishing, and I do it because I want someone to have that experience, you know?

[00:16:42] Yeah. And it makes me happy to give that to somebody,

[00:16:46] Sarah: oh, that's so special that you're able to bring that to people. I absolutely love to hear that. Do you ever get anything come through that you're like, "Hm, I'm not sure that they want to hear this"?

[00:16:58] Louise: Uh, I am very careful how I give messages- ... to be honest.

[00:17:01] Sarah: Yeah. I bet.

[00:17:03] Louise: Sometimes I might get something where they're, they're not telling someone off, but they're saying something about a situation. I will deliver it more gently than the person who is giving it might. Okay. You know, 'cause obviously, as you know, we, we have people in our lives that can be very forthright.

[00:17:20] And so I will say it in a way that is gentler, I think. I'm a bit careful, 'cause you, you can't just start pointing fingers and going, "You need to be doing this," and it- Yeah ... yeah.

[00:17:30] Sarah: Yeah, I can imagine. Particularly what made me think of it was when you said that the personality comes... it, it is the- Yeah

[00:17:36] the, the whole person. It's not just a, a random, sentence. So, uh- No, exactly ... yeah, I can imagine you have to sort of filter some things a little bit.

[00:17:45] Louise: Or sometimes I'll say, "Okay, I've got a strong message from you. This isn't me. This is coming from this person, and they're really adamant that you need to hear this."

[00:17:53] And most of the time it goes down well. Obviously, sometimes people are like, "Hmm." But then we're all a bit like that when we're being told stuff that we don't wanna hear, aren't we? Let's be honest. Yeah.

[00:18:04] Sarah: Yeah. And you probably f- do you find that people contact you afterwards and say, "Oh, actually, I wasn't sure at the time, but I needed to hear that.

[00:18:13] That actually has really resonated and made a difference"?

[00:18:17] Louise: Yeah. And also sometimes people in the moment can't take things because they're thinking so hard about it, and they get a bit confused and they're like, "No, no, I can't take that. I can't take that." And I will usually say, "Okay. Well, maybe go away and think about it," 'cause it may be that it will resonate, but at the moment you're not you're thinking... You're really kind of wanting so much. So often people will come back and go, "Oh, you know you said about this? This has happened," or, "I remember that from such and such." And I've done that myself when I've had a reading before and gone, "That doesn't make sense." And then I've gone away and gone, "Oh, that does actually make sense."

[00:18:52] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah. Is it better to do it in person? Or is it, in, in our beautiful world a- as we are right this second on Zoom, um, can you get those kind of connections, or do you need the person to physically be with you?

[00:19:08] Louise: No, 100%. I mean, I prefer in those situations to see people face to face because- Yeah

[00:19:14] I think because it's such an emotional thing, and it feels more connected. But yes, absolutely you can do it on Zoom. I have done mediumship readings on Zoom. Because your loved one comes through, they wanna talk to you, so they'll be there ready to speak to you. Yeah. And they almost know. So for example, if I've got a reading, I will usually get messages through, or I'll get someone come through half an hour before the reading chatting in my ear, and it's like, "Okay.

[00:19:37] All right. We're not there yet." But yeah, they're ready to go. Oh, wow. They're excited. Yeah. Yeah. Usually.

[00:19:44] Sarah: Yeah, amazing. I guess otherwise they've got no way of contacting them, so this is- No, exactly ... this is their opportunity, isn't it to come through- Yeah ... and say what needs to be said.

[00:19:54] Louise: And it is interesting, because I've had messages through for people, like my son's friend, I got a message through from him after his dad died, and his dad was so strong, but obviously his friend doesn't mix in those circles, so I was the only person that could have delivered that message, and it was purely by chance that he'd come over.

[00:20:13] Mm-hmm. And I was like, "I'm really sorry, but I've got to give you this message." And it all made total sense to him, and it was stuff that my son did not know. So yeah.

[00:20:24] Sarah: That's incredible. Wow. So when you're able to give those sorts of messages and w- when someone hasn't expected it, do you see those sort of layers of skepticism falling away?

[00:20:44] Louise: Usually, for me personally, I mean, you'd need to speak to other mediums to see what happens for them. But I only get messages usually for people who are open to it.

[00:20:48] Sarah: Yeah. Receptive.

[00:20:48] Louise: Because, yeah, because if a spirit comes through and they know that that person is not going to take any of it, and they think it's a load of rubbish, then they're less likely to come through- Mm-hmm

[00:20:58] unless they think they can get through to them. So sometimes I, I don't get it often. Some mediums have people talking to them the whole time. I don't. It's usually only when I'm doing it. But I've had times when I've been in coffee shops, and I've had to tell someone a message, and it's really strong, and you've got a really strong character going, "No, you've got to tell this person this."

[00:21:17] You know, it's mad.

[00:21:19] Sarah: Wow. That would be... Yeah, I don't know what I'd feel if I was in a coffee shop and someone came over with a message. Knowing me, I'd probably be incredibly excited. But, um, yeah, I can imagine you could have all sorts of reactions to something like that.

[00:21:34] Louise: Well, I've only ever had good reactions, but I always feel really awkward, 'cause I'm like, "Oh my gosh, this is..."

[00:21:39] Sarah: Yeah, how do you approach them? Yeah.

[00:21:41] Louise: Exactly.

[00:21:45] Sarah: Amazing. And as we're on exploring ways to wellness, through doing the mediumship, have y- is there anything else that you have found has really helped your wellness journeys? People tend to have a combination of things, were you doing things related before that brought you to mediumship

[00:22:04] Louise: I was very open to spirits, guides, angels, all of that anyway. But I'd never done any of this stuff. I'd never done any spirit circles or any psychic stuff. It all came together. So the-

[00:22:16] Sarah: Right

[00:22:16] Louise: ... talk to mediumship and the psychic stuff, and then I started doing Reiki healing. And I think-

[00:22:21] Sarah: Lovely

[00:22:22] Louise: ... just being able to connect with guides that I didn't...

[00:22:25] They were always, I always believed in them, but I never really was able to connect with them or talk to them or feel them around me, but now I know how to manage that. So if I'm having a bad time, I will say, "Angel spirit guides, loved ones, please can you come forward and just be present?" And then I'll get messages, or I'll just feel...

[00:22:43] You know that real sense of peace you have sometimes, and that real sense of calm where everything just feels okay even when it's not? It's like that. It's that kind of, like, "Oh, I'm all right." Yeah.

[00:22:55] Sarah: Oh, that sounds divine. And again, I don't think I'd really thought about the fact that you'll be u- using it for your own good as well as, going to practitioners or somebody coming to you for that.

[00:23:08] So that's so lovely that you're able to do that s- I guess, on a daily basis. If, if something comes up, then you would be able to draw on that.

[00:23:16] Louise: Absolutely. And I read cards, so in the mornings if I want to-

[00:23:20] Sarah: Okay

[00:23:20] Louise: ... I'll just take out three cards to give me a bit of advice about what's happening for the day or the week, and they're all quite interlinked. A lot of people that do mediumship also do psychic readings and healing and all of that. They all sort of intertwine together in a way.

[00:23:35] Sarah: Yeah. And what kinds of cards have you got on the go at the moment? 'Cause I know they can be a bit addictive, can't they? You start with one or two-

[00:23:43] Two card decks and then it, it becomes a collection

[00:23:43] Louise: I've got about 30.

[00:23:47] Sarah: Yeah. 30? Wow.

[00:23:48] Louise: I've got, I've got about 30 packs of cards, and I just can't be trusted to go anywhere where they sell cards, oracle cards at all, because I just can't stop buying them.

[00:23:57] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah. And you prefer the oracle over tarot?

[00:24:01] Louise: I don't do tarot. A lot of people do. I find that I get a lot of messages through anyway, and I just need a few cards to kind of- Yeah

[00:24:09] prompt me. And I tend to just go with whatever comes through. Same sort of thing. Uh, it's just tools. You can do it without any of those tools. You don't need tarot, you don't need oracle, you can just connect to someone. But people use it as a way of connection, if that makes sense.

[00:24:24] Sarah: Yeah. I'm definitely on a, a sort of early journey when it comes to oracle and, and tarot.

[00:24:30] The collection has started. I'll, I'll put that out there. But they're just so beautiful, aren't they? They- They

[00:24:36] Louise: are. There's so many, aren't there? Yeah,

[00:24:38] Sarah: they call to you, I'm sure. Like, uh, certain decks-

[00:24:42] Louise: Yeah, they do

[00:24:42] Sarah: ... just call to you and, and it always feels like the card is exactly... And, and I g- Absolutely

[00:24:49] and I guess it's, it's all in the interpretation, isn't it? But yeah, I love a little play with cards. So I like that idea of playing three cards in the morning

[00:24:58] Louise: they jump out at you- Yes ... sometimes, don't they?

[00:24:59] The cards, you open it and one just jumps straight out at you.

[00:25:02] Sarah: Yeah. And even if you're like, "Well, what, what on earth is that one doing?" Then it's like, "Ah. Oh, hang on." Oh,

[00:25:08] Louise: that makes sense. Yeah.

[00:25:11] Sarah: I love it. And then with the Reiki, is that something that you, that you were doing personally and have, are now offering?

[00:25:19] Or is that something that's just sort of a therapy you do too? Again,

[00:25:23] Louise: it's come with the journey that I started with, you know, with mediumship and, and, um, oracle cards and psychic readings. And then I just thought, "All right." So in fact, a medium told me I was a healer and I was like, "No, I'm not a healer, no."

[00:25:38] She's like, "You're a healer." "No, no, no, no, I'm not." And I couldn't take the message, and then I ended up doing reiki and going, "Oh, I'm a healer."

[00:25:45] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah. That's fantastic, isn't it? When you're like, "Oh. Oh, actually. Now I've discovered the re-" Yeah, exactly ... the true extent. 'Cause reiki, again, is something that I didn't realise when I first was looking into it, that you could have people come to you as a practitioner you know, angels and, and guides-

[00:26:08] Louise: Yeah

[00:26:08] Sarah: coming through.

[00:26:09] Louise: And you do get a lot of messages through, a lot of messages when you're healing someone. So it's just par for the course that you'll get angels come through or you'll get me- personal messages for people. 'Cause often our body keeps the score, doesn't it? I believe. Mm. And so we'll get messages through that are linked to whatever's going on with someone and why their throat chakra might be s- might be sort of hurting, 'cause they're not speaking their truth properly or...

[00:26:34] It's all interlinked really. Yeah.

[00:26:36] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah. It is. Amazing. And is there anything else that you do on a, on a daily or weekly basis to sort of top up your wellness?

[00:26:47] Louise: I do a lot of gratitude, 'cause I think it, we particularly, we're so, in, in this country, we're so, "Mm, it's raining, it's too cold- Yeah ... it's too hot."

[00:26:58] So and I think we're alm- that's almost in-built into us as a nation, isn't it?

[00:27:02] Sarah: Yes.

[00:27:03] Louise: So- Even

[00:27:03] Sarah: when the sun comes out, it's, it's too hot.

[00:27:05] Louise: Yeah.

[00:27:06] Sarah: And then we're dying- Yeah ... for rain. Oh, no, now there's too much of that.

[00:27:09] Louise: I know. We just... it's what we talk to people about, isn't it? Small talk. Yeah. It's either the weather or how you're doing.

[00:27:16] "Oh, I've got a bit of a pain in my knee," or it, it's- Yeah ... just the way it is. So I do a lot of gratitude, 'cause I, I think we can all get into a bit of a funk where we're like, "Oh, life's not feeling great." Yeah. But if you do gratitude daily, it kind of reminds you of the things that you've got rather than things that you haven't got.

[00:27:33] So I try and do that.

[00:27:35] Sarah: Yeah. And that gives you that focus then as well, doesn't it? So you're looking for more of the same rather than-

[00:27:40] Louise: Absolutely

[00:27:41] Sarah: ... you know, to reinforce how awful life

[00:27:44] Louise: Yes, exactly.

[00:27:47] Sarah: Fantastic. So that was, that was really helpful. You've really helped me understand mediumship in a, in a different way.

[00:27:55] It's something that you offer yourself, isn't it, at the moment?

[00:27:58] Louise: Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. And I, I love it. So if anybody is interested, then they can happily get in contact with me. I am Motivation and Spirit on Instagram.

[00:28:09] Sarah: Okay.

[00:28:10] Louise: And I'm Louise Eldridge on, on, um, Facebook if anyone wants to contact me.

[00:28:16] Sarah: Fantastic. Well, I'll make sure that all those links are in the, uh, show notes if y- anybody wants to follow anything like that.

[00:28:23] Louise: Yeah.

[00:28:24] Sarah: And have you got any videos or anything, any examples that we can have a little look at of you doing some of your work?

[00:28:31] Louise: I don't... I haven't videoed anything of it, actually.

[00:28:34] Sarah: Okay.

[00:28:34] Louise: I think because it's such a personal thing-

[00:28:37] Sarah: Yeah

[00:28:37] Louise: ... I've never asked anybody if they want to be videoed, just because it's so personal, and most people that come are obviously really wanting a message from someone that's... a loved one that's passed over.

[00:28:48] So yeah, I can offer quick readings or... Well, someone can get in touch with me, and I can have a chat with them, and we can work something out if somebody wants- Yeah ... just a little 10-minute kind of message or, if you wanted a taster, I'm happy to give a taster, if that makes sense.

[00:29:05] Sarah: Yeah. That's amazing. 'Cause, uh, I mean, I, I completely get where you're coming from. It, it is a very personal thing, and I can't imagine- Yeah ... well, i- if anything, you, you would end up feeding into the sort of the entertainment side again, wouldn't you, as a, a f-

[00:29:20] Louise: Absolutely ... um,

[00:29:22] Sarah: and that's not who you're wanting to work with or, or- And it's not what I'm about, either

[00:29:24] or what, how

[00:29:26] Louise: you're wanting to

[00:29:27] Sarah: show your skills. Yeah.

[00:29:29] Louise: No. And I'm more a one-to-one. I mean, I... The platform work, I don't think I'd particularly want to do that. I think the, the people that do platform work are amazing, but I much prefer working one-to-one because of the whole... all that I've said about being really careful about people's feelings and yeah.

[00:29:47] Sarah: Yeah. Yeah. No, that makes total sense. And as you said, the... once you've had really good readings with people, then they do tend to tell other people that y- you know-

[00:29:55] Louise: Absolutely ...

[00:29:56] Sarah: this person knows what they're doing, so.

[00:29:59] Yeah. Yeah. Fantastic. Well, thank you so much- Well- ... for talking us through that today, Louise.

[00:30:04] Louise: Thank you very much. I've loved it. It's been really good to be a guest and talk about something that I'm really passionate about.

[00:30:10] Sarah: Well, thank you for sharing your passion.

[00:30:12] Louise: Thank you.

[00:30:13]

[00:30:18] Sarah: What struck me most about this conversation is how much responsibility Louise takes for the emotional weight of what she does. She's not chasing the dramatic reveal, she's genuinely careful with people's grief. I loved the reminder that so much of this comes down to specificity, real evidence, rather than looking for something so vague it could apply to anyone.

[00:30:44] A useful thing to keep in mind if you're ever looking for a medium yourself. Thank you so much, Louise, for such an open and thoughtful conversation. Until next time, take care of yourselves, and remember there are many paths to wellness, and sometimes comfort comes from a message you never expected to receive

Thanks for listening
